Reviews of Ranjit's Kitchen
H. H.
I love Ranjit's. I've always had amazing, fresh and tasty food, whenever I've been. It's delicious, so so flavoursome and as a vegetarian, it's so nice to have a Indian restaurant where I can eat anything and everything... in great excess. Happy tummies 😊
New pic, still all amazing 😊
J. G.
Great, nicely spiced food. We had veg Thali and it was amazing! Proper rotis, fantastic sweets and gorgeous ginger chai. Lovely staff, greetings to the whole team. Thank you for making our evening in Glasgow so lovely ❤️
c. p.
A good 4 star. Normally 5/5 but mint dip and daal were a bit watery this time. Daal also had a bit too much coriander. Excellent selection of food, decent service and well worth a visit. Lemon pickle is a must.
A. D.
This is a gem of a place. Truly " Home Made " food. Prepared in small batches in a home style kitchen. Flavours are very authentic and the food will take you on a journey of gastronomic adventure. Good luck for the future and keeping things simple and beautiful. Please don't change anything 😉. Will definitely return back soon. Thanks
L. K.
Great food. The staff were friendly and the prices were very reasonable. It was a culinary adventure and worth returning to try more from the menu. The menu was not huge but has enough choice and variety to suit everyone. Seating was a bit limited with a handful of tables so when it's busy it might be difficult to eat in
T. J.
It is the only pure vegetarian restaurant in Glasgow, and the food is amazing.
I was in love with the desserts specially the gazar halwa and the ice cream with it.
It is a must try restaurant.

This place is an absolute delight for homemade Indian food at a reasonable price. It’s a neat family run place and everything on their menu is absolutely delicious. They also have some daily special which keeps it interesting. Would love to visit again.
A. B.
So Lively like a family. Very warm jovial people. I felt the culture of North India in my veins through their food. A very good place to treat yourself to. Cozy and warm!

This is another great wee place that I haven't been to since before lockdown. I know. Don't get me started, lol.
The food (I believe, southern Indian, vegetarian and vegan ) was as delicious as I remember it being before, the lassis are wonderful but filling, so bring your appetite 😋, and the service was friendly and helpful. The only downside this time - the restaurant was cold! Other than that, loved it.
T. k.
The thali was one of the best things I've eaten in a while, so good that I had to have a dessert - Gajrela which was even better!! Blown away.
Incredibly tasty meal, lovely staff and great value for money. 10/10 💕

After many years of my Travel 1st time ate Indian taste in UK . Pure Desi Panjabi Taste is best about this resturant we liked . The feel of being there was as good as being invited to a Punjabi family hosting .. its called best in India .
We are all pure Vegitarian and this resturant is only Vegitarian and It’s very uncommon and difficult to find a pure Vegirarian resturant with Indian taste in UK.
We are too much and the price was also very very reasonable .
Parking outside resturant was free after 16:00 hrs

Just looked an my last review here was 4 years ago but would be exactly the same from today's visit...Great tasty vegetarian food, the samosas were, and still are amazing :) 10/10 with nice friendly staff to add to the experience
S. S.
My anytime favourite for the pure vegetarian options.
I loved and definitely recommend the Saag and Makki roti, and homemade sweets. In fact everything is worth trying.
A. R.
My first visit to Ranjit's and I was not disappointed. Friendly service and tasty food at a good price, what more could you want.
P. D.
Delicious food, great friendly staff, and very reasonably priced. You couldn't ask for better really.
m. c. p.
Great food highly recommnded lovelly food 5 star customer service.
K. S.
Busy place but the food is stunning. Wish I didn't live 250miles away and only here for the day.
A. C.
Wow just wow! Food was fabulous and very high quality. I'm not a Pakora fan but here they are a must try! The service was also very good and prices are reasonable. A must try if you are a foodie 💗 …
T. P.
Just like home cooking! I got the samosa chaana and ginger chai. Sooo good! Tasted like my mother made lunch for me. ☺️
J. M.
If it happens that you are in Glasgow and you are a vegarian nd Indian food lover, this is a place for you. Home-made... really good family food. However, book in advance to avoid long waiting.
k. m.
Excellent home cooked vegetarian food. Pleasant atmosphere, very helpful and friendly staff, food isn't overly spicy, enjoyable and has more than enough flavour, generous portions for the price, overall a very decent dining experience if you like freshly cooked vegetarian food. Been there many of times and will continue to visit Ranjit's Kitchen.

I am not a vegan or veggie person by nature - more a sort of "if you can catch, kill and cook it" they you can count me in - however this wasn't my first rodeo in a curry house.
First of all we arrived to find a lovely Indian family - all 3 generations seated comfortably at the end of their meal - I always consider this to be a good indicator of good cooking - whatever the region/ethnicity of the food on offer.
Everything is sppotlessly clean, the staff are helpful, informative and super friendly - no question regarding the menu was treated as treated as trivial or stupid.
The two items chosen were a scrambled paneer comes with a parnatha, and a Samosa Channa special both were spicy, flavorsome and filling.
Texture and moisture are as important in curry as spice and heat, and the balance here is almost perfect ... the mango lassi is highly recommended.
Visit early as this place fairly buzzes with take outs, Deliveroo and drop ins - please note premises do not hold a licence to serve alcohol or host BYOB otherwise
would have awarded 5 stars.
V. P.
Excellent table service, we polite and friendly staff, food is as itsay on the tin, beautifully cooked freshly made, can't fault the food or the staff.
Great experience 👍 👌 👏
Thank you
Vim

Great vegetarian food at really great price! All homemade and full of authentic flavour, in great surroundings and helpful happy staff. Reccomend!
M. A.
Visited today for the first time and will certainly be making a regular occurrence even though its in a bit of a drive for me, great service and wonderful food, the Thali with Special pakora was first class.
E. T.
Delicious home-cooked food in a lively busy restaurant. Tasted very authentic and was filling while tasting light and fresh. The waiters were very helpful at recommending what to try and how much to order, and even suggested a sharing plate of desserts when we were baffled by the choice. £50 for 4 people, including two rounds of soft drinks, was incredibly reasonable given the quality of the food. A lovely addition to the Strathbungo area.
B. M.
A lovely family owned restaurant that caters really well for allergies and has friendly and caring staff! 😀
S. A.
Fantastic and delicious vegan dinner, well served in lovely and friendly surroundings.
I will definitely be returning.
S. S.
This is the place to go if you want non-restaurant authentic home made indian food. Be brave and adventure yourself in this wee place of Glasgow south-side. The food is delicious and unpretentious and the service relaxed.
M.
For an informal vegetarian and vegan meal this place is perfect. A good range of freshly cooked dishes, all reasonably priced are provided here. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual but the service is prompt and friendly.
S. G.
Amazing food amazing staff! A must visit for anyone looking for really good vegetarian Indian food
S. M.
Love Ranjits kitchen 😋 the best tastiest scran I've eaten in a long time x cannot recommend enough x Hardeep is an absolute legend 🙌 👏 👌
J. D.
Amazing vegetarian food, very reasonably priced.
E. M.
I can always rely on Ranjit's to provide amazing food at a reasonable price and with quick & friendly service. So glad i live around the corner from them... sometimes i just nip round & order a couple of things to make dinner more interesting. So F-ing good! Thank you - don't change.
a. c.
Food was very good. Very different than what I'm used to but so, so tasty. We both had the thali and had a sweet parantha too which paired so well with the Dahl and the sabji, the Dahl had great depth of flavour and the saag wasn't like anything I'd tasted before, it was savoury and verdant, the yoghurt and sweet parantha complimented and enhanced it. The staff were friendly and chatty. Will definitely be going back if we visit Glasgow again
A. K.
Food is just amazing. Authentic and highly recommended.
A. K.
Tastefully real Indian food ,warm family and chicky design . definitely worth it, highly recommend!
R. K.
Its must visit Indian restaurant in Glasgow.
Food taste is just like home.
We specially went for makke ki roti (corn chappati) and saag. It was authentic Indian Punjabi which is a must try on every Thursday with a super glass of Home made plain sweet lassi.
5⭐
L. H.
So much lovely food, I always order too much. Really helpful friendly staff as well.
B. C.
The best food in southside. I love this place, everything is veggie and amazing vegan options. Great vibe to the place. The chai is amazing and so are the pakoras - impressive portion size on them. Lots of choice on the menu with daily specials but just all round a great selection of authentic indian food to choose from. Low prices for delicious food. You can't beat Ranjit's value anywhere whether you're popping in for a drink and a snack or a full banquet. Easy to get to from queens park station so even if you're in town it would only take just over 10 minutes to get here form central station. Well worth a visit.
N. C.
Friendly welcome, delicious food and astonishingly reasonably priced. Our first, but definitely not last visit.
C. R.
Excellent food at low prices. The place is small so we had to wait for a table, but it was was well worth it. A bit of a walk outside of the touristic area, so taking a bus or taxi there is a good idea.
K. M.
Good homely food. Prices reasonable. We ordered the soup of the day - Tarka Dal, mixed vegetable curry, and sweet chick pea curry to go with mixed veg parantha, Gobi parantha and a sweet parantha and some rotis. They were great and good portions too.
We also ordered the aloo tikki and mango lassi.
Aloo tikki is generally made with just potatoes (but no batter) and it is shallow roasted. What I found instead was potatoes covered with batter and deep fried - was not at all aloo tikki. But was ok.
Mango lassi - in a Punjabi restaurant I thought would be great but was disappointing. It was just made with mango essence. I would go for just the sweet lassi next time.
But I would say over all - it was good and I would go again.

Really enjoyed meal tonight..First time here and the lovly girl advised us on the menu and the 2 guys really pleasant and helpful..food lovly. Real mixture that I'd never tried before..all great..will be back
A. M.
Food is delicious. Service is awesome.
Cosy friendly place to eat .
Love the sweet channa dish and their take on carrot cake !
Give it a try
c. h.
Great authentic food at good prices and with friendly service.
J. O.
Really nice food. They keep menus small and simple; and that's the secret of quality food. Really enjoyed the food for just £6.
Will repeat again.
J.
Being a meat eater, I was weary about trying a vegetarian venue - my expectations were greatly exceeded. Fresh, affordable and absolutely delicious food. Service was casual and friendly - just what we were looking for. Well done guys!
L. F.
So pleased to have found this fabulous wee place. Delicious, freshly cooked authentic food. Our new favourite. The staff are so lovely. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly and helpful.
E. D. M.
The best Indian food I have ever had. I usually get a daal of the day and a sabzi of the day and I know that no matter the particular ingredient of the day it will be delicious. Staff are always so kind and they make the best chai.
S. M.
Delicious Indian vegetarian food hub! Especially Punjabi food lovers' hub. Love the saag and samosa here. Lassi can't meet expectations here in UK but best attempt thus far.
A. R.
Lovely! High quality, home cooked food. Gem of a place.
N. J.
Pure vegetarian restaurant in Glasgow. Yummy food with Indian flavour.
S. D.
Awesome place to have vegeterian food hatss off to Ranjeet kaurji for maintaining quality with quantity superb lassi full makhan waali one stop destination desi punjabi food. Indians who are missing desi cuisine or home made food need to taste it, even I have seen many scotish, english and African people enjoying the cuisine. Its a best tummy treat one could experience. If you are in Glasgow and want to taste Indian exotic vegeterian food do visit Ranjeet's kitchen.
M. B. C.
This is the best little restaurant in Glasgow. Even though it's vegetarian you don't have to be to appreciate the quality of food you're getting, and especially for such an affordable price. I've been quite a few times with friends and can't speak highly enough of it. Everything I've tried here is great. The place feels cozy and I love the decorations on the wall and looking at the jars of sweets behind the till. My favorite thing here is the paneer pakora (dream-worthy) and I'd recommend getting a hot drink (coffee or tea) since it comes with one of the sweets I mentioned from the jars. They almost literally melt in your mouth. Highly highly recommend!
P. P.
Authentic Punjabi cuisine. It's essentially Ranjit's family recipes that have been perfected over generations. Smaller menu than many restaurants but, the quality is excellent. Everything is veggie (plenty of vegan options) and the fact that so many meat eaters consider Ranjit's to be their favourite Indian restaurant is an indication of just how good the food is. Easily the best pakoras I've ever had. Amazing value for money, especially for the quantities. Very friendly staff. Impossible to rate them too highly.
M. K.
Travelled from Perth today to sample Ranjit’s kitchen . The cafe is warm and welcoming and the food was absolutely fantastic . We shared the Panjabi tea for two which is highly recommended . Looking forward to returning again soon
J. D.
Outstanding food, very reasonably priced. Staff are lovely. Currys change from day to day. Probably best Indian food in Glasgow
R. T.
Delicious Punjabi home cooked food. Lovely service. Really enjoyed our visit!
G. S.
Great food. Great staff. Never disappoints. Portions are substantial and very reasonable prices. Great for the Veggies.
d. c.
I'm a bit of a meat lover so to have a meal that was vegetarian was a bit different for me but food was lovely. Especially the pakora like all the reviews said.
R.
Visited the place with family, recently. A small cosy place lit up by the smile and warmth of people managing the place. Food was very affordable and tasty. Portions were decent as well. Veggie food only, just like I wanted it. Options on the menu are limited but don't be disappointed because you will love what you order.
No table bookings taken. It's first come first serve only which worked quite well for me. Please remember to take cash as they don't accept cards.
Just a tad disappointed with their samosas. Being a Punjabi restaurant I probably had high expectations of the samosas.
Highly recommend and I would definitely go there again when in Glasgow
G. S.
It is good. Best bit is that it is vegetarian. However I am not very keen on it. Since it gives me home made food taste which I can cook myself at home.
C. W.
Superb tasting food at a great price.
C. M.
One of the places where you can get good homely Indian food at an affordable price. Staff is very helpful and attentive, service is good.
P. C.
Absolutely love the thali, don’t even think twice before ordering it. Mine had chole(chickpea curry), saag (spinach curry), raita (curd with spices) , 2 parathas and pickle. The portions are huge and great value for money. However, do avoid the paneer pakora. They were bland, paneer was tough (probably old) and the filling was just raw.
Z. P.
I have tried the Ranjit's Kitchen today for the first time. I have tried 3 different meals (sharing) and sweets and everything was absolutely beautiful. I can't recommend this place enough and will definitely be back. Thank you for wonderful and friendly service and gorgeous food.
K. S.
Great value for money. The samosa special was really really good.
M. M.
We have been to Ranjit's countless times but never reviewed. Always tasty food that's freshly prepared. Good value.
T. J.
I walked across Glasgow to try this place and it was well worth it. Great food, and definitely try the sweets! The place is small so we were lucky to get a seat without waiting. Would have been glad to take away or queue though as the meal was very worthwhile.
N. P.
Went for a holiday in Scotland, the first place we looked for was a restaurant as we are vegetarian and we found Ranjit's Kitchen. Delicious food and home like flavour. If you're a vegetarian and looking for Indian home style food, there's no other place than this, highly recommended. And thank you very much Hardeep for the Laddoos and Barfies.
e. l.
We love Ranjit’s Kitchen. Lots of tasty options, all veggie, served up quickly in this cosy spot. The guys serving here are great and we struggle to spend £20 between the two of us (even when we have enough left over for lunch the next day). So glad to see them open again after lockdown.
M. B.
Perfect for Pure Vegetarian people, really delicious food at very pocket friendly prices.
S. S.
Amazing Punjabi food. They have different varieties of the food and all the items are very tasty and prepared by the staff. Staff is also very friendly and helpful. Also it is not much costly. Best option for people who want to eat Veg food. Also good option for small groups to take lunch or dinner together.
V. L.
Absolutely delicious!! Lovely family run business with amazing vegan dishes 🖤
E. P.
Friendly service, good prices and delicious food!
C. S.
Excellent and delicious Food!!! MUST VISIT WHILE YOU TRAVEL TO Glasgow.
K. M.
Wonderful family run vegetarian restaurant, also do takeaway. Really good value. Sabji / curry and dahl varies by day, always fresh and flavourful. Oh and the samosas are the best I've ever had.
s. S.
Very tasty indeed . The food was cooked so well with quality ingredients. The inside of the restaurant was so cool I haven’t seen anything like it before . Service was good too staff were friendly and nice . Good selection of dishes to choose from. Thank you 5 out of 5 stars. :)
C. Z.
My absolutely favourite restaurant in Glasgow. Authentic Indian vegetarian &vegan food and people working there are always so friendly. I live 40min drive away and it's still my go-to take away as well :)
K. S.
The food is lovely, as are the desserts and drinks. Everything is light and feels healthy which I really enjoyed. The flavours were all quite zesty and fresh. Its a vegetarian restaurant and doesn't sell alcohol, so bear that in mind when coming.
I think they allow BYOB but given you sometimes have to share tables with strangers, you're probably better off getting takeaway (which has less wait than waiting for a table but I think no price discount!) and eating their stuff at home. If you're not averse to sitting with strangers then you'll probably enjoy eating in.
J. P.
Incredibly delicious, great value for money, very good service and vibe.
J. B.
Attentive, chatty, and considerate staff. Incredible selection of Indian vegetarian and vegan dishes (most dishes can also be made vegan on request). Fantastic value for money. Get the special pakora and sabji of the day. So good we went back for lunch again the following day.
C. H.
It was my 1st visit after driving past it for a few years. Verdict: Absolutely loved this place. Delicious healthy veggie food and drinks, in a warm and friendly setting with cool music.
Parking can be difficult, and you might have to wait to be seated - or even share a table with random people but it adds to the relaxed feeling you get in there.
My new favourite place in the southside.
G. M.
Always hits the spot for a craving of very authentic, warming, comforting daal and rotis. Not to mention it’s fantastic value.
Also the pakora curry is absolutely lovely.
L. W.
Lovely staff and good, homely, heartwarming food. The prices are really good, although I suppose they are fair for vegetable based dishes - most places charge way over the odds for vegan and veggie dishes that probably cost pence to make. Could have been a little more spicy.
M. U.
Very tasty and good price food. Cosy place to have a quick meal and keep on.
Staff were amazing and very welcoming.
P. K.
Bench tables, no booking system. Vegetarian. The point is to be nice to each other in here, chat and share a bit. Lovely community feel. The food is homemade, wholesome and blessed. Not a formal foodie dining experience, so don't expect one and you'll be happy. Also, don't sit at the window waiting for a table looking miserable or drawing looks at people dining, it ruins the vibe for everyone. The veggie pakora is the best.
A. W.
One of the best places where you can get as close to authentic Indian food as you can. Place itself is small but it does not matter because the food is delicious and served fresh and hot.
S. S.
I love this place. Food is always brilliant and staff is amazing. Also, best pakora I ever had. Definitely the kind of comfort food you need just now. Warm, spicy and delicious. Ranjit owns that kitchen!
J. O.
Fabulous food delicious and really great prices. Get there early though if you are wanting a seat. Good delicious staff amazing the waitress works there as she likes the food which is a fabulous recommendation we even got a doggie bag to take home. I am not a vegetarian but this could seriously tempt me to become one. A jewel in the south side.
C. Z.
Definitely my go-to takeaway (and I love sitting in as well). Probably the best Indian food I've tasted, plenty of Vegan options as well.
I would recommend sitting in for a daal/sabji of the day (a steal for under a fiver), just pick a mid-week day, as it can get really busy!
K.
Food selection they provide is decent and the food was satisfying. The best item on their menu was indeed their masala tea and coffee, it was the best I ever had
R. S.
Food was freshly prepared. All home made including yogurt and lemon pickle. Thali was good value. Service was pleasant and efficient. Place was busy but we did not have to wait too long. Great to find a fully vegetarian place.
B. S.
Home cooked vegetarian Punjabi food. Went there for first time today and fell in love with the place cos of the amazing food. Made fresh daily. Worth every penny. Highly recommended...p.s it's not British Punjabi food...it's the real deal.
K. B.
A good place to eat home Cooked food away from home 🏡
K. L.
Literally the best authentic Indian restaurant/takeaway. Food is unreal and the staff are so friendly.
P. D. P.
Great vegetarian place. In fact Ranjit's kitchen is the only restaurant in the entire Glasgow that is entirely vegetarian serving north Indian cuisine. Their food is amazing. I hope they have a bigger place and serve south indian dishes as well.
w. e.
Welcoming atmosphere and staff. Food nicely presented. Authentic Punjab food, freshly made. Delicious. Will definitely be returning next time I'm in Glasgow
s. m.
This place showed up in my Google recommend for you feed when driving home so I nipped in to try it. Well it was busy and all tables were full but I just wanted a take away so ordered 2 portions of special pakora for my friend and myself. The pakora was light, fresh and full of flavour and the brownish dip was to die for. Both of us ate the lot and although both of us are meat eaters we both said with flavours like that we would be back to try more from the menu..
M. G.
Nice food like homemade.
The quality was also enough.
You don't have many options in the menu but you will like whatever is on the card.
The only item ,that has disappointed us, was lassi. It was more like butter milk.
But it is value for money anytime.
R. B. R.
Great home made Vegetarian Punjabi food. Simple cooking is sometimes the best way. It is seriously a Family run business and very good. You have a very limited menu which I felt was perfect rather than a giving customers menu book.
M. W.
Lovely place. Kind and helpful staff, and delicious food. Very good price for the amount of food you get, especially when it's freshly made and such high quality.
F. I.
Excellent food, excellent service from staff. Real, authentic delicious vegetarian dishes! My new favourite Pubjabi restaurant in Glasgow!
P. I.
I went with my mum a couple of months back after spending a week in Scotland. What amazing and friendly staff! Great bunch of people and the food was soooooo good. Proper authentic home cooked food with love.
If you are looking for typical restaurant style food, this isn't the one. If you are looking for traditional home cooked food (possibly best punjabi food I've had outside of India in a restaurant) Ranjits is deffo the place!
A. B.
Food is delicious! This place is always busy & now I know why! The food is delicious, fresh, flavourful!
We ordered the Punjabi tea for 2.
I really enjoyed the dhal & pakoras! yum! I highly recommend eating here. 😋
H. C.
Great tasty food, very helpful and friendly staff. Not expensive menu. Good selection of teas too. Found it completely by accident. Got off a cold bus and wanted something to eat and there was the kitchen. Will be back again.
E. G.
Great tasting, fresh, home made food. The family is very welcoming and were very helpful when enquiring about different dishes. To top it off my son chose a box of delicious sweets to take home!
A. R.
Great little veggie Punjabi restaurant. Really good value and always delicious. If there isn't space in the restaurant you can pop.over the road to the Koelschip with your carry out and have an amazing beer too.
H.
Very busy. I have been many times and most recently waited 45 mins to be seated and 45 mins to be served, but the wait just made the experience all the better. The place is small and nicely decorated. The food is top class, extremely fresh, homemade and bursting with flavour. There is a different sabji and daal every day. Amazing paneer pakora like I have never experienced before and fantastic sweets and cardamom tea. If not the best it's definately one of the best Indian restaurants in Glasgow. And ALWAYS worth the wait!
R. B.
It's been over 4 years since I ate/ordered from from any other Asian restaurant. I could eat your paneer pakora for breakfast lunch and dinner. Thanks for bringing your style of cooking to Glasgow 🙂 …
A. V.
If you want to taste home made authentic punjabi food, this is the place. From lassi, to samosas to sabji with roti, the food is made with utmost love. Thanks!!!
J. M.
Amazing vegetarian and vegan food. The best pakora in town with fresh and tasty dipping sauces. Daal of the day has always been great every visit. Really affordable too.
J. P.
Consistently great food at Ranjit's. I usually go with my girlfriend and we share a sabji and a dhal, it's enough to feed us both and under a tenner. The special pakora is amazing too and lots of it. You need to tell the waiter to make whatever you're having vegan.
J. D.
Great for vegan and veggie. I noticed the Four 1 star reviews are probably from competitors. The food and service here are faultless. Ranjits food is delicious simple home - cooked punjabi food. If I could leave 10 stars I would.
C. C.
Delicious, authentic Indian food and unique in that everything is vegetarian. I'm not vegetarian but for me it's the best Indian restaurant in Glasgow - a bold statement I know
R. Y.
Awesome food and friendly staff. Never thought I would crave veggy food. Will be back for sure.
A. S.
Extraordinarily good food at a very reasonable price. Paneer pakoras could do with a little bit of kala namak to heighten the flavours, but the saag is impeccable.
Will definitely be back, and am thrilled to have proper Punjabi food easily and readily available.
F. P.
Not bad.
S. K.
Amazing food as always. Love you Ranjit!
G. H.
Great class, amazing food that we've cooked time and time again. Teacher is very patient abd explains everything very simply for even a novice such as I to understand. Would recommend this class to anyone looking to cook and eat tasty healthy food
j. l.
Lovely food in lovely restaurant extremely reasonably priced would recommend
A. B.
Ranjit's chicken is a really good South Asian vegetarian restaurant, a lot of their dishes are paneer which is great if you love paneer (I do). You can't make reservations in advance so you might have to wait for a while when you come to get a seat, if it's over half an hour I would usually leave my number and go to Alison arms for a half pint. It gets really busy so you might find you have to wait for a your food to come out as it's quite a small place, so it's not good for a quick bite. There's also no alcohol served but they have nice refreshing fizzy drinks or diary based drinks.
D. B.
Great food (vegetarian/ vegan). Even though I am a confirmed meat eater, the food here was excellent. Well balanced and tasty. Also surprisingly filling, with large portions. Friendly staff, and great VFM as well. One of the best.
A. M.
Possibly the best Indian food I have ever tasted! Fresh, tasty and plenty of it. The staff were excellent and so helpful. We can't to come back.
M. P.
Amazing food for a very reasonable price and great service, would definitely recommend a visit!
J. G.
Wonderful vegetarian Indian food. Everything is so fresh and delicious, not to mention reasonably priced!
C. Y.
Gulab jamon and staff saved it from 2 stars. We were really looking forward to trying this little place, however, food was bland and the same dip was served with most dishes which made them all taste the same. Nice little place, but food let it down on this occasion.
R. H.
One of the best vegan/vegetarian Indian homemade food in Glasgow south side. Their Thali is their highlight and varies every day. Cash or card accepted.
S. C.
I'm not vegan or vegetarian but this is a cracking little place in the Southside of the city. You can't reserve a table so, advisedly, go early or you may have a long wait. The food is fresh and delicious will definitely be getting a second visit!
D. K.
Go here for authentic home made Punjabi food. Shared seating is present and you can just turn up, however it is a small place. Most do take aways. Deserts are delicious and my favourite is the carrot halwa (gajar halwa). They also do sell boxes of spicy mix and laddus. Staff are friendly, courteous and willing to explain the menu if you are new to this. Definitely worth trying simple for its authenticity.
F. K.
The best Vegetable Samosas!! Freshly made and crisp pastry...delicious. Also do delicious homemade Punjabi Saag on Thursdays along with Makki Roti (corn chapattis). Once a week, they do delicious Channa Batooras, which is a chick pea curry with small crispy naan type bread. It's so delicious...shame it's not on the menu daily.
D. R.
The food is just awesome. Proper home made Punjabi indian food. Small inside but it adds to the atmosphere and you can always get a takeaway
a. b.
Panoramic and Samosa particularly good.
A. T.
Punjab kitchen, vegan, spicy, affordable
d. y.
Great place and at such a reasonable price
M. M.
Absolutely great food, beautifully cooked. Surroundings are cafe fashion, very reasonably priced. Staff are great. Our favourite place to eat!
J. M.
The best. Small Indian cafe serving vegan options. Tastes authentic and fresh. The Thalis which offer a range of tasty treats, such as dhaal, spiced veg, and roti are brilliant. As is the paneer pakora. Must visit if you can get a seat.
D. G.
Best vegetarian Indian punjabi food. Pakoras are the best I have ever tasted.
A. C.
Excellent Mom and Pop Punjab vegetarian place. Good food, fair prices. Kind of hippyish. Lots of young people. Limited communal seating.
M. S.
Authentic South Indian food with reasonable price. Much recommended. Vegetable pakora is great and some other dishes that I really forgot their names 😅 …
J. D.
Great venue, family run, such lovely people, great staff.. food fresh, tasty.. and so inexpensive!! 100% recommend for simple, authentic Punjabi food 👌 …
J. L.
This restaurant's cuisine is punjabi, from a region of India where the food is primarily vegetable based (they have the odd meaty dishes as specials, but not when I've been in), so it is a vegetarian's dream... and there are plenty of vegan options too!
Ranjit's Kitchen is a small, family run restaurant. So seating is at a premium! Luckily as we went for lunch on a Sunday, we were the first people there. All of the recipes are mama Ranjit's recipes, and mama Ranjit is in the back cooking them up for you (she is a very talented lady) while her son takes care of things out front. The feel of the place is homely and a little bit jazzy without trying too hard. When working on the décor, they worked with the exposed brickwork, hanging fairy lights and placing little plants at intervals along the walls. I get the feel of being in someone's groovy dining room.
I'm an oddity in that I don't much drink liquids while I eat... but I just can't resist having a lassi, especially a mango one! It's like a milkshake if it were made with natural yoghurt instead of ice cream. Tasty stuff, but pretty filling so you don't want to drink all of it before your food arrives! The paneer pakora is simply divine! The paneer is marinated and before being battered in gram flour, a wonderful filling made of tamarind, red onion and ginger. The homemade chutney that comes with it contains carrot, tamarind and mint. I am actually salivating even thinking about it. The sweet channa with paneer (can you tell I have a thing for paneer?) is also an amazing treat; chickpeas and paneer in a sweet and spicy sauce... and when coupled with a lovely, warm parantha it is the ultimate comfort food.
And let us not forget dessert! I love Indian sweets, and have done as long as I can remember finding out there were Indian sweet shops near my home. But my absolute favourite, which isn't very common, is gajrela. A sweet, warm carrot almost-pudding with almonds and pistachios... the closest comparison is with carrot cake, but I find it much better. It's one of those Indian desserts that is mostly home made, and few restaurants seem to carry it on their menu. So imagine my absolute delight when I first saw it on the menu in Ranjit's Kitchen! Ranjit's gajrela is among the best I've tasted, and served warm alongside a scoop of ice cream. Heaven.
If you haven't been in, stop thinking about it and GO! You won't be sorry.
F. R.
This is a true hidden gem. It's well worth the trip outside the city centre to experience what must be some of the best food in Scotland. The Kitchen has a small friendly feel.
M. T.
Lovely food and really good atmosphere. Very busy but staff were more than welcoming and very attentive. Food was brilliant. Really tasty and filling. Definitely worth calling by
A. K.
Oh, look no further if you're craving for homely Indian food. The Gaajar halwa there could compete the best there in India even !
S. C.
Way better than other pseudo Indian food places that mix vegetarian and meat.
A. B.
Really good fresh food. I got take away but small lively place to eat and I will return. Very unusual for me to enjoy a vegetarian menu so much.
F. A.
Best Punjabi food!!
C. L.
Probably the nicest place I've been for food in Glasgow. Very tasty food, lovely family vibe, friendly staff and very good value. Now that we've made the West End to Southside move, I'm sure we'll be regulars!
c. s.
Awesome food and customer service. Very reasonably priced. I'll definitely be back.
J. J.
Very relaxed dining space with fantastic food. The specail pakora was the highlight of the meal, could be the best pakora I have ever had. Fantastic flavours at great prices... a must visit when in the Southside.
M. M.
Incredible food, portions ideal for sharing, menu includes daily specials which is a testament to its freshness, very reasonably priced, staff were lovely and very informative - cannot wait to go back.
S.
Clean, traditional Panjabi food. Vegetarian. Lovely to finish with ginger chai.
V. K.
I miss home after eating here
v. r.
Excellent homestyle vegetarian Punjabi food. The best Saag I have tasted for many years.
P. S.
Lovely staff, amazing Indian traditional food and their laddoos, jalebis and gulab jamuns are the best I've tasted in Glasgow. Definitely recommend it to authentic Indian food lovers.
T. C.
Amazing. Indian comfort food at very reasonable prices. Nice staff, cosy surroundings and a gentle ambience that makes you want to return.
T.
This isn't a posh place but the food is excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. We have enjoyed take away food from here.
M. R.
Amazing veggie food, lovely lil interior, I've never been to Pakistan but it feels traditional, and everyone is super sound and it's casual af and everyone's welcome. I recomennnd
H. J.
Within a few mouthfuls I was transported back to my travels around India. Very authentic and friendly chat with the owner. Big portions, especially the deserts. Leaving with a full tummy and a smile on my face (with our deserts in a doggy bag)
B. R.
Ranjit's is always fantastic. Order one of everything and you can't go wrong with taste or price. Can't say enough good things
L. M.
Really great food here. Cant book a table you just have to show up but there are plenty of bars next door to go sit in until you can get a space. The food is worth it :)
A. A.
I would highly recommend Ranjit's Kitchen. They have a selected menu and the daal I ordered was really delicious. The pakoras you could taste were made fresh and were flavoursome. They serve only vegetarian food. It is also close to Queens Park station.
B. G.
So so good. Food is special and the chat is excellent. Great family business. Go on a Tuesday for the Pakora Curry.
A. F.
Amazing authentic food and a great environment. Excellent vegan options and great prices!
N. A.

P. F.
Great food and atmosphere one of the best veggie and Vegan on the southside
K.
Secor bit basic, cutlery minimal but probably due to Covid. Only suitable for veggies who like chickpea curries and soya. Lunch portions ok. Seems quite popular so what do I know.
R. K.
It feels like home cooked Indian food.
K. A.
Very homely Indian food, tried chola samosa, thali, paranthas, kadi and the assorted barfi's ( packed and still enjoying)
N. A.
Absolutely amazing food. Authentic proper Punjabi food.
Great place !
R. S.
Guys must try this place in Glasgow Govalhill "Ranjeet's Kitchen". Cozy, small eatery. Very home style #vegeterian Indian food cooked by ladies. Today's dishes were Aloo Beans and Kadi so tried Kadi Chawal and it was fantastic. Second visit and even better. Strangely don't see Indians here, mostly it's visited by young british/Europeans.
A. V.
I had Punjabi thali( which included paratha, curry with pakoda, bell peppers curry, boondi raita, rice, chutney and pickle) along with paneer pakoda and gulab jamun. Food was tasty, paneer pakoda and gulab jamun were very nice, thali portion was sufficient for oneself. Boondi raita could have been better though.
P. J.
A great original Indian restaurant (Traditional Panjabi) to spend time with family, not like many Bangladeshi or Pakistani restaurant who says themselves Indian restaurant....
Their Laddu is great (not oily)... It is just identical to Our Kerala taste...
N. T.
Lovely light authentic curries and accompaniments. Excellent value and really tasty food. Three curries and two/three sides was plentiful for 4 people
r. g.
Why would you go to any other Indian restaurant?! Excellent good, excellent service, excellent atmosphere. Well worth the wait if you need to queue.
L. D.

Out of the world Saag and Makki di roti 😋😋 Best I’ve eaten in a long long time! Authentic Indian Home food. Can’t recommend enough. …
O. I.
Had the tea for two. Was a good price. Food was to a good standard and extra points for the homemade style. Only one real sore point the chai wasn't chai. Just tea with some masala.
H. J.
One of my fave places for breakfast in glasgow. Always on point
D. A.
Phenomenal! Wonderful, tasty food at incredibly modest prices. Staff lovely and seemingly unflappable, which is good given how busy the tiny restaurant is.
V. S.

B. B.

M. J.
The taste of food was ok. Tea and coffee options are good, number of Indian sweet options which is nice. The menu is fixed, with thali options and other Indian snacks options.
T.
The Pakora curry & sarson ka saag at this place can not be beaten anywhere around Glasgow, everyone should partake these two items once. Also being a strictly vegetarian place no fear of anything dodgy floating in ur curry or any fear of contamination.Authentic home made Indian food, but lovers of too spicy hyped up fake Indian food might get a bit of disappointment here as this is strictly home made without spurious quality oils and what not.Happy & healthy eating guys.Cheers!!
A. P. P.
