Really like this wee place. Nice decor, relaxed, popular (good sign) and good, friendly service (up until we wanted to pay, and then the waitress disappeared, but we'll forgive them this once). Menu has enough variety to suit most, and at very reasonable prices for 2/3 courses. And most importantly, the food is really good! I decided to go for the Steak Frites, which turned out to be an excellent decision. Cooked medium-rare to perfection, complemented by a well prepared peppercorn sauce, and delicious fries. Worth the extra!

I won a charity voucher for here and had no idea what I was in for. Needless to say, I was absolutely delighted with the quality of food here. Friendly professional staff and the lunch menu was absolutely top drawer. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Good food and good service. Time limited like a lot of other places at this time of year. Allocated an hour and a half, but we were able to add 30 minutes extra (by asking soon after booking). A bit more expensive than some places, and prices £5 higher than advertised online, at £30 for three courses, but couldn't fault the food or service, and extra points for actually providing a fork as standard along with dessert spoon! Very unusual these days.

We visited Smiths last night, we didn't realise it was only a set menu that was available. I'm pescatarian and initially struggled for a starter. However, the waitress was lovely and asked me what I would like made. She duly obliged and was so attentive. The food, atmosphere and staff were excellent and the quality of food was exceptional. Overall we had such a lovely time for our anniversary.

As ever the experience was excellent. We went out mid week having pre-booked on line. Clear cancellation and cost instructions given should things have gone wrong where given pre confirmation. Sample menus are also available. As portions are generous we opted for a main and dessert. The beef was mouthwatering. The cheeseboard was a lovely selection of cheeses, crackers, and accompaniments and the sticky toffee was a triumph apparently also. It's always a delight to eat there, and other guests were clearly enjoying their selections also. Thanks as always.

This is such a great restaurant. The menu varies only according to season availability and everything is well cooked. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. They were kind enough to print menus to welcome my mum on her 86th birthday, made a lovely fuss of her and made her day very special. Can't thank them enough.

Phoned ahead and asked if they could do vegan. They were so helpful, had a vegan menu made up for me and even had vegan bread. I had 3 courses, beetroot and onion style starter, gnocci and a chocolate and raspberry dessert. All were delicious. My partner had the vegan harissa cous cous which was delicious too. The two meat eaters were really pleased with their food too. I would definitely go again.

Lovely meal - little birthday celebration. After sharing a bottle of red decided to have another single glass... house red very nice. We had beef chin and amazing! We also enjoyed the fish and chip and the cheesecake... food is always lovely. If you've not been and you're looking for some good food, it's definately worth a visit.

We ordered after seeing a recommendation on Facebook and have been delighted by the food and service. We’ve had the Burns Supper and it was delicious. We’ll definitely be ordering again when we can and hopefully we’ll get to visit when you get to open again.

I always love this place to eat, sentimental to me as my husband and I had our first date here. It's not cheap reheated family fare but I willingly pay what I think is reasonable prices for high quality, tasty, unique food. The free refreshing aperitif served in a sherry glass is a lovely welcoming touch. Starters included beetroot risotto with feta cheese which was nice, soup, chicken liver parfait and a fishy tart with poached egg. For mains I always love the blade of beef but went for sea bass fillet in a mussel broth with little crispy potatoes. Colleagues had fish and chips, blade of beef and vegetarian tortellini. Not one complaint. Early evening - Two courses were £19, 3courses are £25. Watching my weight so didn't go for 3courses but would have went with Nutella cheesecake if my diet allowed. A lovely night, great atmosphere, table service superb and toilets downstairs are always well stocked with toiletries though not for very tall ladies owing to the low roof! As always I will definitely be back!

Just been to Smiths. From the moment we walked in the door everything was well above par, totally outstanding. We were sat and had a small complimentary apperative and bread rolls on the table, small things but they do make the difference. The staff were really, really nice, polite, friendly and welcoming. The food, amazing. I had the parfait to start - it was smooth as silk and the onion chutney was lovely too, my wife had the pigeon breast which looked (and I am assured was) mouthwatering. Each plate was a work of art and it is clear the chef's as well as the whole team, take pride in their work and the results show. The main courses did not disappoint either, I had the fish and chips - the chips were huge hand cut numbers (lovely) and the batter was light as a feather and lovely and crisp, the fish was perfect and white as snow. My wife had the beef, which looked glorious and literally fell apart when she cut into it, it was so tender and perfect. We really shouldn't have had desert, but good god, we couldn't resist. I was delighted to see rice pudding on the menu and the deserts were perfect. My wife had the creme brulee, which I had a taste of too - exceptional. The restaurant is 5 star, food is lovely, atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. Can't rate it highly enough!

Ive been to smiths with my family many times over the years for various occasions and the food is always out standing and usually the service is aswell but unfortunately this time the service was very slow. The servers were still very pleasent there was just a very long waiting time between meals and waiting for the bill to arrive felt like a lifetime and if it wasnt for that then I would be giving them 5 stars and no doubt after the next time I visit I will be up dating this to 5 stars.

Good quality food but feel it was expensive for such small portions, dare I say slightly pretentious? (in Uddingston!) I was sat in front of the door which was annoying and probably what really ruined the experience for myself as I caught a huge breeze every time the door opened, which seemed to happen a lot, but the staff where very friendly and did a great job just wish there was more on the plate as much as I enjoyed it I was hungry an hour after eating 3 courses.
