Found it to be quite a busy pub on this visit and have eaten here a few times in the past and cannot fault the menu or the food it has always been very tasty. Served a great pint of Guinness but did find it to be substantially overpriced compared to other pubs in the area ,would really given four stars if it had not been for this

The staff are always really lovely and helpful and go the extra mile to make sure everything's right. We've been a few times and the steak meals are fantastic and great value. The food is delicious and the Lion and Star serves the best onion rings ever! It could do with a wee make over but the food and service make up for that.

Popped in for lunch with family. Were seated quickly with drinks orders taken. Didn't have to wait long for our order, food was delicious hot and fresh with huuge portions, definitely come here again!

Amazing food and nice staff. It has a really nice ambiance, but at the same time if feels like a small town pub. The menu is good, and it has offers for everyone, even vegetarians, and what we ordered was pretty amazing. Will definitely go back when around, and recommend!!

Went into the lion and star before work for a spot of lunch was greeted and seated by the staff on shift I ordered the dirty denvor fries the food that arrived at my table was amazing and the portions where huge compliments to the chef on today will certainly be back

A complete turn around from the previous establishment. Popped in for some lunch, staff were welcoming and friendly and even provided some distraction for my three year old daughter. Food was well prepared and the my choice of the club sandwich was a home run. A real hidden local gem of a restaurant. Bar looked really well stocked also and a great selection of soft drinks. We'll be back!

Really enjoyed my visit to the lion and star. Its always a place I've felt relaxed and most comfortable. I always have my americano. I used to have my slice of delicious cake, but I'm dieting just now, so that's out the window unfortunately. I would absolutely recommend this place both to have drinks, whether that's soft drinks to alcohol drinks or to sit down and have a meal , from a wide choice of their delicious menu.

Had lunch today on the eat out to help out scheme. Food as always, was yummy and the atmosphere was pleasant. We expected to wait a bit longer due to current restrictions but 50mins is a long time to wait for 2 mains, and 20mins for 2 soft drinks. Service needs to speed up.

I am a regular customer here and until now I’ve never been disappointed with my order. We ordered a burger, the Lyon grill, potato skins, and a dessert. The burger and chips were delicious but missing coleslaw. The Lyon grill was over cooked and missing sausage, egg, and garlic bread. The potato skins and lemon cake were also missing from the order. Instead we received a container with some blob of I don’t know what and half a spoilt cheesecake. I would like to give the restaurant a chance to rectify the situation but the phone is off the line. UPDATE: I was contacted by manager Simon who was very apologetic and concerned with how the order turned out the way it had. He ammended the situation and sent out a new order of food. Absolutely delicious! Im very happy with how the situation was handled in the end.

Food delicious, staff are friendly and helpful, can be hit or miss in the evenings at weekends whether its busy or not. Price of drinks are a bit high for a pub diner in Kirkintilloch but not prohibitively so. Real world is you don't really get much change from a tenner for a couple of pints. All said and done nice friendly atmosphere, prodominant age group seems to be late thirties plus but that is observations only from my limited experience there. It may be quite different I'm sure during the week and through the day. Worth a visit.

I once ate 44 plates at a Yo Sushi all you can eat hour. I was defeated by Lion and Star's £8 veggie burger. So. Much. Food. And it was really nice. The £9 ploughman's would have been enough for two of us, and was beautifully presented. We needed a doggy bag, which they provided (cardboard, not polystyrene!) Staff were super friendly and attentive. Extensive cocktail menu and a variety of draught offerings. Wheelchair accessible entrance, though toilets were tucked away at the back so a bit of a slalem with a mobility aid. There's a children's area away from the bar, and booths can be reserved. Music not loud, but it's a medium sized venue so patrons were quite loud :D

Met up with a friend for some dinner 20/02/19. Place was nicely decorated and very clean. Firstly it took over 20 mins for someone to come and take our order , we then didn't get the right food. We had ordered a burger with bacon and cheese and were brought a chicken , bacon and cheese burger. We ordered Scampi and were brought Fish N Chips. My friend send the fish back and it was immediately changed. I decided to keep the burger as it did look nice and i wasn't too bothered . The food was all very tasty and was huge portions. The waiter did apologise and gave us a free ice cream sundae however after such big portions we were not able to eat very much of it. Tasty food but staff seemed more interested in their phones than paying attention.

Nice place friendly staff. Food always fresh and tasty. Good they offer table service and a tab when your eating in. Beer was a little expensive especially with a wetherspoons across the road competing. Would recommend this place though.
