Reviews of The Butchershop Bar & Grill
D. S.
The food was all quite good. It is not a cheap restaurant, but the quality and service justify the price, in my opinion.
The service was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about the menu.
The atmosphere was also pleasant. Seems to be a good place to for either business, friends, or dates.

Best steak I have ever had in my life! I visited here at lunchtime on Wednesday the 15th of June. Our waitress was very polite and attentive from the minute we walked in, throughout the meal and even when we were leaving. We were so happy with the service. I ordered smoked salmon for my starter. It was really tasty but I could have done with a bigger portion. I had the rump steak for my mains with fries and 2 portions of vegetables. The steak was a very very high quality butchers cut! The chef cooked it to perfection! This was honestly the best day I've ever had in my life! The sides were full of flavour and were very well presented.

One of the best steak restaurants in Glasgow! Sharing a tomahawk steak is an experience in itself. Especially if you start with the philly cheese steak spring rolls or black pudding scotch egg!
Make sure to try the onion rings, best in town. And the mac n cheese, chips and sauces are all great too!
L. C.
Visited on a Saturday night, place was fully booked. Asked waitress a few questions regarding steaks and wine recommendation and she couldn't advise as just a new member of staff. Felt sorry for her being put on the floor without that training. She did request recommendations from another member of staff.
Food was lovely. We had steak spring rolls to share which were amazing! We both had a fillet steak, chips, mash and veg. We also ordered bone marrow. First time I'd tried this, not to my liking.
Food was well presented and very good. Would recommend and will visit again.

A firm favourite in the West End! Delicious, aged steaks, fantastic red wine and friendly and attentive service. The largest cuts are priced per 100g so make sure you work out what you're going to spend before you order or you could be in for a surprise! The meat was cooked beautifully, and was juicy and delicious, although the sides could have been a bit more generous. That said - we didn't manage a dessert so maybe that's a good thing!
S. B.
The best steak in Glasgow. A little bit pricey but it's worth spending that bit extra versus some other places for the quality. Service is what you would expect for this standard of venue, staff very attentive and knowledgeable. Nice little mix of starters, all of which were really enjoyable and not too big given what comes after. I'd maybe like a bit more veg on the side dishes, comes in a dainty little pan which looks great. Bernaise sauce is brilliant, could dip their chips in it for hours, so more-ish. Sticky toffee pudding nice and light and even something basic like an ice cream is presented really well.
I. W.
Great lunch. T-bone steak was cooked to perfection. Chips were really fluffy inside but with a good crisp on the outside. Not been here for a few years and have now been reminded that this is the best steak restaurant in Glasgow or Edinburgh.
K. B.
We reserved because the restaurant is usually very busy most days. Especially at the weekends. We arrived and were given a very cosy seat for two at the window as requested. We ordered the black pudding scotch egg and scallops for starters and the Ayrshire Pork Chop & Tomahawk steak with blue cheese butter and pepper sauce done perfectly to order, medium rare. I had beer and my wife had diet coke but we also had water and two glasses of fruity red wine which was recommended by the friendly staff. Drinks were served quickly, starters and main courses were served in good time and the staff were very attentive of everything we needed. The atmosphere was homely, warm and inviting. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. We had plenty of time to digest and relax and the cheque was dealt wih discretely and professionally. Thoroughly recommend this lovely restaurant. Very good value.

One of my colleagues booked us a visit here and I have to say it’s the nicest steak I’ve ever had. We were well looked after by the staff who were very friendly and professional and made some great recommendations on both the food and wine.
I’m now looking for excuses to come back to Glasgow so I can visit here again
L. Z.
Me and my husband celebrated our first anniversary in this restaurant. We had a great experience there. Nice staff, food and drink! Highly recommend!
J. C.
The restaurant is generally very good. But there was an episode———I did not mean to be so rude to sit down without permission. I just arrived the UK and didn't know much about foreign restaurant culture. So I found a window seat and sat down without the waiter's permission. After sitting and waiting for a while, a male waiter who was far away from me shouted at me loudly and angrily “leave this table now, this table doesn’t belong to you, the area is not open.”
Then I realized later that I should wait for the waiter to lead me. in my country, it’s fine if you see any empty tables you can sit down for yourself. If It’s not available it will have a sign on the table. even if you are in the wrong place, staff would come to you and kindly reminding me the table someone has booked or this area is not open for lunch. Absolutely not loudly reprimanding me in a high posture.
I felt particularly aggrieved at the time. Because today is my birthday. Away from family and friends, only find a restaurant to eat alone. It really made me feel sad to have this experience, the dishes here are still good, this restaurant prepared a birthday plate for me. Thanks for another beautiful waitress’s patience.
Anyway, The atmosphere here was nice. But I won't come a second time, and I think I won't recommend it to my friends. The tone and manner of this waiter spoke made me feel that I was not respected
A. L.
Best steak I've had! The onion rings were amazing too! Pictures do the talking, staff were very welcoming.

We took our chances for a walk in and were quickly seated. We ditched a starter and just went straight for the 800g Chateaubriand and it was outstanding, cooked to perfection and was oozing with flavour, the Mac and cheese and chili prawns (bit cold) sides, were also tremendous. The brandy jue sauce was so tasty. We even pushed our luck and our trousers waist button and went for desert and the biggest sticky toffee pudding I've ever seen turned up and it was delicious. The service as always was excellent. All in all, another 10/10 dining experience at this particular Butchershops. We will be back.
B. W.
Really good experience, service is perfect. Food is great and cocktails are really extra surprising flavor. Will come again
C. M.
First class streak house. Loved our night at the Butchershop Bar and Grill and we are actively planning our next visit. The staff are fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable about every aspect of their menu. Our Bone in Sirloin for two was immense. The sides tremendous and the sweets were amazing.
M. E.
Wonderful filet! The scotch egg was amazing! It’s pricy but also 100% grass fed. Would recommend
R. H.
Great meal. Had petite filet and rocket salad. Desert was amazing with white chocolate orange, and raspberry swirl in a cone. Ruby was awesome server. Drinks were great. Love to come back again.
H. B.
Best steak I have had in my life by a country mile (coming from someone that has a steak a week). Our waiter Dave was exceptional and the staff made my partners birthday extra special. Overall an incredible dining experience
N.
We came for a family dinner on a Sunday and left full and happy. Our starters (salmon and gnocchi) were delicious. For our main dish we had fillet steak and a sharing cut of on the bone Sirloin. Both were cooked perfectly and were accompanied by lovely sides. Our server was very nice and helpful ( girl with red hair 😁). Place has great ambience! I only wish bathrooms would be a bit cleaner.
Overall we had a great night.
R. T.
We had a table of 12 to celebrate a 25th work anniversary and the staff were excellent. The food and cocktails were amazing too. One of my favourite places and I’ll definitely be back. Special thanks to Alex who was taking care of our table and was very attentive.
C. C.
Great food, nice staff, good atmosphere and very reasonable prices. Everything from appetiser to dessert was absolutely delicious. The steak was so tasty and perfectly cooked, plus their garlic butter was literally to die for!
A. G.
Was here as a treat for my daughter's graduation. I can honestly say it was outstanding. Food was top quality, steaks were cooked exactly as asked. Staff were knowledgeable and very attentive, the place itself is clean and well presented. Would I recommend it? Yes 200%
Would I go again? Definitely.
Highly recommended from me and the rest of my family.
E. E.
The steak was decent (could be seared slightly more for a better look and more flavour), but the scotch egg starter was sensational and extremely good value for the price. Every ingredient stated was distinct and combined beautifully with the other flavours. The dish hit key notes - the different textures, the different tastes, the flavours, the smell, and of course, the simple but elegant presentation.
Everything else in the restaurant was as one would expect per service, ambience etc.
I would give 4 stars; however, I feel the quality of the scotch egg gives an indication of the quality of the chefs in charge, and hence the quality of the other dishes on the menu (I hope I'm right). 5 stars.
O. R.
Came in for a birthday Sunday Roast. Food and service was excellent - including the special surprise dessert at the end.
L. R.
Great little bar and restaurant, Beavertown ales on tap, which is rare.
Price is slightly expensive, but with such great taste and service it's worth that little extra.
Steak is sensational, the pepper'd sauce is next level! The broccoli steak needs work, broccoli tastes bland, and the cous cous has too much lime added. Staff are very observant and on the ball with service. Will defo be back for more of that steak and sauce.
If it wasn't for that damn steak colliflour you would of got 5 stars easy. But on the other hand maby this is a dig to all the vegans who pop in 🤔 Thank you all👌✌️
I. A.
A little pricey but all food great - ribeye, chips and onion rings. Nice smart interior and polite staff.
C. H.
Great food experience, great staff and lovely decor. Had Sunday lunch it was delicious and a great atmosphere, brilliant views of Kelvingrove museum also. I would highly recommend The Butchershop Bar & Grill. Looking forward to trying their sister restaurant in Merchant City.
E. O. A.
We have been here a couple of times during the day and also patronised the Sister restaurant the Spanish Butcher in Merchant City which was really great...So I thought I'll try this place out with my family for a late Evey dinner plus it was my wife's birthday as well. The food was great however the service was very slow (couldn't get desert for my little one on time which was very disappointing, my sister who is used to fine dinning/ resides abroad just thought the service was non existent and wasn't impressed at all with the whole evening). Honestly, I think the service should have been better and the steward should have been more attentive. I suppose we would just stick to the sister restaurant going forward.
G. M.
Lovely meal, staff where very friendly service was good. The festive lunch menu had a fair selection
S. W.
Absolutely wonderful food here, steak was very good.
A. B. W.
Excellent visit to The Butchershop. Alex our host was fab and the recommendations he gave us were amazing. The food tasted great and was cooked to perfection. The new bartender made us 2 cocktails based on our likes and they tasted awesome. I can't wait to go back and have already recommended it to so many people! Keep up the good work and we will see you again.
J. M.
Great steaks and generous enough portions. We visited during EOTHO on a Tuesday lunch so was busy. We overheard a few people who had the wrong steaks brought out but no complaints from the food and service we had! I would only say that the warm loaf should come out sliced. Resulted in crumbs all over the table but not work taking a star away for that.
D.
This place is incredible yes its pricey but good steak isnt cheap
We had a party of 8 everything was cooked to perfection, order was correct , cuts of meat where explained to parties who werent sure overall the experience was just so good.
I personally ordered the pork chop , mash and black pudding with sweet gravy was perfect.
Would highly recommend going here.
A. G.
This was my birthday lunch, had found it on Google the night before and after somewhere else was closed were got very lucky to end up here after a walk through the perfect.
Picking from the set lunch menu with the steak fries supplement and we choose very well. What an amazing steak. Cooked perfectly. The garlic butter on top was perfect. Mopped up by the chips.
Sticky toffee pudding for dessert and a great view. Can't ask for more.
a. m.
Nice food and helpful staff. Wouldn't deviate from the menu when one of our group asked for a diane sauce. Sides are a bit expensive £6 for 8 chantenay carrots or a small side of mac n cheese. Overall would recommend 👍🏻
G.
I was tempted by the set menu but then decided to go for the 35 day dry ages cote de boufe. It was very delicious. It's not exactly cheap but it was a very nice cut of beef. I enjoyed chewing the meat off the bone. The bread was served warm and was very good. I ate too much and it made me feel very full at the end.
J. L.
It was a wonderful place to have a steak~
N. J. Q.
Took my Stepdaughter here on Sunday after being recommended and must say it was faultless! Super bottle of Beaujolais Noveau to compliment a fantastic Fillet with pepper sauce
Will be returning
W. C.
Amazing roast and dessert. The roast consisted of delectable roast beef and veg. It was also the perfect portion size. For dessert we had the peanut butter parfait and it is one of my favorite desserts of all time. Book ahead, this place gets busy on a Sunday. Staff was incredibly friendly and efficient for how busy this place gets.
A. M.
Great service and advice from Alex, quality of food was first class, they also support local produce of alcoholic drinks which is a nice touch, will definitely return.
S.
Could not fault on any category. Staff could not be better. Food excellent and all you could hope for in a restaurant. Will definitely recommend it for all occasions.
A. C.
The Butchershop had amazing service by the waiters. Apart from that, it had great food to offer as well. The beef was juicy and tender. However, it may be rather pricey, one piece of steak costing about 30 pounds. Nonetheless, it is still worth a try at this restaurant.
C. B.
This place really served us up a memorable day, tasty food, lovely, refreshing drinks and friendly, welcoming staff. Be back again soon
G. Q.
Was fully booked indoors but on a spring evening we sat outside with views of Glasgow University and Kelvin grove park. Service very welcoming and excellent food. Soft shell crab and oysters starters. Rump and T-bone cooked to medium (properly). The cucumber Collins was refreshing
G. C.
We have been many times to this restaurant to celebrate all kinds of occasions over the years. The food is top notch as is the service, the setting and the ambience.
M. T.
Didn’t manage to take a picture because it was too good
T. M.
Booked a table Sunday lunchtime for the evening, choice of menu either pretheatre or alacarte, both my partner & self ordered steak, fries & mushrooms..Food was cooked the way we wanted it, desserts absolutely delish peanut butter parfait & creme caramel.yumyum! Great staff ,great food, lovely restaurant, get what you pay for..Ever visit Glasgow again, will go revisit :)
W. R.
Best steak I have had in a long while. Lovely attentive service. I didn't really enjoy the cheese and biscuits, it was incredibly strong some of the cheese and it came with oatcake biscuits which I'm not a big fan of. Lovely meal though in a nice setting, wine excellent
W. M.
Amazing staff. Food was great. Drinks slightly over priced. Overall amazing
G. P.
After being let in to the busy restaurant without a reservation we were lucky enough to get a cancellation and ate the scallops, chicken, and fantastic fillet steak. All very well cooked and served. Waiter with the long greying hair (sorry!) Made an effort and made our night. Thankyou
B. W.
Great service, very well looked after and absolutely amazing food.
T. P.
A LOVELY ROAST. We came her for Sunday Lunch and left very happy. I had a few pints of Neck Oil with my roast beef; the beef was cooked perfectly. The wife had pork which she said was extremely good. She also said, and I quote, "the Gnocchi starter was out of this world".
The staff were very attentive and friendly. Would come back.
M. M.
Oh my word! A true meat lovers paradise, just check out the photos. Get the philly steak spring rolls, the bone marrow, we shared a tomerhawk steak with every side possible between 4 people and we rolled out the door afterwards stuffed to the brim. Accommodated last minute on a Monday night and were still lovely. Highly recommended and cannot wait to go back!
I. L.
Loved the Sunday Roast. We all had beef. Two of us shared the roast rump. Generous portion of roast potatoes, veg and 2 Yorkshire puddings. The gravy was better than I've had anywhere else! And it was perfect accompaniment to the meal. We all really enjoyed and I'd hate to have been doing Veganuary and missed out on this.
H. D.
Great food, excellent wine list and lovely view
Two shared the lamb special, and two the Tomahawk. The meat was so tender. The mash was amazing (so much butter must have been in it), chunky fries were better than skinny (but these were still amazing). The chipotle beans were super posh baked beans and scrummy.
Great wine selection, and a quite a few available in a 500ml caraffe.
S. K.
We wandered in here on a whim whilst strolling around Glasgow (and were admittedly underdressed; we're grateful not to have been thrown out!). The food, drink, decor and service were all excellent. Best steak I've had in a long while!
C. G.
This was an amazing experience! The service right from the start was excellent! The atmosphere was great! Made to feel right at home! Drink service was very good and the food was delicious! Definitely worth a visit! I will be back for sure!
M. H.
Truly couldn’t have asked for a better dinner here. Service, food and wine were top notch from beginning to end. No one tries to sell you on a swankier steak, you feel comfortable and at home. So many things are house made. I’ll dream of this meal for years yet. Thank you!
K. J.
Booked here for a friend's birthday dinner. Absolutely fantastic service the food was absolutely out this world. Steak cooked to perfection. Fantastic service and very friendly.
L. K.
Wonderful food & excellent service. Very accommodating
A. P.
Nice restaurant. Great starters (gnocchi and cheese steak spring rolls). The steaks were delicious as well. There are a few tables with a view over kelvingrove park and university which makes the dinner even better.
P. P.
Foods are good and everything is okay. However, I don’t feel well when I pay the bill using cash, the waitress asked me whether I need change, and I answer, yes, I need. The waitress asked me again and I give the same answer. I don’t know why this simple question need to ask me twice and the expression of the waitress is very impatient. Moreover, the restaurant has gotten service fee and I have paid the service fee. I think paying or not paying the tips is up to me😊. I don’t meet the same behavior before eating other restaurants.
H. D.
The best steak I've ever had, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and can't wait to be back. The staff really made our night as well, everyone was so lovely!
E. M.
Exceptional meal, great service, lovely space, very reasonable price. I got the chicken liver parfait as an entree and the sunday roast for main; it was beautifully cooked and well-accompanied.
k.
Probably one of the best meals, certainly the best steak I've ever tasted. I had food envy as my friends had the tomahawk. The flavour was other worldly.
S. H.
Consistently the best steak and service we've had. A simple menu with a perfect selection. Worth every penny.
C. S.
21 pounds 3-Course for lunch set (corned beef, steak, sticky toffee). very nice. if you order sticky toffee, purchase with coffee.
K. W.
I would give them a 10 if I could . We had Sunday roast here and it was by far the best we have had since we have been in the uk. The staff were amazing and friendly. They found out my husband and I were on our honeymoon and gave us a free dessert. Very much appreciated !! We highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
M. Z.
Very great food! We showed up without a reservation, yet the staff managed to find a table for us. We'd definitely recommend to book a seat, especially since I can highly recommend their food. The atmosphere and staff is super friendly and the meat is cooked to perfection.
d. b.
Always an enjoyable experience great service and excellent quality of food.
M. A.
Starter was a but small, steak was good although the blue cheese sauce wasn't the greatest. I'd go back but wouldn't be my first choice for steak
A. M.
Absolutely delicious food and wonderful service here before our gig on Friday night .Highly recommend this restaurant!
N. m.
Great place for carnivores, but I'm a pescatarian, but there we're a couple of things on the menu I could have. Outstanding service.
G. D.
Food and service lovely no complaints, the menu on the other hand very confusing, feels like it's pushing you towards two sharing..
For that reason 3 stars, group of 4 and all felt the same .
M. H.
Classic interior, delicious food and a lovely staff makes this place a certain success. And the Scottish egg is on another level...absolutely devine!
S. C.
Very quick and polite service. Delicious food as well! The environment and the atmosphere are ideal for this kind of hospitality. I would be glad to eat again there; of course mostly on Tuesdays that there is a meal deal.
i. h.
Delicious food (especially dessert 😇) very nice interier and pleasant staff 👍🏼
C. G.
Very beautiful venue, the service was great. We had Matthew looking after us and he was on point. Even if he had to deal with a strange and wonderful bunch like us. Drinks and food were great, all my veggies were a little on the oily side but who goes to a steak restaurant and expects vegan cocktails right? 😉 thank you again for looking after us.
C. K.
Second time here and once again, I am not disappointed. Ordered the Rump steak (medium rare) with a side of mushrooms and glazed carrots, and everything about it was perfect. It was so good there was nothing at all left on the plate at the end.
Highly recommended. If your budget can stretch a little further, try the fillet steak - you'll be hard pressed to find better in Glasgow.
S. C.
Went for a company dinner with a client, simply superb meal - the signature steaks were extraordinary and the non steal option of the chicken was very tasty. Would highly recommend, service was top notch also and very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Will definitely be back with future clients.
S. M.
This place has 5 star food no doubt. The steak menu is fantastic & they have offers on throughout the week as the 'a la carte' menu can be slightly pricey. The table service is very professional & cater to any requests. I didn't appreciate the somewhat rude person that greeted me though stating I didn't have a reservation when I had the reservation on my phone & showed him it, For him to then walk away & serve behind the bar.
What I would say however is that this is only one personal interaction that didn't go well. The food is fantastic & the waiters are just as good. Would definetly recommend, But book a table!
A. M.
Great service, amazing steaks, fabulous wine...what more could you want 😘
A. D.
We have been here several times before the staff are always excellent and the food is exceptional so plesent you are never rushed
A. T.
This is now my favourite place to eat in Glasgow.
Went on a Tuesday and it was nearly fully booked a week in adavnce. Great sign.
Quality of food and service was exceptional. Cant fault anything about the place.
A. B.
Fantastic night out, great service and brilliant food. I recommend for friends getting together, business dinner or gift to someone. We will be back again this year!
J. M.
Food was wow amazing am still stuffed Table booked for 4 pm gona burst lol place and staff awesome
B. G. K.
Great place for special occasion and steak lovers
L. L.
Food was good as per, but service was disappointing this time we visited. Our table was next to the bar and the staff was very noise carrying on and I heard one guy swearing very loudly which wasn't very professional especially for a high end restaurant. Also, one guy just put our plates down on our table and walked away without so much "enjoy your meal or can I get you anything else".
J. C.
Great food. Great service. Staff did a wee surprise k requested) for my gfs birthday. Everything was really tasty. Wouldn't normally chuck £140 on a meal for 2, (einrt, olives, cocktail included), but if you've got the brass, or as a treat, wonderful experience. Again.. Staff were superb and attentive.
L. B.
Stunning food, great surroundings & excellent service. One of my favourite places to go but can be fully booked at weekends so planning ahead is recommended
W. M.
Outstanding best steak I've had. Our waiter coco was very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend
N. H.
The bread for the table was okay. It had to be cut by yourself and was very crusty which made a bit of a mess. It should've come with a bit more butter, but really we could have asked for more.
Probably the best steak I've ever had (Chateaubriand) and also had an excellent Scotch egg made with black pudding to start which I would absolutely recommend.
Overall the meal wasn't cheap (including wine), but the quality more than made up for the price.
J. M.
Excellent food and service. Will definitely return soon
D.
As always, the restaurant was amazing, with very friendly staff and food that stunned our guest. We love to visit for any occassion
J. S.
Best meal in Glasgow. Great service by Fraser who offered a great pairing of Scotch with the bone in Sirloin. The kids menus are great and are also a wonderful value.
B. P.
Fantastic dinner, the staff were superb, the food delicious, the drinks excellent.
R. W.
A wonderful experience. The way steak should be.
Full marks to the staff for the excellent service.
T. M.
Superb steaks, superb service!! Every aspect was faultless. Thank you for a fabulous evening!
J. M.
Exemplary and exceptional. My wife and I visited on an evening in December 2021. There was a very well valued seasonal menu, but we opted for A La Carte, where we would find our favourite choices.
Our mains were a pair of fillets - blue and medium. Cooked to perfection. My blue fillet was sealed perfectly, succulent and brimming with flavour.
Our waiter & co were always on hand to make our experience as pleasant and comfortable as possible - and after a myriad selection of cocktails and wines, I hadn't had to refill my own glass even once. Many thanks to the staff, specifically Alex, who was courteous and accommodating.
We finished with a time-tested sticky toffee pudding, and was not disappointed.
An understated value in this restaurant is the familiar and warm ambience. It's location means that many international voices and accents find their way to the tables. Much to the benefit of the tone, this is an interesting cultural intersection of customers.
My surprise win for the evening is the exciting pork cheek - the texture was to die for. It melts in the mouth, and has that unique flavour you'll only find with this particular cut.
We will be back!
B. M.
Nice food, good service and decent value Sunday lunch deal.
M. A. d. H.
An absolutely fantastic steakhouse. I am often skeptical about paying a good amount for a steak, given past disappointments of over priced meat. The butchershop bar and grill is not such a place. In fact I got exactly what I had hoped for and dreamed of. A succulent, perfectly cooked 300g sirloin steak. As a student attending such a classy restaurant, I felt perhaps a tad out of place, but managed to enjoy the experience to the fullest given the focus on meat appreciation. Very polite and knowledgeable waiters who advised us about upcoming deals that would be well suited for students looking for a celebratory experience every once in a while! Will definitely be back until I have tried each steak on the menu! Highly recommend!
J. “. C.
Popped in again for the most perfect Sunday roast. The trimmings were countless and the wine was excellent. Our server, Rock, was a wonderfully attentive chap, super friendly and super cool... we've been before, we came back, and will do so again.
E. C.
Very helpful knowledgeable staff, from the menu to the bar. Nice atmosphere and the food is amazing. Recommend the cote de boeff with marrowbone and side of bernaise sauce. Vegetarians and vegans; look away!
M. ‘.
very very good !Excellent service!!!The onion rings are really juicy and crisp . steak is very thick, perfect!
G. S.
Fantastic food, probably the best steakhouse in Glasgow and definitely worth a visit
M. M.
Excellent food and service !
C. M.
I was really looking forward to our visit here but we were a bit underwhelmed after hearing so many good things and reviews. It may have been to do with us and not feeling 100% but the one thing that wasn't great was the atmosphere, there was just a lack of ambience which was really unfortunate. Not sure I'd go back but maybe will need to, to give it another chance and see if it was just am off night!

Absolutely fab! We came for our 2 year anniversary from Edinburgh and we're sure going to be coming again each year.
The steakes are amazing, just how we like them and every single time on point. The staff are absolute stars! So knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Recommend 100%. Especially our waiter today, Skie, was a legend! Thank you for the amazing service!
c. m.
Popped in for sunday lunch -not dissapointed! Great service and food, great portions too!
C. L.
Excellent food, served by very polite, friendly staff.
S. d. Z.
Really enjoyed the dinner, very good overall. Food was amazing, service might've been a tad faster.
I. S.
Excellent food, good service and a nice atmosphere. Definitely recommended for steak lovers.
G.
The staff here is oh so polite! And in such a kind way that actually is worth pointing out. Meat was cooked exactly how I wanted it and I told the lovely waitress to compliment the chef as the fries were fried to perfection, so crispy and light. The restaurant is charming and relaxed and there is a calm I hardly have seen anywhere else in town between the staff the customers and the surrounding, especially during these times with reduced staff and restrictions. Bravo!
B. L.
Tasty food and good service. Reasonably priced.
E. C.
Expensive but worth the cost. Go when you have a full appetite as steaks can be generous. Pleasant courteous staff, attentive but discreet. Best to book esp weekend nights.
S. M.
Great food and service. Range of steaks and sides is excellent. Great choice of drinks and wines.
Fairly expensive but worth the money.
J. B.
Amazing experience. Brilliant food great cocktails
R. L.
The steaks are amazing. Plenty of sides to choose from and the staff are lovely.
G. W.
Fantastic food great atmosphere not bad pricing
A. S.
The food here is incredible. I had dinner with my partner here last night and I would recommend to everyone.
R. T.
The food is normally amazing but everything else tonight really was a let down.
Ignored when we came in, then sent to the bar whilst our table was prepared (which I discovered was already ready and waiting when I went to the bathroom), but weren't offered a drink, or even acknowledged by the bar staff.
The medium rare steak was identical to the rare steak, which was basically identical to the blue steak all at the same table.
The sticky toffee pudding was burnt and tasted like it.
The women's bathroom, by all accounts, an absolute disaster.
The strangest part was being ignored for 45 minutes after out desserts, we were all hoping for another cocktail or a coffee, but we got walked past so much, we didn't want to wait, so we just got the bill. They were very keen on that part of serving us.
Then we had to just sort of stand and wait in the middle of our restaurant because nobody thought to ask us if we would like our jackets.
All in all, a fairly disappointing £340 meal for 4 I'd say.
Hate to say it, but tonight could well have been my last visit.
J. B.
Very nice food, very friendly and helpful team and comforting interior.
P. K.
Ordered food from the pre theatre menu; really nice. We sat outside and the views of Glasgow university were great😍.
J. M.
Every time I go there, it just seems to get better, my fourth visit and considering I live in Swansea, Wales, that's not bad. Scotch egg starter, rich and umptious followed by a melt in the mouth rare sirloin, what more can I say. Service was excellent and on the ball. A gem of a restaurant for any carnivore !!
p. h.
For me, the best steak in Glasgow.. factor in great service and a stunning view of Glasgow Uni..and it's a no brained.
D. P.
Starters were abs fantastic - tomahawk steak exceptional.
M. M.
food was amazing as was the service, would definitely recommend x
M. T.
Stunning food and awesome service. Love this place. If you want great steaks or burgers be sure to visit!
K. R.
Great location, lovely inside with incredibly attentive staff who make sure you are looked after without being ott. The set lunch menu is such good value for money too. All in all this is a great place to eat that caters for all diets at a reasonable price for the quality of the food.
L. W.
Fantastic food, it was our anniversary and staff made it special.
I. C.
Fantastic staff, amazing food, great wine. Brilliant night.
D. L.
Incredibly tasty food with great staff!
M. S.
Fantastic food, the scallops were out of this world.

Had a great dining experience at the Butchershop. Great food and even better service. Will definitely go again when I'm in the Glasgow area!
J. B.
Side contained 3 small prawns. Skinny fries, not crispy.
Steak and onion rings were nice.
J. S.
I was lucky enough to stay around the corner from The Butchershop during my stay in Glasgow, and had the best meal of my entire trip. From the cocktails (sweet Manhattan and the Butcher’s Smash) to the appetizers (the steak rolls and pan fried gnocchi, which I will dream about for weeks) and the rib-eye with mashed potatoes and garlic green beans… we didn’t have a mediocre moment in the whole meal. I can’t recommend The Butchershop enough!
C. G.
Love to visit, great for
Business or leisure trips.
J. S.
Food was great. Great selection of meat and cuts. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great steak!
X. M.
One of the best restaurants in Glasgow. Ask for the banoffee sundae!!
L. B.
Food was honestly excellent, however one waiter made the experience uncomfortable really pushy and talked to us like we were idiots that could not comprehend English, or the meaning of words. the lady waitress was lovely and polite. i will return but someone has to chat to that guy.
G. G.
Celebrated a birthday here. Booked an early dinner but it was still really busy. The staff were brilliant; friendly and attentive. Nice informal atmosphere. All five of us ordered various cuts of steak, and all in agreement - one of the best in Glasgow. Highly recommended.
N. R.
Had a fantastic Sunday Roast at this excellent restaurant.. the food & service was perfect and the bloody mary's saved our lives!
P. H.
Great ambience, fab maitre d and service was swift, and to top it off fab scallops, steak , chips and sticky toffee pudding - highly recommend
P. P.
Amazing service, brillant food. We were visiting Glasgow and turned up without reservations. The manager was understanding and organised tables for 8 of us. 2 families with two children eaxh. Very Covid safe and a good dining experience
M. M.
Far to expensive my steak salad was nothing special the strips of steak were tough i did ask for well done but tne weren't edible. The staff are very friendly and helpful
임.
Good taste of steak and tap beer and cocktail, kind employees.
M. M.
Superb wine & food menu to choose from. Rump & Fillet steaks melted in the mouth.
J. S.
What a wonderful evening. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the whole experience was exceptional. The staff were great as usual. A special thanks to Andrew and the team. An experience not to be missed.

Firstly I know if life first hand as I sell cars how important reviews are to any business. So taking the time to write this is easy to do. This was only my second time visiting the Butcher Shop, this is my girlfriends favourite restaurant. We were taking her parents so it was truly amazing and couldn't recommend this restaurant more. On my first visit I opted for the Rib Eye and tasted Lynseys Fillet, well I was sold on the Rib Eye well this time I ordered the Fillet medium with the garlic butter skinny fries and the rocket salad, accopmanied with my favourite drink Glennfiddich. Lynsey had the same Fillet and both her parents ordered Sea Bass. The atmosphere was lively and lovely seeing such a busy resturant. The staff couldn't be nicer and Matthew our waiter was tremendous. Thank you to all the team and hope anyone that's never been to the Butchershop reads this and feels a visit is a must. Thanks again for the most amazing night and meal. FIVE STARS+
M. “. A.
Magnificent. Visited on a Tuesday night & we were pleasantly surprised by their steak vs burger deal (two steaks or two burgers--or one of each) plus skinny chips AND a bottle of wine for £35! Really terrific quality plus beautiful decor and atmosphere. Our server, Rachel, was wonderful. Highly recommended.
A. P.
Really lovely meal here. My wife and I went to celebrate her passing a big exam, and I was fully expecting to be paying a big bill by the end of the night. However, thanks to a really amazing special they had on, we enjoyed two lovely rump steaks and wine and I left with a skip in my step! The service was brilliant, the food was excellent and the atmosphere warm. Will be back!
B. W.
Everybody in our group of 6 had a steak, all different cuts and all extremely tasty, will definitely be back to this restaurant
S. M.
Amazing steaks and good service
R. M.
We visited here to celebrate our engagement. Really enjoyed learning about the different sharing cuts. Steak initially came out and was way under done, however the waitress was really apologetic and a new one was brought as quickly as possible. Really nice staff and good choice of steaks. Dessert menu wasn't really to my taste but would definitely go back to try more of their main courses!
S. K.
Incredible from start to finish!! We were warmly welcomed by the manager Alex, he took us over to our table and he explained how the menu works. He then passed us onto our waitress Rachel, what a credit she is to the business nothing was to much trouble and she looked after each of her guests like they were family! The food was beautiful and the atmosphere was excellent. Jason and Andy should be so proud of their team. Keep up the incredible work x
T. S.
We came in for a late night casual business meal and were a bit loud after happy hour. Our waiter Alex had an amazing sense of humor with our raucous crew and took it all in stride. The food was delicious, perfectly timed and very well prepared. The tomahawk steaks will be a conversation and a great memory for years to come
L. B.
Had the shared roast for two... Starter, main and desert. Absolutely beautiful food, no complaints... Shame we couldn't have wine with it due to Covid. Slightly on the pricey side tho, a fiver for a Coke is pushing it!
D. C.
First visit today, thanks to a 50th birthday gift... Spent way more than the voucher value. Was worth every penny.
Andrew, our waiter set the pace for a great family meal.
Steaks all round, everyone cooked to perfection. Great selection on the menu, excellent choice of beers and wines.
Will definitely be back ;0)
H. F.
Second time eating here.
We ordered a dozen oysters and there was three that was tiny, didn't even look like oysters, we told the staff and they were happy to change it to normal size oysters.
It was really busy so the food took really long. Place is nice and comfy so not that bad to wait.
The desserts was really nice. Banoffee sundae and the three scoops of ice cream.
A. A.
The festive set menu here was delicious, and the restaurant itself has a great vibe. They also have a great drinks menu, with a good selection of nice beer.
D. D.
It's OK but for prices it should be alot better.
Given the choice i Would rather go to Meat Bar, located in the city centre.
D.
A busy restaurant but the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, offering absolutely exceptional service. The steaks are delicious and by far the best I have ever come across in Glasgow. There is a limit to how long you can dine for during busy periods but it was just about enough for an evening meal for two.
W. E.
Great atmosphere and food! Had a delicious Sunday roast and the service was exemplary. But it was even too much so; I was asked 5 times by different people how I was finding my main course. Charging for the olives also seems like a bit much. I had two olives... 4 pounds. Anyhow I do recommend.
R. G.
Enjoyed the steak. Although disappointed they ran out of ribeye. Service was bang on. Would recommend if you're a steak lover
P. S.
WOW, WOW, WOW 🤩‼️
If you love steak this place is deffo
for you. Had late lunch there on the 30th November. The choice of steak cuts is UNBELIEVABLE and you can have any weight you think you can manage, cooked to PERFECTION. Staff work thier socks off too make you happy.
G. Q.
Best steak in Glasgow for sure. Lots of different cuts, proper explanation of what they all are. Can spend from £ to £££ depending on what you want. Staff all excellent, helpful, friendly and fast and they go the extra mile for special occasions. Good cocktail list as well, although ale selection weak (Williams Brothers or Brewdog would be great, ta). All round excellent though.
Edit - been back several times, 5* every time.
Edit 2 - been back several more times, favourite particular steak is a tomahawk to share.
D. W.
Amazing food and service will definitely be back 👍👍👍
B. S.
Great steak and the onion rings were to die for!!
E. M.
best place i have EVER eaten at. their steaks are beyond comprehension. starters, mains, and desserts all made incredibly. the staff and animated and helpful so service is good and efficient. amazing place. truly.
A. P.
This restaurant is excellent in every respect. I went to the Butchershop for a birthday meal with my partner. Staff were very friendly as soon as we arrived and there is a great atmosphere. Our waiter bought example cuts over to our table and was very knowledgeable about all the steak they had on offer. The food was incredible, with a great selection of sides and sauces. I will be recommending this restaurant to everyone and will be back in a heartbeat.
k. w.
Was here on during COVID when there was no drinking in restaurants. The food was outstanding, the table service was excellent, the atmosphere was friendly and cozy. I would definitely recommend and I will be returning in the near future.
V. P.
Great food! Great service! Cosy restaurant!
P. S.
I had a great meal here. Excellently cooked and well presented. One of my friends likewise, the third less so, however staff were swift to remedy the matter. The steak choices are superb including the seldom seen veal t-bone. If you can't find your steak in here, forget it!! And as for the onion rings... oh joy, oh rapture. Don't forget to order them, you'll love them. It's not inexpensive but it's good value. Willing, helpful staff: very attentive in that American kind of way. Yes, I'll be back!!
J. D.
Booked here 5 times in the past 2 years. Never had a bad meal. Charcuterie board starter is probably the best starter in the city. Impeccable steak too. Very well cooked. Cocktails are maybe a tad pricey but also very nice. Cant recommend it enough
t.
staff are excellent, decor is relaxed and the food is amazing. up there with the best steaks in glasgow for sure. two for tuesday deal is worth visiting for
C. B.
Great visit for lunch today. Took advantage of the three course lunch menu which is decent value. Offers a great range of steak on the a la carte menu including tomahawk, cote de beouf and chateaubriand. The menu is accompanied by a good cocktail and wine list.
m. m.
This has to be the best meal I have ever had. Just amazing! The starters were so tasty but the winning part of the meal was the Tomohawk steak - wow! Cooked to perfection. Nothing will ever compare to that steak. Yum. Lovely, attentive staff. Very busy place, booking is a must I would say. We went on a Saturday night at around 9pm it looked fully booked. 100% recommend.
J. B.
Very nicely situated opersite the Kelvin Grove museum, very meaty menu (veggies don't bother, there's plenty of nice restaurants in the area that will suit your needs far better) so carnivores go for it, the philly cheesecake pancake rolls are a nice inspired twist on a spring roll, if you can't find a piece of yummy meat you like here you're too fussy. It's a little expensive but on par with the area and they do their best to make sure you have a nice meal.
D. M. R.
The food is amazing! We r a steak loving family but for me it's hard to get 1 that tastes good as I only eat my meat well done, really well done so it's normally tough and chewy or it's not well done. Not anymore, The Butchershop is outstanding!! My steak was not only cooked properly but also tasted fantastic, it was easy to cut and melted in my mouth. Finally found my new favourite restaurant and I'm so looking forward to going back.
B. F.
The service was very quick and all the servers were very attentive. Really great food
The burger was delicious and so much more filling than I anticipated so ended up getting my dessert to take away. Overall lovely staff, atmosphere and fantastic food would definitely go again
L. G.
We had a small issue with sinuet in our steak which is no fault of the restaurant, this was swiftly rectfied by manager Andrew. Will definitely give them another go, Jen provided great service throughout. Shame as I have been a good few times before. Good afternoon anyways. Thanks guys.
K.
This was our first visit to The Butchershop. The staff were very friendly. Our waiter Alex was very attentive and helpful. He even brought out the cuts of meat and explained the differences in them etc etc.
Our steaks were cooked exactly to order and tasted superb. Although we didn't try the starters, we tried the desserts and these were also very tasty.
The restaurant itself is very cosy inside and in a great location in Glasgows West End.
We will definitely be back.
L. V.
Better to try these👇🏻when you order a steak
Tops: Garlic Prawns / Marrow
Sauce: Garlic mixed herb butter
R. D.
Fantastic atmosphere and staff. Not to mention the food is out of this world. We had the Sunday roast, highly recommend.
Our server Laura was suberp. Great knowledge and we could hear her patience and passion with other customers too. She took the time to help choose the right wine for people and explain the different cuts on the menu. Even bring out a huge board of raw cuts to demonstrate!
This place is a must for any meat lovers in Glasgow.
E. M.
Fantastic. Service and standard of food is on another level. Alex was brilliant and very attentive to topping up glasses and any issues he was more than happy to help. Will be back!
B. M.
Fantastic place. Service was very quick and concise, food arrived in good time and very tasty. Lots of minor details keeping it from being top-tier, but it's definitely on it's way to being great. Starter was definitely a highlight, but was disappointed by the main as had the same attention been paid to it as the starter, it could've been much better. Would recommend though, as the meats were chosen, cut, and cooked to perfection. Recommended!
K. C.
Myself, partner and daughter went here for the first time and wow what a place we had lovely cocktails, bottle of wine,we got a tomahawk steak and this was unreal!!!!staff were lovely,we sat outside it was lovely day 😀please try if u haven't already
L. A. P. S.
We loved every bite, sip, taste, moment!
Wow!!!
M. S.
Really good steak and the service was excellent too. I was told it was a great place and I wasn't disappointed. Would recommend and will go back.
K. J. M.
we were here today for lunch. what an absolutely fabulous restaurant. the food is out of this world, steaks in many forms cooked to melt in the mouth perfection. sides and starters were to die for also. the staff were fantastic, so attentive and accommodating even though they were very busy, and they were very quick to tend to every diner in the building with charm and outstanding professionalism. the menu isnt cheap but the portion size and quality of the food served is absolutely worth the price tag for a special occasion. cannot recommed butcher shop enough. world class. will 100% be back at our first convenience. shame you cant give more than 5 stars as this place deserves it.
R. M.
Had the roast for 2 and it was absolutely amazing, staff were brilliant
T. S.
First class service and food. One of the best steak houses around.
J. M. V. R.
the best beef I have ever had, excellent dessert and magnificent whisky. Very professional and attentive staff. I recommend it to those who visit Glasgow
D. B.
If you like your steak then your in for a treat! Staff were lovely from the moment we walked in the door professional, knowledgable, friendly and attentive, impeccable service. That aside the main point, the food! It’s obvious they cut no corners. From the starters that were perfectly portioned for what was to come. Every steak my party ordered was done to perfection but not just that it was the quality of the meat. Would love to know where they get that from. Sides were delicious and complemented the meat perfectly. Dessert, if you have room, was lovely crème brûlée was just right as a finale.
If your thinking about eating here do yourself a favour and do it. Wouldn’t have a steak in Glasgow elsewhere.
A. B.
Very tasty lunch. Olives and padron peppers were a perfect appetitiser, meat balls in tomatoes sauce on toasted baguette was a great starter and the steak and chips was delicious.
T. M.
Short notice visit, hadn't booked. They were busy but have 4 tables to cater for people who turn up without booking. Was well looked after, staff friendly & chatty. Made to feel very welcome. Food was excellent. Would definitely recommend a visit if going to Glasgow.
P. A.
This place really does steak well. We had great service from Roch who really knows his stuff and made us feel very welcome. Tuesday night burger vs steak is a great deal too. The chef's nailed our 2 steaks perfectly, even the subtle difference between 1 medium and 1 medium-rare steak. We'll definitely be back!
R. K. d. O.
Coming from the U.S., I've had many a steak dinner and The Butchershop puts a lot of 'fancy' steakhouses to shame. The service is fantastic and the steaks are divine. They have a fully labelled gluten free menu and staff are knowledgeable about food prep. It is worth every penny to treat yourself to a night of fine wine and dining at this Finnieston gem!
R. S.
Love this place. Second time being here the food is amazing the cocktails are brilliant and the staff are very friendly and polite. Only down side is the restaurant is very warm. To the point we considered not getting a pudding just to get some cold air. Will be back.
R. B.
Expensive and you'll probably need a booking but the food is fantastic. Highly recommend either for steak dinner or for Sunday roast
R. A.
Lovely meal to celebrate my retirement. Tomahawk steak, between 2 (1.2 kg) was to die for.
C. L.
Medium well steak I would probably leave my girl for. Fries were also so good it was probably illegal.
R. Z.
Delicious food, lovely staff and comfortable surroundings (even on a very hot day it wasn't too stuffy). My biggest gripe is just how expensive it is, impossible to think of going here except for the most special occasions. The pudding's were a little disappointing but tbh we were absolutely full with delicious steak and sides by that point anyway we wouldn't mind just skipping pudding next time. A red meat-eaters dream.
J. S.
Fantastic steaks. Well aged and tasty. Reasonably priced wine list. Lovely dining room. Need to book well in advance. After dinner try Dukes Bar around the corner for a cocktail.
m. c.
Superb...... again the food and the staff are first class
T. H. J.
Very nice interiors, good meat and wine, lots of people on a Thursday evening. I will give 3,5 stars
K. L.
Starterd were delicious. Asked for a medium steak for the main but was more rare than medium. Did not enjoy the seating because the people next to us were arguing and the other one was drunk. Other than that, staffs were very lovely. Cocktails are very nice too.
R. J.
A absolute smashing place to eat. While visiting glasgow, I came across this place near the nearby museum. The food and service has been nothing short of exemplary. We where greeted by warm and knowledgeable staff who cared to my partners needs. This is a steak speciality bar and grill. But my partner doesn't consume beef, so they made her a tasty chicken dish. The drinks and food where fantastic. The steak I had was corn fed and very juicy and high quality. I highly recommend tbh is place. A superb place to eat! 😄👍🏼🔥
M. G.
The beans were rather undercooked, the steak was flawless, and so was the mac and cheese. The wine that comes with the deal is great and there is, in my opinion, no real reason to upgrade to one of their fancier wines. The staff is friendly and professional, the restaurant itself is seriously cramped (probably because it was Tuesday evening at a time that everybody comes for dinner). However, this does not take away from the high standard of food that is delivered.
S.
Good food, better service. The kitchen was understaffed causing our deserts to be late. The waiter kept us informed of the situation, apologised, gave us complimentary wine and did not charge us for the deserts. Very impressed, will be returning.
M. T.
The lunch menu was great. Very delicious fish, salad and desert. It did take a very long time to order and eat here however, so might not have been the best option while attending a conference.
M. M.
We love this place. This was our first post covid night out. Good spacing between tables. All good on that side. But most importantly the food and wine was absolutely fabulous. We will be back. Gr8 job.
C. B.
We visited with our dogs, and had to use the outside space which was in view of Kelvingrove Museum. Really friendly staff and a great menu. Looking forward to going back.
B. S.
Absolutely my best recommendation for a steakhouse in Glasgow.
A little bit out of the main city centre, this place is really worth a small taxi ride. The service and food is absolutely to die for with the best cooked steak I have ever eaten
(T-Bone @ £32 each but worth every penny).
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Simply superb!
S. M.
A fantastic steak restaurant with extremely attentive staff and fantastic food. The restaurant is located just on the edge of Kelvingrove park, near to the art galleries. It always seems busy and booking is recommended. They have a very comprehensive meat menu which is on the expensive side. There's also various set menus and promotions, dependant on when you visit. The restaurant was clean and the service was great. You won't get a better steak in Glasgow.
S. O.
The food and especially steak was delicious
a.
I've eaten in this place a fair few times now and always exceptional, today it was tbe Sunday dinner menu we had , everything from the soup starter , main sirloin dinner and dessert was done beautifully and after a few accompanying drinks we left happy as always , service always on par with the best , 5 star hardly gives it credit , well done !
K. R.
Arrived for lunch. No waiting. Pleasant staff greeted us. Opted for ala cart menu. Wonderful presentation. Delicious steak. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Superb atmosphere inside. Just right level of background music.
M. B.
Went for the Tuesday deal and burgers are fantastic, some of the best I've had. Steak is good too, pretty small but great for the price. Lovely atmosphere too, perfect for a date.
D. D. P.
Excellent service, outstanding steaks and the oysters were fabulous. We did not have a reservation yet they worked us in very kind and now they have new clients. Looking forward to going back.
Y. G.
Great venue, service and food
J. H.
Disappointing. First go - medium rare steak almost well done. Couldn’t be bothered to send back a second time but one of the more grisly Sirloins I’ve had. Definitely not worth £29. On the plus side the staff were lovely.
C. S.
Had a fabulous time, staff were very attentive and the meal was delicious, perfectly cooked.
B. S.
So much red meat! This was a Christmas dinner treat from the parents. We had a large porterhouse to share and many sides. My husband says the Mac and cheese was his favorite he has had in Scotland so far.
The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They explained different cuts of meat and were very attentive throughout dinner.
The dinner was exceptional and we had a great time. Reservations are required (maybe if there are only 2 of you, you can get lucky).
D. B.
Incredible food, had the 1.5kg porterhouse which was simply amazing. Highly recommend.
J. S.
Vegetarians look away now.
This place serves one of the best steaks in Glasgow. They have a variety of cuts and just the right amount of sides and sauces (there's only 3) so as to really shine through their 45 day aged steak.
The place itself is really nice too. It's dark and cosy with an element of class to the whole feel. Old leather, ornate designs, mirrors and ormaments you'd find in the Great Gastby you feel in a totally different world.
The service is impeccable. Not just the normal friendly smile but genuinely feels like you're the only customers in the place. They aim for a high caliber and they over achieved. Another astounded customer who will be back!
W. L.
Great atmosphere and delicious food.
Very helpful with changing my booking when my train was cancelled.
Highly recommend
B. T.
We spent a few nights up the west end of Glasgow for our anniversary and spent our first night there at the butcher shop. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. Everyone has to try the onion rings they are big & delicious and we got a free glass of prosseco for our anniversary, thanks to the barman Fraser who made us fell welcome. We would definitely go back.
N. R.
Fantastic service and food, advice on the various steaks and best ways to cook them. Looking forward to my next visit.
J. L. (.
Excellent!! Food was delicious and good service. It's not cheap but it worth it. Will definitely come bk at some point.
J. C.
Steak are amazling good... melt in your mouth and cooked to perfection!!
Loved it :))
E. M.
Fantastic as usual this is our third year here for new years day . Brilliant friendly staff great food
G. G.
Great service - staff ultra friendly and knowledgeable about wine and food menus
Extremely accommodating - My other half is gluten and dairy intolerant and they went through the entire menu with her
Tucked away in finniston but possibly one of the best dinners out I've had in Glasgow. Highly recommend!
S. P.
We arrived without a reservation and thought we'd be turned away as they were quite busy. Not only were we accepted with open arms, the food was second to none and the service was unmatched anywhere else. Prices are a little high, but are totally worth every penny. We opted for the pre theatre menu which was quite reasonably priced. The steak was so tender and cooked to perfection with lots of flavour and the salmon with radish and avocado entre was just amazing. The deserts absolutely delish! The staff all kept an eye on us without being intrusive. By far the best experience we have had in Glasgow, if I could give more stars I would.
o. o.
Great atmosphere, excellent dishes, one of the deserts was not what we expected, but overall, definitely recommend !
B. G.
This was one of our favourite places for food unfortunately the past two visits haven't been as good as before.
E.
Best tomahawk steak for a birthday celebration food was delicious but poor desert menu.
J.
What a fantastic place a steak lovers paradise but other dishes on offer. Good selection of beers cocktails. Cosy atmosphere with the view across the park of the university to die for.
A. D. D.
Would I Recommend - ✔ YES
Would I Return - ✔ YES
I was quite surprised to find this restaurant full on a Saturday at 3pm. I didn't have any reservations but I was quite fortunate to nab a table close to the entrance.
🍽🍷Food:
🔹️The Black Pudding Scotch Egg - Not your average #ScotchEgg ...and simply delicious! The batter was crisp on the outside and the pudding encasing the egg really gave it a different dimension. Served on a small pond of savoury potato and truffle puree..it was more of a liquid gravy consistency...but oh so yum👌🏻.
Kale crisps added some additional crunch and texture.
My only complaint is that the yolks could have been slightly more runny but the flavour was well executed and there were many textures that kept it interesting.
🔹️The Sirlon and Mash Potatoes - Very tender buttery meat cooked as I requested (Medium Rare) topped with a choice of sauces. I kept it simple with some herbed butter.
Overall not a bad #steak and I liked that it was #grassfed and #local (Scottish meat).
👩🏻👨Service:
👉🏻Service was prompt, friendly, but not intrusive. Even though I didn't book a table, the place was full and customers kept coming in...at no time did I feel rushed or pushed to finish up quickly to make room for others. That's something to appreciate.
A #mustvisit spot when in #glasgow.
P. H.
Great night out , fantastic service by Josh on his first night on the floor .
Well done young man . Great service and very pleasant
I. W.
I took my friend here for the 1st time. Shd was really impressed. I have been here a few times & really enjoy the atmosphere. I will be back. Thank you.

One of THE best dining experiences of my life. From the girl who booked us and Andy who greeted us to the exquisite food, the excellent and professional staff and the relaxed and tasteful surroundings. Out of this world! Definitely going back.
.......SOON!
K.
Love it but love it's sister restaurant Spanish Butcher more. More choices, beautiful restaurant and just a bit different.
S. L.
Fabulous starter, amazing steak.....delicious cocktails!
Would definitely recommend this dining experience!
A. M.
Great service and quality food. Looking forward to returning with a nice wine or glass of chilled beer to compliment the food when restrictions are lifted.
M. ,. T. F.
Had a great meal here today. Our server took good care of us. Will return . Grandkids tried various cocktails, they were also good.
C. M.
Food - excellent. Service - excellent. However only three stars awarded because we were crammed into a seat next to two other couples, with scant elbow room, when there were plenty of seats with lots of space elsewhere in the restaurant. I understand the psychology of having everyone sit at the window but it ruined our experience. Maybe it's just me, but when I'm spending over a hundred quid on lunch I don't want to be bumping into fellow diners. Maybe I'm just an old fuddy-duddy, maybe this is the modern way, but if it is then you're welcome to it. Disappointed.
S. L.
Amazing food and amazing service
C. C.
Delighted to return to this superb eatery. Personable, enthusiastic team. Brilliant quality. Lovely venue. Will be back again….. & again !
I. K.
Food is excellent, service exceptional. It is a real shame we were in a hurry and could not enjoy the lunch slowly, properly. I would be going back to this place. Highly recommended!
P. H.
Absolutely amazing, unbelievable value for money, standards are so high, can't remember ever having a better steak anywhere,
A. D.
Amazing food and great service.
R. H.
Fantastic service and food. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly. Strongly recommended. One of the top five steaks I've ever had in my life.
P. H.
Great steak restaurant with warm, friendly service. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the wine list was good as well. Fairly expensive, but worth it.
P. C.
If you like great service, great drinks and most importantly fantastic food - then make sure you visit!
Perfectly cooked steaks (fillet and rump / rare and well done) plus top quantity starters, sides and desserts
Will def return
T. M.
Food was great. Place was very busy. Service wasn't very friendly. It felt like it was a bit too hard work for them. Would i rush back? No. Other places serve same food and welcome is genuine.
E. R.
Steak was excellent, nice place to eat, staff were friendly and attentive to customer needs.
Definately Will be back.
S. A.
This is a nice looking restaurant and the staff attentive. But I have got to say that it is just a steak house, and my steak was a bit tough and for £30 for a rib eye it should be perfect cut of meat. The onion rings are to dye for.
K. B.
Second time at this restaurant and didn't disappoint. Always has great service and food is amazing soecialy the tomahawk
M. R.
All the food was extremely nice especially the steak and chips. Would highly recommend.
I. L.
Great place delicious food
H. C.
A great place for a steak. Very attentive staff. Prices reasonable. Busy. Booking recommended but we didn't and we were made very welcome in the bar area.
Y. K.
What a find! This place is amazing! Just can't praise it enough. We were coming up from London to celebrate our 30th wedd ann with family and friends and wanted somewhere local to Parkgrove Terrace. The staff were brilliant - so warm & friendly, helpful, professional, intuitive - put my mind at ease immediately when making reservation (as I had some VIP's). Food was exceptional! Every single one of my guests complimented the food and Andy the waiter. We were absolutely delighted. Thank you to you all at The Butchershop! What a wonderful experience for us all and a treasured memory to have of our special occasion.
M. C.
I think I love everything about this restaurant. The steaks are always cooked to perfection and the sides are perfect accompaniments. Extensive wine menu to compliment your steak of choice, with lovely staff who are not overly fussy and in your face.
D. F.
Excellent food and top steaks. Really nice place for an evening out, especially good for small groups. Great wine menu too
A. R.
Without a doubt my number one place to eat in Glasgow!
Food is out of this world, great selection of food and really knowledgeable staff!
Deserts are amazing too and a good selection of cocktails, prices are brilliant too!
A. B.
The Butchershop is the best steakhouse in Glasgow. Ideally situated around some good pubs, it is a gem that will never disappoint. I've not found a bad thing on the menu...
Its not cheap. If there was a rating it would be ££££!, however we've been in once during the early evening and found that they do a pre-theatre menu that is fantastic value.
Its a cracking restaurant with fantastic food, great service and a top venue for a guaranteed good feed! - Try out the glazed carrots...
T. N.
The place has a good atmosphere and is a comfortable level of fancy. Excellent food - a bit pricey - but a good steak is worth it! Friendly and attentive staff.
C. G.
Fantastic,sevice and food.

Myself and my partner came here for our anniversary and what an experience! The food was memorable to say the least. I had softshell crab to start, with celeriac and a mustard sauce and my partner had scallops. We were each very impressed with dishes which were overflowing with flavour. Following this, we both had cote de boeuf which had a melt in your mouth texture, with a gorgeous smoky flavour which hung on my lips for the rest of the evening. But equal in terms of importance was the great service we had. Sean was our smiling server and he was more than happy to explain the finer points of 'steak knowledge' to a novice such as myself. Overall, the staff were patient, attentive and helpful. When we went outside and sat on a seat people watching, they even brought us a couple of complimentary flutes of champers! Great service, amazing food and a pleasant setting - it's hard to think of what else a restaurant needs and we will definitely be returning.
S. K.
Excellent service very enjoyable great food will come again
L. M.
Good food always .
L. F.
Very disappointing, starter of scallops four or five small scallops for approx £14. Main course was filled steak medium rare, there was no flavour to it, also under cooked, again £35 approx, with mashed potatoes. For that price you expect a 'wow' experience, this was far far from that.
D. C.
Just had dinner here before a gig at the hydro and cant fault it. Steak was perfectly cooked, sides were really tasty and staff really helpfull and friendly. Will definately be back.
r. a.
Came here for a family birthday and did not disappoint , first of all the server was top notch and explained all the cuts of meat in great detail , and had a good chat with him about the beers , the food was amazing and tried a bit of everything . No very happy
C. W.
Undoubtedly one of the best and most tasty pieces if beef I've tasted for a while - perfectly cooked to my requirements. An interesting visit - maybe just me but I felt the starters were on the expensive side for what they were.
C. L.
My favourite restaurant. Steaks are simply to die for, like cutting a knife through butter.
Staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly.
Whole experience worth every penny.
M. T.
A bit pricy... But awesome quality and these two go hand in hand. Great service. One of my fav eating steak spots in Glasgow
A. B.
Excellent rib eye - cooked to perfection and staff were great too 🥩🔥🍷
G. M.
The best Steakhouse in Glasgow . A delightful place to eat, and the food is of course amazing - the fillet steak in particular is a real treat. The Cosmopolitan is a particular winner on the drinks menu, which is extensive yet unfussy. Treat yourself to something special here.
S. T.
One of my very favourite places to eat in Glasgow. Consistently good food, good service, & interesting drinks menu. Recommend the "as time stands still"! Steak frites offer is incredible value.
F. N.
One of the best meals we have had. Excellent food and excellent service.
A. R.
Amazing service Amazing Food Amazing staff Amazingly clean, in fact this place is bloody Amazingly Great 👍
T. W.
Best T-bone steak I've ever had in my entire life, so great, absolute perfection, I urge you to go in there just to experience it first hand. Best dinner out that I had my entire visit to Scotland, Thank you!
C. P.
Good steaks, good wine. Service is decent most of the time, but is never quite perfect here. Bread is a big let down, might break into 5 stars with good bread!
M. E.
Pleasant staff, location and a great burger but disappointing little starter which made the £17 pre theatre seem expensive. Asked for thick chips but ended up with fries which I'm not too fond of.
K. B.
Fantastic place. Out of my comfort choice i went for a fillet steak for a change. Was delighted with my meal. One of the best steaks I have had in ages.
B.
Went here for brunch after ODP2 and it was the perfect end to a fantastic party weekend! They even let us in early, as some of our group were leaving early in the afternoon to travel home, and were very welcoming when we arrived (especially considering I was then late! Oops!) and served us lots of massive coffees and pints of coke very quickly :)
Most of us chose burgers and a few of us indulged in the Tafelspitz (£35 for 2) and when we discovered you could have mac & cheese as a side there were quite a few orders for those too! Our slab of juicy meat was awesome and we drooled while they sliced and served it at our table. We also treated ourselves to the blue cheese butter which was lovely but could be better if it was more melted when served (some were, some weren't).
The meat was cooked to perfection and the sides (usual roast trimmings including an epic Yorkshire pud) were all amazing and the macaroni was delish! We were too full for puds but I would definitely recommend this place for Sunday brunch/roast! For the other options it was just £13.95 or £17.50 with starters.
S. -.
Very excellent meat and great staff
M.
Two steak dinners and a bottle of wine for 30 quid? No, it's not a mis-steak, it's the deal on a Tuesday at the Butchershop. Hands down, the best steak I have had in Glasgow.
The staff are very accommodating. A friend's steak was a little underdone, so the chef sent a bowl of chips whilst he waited on a fresh steak. And took our olives and bread off the bill.
The deal on a Tuesday is for rump steak, or a burger. I can only imagine how good the sirloin is!
C. M.
Best steak in Glasgow hands down. Fantastic atmosphere and staff were very friendly and welcoming. A little bit pricey, but you absolutely get what you pay for. Would recommend.
G. K.
Fine steaks. Great oysters as appetizers
k. h.
Amazing food and fantastic service .
Ostyers are a must try x
N. S.
This is one of the best steakhouses I've been to in Glasgow. The cuts of meat and the seasoning are just spot on. If you're looking for a great date night, this is the place to go
A. H.
Great dinner (again) from an excellent menu and great wine too! Staff very good and made us feel really special as it was our wedding anniversary.
J. M.
I love this place from start to finish, amazing atmosphere, service, wines and steaks. Being a butcher there genuinely a cut for everyone. I would heartily recommend and I look forward to going again.
D. B.
Overcooked our steak and didn't offer much back, however the food was excellent apart from this.
C. D.
Charcuterie board was good.
Filet was average for a steak specialist, could do chips like that at home and why the hell do you offer ketchup with steak? I watched a diner nearly get kicked out a real steak restaurant because he asked for mustard and you're offering sauce!?
Service was perfect but gonna clean under that coffee machine, it's thick with dust. Alex Polizi would have a field day with that.
D. W.
The two steaks for £30 deal on a Tuesday was excellent. Steak was cooked well, fries were good and the onion rings some of the best I've tasted.
T. T.
Had an amazing tomahawk steak, nice service, lovely atmosphere. Very luxurious experience, but I'd go close to pay day as the a la carte will cost you a pretty penny (totally worth it).
J. B.
We were lucky to get a table due to a cancellation. Pre booking definitely recommended. Staff are well versed on the product the sell and are very helpful. Food is just fantastic
G. N.
Best steak I've had in Glasgow and the black pudding scotch egg was to die for. The staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was buzzing.
A. M.
Food was nice, lots of options. They have a different things to suit different budgets
R. M.
Good quality food, the hake is good and fresh just a bit overpriced. The dessert made with peanut butter ice cream was not for me but I did try the sticky toffee pudding of my friend and it was good.
D. H.
Loved it! Had a porterhouse steak and it was one of the best I've had. Friendly service and plenty of choice for drinks.
J. G.
Avoid if busy. You will be waiting roughly an hour for (cold steak) and will have to chase up your drinks order. The kitchen or waiting staff cant keep up with the number of clients whilst busy
C. W.
Fantastic polite service, incredibly cooked meats, seasoned well. Cannot recommend enough!
L. M.
Best steak house we've been too! Can't wait to return. Good wine selection and very friendly and professional staff
I. B.
Friendly atmosphere, great surroundings and staff. Food was terrific, steak cooked to perfection

Right across the university, very nice place to sit out on the porch and watch people. Staff were very attentive and friendly, enjoyed the fish with Thai curry sauce very much !!!!
J.
The food was excellent. The staff were the friendliest and most helpful that I have encountered in any Glasgow restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
A. M.
Amazing steak! Not sure if the special cuts are worth the money but the regular cuts definitely are! We had the speciality purple broccoli too which was amazing
H. C.
A bit pricy but it is worth the experience! Fantastic steak with thorough explanation (and demonstration !!! )on their cuts of beef. Friendly service, would visit again
D. R.

Very good food, at reasonably prices compared to other restaurants in Glasgow. The site offers a wonderful view of the area, which includes the University of Glasgow and the Kelvingrove museum.
D. K.
Great warmth and courtesy from the staff and class food the meal could not have been better 👌.
R.
Amazing food and lovely staff, especially Hannah. Had a brilliant lunch and will definitely be back in the future
S. O.
Superb food and great choices of steak. Our meal was delicious and the atmosphere and friendly staff added to the whole experience.
D. D.
Steak was perfectly cooked, my partner's fish dish was also very tasty. A little bit pricey but worth it for quality ethical beef.
N. B.
The staff is nice and friendly, they recommend you how to order you steak in case you didn't make the 'right' choice. Besides these the food is excelent.
C. B.
Lovely Sunday roast and a nice atmosphere in the restaurant

Amazing steak house. Excellent service and variety of cuts. A bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. No other compares in the West end
R. P.
Loved it. The Tomahawk steak was incredible.
E. D.
Amazing food, great prices and outstanding customer service, particularly from Andrew the restaurant manager and Olly who served us.
S. E.
Great steaks, other dishes are available. Busy, but good service.
D. D.
Great atmosphere and service, and a superb steak.
I. K.
Without a doubt the best "steak eatery" in Glasgow. Lots of variety, great oysters, and considering the quality of the produce - reasonably priced.
My wife and I had a great night out.
C.
Been to this place twice now and both times it has been unbelievable. Amazing staff, great food and the dessert is the best I've ever had!
S. M.

Excellent food quality 10/10. A bit on the pricier side, so would highly advice you get the Tuesday deal.
R. M.
Good food. Great staff. It's all cool in here.
R. K.
Unbelievable tasty starters and the steak and sides were top notch. Exactly what you want from a high end steakhouse. Expensive, but still good value!
W. N.
Great service, amazing quality of steak and just a generally nice dinner setting.
E. M.
One of the best stakes I have ever had! From start to finish my partner and I loved it. Would put it in the top 5 places I have ever visited!

A. C.
Had a great meal served by fantastic staff
B. S.
Sophisticated menu, tasty selections of top quality beef and accompaniments, quiet relaxing atmosphere, and the friendliest staff imaginable. The best choice in the area.
M. B.
Food was lovely. Staff all looked unhappy but nice enough. Over priced!
J.
Nice romantic meal. Very warm on a summers night made it quiet unbearable to enjoy the meal. But have been before and not had that issue.
m. l.
Steak amazing, Fraser our waiter was so lovely, natural but efficient.. Unfortunately my request for window seat for birthday treat was forgotten and explanation wasn't necessary .
J. S.
If the aim of the game is to enjoy epic steak with equally good service...your in the correct place. If you want quality you pay for it but i hope you enjoy it to the max.
D. B.

Excellent food and good service but the restaurant is very noisy and tables very close together. Definitely better for groups and parties than for couples.
