Reviews of Starting Gate Beefeater
T. F.Very well located....the place is lit up beautifully....Food & drinks are average....avoid the double crunch burger, was dry and overcooked. Our seats were dirty and worn out. Apart from that the staff are very friendly & excellent service. Great place for a quick bite.
J. L.The good thing about Beefeater is that their menu and the food are always the same wherever you go. However... Unfortunately this one was not without its problems. The first evening service was slow. Very slow. One coke, one burger and one coffee took 1 hour 45 minutes. I don't want to blame the staff, who knows if there was a problem or not but that's just a fact. Breakfast the next morning and the coffee machine was broken! I skipped dinner that evening not wanting to chance my arm and went straight to the breakfast the next morning. Yay, the coffee machine was working, but now the toaster was on the fritz! Still, other than all that, it was ok. The waitresses were polite and friendly and I know that stuff breaking down is not their fault but I'm not reviewing them, I'm reviewing my experience and it wasn't one of the better Beefeater experiences I've had.

Shame about the food. The turkey meal: Quite literally was Sandwich lunch box turkey it was rancid. The veg has obviously been boiled then left in the water for hours and the gravy was basically just water. All that was eaten off this plate was a Yorkshire pudding.
The steak Wellington: for starters it wasn't a Wellington it was soggy pastry with a very overcooked bit of steak on top. I ordered a rare steak that came out extremely well done (definitely do not recommend this meal)
Deserts :
Profiteroles (BANGING)
Apple pie: ice cold (the waitress kindly sorted this issue for us) but that shouldn't be a mistake if the desert is meant to come out warm.
We felt so bad mentioning these issues to the waitress but she was brilliant and did her best to accommodate us in every way she could.
Overall the food was horrendous and even after having some money taken off the bill I still begrudged paying a penny for it as we basically sent our meals back (the rest of our group just ate it cause they were hungry)
The waitress was amazing but her manager seemed to give her a hard time when she raised this issue with her.
With the festive season just about to kick off meals like that could really break what used to be an amazing little restaurant.
J. G.On arrival we had to go and find someone to seat us . Waitress was quite miffed we had interrupted her conversation.We had never been before but no one explained where everything was , so we had to find out for ourselves.
Continental selection was fine .
Hot food wasn’t too good . No sausages , fried eggs were dried and shrivelled up . Barely anything except tomatoes . So we had to ask for more hot food .
It’s a shame as this was a treat for us as we were on our way to our holiday .
My advise would be if your going for breakfast go before 9am.

Karen is the most amazing woman she's always making our mornings good when we come for breakfast.... nice food can't go wrong and even better that kids under 16 eats breakfast for free with my son don't eat much so I not to bothered about wasting money... keep up with the good work guys .
