P. B.A fabulous old school dining experience which you just don't find in Hull these days. A really warm welcome, we were seated in the comfortable bar area for drinks whilst we perused the menu, we gave our order and then after a short period of time we were shown to our table.
My two sons had sirloin steak each that were cooked to perfection, I had a fantastic porterhouse steak that was packed full of flavour and my parents both had sea bass. The vegetables do not come with the meal, but this means you can choose what you want, and with the meal being silver served, you decide on your portions.
Our table ordered three desserts as two of our party were full. A rather nice end to a great meal.
I used the gents bathroom as I believe if a restaurants toilets are clean, everywhere else will be clean and my theory holds true. The toilets were clean, hygienic and smelled fresh. There was a plentiful stock of hand soap and hand towels.
This little restaurant is a gem of a find, and it can be quite easily overlooked when walking down Whitefriargate. This restaurant has been going for a good 60 years and so I would hope people go and support this local business so they can look forward to another 60 years in Hull

This place is all about the amazing food & service you receive, the best steaks in town and cooked to perfection. The staff are attentive and friendly, Niki and her sister (I’m sorry I can’t remember your name 🙄) are fantastic host & chef, polite, efficient and always on hand to refill a glass.

We visited last weekend and was so glad we did, we had mushroom starters all I can say is yummy yummy yummy, followed by melt in your mouth steaks, very friendly staff and family run. We will certainly be returning, thanks for a great evening.
m.Friendly Greek-Cypriot owners, but the whole experience was a bit weird.
We didn't have a reservation, so were seated in the waiting area, but we did already order. Then some time later we were brought to a table, but it was almost empty. The food arrived just a minute later.
The steaks we had looked very much alike, though they were supposed to be different cuts. It was nice and tender, but not nearly steakhouse quality.

L. M.This place is a gem. It has been in Hull for years so can't be doing anything wrong. The food is excellent and for those who complain about having to buy chips and peas separately then please read the menu and don't go. The service is very good and both Nikki and Chelsea are very chatty and make you feel welcome. I will continue to visit this place as I have done for over 30 years.
J. P.A real throwback - and that's part of the charm. The decor and menu are still very 70s/80s, but the food is top quality. I had a wonderful beef stroganof. It's like a trip back to a bygone age. Pleasant and attentive service.
I'm told this place opened in 1964, so is likely the longest running restaurant in Hull. Go for the experience!
M. R.This is our favourite restaurant in Hull, the best steak and chips ever. We have eaten there over the last 20 years and it never disappoints. The owners are amazing and always very welcoming. look out for it down Whitefriargate Hull, a hidden gem above the shops.
S. R.Old fashioned but exceedingly well done food. If modern is your thing then I wouldn't bother, but if good quality well prepared food is what you want (and you don't mind a bit of late 60- mid 70's style) then it is well worth a look.
