R. S.We visited La Cueva after hearing from quite a few locals that we needed to try it. We walked into a beautiful restaurant with a great ambiance. The waitstaff was friendly and quick to help us decide what to order. We shared the goat cheese salad appetizer and I had the burger. Both were not only presented beautifully but tasted amazing. I indulged in a cocktail from the bar, and we watched all night as the bartender made the coolest drinks. They have an extensive cocktail menu and lots of wine options. We then had dessert, where I learned they are all made in house and was very fresh. This is definitely a place we will come back to. The staff made our experience enjoyable and it was such a beautiful restaurant!

They are currently doing a very reasonable set lunch and you can often get 2 for one cocktails during the day

M. F.We prebooked a table for 2 people for a Saturday night. The place was busy.
First impressions is that the decor is beautiful and very insta worthy. There was a DJ playing light music in the background.
The menu has plenty of choice for everyone. I opted for the pulled beef croquettes and my friend ordered the ham terrine for starters.
Both dishes were beautifully presented and they tasted great. Plenty of beef in the croquettes and with a decent side salad and a delicious dip. The ham terrine was also good.
For main we both opted for the pork belly and loin dish. Again this arrived beautifully presented and it packed flavour. The loin of pork was perfectly cooked.. slightly pink and moist. The belly was soft and all the fat had been rendered away, again perfectly cooked. The side of potato was good. There were small pieces of puffed crackling on the plate but I think in order to make the dish top, top marks a bit of proper twisted crackling would make it amazing... who doesn't like crispy salted crackling.
For dessert I had the chocolate brownie which came as a huge portion and again was very good. My friend had the lemon cheesecake which she said was sharp with lemon and again very good.
Washed down with a bottle of chilled prosecco... very nice.
All of our plates were left entirely cleared. I must say the cutlery and plates are also very nice.
I thought it might have all been style over substance but I was wrong. The chef obviously knows what they're doing and we both thoroughly enjoyed our food.
A 12% service charge is added to the bill but on presenting the bill this was highlighted to us and we were advised we didn't have to pay it if we didn't want to. We paid it as the food and service were both excellent.
Great service and a little bit of humour to go with it...beautiful surroundings and perfect food...I most certainly recommend a visit here and will be going back myself for sure.

D. D.My wife and I were told this is the new hot spot in town and the perfect place to spend our 8 year anniversary and went for it. I can assure you La Cueva did not disappoint. Upon entering we were greeted by the warm and friendly staff and seated at our amazing table. The art, tree's and overall ambiance was exactly what we were seeking for our special occasion. The cocktail menu is out of this world. Our drinks were works of art and went down easy relaxing to the live entertainment provided by an amazing jazz singing performance. Then came the food and like everything else was cooked perfect and spot on. We even ordered another dessert cocktail just to continue to enjoy the lovely experience. If you are searching for a special night out this is your place. Can't wait to get back to try the other craft cocktails and amazing menu items.
K. P.Such a gorgeous restaurant with amazing decor and atmosphere. I was torn between “hacking” the menu and going for a selection of starters and small-plates but opted for the juicy burger as a main which wasn’t disappointing. I also had that arancini I feel was the nicest outside of a small random takeaway in Northern Sicily that I’ve ever had.
The super friendly managers and staff were really open to honest feedback and really passionate about their service and some food optimisations they want to introduce as they learn what works. The vision for what La Cueva can achieve (evening music, jazz Sundays, etc) in the coming months is also compelling . It’s a new place and still on a learning curve but I feel optimistic that I would be able to push up to five stars next time I visit.
M. S.First time visit to La Cueva on Saturday night and it was absolutely fantastic! The ambience was superb with wonderful decor, perfect lighting and an acoustic guitar vocalist. Service was impeccable from start to finish from Shaun who was looking after us and Head Chef James, both of whom are great characters and instantly built up a great rapport, engaging with us throughout. As a party of four we were seated in a comfortable spacious booth and started the evening with four cocktails which were quality. The food was absolutely first class with the mains of Pork, Fillet Steaks and Mushroom Risotto that followed starters of Fish Platter, Scallops and Prawns. We shared two desserts amongst the four of us as we were pretty full and had Sticky Toffee Punning and Tiramisu. Plenty of home-made Sourdough bread was offered throughout and the wine was excellent and reasonably priced. We will 100% be returning soon as this is the best restaurant in Ipswich by a mile - would highly recommend.

Food was great. The ambiance was perfect with a singer bringing appropriate mood to the evening. We tucked into a delicious vegan meal (vegan options suited us but were quite limited) and had two drinks each. It was good value for money. I'm really pleased to have tried this restaurant and will be back as the vegan menu option extends.
A. H.Me and my girlfriend recently came in for dinner and we were blown away by how beautiful the restaurant was! We had Samantha as our server and she gave us some awesome recommendations and we loved everything we got. The beef croquettes and scallops were delicious! We finished the night with the brownie which was one of the best, we’ve ever had!
Ipswich has been needing a fun place like this with live music! We definitely will be back!

y. h.We dined tonight as a party of 8 at a table booked for 8pm. The restaurant was busy but it took a good 30 minutes before our first round of drinks was served at it was 9:15 before our main meals arrived. One of our party was served belly pork which was 90% fat and 10% meat so she sent it back to the kitchen. By the time her replacement meal was served, the rest of the party had finished their main course. Our server advised us that the cost of this meal would be taken off the bill. The Manager then came and agreed that everyone in the party could have a complimentary dessert.
It was 10:15 before our desserts were served.
When we asked for our bill, none of the desserts nor the main pork dish had been taken off the bill and the server questioned whether we had been told that these would be complimentary. In the end these were taken off the bill.
It was a real shame, the food was amazing but the service was slow, most of the waiting staff were disinterested and certainly not attentive, we had to call them over everytime we wanted to order both for food and drinks.
The restaurant was very busy but in my opinion, if you take reservations you know what you have coming in and therefore should staff appropriately. Based on the poor service, I’m not sure I’d dine here again at the weekend.
N. B.We visited again last night to celebrate a birthday, and as usual, Louis and his staff treated us to exemplary service. La Cueva has become a favourite for us due to the ambience, live music, beautiful decoration and delicious food. We have had a 5* experience on every occasion but Steve’s birthday dessert and sparkler last night were the icing on the cake! We highly recommend La Cueva and are already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you, you deserve to do well.

M. W.What a great place to eat. One of my few visits to Ipswich but I was invited to a family birthday. From the start we were all made to feel welcome from the excellent team at the restaurant, who went out of there way to ensure the birthday boy had a great time. Food is freshly made and very tasty. All round a fab day.

J. L.Myself and work colleagues ( a table of 11) went to La Cueva on Friday evening for a meal and cocktails. Our waitress Samantha was fantastic, nothing was too much to ask for even though she was covering a large table and a brilliant sense of humour. Refreshing to see and made us feel very welcome. Food was great and empty plates all round. The mojitos hit the spot too!!
As per previous reviews they do add a service charge but also highlight it to you should you not want to pay it but we were more than happy to pay for such a good evening and service.

S. H.First impressions are very good, decor looks amazing, choice of starters looks really exciting and then it goes downhill from there. Main courses were uninspiring, starters tasted nice but very small for the price, main courses were bland and lacking imagination, if only they had spent as much time on the food as they had the decor. Not the best way to spend a birthday evening.

T. B.We found this restaurant by chance! From the outside in daylight hours we thought it was just a cocktail bar...but once inside we were amazed at how pretty the restaurant was. Music playing and friendly staff, beautiful furnished and decor gave a real up market feel to the place. Our cocktails turned into a 3 course meal from the wonderful menu and we've already been back to try the tapas...just fantastic!
