Reviews of The Botanist Bar & Restaurant Ipswich
P. S.
Met some friends here for a few drinks so I am only rating the bar, but the food that we did see looked very tasty. I look forward to trying soon. Staff were very friendly and seemed very professional and competent having just completed …

We went along as we had heard they were inclusive of vegans here, and we were happy that they were! We had some lovely food, the staff were happy to help and seemed cheerful.
It's not exactly cheap mind, however, we are in a cost of living crisis and everything has risen in price.
The conversion of what was a bank into this is fab, it looks welcoming and cool inside, it is huge and spacious.
We very much enjoyed it and will return 😀

Another amazing addition to Ipswich town centre. Had a great lunch, had been to a Botanist before so went straight for the hanging kebabs again! Great cocktails too and all the staff seemed friendly and helpful. The venue has been decorated/organised well, it's good to see our historic buildings being put to new use. Will definitely be back!

The Botanist Ipswich Is a very welcome and needed addition to the town. This dog friendly establishment is located in the heart of the town next to the town hall and opposite Lloyd's bank, it has injected new life, flavour and fun to Ipswich.
The food is divine, there are many vegan, gluten free options and the fact that the cocktails can be made non alcoholic and still taste delightful is a testament to the care and attention to detail that is staff strive for. The chefs are doing amazing things in that kitchen ensuring that the food is always on point. It's hard to pick a favourite but the Humus is up there along with the vegan burger which is so succulent and flavourful that I actually prefer it over the cheeseburger. Usually I hate chicken burgers so never order them but the chicken burgers coming out of that kitchen are so juicy and very filling. When it come to deserts the frangipane is something I dream about regularly since having it. Wash it all down with a Jasmine and elderflower mojito or two and you've got yourself a very delicious satisfying meal.
There is so much on the menu that I like and the kids menu is good too. I love the kids dessert because it's so playful and the protions are good the children can leave full instead of asking for more food as soon as we leave.
In the evenings there's live music which changes the atmosphere and has people dancing and singing along.

Booked for 4:30pm mid-week. Restaurant was almost empty when we arrived and the service was a little slow considering this. The waiting team swapped over at some point during our time which isn't an issue in itself, however, the 1st one never said a thing and she only took our order. The 2nd was more helpful, friendly and checked in on how food was going but the way they do service charge tips would mean the 1st got the tip, so I chose not to pay it for this reason as seemed very unfair I couldn't choose.
30 mins before the end of my booking I was told they're rushing our deserts to get us out in time for the next booking for our table even though we was surrounded by empty tables so I don't really understand why they did that, it felt really rude.
Food and drinks were absolutely amazing though, I really enjoyed everything I ordered! Kids menu was also good and very reasonable priced! I would definitely go again!!

Visited today with some friends for Brunch. The waitress was lovely, couldn’t be more helpful in advising on the menu. The food was delicious, couldn’t fault the food itself as it was very good.
What I would say however and this is is not a reflection on the waitress or the food, but the service in general, is that it took 55 minutes for us to receive the food. By which point we were pretty hungry, thankfully with good company we were in good spirits so didn’t want to make a fuss when the food did arrive. Three or four young waiters came out to deliver the food and all apologised for the delay, we were just keen to tuck in!
Once finished though they then charged a 10% service fee, which I’m generally not keen on if I haven’t been informed prior to dining. Thankfully our waitress took this off, but it might have been nice if they considered taking it off before giving the bill or thinking about taking some drinks off as a good will gesture?
Otherwise my only other issue is that the stairs down to the toilets are uneven, somewhere near the bottom there is a step that seems to catch a lot of others out. On returning from the toilets I fell up the stairs unaware that the step was taller and catching my foot going up. No injuries but I’m sure it could catch someone else out.
Not totally put off by it, and we would happily go again for the delicious food, but I think we will avoid the brunch until they can sort their booking system.

One of the few places worth visiting in ipswich. Local government should take serieus actions to give this place a boost. However this is a nice (and big) place to eat something. Nicely decorated too. Great food at decent prices and friendly people. If you visit, go to the toilet. Takes you ages before you get there. (But they are the cleanest and most beautiful one I saw in years.). First time I took pictures from a toilet.

First time. We both had hanging kebabs which were nice but not best chips. Would have preferred a rice option. Gluten free and dairy free required and we could both eat including desserts which is a bonus

A good quality restaurant. The good, food was lovely, staff very friendly and interior is great. The poor, given a list (verbally) of items not available, a few. Then we ordered and then one these items was not available. Now not great but what we had and the service made up for this. Definitely worth a visit.
