Service was slow 45mins before starters had arrived to table. The restaurant wasn't very busy to warrant the slow service. The meals were inconsistent ordered the buttermilk chicken burger was over cooked and burnt on the edges. The potatoes on the Sunday roast were harder than they should be. The cheese cake was two different sizes of portions when it arrived at the table. Unfortunately wasn't value for money and wouldn't return in a hurry.

Nice place for a Sunday meal with the family. Good location next to the river with parking at the back. Staff are pleasant and work hard. Cheery bunch. I really liked the big booths which are semi-circular. These booths are great for a family huddle, and meant my relatives with poor hearing could understand me for once. Very comfy and well designed. Great place for a bite to eat, not greatly expensive but worth every penny for the quality of food put out! The blaggis bon-bons are highly recommend as a starter. Staff are great, friendly and approachable folks. No weird request is too much, very happy to help. Very open and clean decor with views right onto the esk, sitting in the main room a feature is made of a giant bookcase and open beams right to the ceiling giving the papermill a light and airy feeling. I'd be happy just to chill here with a book and some more of the lovely latte. In total less than 50 squid for a very pleasant afternoon of two starters, a main and a pudding - plus drinks. Great value in these hard times. Th is is also a dig friendly place where pooches of all sizes can be accommodated and loved on by everyone! Thanks for lovely food and a great atmosphere!

Went for Christmas lunch we had a puppy with us so had to eat in the bar well I would never have known. The bar area is gorgeous with a lovely fire. The staff were absolutely brilliant the food was delicious and the cocktails 😋😋definitely worth 5☆☆☆☆☆will definitely be back. Thank you for a fabulous day😀

Went here for late afternoon lunch. The staff were very welcoming and polite. We hadn't booked a table as we just passing through but this was not a problem and shown straight to a table. There was a very high overall feel of the place and everything was clean neat and tidy as would be expected. It was all very airy well light with a great atmosphere. There was an extensive menu to choose from and my wife and I could have had several items each from the starters and the mains. The food was fantastic, very well made and tasted great. So was the cocktails and mocktails. If we are back in the area again we will definitely be back again.

We had to wait a while for drinks the other night (it was busy) but staff were very welcoming and sang happy birthday when bringing out the birthday cake we brought (they even had their own candles for it!) ! Very relaxed service - no rush which made for a very enjoyable lunch! Charcuterie platter for one was the most generous I have ever had - it was delicious. The other 3 starters were equally enjoyed. The steak ciabattas were really enjoyed as the ciabattas themselves were beautifully light. The sesame beef salad was superb and the Caesar salad was also well presented and flavoursome. Sadly no room left for dessert!

The food menu is a bit limited and not quite as high end as I would expect from such a place, but it's good size helpings and it does taste good. A visit to The Paper Mill in Lasswade for Sunday lunch has been on the cards for a long time. We phoned to book a table on Sunday morning for 2pm and managed to get one which was great. It’s a very nice restaurant, a bit quirky with a large outside area for that day in July when we get the sun! We started with Black Pudding & Chorizo Bon Bon’s followed by Mac & Cheese with Bacon and Steak Frites. This was all washed down with a nice bottle of red. All basic pub restaurant food and very nice.

The Paper Mill - totally unplanned visit here last week and actually the result of just asking Google for somewhere to eat on our route - anyway, what great fortune as the food and service was absolutely superb! The restaurant is set just off the River Esk in Lasswade - it has dedicated car parking and is wheelchair accessible, with double doors to the front and staff that will happily help you if required. We arrived at lunchtime and it was pretty busy - a good sign - but were seated in the front portion of the building. Beautifully appointed and a large bar; many tables and a good sized beer garden. The whole place was immaculately clean and overall I'd say very welcoming. Food was excellent - modern takes on traditional dishes and priced relatively well given the current climate. Main dishes £15-20. Overall just really great - will be back for sure!

One of the best meals in and around Edinburgh this summer. The menu is a good combination of traditional Scottish dishes and some interesting inspiring crossovers from other cuisines. The favourite tonight was the 4 hour slow cooked pork belly. What a delicious and well cooked dish. Can only recommend this place if you are in this region and want something extra.

Ordered the falafel burger and when I first bit into the fries I thought "THIS is what a fry should be like" and, although I didn't think it possible, the burger was even better. Genuinely the best vegetarian burger I have ever eaten. The service was lovely and very efficient with a perfectly appropriate waiting time for the food we ordered, and we sat outside on a sunny day which was absolutely perfect. 11/10, I'm tempted to go back and try more of the delicious menu.

Dropped in as we were passing by. We have seen the paper mill before but had never stopped at it. It always looks busy. Anyway in we went. Nice welcome and it was reasonably busy but as there is a lot of space you don't feel crowded. Nice selection on the menu not to much choice but more than enough. Fish and chips were amazing ( my go to choice ) and my wife had culenskink and she said it was amazing. The staff were friendly and best of all didn't bother us mid bite asking if everything was ok 😂 that's a pet hate of ours. Would recommend and would have no hesitation in popping in again if passing by

Excellent place to have a breakfast, lunch or dinner catch up. We used the private dining area at the back of the restaurant for a birthday dinner. The area has lovely views of the river below. The food was excellent, really delicious and presented beautifully. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They also have some really lovely cocktails which went down well in the bar afterwards. We were lucky enough to land our visit on a live music night (Fridays) where they have a musician or band play.

The seats are terrible to sit on, no padding, low down, stained fabrics and uncomfortable for 1 hour+.
