Reviews of Anand Sweets
A. M.
Having watched Remarkable Places to Eat a few years we really wanted to visit! So a big detour on a long journey found us here!
So glad we came. Amazing samosas and pickles. Brilliant service by Sharon, Parul and team.
Totally worth a half hour detour!
d. g.
Absolutely love it! The prices have increased thought... Would love it if you could bring down the prices and add more variety to menu and introducing cheaper items like vada pav, misal pav, pohe, sabudana khichadi.
U. D.
Yummy, scrummy, delicious and Vegan!
No picture is going to do justice to how delicious the food is from Anand’s. So you’ll just have to accept the opinion of someone who has eaten Indian Food all over the world and in every venue imaginable.
Anand Sweets are great.
We’ve bought lots of different types of food from here. Sweets, savoury, dhals, whatever we have bought has been great.
E. D.
Food was so good, Best samosa chaat I've had and the sweets were tasty. Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend
S. W. (. W.
Very nice place lots of Indian sweets and Chats available. You can enjoy variety of sweets and famous foods here definitely.
J. H.
Went here after seeing it on TV.
Unfortunately people that arrived after us got served first we had to ask to be served.
Starters were nice and tasty, the paneer curry was delicious but one of our curry's was only just warm.
We had some sweets to take away and they were really nice.
Glad we went but not worth 30 mile round trip
C. D.
I've been here quite a few times, both eat in and take out. Each time I have had the most amazing food. Excellent vegetarian choices (including cheese and even okra). I can recommend the daily thali. Otherwise a good choice, and even desert too if you have the room.
R. S.
Very delicious hygienic foods in multiple dishes. Very affable and hospitable staff members to the customers. Customers leave the Anand Sweets very happily and satisfactorily. The store is very neat, clean and tidy. Wish their over all success with the prosperity.
B. K.
The best Indian vegetarian restaurant in Leeds. The taste is pretty homely and the price is way too cheap. Their sweet and confectionery collection is nice as well. The quality is very standard too.
A. A.
Had the somosa Chaat from here. The somosa were vegetarian so no meat, it was spicy. There is some seating available and side street parking. Quick service as the food arrived in 10 minutes. The members of staff were friendly. I would recommend it. They got a range of different food items, sweet and savoury along with a different range of drinks too.
T. A.
This place has the tastiest vegetarian food I have tasted and it's price accordingly as well! It's clean, hygienic, has friendly staff, often get starters from there ie veg samosas and onion bhajis etc great place to eat! Highly recommended!
W. M.
An authentic & unpretentious Indian cafe serving the best samosas, curry dishes & desserts! The masala dosa is one of my favourites! The queue could be long during peak hours so better to go early.
B. P.
Until Nadiya Hussain visited a couple of years ago, this was a treasure that mainly only Asians seemed to know about. Now, it is even more popular with a broader clientele.
It is a simple canteen-style informal place with a vegetarian-only menu and no alcohol. I love meat but the food here is tremendous.
From bhel puri and onion fries to the many curries, the thaali of the day, bhaturas and dosas (only on Fri, Sat and Sun), try something you're not familiar with. It's relatively cheap and very worthwhile.
Service can be slow. When the sisters ran it, it was far quicker. But be patient as it is worth the wait.
K. A.
It was very busy when I went with my friend around 1:30 pm. If you are vegetarian, then this is one of the best places to go in Leeds. They do not sell any non-veg items. The food was good and healthy. I tried Thali and Saag Paneer.
S. S.
Awesome and very good place for snacks and sweets! Pocket friendly outlet with good service. I would highly recommend.
B. G.
Nice food and decor. Paneer parontha was oily, felt as though my arteries were getting clogged up 😂.
Overall nice experience.
G. N.
Highly recommended. These samosas were delicious. They were freshly cooked and the pastry was nice and crispy. Also I managed to pick a large 2 litre bottle of Limca 👌🏼. I can never find these in London.
N. S.
Loved their samosas and sweets. The staff was very knowledgeable about everything. Will definitely return! Thanks Anand Sweets
S. A.
Anand sweet is, no doubt, one of the good desi shops that provide quality food. This place is highly recommended if you are craving for indian street food.
S. F.
50% increase in price of samosas and selling yesterday’s vegetable pakora on a Sunday morning is not a great business model.
Perhaps this place has become complacent and believes it’s own hype?
S. A.
Nice place for Indian sweets, I had only sweets here a couple of times, they have decent taste...
s. j.
The food is decent but the service is super slow. On weekends they should have more staff to manage the crowd.
M. S.
Brilliant vegetarian and vegan food. Very good standard, good prices, clean, and friendly staff. What more do you want?
This place is a gem and is definatley worth the travel across Leeds, even across Yorkshire to get to.
J. S.
We often call in here just for the delicious samosas. They are fantastic.
The curries are tasty too and everything is reasonably priced.
Parking can be difficult in the area so best avoid peak travel times if going by car.
S. K. M.
good vegetarian Indian sweets and currys. plenty of indian sweetboption and good limited curry options. good for breakfast and lunch.
E. W.
We dropped by on our way home and stopped off for some samosas. Never been here before but as it was very busy, we thought it must be good. When we finally got served, we were warned that the samosas are being made and they couldn’t say how long I had to wait. It was a bit disappointing seeing as we didn’t live in Leeds. So we opted for some barfi to take home. I’ve not tried Indian sweets before and these were quite rich. I could only manage a quarter of a piece at a time. The flavours were good though. Hopefully, we’ll be able to try the samosas in the future
H. H. T. F.
Called in whilst working in Leeds. The Samosa’s are amazing and the staff are lovely, so helpful when I clearly had no idea what to order 👍
C. L.
The samosa chaat was amazing! One of the nicest things I've ever eaten. Got a lovely kick of spice and amazing flavours. The samosas are to beautiful too. Great prices so reasonable. Will be making many trips back
M. A.
Best Samosas in Leeds. Great chaat and other veg options. Can’t go wrong with this place. Greta value for money. Also don’t forget to try their chai.
K. J.
The food is always great at Anands. There was an issue with my takeout, when I went back to Anands to check about it, the staff were really friendly and sorted my order.
M. M.
Always a great option for some authentic Indian veg food and dessert. Well established family run business that has been around for years in Leeds. Grown in popularity following the refurb a couple of years back. Staff always pleasent and friendly.
L.
Had a great samosa to start, then samosa chaat. Really tasty food, served without a long wait, even though there was a constant queue for take-out meals.
No problem getting a table, even though we went at peak lunchtime.
Really great spot.
G. J.
Food quality didn’t meet expectations. All the dishes tasted similar from mix veg to Bhindi and paneer
K. S.
Samosa Chaat and masala chips were nice, definitely worth a try, gets quite busy.
N. H.
The best samosas ever, delicious sweet treats, and friendly service. Will definitely return
N.
Good food and friendly service.
The spring rolls were amazing!!
S. S.

S. A.
As soon as you walk in you are enticed by the wonderful array of Indian sweets and snacks..they taste as good as they look. Ive eaten in snd can reccomend the puri and vegetable curries..just like mum makes. Their service has always been top notch and incomparable to many other similar places 👏
H. H.
Loved it can't wait to go back and bring my mates xx
A. S.
Ordered Laddu and it was really good Parul and sharan always served me with a big smile they both are really nice
N. S.
Food is tasty and Indian sweets are traditional and fresh. Price is also genuine. Nice place to have Indian food. Prefer to call and make order ready for take away, saves time as they are busy for take aways. Staff is nice and helpful. Dine-in is small and crowded on weekends. Takeaway is busy during festival and weekend. Keep visiting on Sundays.
A. B.
Recommended by a friend and was lovely, look forward to going again.
A. K. N.
If you want authentic Indian snacks, sweets and food this is one of the very few options in Leeds.
R. S. A.
We visited first time here that's the great 👍 restaurant for the vegetarian people
And we have taste different types of food that is very delicious. Specially pani puri.thanks
D. F.
I bought both savouries and sweets and was very pleased with them. Samosas were excellent.
My first visit to Anand's but won't be the last.
The lady that served me was extremely pleasant and helpful.
S. F.
Excellent vegetarian food (authentic Indian)
D. P.
Love the food from Anand sweet..amazing staff with great customer service
J. A.
Best samosas I have had in the UK
K. I.
The place is located in Harehills area of Leeds. It offers a taste of some of the Indian sweets. However, from my initial visit, the place appeared that it could do with an improvement in how it was managed. No clear pricing on the products, no labeling, no menu card as such.
It is alright if you know what you're getting or if you are able to identify what you want. Would be difficult I assume, for a non-native first timer.
A. D.
One word "PERFECT". Been here for like 6-7 times and everytime its just wow. From quantity to the taste and the prize, its more than worth it. One of the bestest indian food to try and overfill your stomach.😅
P. A.
Good place to have Indian Snacks, sweets and meals. The food is tasty and the place is a must try for anyone looking for some Indian snacks in Leeds area.
V. N.
Nice food, pleasant service, cozy atmosphere.
J. C.
Great selection of main meals, snacks and sweets. Service isn't the fastest, so not the place to go if you're in a hurry, but worth the wait if you've got the time. Everything seems well made and well presented. There's a decent selection of drinks too. They can handle large orders too, which is nice, if you don't fancy cooking for a function.
J. O.
Went because of seeing it on a TV programme. Had samoas and some sweets. Really great quality. Definitely will be going again. Very friendly too.
C. B.
A really busy cafe serving absolutely delicious main dishes, pakoras and sweets (plus much more - that's all I've sampled so far).
Can't wait for my next visit.
S. R.
Last week came to visit and enjoyed some hot food as well while sat in. Really enjoyed the Samosa chaat and Bel Puri, and their pakoras. Took home a selection of sweets - my personal favourites are the red lentil burfi, gajar halwa (carrot), gulab jamun and peda. Didn't get any Jalebi this time but have fond memories of that too. Tried Rasgulla and Cham cham this visit and have to say I'm in love. Handy parking available on the streets near the store.
R. C.
Having watched Remarkable Places to Eat, I knew I needed to try Anand Sweets. The samosas lived up to the hype - beautiful, filled to the brim, with a zingy sauce. First time trying gulab jamun, and I was really impressed by the balance of sweet richness and the hint of spices. All topped off with some refreshing mango lassi. Amazing!
L. Y.
Best indian sweets I have tasted. Food was pretty decent too. Good prices
m. m.
The best vegetarian Indian in Leeds. Genuine Indian food and sweets. Take away and sit in.
M. S.
Friendly staff and delicious food. I come here often and this place never disappoints. Prices are great too.
T. H.
The samosas and pakoras are as enjoyable as Bobbies used to be . The staff are lovely and there's a relaxing vibe about the place . I can't believe how much I enjoyed a vegetarian meal. Value for money is incredible .
w. a.
Best service provided by Sharon and partly both are really helpful...
J. C.
Have been going to Anand for quite a few years. Seen different people behind the counter and everyone has always made me feel welcome and have given me quite a few tips over the years. Best place I know for sweets, breads, side dishes, virtually anything I might need when we have a curry night. Big thankyou to all at Anand.
F. O.
Placed my order for collection the day before but still had a wait but really worth the delay, delicious authentic Indian food 😋
R. R.
Hands down the best place for fresh, authentic and affordable Indian food in Leeds. Their samosas are delicious, the thali (lunch only) is excellent value for money and the curries are served in a good portion size. They do a large range of vegan options. And Sweets are particularly well known for their sweets. Above all, the service is of a high standard at this family run eatery - always friendly, smiling and welcoming. We have been loyal customers for a few years now, and long may this continue! Thank you for being our home away from home, Anand Sweets. You take us back to India every time. :-)
M. G.
First time to visit yesterday .. had the thali and paneer with peas. Delicious ..Will definitely be back.
K. S.
Service was a little slow but the place was rammed so I can understand, the samosa chaat was lovely! Took another couple of samosas for home too 😋😋
A. D.
Although ownership has changed since my last visit, it was just as good as ever today. Huge range of options on the menu, though I tend to go for the daily thali since I know it's going to be terrific whatever they put on. I had a samosa and a couple of paneer pakora too. All excellent. I'd go every day if my waistline would let me
K. L.
The perfect place to go if you enjoy the many 'tasters' that precede your curry as well as home cooked vegetarian curries. Lovely staff always willing to help and explain the food. The lunchtime Thalis are brilliant. All food very inexpensive and well prepared.
P. D.
Best indian sweets and food friendly staff 🤗
S. L. L.
First time had Aloo Parathas, it was so good, Chole Bathura and Samosa are very good as usual. Except Dhokla is not soft and spongy, Dahi vada are not soft too. Rasmalai is super.
A. G.
Good for.snacks but not for curries.
Dal makhani had burnt smell and shahi paneer needed some salt
S. N.
If you fancy real Indian food, this is the place! Best samosa and onion baji from here and been having it for years and still the same... Yummy...
N. J.
The portion of a la carte is less, Thali/full meal is better. Sweets, Paneer and Samosa are good.
b. r.
No other place in Leeds we can get typical Indian sweets. Must try thali when you dine in.. Can include more variety of south Indian sweets also ..Great taste and refreshing for your taste buds . Samosa and other chats are awesome
P. S.
Former chef has taken over and running the business. This time went in for a mid morning breakfast. I phoned ahead of arriving to save time. By the time I got there I didn't have to wait long before the pronthy were coming hot off the thawa. Lovely with yoghurt but butter and cup of desi cha. Very nice!!!!
D. S.
Absolutely amazing selection of sweets, staff were fantastic as I'm a bit of a picker, sorted me straight out, going again at the end of the month, fantastic
D. S.
This place is brilliant but the last 2 times I've had muli pronte been so spicy I couldn't eat them. Just ordered 2 more at 2pm told the guy not spicy please !! Guess what so spicy again !!! Please sort out people !!!!
I. C.
This food is 'home cooked' by a team of dedicated technicians, and served up to eat in or take away by a most charming and helpful staff.
Mr Anand's 'heavenly gravy' in the Kofta dishes makes me need a few hours sleep to dream of what I have just eaten.
And the prices are better than reasonable. I don't know how they produce such quality at such a price. Go see and taste!
s. m.
This is the authentic place to go if you really need Vegan or Vegetarian food, as the owners are Indians. The takeout had lots of Sikh and Hindu customers as most eat vegan or Vegetarian. The chaat we got was good but a little pricey for £4.00, it was 100% vegetarian maybe the extra price? Generally not a meat food takeout. Some of the food don't have much of a kick in it. Overall good for snaks but it's a little pricey for what it is in a area that's packed with take outs at far lower prices and the foods at same or higher standards. If you are on a budget avoid it, you will not be getting much change out of £20 for 2 people on light snaks hear!
j. p.
Good place for a quick bite / nibble
Recommend to try - Samosas / kachori
Known for Samosa chaats , chole bhature, chilly paneer
Pure and only Veg food!
T.
Been getting food and eating here for years, always value for money and always excellent food. I can’t think of a single complaint to make other than parking can be an issue but that’s out of Anands hands!
If I could ask for one thing it would be delivery to Chapel Allerton or, if not that, a street food version of Anand in Chapel Allerton.
Take the time to go and sample the food, the staff always have time to advise and help out if you’re not certain!!!! 10 out of 10 every time!!
C. W.
Anand's is without doubt my favourite eaterie by far! The place is spotlessly clean, the people running it are very friendly and helpful, and if anything the food gets better every time I go. I'm so pleased that they have added a small restaurant to their established take-away service, and have taken several friends, all of whom have loved it...even the non-vegetarians! Pummy has recommended several dishes to me , all of which were excellent. When I am with friends we tend to order several dishes between us and share everything, which is a great way to try lots of different things. The prices are very reasonable, the food cooked freshly and I have never been disappointed. I would whole-heartedly recommend Anand's to anyone...and frequently do!
D. D.
Really good vegetarian dishes, real home cooking (based on dishes my neighbours used to cook when I lived in the East Midlands), and delightful savoury snacks and sweets. I always try to call in on the few times I'm ever in Leeds.
K. H.
Anand Sweets brings an exotic Asian style sweets and desert selection and also provides other qualities such as cakes for party occasions.
S. M.
Brilliant and authentic snacks and sweets, pity it's so close to work. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Worth a visit. Great place for a quick snack too
I. D.
Anand sweets is much better than many sweet shops up and down the Harehills
And, which claim to be Indian but clearly they are not. Eat in Anand if you want to eat authentic Indian delicacy. Rest of the places in the area serve Pakistani food in Indian name. Be warned.
M. D.
This place is fantastic! So many vegan options (even the sweets) and amazingly friendly staff. We had so much food and less than £10 per head. The Kachori Chaat and tinda massala were favourites. Will be back soon, want to try everything!
G. M.
As well as selling sweets it is also a lovely cafe - producing vegetarian/vegan food - beautiful curries, dhals, breads, pakoras and samosas. Very reasonable prices and delicious, can eat in or take away.
K. S.
Very sumptuous Indian dishes at very reasonable price - never disappoints!!
I. M.
Come on down to the pure punjabi vegetarian experience family run business.
Takeaway or come and take a seat with friends or family.
Try our vegan dishes pakora's, vegetable curry dishes.
J. J.
A lovely little Indian restaurant and takeaway. We go at least once a week and never get disappointed with our meals though they do sometimes slip up and serve starter and mains together, hence only 4 stars.
H. I.
Absolutely loved the desi breakfast and the experience
However to pay the queue was pretty long and had to wait almost 20 mins just to pay
s. g.
Very friendly & helpful staff ,they will make you a requested dish even if its not on menu the savories & curries are very tasty & value for what they cost ,but i can recommend trying the pickles & chutneys best mango chutney ever . 10 / 10 from me .

One of the best places in Leeds for Indian vegetarian food. Delicious snacks, mouth-watering sweets and traditional curries and breads (chappathis, baturas and naans) all invite you to indulge in wallet-friendly culinary enjoyment.
Vegan options abound for those that are dairy averse.
