Really lovely cafe that I wish I'd known about sooner. Plenty of excellent quality vegan options and very reasonable. Soft drinks were slightly pricey but everything else was very well priced. Will definitely be back

Nice location for a hot drink, some cake and a place to relax. Staff are friendly and there are also exhibitions and a gift shop in the same building. There is outdoor seating for when the weather is nice.
On this occasion there were also some chess boards available to play for everyone due to a chess club playing there along with some calm music.

Quaint cafe with both indoor and outdoor, covered and open seating areas. Stunning victorian features and architecture adding to the already interesting space. High ceilings give it a breathable atmosphere and tables are spaced nicely to have your own private company.
Staff are attentive and very sweet, making things as easy as possible for you.
I love their selection of Food and Drink - the Organic Cola being a personal favourite. Blankets are available if you're a little chilly and the music always allows me to relax.
Highly recommend.

Super friendly place with good veggie and vegan options, Covid safe too.

Friendly and welcoming cafe, peaceful atmosphere. Enjoyed my sandwich and coffee. Much prefer this place to the chain coffee shops on the High Street. Will be back soon.

Lovely place for a coffee and cake. The food is really nice too. The HEART centre is a nice setting with the option to buy lovely plants and flowers too. In a convenient location in central Headingley but it’s still relaxed and feels very covid safe. Really appreciate this place!

Nice décor and food. A good place to meet friends for lunch. Was once very child friendly - not so much anymore.

Wonderful place, though would be great if they improved the infant changing facilities - perilous for small ones, too small for bigger ones.

Always love coming here to get away from the hustle and bustle of headingley. They have great brunches and the coffee is top notch. Be sure to check out the plant collection they have too!

Great spot to grab a bite to eat. Lots of space around the tables and an excellent outdoor area. Good beer selection and the burger was great.

Just took our granddaughter to play in the soft play room and had lunch. The soft play is better for under 2 yrs old but the cafe/restaurant is great. Our granddaughter who is two and a half had the fish finger with chips and beans all prepared and cooked on site, I had the weekly stew and my wife had a BLT and it was all lovely. Great coffee to.

Nice atmosphere, nice music, friendly staff, although, unfortunately it takes forever to get your food, 3/4s,of an hour to get a meal, and there was only 5 tables occupied, 3 of which had already been served? The food is good I can not understand why the service takes so long? Worth a visit, and outdoor seating as well
T. G.
Lovely little place, tucked away from the high street. Quiet, well stocked with good facilities and a range of activities
M. G.
Lovely cake ,coffee and service very good

Fantastic centre both for small scale cultural events, or just nattering with friends in the cafe. I booked the main hall for a birthday party for 80 people and it was excellent - the staff were incredibly friendly and accomodating.
(Mind you, it has changed a bit since the 70's , when I knew it as Headingley County Primary School - they've gone soft now, with indoor toilets...honestly...)

I do love this place, the atmosphere and choices on the menu, but was a bit disappointed today when I chose the vegan burger. It stated plant based burger in breadbun, with lettuce, cucumber, tomato and onion with chips. It stated you could do away with the breadbun and replace with salad so I chose this. What came was a thin burger, two slices of a tomato, two wafer thin slices of cucumber on top of the burger, about six leaves of baby gem lettuce and a small side of chips. No dressing. So as this was the salad that was already accompanying the advertised meal I asked if there was more salad to replace the breadbun as stated on the menu. He went to check and returned to tell me I'd been given more lettuce leaves, that was the extra salad. This meal cost £10. I did think I would get at least a whole tomato and a full centimetre of cucumber for that, and perhaps a little extra salad instead of the breadbun such as red pepper, grated carrot, the odd olive or two, varied salad leaves....? Way, way too expensive! But still a nice place to go.

Always a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Food is amazing - loads of choice for veggies, vegans, and gluten free. Great place for food with friends or a place to study for a few hours.

Very good and friendly service. Good food and good prices. We go every time we are in leeds

It's OK, but same problems as with the old place, it's stopped being a community hub, it's a venue for laptop business people, it's the indie Starbucks. It's become really unattractive to family with children, and they say they pride them selfs on family vibes, they don't, why make the family area so dull, paint it Grey, hide the books and take the selfs down, why hide the toys in a Box and place Xmas decorations all over it so they can't open it? And make sure you dont have a toy on the floor when a certain waitress crosses.it's ment to pull in family with children, people who need a place to go, a safe space I suppose, you know? What community hubs should be. The menu is so ridiculous, the food and price, you couldnt just buy a chocolate cake, because the cakes have been modernise with feeling and goals, and soyed and on and on. It's great if it was in Leeds highstreet, but again its ment to be a community hub, heart has lost that vibe that made it special, it's become insanely pretentious, just look at the picture of the "cafe", is that a cafe? Is it welcoming to family? Is that "cafe" what you imagined as a community hub would look like ????? Or does it look like somewhere you mighy take your date to on Saturday night? honestly lento down the road has the same values, better food, more choice and none of the pretentiousness....ps, eggs on cibatta, bacon sandwiches on cibatta, one of the toughest smallest bread you can ever find and your there chewing it like a dog with a toffees for months, exactly what a child enjoys eating...
Response to Mike...
thanks for the email, somehow I can't reply directly...
I still stand by the review , you have lost that child friendly vibe, and this is a review About the bar /restaurant, and as a father of two, who has a connection to the building from day one, I'm not deliberately being picky with my critique. Im reviewing the cafe, which is what I did, but I feel you haven't Address the " "family area " being painted grey, shelfs removed and a gray box placed in a sitting Area as an " attraction " to children and family.
Why is it a bad thing for you to say "yes we are a cafe aiming for a different audience," it's very apparent, you can't look at the cafe and menu and think " yep! This is place for kids". And Im not saying you can't have that as a Base, but youre questioning what I see in your business , and I'm asking you to realistically look at it and think " does it scream family/ community or jumped up Starbucks ", You'll see more laptops and meetings in your cafe then families and paper and pencils..
So I stand by my comments you have become the new Starbucks.
Regarding the pretentiousness, the menu is so pretentious, let's not pretend it's not, " how do we posh a bacon sandwich? Ciabbata bread, English breakfast? ( the simplest thing on the planet)
25 different mushroom and some insanely awful beans..I appreciate the pettyness but I feel the point can be made simply.. Equally although heart has programs with in the building for children, you can't take that room and attach it to the cafe, I wasn't reviewing the child house room or the apple day celebration...
This review was about the cafe, is a 1 star? no. Is it a 5 star? No... I rated it a 3 even with my personal views.....amd for others reading this, family wise there is a new coffee house on the arndale that has answered all my queries with heart, a cafe with a decent child area and supporting a great cause.... Mike perhaps you would do well to understand that a community memeber believes and is telling you that you have missed stepped with your " cafe" and as a community hub you should perhaps ask others for their opinions rather than defending your brilliance, especially If your cafe family quota is filled by another people's ideas in other parts of the building.. .

Best veggie breakfast I've ever had. Smoky beans, wild mushrooms and roast vegs. tastiest veggie sausage. They really care about making the veggie option tastey rather than just anything that isn't meat. Thank you !

What is there not to like about the Heart? There is a great cafe, outdoor space, kiddy friendly and a great co-working office offering in the Pulse. I am full time at Pulse and it is a fantastic place for networking and carrying out self employed work.
