Reviews of Crag House Farm

Very lovely environment for afternoon or brunch! Food is tasty and service is good.
K. W.
Perfect place. Fabulous service, no rushing , just quietly efficient and kind staff. Beautiful, fresh food. Lovely little gift shop area and a garden at the back that you could easily miss. Even a play area for children, as well as a well stocked garden centre.
M. P.
The great work of this charity swayed me to a 5 rather than 4-star rating. The service in the restaurant was good. Relatively sparse choice for vegans. Having said that the beetroot falafel salad was really, really nice; the vegan breakfast was fine but nothing to write home about.
T. G.
What a Gem of a place. A visit to see our aunty Christine who is a regular there, took us for a wonderful lunch and a look around.
The sausages i bought can i say are the best sausages I've ever eaten.
A fabulous place to go to and definitely we will be back!!
R. S.
Wow wow wow , bit expensive but worth the price. The quality of both the service and food is second to none. No wonder you have to book. They have disabled people working for them too which is another plus for me as this group of people are rarely included or involved with other business. Recommend a visit , a sit down and have some food and a visit to the garden centre too. Xx

Lovely afternoon tea as a birthday treat for my mum. Nice cosy ambience in the little conservatory. Staff were lovely and attentative and the food was delicious, scones were huge and we took some home. The chutney in some of the sandwiches was so good that we bought some in the shop next door and the staff working there were so friendly too. Just a lovely place to visit where it feels like the staff really enjoy working there.

Although the area was full to capacity the staff were calm, efficient and friendly. Each member of the team made our party of four feel comfortable with our choices and needs. An enjoyable afternoon for a special birthday. Thanks to all involved

Popped in for a birthday treat - lunch with my friend. We went for the two courses for £12:70 each . She loved her brisket roll and I had a really nice lightly battered fish supper as they back home ! We were held up by traffic but they had let our table for us - I tried to ring /text and let them know but no phone in restaurant’

Had a fantastic all day breakfast at Crag House Farm today. Staff were great as usual, the restaurant and farm shop was immaculate. Really is highly recommended. Thanks guys.

Lovely Christmas meal with crackers too! 6 of us and we had a lovely get together. Ideal place
S. C.
Really enjoyed our Christmas meal will definitely be going back. You are best booking as it's not a big restaurant.

We've been here 3/4 times before and its consistently good plus the shop displays an array of items including a food counter all somewhat specialised I would sum up by saying that Crag House Farm is well worth a visit.

Pass this place often and today decided to call in . Pleasantly surprised by the long driveway and hedged roadside !!
Saw a car park on the left and drove in . There were several disabled parking bays . I noticed too that there were cars parked nearer the buildings and due to showery on off weather ventured down the narrow track . Whilst it s true there are a further 3 disabled bays outside the building space is a bit tight . It leads to the farm so you have to turn around here and space is a little limited for a small minibus! However I got in and was able to unload out of the back of my vehicle . There has been a lot of changes since I last came here !! I saw that there was now a cafe as well as a restaurant on site . I only really wanted a tea and a look see so went into the cafe . The door is wide enough for a wheelchair but is not automatically opened .Once inside there was space down the centre for me and this led to a small annexe with glass walls with a view onto a central courtyard. There were a few tables in there and room for my chair . It’s clean modern and the cake was lovely . Great place I have found if not requiring the restaurant itself .

We've been here a couple of times for breakfast and never been disappointed. The ingredients are excellent and the staff friendly. We'll recommend. Booking essential though!!

A Christian, ethically and sustainably run working farm for and with addicts, homeless and troubled adults, teaching social and practical skills. A wonderful place to visit on open days, with some amazing produce and beautiful surroundings.

I went with a friend for a late breakfast, the food was excellent a five piece breakfast for under 6 pounds. Very fresh produce, the waiting staff are very attentive, efficient and helpful. This is a place I will definitely be visiting again. Next time we will book a table, although we only had a 15 minute wait which was ok, we looked around their wonderful shop while waiting. I would highly recommend this place.
V. L.
I have visited here quite a few times the food is nice. The coffee at the main restaurant is ok however in the grab and go shop it isn't great as from a vending machine. I visited today after lambing live and wanted coffee and cake. When I visited the main cafe the matradee suggested there was space until I said I only wanted coffee and cake. I was told that I had to use the grab and go coffee and eat in the garden centre.
There are no high chairs at the garden centre part and I had a baby and a toddler. Carrying hot drinks with small children isn't easy.
C. B.
It was great when the lady who met us knew who we might be and had our booking in mind. The service was timely, the staff were attentive and the food was tasty. Thanks so much for hosting our 60th birthday celebration, one to remember. 😍❤
C. W.
Very good visit for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Very friendly staff and the food was very tasty and moderately priced all things considered. Some of the waitresses serving were slightly less than attentive, but friendly when you got their attention. Well worth a visit for the restaurant, the farm shop, the cafe, and the nursery. Highly recommended.
A. G.

Stopped in at Crag House Farm today for lunch. A beautiful Garden Centre, gift shop/farm shop with fresh produce. The Granary Restaurant services delicious fresh foods. The staff were friendly and welcoming.Crag House is the Headquarters to the Christian Charity Caring For Life. The Charity seeks to support disadvantaged and vulnerable people Leeds, definitely worth stopping in.
S. S.
Lovely family breakfast from an extensive menu. High quality fresh, local ingredients. Friendly yet professional staff. The restaurant felt covid-safe with well spaced tables, masked staff with regular sanitising & cleaning observed.
L. M.
It's a lovely place to. Good place to go if you are in a wheel chair, staff friendly to. Food and really good all home made. Bake cheesecakes tastes great.
A. S.
Very good food in cafe. Good service and reasonably priced.
J. C.
Lovely place to eat, the food was delicious, well presented and the staff were friendly and helpful. The shop has some lovely produce and the garden centre and the walks are very enjoyable. A very well organised venue in a lovely rural location and well worth a visit.
J. W.
I have been visiting The Granary at Crag House Farm for a number of years. As a charity, I respect the good work they do, and see visiting the restaurant as a good way to support their work. Although the quality of the evening meals has been a little uneven recently, the breakfasts have been consistently excellent and pretty much the best in the area. On a positive note whenever I have raised a complaint regarding the meals, the staff have always offered to rectify the situation, which is nice to know. Regardless, I have stopped visiting for evening meals now and just stick to breakfast. I'm never disappointed with those!
J. D.
very nice place. lovely friendly staff and the food is delicious. and look for all the wonderful goodies in the farm shop.
M. B.
Lovely food, friendly helpful staff.
C. L.
Met up with members of our Zoom Yoga class and had a brilliant time. The choice of food was wide and there was something to suit all tastes. The portions were so huge, that no-one managed to clean their plate. So we all went away feeling guilty.
M. A.
Highly recommended lovely place for breakfast or lunch. Very well organized and fast service. Well spaced immaculately clean felt very safe as regards Covid-19. A. H.
Had the Gut Buster breakfast. They're not kidding with that name, it was massive! (I ended up wrapping one of the sausages up and taking it home. I felt bad for leaving it.) All the components were very tasty and the staff is lovely.
T. S.
Very pleasant and tasty snacks. Staff very attentive and provided prompt service.
Restaurant also available which must try.
Only fault is that the space is all hard finishes which tends to multiply the noise levels due to "echo" effect.
j. h.
Very welcoming food good.
P. S.
Good food and caring people. The farm Is pratically self-sufficient.!
G. E.

Fantastic food with friendly and attentive staff. Had a gluten free afternoon tea and it was absolutely delicious, loads of food too! Incredibly impressed with the quality of the food and presentation, usually gluten free options are somewhat lacking in taste and effort but Crag House Farm did a cracking job. Will be going back soon no doubt.
S. D.
Beautiful meal with exceptionally polite and professional staff. The grounds and the buildings are amazing also. I can't wait to go back.
C. M.

Loved it. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive, despite being busy and a staff member down. The kitchen (of which you have full sight from most the tables) looked efficient and worked well to provide our food in a timely manner. The food itself (full english 😁) was hot and very, very good! The place itself has been very well restored and is an enjoyable place to spend time. Highly recommended.

Great breakfast, excellent coffee - disappointing farm shop. We bought bacon and was disappointed to find the amount of liquid given up on cooking. I wouldn't swap my local butchers for meat produce sold here.

This is the most amazing place. Do visit! Excellence is on display wherever you look, from the quality of the offer in the garden centre, the products sold in the farm shop to the delicious food in the Granary Restaurant, not forgetting the Grab & Go café! The grounds are lovely too. Their work with the vulnerable and disadvantaged is an example to any charity.

P. D.
Lovely place. So close to Leeds but could be deep in country. It's name does not do it justice. It is like a garden centre with both a cafe and restaurant. It does also adjoin a farm.

Great charity restaurant with lovely gift shop, fresh local food and plants. It's nice to be able to buy lovely things knowing that the money is going to a good cause.
L. H.
They do the best breakfast it is always a great treat for us.
s.
Good space and quality food at the cafe.
I was disappointwd that the farm shop didnt stock fresh fruit or veg. More of a smart gift shop with a nice deli rather than grocers.
M. R.
I can't believe it is only a couple of miles away. Cool nursery and great farm shop. Will be returning.
C. B.
Really nice relaxing atmosphere, lovely food. Little play area in the corner for children. Lovely staff that interacted with my 17 month old who went out of their way to help find a dairy free dessert for her. Definitely recommend it.

Excellent food , service and the best charitable organisation. The shop should be open, the meat is wonderful.

This is a charity run by lovely, genuine people to help people with mental disabilities. The food in the restaurant is amazing, the selection of items for sale in the shop is superb, and the staff are polite and helpful! It's a little pricey but I know my money is going to a good place, and everything is local and highest quality.
J. G.
Very clean, very well organised and good food.

C. T.
Served quickly by friendly waiter
F. O.
Great food, friendly staff and outstanding location.
D. H.
Love this place. Beautifully converted with a cafe and restaurant, deli and gift shop. Also a small nursery shop. Food was delicious too I went for the veggie quiche with very interesting tasty homemade salads. A good plateful. Planned on a sweet but was too full. I would imagine on a sunny day it could be very busy and you may have to queue. They are however currently extending the restaurant into a new conservatory. Well worth a visit.
A. S.
Lovely restaurant serving delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Always have to buy a cake to take home! Child friendly and lovely grounds to explore too
K. L.
This Cafe/ Restaurant is the perfect meeting place for friends and family. Always a lovely atmosphere and a warm welcome, food is cooked right in front of you and is delicious! Great coffee and great specials and the shop is ideal for local meat ( sausages, bacon , ham, cheese and so much more. But the best part of it all is that the proceeds go to keeping special needs adults in work. Fabulous!!
P. F.

S. H.

P. S.
Excellent food and service. Always enjoy the experience.
A. L.
We went with a friend for lunch in the restaurant. It was our first visit but our friend had been several times a while ago. The menu had a wide choice with good service. Fish pie served with peas and dressed side salad priced at £10.95 was delicious, though a little on the small side. The cakes were delicious - the cappuccino cake was particularly good. However, they were unable to cater for one of our party who was diabetic and asked for fruit as a sweet.
There's a separate coffee shop selling soups and sandwiches etc open til 4pm. The gift shop is attached to the restaurant and also sells many different foods both fresh and packaged and there's a sizable nursery there too.
You cannot book a table in the restaurant we were told on telephoning a cpuple of days ahead unless you are a member of their charity and frequent user of the farm we understood. However, there wasn't an issue with seating the three of us and it was half term week when we went.
All in all, it's well worth a visit.

Very friendly and welcoming .Restuarant spacious and plenty off room between tables excellent choice off menu and service very speedy even though restuarant quite full food excellent. I took my elderly mother in law and because off the space between tables there was no awkwardness seating and leaving the table as she is not good on her pins .Parking disabled nr entrance or a drop off point so more able bodied can park the car lots of parking areas . A definate must to visit

Excellent recommendation for food. Excellent walks down the valley, set in a real tranquil environment with a highly recommended play area for the kids. Also 2 ponds which I have seen ducks go to. Farm House shop also sells fresh produce from meat to milk to there own home grown jam, quite a treat.
s. h.
Nice garden center and coffee shop off the beaten track.
D. B.
This is a very nice place, great ambience. Have visited the restaurant before (it's great). Today was the turn of the humbler but adequate café (allows dogs inside). The farm shop has great produce, including eggs from the very free range chickens whose orchard we walked past. There's a pretty walk to some newly constructed ponds (but dogs not allowed in that part). Also a pretty cottage garden (where anyone can sit), and a lightly stocked garden centre. Run by a Christian charity for adults with learning disabilities, so very worthy to boot.

If you want a great meal in a beautiful setting and know that you're helping, at the same time, some of the most vulnerable in our society, head to Crag House Farm.
J. L.
Great place and gardens. The menu can be a bit limited at times and jacket potatoes are expensive for what they are. The soup and pie of the day is good value.
D. L.
Very busy, good atmosphere, decent food, not cheap though
R. K.
Great place in the countryside, wonderful food and staff!
S. T.
Could not fault the meal (fish and chips) or the service. Meal was hot and batter was the best I've ever tasted. Dessert (ice cream) was lovely.
R. L.

Wonderful and relaxing atmosphere. Staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I had lunch here with my mum and the food was excellent. I have been here a few times with friends for the afternoon tea and a scone offer, very scrumptious. They also have a sensory garden that you can walk through, that leads to large ponds with an abundance of plants and wildlife. There is a bird watching hut that overlooks one of the large ponds. Highly recommend this place for all ages.
R. W.
Absolutely lovely place to visit.Lovely food and staff

Good farm environment. Worthwhile charity work. After some great refreshment, you can do a good relaxing nature trail walk around the farm.
J. A.
Beautiful food and amazing staff.
I. H.
Pleasant atmosphere with plenty of space between tables due to COVID-19 measures.
Food doesn't seem up to the standard we'd experienced before the lockdowns of 2020 - 21. Burger was OK, but nothing special.
J. R.
We went in the coffee shop. Food and drinks were nice and the decor is good. However, they used to have children's books, which were really useful for entertaining children, but they have got rid of them.
S.
Lovely food . . Great service . . Consistently good

P. B.
Busy as usual, but always good food and service!
J. S.
Lovely for brunch. Good prices. Friendly staff. Their eggs Benedict is very good. Easy access for wheelchairs. Beautiful views. Having a nose round the farm shop and garden nursery is always good fun too. We got our Christmas tree from here after looking at a few different places- by far the best and somehow one of the cheapest!
S. C.
Always enjoy a trip here and the food is good.
M. P.
This place is very "twee". Obviously God prefers to have bright modern establishments than feed the world's starving
The garden centre was very limited in choice.
Having said that the cup of coffee I had is in my top 10 for taste and strength from a retail establishment.
V. V.
Hidden surprise. We had a lovely time. Amazing food, cake and shop. Enjoyed our time.
I. P.

Lovely afternoon tea, pre booked to enjoy with our friends visiting from Scotland. Had to ask for milk for our tea drinkers and knives to butter the scones but think that was unusual!
We had a long overdue catch up and can happily recommend this popular venue.

I was kindly given a gift voucher for Crag House Farm, having never been before we decided to take our 7 year old grandson to see what my friends had been raving about how lovely the place was. We took a walk around the lovely gardens to the play area and looked at the wildlife through the hides. The water features for the wildlife and wild flora for all the butterfly's and bees ect. was lovely. We then had a lovely meal in the big barn restaurant, it was very busy had to wait half an hour, but it was worth it, good choice of home produced food, fresh eggs and gammon, lots to choose from. Children's menu was good. After we purchased home made corniche pasties and cheese, gorgeous slices of cake. Went to the little cafe and had some lovely ice cream, took a look around the garden centre. So we will definatly come back again.
All this is for a great cause. Caring For Life a Christian charity supporting disadvantaged people.
M. T.

Lovely place to meet friends for lunch

Bit of a hidden gem with a lovely peaceful playground for the children hidden in the woods. Two bird hides to explore, a large nursery inside a big greenhouse, coffee shop plus a much larger restraunt and gift shop. The food is lovely if the service is a little slow (12 minutes to get a cappuccino) some lovely walks nearby you can link up to make a good walk. Recommended.
j. l.
Food is delicious but staff are v slow and seem to lack direction and training, they are v pleasant but dont appear to have any type of urgency or oomph when serving and just kind of wander around without a lot of purpose. A coffee can take up to 10 minutes to arrive which is a bit frustrating when it isn't even busy. I do feel like i'd like to get up and organise them all into an effective team. Hopefully this will be read and taken onboard as its such a lovely place to eat but....
K. L.
Excellent, arrived with little expectation and left very pleased.
The staff were friendly and I decided to have a ploughmans lunch.
Lots on the plate and all good eating. Felt full afterwards. Very relaxing with the piano playing in the background. 10/10 highly recommended..
Will be back soon as. Well done something that works and is spot on price wise

I went here with my husband for a birthday lunch. My husband had a steak and mango drink. I had a burger and a pear drink. It was very fresh and tasty. The atmosphere was lovely. There was a pianist playing the piano which was very good. We will definitely be coming back soon.
L.
Only visited the shop...lots of lovely food items. Even more expensive than Waitrose for exactly the same preserved lemons, but I guess Crag House Farm's margins are higher and purchasing power lower. Anyway, the lamb chops were delicious and the chops' relatives were grazing in the field near the entrance - a matter to ponder 🐑!!!

This is a hidden gem of a place which I only recently found out about. In addition to the garden centre there's a lovely restaurant and a fabulous gift shop with an eclectic mix of interesting items. They also do afternoon teas and these are quickly booked and have been highly recommend by several friends who had lunch there with me recently. We had a large party for our walking group "Christmas lunch" and the staff were really friendly and welcoming and efficiently catered for the large group. This place is well worth a visit whether to the garden centre, to have Afternoon Tea or a meal or even look for little gems in the gift shop.
J. C.
Lovely meal, kind staff and festive atmosphere. Oh and the pork pies are to die for!
E. A.
(Translated) The place is quiet, the atmosphere is amazing, and the food is fresh, as the restaurant is on a farm, and there are products for sale
