An overwhelmingly positive experience! We were recommended here by The Ship who had stopped serving food - and what a good recommendation! The food was delicious and reasonably priced, the service prompt & friendly and it wasn't too crowded. The decor inside is beautiful and cozy, overall a lovely time. Would definitely recommend for some pub grub in the center of Leeds, I'll be going again!

After having a nice afternoon sleep (😇🤭😇) we took the bus to the city again, looking for a place to have a bite to eat. After walking for 20 minutes we found this restaurant. It was a bit chilly to eat outside, so we went down in the basement. Do not make the mistake we almost made by not going down, because it's worth it. A beautiful classic atmosphere, nice waitresses and we both got the evening special; a pizza and a drink for around 11 pounds. Pizza's were of good quality, so this one we can also recommend 💪🏼😘💪🏼.

Fab-bu-lous! The decor, the atmosphere and the service alone is 5 stars. But then the food arrived, and I was truly impressed. I ordered the 4 cheese pizza, and it was not only massive, but one of the best pizzas I've had in a long time. Will go there many times again!

Great location. Fabulous Christmas environment. Lovely lunch but have had better for the price. Roasties a little hard and dry but the beef was beautiful and tasty. Shame no longer take Taste Card's but was such a Christmassy delight to start the season off well. 😃

My wife and I were in Leeds shopping. We visited this pub to rest and cool off as the weather was hot. We ordered a pint of Amstel beer and Glass of Heineken Silver beer. It was happy hour and it cost only £6.50. We liked the nice decor inside but we sat outside. We enjoyed the experience and we'll definitely return whenever we are in Leeds. 100% highly recommended.

To be fair, it's not overpriced meals. They're basic and there's not much choice but it's ok - nothing more. If you want a "pub meal" then this is the place to come but if you're celebrating an occasion then Leeds has ample better alternatives. Not a vast menu & no steak/grill options, what they do is acceptable.

Our latest visit was disappointing. The main course of Caesar Salad consisted of lettuce leaves and chicken pieces with some dressing; there were no croutons. The pork loin was well cooked, but poor in comparison with my local pub. The place became colder as our meal progressed; I had to put my coat on. The toilets were dirty, and the whole placed is shabby. But the staff were excellent.

Nice place, busy on a Friday night good selection of beers. My only issue is the non-compliance for track and trace. Just simply adding hundreds of names and numbers on a single sheet is not the correct thing to do. I could have easily taken a picture and got loads of contacts from your customers. This is not right.- did not give my number.

Booked outside drinks on Saturday only to be told on arrival that outside is for walkins only and there was no space so we would have to be inside, as i protested and said I'd definitely booked for outside the door man was very rude in telling me that's not how it works. Went inside to speak to the lady on reception when was equally as rude and uninterested about my issue so gave up and just sat inside. All the bar and wait staff are lovely, just don't expect to actually be able to sit where you have booked for!

I absolutely love “The New Con” - a great place to go for a night out in Leeds! I haven’t been here for ages. Always visited here when my friend was at Uni & regular meet up place. They have a library where you can take a book and read it and put it back. Also a venue for live music. They do the best mock tails here! Friendly staff!

It was a nice place with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. They do, however, lose a star as they decided to close the kitchen early so had to move our reservation to an earlier time. They also didn't inform us that part of our meals was changed due to none being left, so we didn't find out until the meal was placed in front of us.

Had a lovely, relaxed lunch with a good friend here last week. We wanted somewhere with nice food and a relaxed atmosphere so we could chat for a while. This is the first time I’d been here and it definitely won’t be the last. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food was lovely. I had nachos to start with and they were the best I’d ever had! I didn’t realise that they would be home made. Yummy! The sea bass was cooked to perfection, very tasty. All in all, a great couple of hours spent. Thank you!

This Bistro is one of Leeds hidden gems. I always take friends and family here when they visit. The lunchtime two course menu is excellent value. Food always served hot and fresh. Great little sub-street level bar/restaurant. Lovely atmosphere inside with good selection of music, pool table at the back and a wide selection of alcoholic beverages. Pints are a reasonable price for Leeds City Centre. Families in the dining area seemed to be enjoying their meals. Seating is available outside when you come back up the stairs, some under a canopy at the top, the rest out at the front. Friendly and attentive staff and a great atmosphere. Worth a visit and would be a great bar to visit on a weekend.

Nice quiet restaurant rather than a drinking pub. Specially appealing to ladies who do lunch. Not suitable for wheelchair users as main entrance has stairs down into the building. There might be a rear entrance that I haven't seen, so best to ring up. They do a two or a three course deal (early bird / lunch), as well as a main menu.

In particular we both appreciated the service we received from Sam! He was such an attentive and polite man with a lovely, friendly personality. Nothing was too much for him! It's cheap and cheerful, which gives it a few plus points. However it does get very busy and when it does there never seems to be enough staff around to both serve and clear leftover drinks up. Also, the pool table clearly doesn't fit and with every shot you end up nearly hitting someone's drink on the table behind.

Relaxed friendly atmosphere. The bar staff are always welcoming. It's a great place to unwind after work. They have a happy hour which includes a good variety of drinks including lager, beer, and cider, spirits, wine and cocktails. They also serve delucious food and have a separate area for diners. There is a DJ on Friday and Saturday nights and they also have live music during the week.

There is an outdoor area too, during the summer months at least. At night it turns plays decent music, with the odd live performance. Has the feel of an old school Jazz Lounge, especially when they have the live music.

Not been here for probably 20 years. I took my 9 yr old daughter for some lunch and in the way down the stairs I said this place used to have a library I'm sure and low and behold it was still there. Brought back some wonderful memories. The service was immaculate and attentive. The food was presented perfectly and tasted beautiful. My daughter loves reading so the fact we were basically sat in a library pleased her no end. Definitely recommend this place with a huge 👍

(Visited Aug 2019) I met up with a few friends here- a big tick for accepting tastecard on a Friday night, haha. There was also a decent Happy Hour going on with a good selection of 2 for £5 drinks. I had a plentiful portion of Chilli Calamari to start with and was really fancying the Cajun Chicken Skewer after. I was sad to find out it had sold out: I then had one of those panic moments and so took up the server’s recommendation of the Chilli & Ginger Stir Fry. I added chicken to it for an extra £2. Although I love this sort of Chinese food, I wasn’t really in the mood for it. For dessert, I went for the Chocolate Salted Caramel Tart, which would have been better if it came with more Raspberry Coulis. It didn’t strike me as a taste sensation…I’ve actually enjoyed a Gü dessert pot at home more Overall, we received very good value and friendly service. All of us liked the interior, too. I would definitely recommend this place for an “It’s the weekend!” meal, although it does become a rowdier venue as the night goes on.

We went as a group of five for breakfast on Sunday. We read a nice review about their breakfast so we decided to try. The service is advertised to start at 10 AM. When we reached there it was 9.55. They said they wouldn't be starting until 10.30, and pointed that Bill's across is open and we could go there. I found this particularly strange, because basically you are sending your customer away to another restaurant. The review was quite exaggerated, breakfast was mediocre, not impressive whatsoever. The seating arrangements both inside and outside are nice. Rather than for breakfast I would recommend this place for beer.

Amazing as always. Me and my partner come here regularly and also always bring our friends and family. The food is absolutely perfect, and staff are attentive and friendly. They also remember the regulars which makes the experience more personalised. Tonight we came in last minute and were warned there may be a 25 min wait due to a table of 13 being in. The team managed to get our food out quickly and efficiently with no impact on quality. I dont know how they do it, keep it up !
