I celebrated my birthday yesterday in Bodega. The food was amazing, the service remarkable and we had a lovely time there. The nachos are a must along with the Elotes. I also tried the argentinian steak and was delicious, tender and juicy.

I found a new favorite place. The first time I went for their happy hour of 2 cocktails for 10 pounds, I ordered house nachos which were a perfect snack with the drinks, I also ordered the Puerto Rican fried chicken and it was delicious and brought back all my memories of family gatherings in Puerto Rico. Next time I went , we were served by such a lovely waitress that was helpful and friendly. We ordered the brisket and chicken quesadilla which were perfect and is making my mouth water just remembering it. We also got a Brazilian dish of sea food and rice that we didn’t appreciate too much. I will be coming back often, especially for their signature margarita

I imagine that if there is a heaven it will be catered by bodega and that their happy hour will run 24/7. The food here is delicious with options on all the classics. Portion size is good but not too much. I love the chicken mole and cola wings, which both have layers of flavour to enjoy every bite. The cocktails are some of the best I've had in Leicester and if attending during happy hour (which is most the time) they are really fairly priced. I recommend a zombie which isn't too sweet so you can have multiple without them becoming sickly and comes with a little flaming surprise on top. This place is a must for anyone that likes flavoursome food.

Visited here yesterday for the first time and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere and decoration is fun and service was good. Didn’t take long at all to come out despite ordering a mix of plates. The food was tasty, the nachos were a good recommendation and I loved the cola wing sauce. I would come here again.

Atmosphere was perfect for a hen party dinner. The staff were friendly, funny and very helpful. They made this night extra special. The food was delicious. We tried everything on the tapas menu. There wasn't anything I didn't like. The cocktails were great. It was 2 for 1 when we went. I recommend the mango one and the flaming passionfruit one (I can't remember their official names)

Great place to eat with tasty food but let down by a few minor details. We had a few of the cocktails before happy hour ended at 7pm. I don't know why you end it at 7, we would have had more drinks in the 2 for £10 after 7pm but we're not gonna pay extra just for the sake of what time it is. So surely that's a loss for you? Rum runner was our favourite, but the mojito was awful, very bitter. The wait time wasn't long for the food which is excellent for a Saturday night. The hotdog and burger were simple but quite tasty, the slaw was nice and chips great. We also ordered nachos but considering we paid over £12 it was a really small portion. They were nicely seasoned, toppings were ok, but way overpriced in my opinion for how many you get. Was supposed to be between 4 of us but it was a small portion for just 2 let alone 4. This could be a 5 star review but let down by.... the overpriced small portion nachos, the lack of attentiveness (no one came to ask if everything was ok or take any more drink orders) and 1 star lost for the weird wooden seat 2 of us had which had a strange wooden band back support. 2 of us were so uncomfortable we looked forward to going somewhere else. We would have asked to swap but we could see no other seats free, and no one came back after bringing out our food anyway. 3/5

Great vibe and decor. We were seated promptly and without the need for a reservation. The food was really tasty, my favourite was the sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo! 😋 But the most impressive of all was the incredible service from the whole team, especial thanks to Ryan who made us feel welcome and comfortable from the start! We went to "the case". Total Shi* hole. The rude staff wudnt take our order and then asked if we wanted to leave twice. I even told her it's my mom's bday and we had booked. She said yes u booked but I told yu were busy. I've never been to a restaurant were u can't order food. Anyway we ended up going to this Mexican place. They had a fantastic vegan menu... The people were so nice. When I ordered the dessert they put on loud music and sang happy birthday. We had a great day. I wud highly recommend this place. I wud give 10 stars. Food is also delicious the best Mexican food I've had as it's really fresh.

The atmosphere is buzzing and the service is top notch unfortunately the same cannot be said about the food. Inconsistent best describes the food here. We were a group of 10 and had ordered bowls of nachos (we had to fill in a pre order form as we were a group of more than 7) wand the initial bowl that arrived was crispy, fresh and tasty but was meant for a different table. When our bowls arrived, it was burnt ( the wait staff were polite and did not add the first bowl of nachos to our bill). The ceviche was drenched in lemon juice and was teeth tinglingly sour. Overall a tale of ups and downs with some of the starters being good with the mains mostly being a let down.

When we arrived we were seated straight away and our order was taken within good time as well. Problem is we were actually waiting over half an hour for our food to come out, it didn't ever look like it was really busy - we did have a member of staff come out and apologise saying that all of a sudden it had got busy!!!! The food was ok although my husband was disappointed with the portion size of rice that arrived, also £2.50 for a small glass of diet pepsi did appear to be a bit steep for me - if it had been free refills that may not have been too bad but we were not aware that this was the case. Not sure I would go again.

Really enjoyed this. Went today with my 9yr old. Have been with the whole family before. Really great service, lovely food and drinks and really accommodating to allergies. Only down side is that the rice feels very generic ans I try to avoid ordering it. Nachos are the best in Leicester!

Me and my boyfriend went here on a whim, he is not normally too adventurous with his food but we both thought it would be fun to try something new together. Bodega Cantina did not disappoint! The drinks and food were delicious and the best mexican food i've ever had. It is nice that you can choose what hot sauce you want and it comes in a little pot on the side so you don't even have to eat it so people who don't like spice don't worry! The food was also piping hot and came super quickly. We went in happy hour and the cocktails we got were presented well and were really yummy. I wish there was one closer to where we live, but travelling to Leicester to eat this delicious food again is definitely not a burden!

Delicious afternoon snack! We went at this tapas style and got 4 small plates and a side to share for a quick afternoon snack. The small plates were Baja Fish Tacos - 4/5* freshly battered fish straight from the fryer, with a crisp slaw wrapped in a soft taco Chicharrones de Pollo - 4/5* perfectly fried little chicken pieces with a spicy Mayo dip. Mexican Cola Wings - 4/5* these were amazing! 3 large chicken wings covered in a rich sweet sticky sauce that kept you wanting more! MEXICAN BEEF BIRRIA - 5/5*! OUTSTANDING. We needed more of it! Make these a large portion! Patatas bravas for the side - 3/5* Can’t wait to come back here again for an evening meal!

A little disappointing. I hadn't been in a few months and decided to swing by and grab the £6 lunch meal like I always used to. They no longer served the amazing fish and had run out of pork which wasn't a good sign so I ordered the chicken which I've had previously. The serving was half what I had before and the tortillas weren't soft or crunchy. All in all they were kinda meh in flavour and definitely lower in quality and execution than my previous experience. Drinks are still really nice though.

Their burritos are so tasty! The flavours really complement well together and LOVE it with the sour cream. I also got their churros which were perfectly crispy from the outside and soft inside. One of my absolute favourite hangout places in Leicester. Wonderful staff, tasty food, especially the house nachos and small plates, and snazzy drinks with ambient Latin music...have been many times and will be visiting again soon!

After wondering around looking for a suitable place, we decided to choose Bodega and booked a 22 people party and menu as they had to know in advance how much stock to get. Unfortunately, at the time of booking we were 8 people short. Any worries? Not at all! The manager assured us that we pay just for what we order. Happy days! What mattered most was the fact that we could stay for as long as we wanted (not a limited time of 2 or 3 hours, like most of the places around). The food was lovely, the staff attentive and very polite, all together a great experience. Thank you, guys!

Been here three times and had great experiences twice. The food has been great all three times, but on fathers day in June 2017 the service was dreadful. The service was incredibly slow: we sat outside but didn't get menus or asked if we wanted drinks for at least 30 minutes. This would be understandable if it was busy but it really wasn't at this point. I even got the bar man's eye and waved at some point but he just did nothing! The waitress didn't even give us the change (albeit just 10p) from our bill! All in all, that last meal there has really put me off, but I give the place 3 stars as the food is good.

We came here after our friend told us about the food and now we are certain it will be one of our favourite places to eat! If you are looking for tasty Mexican food and music then this is the place for you! However if your children do not like this food then there is also nuggets, burgers etc. 5 stars definitely!!

08/2019- Update they called us in to try the new menu and new management. Definitely would recommend it now and they made massive improvements on their food. Doesn’t taste like it’s been microwaved anymore The worst Mexican or even food place in Leicester. The service was appalling for take aways. The lady serving with the full fringe and glasses was rude and sarcastic. They didn’t even have cutlery for take away. Gave me a box with no bag and I had to ask for napkins. When I did she looked confused. Now the food. I was served slop. It was supposed to be a naked burrito. There was no lettuce, peppers, sour cream, salsa. Just mushroom rice with a few avocado chunks and some sparse beans. The food was grey and brown in colour which is the total opposite of Mexican food as it’s colourful and actually delicious. I took two bites and had to chuck it away as it made me physically sick! I don’t think they have a clue on how to make Mexican food. Plan burrito or mission burrito in Leicester are a million times better than this place. And I only went to it as the other two were shut. I will never make that mistake again. Biggest waste of £6.25 ever.

I had a good meal here with some of my friends. As a teetotaler, I liked the range of mocktails on offer and would recommend the horchata. I ate 2 small plates, a seabass ceviché and Puerto Rican fried chicken, plus a side of sweet potato fries which were all tasty. I'd definitely recommend the ceviché and fries. The service was generally good, though it was a little slow when we wanted to pay the bill. 2 of my friends are vegan, and they enjoyed their meal.

Best mexican resturant ive EVER been, I used to be a bar manager of a mexican down south, but this was unbelievable. Had large house nachos; they were homemade, plenty of salsa, guac and tasty sour cream. Portion size was unreal. Quesadilla with mole chicken, tasted incredilble. Their home made spicy sauce was also great. Service from Angel was up there with thr best customer service i have received. Can not wait to return.

My visit to the Bodega was fairly pleasant. It is located in a small courtyard, surrounded by other restaurants of a similar style. It is stylish and stands out as a Mexican diner. On entry I was shown to my seat, asked if I had been to the restaurant before, and shown my way around the menus. I only needed a quick stop for lunch, so was offered the lunch meal deal. The offerings were more than adequate, even allowing for mocktails to be served as part of the deal. I settled on a pork quesadilla and a hummingbird mocktail. My food came before the drinks, and this was explained as being due to the new bar staff member who was not used to producing the mocktails. As compensation, we were offered a free Pepsi, which I felt more than adequate and if anything even unnecessary. The polite young man who served us was welcoming, informative with the menus. The food was nothing spectacular, but filled a whole to a standard that was expected. If you are looking for a quick in and out meal, wanting cheap Mexican food and a friendly service then Bodega is the place to go; just don't think you're entering the most authentic Mexican bar.

Stopped off at Bodega Cantina for some cocktails and luckily enough it was happy hour meaning we got 2 cocktails for £8 which is pretty good value considering they are normally £6.50 each. Highly recommend the Passionfruit Caipirinha which is both acidic and sweet. We'd not long had a large meal so we didn't order anything to eat but I did notice that they do some great deals on food.

Firstly they say their dishes are gluten free but in reality most of it isn't hence this is false advertising, also when I ordered my food came cold, except for all this I can say this is a good restaurant and I would recommend, their staff are really friendly.
