Reviews of Chai Paani
J. A.
Great Indian restaurant in the heart of Belgrade road.
Northern Indian vegetarian food with great taste. The offer Indian and Indochinese cuisine.
Food tends to be quite spicy.
Very affordable place you can have a big meal for small amounts, specially of you go with more people and share.
Ideal to go with friends and family.
V. K.
This place is true reflection of the typical Indian fast food restaurant. The service is to the point and quick. The menu has the right options for snacks for a quick bite. The staff is efficient and helpful. Overall it’s good value for money.
T. H.
Wow wow wow. This place is awesome. One of the best I have visited outside india. Superb food and drink served super quick. The menu was so amazing struggled to make a decision. This place has been voted best veggie Indian in Leicester since 2017 and it's no surprise. Wish we lived closer.
M. R.
You cannot fault this place, everything about them is superb and top-notch! The table availability, customer service, waiting time and the food, everything is at the highest level! Definitely one of the BEST restaurants in leicester!
We tried the Bhajia, masala mogo, masala dosa, dahi vada, M&M and bounty milkshake and the bhel! Excellent food! Definitely going back every time!
R. P.
Classic Desi food experience, Tasty and good portion with reasonable prices.Clean fast food type interior with reasonably quick service . Would recommend paying a visit for a quick brunch or Lunch .

This place is great reflection on Gujarati and East African Indian dishes. Food and service really good. Prices are gone up compared to the website. I ordered the Thali and Falooda as many people were ordering this around me!
L. H.
Now, I’ve ordered takeout in the past but recently I’ve eaten in….. his review is for eating in.
Let me tell you that if you order takeout it will not be as crispy or anywhere near the same experience as it would be if you eat in.
The pav bhaji is one of the best I’ve had in Leicester so far. Buttery and creamy with lots of flavour.
Also the masala dosa is incredible. I tried the cheese one which has a more classic flavour to it with potato filling and also the chilli paneer which is more of a twist and has a different flavour profile as it is more mixed.
Both were amazing, I would order the cheese one again! But make sure you eat in!
S. R. S.
Delicious indo-chinese vegetarian food! Have been numerous time and the food is always amazingly good.
Great service and warm hospitality.
Can get busy at times, but there are more seats upstairs.
L. M.
Really nice food. Very busy but quick to sort out a table for people
V. K.
Ordered Schezwan rice and paneer Manchurian. The rice had little extra vinegar and Manchurian were a little sweet. The Thali was excellent in taste and quantity. Service was fast.
s. s.
It was very busy restaurant
The staff was good
We ordered Maysoor masala dosa and Indian masala chai .
We been their specially for tea only as we heard lot about Tea . Chai came so cold and was ok can’t say it was wow as mentioned in other reviews.
Dosa was so tasty , good portions , stuffing was good , sambhar was tasty but sorry both chutneys were not actual authentic South Indian chutneys.
They used yoghurt in coconut chutney & I didn’t understand the other chutney. It was red in color but don’t know from which it was made.
S. L.
I absolutely love this place. The food is great. The service is even better. All the food arrives very quickly so if you have a little kid with you or you are in a rush - this is the place for you. My dad is disabled and uses a wheelchair. This is the only place I know where the staff/owners will rush out to help me push his wheelchair inside. It is truly amazing. Belgrave road generally is not very wheelchair friendly - this restaurant is the exception. I come here every time I visit my parents.
L.
Very busy, service was lacking. Our food was OK. There are better places locally.
A. M.
The food here is brilliant, we can't go to Leicester without visiting here! Samosa Chaat and Paneer Curry are my favourite dishes!
N. K.
Been here many many times and the food and service is always AWESOME!
S. M.
Went a while ago for a lunch meal. The food was nice everything was cooked well and presented good too.
The wait time was only roughly 15/20 minutes despite being quite busy. All the staff are very nice and friendly.
They have a great range on their menu including some classic dishes which you can't go wrong with.
M. P.
Fast service as always. Smaller portions. £7 for dosa now. Crispy bhajia were a bit dry. Chai was good.
S. C.
Great food, amazing experience. We ordered a lot of items and they all turned out really well.
Really quick service, food was served almost as soon as the order was confirmed.
Purely vegetarian menu, no trace of any meat inside the restaurant, no outside food with even a trace of meat allowed even if it's for the kids
Friendly staff
Would love to visit again when I'm in town
K. V.
Good solid food at reasonable prices … go for the tastier curry dishes.. full of flavour… rather than the sandwiches or noodles…
parking in side roads … but might have to circle around a bit during busy hours…
… only issue is older people might struggle with the stairs to the seating areas at the back…and you can’t split the bill for a large parties unless you bring cash… they’ll take one card payment only due to issuer charges I think….
But overall a good place to eat
S. H.
Wonderful, fantastic Gujarati food, especially the thali, well priced. The staff were so friendly and helpful, went above and beyond their duty in helping us find a couple of places we were looking for, not being local, we were a bit lost and the lovely gentleman wrote names and addresses down for us. Will definitely go back when next in town.
K. D. M.
Lovely Food , freshly made. I was full. Cost was good too.

If you are missing Indian food then this is the best place to go. Good quality and very delicious food. Great service too.We came all the way from Bedford to enjoy this delicious food. Very friendly and helpful staff.
G. M.
Still fast service. Portions felt smaller? Masala chips and mumbai sandwich were both great. Crispy bhajia were slightly dry.
N. P.
Food was good, quick turn around and plenty of options. Service is ok but could be better. The atmosphere is nice but always seems too crowded and music and the decor severely need upgrading.
H. L. (.
We went for a visit today and noticed the menu has been reduced meaning a lot of our favourites are no longer on the menu! I got to say I was a little bit disappointed. The chana bhatura, dosa and crispy bhajia we ordered were very nice and tasty. I'd still recommend a visit but the menu is limited now.
Y. M.
Good quality South Indian food, no surprise they've won multiple awards for their food. Very authentic taste, about as close as you can come to sampling Indian street food in the UK
G. K.
I had ordered so many time from chai pani and the food is just authentic flavour and mostly i love thali 😋and also bhel is nice too. And well maintained in safety 👏 and in hygiene. And also no complaints regarding the food, tho i placed 9 orders from here and no complaints..And the pav bhaji is also tasty..Fresh ingredients used in foods..🙂
K. B.
We ordered maisur masala Dosa - good taste and service.
Menu has no description about the ingredients which may confuse non-Indian but staff was courteous and co-operative, so that shouldn't stop you from exploring good taste.
D. A. S. S.
Good variety of veggie dishes. Very fast service and tasty food. Reasonably priced
D. K.
Food here is fantastic, service was quick and the staff are all very polite and accommodating.
Highly recommended for quality Vegetarian food.
S. A.
Good Indian food. Must try shew puri. Ambience gives you a typical Indian feel. Will visit again. Recommended 👍
K. K.
Regular lunch spot whenever we come up to Leicester and Melton Road. Excellent value and very tasty vegetarian food. Service is good and food is served relatively quick. They have a great large menu and I always look forward to eating there and trying new dishes whenever I visit.
C. N.
We went yesterday first time but did not enjoy. It was like we were rushed to eat our food. All item came together, like starters and main course. IDLI wasn't fresh so does the main course. We just like veg munchurian and fresh passion juice. Their service was quick.
M. V.
No nonsense vegetarian dining experience. Super fast service and amazing food.
B. B.
Had really fantastic day food was yummy
A. L.
Whilst passing looked over and saw a que outside.
Wondered if it will be less in 20 mins as shopping. And my luck was good. Got a table straight away. Ordered and within 7 mins received the food. The place was busy upstairs and down stairs too.
The food was amazing. Delicious and enough for 4 people. Orders Paan to bring. Not tried that yet but the price of 6 paan was more than dishes ordered.
I mean that in a positive way.
Overall wil be going again.
V. P.
Good, friendly service. Food arrived quickly and all the family enjoyed it.
A. L.
What a great vegetarian place. Busy busy busy though so book before you go.
Great tasting food. Definitely go here if you go Leicester for the day or so. I'll be going back there to try more of their menu.
Only place I've found so far that does a chilli paneer dosa!!!
H. R.
We literally stumbled into this place. We were stood outside looking at the menu, when one of the owners popped out and asked us to come inside, take a seat, look at the menu. The family took a table whilst I went to the washroom.
From the outside it looks like a little cafe, quite deceptive, it's actually two floors of seating. The upstairs has a bar area and dance floor.
The food all vegetarian much to my husband's dismay. The children and I enjoyed what we ordered thoroughly.
We had chilli fries, which was basically fries in coated in a hot chilly sauce. Quite a big portion. We also had pani puri.. the water and puri filling was delicious. Spicy, full of flavour without the heat. The paneer samosas were quite unusual but tasted delicious the sauce that came with them was equally delicious.
The Masala Dosa.. was absolutely lovely, the portion of the potato filling was quite substantial. Usually the filling is over powered with mustard seeds and curry leaves. This filling was subtle, aromatic and full of flavour. The coconut chutney where cool and fresh tasting the Sambar spicy without heat.
We enjoyed our impromptu lunch.
Chai Pani has been awarded The best vegetarian restaurant of the Midlands for the past two year.. An award I feel it wholly deserves.
L. R.
All veg restaurant. No alcohol. Nice food, good service. 20 minute wait to be seated. Didn't wait long for meal to arrive. Restaurant is busy and noisy. Sat downstairs which is same level as kitchen. Upstairs dining meant your plates were carried passed the entrance, waiting area, up the stairs and pass the toilets. Had the chaat samosa with yogurt which was very nice. And the masala chips were very tasty. Ate on plastic plates. Would recommend this restaurant.
s. g.
We used to think highly of this restaurant for authentic Indian food but this time not a good experience. Had paneer dosa but was not expecting paneer cubes in a dosa that literally seem to be deep fried in oil. May be one of those days. Hopefully, we had better experience next time but for sure we will not dare to have paneer dosa again.
A. S.
The menu have less options as compared to other. The food is okay but it’s costly as compared to standard and quality. We love vada Pav only Manchuria have too much sauce. Chai was ok not that much good.
P. P.
We had the Mumbai sandwich at chai pani
It was just sour tomato and potato’s mash. Mumbai sandwich is usually with capsicum cucumber onions and tomatoes with lots of cheese. But this Mumbai sandwich there was nothing apart from tomato and potato mash. When ask the employee she informed Mumbai sandwich always sour. It doesn’t seems chaipani is aware how Mumbai sandwich it’s mad.
S. F. v. M.
Absolutely Amazing!! The Food is Delicious and the Staff are Friendly and Extremely Professional and Very Helpful. 10 Stars for the Food!!
K. R.
Everything is good overall the vada pau and panner butter masala are my favorites.
Improvements: Remove the naan off the menu please as it's ready made not appetising.
S. C.
I've had not been here in a while but it was as I remembered. The food is always tasty and cooked well. The food comes really quickly but seems freshly cooked. The staff are friendly and attentive. The place is normally busy, but we usually don't have to wait for a table.
C. S.
Was good lots of Indians in here so must be a good place to check out and I did good for veg food
l. k.
Just in for a quick snack with friends lovely food. Good service. What's not to like. 🍲
S. O. B. K.
Food and customer service was really good!
(They really need a toilet downstairs and provisions for mothers with buggy and for disabled).
V. P.
Lovely food. Sitting areas standard and cramped. Good customer service.
N. N.
Food is amazing, full of flavours, has alot of choices on the menu, the pani puri is the best.
P.
Super fast service, great food and good customer service. Our go to place. Just don’t expect full on restaurants style full dine in experience.
H. F.
Con : The food isn't good compared to the price point, the bhel puri only had puffed rice and nothing else with some sauces. The dahi puri was alryt but the gobi manchurian wasn't crispy and lacked salt and enough seasoning. Wouldn't recommend
Pro : service was fast
N. S.
Excellent and friendly service, with great food to match, with a Gujarati flavour. Has return value.
I. C.
Trust me If your vegetarian try this place.
Even if your not you won't miss the meat. It is certainly the Indian restaurant I've been too. Have been going here for nearly ten years and travel from Peterborough
T. U.
Good tasting and reasonably priced vegetarian food.
R. P.
An Indian restaurant...suitable for vegetarian....yummy...delicious..
D. P.
Had to try out this restaurant after hearing it was ranked best Indian restaurant in Leicester. They did not disappoint! I'd recommend the chilli mushrooms and the crispy aubergine, they were DELICIOUS!
N. N.
It's very tasty & reasonable restaurant, staff service is very quick well done.
R. R.
Went for lunch today, not gonna lie the service was really good. All the employees are being very polite and friendly. The food was another plus point, it was really tasty also it was served very quickly. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes to eat veg.
A. D.
I was really looking forward to my meal but it wasn't what I expected it to be. I went on Diwali day hence giving it a benefit of doubt and giving it a four star. The food was not tasty but service was quick.Only thing I enjoyed was the paani puri.
S. M.
I visited Chaai pani with family and I loved the place. Food is amazing and service is also really good. Authentic Indian food at pocket friendly places
L. F.
Been here thrice over the past year, no frills, very busy and good quality Gujju food. Recommend the thali.
f.
Ordered the chana bhature on Uber eats and it was so so tasty! Best one I’ve had. Very fast getting it delivered to me as well
J. R.
Chat items and Curries were good but Nan bread was average!
A. M.
Super authentic Gujarati and South Indian cuisine. Would definitely go again
M. A.
Great food at great prices had the paani puri with Samosa chat. Would highly recommend this place if your in or around the area well worth it. Great service team very helpful and friendly. They have many awards not surprised cause the food is amazing
A. A.
Amazing food and service. Let me start of by saying the food was delicious, its one of best vegetarian restaurants in Leicester. The food came with all things I specified and the staffs was very friendly and helpful. Their care for customer was really good and kind. Definitely I would come again.
J. C.
Very popular Indian restaurant and clearly good given the number of people eating there who cook the same food at home! The place was rammed. We had a cheese masala dosa and chilli panner. Both were simply presented but very tasty. I would have preferred more chilli and less colour though. Prices are very reasonable. One suggestion...could the tables be slightly more generously spaced. While Indians are used to being crushed together it can be daunting. The restaurant also becomes very noisy. All in all I will go back.
k. p.
Massive place and gets very busy, service was very rushed.
The food was good and generous, and cheap, 6 people ate and drank for £60
S. G.
Family of 8 went today for the first time and we had all enjoyed the food. Best chole & bhatura I’ve had, very soft and fresh and not oily at all, so was crispy bhajiya 😋 none of the food was spicy or oily. Good service with friendly staff.
Definitely will be going again.
N. C.
Fantastic food speak some gujarati to make friends manager a nice guy love the dosa's and pani puri
J. P.
Sitting in the restaurant whilst writing this review. This place never fails to provide the best tasty veg food. We travel from Derby to eat here and no reason to come to Leicester apart from eating in this fab restaurant. Bellies full we are off home. Thank you once again Chai Paani
K. P.
Really was a nice quick and easy meal/snacks. We had a range of food and all were really tasty. Recommend the Gobi Manchurian. Only negative is the music can sometimes too loud.
M. M. (.
Service was great starts were nice mains were good sambar was sweet which was a downer.
O. K.
Travelled up from Kent. Visited here for the first time. Family of 5. Service was brilliant and quick. The food......wow. was super tasty and fresh. The best veggie restaurant I have visited. Must try.
s. s.
Amazing food!! I’m not Vegetarian, but the food here is delicious 😋
N. P.
Still Excellent. Well made good always very busy but now have upstairs seating area.
B. A.
Great food, can’t recommend enough!
R. M.
Just had an amazing food time at Chai Paani today with my family, could not have been better in my opinion, everything was perfect, proper indian street food in a restaurant setting just the way I like it. Excellent customer service, waiter and fast service was too good to be true even the dessert of day which was Gajar Halwa with ice cream on top was beautifully served and tasted amazing!!! You guys have truly made my day today, many thanks and keep it up!
H. P.
Best vegetarian food in Leicester best service and all round experience
T. S.
Good quality food some of the dishes was ok. Dahi puri was brilliant definitely go back for dahi puri
V. G.
Great vegetarian food at good price
V. P.
We were in Leicester and at lunch time we went to Chaipaani restaurant. The service was good and quick . The food we order was freshly made and delivered on our table . I ordered Chana-Bhatura , if they give some lemon slice and green chilli with it than better. Otherwise the food was ok , very attentive.
A. J.
First chaat and pau bhaji in Leicester and not disappointed. Special bhel was delicious really tasty lots of green chutney crunchy sev mountain of bhel with crackling puffed rice great value for money..pau bhaji delicious came with 2 buttered rolls and chopped onions flavourful not too spicy..the Masala dosa was wonderful!! Crispy dosa delivered by the chef which was a nice touch and literally stuffed with potato red chutney was really good. Flooda could have been cooler was a bit warm but the ice cream tasted homemade..all in all great value and portions already want to go back!
N.
Delicious food. Had ordered indian mogo and potatoes bhagias. Very crispy and tasty. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. At times it's difficult to get a table.
M.
I had Butter Masala Dossa. Please improve on Green coconut Chutney.
M.
Made 2 visits here. Service is really good the waiters are very attentive, a well organised place got seats straight away.
1st visit we had bhel puri's, dhai somosa chart, mushroom manchurian, schezwan noodles, food & service was bang on. This is a vegetarian restaraunt, I was surprised to be full and still loads of food left.
Second visit tried some dhai chaat, veg munchurian, chilli paneer, and I think bombay sandwich. This visit was good but the food was more average this time. Service top notch. Even tho the second visit wasn't as tasty can't expect with such a large menu every dish to be to one's liking. It was still good enough, we ate most of the food and had a good time. I would definetly go back with family again or friends and above all the prices are fantastic. Both times I spent around £30 each visit. Mushroom manchuria n I would recommend I was very surprised I liked it, there street food stuff is really good aswell like chaats etc 😀 thumbs up from me
J. M.
Chai paani is my go to restaurant! Its fresh, tasty and always provides high standard service! The staff are really friendly & i would highly recommend to visit here! Golden mile would not be the same without this restaurant so thank you!! 🙌🏽
R. P.
Nice place to enjoy authentic Indian food. Lots of choice and staff are good and friendly. Very cheap too - a lot of food for your money!
N. S.
Loved it!!! Amazing food, fantastic service. Proper traditional Indian food. If you having craving for Indian food then do visit here. Price is very genuine. Also, very nice soothing music. Will visit again driving 60 miles. Worth for foodies.
D. W.
Triple A. Amazingly friendly staff, Amazingly fast service, Amazingly cheap and to top it all, the food is superb. Good quantites (two of us couldnt complete a starter and main course and took some home), great presentation and awesome taste. Not too much heat but enough to notice it. Cannot recomment this place enough.
A. A.
I had a great time eating delicious food in Chai Panni such a warm welcome. The service was great as the staff were very friendly. The food was fantastic as I heard from others. The atmosphere was amazing and definitely going back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to eat.
B. P.
Very quick service and food nice and hot
D. S.
Food quality was okay. Mumbai sandwich isn't as good as it was. Paneer tikka curry was nice and spicy. It can have a cramped feeling upstairs, service was attentive. It's a shame they offer water in plastic disposables cups in this day and age. This really should be changed
s. y.
Nice bhel and dahi puri bit , surprisingly, paneer tikka masala was sweet..
Rose faluda was very average
A. B.
Beautiful eatery serving delectable, mouth-watering Indian dishes which when consumed remind one of the sub-continent. You definitely feel at home, I mean your ancestral home.
d. f. a.
Honestly i am going there from 5 years and always is amazing food with no time waiting once you are in. I am very happy going there and feeling the family atmosphere. If the neighbours was having same quality wasn’t that much lies in some if reviews which i felt sad reading them . 😉 …
D. P.
Awesome Indian veg food. Staff very polite and often ask how we are and how the food is. Not all staff are fully English speaking bit that does add authenticity!
R. S.
Best chaat around, can't go wrong with the daily puri and masala fries but likely to be disappointed of you have the chai
S. J.
Well what can u say, took my mum out for a meal and she cant eat food with even a tiniest bit of chilli powder, anyway i told the waiter this and the paneer masala dosa she ordered came with no chilli or garam masala what so ever, she was so worried it'll arrive to spicy for her to eat but her meal was very much enjoyed and i will most definitely be bringing her back again. Thank yoy so much for a wonder meal.
S. K.
Fantastic service. Highly recommended for all functions.
H. P.
Went on Sunday at 2pm, once food was ordered it took about less than 10 minutes to arrive. Food was great, a nice selection too from the menu. Can't really fault it
A. R.
Delicious food. Wide variety of vegetarian food. Food was served to our table in less than five minutes.
L. P.
Had the most delicious take away from here. The flavours were so good and great textures. Portion sizes huge too. Will definitely be coming back here again.
a.
incredible food and really well priced, enjoyed and will be returning
E. P.
Tje food is delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We travelled to Leicester and was not aware of the area. The gentleman on the till took time off his place and came out to guide to destination where we would get we needed. Extremely grateful for the kind gesture. 🙏 …
M. K.
Great quality food, fast service, clean environment, good selection of food and great value for money. We find their prices are great, and they are transparent with their bill. The owner is very friendly and we really enjoy the food.
M. D. (.
The menu is smaller compared to a few years ago, but the selection they have is consistently delicious. If you savour the taste of India, try this stop on the Golden Mile
J. P.
Delicious Indian vegetarian, nice presentation.
Fast friendly service.. NO table reservation...be prepared to wait for a table...they will queue you.
No wheelchair açcess.
F. K. P.
Tried their Thalli, Butter Masala Dhosa and Mango Faluda thro Deliveroo. Their Thalli was something full of flavors and i would love to try again. Mango Faluda felt like a cursed child that should not have existed. Should have gone with the normal Rose Faluda.
H. M.
Tastey food at reasonable prices and fast service
K. K.
Still my favourite place for a quick snack, or a place to take guests for lunch. They've really improved on the food. Its no longer as greasy as it once used to be. Try their Falafal wrap!
R. T.
Absolutely amazing food. Best place to visit for Indian street and fast food
J. V.
Delicious food at inexpensive prices.
D. G.
Busy restaurant, food was good, but not the healthiest menus. The restaurant could have a better vibe especially upstairs. The Masala Chai was awful, I would not recommend this!
K. V.
Amazing food with decent size portions and quick service. Staff are very friendly and there are a variety of different dishes from around the world to eat, and the traditional Indian drinks that are served are second to none
B. V.
Food was nice and chilled environment.
B. P.
Lovely Indo-chineese food - deffo recommend!
B. K.
Delicious food. Good price and good service. The owner was very helpful in helping us to store our bikes as we had forgotten to bring our bike locks.
V. P.
Standard food really. Nothing to shout out loud about. Plenty of better places on the Golden Mile and around Leicester.
l. b.
Busy, but promote service and generous portions.
k.
Great food, good value. But don't expect a nice quite meal... very noisy and loud every time I've been there, but guess the lovely food makes up for it.
I. A. I.
The food was delicious and service incredibly fast. There was options for my 2 year old and 5 year old and both loved the food. Didn't have to wait for a table despite their being 7 of us. No reservation made. Although I'd suggest booking a table as we went at an off peak time. Overall amazing and worth every penny!
R. T.
Food is amazing and delicious. Service is very good.
S. S.
So quickly they created a screen to separate us from others, it was great. Service is really quick and good. Its 4 star instead of 5 as when serving, I have seen their fingers almost touching food while holding the plates. They should instead serve in a tray.
k. d.
Really good food. Excellent variety and great value. Busy place for a Monday but food came in good time. Shame they ran out of cane juice.
Will revisit
C. A.
Food was lovely. Was visiting from Birmingham with friends shopping.
S. M.
Food was fine, service could have been better. Although outside seating available tables were very close and this eating establishment is not abiding the rules. As they have toilet facilities but these were not available to anyone eating here. Which is illegal. As all eating places need to have their toilets open even during this pandemic. Would not recommend this place to anyone else and the owner should reconsider this as it is breaking the law.Was advised by a member of the staff that the toilets were closed. So where are supposed to go on a shopping mile.
N. P.
Excellent veggie food, great prices, food comes out right away and staff are very friendly and helpful.
S. M.
Love this place and we have been here a number of times as we stop over in the area. simply lovely vegetarian food,
A. I.
Lovely rava idlies and sambar.
J. A.
Delicious desi food a must visit place only 4 stars due to amount of Chutney and daal provided with dhosa were very less
I. M.
Great Indian vegetarian food served in East African style!! A good variety of snacks and curries. My advice is to order several snack plates in a tapas style and mix and match with your friends. Decent value and really good service. This place does get busy so you may have to wait for your table but it's well worth it
N. A.
Chinese Chili Mogo and Paneer Sizzler were very nice!
N. P.
Amazing as always.... just not keen on the noodles they are now using. Used to be the thinner noodles before which was much much nicer. But food overall is ace
Y. M.
You haven't been to Leicester if you don't go here at least once. Food is quick and awesome. Love it.

The best Indian food in Leicester! An amazing selection of vegetarian dishes, tastes amazing every time! Special favourites are the MASALA DOSA, BHAJIYA & CHILLI PANEER.. just wow
R. S.
Absolutely loved this place. If you are craving for some authentic North Indian Chaats then this place is a must visit. We had chaat, Dosa and Sugarcane Juice. Everything was good! Service was too good, everything came quickly. Unfortunately I missed to click pictures.
C. G.
Very good food. Prompt and friendly service. Dosa excellent
S. G.
We've eaten here many times and always enjoy the food in this bustling cafe. They have won annual awards for vegetarian food and they always get our vote! Staff all very friendly and overall a nice atmosphere. Very busy at weekends, but they'll always find you a table if they can.
G. C.
Very nice food, I would definitely go again. However I had to ask for a drink several times for it to come (I expect it was because Friday Nights are busy for them) and toilets aren't particularly nice in terms of decor but are clean so are safe to use. I visited here for a work buffet, the food is far better than your average vegetarian food. Thank you Chai Paani
a. s.
Authentic indian taste and paneer masala dosa sambhar, chana bhatura was too good, price also reasonable, must visit whenever visiting this city
Y. K.
Quick service, tasty food priced appropriately
P. P.
Highly recommended. Awesome taste. All in one Indians restaurant.
A. P.
Not so good food service needs improvement
N. D.
Jb yes it is a good place to dine . I do not eat onions and I always have problems else where but Chai Pani were very acommdating to my request and made me my choice of food onion free. They were very gracious . I recommend you go there.
P. K.
Food was just ok but very busy place south indian was good
R. J.
Clean friendly and fanatic food even better value, staff are attentive and appreciate the fact they came to double check an already spicy dish's schzewan noodles if I wanted it as mentioned Extra spicy which I did and it was wonderful it is a little hurried inside interns of when you finish they want you out but that is because of the turnaround deffinetly going to be going back again Dhabeli was fresh Masala tea exactly how it is supposed to be like India, faluda amazing bhel tasty Manchurian paneer scrumptious and all vegetarian
N. D.
It is Okay kind of restaurant. Food was not fresh. It was like packed food.
R. P.
Indian food done well, quickly made and efficient service.
A. R.
A bit over hyped - slightly above average prices for what is a fast turnover Indian cafe with a snack based menu.
I. C.
Amazingly good food, wide selection of dishes. Everything our party had was excellent
P. A.
One of the best Indian lacto-vegetarian restaurants in Leicester. Staff are amazing. There is food from all over the world that tastes amazing. There is upstairs and downstairs dining. It is wheelchair accessible mainly, but there are a few steps depending on where there are seats available. The menu has a lot of things on it and portion sizes are big. Their food is amazing. Staff are very good and polite and help with all request the best that they can. There is tea and coffee. They also sell ice cream.
M. T.
Good food. We had chaat, uttapan, chole bhature and doss. All good👍 …
T.
Food was okay, prices average, service okay as well. Overall a mediocre experience.

Great place to eat Vegetarian Food, Our 1st visit we travelled from Manchester and was worth it, it is the finest vegetarian food we have eaten plenty of choices, polite staff very helpfull as well . They go extra mile for your needs, we have been back for family birthday with 40 guests. They put up banners and even played a birthday song as they brought a birthday cake, they made my Mother's 80th Birthday as a wonderful surprise for her.
I would highly recommend this restaurant .
A. t.
Visited Chai Panni today and ordered variety of food-amazing service and great atmosphere ! The mix sizzler is a must ! Definitely try it :)
A. C.
Deliciously authentic Indian cuisine. The turnaround time from ordering to having the food in front of you is extremely quick despite the fact that it was a Saturday and the restaurant was heaving with customers.
Went with a party of 4, left very satisified. The food was fresh, hot and full of wonderful flavours. The paneer sizzler was absolutely divine.
The only reason I've given it a 4 and not a 5 was because it was so incredibly overcrowded and difficult to navigate through to your table. The music was also obnoxiously loud and the songs weren't the best. (Indian techno lol).
Lovely customer service, would definitely go again.
A. P.
Great service, food came very quickly
S. K.
A busy restaurant on two floors. Wide choice of food. We ordered a selection of dishes. We did not have to wait long to be served. Friendly and helpful staff. Good chatty atmosphere.
J. K.
They create a big scene to separate you from your friends due to covid 19. The lady at the front door took us upstairs to show the table and we saw our family friend there. I was more than 2 metre away from my friends table but the lady started to explain the covid 19 rules. She said she will keep an eye on us if mine or my friends kids go to each other's table. We told her that we are responsible people and would not break the law anyway but she could not understand. She was really rude and there was no reason to treat the customers like this. She ruined the day and did not enjoy the food because of her behaviour. Bad experience.
M. E.
excellent good value tasty food and excellent service as well.
K. B.
Amazing service, amazing food 👌🏼 …
T. S.
Great service, great choices and great taste. We come here on our special occasions and have never been let down. Highly recommend for authentic taste. We have tried North Indian, South Indian and Mexican cuisines so far.
D. R.
Food is good. We had been there three times in last 3 months. All three times, we had different taste not sure if chefs are getting changed regularly. Reason for 1 less star is because of last visit when we ordered Dosa, we didn't like taste of it and had to waste half of it. We also ordered Chole Bhatura n Bhatura was very quite thick which my wife didn't quite liked it. We expect it to be better when we visit next time!
H. S.
Quick service but didn't thought it was fresh. We order 4 different dishes and within 5 mins all were on our table. Seems like they have popular dished prepared ready to be served. Also there is a sign that only cash. But then if you bill is over £20 you can pay by card and no mention of that. Personally thought for the quality of stuff it wasn't upto the standard it used to.
G. P.
Not a bad place for some quick snacky food.
A bit outdated decor needs a spring clean
R. M.
Great value for money, staff are always polite and the food is always to a great standard. I have always had a fast and efficient service. The variety includes indo Chinese, bit of Italian, southern Indian dosas etc. You can always finish off with delicious ice cream available at the counter. It is a cash only place so worth barring that in mind.
B. Y.
Bit like eating in a school canteen, but it’s fairly cheap and everything tastes good. It’s filling and lots of options.
Gets super busy though and noisy, so hard to hear at times.
P. G.
Amazing food, great service amazing value for money 11 out of 10
N. R.
Delicious food. Service was very quick.
H. W.
We ordered masala chips, but we're given amble chips, and when asked manager insisted it was masala chips.we didn't argue n walked away from abrupt mannerisms.
L. M.
Did a take away of various vegetarian starters all were delicious and quick service nicely packaged only qualm was all lacked the last finishing ingredient the fresh coriander on top of the food
🤔Reasonably priced clean and covid observing resturant.Courteous staff and so will be returning to try other dishes.
k. k.
V.nice menu and testy food..without onion garlic food is awesome as well
Yummmm. :)
M. Y. B.
My family had different dosas and they were very tasty. The service was good and fast.
C. P.
Tried Punjabi food but not worth neither I would recommend. Chaat and fast food was Okey during my previous visit.
C. L.
It's a good restaurant.and it's vegetarian restaurant.the prices are reasonable and food are great.strongly recommend
H. L.
Great place & staff was brilliant.
Thank you for an excellent service.
HL Gas Heating and plumbing
A. K.
Good for a quick snack. You will get the feel of India here.
S. R.
Good selection of Indo Chinese food. Also some Mexican options and burgets/wraps/toasties. Dosas were nice and good size. Noodles were tasty. We had to wait a while for our party of 8 to be seated as it was a busy lunchtime but once we had ordered they were Very quick to bring out the food. Desserts and drinks are pricey compared to the rest of their menu but still ok. We had sundaes for dessert but there's also the option of waffles and crepes.
Note there's no baby changing facilities.
Also the tables are quite tight when it's full.
M. P.
Good place... Seems always busy which is a good indication. Good Service. Food looks and tastes great. Very reasonably priced too. All VEG too.
P.
This was my first fully veggie only place, was not to sure as i like my meat. I was totally amazed how wonderful and so flavourful the food was. I was totally stuffed and had a great time. I recommend you book first as this place can get packed on all their floors in a blink of the eye.
Again great food fantastic service from start to end, so if you're in mood for nice veggie for a change i defo recommend chaii paani as many players are full
S. S.
I order the same thing every time, mix sizzler, and it's the best take out dish I've ever had. Spicey with lots of flavour. Pure vegetarian food of course. They do great paratha's too (plain and aloo)!
A. S.
liked the whole ambience just as noisy as India lol. Great food and quick service.
I. S.
Great cheap and cheerful restaurant offering traditional street food snacks from Gujarat and South India plus a range of Indo- Chinese and even Italian dishes. It's busy at the main meal times but full marks to the staff for speed of service and generally good level of efficiency meaning you won't wait long to be seated and food arrives very soon after ordering.
I tried the paneer spring rolls and the Chai Paani special bhel. Also threw in in a masala dosa as that is the standard dish to judge a place by. Despite the high speed this was all served, it was definitely all freshly cooked. All dishes were tasty and well spiced for flavour not heat. Dosa was lovely and crisp and there is a lot of potato filling compared to many places. This is quite filling. Special bhel was just as tasty and really good size portion. Not exactly sure of all the ingredients as there seem to be so many varietions of these dishes, but this one is not hot and isn't dominated by onion or coriander. Nice and refreshing.
Atmosphere is busy and turnover is quick. Some people might find it a little bit cramped and hectic but it is very like being in India where places like this really are busy.
T. W.
Excellent for casual vegetarian dining, with a great choice of authentic indian dishes as well as mexican and italian-style food. I have visited India twice, and this is the most authentic Indian food I've had in the UK. Still, many items on the menu were unfamiliar so the very friendly and welcoming staff helped explain the menu options and select a great meal. I'm a confirmed carnivore (sorry), but this was absolutely delicious and I will return. Highly recommended.
R. P.
Great tasting food. Hot and freshly prepared with fast service and reasonably priced. Love coming here.
R. M.
Lovely food not too pricey and quick service. Either eat in or takeaway. Highly rated
M. E.
Good food. Ec
Excellent chilli chips. Received lots of awards for the curries. Its a bit utilitarian and basic i wouldn't go there for a nice evening meal for a night out. But i loved the food
Z. P.
Very nice chai but samosa chats not like my taste .its OK.not bad .
T. A.
Some dishes are okay but some dont have much flavour at all. We ordered 8 dishes but only enjoyed 3. Onions are raw in the dish. One thing we found very awkward, disrespectful and rude was that it was 9.15pm and last orders are supposed to be in by 9.30 yet the waiters and kitchen staff were in their coats ready to leave stood around our table just watching us like they were hinting for us to leave and passing remarks between each other. Never seen this kind of behaviour before and felt very awkward. At the end, we got the remaining dish packed and we left the restaurant. Spoilt the evening out and will definitely not be revisiting!
s. m.
Chai Paani is one of the better Indian restaurants in Leicester. The staff is very very good and the service is exceptional! The food is good but I could find better options. Overall a very good package!
J. D. C.
Wow what a great find. Really tasty fresh food with very quick service. Very generous portion sizes too. Very reasonable prices. Will definitely be returning.
S. S.
Good service, friendly staff, good priced, fast service, hot food, 7/10 taste-wise..good family experience. However not happy my parents had to walk up 2 flight of stairs to get to toilets...
S. B.
Nice place, great food and good ambience. Spacious seating and prompt service. Highly recommended. Only downside to note, no baby changing facilities available inside the premises although toilets are available for customers.
A. D.
Falooda was amazing.. Overall good experience.
Will visit again
S. N.
Awesome food. I was disappointed that they charged me for extra Pani for my Pani Puri.
S. M.
Excellent, Authentic with delicious Indian Taste!
S. K.
First visit to Chai Paani and I must say, delicious food 😋 and I can't wait to visit again! …
T. R.
Absolutely great vegetarian food. Good location. Very busy and famous. Loved the food. Very good price. Good customer service. Also serve Mexican and Indo- Chinese. Loved it, would love to go back.
N. M.
Amazing food most definetly recommend it if you are in leicester 10/10
S. A.
We ordered masala dosas, pani puri and manchurian. Dosas were lovely and very filling. As I do not eat a lot I founnd the the portion of manchurian would have filled me up on its own. Pani puri was disappointing. Outside was too thick and hard which straight away made me compare it with better pani puris that we have eaten. We also ordered a jacket potato for the little one. She ate a bit as it was a big portion. We ended up spending £24. I guess it was not a bad value for money. Service was okay. Nothing too special, nothing too inappropriate. And it was quite a busy lunch time. It felt quite packed and the tables were so close by that hubby had to move his chair when people behind our table wanted to pass.
E. B.
Love the food... Staff are always so nice. When it's busy it can be a bit difficult to get a space but the turn around it fast... Just love it!
L. H.
As a vegetarian who sorely misses crispy friend shredded beef from the local Chinese takeaway I can now safely satisfy that craving by coming to Chai Paani and having their indo-chinese dish of deep friend chilli aubergine. Believe it or not I could hardly tell it was vegetarian!
J. R.
Good quality food. Very fast service. Courteous and friendly staff. Very good value for money. Only downside is that they take only cash. We tried both chinese and Indian food. Both were good. Good portion size. Batura was excellent. Felt so fresh. Loved it. Will comeback.
S. C.
Very quick service for food...when my pav bhaji arrived it felt been re-heated & I would prefers more heat hot. But we visited on may bank holiday been hot weather it was acceptable. Had faluda was good. Mrs had indo-chinese and she was happy with it too.
Only criticism is cash only (or was when we was there)
J. G.
Love Chai Paani. Always come here to eat when we are in Leicester.
Z. F.
Authentic Indian street food.
Like all their preparations. The chole bhature tasted almost like haldiram.
V.
We eat here a lot! Very quick service, tasty food with excellent portion sizes. Could not ask for more. Highly recommended!
Y. D.
Delicious food, especially considering I'm a meat eater and this is a pure vege restaurant! Definitely visiting again.
T. B.
The food was amazing! And food arrives very fast hot and fresh! Been going here for years and they never disappoint. 5 stars!
J. P.
Good food
N. N.
Delicious food. The Tali had a good variety of dishes and the prices were reasonable. The Mushroom Manchurian was divine!
A. M.
The food is alright, possibly even good (considering it's vegetarian). The service, on the other hand, was poor. For a large party (8+ people) the napkins and cutlery were left on a plate on the table in a serve-yourself fashion. Not impressed.
S. S.
No words to say
S. D.
Always good food but takeaway is not as nice as eating in. Would be nice to have proper cutlery and glasses too. Flavours are second to none!
F. K.
The food is always nice here and it was packed in there this time but service was good.
S. D.
Chili paneer ordered on take away mild very good taste thanks. Crispy bhajjia terrible! undercooked.(cheevad) Never order again. Hakka noodles were average. Were they reheated? Order made by phone evening of 9th nov 19. Definitely needs improvement.
H. L.
Most other times ive been, the foods always been good and service also good. I went last weekend and the food was not the same. It looked a mess, as if it had just been dumped on the plates. The atmosphere was horrible too. Very noisy and messy.
E. P.
Great for vegetarian indo-chineese and Indian street food, the Gobi Manchurian and chilli paneer is exceptional! Good portions and decent prices for food items. Drinks are a bit overpriced but I guess that's where they make the money.
D. U.
Thali is good here n Paanipoori...
Melton Road
f. k.
Always had a good service here, sometimes you have to wait but that depends on the time of day and how busy they are but it’s ok as the food is delicious. The ingredients and recipe they use is like home made which is why I go back unlike your typical restaurants that use pre-made fillings etc which have the average taste of eating out. Would recommend chai pani every time.
R. L.
Nothing special but not bad
N. P.
Nice tapas style Indian food. Quick service and good prices for a basic restaurant. A bit tight in spacing and staff seem keen to get you in and out as quick as possible
L. C.
Love this place! Been here multiple times and love the lunch menu, beautiful Indian dishes for a great price! Cash only though when I’ve been in which is why it’s only 4 stars
C. M.
Service is sometimes hit and miss but the food is delicious and arrives super fast. The prices are very reasonable too. Great place for a snack or casual meal, but be warned it does get busy and they take cash only.
K. C. W.
Excellent authentic Indian food. Quick service, friendly staff and reasonably priced. Parking available just across the road at the Golden mile.
S. R.
Amazing food.. everytime i visit this place.. i get to taste delicious food. The service is very good and no delays..
H. K.
Good food, bustling atmosphere, relatively cheap! The sauce with the dosa was nice, and made very well. Great for a quick bite to eat for a break from the wedding shopping 👌 …
z. s.
Been here twice, just incredible, fast service and delicious food. Incredibly fair priced as well, all I'm going to say is dont get carried away as food is deelliciouss .
Definetly worth a visit if you are visiting Leicester.
S. V.
Really Great Hot Fresh Food & Good Prices. Prompt & Friendly Service. The Best Paneer Bhurji. Recommended.
R. H.
The prices should be reduced, otherwise good service and good variety.
M. G.
The is always great 🙂 here 🤗.
It's been few months since my last visit, sadly they are now using plastic containers instead of foil containers.
Very disappointing☹️. …
D. (.
Was great for a full vegetarian experience! Food arrived quick and was delicious. But get your tables quick when it opens on weekends, it's very popular!
K. P.
Best place for fast Street food that's taste delicious and the price is just right! Love this place!
D. L.
Tasty and fairly cheap food. Quick service. Very cramped as though they are fitting as many people as possible in. Toilets are nasty so avoid going at all costs
A. P.
Quick fast food, really quick on order, left over food can be packed. Reasonable price. Cannot pre book table.
D. P.
Not too bad. Good for plenty of options but for specific dishes, like Dosa, you're better off going somewhere else in Leicester. Cash only payment too so beware.
M. M.
Vegi keema and spegetti was awesome
G. K.
Food is served fast and always tastes great. Reasonable prices and extensive menu. Family friendly with a good atmosphere
a. j.

We went quite late mid week and the food was excellent and service was very quick..
The staff were very pleasant and courteous..we had crispy Bhajia, cheese dosa, chilli paneer dosa and masala dosa..all were excellent...prices were also reasonable...my son who is 9 only eats at 5 hygiene rated eateries...

M. R.
Chai Paani has always been very good for us, we have been going here for years and the team have always been friendly and welcoming. Food is excellent and the speed of service is quick even when they are busy.
k. s.
Nice vegetarian food always made well regardless of how busy it is. Just wish there was a better way of paying as it's cash only and you're always waiting in a queue to pay.
P. V.
Good and tasty food. Value for money place.
J. P.
Great homely food, absolute loved chilli Gobi! The masala chips were disappointing. Service was a bit slow
O. D.
Brilliant quality and flavour for food... will definitely visit again. For large audience, it's worthwhile pre-booking as there is limited capacity.
H. M.
Great home tasting food. Love it. Really great quality and value.. been a number of times and no reason to stop.. brilliant..
R. G.
Chai panic was good. A little wait for the toasties for the girls. Food was very good. Will definitely go there again.

A. V.
4 stars only b'cz of no menu online and little too expensive.. Staffs are friendly and quite attentive.. Also it doesn't accept bank cards as a method of payment. Food is good here..
P. S.
A great restaurant is one that just makes you feel like you're not sure whether you went out or you came home and confuses you. If it can do both of those things at the same time, you're hooked.I love the food and place.
S. H.
Great tasting food and fast service with friendly staff.
S. P.
Great for authentic Indian food
