My wife and I ate here today for the first time and were not disappointed. We'd cycled here, and so we were ready for some food. The fish was cooked to order and the 2 fillets of Cod were delicious. Chips and mushy peas were also nice. For November, it was also nice to sit outside at the picnic tables they provide on the opposite side of the road. Fish and chips are not cheap these days, and I appreciate the reasons why, but also as the customer, you expect it to be spot on for the price, and it was! Well done guys 👏. We will definitely visit again.

Having used Chris’s fish and chips in Barwell since Strad took it over many many years ago, and having never written a review, finally felt compelled to having stumbled across some poor ones on google. I cannot emphasis enough how good this chip shop is. Without any question the best for many miles around. Having moved away from the Barwell area some years ago, I still travel to Chris’ for fish and chips as nowhere closer compared. The staff are all excellent, many of them are quite long standing and committed to the business, and the business is very committed to the local area. During the early stages of Covid they supplied the local area with foodstuffs that were running out in the shops, they care for the area greatly. Just a superb example of how to run this type of business, and absolutely superb food as well. Top quality and highly reccended!!

Only just started using Chris’s again after seeing Macmasters review on you tube and happy to say how good they are well tonight i went over a couple of mins walk and ordered fish couple of chips and sauces and when it was ready they said the fish was a little under weight so they’ve put a mini fish in too with the price of fish i thought that was really generous of them thanks will drfo use sgain.

fantastic chippy. me and my family have gluten intolerance. so all food ordered was GF.lot pf choice of fish and fritters. ive had no issues from here unlike other local GF chippys. portion size was great, presentation of packaging was good ( lots of paper, stickers to stop paper unravelling. batter was crispy. staff are great to. also there is a delivery option.

Quality of food here is excellent. Fish is beautiful. Meat tray awesome. Lots of gluten free options too. Only downsize is portion control is so variable it's very hard to judge how much to order. It's a bit of a lottery depending on who serves you, but always a tasty one.

One of the best places for take away in the area. The only down side is their delivery service on just eat. High minimum order and high delivery cost. Wasn't like this before, but as they won awards and got popular they got greedy. Shame. Edit: After receiving their response about having a cheaper option by using their website, I will now highly recommend using this option and ordering their quality food. As I said previous, one of the best places for take away in the area. Excellent! Now 5 stars. :)

Amazing food Amazing prices i can't believe we have only just found this chippy our daughter is ceoliac and hasn't been able to have a take away for nearly 2 years this made her sooooo happy. Unbelievable portion sizes to if I could give a higher star rating I would! Well done guys

Great chippy, that has an excellent hygiene rating and a large menu. The food is very tasty but it's not the cheapest price wise. I suppose you could say that you are paying that bit more for quality etc. It would be nice if some of the items were a little bit better price wise. Overall though, a highly recommended and well run chippy.

I Travelled 10 miles for gluten free fish and chips and Chris's Fish and Chip shop didn't disappoint. Truly delicious! Cater for food allergies consistently instead of just once a week. Nicest gluten free fish and chips I've tasted, will definitely be back.

Really disappointing, ordered haddock and chips, a burger, a battered sausage and some pieces of southern fried chicken to get an idea of what we might want to get next time from this 'award winning' chippy but we were sorely disappointed. The batter on the fish and sausage were not crispy at all. The fish batter was so soggy it stuck to the paper it was wrapped in. It only took us 8 mins to get home so this shouldn't be a factor. The burger was mediocre. The southern fried chicken was actually crispy but even the 2 out of 4 pieces on the paper had the batter stick to the paper on one side. It was also really salty. Unfortunately we won't be back any time soon, there are better chippies around.

Great chips and sausage. They also do some items gluten free and use a separate frier so suitable for those with coeliac disease. My wife was impressed with her fish and chips. Word of warning, the chip portions were huge so beware of having eyes bigger than your stomach as we did. We'll definitely be back
