Modern deco, good service but mediocre food. If only more effort was put into the taste rather than appearance of the dishes…we had the tasting menu. The second pork dish was disturbingly bad - too much spices in the black pudding which fully overtook the taste of everything else. The loin is in deep need of more time to be properly marinated. Other courses are fine but definitely not as nice as the price indicated. Would recommend if you are forced to have dinner with a friend that you secretly dislike and they’re paying

Who knew peas could taste this good! We had the 6 course vegan menu with the wine pairing and absolutely loved everything. The atmosphere, the service, the food, everything was amazing.

A great place to start my weekend. Great locally sourced produce cooked and presented in true professional North Bar style. I had the tempura prawns, with the monkfish tail to follow both were absolutely divine. The flavours left my taste buds dancing away! Of course there was no room for desert but I managed to sneak in a scrumptious sticky toffee pudding. The team and service is always exceptional. It's like you are being served in the comfort of your own home feel.

I had the vegan tasting menu accompanied by gin pairing. The pairing was really well balanced in flavour. I would say that the dishes could have had a bit more complexity ie with a crunch and other flavours. They looked and smelt incomparable to the meat dishes.

Myself and my partner came for the Tasting Menu at the weekend, myself choosing the vegan option. I have read mixed reviews so was not sure what I was expecting. But as soon as I tasted the first course, it was delicious and just got better as each course came. All the dishes was amazing and my favourite dish was the Vegetable Garden with almond mousse. My partner loved all the dishes too with him choosing pairing wines and I chose gin... which they have their own gin! My partner does not usually eat vegan food and even he said he would choose to try this option next time. Highly recommend to anyone!

Friendly staff with good service and great food, the wine was also very nice. My only complaint was that the food came out very quickly as did the wine. It would have been better for me to pace it a bit. Fantastic price for the taster menu it's only £55 which is a bargain and £70 odd with the wines. Try it out you won't be disappointed.

The vegan taster menu and regular taster menu were outstanding. Really well presented and seasoned food, lots if time and care put onto the plates and very well considered flavour combinations. I personally feel the service could have been more attentive as it's a small place and they have the time to come and pour wine and reset cutley which would have added to the overall experience.

Excellent venue, great drinks menu which is excecutedd brilliantly. My main course and desert were delicious. My reason for only scoring 3 stars was that my starter differed greatly from what was stated on the menu (possibly due to what was available). I was not informed of this when I ordered and unfortunately I did not like what it was now changed to and I would not of ordered it had I have known. This what I minor issue but what I believe was totally uncalled for was I was condicended to and asked if I liked everything that I had ordered with my main as though it was my fault I didn't enjoy what wasn't on the menu with my starter. This did ruin the experience for me although I could of just been unfortunate.

Absolutely amazing taster menu with paired wines, food was absolutely divine and the wines went so well together, it was such an opulent experience. Atmosphere, ambiance and welcome we’re all fantastic. Can completely understand why people attend again and again. After initial reservations about the cost I can honestly say at £75 this was absolute value for money. Will definitely attend again as soon as I can.

Loved the North Bar and Kitchen. The staff were welcoming and friendly from the minute we stepped through the door. A great knowledge of the many (44 I think) gins on offer and happy to take the time to impart some of that knowledge. The food was just as good as the service, a nice simple menu, cooked to perfection with some really nice touches. We'll definitely be visiting again and recommending our friends do the same. Last night the prawns were superb with a bisque to die for, best I’ve tasted with medley of spice and chilli tickling my tongue. Medley of fish perfect to look at and taste and Old Spot pork a delight, tender and comforting. The other thing we love is the local fresh vegetables another reason to eat here. The wine list is not extensive but every one seems chosen with the food in mind. The Lodi Zinfandel we drank was gorgeous. Finally thanks to warm attentive staff. Whenever we leave we think why didn’t we come back sooner? We will.

We had the vegan set taster menu. All courses were innovative, flavourful and well presented. The staff were very friendly. The mocktails were also super refreshing. It's a nice addition to Leicester having a restaurant which does a vegan 'fine dining' taster menu.

Had Sunday Lunch here today, what can I say. Wow. The food was simply sublime, the starter was amazing, I had the mushroom dish which was rich and deep and packed full of flavour. The Sirloin, literally melted in my mouth, was a very tasty piece of meat. The gravy, (my mouth is watering just thinking about it) was an intense beef gravy that didn't overpower the meal but added another flavour dimension to the whole meal. I finished with Rhubarb and Apple crumble, the fruit was as you would imagine, the crumble, however, was a rich shortbread flavour topping, crispy on the top with a comforting buttery softness that takes you back to a time where someone made that crumble that no one has ever managed to replicate. The cost in my opinion was very reasonable, the service was very good. The mixer machine syrup was out and coffee machine was not working, whilst these things normally irritate the hell out of me, the service and food was exceptional I hardly even noticed.

Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Hate the term but gastro pub, it's both where you can buy a drink and chat with friends, or have a meal, or both. Had a fantastic meal, exceptional, but including the drinks not cheap. However well worth it. Visiting family, eaten here a number of times and never been disappointed.

Staff friendly and knowledgeable about the food. The food is tasty. Next time I will stick to the fish and chips and lamb as I felt the flavours were more apparent in that compared to the herb crusted cod. All tasty though and I look forward to going back.

Been a few times and the food is still very , very good . Friendly service , barman went over the top in getting those gins right etc! Small restaurant, which is part of the attraction but unfortunately a party arrived whom had clearly had far too many pre drinks, and they were just too noisy. They should have been asked to keep the noise levels down but weren’t. There’s no fixed two or three course meal options ( on a Saturday anyway) and the prices for everything seemed to have been increased by 15-20% over the past year from when we last visited, so thought overall getting a bit expensive. No bread even offered. Cost is about £50-60 per head for three courses incl drinks. It was far easier to book than on previous visits and noticed no one came in for a second sitting at the tables whereas on previous visits they did. A sign maybe it’s just getting a bit too expensive - but will go again, but not too often!

I came to North bar and kitchen for lunch, had a nice warm welcome and what I really liked is the price on there lunch set course! I had a rump steak burger with hand cut chips and it was so juicy and really is the best burger I have had! You can tell that it is homemade , not grease with a soft toasted brioche bun 👌🏻

Never been to this restaurant before, but was invited for a friends birthday, very surprised, it's one of those places that if you don't know it's there you would easily miss it. Definitely a hidden gem and I will definitely be getting hubby to take me back. Food was amazing and soooo much gin!

Me, my hubby and another couple visited this place on good recommendations. We were not disappointed. Lovely Bistro style restaurant with cosy atmosphere. Staff were welcoming and friendly and gave excellent service all the way through the evening. As for the food. . Absolutely delicious and could not be falted. . 3 of us had 3 courses and 1 had 2 and we all chose differently. . It was all Very nicely presented and everything was cooked perfect. All four of us started with a drink and had bottle red wine with our meal and bill worked out £36 per person. Excellent value for money and will definately be returning soon to sample another delight from the menu. Highly recommended !!!

Food Was tasty but a bit pricey for what you get. Portions was very small. Without drinks we spend almost £60 for starter and main. Menu is very small - that's good from some point of view, however it was a bit boring and didn't surprise me. It should be more astonish. Because similar food you can eat in many other restaurants in Leicester. I would recommend only if that would be changed. 4 stars I give for taste and presentation of the food.

This is a little gem of a place, run by the owners themselves. There is a great ambience, with great quality food being provided at fair prices. They have a bar which a goid range of beers, wine, shorts and long drinks. Full table service. There is no dedicated parking but never had trouble getting parking on the adjacent roads.

The best resturant in leicester by a mile, the food is amazing and presentaion beautiful. We have been 5 times now usually anniversaries etc have always left feeling like its the best meal we have ever had.
