Weren't quite sure what to expect, but we were not disappointed. Pleased they mentioned when we booked the table (not that we needed to as it wasn't busy for a Thursday night) that they would be providing plastic knives and forks. We therefore took our own mental ones. Prices very reasonable. Tables well spaced out and we had the pleasure of sitting next to the TV screen which had the sea lapping in and out! Would definitely recommend 👍

Popped in for a lunch for four on fish friday. Everything was cooked to perfection with lovely hot chips. The halloumi fritter was something different and delicious! The 3 x large fish we ordered were all deliciously flaky inside with a crispy batter. All served with a smile by the fab staff! My favourite chippy!

Heard about this from my boyfriend's mate who also has coeliac disease. We gave it a try as the majority of the menu is gluten free and available daily. Competitive prices and the food was lovely. My partner had onion rings with his meal and they were huge and the batter very crispy. Just trying to find a regular excuse for going out to Rothley now!!

It's a long time since we visited the restaurant and it was a disappointment. The food wasn't the issue here. For us this is no longer a restaurant experience but rather a take away with an eat in facility. You now have to order at the counter, collect cutlery and food and drink is served on/in disposable plates and cups. Gone are preset tables, waitress service, gherkins, bread and butter and real crockery. All the fab touches that made the restaurant something really special, and worth travelling from Market Bosworth for, have sadly gone. It's a real shame. Last time we visited the restaurant was absolutely packed. This time, 7pm on a Saturday, there were only 3 tables taken.

This was our 4th visit to the restaurant and sadly wasn't no where near as good as the other 3. Mainly down to the covid measures in place that seemed a little strange in places. The food was hot, tasty and good value for money. The restaurant was clean and tidy with Internet access should you want it. Just the overall feel wasn't as good as it was before... no complimentary bread and butter, gherkins or cup of tea. No ordering at your table, now having to queue in the take away chip shop and then return to your table for it to arrive. Due to this experience I sadly think this will be our last visit

UPDATE: Under new management now so gave it another try (I know, big of me!). Has improved immeasurably; chips delicious, lovely fish, a nice pot of tea and exemplary service - V. rare these days. We ate in and service was excellent by a very professional and friendly team. My only comments to improve would be to offer an option of garden peas and to change the tomato ketchup (too vinegary)! Otherwise....highly recommended.

Amazing fish and chips! Cannot praise enough. Peoples ignorance to the current price hikes in the market is absurd. Fresh fish prices are closed to being on par with fillet steak! It is becoming a luxury treat but I believe you get what you pay for. The industry as a whole is under crisis and in survival mode at the moment. These ridiculous reviews are uncalled for. A local gem in my opinion.

Delicious, highly recommend. Our local fish&chip shop is ok but have driven a little further ever since finding this gem and it is so worth it. The kebab meat is called gyro here and you have the option of chicken or pork, both are authentic in flavour and actually taste like chicken or pork nothing like the poor quality in your standard chip shop. The portion sizes are generous too! The staff are friendly and service is quick. The attached restaurant is good if you fancy eating in.

Rang today and was overjoyed to find they deliver, decided to go for it and she said would be there by 2.15pm arrived at 10 past, piping hot and cannot fault any of it, usually fish and chips i have ordered from elsewhere has turned up squashed together in paper wrapping and the batter has gone soft and chips stuck together. These turned up in lovely solid boxes all separate and both chips and the fish were so fresh and crisp, will we order again from them, most definitely, want be massively often as for us as pensioners its a treat but great to know it wasn't a waste of money. Another thing is next time we will have the regular sizes, actually couldn't eat it all so the cats and dogs have had a lovely treat of fish 😀

Lovely fish and chips. Ate there yesterday. Great restaurant service. I can confirm that the gluten free really is 100% effective . I am super sensitive and absolutely no ill effects on the numerous occasions i have enjoyed their exceptional fresh fish, lovely delicate batter and perfectly cooked chips Even have non brewed vinegar and gluten free ketchup available. And best to request sauces and make sure the helpful staff understand if you have allergies or food sensitivities. Thanks to the team. Love the quality!

My son and I are Coeliac's. I heard about Rothley Fisheries preparing their Fish in Gluten Free batter for all customers so I had to try the food for myself. We celebrated a birthday with a takeaway from this chip shop and we're all glad we did... the food was excellent. The service on collection was great too. The staff were very helpful in making sure I was served efficiently. I was also impressed with technology they invested in with a touch screen outside the shop for taking orders....very innovative! All my family enjoyed the fish and chips. For my family that weren't Coeliac..actually thought the batter was better. Oh, you can have Gluten Free any day....perfect !! Go and try for yourself

Amazing fish and chip shop. This is probably the best fish and chips in Leicestershire. Their recent covid system is marvellous, an outside touch screen to make your order on and then they bring your order outside. Keep up the good work. Normally you can eat inside in the restaurant which is nice but of course you cant at this present time.

Best chip shop ever! Be prepared to wait as they fry in small batches which means you always, always get fresh out the fryer chips! Perfect every time. It is so worth the wait. The staff are friendly even when busy and they're always busy.. They will prepare your order exactly how you like it. Pies are yummy and the fish is amazing. Perfectly fried chips every time! I only wish their opening hours were longer. .

Absolutely amazing. Sit down in the very nice café/restaurant at the side. The best bit of fish (HUGE), unlimited chips (double fried), bread & butter, Mushy peas and sauce or gravy and a pot of tea was £13.00. I have never had such a well cooked bit of fish, very thin crispy batter with the fish flaking off after cutting.

In nipped in here a fee weeks ago (in the area and in a rush) and was blown away by the flavour and texture of the chips! I've since been weekly and they have been very consistently good. There is a great range of chippy food on offer and the flavours are fantastic. Good value for money and the staff are very friendly (especially when not involved in the rush hours on a Friday night!) Love this chippy, long may their standards remain so high. Quick tip - order the curry sauce, best tasting curry sauce around!!

The place recently got some new owners and they''ve already made an impact. The quality at this fish and chippy is (and always has been) excellent. They serve really tasty chips and I like the new fish in gluten free batter (makes the meal not too heavy unlike before). They have a good selection on the menu like Salmon, Haddock, Plaice, as well as Sausages, Fishcakes, Pies, Pasties and Burgers. All meals can come with a choice of mushy peas, curry sauce, beans or gravy. In the restaurant you get complimentary tea and bread and in the evenings free chip refills! Staff are really friendly and do a good job. V.busy on Fridays so beware, but otherwise is top place and the dining experience is lovely.

Got to be honest and say I was sceptical about the amount of great reviews on here, but only one way to find out.. Best Gyro I've had outside of Thassos 😊. Brilliant place to eat. Excellent value. Meals include lots of bread and butter and a cuppa. It is not all fish so their are meat and veggie options. Place has a nice feel with a fishing theme, air conditioning, modern toilets, friendly staff and a good selection of beer and wine. Water is available free from coolers. We found the Trivial Pursuit table cards fun to entertain ourselves checking our general knowledge waiting for our meals. Recommend booking. We always do and sometimes have struggled to get the time I wanted. If you can go early do so as it is quieter. Staff friendly and helpful. They offer you extra bread and chips free of charge if you can manage it...Great place! My mum in law loves going there for a treat. The older generation in the family will love it but grest for all. Last time we went we saw a selection of diners; a ladies group, couples, friends and a mum with kids still in their school uniform all out for an early tea. Last time we left customers were queuing about 20 deep in their take away chip shop next door (which is where food is cooked for the restaurant) a sure sign of a good chippy!

Good old fashioned fish supper in a lovely restaurant setting next door to the take away. Service is very good and the staff are friendly also the boss came to our table to make sure everything was ok which was nice . They are liscened but you can always have a cup if tea if you prefer. Lovely fish and chips, but feel royally done over to be honest. Ordered fish and chips (as a meal) with battered sausage 'on the side'...two 'meals' came out and we questioned this and we got a response of "their abit funny about this"...ok fair enough, but paying a bill of £25 for effectively fish, chips and sausage with a couple of drinks I felt a little ripped off (albeit with "bottomless chips" which I clearly wasn't interested in, nor took advantage of). Lesson learnt: order from counter next time, sit on bench opposite shop and pay a 1/3 of restaurant prices whilst watching world (and buses) go past instead of being holed up in 70's style, artex finished diner. Still doesnt stop me going back fairly often when out on the bike though haha! Hopefully new owner will take note and invest abit of dosh into diner area?

my new chipshop....im from leicester and i drive past alot of others just to come here once a week why? oil and grease doesnt drip throught the paper ...their not miserable....and food doesnt look like its sat their all day or from night before...ive been to the best in leicester and for me ....this is the best ...lovely friendly heartwarming staff food is fresh and quality, best curry sauce in a chippy by far they have different types of fish homemade fishcake gluten free say no more please go

This was our first time going there the meal was lovely but we were abit put off with a elder lady who works there she told us to sit where we didn't want to sit she was very loudly and very bossy and I'm afraid if we come again I will say something to her I'm in my sixties myself and will not be humiliated by this woman she was shouting loudly at four other people letting everyone no what she was saying to them in which case had that of been in my company I would of told her where to get off in so many words but other than that the meal was lovely
