Reviews of Saffron Street
A. P.
Right from the beginning, the service was awesome. I received a message to inform they were runningate on reservation. Then another call confirming table was ready.
At the the table plates and glasses were warm.
Very clean.
Food was spot as described on the menu. It was very well cooked.
Loved the Lamb Musallam.
Overall, excellent!
s. w.
Amazing taste, can’t wait for our next trip. Authentic Indian flavours. Such different flavours. The choice of food is endless. First of its type. Not only excellent presentation, but also mouthwatering taste. Lots of vegetarian options available as well.
F. H.
Finally a really good indian restaurant in Leicester. The food is really tasty and the service is good too.
I have managed to get a table pretty quickly so have been lucky but this restaurant is usually so busy, so consider to arrive early if you're a big group and want to go at peak times ( there are no Bookings).
R. R.
First and foremost, the food was really good. There aren't many Indian restaurants to choose from in Leicester (halal ones included) but I would say this is my favourite.
At the time of writing this review, the place is really busy but they do not take bookings. You have to turn up and they will tell you how long the wait is, you can choose to wait there or they will text you when your table is ready.
It is on the pricier side than some places but the taste and presentation was great, nothing negative worth highlighting.
G. B.
Overall good experience, well presented food and generally most dishes are tasty.
Was not to keen on mixed grill, it's not a selection you would typically expect to get when ordering one. Also on doughnut as although presented nicely was not good at all.
Place was extremely busy with long qeues outside so big credit to the staff for coping well with this difficult situation as well as providing excellent customer service.
I wish the place opened up somewhere else in town than on London road as since introduction of red route parking is no longer permitted evening/night time.

Wow that’s all we could say…….. the taste and quality of the food is absolutely amazing. We did have to wait a long while to be seated because of it being valentines day but boy it was worth the wait! Top quality!
M. A.
Very impressive, everything was tasty.
Polite, friendly service.
Little pricy maybe but overall 10/10 look forward to visiting again.

We had such a wonderful experience at Saffron Street! The service was amazing right from the moment we entered the restaurant. The servers are so kind and helpful, the interior is beautiful and the food is absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend the mixed grill & masala chips
A. U.
Breath of fresh air. From the food to the decor, everything was above par. I would recommend the Samosa and Papri Chaat and the prawns for starters and mix grill and butter chicken for mains.
T.
Lovely place. Lovely food. Helpful staff. Long wait to get a taste on the weekends
N. A.
This place is certainly popular, I believe their flagship restaurant is in London which is apparently good.
In summary there was a buzz about the place i went at about 3pm on Sunday and pretty much all the tables were full, we were lucky enough to get a table even though we hadn't booked. If highly recommend booking a table to avoid waiting for a table to become available.
The decor, vibes and seating was very good. Each table had a set of plates, cutlery and napkins.
The food in my opinion was overall average. Some dishes were amazing others not so. I also think it is overpriced. For the number of dishes I got, I could easily have got more dishes with bigger portion sizes at one of their competitors.
The samosa chaat is amazing - I would highly recommend this. The spices and textures made this a lovely and moreish.
We got a sharing thali. Whilst you do get a good selection of food in my opinion it was overpriced as I personally would've changed the dhaal and butter chicken for other curries. Also bear in mind you only get 4 quarters of naan...2 pieces plain naan and 2 pieces garlic naan. You also get a tiny bit of rice.
If you don't eat much this would be ideal for you and another.
We also got a paratha which was absolutely amazing. It was really flaky. Probably one of the best parathas I've had and would highly recommend.
I got a falooda which was very disappointing. In fact I would say don't bother with this overpriced falooda.
Overall there were hits and misses with my experience. Some dishes were great others were below standard.
I think it's definitely overpriced, not sure if they've just applied their London prices to the Leicester branch.
I think if the food was up to standard across the board I would've enjoyed it more
I've seen a lot of positives regarding customer service. My experience was definitely below par. There were lots of servers, we didn't have a dedicated server looking after us. I tried to order extra 2 parathas but the server whose attention we got acknowledged our request and nothing came. Food came out in a timely manner but it was just the Mish mash experience of different servers servicing or requests during our meal. We struggled to get the attention of servers even though there was loads on the restaurant floor.
Would I come back here? Probably not, but I'm sure others would enjoy this restaurant.

Recently visited this vibrant, busy Indian restaurant and had the pleasure of tasting the 'Shakahari Thali'. This vegetarian feast for one was absolutely incredible, a good way to sample the menu and I left with more than enough for a second meal. The price definitely matched the quality of the food and the interior and staff certainly aim to impress.
Disclosure - you may be asked to wait 45 mins to an hour for a table on a busy night, but it is definitely worth the wait!!)

6.5 out of 10
Nihari biryani & lamb chops are nice although the chops are on the small side.
The rest of the food was average the curry could have been done with more spice but was perfectly serviceable.
Service was excellent & the place was super busy. A few comments suggesting its pricey and although true they have invested in decor & plenty of staff to cater for a large capacity. Meal for 2 is going to cost you around £60 to £80. Waiting time can't really be helped they are busy & hopefully they stay busy. Couple of slight tweeks & they could be on to something great. Also milkcake was delicious!

Inevitably, this place was created to bring the hype of the London branch to Leicester. I must say I wasn't too hopeful given the demographic of people that the franchise attracts. Namely young female Muslim population who may be social media savvy.
However, I wanted to be genuine in my review.
Starters:
Samosa chaat 8/10.
Woukd recommend. I like the intensity of flavours and the various textures.
Dahi Puri 6/10.
Nothing special. Basically the same with the samosa chat in terms of flavouring but not quite as good.
Seekh Kebab 7/10:
Very meaty, quite flavoursome. Satisfying overall.
Mains (I forget their exact names):
Black mirichi chicken 4/10.
Kolkata chicken 3/10.
Neither were impressive. I expect the main curries of an Indian restaurant to be the best. We didn't finish this.
Nihari biryani 9/10:
By far the best of the lot. Tender meat and the biryani was fluffy. Perhaps if a dried plum or two were added it would be better but that's just my preference.
I also ordered the Mango Fire Mohito 7/10:
Was nice actually. Had chilli flakes and it gave it a nice kick.
Price is as London is. Not usually palatable for the Leicester natives' economical standards. Places on London Road have higher rent costs though.
I may return once more just to finish the starters and probably have the Nihari biryani. If that doesn't impress, I will stick to my usual places.
Z. B. N.
Organised chaos great servings fantabulous food , from not being able to get my fingers out of the nihari biryani to delicious mix starters dish, a touch of flame on Mango fire mojito appetizing every sip of mine , in simple words dil khus kar ditta , best of all great service from an old friend Khalil patel Keep it up fam .Inshallah it will be a great hit in Leicester too.

Really Enjoyed the place, Amazing Atmosphere,Great Tasting food, would definitely go back & recomend others and Special thanks to our Waiter Eva for taking care of everything
C. B.
Indo Chinese street food, great taste, appealing and modern presentation. Really great place to dine in.

Lovely food, brilliant deco, staff were great definitely visiting again

We visited Saffron Street over the weekend and the whole experience was amazing. As the restaurant is new, we were worried waiting times would be quite lengthy but we were sat down within a few minutes. The waiter took our order and the food came quicker than expected. Would definitely recommend the Palak chaat and the masala chips. They also have a wide variety of desserts which tasted great. The cinnamon doughnuts are a must try. 10/10
A. A.
Superb dining experience, clean & vibrant decor and atmosphere, top prayer & wudhu facilities, very helpful staff & the owners came a few times to ask if everything had gone well, couldnt fault the customer service! We ordered the chandni chowk to China thalii which was a delicious variation of starters & mains, highlight was definitely the chilli paneer, chilli chicken & damaka prawns, wasnt to fond of the gobii & noodles were nothing special, decent portion size, the thali was enough for the 2 of us, the paratha was divine though, very crispy & flaky with lots of layers.. would definitely reccomend you order the onion salad too with the chillies for those spice lovers!! We finished off with the fried kulfii in pastry dessert which was nice, not to overly sweet...Overall a pleasant evening, good food decently priced..would probably visit again to try the Bamboo biryaniii:))
M.
The dining experience at Saffron Street from the food, decor, to level of service is bar to none in Leicester. We ordered a selection of different dishes and the presentation and effort gone into each dish stood out to us immediately. I would recommend trying Samosa Chaat, Pani Puri and the Prawns from the starters and the Chinese Thali from the mains!
S. I.
I visited yesterday, got a table straight away. Decor & staff were truly amazing. They were really busy but that did not stop the great service they were providing. Now the food we had got was the chandni chawk platter. It was basic. Had to request table salt to add on it. Falooda we order was not nice at all. Starberry Mojito was nice. And the kids meal was ok. Overall I have not tried everything on the menu but from what I have I would say its nothing special and I would say portions are less for the price being paid. I will pay a visit again but will not be ordering what I did this occasion.
D. H.
Excellent service!! Friendly staff gave good food suggestions and all the dishes were delicious!!
A. A.
Really nice food and staff are very friendly. The menu is full of different tastes I guess every time you go you must try something different
N. C.
WOW want an absolute pleasure to eat here. The staff here are amazing and really helpful. Food came within 20 minutes and the food was beautiful. Wait for a table was only 10 minutes. The front of house was really welcoming, friendly and made us feel comfortable. Will definitely be visiting again.
L. d.
Taste was OK not great waiting is for more than 1hr staff slow and ignore our request for anything prices are overly high compare to portion size lamb biryani is fail
R. K.
We had a spectacular experience dining at Saffron Street. The food was excellent and service was top. The dining experience felt different to any other restaurant in the area as the food tasted unique and the presentation was spot on. The Food came out quickly and so did our desserts. We Will be definitely be returning soon.

Amazing authentic Indian food and outstanding service. Best restaurant in Leicester by a landslide. Great atmosphere and elegant design. Can't fault them on anything and definitely will be going back.

New restaurant
Great service
Serve halal food

I visited two weeks ago on Saturday. Good service, food was incredible - great selection for vegetarians. The interior decor is lovely. My only recommendation would be to introduce a booking system. It makes it difficult to arrange a trip to this restaurant if you're not 100% guaranteed a table or face a wait for hour(s).
D. V.
Food looks as good as it tastes. One of the authentic Indian restaurants in and around Leicester with aesthetic interiors and polite staff. Ask for their signature dishes while ordering and you won't regret it. Everything tastes good and although prices are on the high end, it's worth the money. Do prepare for long waiting periods on weekends.

We had a really good experience at Saffron Street in Leicester. Food was good and the service was impeccable. With a party of 12 never easy but Survian (Waiter) was professional throughout.
Good experience and would recommend going to this restaurant.
S. A.
Nice and clean restaurant, lovely food love there Chinese plater and sev puri is best. Overall nice place to visit with family.
K. M.
We visited today lady waitress served us name started with a S she was lovely really good food worth visiting.
N. B.
Alhamdulillah we had a lovely late lunch today. The decor, food and service were top class. To have the chef come round and ask us if we enjoyed the meal was a new and lovely experience. Keep up the good work. Well done to all the staff.
s. t.
Great ambiance, lovely food and well presented, served with a smile by friendly staff, would have rated 5 stars but no parking facilities and they didn't cater for dietary requirements for a family member who was gluten intolerant.
Prayer room facilities also available.
Would definitely recommend.
D. P.
Excellent customer service from the waiters and owners. Beautiful decor with amazing vibes. Food was delicious and glad we have a elegant place like this in Leicester. Cannot fault the food, service or atmosphere one bit. Glad we came and recommend it to everyone. The food was well presented and delicious. Well done saffron Street
M. z. K.
Delicious biryani, chandi chawk noodles were really nice too
Chicken lollipops
Recommend this place
R. V.
This place is awesome!!! The food is fantastic, and if you are not sure what to order from the menu, then the thali is great. This has a lot of items from the main menu and is enough for 2 people.
The service was fast and efficient, and Amira who took our order was wonderful and friendly, and real credit to the place.
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone
J. R. L.
Thank you so much for accommodating 16 of us for our work outing at relatively short notice! The service was prompt and friendly and the food was absolutely amazing.
Could not improve if I tried! I can see why there was a queue for a table leading into the street as we were leaving! Will definitely be returning :)
Thank you thank you thank you!

Had a lovely meal, enjoyed the experience.

Very tasty Indian food, well presented and at reasonable prices.

I visited saffron street on the weekend after eagerly awaiting its opening! I’ve always been such a huge fan of the saffron branch in London and I can say the Leicester branch really lived up to its high expectations! Everything from its exquisite decor to the customer service, the staff and the presentation was on point! But more importantly, the food was beyond amazing! I ordered a large variety of food and from the flavours to the presentation, the quality and portion size, it was all perfect and didn’t disappoint! I couldn’t fault it in the slightest! I also ordered the classic fried ice cream and brownie sizzler for my desserts and they topped off a very good meal! I had a great time and would definitely visit again with more of my friends and family! The food, service and the vibes were definitely worth the wait!! 100% worth the hype!!!

Lots of new things to try in this welcome addition to London Road. For our first visit we opted to share the vegetarian thaali at £22. A delicious selection with the stand out dish palak paneer kofta. While rather a lot of food for one, we recommend adding an extra main and perhaps another pudding if there are two of you.
We were quick to be served and the empty dishes removed as soon as they were finished.
It was quite busy, even for very early evening on a Wednesday. That says it all really!
M. E.
everyone has different experiences but i can only mention mine. arrived at 5 pm on a saturday. the moment i entered i was warmly welcomed then seated quickly. a staff member gave me personal attention with some menu advice. great experience from attentive staff and good portions and great service which made me feel good as was made to feel special.
K. K.
Great for non-veg. vegetarian food was OK not a wow factor. Waiters are really friendly but I cannot say the same about the people behind the desk.
It is very busy and chaotic, not a place to go if you want a peaceful meal. We went mid-week in the evening.
T. A.
Limited chicken curry dishes and blueberry daquiri was far too slushy, otherwise food was decent
S. M.
Food was fantastic. Service wasnt the best. Plenty of staff just walking around took sometime to get their attention. Had the fried ice cream wasnt the best as had this elsewhere and it was done properly. If they get the fried ice cream dessert correct and staff keep an eye on their customers would be 5 stars!!
M. K.
Had a lovely meal & wait time was not too long. Staff were friendly but food cannot arrive in a certain order eg starters then mains which was a let down. Portion sizes were quite big though.
Food:
Palak chaat 10/10 really yummy
Hariyali Paneer Tikka 10/10 super yummy with the lemon but not worth £10
Palak paneer koftar 8/10 was greatly presented, tasted average so not worth £10
Garlic bread (8/10 bit burned) & rice (10/10) - super basic as anywhere else
Overall, experience was decent, decor was nice, service was okay despite being busy.
Y. N.
I went to this restaurant with 4 others on Sunday the 22nd of May for dinner.
We ordered 3 mains a few starters and a drink each also Dosas, nihari biryani the lamb biryani Thali thing which was for two people and some other bits and bobs.
I found the food to be very filling.
The service was pretty good, the food was mediocre, I think it wasn't as flavoursome as many next generation Indo subcontinent people would prefer.
I found the quality of the meat good and tender however as for the taste it just wasn't flavoursome enough.
Service 10/10
Quality of meat 7/10
Quality of food 6/10
Bill/ a little on the high side
Decor/ very nice
Overall experience 6/10
Parking is always a headache around the London road area. You can park at the Demont fort hall car park which is a few minutes walk away (pay and display) after 6 it's only 2 quid or so but it does get very busy.
A good experience however I'm not in a hurry to go back there very soon.
This is an honest review.
N. S.
Went to this restaurant for the first time today, didn’t know what to order so we asked one of the waiters. He was so friendly & helpful that he went through the whole menu with us. We decided to try one of their thalis, the food was amazing & we got a taste of three different curries, two starters & a dessert. We will definitely go back.
M. C.
Truly delicious, fresh food in a lovely environment, served beautifully. I couldn't fault anything they served at all.
The only down side is that they won't serve you a black coffee, even though they serve coffee. It's a milky coffee or nothing, which is why I docked them a star. If you have ingredients for something so basic you really should show the minor flexibility to use them. It makes me wonder if they would make allowances for allergies or intolerances or just show you the door.
U. G.
Waited 1 and a half hours and was totally worth it. The staff were amazing, polite and easy to understand and speak to. The mojitos first of all were amazing, the food was even better. Food was cooked perfect and did not take long to come out although it was busy, so really impressed and I would definitely recommend this to friends and family and so should you 👍🏻
J. D.
I had high hopes for Saffron Street after seeing the hype on social media.
In case you don’t want to scroll down, I thought the food was average and overpriced.
I had the mixed grill and I personally am not a fan of colouring in food which this certainly had. It was evident here for a £22 mixed grill which lacked the taste of authenticity. The wings, kebabs in particular were red in colour and offered little to mild taste. The lamb chops were good in taste. If you like your lamb chops fatty that is, the actual meat was minimal. Surprisingly the tandoori chicken was the nicest part of the dish, had some taste, gently charred and meaty.
Leicester unfortunately doesn’t have any world class grill places that tickle the taste buds and satisfy the soul. Think Regency, Purple Flame, Namaste Lounge - all of which are in the suburbs of London.
However I WILL try this place again as it’s early days and there are other dishes to be had so will edit the review whether positive or negative.

Food was definitely nice. Very insta-grammable and fresh.
Service was friendly but not timed.
Food comes as it gets ready, no particular order.
Tables felt a little close together and small in size.
S. A.
I just can't resist myself since the food here is so amazing. Indian flavours that are real and come in a wide range of flavours ❤️. There is a diverse range of food to pick from. It is Leicester's first of its kind. Not only is the visual excellent, but so is the flavour. There are also several vegetarian options. I recommend the Samosa Chaat, Pani Puri, and Prawns from the appetisers, as well as the Chinese Thali from the mains! ❤️❤️
M. i.
Love this new place in town. They have beautiful decor, seating and most importantly food! It's tasty and matches expectations. There presentation is also always on point!
We got here with 6 people and turns out they only have 2 tables that can seat 6-8 people and so we had a verrry long wait!
The owner was kind enough to tell us that there was a prayer area upstairs where we can wait comfortably with the family!
The prayer area also has 2 wudhu seats!
No reservations here however when you arrive, you give your name and number and they will message you when your table is ready.
Would definitely recommend and go again!
H. M.
I visited saffron street few days ago and I have to say the service and food was amazing. The palak chaat is something i have never had before. Absolutely beautiful. The service was amazing. The front of house was really polite and helpful.
J. R.
Before we get in to the food (which is the most important aspect of a restaurant), when walking in, the decor and design of the building had a regal and royal aesthetic that automatically made me feel I’d been invited to a dinner gala. More importantly, the food was a genuine surprise. There’s a lot of variety in food, which means a second visit is necessary.
Between five of us, we ordered three sharing meals. Firstly, it was more than enough for us to feel satisfied and pleased.
1) Chandini Chowk To China
This was presented amazingly, the noodles looked like they were floating in air, a great use of imagination to make a meal appear more appetising. The variations of chicken/prawn/paneer complemented the noodles perfectly.
2)Mixed Grill
Although this is a standard on most people’s order, it was far from standard in quality. Each different piece of meat or chicken was cooked and blended with enough flavour to make you want to order them all separately. The lamb chops were a definite standout from this.
3)Nihari Biriyani
The definite winner and MVP of my meal. The lamb was succulent and easily came off the bone when taking my serving of rice and lamb. Genuinely amazed at how tasty and satisfying this biriyani was compared to every other Indian restaurant I have eaten biriyani at. I would challenge anyone to try and make a better biriyani.
Would definitely recommend going, I definitely will be returning.
A. G.
The place itself is very nice (decoration etc). The mocktails are also nice.
Food wise we had two thalis, chilli chips and the brownie sizzler. While the food looked very nice (for the insta folk out there) I found it lacked in flavour.
The place has created a buzz for itself (we went on a Tuesday and it was packed).
I don't think i will be in a rush to go back. Service was good so cannot knock them for that especially considering how busy it was.
S. G.
Absolutely delicious food!! The dhabba lamb was soooo good ! Along with the chicken lollipops, masala fries, chaat, bai buns, fried ice cream ! Waited one hour for the table but definitely worth it as could not fault the food!
S. R.
First time visited and they didn't said that the kitchen will close 10P.M. As we wanted to order more to take away (that time we found out kitchen close at 10P.M.).
Otherwise good customer service and food was delicious.
Was going to give 5✴️ but due to not knowing/letting customer know regarding kitchen close time I gave 4✴️
H. R.
Honestly, the dhaba ghosht could have a bit more meat in it and the kashmiri chai needed more almond pistachio mix in it but for flavours, excellent food, cooked to perfection.
They get four stars because the mocktails are a joke. Do not order a mocktail if you are a grown adult.
F. S.
Bookings: I am not sure why they don't take bookings but regardless we were told it would take an hour and we chose to wait. We were seated at a smaller table so it was a bit cramped. But nevermind.
Food: I wish I could say the food was amazing, but it wasn't. I found it also quite expensive and the portions are small.
We had the Dahi and Sev Puri which was decent. Also tried the Chandni Chowk to China and the Lucknowi thaali. Both of them had a variety of stuff but only 1 or 2 things were nice in them like the lamb chops, lamb bao bun and the noodles and prawns were good. The Kaali Mirch Chicken was not great at all, actually just tasted like a sub par red chicken curry and also for £11 the portion is v small. Also had the Nihari Biryani, this actually was quite nice, the lamb shank was very soft and flavourful, wish it was a little bit bigger for £15. The lassi was good as well.
Overall, I think the price should be reflected in tasty food and decently sized portions. Since it doesn't, you do feel disappointed. Would like to try more things in the future maybe. Does make for a pretty insta post though!
k. m.
We arrived at saffron street at 6:30 on a Friday night. To my surprise they had a 1 hour wait for a table. We put our name down and headed over to the marquis Wellington for a drink. We returned back, and were told it's going to be another 15 min. All this waiting around was very tiring. I wish they had a booking system for advanced reservation.
Waiter service was good even when questioned on any allergies.
The menu looked great. Sadly this is a dry bar, no alcohol served at this venue.
We ordered the Chandi chok to China thali. Everything was nice apart from the noodles. The noodles tasted like they were cooked a long time ago and tasted off. We mentioned to the waiter who took it away. The biryani was nicely presented in a nice bamboo. Once tipped out you can see plenty of rice was packed in side. The biryani needed more flavour, seemed a little bland.
The décor was impressive. Waiter service was good. The food was somewhat ok. The long wait at the beginning was very long winded. They need a bar area for people to have a drink while waiting for a drink.
H.
Thoroughly enjoyed my whole experience! Very welcoming saff, amazing service! The food was delicious, very well presented and good portion sizes. Really impressed with how fast and fresh the food was. I would definitely recommend the Thaalis and the mixed grill, you get it all in one ! For starters I would 100% say the palak chaat and masala chips! They were beyond delicious! The desserts were on point ! My favourite was the brownie sizzler, it’s a must try ! Overall it was Indian food taken to a whole new Level, Would definitely be visiting again… I highly recommend…10/10!
s. r.
we ordered nihari biryani which was very yumm and mix grill was awesome too but i didnt like chandni chowk to china thali..looking for coming back again to try more dishes, nice environment for families

If you prefer something different to the regular & basic curry options around leicester, this one is well worth it. Its a nicer place to eat out in, plus the place is warm and welcoming. Staff are smiling and food is just what you'd expect. Glad to see better places opening in and around leicester. Nida served us throughout our experience and she deserves a shout out.

An evening out to dine out with my Wife at Saffron Street Leicester on Valentine’s Day !
I was sceptical at first if I should visit this newly opened restaurant in Leicester or dine somewhere else. The reason for this was simply every 2-3 reviews
There is a bad review !
We arrived at 17:10PM within 5 mins we got seated with a table. A first great first impression goes a long way.
Customers don’t like to wait around and this was my concern how long we would be waiting for a table therefore we arrived nice and early before the mad rush !
Once seated I said to my wife please don’t expect fine dining here since this isn’t our fine dining restaurant experience we will get here but the least I expect was great service and good standard of food.
We ordered the following below :
Drinks - Fanta
Mineral water
Mango Fire Mojito
Virgin Mojito
Starters - Pani Puri
Masala Chips
Murgh Malai Tikka
Lamb chops
Dhamaka Prawns
Main menu - Dhaba Gosht
Nihari Biryani
Tandoori Naan x 2
Pilau rice
Desserts - Rasmalai Cake
Fried Ice cream
Our total bill was £111.30 to us this was not expensive since most of the time we dine at 5 star Michelin restaurants in Central London and abroad and I pay more than double what I paid at Saffron street Leicester.
The Mocktails were good and the food was nice ! So why did I give only 4 Stars and not 5. The reason was everything was fine from service to food taste but the only let down was the waitress touched our Nihari biryani with her hands whilst the pastry was fully covered over the biryani whilst in a pot. I immediately stopped her because of hygiene reasons.
Unfortunately another waiter immediately came along and told her that this has to be cut with a knife and not with the hands. luckily the waitress didn’t take the pastry off with her hands ! I understand this wasn’t purposely done but rather this was her instinct that made her touch the Nihari biryani. However the waitress apologised and we accepted her apology since we were not going to eat the pastry.
Would I return ? why wouldn’t I return it was nice and good. I jokingly said to the gentleman behind the bar who i assume was the franchise owner who took my payment that my bill was cheaper and I’m happy lol

I have went here with my family and it was amazing, the food was fantastic and delicious. Their noodles and lamb chops were superb. The service was also great. Masha’allah. I would totally recommend.

Leicesters food scene really upgraded this week😍. Visited Saffron Street over the weekend and it was 10/10 in all aspects. Management were polite, service was amazing. And the food was just what Leicester was missing! With a variety of different dishes including several veggy options, i have to say the lamb chops were probably one of the best I’ve had.
We finished off our meal with a variety of desserts and authentic tandoori tea. Trust me don't leave without trying their desserts, the fresh baklava with ice cream and hot cinnamon donuts hit the spot!

I visit with my family. The food is fantastic and food test is very nice. There are very busy other there service are amazing. Staff is very nice as well as service is very good. I highly recommend .

Food was amazing! Especially the palak chaat and masala chips! Chops were soft and succulent and the chicken lollipops were so crispy and juicy! Must also mention that, Nidas service was impeccable, she was always available when we needed anything and provided us with anything we needed very quickly. Nida was also very polite along with the two guys who had got our table available. Saffron street is the best in Leicester!

Best restaurant in the Midlands. All the food was 10/10. If only all restaurants had such high standards! Can’t recommend enough.

It was a weeknight , but still very busy. Really impressed with the food was tasty and very fresh.
We had a table for two and we’re sat near other tables for two, it just seemed like they were too close together, but maybe that’s just me !
Some of the staff were a little clueless, but i guess that will just get better with time! A nice addition to London road and it’ll definitely make a great impact if they carry on wiith what they are doing ! I’ll definitely visit again with the family !!

Service was good, was seated within 20mins for 2 on a busy saturday evening. Food was average, ordered the chandi chowk platter and a few starters, it was nothing special.

Good location, bit overcrowded, got seat straight away. Kebabs bit raw. Thali was great, drinks small. Overall ok

The food was great, the Thaali section is full of great food, and it covers a lot of the menu. Service and venue is top tier, would defo go many times

We arrived early for a pre show dinner which was superb. By the time we left there was a queue to get in. Book in advance, you won't be disappointed.

A wonderful new addition to the streets of Leicester, what’s not to like…
First visit here with friends, was an hour wait. Front of house took our details and booked us in.
During which time went for a quick drink across the road to Kake Temptations (fabulous place)
A short while later, received a phone call and we were seated.
Anyway back to Saffron Street, the place had a GREAT atmosphere and our waiter for the evening was Saeed, a lovely young man who was extremely attentive and explained the various options on the menu including the mocktails.
We ordered, the Chandni chok tali, palak chaat (highly recommend), nihari biryani and chicken lillipop. For desert, doughnuts and ice cream (a must have) & a filo hot ice cream. The mango fire mocktail was super delicious.
Between 3 of us the bill came to £90, worth every penny. Would highly recommend.

I. R.
It was nice
I. A. A.
Someone has obviously spent a lot of time and effort on the place especially the menu. Big menus do make it difficult to choose what to order.
The presentation was a 10/10 the service was a 10/10 unfortunately the only thing that was lacking was the flavour in some of the food. The taste wasn't any different from any other South Asian restaurant and I've actually had better tasting foods from smaller restaurants.
