I love this fish and chip shop! Been coming here since I was a child and the owner is very welcoming. The food is always delicious and great care is taken to ensure that fresh fish is cooked on arrival for those ordering this.

Have you ever walked through watermead park? Have you ever walked through watermead park and caught the aroma of a chippy nearby? Have you ever walked through watermead park and caught the aroma of a chippy nearby and then gone to The Codfather and had some of the best chips in Leicester whilst continuing your walk?! If not, then get on down to this place! The chips are 10/10 and unique! Not like your standard chippy chips. I'd say a cross between the chippy style but with a nice crunchy outside like Amsterdam style chips. The vinegar they use is nice and tangy and of top notch quality. Swift service with a smile and a very lovely chap all round! Pop in on your next walk or whenever else you are getting the urge for some amazing chips. Serving some of the best chips anywhere and definitely THE best chips in the Thurmaston/Birstall/Syston areas. You will not be disappointed!!

it was the hottest day of the century and I was stuck in traffic because the dual carrigeway was closed, I spotted this gem of a chippy and thought what does anyone want on a day where it is nearly 40c? thats right a battered sausage lol, the poor sod working behind the counter looked like he was melting, the place was clean and guy was friendly, food was good.

I live in Syston and I’ve tried most of the chip shops around this area, but The Codfather is by far the best. Frank (the owner) is seriously passionate about frying the best fish and you can see him actually time every fish to make sure it’s always cooked to perfection. Couldn’t recommend enough 🙌🏽

I'm convinced this is one of the very best in Leicestershire, I work on the roads and have chippy every Friday, this is one does everything right and everything very well. Plus in a world where I've paid £5.60 in a chip shop for lunch. I'm so happy this was £3.00 for such a great portion. Curry sauce also is fantastic tasted so nice, I prefer it warm and thicker which this was brilliant taste.

Disappointed as bought Large Haddock & regular chips BUT when I looked at the size of the fish it was small NOT LARGE like I ordered. When I asked the girl who served me she says the fish comes in different sizes so the price should have been adjusted to reflect that. Basically I paid for Large fish but turned out to be small size not good. Food was good and fresh.

Food is always amazing! I always appreciate how much effort the boss puts in, literally working as hard as his employees! The fish batter is the perfect balance between too thin and too thick. He is even generous with his portions! Keep it up and go visit! Very worth it!

Absolutely marvellous..and to top it off on Tuesday they do a £6 full fish and chips plus any side dish. The best chippy around for miles. Worth the travel . Fish was excellent batter crispy apparently the proprietor said he used sparkly spring water to get it like that. Very polite and friendly staff. 5star hygiene rating. Does what it says on the tin. Best lunch time chippy meal I have ever had, freshly cooked fish and chips. Huge portions and wow what amazing food. He had a health and safety visit while I was there. He kept his 5 stars and so he should the place is immaculate. I wish all fish and chip shops Owners took pride in their food and shop like this guy does, we would never get a bad takeaway. Placed a telephone order early afternoon to pick up at 6pm, the shop was extremely busy and people were respecting the 2m distance in the queue. My order was ready bang on time and the food was fresh, hot and absolutely delicious. Brilliant customer service, the guys were obviously very stressed and busy but still really kind and polite. I'll definitely be using them again🏆

Enormous portions. One portion of haddock and chips would have been enough for two of us had I known in advance. Crispy batter on good quality moist fish. Mushy peas are as good as the north of England where I normally live, but I am currently staying with my elderly father in Leicester. Great friendly prompt service following a phone order. This is a great chip shop the guy that runs it is so friendly and always happy to help. If you don't see what you want just ask and he more than happy to cook it for you. My daughter had a burger and loved it. We had a chicken wrap and its the first thing I have enjoyed in a while.

Genuinely one of the best fish and chips shops in Leicester. Always service with a smile, some other fish and chips shops are abit hit and miss but honestly I can't say I've ever had a bad portion size or bad food from this chippy. The owner is friendly and the food is great. The only thing that dissapointed me is everytime I come to this chippy as an Arsenal fan I have to see the Tottenham crest hanging off the wall at the back 😂. In all seriousness give it a go and I promise you won't be dissapointed.

This was the nearest place to grab food and as it was nearly the afternoon closing time we were only expecting chips. We held a games night at our clubhouse at Elizabeth Park, the food was presented piping hot and plentiful in recyclable boxes, the fish was particularly good as were the chips and peas, we can recommend the Codfather as a friendly efficient business for either personal use or for your organisation....
