The fish was really good cooked to perfection chips were great for me although the wife thought they needed to be cooked a bit more. This is a matter of taste. The downside was even though I requested xtra salt and vinegar on both it was only put on the fish. The fact that the salt and vinegar was absent from the chips spoilt a nice meal. For those who may say why did you not go back. I had driven off on my way back home 70 miles away. Then stopped to eat them further along the journey. Moral of the story. Keep salt pepper and vinegar sachets in the car.

This has to be by far the best fish and chip shop I have ever been to! The chips are crisp and fluffy, which the fish is fresh and crunchy. If your a fan of mushy peas or curry source it is fantastic! I can not recommend this place enough!

Great food and service. We ordered cod place and some chips, and everything was great. The chips were perfectly cooked slightly golden, and perfectly crispy and still light and fluffy on the inside, and not one bit soggy. The fish was lovely the batter was super golden and the fish was just lovely a couple of bones but that's to be expected. Overall just lovely and will be going again

Now I'm not from Lincoln so unsure of the going rate round here. Nor was I aware I inadvertently turned up on a gluten free day. Notwithstanding these caveats I felt £18 for a fish, two small sausages, a small battered sausage, a curry and a small and large chips was a touch heavy. Especially given the £4.80 the chips cost was barely enough for two adults and two three year olds. Honestly the £1.80 small portion was laughable comprising no more than twenty chips. No wonder the woman raised a quizzical eye when I asked if a £3 large would accommodate the four of us. Alas the food was of a good standard albeit the curry sauce very sweet. I'd suggest going here if you're feeling simultaneously flush and guilty in advance, calorie conscious, yet want a treat. You ain't getting much to feel guilty about, you'll be lighter for the empty pockets but have sated the desire for a bit of grease.

Great place to buy gluten free fish and chips, now every Tuesday when they have changed the oil. Got so regular we had to stop and have it every other week. I so missed fish and chips, and they are even nicer without all the gluten in it, so I really wonder if it would be better for them to drop gluten products all together. 😀

First time eating here. Googled Fish and chips in Lincoln and this came up highly rated. Food was good. I had sausage and chips and my partner had fish and chips. The fish was inconsistent (parts just chewy batter). Can tell it wasn’t freshly cooked but it was still nice. Sausage was good but I was suprised they only had one size (wasn’t that big) rather than a large and regular. The chips were very nice but I did have to go out and buy some vinegar as we weren’t asked if we wanted salt and vinegar before they were wrapped (criminal). The shop it’s self was really clean.

EXCELLENT ...... took my family for lunch and we all came away happy. The restaurant was comfortable and clean and the staff very helpful. The haddock was fresh, beautiful white flakes full of juicy flavour. Crispy light batter to finish it off. Chips were chunky and cooked fluffy inside with a nice crisp coating. The whole meal was cooked perfectly and a good portion size offering value for money and presented lovely. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for good fish and chips.

Used to be very good, and a regular staple of my Saturday nights which I could not fault. The quality of the takeaway food however, has gone down over the last few months, with the fish batter being consistently soggy, and the chips not being cooked all the way through. I understand that It is disappointing that they seem to be resting on their laurels after being awarded the second best award in the UK, and are allowing standards to slip.

First time customers at this chippy. Went one late lunch time. Had to wait for the fish to be cooked but that's not a problem. I can see why it's had the Chippy of the Year award. Very light, crunchy and tasty batter. The chips weren't overly greasy. Even my son remarked how good they were. Definitely going back there.

Best chippy fish and chips I've think I've ever had! Fresh, crisp batter, soft, flakey and tasty fish. Lovely chips, not at all greacy or soggy! Service was quick, but at 9pm with only a few customers, I would have expected it to be. I bet if I'd arrived 2 hours earlier, I would have had to wait a little long to be served. All in all my husband and I really enjoyed our takeway.

They do a gluten-free night on the first Tuesday of every month. Personally, I think the gluten-free batter is tastier and crunchier than the ordinary one. They are lovely people who are always pleasant and work very hard. Oh, and they fish and chips are awesome!

Some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. The guy who served me, "Marf" as he's known, offered quick and polite service asking me if I'd like any fish frying upon my arrival, in anticipation for my order when I reached the counter. Good lad. He took my order in a polite and jovial manner, advising me on which fish and portions I should order to suit my tastes, we also shared some laughs along the way!! Five stars to Marf.

Very nice food as always when we visit, but portion size seems to be getting smaller. They used to do tea refills and top up the pot but not now which is a shame, as tea is so cheap. Well, I can see why this place has awards! Biodegradable packaging and cutlery. The staff were cheerful and eager to please despite the fact they were preparing to close when we turned up. The fish was cooked to perfection (which rather disappointed me because I'd ordered a small portion) I was left wishing I'd ordered a large! (So much for being good lol) Saving that treat for next time! There's a restaurant attached so there is the chance for a sit down meal or take away. There's also a few specific parking spaces as well as roadside parking nearby. DEFINITELY worth a visit.

It's actually known in Lincoln to be a legend of a place to get your fish and chips fix since it originally was housed in a smaller building on the same road with queues that went out the door and down the street. This is a very friendly and efficient place with both takeout and eat in options, and a good menu for a fish and chips shop. I really like that have a sign up saying what kind of potatoes they have used that day and where they are from and which boat the fish has come from, it's a nice touch. For vegetarians, try the halloumi, a fried cheese that is really tasty. One tip- if you're getting takeout, you can let them know what you want right when you get in the queue so they can start cooking it for even before you have ordered and paid.

Expensive food,disappointed with the fish seemed to be loads of batter and honestly hardly any fish. I had the large haddock and again it lookes as though the fillets have been halved, gone of the days when you cut onto a piece of fish and it was flaky. When it first opened this was the best chippy in the area, but over the years it has gone downhill somewhat. It may be a change in the staff but the frying is not as good, chips tend to be harder and the fish, which is freshly cooked, is not as crisp as it used to be.

Lincoln Cathedral is the best cathedral (other than St Paul's) in the country. When one has lived in Lincoln and visits places like York, Durham or Canterbury one expects to see spectacular cathedrals and castles. Living in Lincoln makes these beautiful buildings so commonplace that one is rarely impressed when visiting others. It is the same with these chips. Burton Road is the epicenter of great chips for the entire country. Whitby can only dream of producing chips like these. If you want fish & chips then you owe it to yourself to buy them from here. No hyperbole, I came from London to eat here.
