Reviews of Cafe Zoot
C. D.
Super welcoming staff with a warm Italian atmosphere. Very convenient for a quick bite at lunch. Clean and bright inside, comfortable seating and a nice view of the street outside. Decent sized menu with lots to show, including a 2 course offer. Plentiful food portions and excellent value for money, will definitely return. Highly recommended.

My daughter and I have been in here a few times now. I find the service and the food lovely. The breakfast is really filling and we also had lunch which has been really nice too. A lovely little place to eat and drink with your family.

Highly Recommend.
On our recent expedition to Lincoln,
we were hungry to taste, something different and savoury.
After some research, we fell for Cafe Zoot Restaurant and although I wasn't so sure by the name, actually it come up as such delightful experience.
Beautiful food!! I love my rice chicken chorizo paella and carpaccio.
I loved the presentation of the stats.
The main course was delicious.
Excellent hygiene.
The service is quite friendly and attentive.
Price reasonable.
We would definitely back and recommended it Cafe Zoot.
A.
A nice cafe close to the cathedral and the castle. Mostly Italian cuisine: pizza, pasta, but also some burgers and chicken.
The service was very friendly, and the food came super quick.
T. S.
A very good restaurant with a wide selection of food and friendly smiley staff. I had the Paella whilst two of my companions had burger and the other a rib eye steak. Would go back...in fact we actually did go back!

A restaurant mainly oriented to tourists visiting Lincoln, located near the Cathedral. It has a range of food choices, mainly British and Italian. The atmosphere was pleasant and servers were very kind, but the food itself didn't match the cost (I realize they're tourists prices but still).

We visited Cafe Zoot yesterday for my birthday meal. I ordered the Wild Mushroom Bruschetta to start with, but sadly the “wild” mushrooms must have been tamed because they were just ordinary button mushrooms which had been quartered. The other two starters were good. Mains time, Blade of Beef which was good, Carbonara (which had onions in which was a little unexpected) and I had the chicken with leeks and wild mushrooms… must be a common theme, the mushrooms weren’t in the dish when it was served so I had to ask for them, they only arrived after I’d finished eating.
We were really looking forward to this as being somewhere different, especially as it was my birthday, and somewhere that we hadn’t tried before but for what it was, I have to say it was expensive as well.
Not sure we will be going back.
B. T.
Their service and food was great. Love their pasta and mozzarella with smoked duck carpaccio.

I had a delicious evening meal on Thursday (11/08/22). Everything was cooked to perfection with value for money portions. Terrific service. Loved eating in a spotless restaurant with fabulously white starched table linen. Felt a terrific night out. Thank you to all the staff.
C. B.
Some, like us, appear unnoticeable. Long waits and customer prompting due to new or preoccupied staff. To be fair, waitresses were being micro-managed by a harrassed Manager of east-nordic origin and grim disposition. Any initiative or charm they may have had was overlaid with Manager's hectic stressing. Basic training needed.
And smiling is obligatory, guys!
Улыбаться необходимо!

Excellent service, great food. Will visit again, highly recommended, thank you. 😊

Went for a meal after my daughter's graduation today - couldn't have been more perfect! Superb service and excellent food that everyone enjoyed. Good location and plenty of choice on the menu, whatever you like. Thank you
A.
Warm welcome got the evening off to an excellent start. Interesting menu provided range of options from starters to sweets.
Excellent food good value. Service was prompt and attentive.. Certainly will be back again. Thankyou Cafe Zoot

The loveliest friendliest little place. Food absolutely delicious I had the pasta and tomato sauce but it was GORGEOUS my husband had pork belly which he said was the best. If you're in Lincoln go here you will not be disappointed 😁
G. L.
Great restaurant, lovely staff, fab food. Would recommend. My waiter Harry was lovely and the woman behind the bar Heidi was an angel. Management was fab in general. I will be visiting again.
B. S.
Stopped for lunch 🤔 it was ok, waitress was having a bad day so it looked ☹️
The coffee is strong but once I added half the milk from the milk pot it made the coffee tepid (warm milk would have been nicer)
Portions were good and the food tasty. Seemed they had a great deal on, all day everyday: £15 selected starters and a main, considering a main was £12/13 and the starters £6/7, didn't seem a bad deal.
Myself I only opined for a main.
£30 two mains coffee and a soft drink.
The fire alarm randomly went off twice, the staff said nowt about this 😱!?? Until I enquired...apparently having issues (bad form that, glad I was sitting right by the exit)

Always liked this place but a very poor experience last visit for my birthday. I ordered beef bourguignon with dauphinois potatoes, it came with mash which was fine but no one bothered to tell me there would be a change, we had to ring as we were upstairs and couldn’t get past the other diners to ask where our two sides were that we’d already reminded the waiter about, ordered some puddings and three of the four arrived. The staff were friendly but more training needed I feel, such a shame as for the price I felt incredibly let down

So disappointed. We love the 3 restaurants of cafe zoot, tequilas & the old P, basilica and have done so for about 15 years….I believe now though that they may have been sold?
We received a trio voucher as a present and chose zoot last night, I called ahead to make a reservation.
When we arrived the girl didn’t let me speak but this may have been because the gent behind the bar barked at her as to which to sit us at!
The starters were good - although the sauce for the muscles was a little bland, the pate was very tasty!
I chose a pizza as they were always great there…not impressed at all this time.
My husband had steak, requested rare it came out medium and tasted like it had been sat in butter for ages.
We explained why we’d only eaten 1/4 of our food & asked for the bill….when received I then I had to request the steak be taken off…many discussions between wait staff & barking man over by the bar but it was removed.
I’m so sad as used to Love the food here!!!

Great service, lovely food, good menu. Friendly atmosphere. All good, definitely recommended.

Visited for lunch midweek - very busy and we got the last table. Staff seemed very new and not sure of what they were doing but otherwise a good meal, food was good, maybe a little overpriced but certainly better than most chain restaurants.
K. O.
Fairly small menu, but everything we ate was excellent. Good service, nice atmosphere, reasonably priced considering the quality
m. b.
Lovely restaurant, excellent ambience and attentive staff. Food was very tasty and served on hot plates. Perfect
J. S.
We arrived slightly late (our fault) and had to wait for our table as they has let our original table go, which was fine. However we had to wait by the bar area and felt in the way. But it wasn't long until our table was ready and we were seated, service was speedy and officiant, with a slight feeling of haist. Food was lovely and very reasonably priced, nice wine selection too.
M. M.
My wife and I supper here and were thoroughly pleased. We started off with the Classic Bruschetta which was good. Our main courses were the Blade of Beef and the Chicken & Chorizo Paella; both were flavorful and filling. I did order a side of Olives, but to my surprise they were quite spicy with peppers. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was outstanding. We will be returning.
E. L.
Lovely restaurant, was seated upstairs and treated with amazing service from a lovely female member of staff, although all staff members were very welcoming! Food was incredible, perfect sized portions allowed room for dessert! Thank you for a lovely evening
S. C.
Visited for my husband's 40th birthday. Staff couldn't do enough for our party of 12. Fab food and at £12.95 for a starter and a main it was great value. Good portion size, roast beef dinner was devoured by my fussy 5yo. Everyone had clean plates! Definitely recommend.
E. T.
Best chicken I’ve had in a long time. Easy drinking wine and an elegantly cosy (and busy) Monday evening.
J. B.
Lovely meal well cooked and beautifully presented. Snug little cafe right near the cathedral well decorated and nice atmosphere. Staff very friendly and efficient. Strongly recommended breakfast lunch or dinner mid price.
D. D.
Fabulous authentic food - with a 2 course deal making it even more enjoyable!
L.
The fry-up was delicious, the staff were both welcoming and friendly staff, there was somewhat of a long wait for food to be served, but overall we had a good experience. Would recommend!
B. M.
Well prepared food at reasonable prices. Staff helpful and efficient. A pleasant eating experience.
N. P.
Amazing food, one of the best stroganof I've had, lovely staff and great atmosphere,
They didn't rush us either so felt as if we could really enjoy our meal
J. M.
We went for a meal at Cafe zoo on Saturday 2nd April, 2022. The staff were very welcoming and nothing too much for them. Very nice cosy cafe, nice varied menu. We both had the vegetable soup, lovely. Fish, n chips beer battered were lovely. Quite expensive but we are on holiday. When we return to Lincoln we will go back.
M. E.
Average at best.
Nice enough place inside, quite cosy and comfortable. Nice little romantic spot.
Then comes the food. I had the deep fried camembert as a starter. Not a lot can be done to ruin this? Apart from under cooking it of course.
The main course was the biggest disappointment. Chicken Ballotine. A chicken breast with a leaf of spinach in it on a bed of mash with a white sauce. Presentation was anaemic. The chicken itself was nicely cooked, but the whole dish was distinctly lacking in flavour. There were no vegetables at all and I was not asked if I would like some by the waitress when I ordered. If veg was separate then this would have worked out to have been a very expensive mediocre dish.
This is the second time I have eaten in this establishment and both visits have proven equally as disappointing.
T.
Went there today for a light lunch, very busy but found a space for one in the window
Good food nice staff 👍
C. H.
Food was lovely, however found it quite expensive and the service was excruciatingly slow.
J. H.
Located on Bail Gate, this is a quaint little cafe which is open all day. The place is clean with a nice, cosy ambiance. The staff are friendly and efficient and service is good. We went here for breakfast which was served piping hot and was of a good quality. Set menu deals are available for lunch and dinner. Prices are very reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.
A.
Very nice food. Good portions. Nice variety, nice staff, food doesn't take to long to arrive and is well cooked.
C. S.
Food was delicious and looked amazing as well. Was very modestly priced for the quality you got.
The staff were attentive and friendly, at no point did we feel rushed even though we were there for a busy lunch time.
D. J.
Popped in for an impromptu lunch. Good menu choices and excellent service. Little bit expensive considering we both had a house salad but this was not part of the lunchtime deal. Had a very enjoyable lunch.
T. L.
A really lovely, cosy place with around half a dozen tables with very attentive staff. The food was amazing - I had a Crayfish paté for a starter and the Zoot burger on a brioche as a main.
The shop can be easy to miss if you're busy but this little gem is not one to be missed!
M. C.
Don't be put off by the "Cafe" part of the name. This is more of a restaurant than a cafe. It still does very good quality breakfasts and lighter items during the day as well as full-scale lunches and dinners. We ate there on our first night in Lincoln and were very happy with every part of the experience and so we went again the following evening as well. A good selection on the menu with a couple of surprisingly good wines too. Well presented meals and attentive staff at sensible prices. We will definitely go again and recommend it highly.
D. M.
Decent cafe. Feels very upmarket, but the coffee is very average and the food around the same level.
D. C.
Pleasant and comfortable establishment with friendly staff. Very worthy a stop if needing substanance.
H. B.
Wonderful food, very tasty. Service was great. Great atmosphere. Must go here!
M. Z.
A bit disappointed with this place. I usually walk past it and see it quite busy so we were curious to try it out.
The food is underwhelming, but not altogether bad. There are better places in Lincoln to have a nice dinner.
G. F.
Ate here today absolutely amazing food and good value for money my only slight complaint would be lack of lager
E. L.
Prompt service and no visual disappointment cos you're just one. Wine was a tad expensive but had quality. Food was excellent (cheesecake was divine)as was the service.
D. M.
We went for a family 21st meal and all ten of us had a lovely time. I think the restaurant was understaffed but the girls we had waiting on, were friendly and courteous. It made a poignant meal a lovely memorable time. They very kindly let us bring our own birthday cake. Thankyou girls.
L. K.
We spent a couple of nights in Lincoln recently and ate here on two occasions. We found the food delicious and plentiful at a reasonable price. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only problem was that they seemed to be having an issue with some supplies but given the current climate that is perhaps not very surprising.
G. H.
We went to Cafe Zoot as walk-ins on a busy Sunday evening because the place we had booked had let us down. They found us a table and we had a lovely meal. The staff were very helpful and pleasant, creating a very nice ambience. Altogether a very happy accident, we would love to revisit next time we are in Lincoln.
R. C.
Turned up for an early dinner
Delightful staff and food
Thank you
A good range of late breakfast to dinner food
C. R.
We popped in for lunch during Asylum, the steam punk festival. I was in a cosplay costume. My husband didn't recieve the order he wanted but he did enjoy the order he got. I had a weird diet moment and I ordered gluten free fish and chips. I didn't react once so I was happy. It was absolutely heaving and the staff were going flat tack. I would be clear about your order when its busy. I liked the venue, the staff and the prices. I will eat here again.
C. K.
Has the potential for being really nice. Good menu, very helpful and willing staff but more attention is needed on the food. Ours could have been hotter and the gravy was not quite how we like it but we would return if this was improved. In the main, a nice place and very convenient in the town centre.
A. B.
Super Sunday lunch , speedy service , helpfull staff , lovely and clean restaurant and toilets .
J. S.
Lovely breakfast, prompt service and it was popular!
Y. H.
What a lovely little restaurant. Friendly staff and great service.
R. W.
Pleasant experience, good food and not expensive for city centre.
S. S.
Beautiful ambience, great service and delicious food.
Had a nice evening there with my husband and son.
K. B.
Had breakfast two mornings running. Can't fault it! Excellent service. Food great & cooked as I'd asked for it cooking. Would definitely come here again when visiting Lincoln!
j. c.
We went for breakfast/brunch a good choice on the menu the staff were friendly and efficient and our food was tasty
A. S.
The food was delicious..so much better than expected. This is probably the only restaurant to be open in Lincoln on a Sunday until 10pm! Hats off to you Zoot. Highly recommended..food, service, atmosphere fabulous 👏👏
M. W.
Food never disappoints, always good quality, value for money. Excellent service
S. B.
Had breakfast during the Asylum weekend, worth every penny
d. c.
a great meal good choice on the menu and good friendly service
S. W.
Supper coffee and filling full English breakfast
r. d.
We decided to go for a Deliveroo order and were more than pleasantly surprised. The quality of both the ingredients, preparation, presentation and taste was of a very high standard placing Cafe Zoot at the top of the local Deliveroo charts for ourselves, outshining the local competition by miles.
A. T.
Good food, well presented, good service. Excellent situation in the old part of the city centre, near the cathedral and castle. Popular nightlife area, with a selection of pubs, bars and other food outlets nearby.
P. R.
A warm friendly welcome, very pleasant and helpful staff, shown to table straight away, found well laid out menu of delicious meals to choose from, also a good wine list. I've been here a few times now and never fails to please my guests.
s. f.
We had such a lovely meal here. The food was delicious & the staff were all so accommodating & friendly. Alice served us & she was so lovely & really helpful. Definitely recommend & we’ll be coming back soon!
K. S.
What a little gem! Staff are so friendly. We just had coffee and teacakes. But we'll be back to sample the lunch menu soon!
S. W.
Excellent italian restaurant in excellent location, opposite the White Hart Hotel and near the Cathedral and Castle.
We had a lovely early evening meal. Food was excellent and staff were very pleasant and efficient. We would certainly recommend.
J. R.
Great food and service. Never disappoints.
C. C.
Fantastic food in a lovely, cosy environment with great service. Highly recommended
B. B.
One To try, popped into this wee place while walking past, Had Salmon on toast and Scrambled Egg, absolutely lovely and reasonable price, nice ambience and great staff, would highly recommend 👌 👍
H. K.
WOW! This restaraunt is gorgeous. Came here on a wim without a booking and they fit us in. The food was stunning, service was amazing and the atmosphere was great. Overall great experience would highly recommend and definitely return if in Lincoln again!!
H. N. H.
To be honest disappointed...slow due to staff shortage but two mains arrived before starters then when starters arrived one was wrong so had to go back. Food itself was fine but overall experience was, as I said, disappointing. We weren't the only table where mains arrived before starters (couple on next table)....
K. M.
Popped in late afternoon for a quick bite. Food was delicious and service was exceptional.
A. W.
Sister had lovely seabass and risotto. I had homemade chicken leek pie.lots of chicken a little on dry side.but chips were cooked in old oil and had aftertaste.friendly staff.
N. R.
Waiters appeared in experienced. The soup of the day was delicious. Disappointed with the main as it contained onions but did not say that on menu. Not sure i would revisit
K. D.
Had another lovely meal this evening at Cafe Zoot. They have a great selection of gluten free options to choose from and the food was delicious as always. Big thank you to all the staff!
J. M. (.
Staff fantastic. Helpful, friendly, and bubbly. The food unfortunately did not live up to the quality of the staff.
An Italian restaurant running out of parmesan when almost every dish came with it shaved is not great.
Two tiny bits of toast for a huge portion of parfait, carpaccio of beef was actually salt beef not carpaccio. Wild mushroom bruschetta were only actually button mushrooms. Small portion of salmon even for a starter.
Pasta really missed the parmesan and consequently was bland. Pizza was very tasty though.
Overall food was meh. But staff were fantastic.
D. D.
Really enjoyed our meal at Zoot. We used the fixed price selection and there was still some good choices. Breaded brie and arancini were good. For mains we have mushroom risotto (tasty with a decent portion size) and fettuccini Bolognese (nice basic meaty sauce). For desert we wanted afogato and although it wasn't on the menu they did us proud!
M. S.
Very pleasant restaurant with an excellent menu and large choice of wine by the glass.
C. J.
Very friendly place with reasonable pricing. Fast service and amazing food, definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
S. A.
An excellent lunch from Café Zoot today. We had for different starters and four different main courses and all were of a very good standard. The free bottle of wine was a nice touch. We would certainly use them again.
R. A.
Great breakfast in very tastefully decorated surroundings.
L. S.
Brilliant gluten free menu
G. R.
Really nice food situated in a fantastic area! Great lunchtime deal and various options from a large menu. Would recommend.
W. S.
A very pleasant little establishment situated in the heart of Lincoln, a stone's throw from the cathedral. Service is efficient and polite, food is excellent - you're sure to leave full and satisfied.
c. l.
Absolutely lovely meal tonight. Good is lovely and service is great. Would recommend.
P. D.
A busy restaurant, good atmosphere with very efficient friendly service, you were never kept waiting long time between your courses despite the restaurant being busy. Not a massive menu, which in my opinion is a good thing, but still with plenty of choice. The food was very good, so much so we ate there on both the nights we stayed in Lincoln, so surely that says it all.
P. T.
Eating alone on a stopover. Everything was perfect. The service, the food, I even liked the background music. If I'm ever in Lincoln again I'll definitely go back to Cafe Zoot.
J. G.
Lovely atmosphere. 4 of us celebrating my birthday. steak was melt in your mouth, risotto was as delicious as the one I had in Italy, duck & lamb dishes were equally as delicious.can highly recommend Cafe Zoot.
P.
Enjoyed a lovely chicken and chorizo paella. Service good even though it was very busy. Superb chocolate dessert to finish. There are 2 types of meal deals on offer if you want a cheaper alternative. Good quality food.
G. H.
Called in on the off chance that there may be a table. The staff couldn't be more welcoming.
The food was ordered and the wine served. Very quickly followed by what I can only describe, as a pair of the nicest (and very reasonably priced) Sunday roasts I have seen in a long while.
Desert and cheese followed, all excellent along with the very friendly service. Thank you
Well worth the five ***** stars. Would make a beeline for this place if I am ever back in Lincoln again.
k.
This restaurant is modern looking and has a cozy atmosphere.
The Staff are very smart, friendly and efficient and the restaurant itself was spotlessly clean!
There were four of us, each choosing different dishes from the menu and we could not fault anything at all. The food was fresh, served hot and promptly and we all agreed exceptionally tasty!
All in all a wonderful dining experience and and we would all highly recommend Cafe Zoot! Excellent!
P. B.
Stumbled across this place and very pleased we did. Excellent food, really good value and friendly service. We'll definitely be back. Risotto was great and the lamb was excellent too! Also perhaps one of the best creme brulees I've had!
D. R.
Lovely full english and cup of tea. I would definitely go back for another.👍
g. B.
Lovely meal we both had pasta service very polite and friendly c19 procedure very well carried out apart from........ a young lady who apparently thought it was fine to come through the cafe with no mask on and a "cocky attitude "with just her grey coat belt over her mouth who we were later told was the manager!!! hence only three stars given
C. M.
Great place, great service, went there for a birthday meal with my parents and they loved it too, the chicken was slightly dry and you should never serve Port with ice in it personally, but otherwise everything was great 👍
A. E.
3-course Christmas menu £24.95. Choice of at least 5 or 6 items per course including traditional Christmas meal. Drinks on top. The place was busy and staff were efficient and polite. Food order in early evening was delivered quickly. Lots of offers of the black pepper mill whenever food was brought to the table. Staff were responsive and courteous. Meal served was very eatable and had appropriate flavours and textures. Would visit again.
E. B.
This was the first visit in over a year and we were part of a large party. The setting is lovely and there was plenty of room. Sadly I was disappointed with my main. I ordered the gluten free version of the zoot burger and the bun substitute was awful. Tough and chewy I didn't eat it. The dessert was lovely. The service was a little slow and drinks were ordered and never arrived. It was a real shame as previously we have enjoyed lovely meals here.
M. H.
Arrived late with no reservation. Staff found us a nice table for two. Meal arrived in good time. Main course salad was excellent and fish (bream) was excellent. Service was friendly and efficient. A very enjoyable evening for a first time visitor to Lincoln.
J. P.
Food was lovely and the staff were very pleasant and welcoming
F. H.
Lovely staff seated us very late and without a reservation, as our original plans had gone awry. Delicious food (possibly the best cheesecake I've ever eaten) and a very modest reckoning. Thoroughly recommend.
S. H.
Had a great family meal as we pit stopped in Lincoln for the night on our way to Cumbria for Christmas. The service was great, Jasmine paid real attention to our two boys and was so helpful. The food was great and the wine lovely and reasonable in price. The restaurant was full and the staff were busy but we didn't have to wait long for attention of food. We would defiantly recommend this lively and friendly venue.
J. R.
Good service and good value for money. Large portions for this type of restaurant especially with it being in the Bailgate. Would certainly visit again. Went in a party of approx 10 people. My friend who's birthday it was got a free main meal which she didn't expect. Starter and main course for £12.95 on certain dishes at lunchtime.
P. P.
Went here 4th November staff excellent music maybe not to everyone taste but to us fantastic more places should embrace zoots atmosphere well done to all and again big shout out to your staff
j. m.
For me it's still the best place to eat lincoln. But they need to understand how to cook and present a steak rather than just "cook" a steak . Would have been a 5 star if they got this right
T. C.
We have walked passed this restaurant several time and is always busy. We thought we would try it and arrived without a reservation. We were quickly shown to a table upstairs .The menu is quite comprehensive. Th3 staff are friendly and professional. Our starter arrived and we both enjoyed what we had ordered. The mains also arrived and I had choose the paella. It was nice though the peas were hard. Was pleased we been but not sure why it is so busy.
H. F.
Lovely little restaurant but unfortunately our visit was spoiled somewhat by the uncooked batter on our fish (fish and chips with mushy peas) and it cast a pall over the rest of the meal which, to be honest, was lovely. Even more disappointing was the apparent lack of interest from the .. owner? Especially as the place was recommended to us by a local retailer.
Apart from that little blip, Cafe Zoot is well worth a visit.
w. p.
We went today after my son and daughter in law married, they provided us with drinks within minutes and the service was quick and food excellent. The ladies in there made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We will be going back so thank you to all at Cafe Zoot!
J. E.
We came for breakfast and the place was very busy, which says a lot, however I was a little disappointed with the quality of the food. Firstly, my girlfriend ordered orange juice which was £2.50 for a glass and it wasn't even freshly squeezed juice.
I ordered the American breakfast which I thought was very average and lacked a certain quality you would expect fit somewhere such as this.
The staff were really good however and the waiting time was a minimum.
C. B.
Breakfast was very good and didn't wait long after ordering either! Would have given 5 stars but for mix up over bill!
a. f.
Really nice atmosphere, the service was really good and the food was lovely. Really good range of gluten-free food as well
G.
The service and the food was fantastic. The decor was all kinds of things. Some things were great and felt really luxurious, other things felt a bit out of context and more like 'filler furniture' due to different and less luxurious styles. But nothing to complain about.
Prices seemed fine. Not super cheap, not super expensive
My suspicions are that they are still trying to find the budget to completely refurbish everything and reach the end-game they have in mind.
All in all, definitely worth visiting. And if you were to become a regular, it might be nice to see this place blossom over time.
M. G.
Excellent. Attentive service complementing an attractive and reasonably priced menu. Wine averages £25 a bottle which is unheard of in these post-Covid times.
G. C.
I have heard so many good reviews about this place.....
I went with a friend and her little boy.
I was amazed at the portion size for the mount I paid. I was expecting a small glass of juice, but no... It was quite large. I was only expecting 1 croissant, nope, I got 2. BARGAIN!!!
It was also equipted for young children too.

My 4 friends had the Sunday roast of beef or lamb with enormous Yorkshire puddings @ £10.95. Everyone loved it.
I had the 2-course special @ £12.95. I chose Pan fried chicken livers flambé in brandy and Salmon salad. Livers were a tad tough but still juicy. Salad was great with lots of mixed vegetables and lots of smoked salmon.
Definitely recommend.

Located just up a side street between the cathedral and castle and considering it's prime location prices are incredibly cheap. Portion sizes aren't huge but what you get is well cooked and tasty. Me hand my wife always busy to start off our day in Lincoln. Great for couples and ladies who lunch. Staff always pleasant and smiling. Huge bonus if you can sit by the window and watch people from around the world visiting walk past.
J. C.
Had the lunchtime deal, 2courses for £12ish. I had chicken wings as a starter, my wife garlic mushrooms. Chicken wings were good, the garlic mushrooms not very garlicky. We both had fish and chips for main course. Not a generous portion but perhaps just enough. The fish and the batter was good but a little greasy.

So I went here when I was at University. Turned up with my two children (5 and 7 - who were very well behaved). It was unexpected, as it had changed so much. I turned up in shorts and t shirt, and felt well unaddressed.
Food was okay - but not expensive. For four of us it was about £80 which wasn't bad. The only reason I'm given 4 stars, as didnt rate the service. I had to ask for everything, the bill, another drink, parmesan, etc. Considering the small restaurant, I would probably be a bit more observant.

Fantastic place for a bite to eat in a very beautiful part of historic Lincoln. Advise booking ahead as it can get busy (and ask for a window seat if available). Have been a few times now and the food and service is impeccable. Particular favourites are the "Zoot"burger or "Zoot" scotch egg. Very reasonably priced for a two course meal with drinks. A real gem for the city. Make sure to pay a visit if you are in the area.
T. B.
Had a lovely me with my daughter, she had tomato and basil soup for starter, very good, chicken carbonara for main , SUBLIME, I had the kidneys for starter, lovely and the belly pork for main, best I have ever tried. Would recommend this restaurant but we we there at 6pm and were first guests and had no service issues at all even though it was much busier by the time we finished.
P. G.
Very good restaurant. Service just the right speed and very friendly. Menu small but all the better for it. Potted shrimps delicious. Very good burger. Sensible wine list. All for a fair price.
G. H.
Very nice meal here. Lovely place and friendly staff
P. R.
Booked here on a whim as we were staying in a local hotel, best decision we’ve made in a long time. The food was amazing, the service was amazing and if I lived closer it would be a weekly visit.if your near don’t miss out on the great value, great food and 1st class service definitely 5star
V. C.
Positives: Good location, pleasant staff, good portions
Negatives: Scrambled egg slightly watery,
Coffee; if you are going to serve coffee then learn how to make it, not the watery product that we given. Coffee should be strong and robust not thin and tasteless, there is no excuse. Further down the hill we had a perfect product.
A. G.
Called here for dinner, the staff were excellent the food was excellent. I would recommend the chicken and chorizo paella.
R. B.
Had a lovely meal as always, £12.95 for 2 courses and birthday boy went for free. Staff are nice and friendly. You can't go wrong. Recommend for a nice evening in the bailgate.
S. A.
Went for my grandaughters graduation meal cos it was near to the cathedral The menu was very restricted had nothing that was asked for . My lamb rump was pink couldn't eat it all Didn't really think much to the ice cream either Probably I'm too fussy! Been to better places for the price
B. b.
Delicious breakfast and coffee. Lovely way to spend Sunday morning. Small although did apparently have a room upstairs.
r. J.
Great service great menu, we went at lunch time so good deals on as well and staff couldn't have been nicer. Have always loved Cafe zoot and as always, we weren't disappointed
T. A.
Had some great breakfasts, scrambled eggs with 2 different types of bread, beautifully presented, very tasty and very filling. Staff helpful & friendly too. Looking forward to having lunch there next time I'm in Lincoln
p. p.
Very nice food and the service is good as well.
Highly recommend it .
J. S.
My wife two daughters and I called into zoot on a very busy bank holiday weekend. We had no reservation and was warmly received, the staff was really helpfull with milk and gluten free advice and wide range of choices for us. Two courses £12.95 each and large bottles of water £1.80 I thought was very reasonable. Will definitely be calling again.
G. E.
Not an American breakfast! Ordered the American breakfast which has "crispy bacon, sausage, french toast..." It all tasted very nice but the crispy bacon wasn't American style, it was the same as my wife's English back bacon, only not as crispy. The sausage was Lincolnshire not American sausage , which isn't actually a sausage but like a burger patie. The French toast wasn't toasty but limp. Still enjoyable but NOT an American breakfast! The waitress said she couldn't comment as she hadn't tasted one. Cappuccino was superb.
R. A.
Although from the outside it looks nice but nothing special.... The food and service is fantastic.
The front of the restaurant looks like a cafe, but it then has another area to the rear that is more intimate with subdued lighting....
A great experience....
R. S.
Just perfect.. in a really nice spot at the top of the Steep Hill. Very nice staff and the menu had some really interesting things on it. The food we had was excellent and inexpensive. Lots of gluten free options.
P. O.
Great food and drink and excellent service. We just fold the restaurant a little hot and wished the Aircon was more efficient
R.

Wasn't keen on the coffee. To strong for me.
J. S.
On how stay in Lincoln we had a meal in cafe zoot .it seamed a little place that was quite popular. Its resnerbly priced and the staff were very nice buy how fish was slightly overcooked for my liking.
e. s.
Food was lovely..but waiting for 40 mins after ordering breakfast.. and the coffee was cold when the food arrived.
M. v. R.
Nice place to visit for a relaxed meal. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was just right. The food was nice nothing outstanding thought. Reasonably priced too.
A. S.
Impromptu visit whilst in Lincoln, a random find which was a very pleasant experience. Quick, friendly and attentive service, excellent food (we had the 3 courses all which was very good) and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended and we will definitely be returning if in the area
A. J.
Great. Had a wonderful lunch instantly seated staff friendly, helpful and very attentive. Food excellent and of good quality ingredients very reasonable prices. Excellent
d. l.
Loved it. Popped in after a walk round the castle. Reasonably priced considering the prime location. Staff were polite and most importantly, the food was great.
C. G.
I'm a regular customer here and always very pleased with the whole dining experience. Food is always perfect, never a long wait and always great customer service. Starter and main for £12. Cannot go wrong
H. M.
Tried to enter but couldn't cos homeless dude assailed me for money and scared me off while I was reading the menu in the window. But it looked really nice and cozy inside and I thought the food smelled good before I made my retreat. 10/10
E. N.
Great food. Great service. Great background music! Would definitely return on next visit to Lincoln.
J. C.
Great food whether breakfast lunch or dinner and very friendly staff
S. B.
Very reasonably priced lunchtime menu (3 courses for £13.95), food was gorgeous (especially the bruschetta starter) and service was very quick and friendly. I would definitely go again next time I'm in Lincoln.

Terrific café. We had the lunchtime special: 2 courses.
The food was good and really nicely presented. The pudding was even better!

Always a big fan of this place. Affordable and lovely food, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. Good deals on food and cater really well for Gluten Free eaters.
S. S.
The feathered beef was delicious and reasonably priced. Service was friendly and prompt despite a very busy restaurant. In some areas of the restaurant seating is not spacious enough.
B. M.

Would try again
K. D.
Excellent food, great service at reasonable prices. Pleasant atmosphere, and, very good coffee to finish off with. Will definitely be going again.
J. S.
Lovely little gem of a restaurant. Wonderful food. Perfect portion size. Reasonably priced for high quality food. Friendly helpful staff
K. H.
The coffee was amazing, the best I have had in a long time! If I lived in Lincoln, Cafè Zoot would be the only place I would go to.
M. H.
It's an okay place but given the number of options in the Bailgate area there are better options for your money. Annoyed that the main course didn't come with vegetables which we were forced to buy as a side dish, from a choice of one. It turned out they weren't necessary and most were wasted. Also no beer options, choice of one larger that was it, which is no longer acceptable how hard is it to keep a small selection of bottled beers.
P. P.
Very nice food, reasonably priced and staff service okay. Did a good selection of breakfast offerings.
J.
Great and kind stuff, DELICIOUS FOOD, good prices, best restaurant around Lincoln Cathedral. Good selection of wine.
P. E.

G. J.

L. C.
Prices were good, atmosphere was great, waiting staff were really friendly but the gnochi was a little bland, could have done with some salad or more vegetables. Great little place though!
K. O.

Absolutely wonderful, we went for our 25th wedding anniversary. Lovely food, great service.❤️
M. F.
Tidy, clean and well organised they were even flexible enough to allow me to make my own cold dish. Delay in processing payment meant a loss of one star and a lack of soy milk for coffee lost another.
R. B.
Very busy night clearly unexpected but staff remarkably took it in their stride. A good meal at reasonable price.
S. B.
