Fabulous building full of history and charm good seating arrangements for a group of 11.
Our food was good I enjoyed the burger but we found the chips went cold quickly some crisp some had very soft. The unisex toilet on the first floor was particularly dirty around the toilet pan and general cleanliness. Payment was rather chaotic as no machine, but the young man dealt well once we went to the till.

Went for a meal on a Sunday evening, not over busy and great that they are a dog friendly pub.
The menu is a little limited as it was a Sunday, they do Sunday roast which looked very good but we unfortunately did not choose, I had trout this rice and broccoli which was very good, Jack had a burger which was excellent, the wife had fish and chips which was poor, the chips were all hard and undercooked and the fish was well overcooked, not great.
Will give it another go in the week as the staff were excellent and the service very good.

Food exceeded our expectations for a city centre pub. The chicken and ham pie with mustard seeds...a 'must have'! Cooked fresh, with mash and veg...very tasty. The burgers and hand cooked chips ....Guess what, that was good too! Great portion sizes too, so you will definitely feel like you have had your monies worth and tasty food ...also dog friendly. You must visit this pub if in Lincoln at any time. Betty served us and explained that she had taken over the pub 4 months ago.... thankyou for a fabulous service today. Will definitely visit again when next in Lincoln as prices were also good for what we had.

Fantastic pub, great atmosphere friendly helpful staff. I had a Sunday dinner and it was one of the best I've ever had additional tables and seating upstairs. Highly recommended.

My friends went to Steampunk festival pre Covid and raved about this place. We went tonight and found them right! All three dishes (we take Steak and ale pie, the Beef special and Fish pie) were absolutely lovely, the waiting staff was friendly and very welcoming and the whole experience was top-notch. Thank you!!!

When my wife and I travel, the culture, ambiance and food are all part of what make up our experience and this place checks every box and then some! Betty and Chris just operate a great pub near the Cathedral in Lincoln. GREAT ambiance, excellent food, exceptional service, cask ales, great wine and fun cocktails. We were in Lincoln for a week a (visiting choir at the Cathedral) and were so happy to discover the Wig and Mitre. The last time I was in Lincoln was in 2009 and this place has grown leaps and bounds. Locals frequent this pub for a reason and just meeting with people and hearing their story was special. We got to know the proprietors over the week and we were in for at least a pint every day. I recommend the soufflé, ham hock starter, the mussels and whatever the Chef has on special. I can't recommend this establishment more highly. My advice would be to talk to Chris and Betty or anyone else working there (Luke or Ollie were there throughout the week as well) and your experience will be something special. We also happened to be there during the 40's weekend and they booked an excellent singer (we ate and danced for hours). This place has been my best experience in the UK by far and if we lived in Lincoln it would be our daily pub!

Relentlessly excellent, we have dined and quaffed here several times. Good beers on tap and a good selection of vino, which is always a must for me. Not found a reason not to keep frequenting. Lovely spot even without a reservation. We even sauntered in during the Steam Punk weekend and were tabled without delay. To be fair, dressed as a vampire, service is usually prompt.
Good team. Good food. Good wine.
Bon appetite!

Excellent place for our Sunday lunch. As we only have small appetites the children’s portion roast dinners - one chicken, one pork - were exactly what was required. Very tasty and well cooked. As was the treacle tart for pudding (one portion, two spoons!). Thanks Richard and Chris for the prompt and friendly service.

06.08.2022 an evening meal booked to celebrate iur anniversary on a weekend city break to Lincoln.
Table and location in venue booked prior to visit following research beforehand. All of this met our request and wishes despite it not necessarily being convenient for the staff who had to make several trips upstairs where we were the only diners.
Initial perceptions of the staff were that they were very accommodating, pleasant, chatty and nothing too much trouble for them. They’d even left a card reflecting our anniversary without request etc.
The meal itself was served in good time, hot, as requested and well presented.
A good selection of beverages to accompany the meal.
We would highly recommend the ‘Wig & Mitre’ and would not hesitate to revisit on any future trips to Lincoln.
