Reviews of Byrnes Fish and Chips

4.5 stars. A proper chippy! Had Cod but shoulda had Haddock. Pretty good thin batter. Good quality fish and the chips done to a nice brown without being sloppy or too greasy.
My only bug bear is I think it might be cooked in "sustainable" oil which makes the chips skin tough like roast potatoes and lacked a bit of jennysaykwar. Sadly that loses a point on my aficionado-ometer.
Yorkshire uses dripping which is next level but the normal oil can still be crispy without skin effect me postulates...
Still top shelf though. I'm a picky lad of Fleetwood origin.
Next time I would try the fish fingers as they look great.

This is by far the best chippy I've been to. Fried Fish? excellent, chips? warm and tasty, value for money? yes. They do a cheese savory, naughty but nice. Friendly staff, obviously well versed in the fish n chips game and very reasonable prices.

Jumbo portions and fresh fish.
Made to order but is worth the wait.
Its a takeaway place but I would recommend to eat it straightaway and enjoy the fish (haddock in our case) at its best!

We travel from hunts cross to visit Byrne's on a now and again basis. They are easily among the best chips I've experienced in Liverpool. I'd advise getting there around opening time because it does get very busy.

Went here back in September. We were here as tourists and read about Byrne’s being the best and they absolutely live up to that. I’ve never liked fish and chips (I’m from the USA) and this blew my mind. It’s been almost four months and I still think about the fish. Not my favorite style of chips, but that’s just personal preference, though that fish was *next level*. The staff were very kind to us and patient with us as we struggled with the Liverpool accent, and we’re very grateful for that. Shoutout to Anna and the neighborhood kids. You all are adorable! <3

Food is superb but £11 for a fish dinner ? Come on, it used to be a cheapish meal but thats restaurant prices. Good job it was decent sized portions. Not value for money though at those prices.

Their chips are cooked in veg oil without any fish or meat and their curry is vegan friendly.
