Lovely restaurant and food, I had a large table booked 22 of us the staff we're amazing couldn't do enough for us and thank you to Amy who got us all a table overlooking the river mersey we will definitely be back 🤗

Very noisy place, so forget about having a sweet romantic time with your other half! (We tried at least...) Food is well presented and tasty, we have been surprised by some of the dishes and the creativity from the cuisine team. Staff is trying to do their best in this noisy environment and they will look after you. Nicely located, just few steps away from the Beatles statue and just boarding the Mersey river . Weather permitting, you might want to get to the terrace and enjoy the view on the Liverpool Docks.

Just come from the restaurant we had a lovely experience. There was 8 of us and we all enjoyed the delicious food. The staff were absolutely brillant and created a very peaceful environment. Nothing was to much trouble for them My only little issue was the service charge which meant we couldn't give our servers a direct tip. Will definitely visit again. Thank you for a lovely day

A fancy restaurant overlooking the water. Pricey but it matches the quality of service and food. They really mean ‘Asian’ restaurant because you can choose cuisine from Thailand, China to Malaysia. Amazing atmosphere and decor, very picture worthy! I was impressed to find this gem during my travel in Liverpool so it was a nice surprise to enjoy food while admiring the view from the top floor. This would be an amazing spot for parties and fancy dates. Highly recommend.

We were recommended this restaurant but were sceptical having read recent reviews but decided to go anyway. We are so glad we did. Such a lovely setting, the food was gorgeous and the service excellent. It’s not cheap (but cocktails at £9 it isn’t extortionate either) but the ambience is worth it. If you want cheap go to a chain restaurant

We have just recently been to matou for the second time and again, it didn't disappoint. The food is out of this world! Served quickly and efficiently but not rushed. The restaurant itself is quite large and covers plenty of seats but even though this is the case, the staff are friendly, professional and very efficient. The interior has huge windows with great views overlooking the Mersey and Wirral. There is also a fantastic terrace bar outside opposite the liver building. Overall a very pleasant, tasty and pleasing experience on both occasions..... I can't wait to go back again!

We have been coming to Matou for years, usually for a special occasion like birthdays as it is sightly on the more expensive side. But it’s 100% worth it! The views are amazing, staff are really friendly, fast service and unreal food. Highly recommend the starter platter, spicy seafood udon and Thai red curry. We say every time we come, we can’t fault Matou and that’s the reason we keep coming back and always will

Meal for four on Bank Holiday Monday evening. Requested a window table when booking and luckily one was available although it was quiet but it was a Monday. Service was excellent, attentive but not fussy, and more importantly the food was fantastic - in fact the set meal was so much we asked to take home which was boxed-up without complaint. Weather didn't let us sit outside for after-dinner drinks but will be back hopefully when that can change. Prices are on high side but can't thing of a better setting for a special occasion

Amazing place; I ordered the Asain ribs and they were to die for. Great food presentation, quick delivery, beautiful setting, friendly staff and great views. The cocktails served here are some of the best in Liverpool, gorgeously presented and taste amazing. Roof terrace with direct views of the city with the liver buildings right in front of you, lovely place to have a cigarette and relax. Ended up staying most of the night and ordering drinks to the terrace. Reasonable prices for such a beautiful venue. Thinking of going back this weekend.

We had to reserve a table for the 5 on a Saturday night because the place was full. The real strength of this place is its superb customer service from arrival to departing they will cosset you. Wide and varied menu with a lot standard dishes " Thai green curry etc" but many surprises too . Comfortable with excellent views over the Mersey and the Liver building / the 3 Graces. Reasonably priced by any city restaurant standards , clean toilets and easy lift access for the less fit or able bodied. An Eastern jewel !

Myself and partner went here recently and it was a lovely meal. Couldnt tell you what the view is like as it was pitch black pouring down and foggy! Definitely be a fab view in the day time tho. Giving this four stars. Had a great banquet meal. One of the dishes was fish which was over cooked and tough as the soul on my shoe. When asked to send it back I was questioned which made the situation awkward. Eventually they replaced this with another dish which was great. Service was good apart from that moment. Ate off the a la carte menu at lunchtime which was a bit expensive, should have got there earlier for the lunchtime menu but food and service were excellent. Nice all fresco area for drinks, cocktails or coffees. Highly recommend.

Fantastic place. We/I mixed up the time of our booking, believing we were booked in at 7:30pm when we were actually booked for 7pm. I gave them a ring at about 7:20pm to ask if we would still get our table and they told us no worries. When we arrived the place was heaving but they'd kept our table and brought food over with minimal delay. The food was delicious. We ordered a banquet for the 4 of us and they were willing to swap dishes from other banquet menus. Afterwards we had a couple of drinks in the bar looking out on to "the three graces" and again were served promptly (although it was close to 11 at this point and the bar was not busy). I highly recommend Matou to anyone looking for delicious, slightly-different-from-the-usual food.

The food is absolutely cooked to perfection, never late with serving the meals, friendly atmosphere, even better during the summer time as you can sit outside on the balcony, enjoy the meal whilst falling in love with view. Perfect!

Great location, view, environment, service, and food. All their waiters are very friendly and helpful. They are always there when you need them. One of the waiters even took the initiative and offered to warm up our baby's bottle milk when we were trying to figure out a way to do that. I would recommend it to anyone who visits Liverpool.

I can't tell you all how good the food is here. It's five stars all the way but the service was nothing more than poo at best. We booked a table for 14 people. From arrival there had been a mix up with the booking and we where made to feel unwelcome and from that moment forth they could wait to get rid of us. The food was oved priced but I guess youre paying the the stunning view and It's romantic location. Highly recommend going during sunset! I have only been here once but a lot had gone wrong that evening. The restaurant wasnt even that busy enough to excuse these issues so this is why I'm only giving it 3 stars. One of the soups were luke warm and needed reheating. Then had a fly jump into that same soup because the windows were left open during sunset. The view, interior and staff was the only great thing here as they were kept on their toes and with all the things going wrong on other tables they still managed to pull through and maintain a positive composure.

Matou is a very good restaurant, and it has great views of the Mersey. The service is a bit perfunctory but not bad, however the food is excellent. Weather permitting, you can sit outside on the terrace and look over Liverpool, or you can sit inside and look out over the river. Whichever you choose you won't go wrong (well, assuming you get a window seat inside). As a stop on a Liverpool day tour, I highly recommend it
