Service was quick and staff were super helpful. There's loads of options which means this is an ideal place for groups. We tried 8 dishes as the extensive menu meant it was difficult to choose! The steak, calamari, nasi goreng and chocolate cake were the stand out options, all cooked perfectly and full of flavour. The ribs weren't very good but the staff were more than happy to listen to our feedback and also swapped the dish without hesitation. Worth a visit, if you get the chance

If any word could be used to describe this place, it would be "quaint". A stone's throw away from James Street station, it's a convenient little spot to eat. Regrettably, the building next to Silk Road had scaffolding/fencing, and the signage outside didn't feel like a restaurant. On a Monday evening, the restaurant was a little lacking in atmosphere, with only 2 other tables in a large dining room. The food, however, was another story. Some dishes were exceptional. Stand-outs include the chicken satays, which were notably moist, and the lamb shoulder stew, which had incredible depth of flavour. The nasi goreng was very interesting, too. The portion-size of the chips were excellent, but it lacks the truffle-flavour expected of "truffle and parmesan" chips. However, there were some dishes that weren't exceptional. The white-pizza was a little too "creative", leaning into the territory of weird, with a sickly-sweet base of caramelized onions and extremely sweet balsamic glaze. The aubergines were very bland, and the sea-bass dish was fried so it lost a lot of the delicate taste/flaky-texture of bass. It would probably go better with fresher greens (pureed spinach, for example) as a pan-seared dish, and the aubergines would probably be a better dish charcoal-grilled as slices instead of luke-warm chunks. Overall, 3.5 stars. The outside environment and lack of atmosphere on a Monday marred the experience, but there were enough exceptional dishes to warrant a return. There are some dishes that should be avoided (or otherwise cooked differently and improved), but there are other dishes that are to die for. A restaurant with very good potential, and excellent value for money.

Lovely restaurant, as previous reviewer has said the back entrance by the docks does not reflect the venue. Good choice of reasonably priced tapas that has a nice mix of tradition Spanish dishes and those with an Asian twist. Good relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant and staff very friendly and attentive. Definitely worth a visit if in Liverpool.

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Please do not be put off from the outside, cans and rubbish on the steps but this is no fault of the restaurant. Four of us shared Tapas it was outstanding such a vared menu something for everyone, plenty of different drinks and the coffee was excellent. Chilled atmosphere, we sat outside under parasols as it was quite sunny and the staff accommodated our request to be out of sun though table booked was originally in the sun. Nice food. Booked a table for 12 people on Saturday 13th November. This was a reunion of friends from England Ireland and Wales. We pre ordered all our food. Well all I can say is absolutely amazing!!! Our waitress Annette was so lovely just so sorry we missed her to say thankyou as we left. Every single one of us enjoyed all our food. It all came out together piping hot and beautifully presented. I think we literally had a dish from the whole menu!! The blonde girl who served our food was lovely too. Thankyou so much we will be back soon. (PS: Sorry if we were too loud!!)

Silk Road is such a great place to go if you like good food, excellent service and a relaxed 'please yourself' environment. We had a selection of Tapas including the lovely black butter prawns which I will dream of when hungry...The quality of the food and service was really good. The price, if you book in advance- is half price-we had 6 Tapas between us and a decent bottle of Pinot Grigio for under £40. I don't bother writing reviews usually but this place really deserved a mention. Thank you!

We ended up going here because all of the places we tried on Castle Street were fully booked or had enormous queues and as we walked down the road in hungry resignation we spotted Silk Rd with no queue and thought we'd give it a try! We were seated straight away and all of the staff we spoke to were very friendly and helpful. The food and drinks were brought quickly, though we never felt hurried, and the food was really good! The katsu chicken bao buns were particularly delicious. All in all we had a really nice meal and even though we hadn't planned to go here we would in future.

it was wonderful. Very reasonably priced given the quality of what we had. My particular favourites were the slow cooked ox cheek which was incredibly flavoursome and just melted in the mouth. The other amazing dish was the disco cabbage... which appeared to just be half a cabbage that had been baked... but there must be more to it than this because I am not normally a fan of cabbage but could eat plate after plate of this.

This is a little bit of a hidden gem, mainly in the business district of town. The food was of fantastic quality, and the range of food available is exceptional. The menu has a cultured vibe, covering a wide range of cuisines from multiple cultures based around those found on the silk road. Came up from nottingham for a birthday day / night out we chose to eat here as it was walking distance from our hotel and I am so happy we did the service was 100% spot on Joe our waiter was amazing with everything he even brought me a slice of cake and ice on the house for my birthday... the food was out of this world so fresh full of flavour and came out to the table in a very good time had a 3 year old with us who was given crayons to keep him busy and his chicken wings where made with no spice so he could eat them the meal was very well priced and just like to say would 100% recommend this place and if we come back to Liverpool this place will be part of the trip again

Very nice restaurant which specialises is tapas style food from countries on the old 'Silk Road'. The restaurant has an extensive reasonably priced menu. The staff are very friendly and take the time to discuss any dietary/allergy needs. Also has a good range of wines and beers. Our party included a number of young children and they where provided with crayons and colouring books to keep them entertained whilst the food was being prepared. Would recommend this place.

Silk Road is a unique restaurant which is placed in the heart of the city. The menu is unique and offers a wide range of tapas foods from Asian to Eastern European and each dish has a unique flavour and taste. I would highly recommend the beef salad, which tastes gorgeous. The staff are very friendly, and this makes for a very enjoyable and relaxing dining experience. It can get busy at weekends, so it is worth booking a table!

Average dining experience. The waiters were attentive and even ran out the door to return our left behind goods. However, I wouldn't rate the food too high. If you have travelled specially to those culinary places or have dined in restaurants that specializes in the cuisine they offer: Malaysian, Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese and etc, you will find Silk Rd offers a subpar dining experience. We ordered 5 dishes between the 2 of us and we really only enjoyed one at best- the cauliflower steak. The others such as the fish, the lamb and etc were way below standard. I would recommend this place to people if you want a taster of what food Asia has to offer but if you are like us who has travelled to those places specifically and knows what Asian food has to offer, it's best to avoid it.

Booked for a birthday meal and our first time Saturday evening, we were really looking forward to it. When we arrived it was immediately apparent that they were incredibly busy, no time for any chat straight to your table. We ordered our drinks, first disappointment was that they had none of their own draught beer. Having not been before we don't have much clue of any of the dishes or potion sizes, i asked the waitress about some dishes, sadly all the fillet steak dishes had sold out, I had decided to build my order around this dish and struggled with what else to order, I don't eat lamb and there were any chicken options that wasnt in some kind of curry dish. I ended up ordering beef rendang, chicken and chilli mango, both came with rice, to be fair it was mostly rice and really bland it really needed seasoning and extra meat it only came witj 2 pieces of beef in the curry! I also ordered the cauliflower steak, this was okay but also lacked seasoning and again i found really bland considering the ingredients, just not what I'd expected. Because it was so busy most dishes were served all together, this meant they were sat going cold which was a shame. My partner ordered lamb lollypops and duck bao bun and Turkish meatballs. To be fair the bun was delicious as were the meatballs, we shared an halluomi light bite which was also nice. He ordered better than me on this occasion. I'd go back but perhaps when its not so busy, there was a massive queue for loos as only one ladies available upstairs. I didnt look downstairs as seated upstairs. It was a nice looking restaurant and im sure on another occasion it could be much better. There were lots of birthdays by the sounds of it and it was fully booked so maybe just a blip. For 2 we paid £80 including 2 drinks each. Quite alot we thought under the circumstances. Better luck next time, we'll maybe try a different venue...
