A reasonable chain pub handy for Broadgreen Hospital & main road in & out Liverpool. Food was to a.reasonavle standard & a good choice of drinks all well priced. Outside seating area & parking right outside. Would recommend.

We used to live around the corner, so we'd visit the Turnpike pretty frequently. Went again today with our 3 year old. Food was as lovely as ever, really tasty. Service was nice and friendly, lovely atmosphere and in general just a all round nice experience. We won't leave it so long before coming back in future.

Used to eat here often when we first moved to the area and the food was lovely. Ate here yesterday and was disappointing. My partner gave me a 1st and 2nd choice of meal. I went to the bar to order and both of his choices were off the menu. I ordered chilli con carne. It came in what looked like a large pasta bowl and was runny chilli with hardly any meat and all running into the rice. There were no tortilla chips but when I asked for some they brought a bowl of them straight away. I had ordered a side of sweet potato fries and without these I would have still been hungry. On a positive note, the staff were all lovely and helpful.

Went here this afternoon for a meal. Couldn't fault it. The meals were all hot and cooked to how we asked. Portion sizes were brilliant. Four meals, 1 glass of coke, 1 bacardi and coke, half a lager and a pint of lager and lime and it all came to £44. Excellent value for money. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Lovely, friendly and cosy environment. Although it was busy we didn't have to wait as long as we were told. I honestly and truthfully cannot fault this pub. We will definitely be visiting here again. The Turnpike is a family friendly pub with good parking facilities and great access for the disabled. Definitely recommend this for anyone wanting to go for either a quiet drink or a meal. I really can't praise this place enough. Thank you to all of the staff both at front of the house and also in the back in the kitchen. Well done!

If you like lager then there are about 7 types to choose from, zzzzz, if you like IPA and craft beers avoid as they have none,not even in bottles. Only beer close was Doom Bar and this hasn't been available for weeks.

Gorgeous welcome, as warm as the fabulously heated radiators! Had food here which was really tasty and the bar well stocked, although we were warned that there was a wait, didn't take long. Staff throughout were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The only downside was a large group of adults with young children who were far too drunk to make sure they were OK- however this was swiftly and professionally dealt with by the staff here (how this didnt escalate is again, testament to how this was handled at the time). We will definitely be back and are looking forward to our next visit

Had an amazing day/evening here food was excellent and the staff were so accommodating to all our needs. Even the manager came over and showed a personal interest into how me and the family enjoyed our experience. Can’t rate the chef more highly as he/she cooked my blue steak to absolute perfection which I might add very few pub chefs can do this. So to sum my visit up good value for money good food and nice polite staff. 5 stars all round will deffo be back.

The service was great, nice atmosphere, loads of tables spare. We ordered on the app, again maybe that's why it was quick. I got crispy chilly beef, came on a sizzler plate, lovely and hot. Came with rice, extra sauce and a huge prawn cracker. The portion size was good, too much for me but it didn't go to waste, my partner ate it, as his portion was only small. He had chicken and ribs on a sizzler came with chips, onions and pepper looked lovely, he said it was OK, hence finishing mine. Anyway, overall it was OK, not in any hurry to go back.

Meals 2 4£10 excellent value. GAMON WAS COOKED TO PERFECTION. Can't go wrong with Cocktails 2 4 £6.50 Cheeky Victoria delish. Our waiter was very attentive n friendy nothing too much trouble. Booked for my daughter's birthday. Some of us had received our food and had finished it by the time the others received theirs. Steak was asked for well done and still had blood in. One of the mixed grills the sausage didn't look cooked. Most of the meals we had had onions on but they were very soggy. They seemed short staffed, but were trying to accommodate all customers.

We ate here on 17th August, booked a table for 5 for lunchtime. The Manager greeted us at the door and checked us off the booking list. We were seated promptly and given menus and information regarding ordering. We ordered 2 starters and 5 mains with 5 drinks all ordered at the bar. We waited only 30 minutes asking for the complete order to come out together. Everyone was so helpful, the food was excellent and freshly prepared. We did benefit from the 50% offer as we visited on a Monday but we will definitely be returning...the staff were really organised and even though there were limited staff all the tables were being dealt with efficiently and cleared promptly.

Pendemic rules applied, a little bit awkward ordering on your phone, sticky tables ( probably from poor antibacterial cleaners leaving residue), food was nice, steak was cooked perfectly and was a quality cut, great prices, friendly with plenty of parking too.

This pub is clean tidy and socialy distanced. Many options. Kids menu free suaces including ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, brown suace and vinger. Don't go between 1PM and 1:30PM because the delivery truck comes with fresh food 35-50min wait!

Fabulous menu with several specials through the week and at weekends. The half chicken in a choice of sauces is especially nice, the menus caters for the fussiest of eaters with the friendly staff willing to further assist with fussy eaters, of whom I am one!! Great beer & wine selection as well as pub games to amuse the kids. All in all a cheap, 5 star health rated establishment where drinks and an average meal for a family of 4 comes in at just under £30 one can not complain!!! Well deserving of a 5 star review in my humble opinion. The Reviewer

We had a lovely New Years Eve at the Turnpike. There was just the right amount of people in the pub, the atmosphere was so relaxed. The staff are so efficient and very pleasant. It was a pleasure to bring in the New Year with them.

We have been tonight to take my mother in law for tea it was 18.00 when we arrived but all tables were taken but didn't have to wait long for a table opened a tab had drinks and ordered food and waited half 1hr for food in which we were told this didn't put us off cause my wife had been in work all day and niece had a hard day in school sorting out her subjects. We always have a good night it was enjoyable evening cannot fault all staff they work hard to please everyone well done and thanks again for a good night and got a lift home by family member too.

Mostly good experiences but once ordered two fish and chip meals, we got a battered fish tail each and then they told the next customer to order fish and chips there was none left. We obviously got the last two bits of fish left in the freezer. We were asked if everything was ok but not the kind of place you want to cause a fuss. Would go again but not expecting fine dining just meat and a pint. Needs real ale to compete with spoons.

Great menu, good choice, reasonably priced and fast service along with plenty of good deals if you sign up on their website. They have Wi-Fi to save your data allowance which is a big plus with me & my data hungry children's iPad's !! It would get 5 stars however there have been times we have waited an age for your order but this is rare so a solid 4 stars!!
