Came with my girlfriend for a walk round the docks and something to eat. They were busy here but managed to get up a table. Staff were extremely professional and the restaurant was nicely laid out. I had the Yankee burger being a big fan of burgers. Fantastic. Burger. Onion rings as a side were OK. No idea what the sauce was what came with it. Great meal overall.

Fantastic location on the Albert Dock and the decor is really cool. This is a wonderful restaurant the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly with staff working as a team to provide excellent service but service was still a little slow. The food was fantastic and tasted great, the children's meals was presented with equal care as adult dishes. Overall a decent place to relax and chill :-)

I went to What's Cooking as they offer vegan options. I had the bean chili nachos which were delicious. My son had a chicken burrito which he enjoyed. The pear cider was the best I've tasted. The staff were polite,friendly and helpful. I will definitely return.

Great location and large restaurant bar with a good atmosphere and some seating outside overlooking the dock. It wasn't very busy, but we didn't have a member of staff looking after us, just several different staff. After being seated with our menus there was a long wait till I managed to get someone's attention for service. It didn't get any better we had sharing beef chilli nachos as our starter. It was too sweet for me, like a sweet chilli sauce. Lots of nachos,. Some cream, beef, olives and hardly any jalapenos. When we got our bill there were two other mains and a child's meal on it!?

A perfect lunch place! The dishes are super tasty, look wonderful but beware of the portion sizes. THEY ARE HUGE! Its a bit on a pricier end, but the size of dishes! Just get one for two if you're not super hungry. Its a very nice place altogether. The interior is cool, nice music, very polite and kind staff. Would recommend to anyone. The only downside is that they don't habe many draft ale/beer options, but the bottled ales are fine as well. We'll visit again when we're back to liverpool.

We visited several times while we were staying in Salthouse Dock on our boat. Very friendly waiters and waitresses. Outside seating area very dog friendly. Great food and very good service. I would highly recommend. Thanks for the brilliant service guys. Great setting too.

For a first time visit to Liverpool and the Albert Docks, this place was brilliant. The service was speedy, food and drink was fantastic and the staff were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about what they had to offer on the plates. Would highly recommend going, and dare say I'll visit again in the (hopefully) not so distant future.

Eaten here many times before and had a great time/experience. Food good, ambience and service exceptional, however, today wasn't so great. The fries and hotdog were served cold to my child and the coke was flat so we asked for bottled coke, not an unreasonable request, but the waitress looked annoyed at our request took our glasses and returned with bottled coke. No apology, just a stroppy look on her face as she put them on our table. Not impressed. Yet, my husband tipped her!

A warm welcome, very reminiscent of a less decorated Hard Rock Café, cobble stone flooring (wear flats!) Fairly expensive for portion size I had a vegan burger which was 'OK' but not hot, I think the reheating of prepared vegan burger was insufficient. Partners burger went down very well. I'm not a great fan of brioche buns with burgers (sugar content) a good crusty roll or sesame seeded bun far better. Fries were just fries sprinkled with 'some seasoning'. Warm chocolate brownie tasty, one serving, two spoons good portion. No flavoured gins or even Bombay Sapphire. Coke Zero was offered as caffeine free... which it is not BTW! Entrance doors very stiff difficult for disabled people to push through. Toilet cubicals were narrow, but Toilet facilities very clean and fresh.

Attentive service and great quality food served in this comfortable and warm atmosphere. The booth/table was private and quiet and perfect for a relaxing early evening meal. Busy but not crowded the venue was welcoming with subdued lighting and quirky decor. Everyone was happy with their food and good value for generous portion sizes. 1st time trying this place, after walking up and down the docks looking for places to eat. Whilst it remained dry there was a cold breeze and with lockdown, we had no choice but to eat outside. Soooo we tried to find the cosiest place to eat. These guys had individual, external wooden framed booths, which had heaters in them, so boom 💥 that sold it for me! I rinsed them of their electric lol they stay on for a few minutes at a time, maybe 5 minutes, before going off but you press the button and hey presto, there is heat! Don't be put off though, we didn't feel like we were pressing it alot, even though we were. You pay at your table by scanning your QR code which takes you to a site to browse the menu and make payment. You hit your table number in and jobs a guden. Note: My signal was appalling trying to order even though it said 4g so hook your phone up to the free docks WiFi and it will save you the heart attack we nearly had thinking we were charged twice as it froze 😐 the food was fast, the waitresses were nice and the food was delightful! We paid £31 and so many pence for the two of us. We had a latte, apple juice, double cheeseburger and fries and a bowl of nachos with sauce. The nachos were loaded high and the sauce was throughout, not just on the top layer so definately worth it. Pic attached. We polished that off realllllllllly well! Definitely will hit this place up again in future living so close by. Shame they didn't take my bluelightcard though for discount but this didnt affect anything about our experience. Cheers guys :)

Went here for lunch with my wife and daughter. Between us, we had burgers (both vegan and beef) and a fajita. We all really enjoyed the food, and I must say the fries were some of the best I've ever had. Add in the efficient but friendly service and I think it's safe to say we'll be back next time we're in the area. Highly recommended.

The good: View is lovely especially in the evening sitting outside when the fairy lights on the pillars are lit and reflect upon the water. It can however be a bit chilly as it was for us...it is however shared by all the restaurants here and we ended up wishing we'd picked another one. They have wooden booths in which to eat however contrary to what others have said these were entirely unheated and we were therefore chilly. Also smokers at neighbouring tables meant we were stuck passively breathing cigarette smoke for much of the time. Unintended side effect of the smoking ban I suppose, we were glad when some chain smoking people at a neighboring table moved on. Food etc: Mediocre food at comparatively expensive prices - the garlic bread is simply on chiabata bread despite being similar price to what you might pay for a large garlic pizza bread elsewhere (felt vastly overpriced). No option to order it without cheese if, like me you don't like cheese. Southern fried chicken goujons were dry and the coating was pretty uninspiring - not quite sure what it was as didn't appear bread crumb based. Didn't finish them anyway. Thin crispy french fries were good. Biscoff freakshake a little bit of a disappointment having tried my fair share of biscoff shakes etc at different places this one unfortunately ranks worse. £2.30 also only gets a pathetically small half pint of pepsi. A little effort was made delivering the food on wooden platters presentation wise... but the food itself was pretty underwhelming. Wouldn't go back on the basis of the food. Service: So I asked for my garlic bread without cheese, which meant I had to complete order on the website via QR code then find a server and physically tell them how I wanted the food...and cross my fingers it would work... I also asked for our food all together as the only starter we'd offered was garlic bread and only one of our party had ordered it ..they gave us the garlic bread without cheese, as requested, but on its own and the rest of the party basically had to watch one person eat before being served their own food. The freskshake came with only one spoon to eat the cream despite being offered by a couple (so usually they'd give you two) and no straw whatsoever with it...we had to use the one from the tiny pepsi, they also forgot to bring enough cutlery, gave us only one sachet of ketchup initially and were generally inattentive. One positive thing to say. Despite the drink being pathetically small they gave us a proper old school plastic straw. That was, at least, very much appreciated given it's almost impossible not to get these horrible paper ones that go soggy these days....shame they didn't give us any straw with our milkshake. Wish more places would could still do this but the rules against single use plastics seem to have stopped almost everywhere doing it. Overall I wish I'd picked any of the other places along the docks and won't be going back here. Neither the food nor the service was great and our bill was almost the same as we paid at the amazing and more upmarket feeling Indian place Mowgli's a couple of days before. This is drastically overpriced and not tremendously good pub food with poor service. Everyone can have an off day service wise of course. For the first time in a long time we didn't tip. My suggestion - go elsewhere.

Good place to visit if you find yourself walking around the great city of Liverpool. Service very good, food tasty but my food was not hot when it arrived at my table. Good choice of beers though. I have visited this particular restaurant on several occasions. Historically the food and service etc have been good, this may have been just an off day.

Cons-Was slightly disappointed today that there was an hour wait on food even though we'd prebooked and they only told us this information after bringing our drinks over as by then you have no choice but to wait as your already committed. I thought the food menu was quite limited. Both of our burgers and chips where very greasy to the point that the paper on the plate ended up practically see through. The food and drinks where very expensive compared to other restaurants near by. Pros- the vegan burger that I ordered was one of the best veggie choices I have had. The music and atmosphere was good and the staff were all fabulous

Team very friendly & helpful. Very quick service. Cleanliness of the restaurant were great, couldn’t complain. Wait time for food were roughly 15 minutes. Loved the presentation of the food Recommend the garlic bread with cheese for starter. The chilli con carne could of done with more flavour to it and if your after a lite bite with good flavour then I wouldn’t recommend the chicken house sandwich as that was very bland. Wouldn’t let it put me off returning though as there was plenty more to choose from!!

Great location. We ate in a booth outside on the dock front. Food and drinks service was fast. At first my daughter who is ten thought the childrens meal was too small but it was fine. American style restaurant in the UK but not as good as the real thing — please don’t assume American restaurants are this bad based on the food here because they’re not. The fries here were cold and soggy. Definitely frozen and not great. The tofu appetizer had a nice flavor but needed sauce on the side. Spouse had the burger with fries. Same situation with the fries and the burger was dry. Waitresses are young, nice but honestly it was degrading that they had to wear tight leggings/stockings as their work attire (kind of like Hooters in a way but covered though very revealing since their shirts are tucked in so the tights show everything). In the end they took our plates but no one cane by for 10 minutes for us to ask for the bill. There are better restaurants in town. I’d choose another next time. Bathrooms were clean but the door swings open where the mirror is so it’s dangerous.

Brilliant cocktails at good prices, friendly attentive staff and a lovely little outside terrace. The terrace has a lovely quiet atmosphere and was in perfect position to enjoy the sunshine in august. The terrace is shared with the adjoining bar but this wasn't an issue at all. Will definitely visit again.

We love What’s Cooking and have been coming to this little gem of a place for years. BBQ ribs are an absolute must in their own fresh made sauce and meat flaking off the bone. The Nachos are also something to be admired although a minimum two people to tackle this mammoth portion. The burgers are as good as I’ve had anywhere else. Wife usually gets the Cajun Salmon which she raves on about. Only gripe she has is the bed of vegetables being a little over cooked. (Always has to be something) Staff are generally very pleasant and helpful and the restaurant itself clean and tidy with amazing views over the Albert Dock and Liver Buildings.

Did it really take 1 1/2 hr to get a plate of nachos and a portion of chicken wings? 45 mins. in the waiting we chased up how long before we got served, then asked 2 other servers well and truly within the hour who kept our hopes high with , it’s on its way, ready in two min. Meanwhile we watched as customers left and others came , got served before us. We also watched as the hard working manager passed by us to serve and collect/clear tables. The flow of customers was constant but not rushed. We finally collared the manager and told him our predicament which he followed up. Someone came to let us know that our orders never got to the kitchen despite us paying upfront when we put in our order. So I can only guess all those we had asked didn’t really check up on our food order but rather fobbed us off or fibbed. To give credit to the manager even without us asking, they gave us our meal (very delayed) and refunded payment and profusely apologised for the oversight. I was thankful for their action, but in hindsight I would have preferred my time not wasted on waiting. It would have been silly to have got up, get a refund then queue up and wait for food order somewhere else but we just stayed calm and cool. The moral of the story is always make sure the server checks your order has reached the chef and not fob u off.

Staff were helpful and friendly, all covid safe. You are greeted and seated then menu and order if via their website which you access via a QR code on your table. Food was fresh, hot and delicious and drinks were really good! I had 4 cocktails that tasted good and strong which were less than £8 each. Came to £73 for both of us with 6 alcoholic drinks, 1 soft drink, a sharing platter and 2 mains - really reasonable for the area and the food quality!

Restaurant wasn't really busy at the time, so don't know what caused this delay. Food as food, nothing surprisingly new, standard meal. I'm finding £9,95 for a glass of (500ml but half filled with ice) Long Island a bit expensive. At least it was strong, lol!

15th July. Brilliant, friendly service from Alise and Charlotte, they were prompt and attentive without ever being intrusive, thank you girls. The food was good and fairly priced. Certainly we would recommend a meal here.

Visited during an afternoon out. They didn't have space when we first went, so went for a wander and returned a bit later (so my advice there is to book) When we got there we were shown to a table and explained to that we would order via the website, which was unusual, but extremely easy to do. We had nachos between 3 of us for starters, and was just the right amount, and very tasty, my main was the scooby snack burger, with chilli beef fries. It was amazing. So full of flavour and filling, I struggled through it because it was so nice. Price wise, pretty average too, £67 for 3 of us, soft drinks only but with a side of onion rings as well (again, enough to share). Definitely would head back here if I went to Liverpool again :-)

Started the day off here with an amazing breakfast, very friendly and welcoming staff and atmosphere. Its popular and can be quite busy so we got there early but it was worth it and you won't be disappointed. Good menu and large portions, I'm a big breakfast guy and even I didnt clean my plate. Booths are are nice touch and you don't feel hemmed in like some places even when its busy.

Unfortunately due to us being pushed for time we didn't have time for dessert.The restaurant itself was cosy clean and had a good atmosphere. Hygiene rating is 5*.Staff were both friendly and helpful. Menu offers a good variety of starters mains and desserts which is a good reason for us to return again sometime. Looked at the menu by the door and thought the food sounded nice, so me and the wife decided to give it a go. I am so pleased we did. By far, this was the best food I've eaten in a long time, and the restaurant was definitely way above average. It wasn't a cheap evening, and we ended up spending about £80 on our meals. To be fair to the restaurant though, we went a bit mental and ordered a load of food. I can't recommend this place enough and would definitely go back there.

Had trouble with App. Staff at first not very helpful. As we were ready to walk out as still having issues. A nice young lad approached us to ask was all ok. We told him we were leaving due to difficulty with app and lack of support from a female member of staff not very helpful. He therefore help us with App and we were able then to order. The well done steak was still red in the middle (although they did remake a well done steak and apologised) and the medium steak was almost blue cooked and the fries where a bit overcooked. Modern restaurant in a warehouse setting with stone floor, great view of Albert Dock and a lively atmosphere. There are some outdoor tables. I came here with a friend for lunch while on a day trip and we were more than satisfied with both the service and food. The young waiter who served us was jokey and friendly. Good choice of grilled meat dishes, Mexican cuisine and huge burgers. We both had the Cajun salmon with stir fried vegetables and French fries. Delicious, and the helpings were generous. The wine and coffee were good too. Rather pricey lunch at around £24 each but we both enjoyed it and I would certainly go again.

A table was booked prior to eating. The food was average not worth the price it costs. It was ridiculously expensive for what you got. Plus when the bill arrived their was an additional 10% service charge added on. When this was queried and asked where this was stated on the menus or on the website, I was told quite rudely by the annoying waiter that they had to make a living? I thought salaries were paid for that. The service charge didn't seem optional as it was simply just added on to the bill without prior warning. Whilst I don't mind giving a tip and in fact always do, I think this should be asked for not automatically taken. I offer a service to my patients, so with that said I could charge them an additional 10% every time they required treatment. The service charge was paid with nothing else said. On leaving the bar/grill the waiter was waving cash in front of my face. When I asked what he was doing he said he was returning the charge that I didn't want to pay. So not only rude but condescending. Safe to say we will NOT be returning. I had four tiny fajitas with not enough chicken to fill them. Loads of peppers, a tiny bit of sauce with lettuce (£17). I had a small slice of chocolate cake (£6). My family had two starters which was two small slices of garlic bread and four fiery wings. Three burgers with a tiny portion of chips each. one sundae and rocky road pancakes with ice cream. We got a refund for one burger meal as my husband almost choked on a large bone in the shredded pork. So for 2 starters, 3 meals and 3 deserts It cost £92. My daughter and husband had a starter each, a burger and small chips each, a fudge brownie and sundae it cost £72. Drinks were extra on top of these prices. If you go to eat at his place make sure you check your bill, take a mortgage out and have an ambulance on standby.

Had left it rather late to find somewhere to east on a Saturday night and other places round Albert Dock were crowded and had a long wait so happened to find this place in the darker reaches of the dock. It was only 30 minutes before there closing time but the staffwere really friendly (the guy who found us a table particularly) and the service and food was good. Glad we went.

The restaurant has a nice, cozy atmosphere and the service is fast. However, I think the price of the hamburgers was a bit too high for the quality; the actual piece of meat in my case was dry (notably, not because of overcooking), the bread was a classical hamburger bun (with not much toasting). With only that, I would have given the restaurant 4 stars *but*....the fries. The fries they serve are the ones you get from the supermarket and you can fry yourself an awful side dish to have, if you ask me, in a restaurant.

Doesn't take a genius to work out what's going on here and I could have forgiven them if they had actually tasted good. But they didn't Liverpool if full of amazing places to eat.
