Booked this as a Christmas present for the partner in Nov/December - 8course tasting menu with wine pairing for 4 of them.
We very much enjoyed the experience, wonderful mixture of tastes and textures. The chef(s) did well bringing out the wonderful flavours of the ingredients, not over seasoned, if any seasoning were used they put just enough to complement rather than overwhelm.
Interesting and quirky decor, staff were lovely and friendly and introduced each dish and wine very well.
I think all was good but felt the seating were not designed for the slightly shorter population, I’m shortish but not below average.
Likely to return to try Sunday Roast that some other reviewers have been commenting on.

The venue was a little loud but it was cosy. The staff were really nice, incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. The food was well presented and looked excellent. Overall the flavours were good but nothing to blow us away. The cooking was great though.

Was looking for Sunday Roast and came up with this cosy restaurant (reasonably priced) in Angel! One of the best roast I have had in London. We have started with the lamb kromeski and an oyster. The beef dripping roast potatoes were so on point. We found the caudiflower with truffle mayo a bit too powering. It was nice on first bite but the cheese and truffle mayo were too strong afterwards. Love the gravy, the hispi cabbage and the yorkshire puddings!! Beltrd galloway beef was perfectly cooked. Made our Sunday!

Super welcoming and attentive service staff. Amazing cocktails and wine selection. Dishes were well made but some of the flavour combinations was not my cup of tea.
Bread with anchovy butter was amazing. Lamb cut was a tat stringy and sauce was too sweet for me. Love the egg & pea + spicy jerk chicken dishes !!

The lamb kromeski and jerk chicken snacks were lovely. We had the Sunday roast which was not great! Gravy was bland, carrots were bland, roast potatoes not the best but the meat was nice!

I really wanted to like James Cochrans restaurant but was little disappointed. Food fairly average and service way too fast for 8 course meal, we were in and out of there in 1 hour 20 minutes, felt a bit rushed as not more than a minute between courses. Mushroom truffle dish was sublime as was dessert but everything else very average and nothing that hasn't been done so many times before... I think I expected more because of Michelin accreditation. Lovely American waitress but lady who greeted us was not so professional and did not have much in the way of hospitality skills that I would expect.

Beautifully crafted dishes with amazing staff. Probably the best fried chicken I've EVER tasted, so you have to try that with the chilli jam. Well worth a visit

Service - attentive and generally friendly but wish that they would wait until everybody on the table has finished their meals before clearing tables.
We didn't get our celebratory prosecco until the dessert course as the waitress 'forgot'.
Food - nicely presented, got to try some flavours/dishes that we wouldn't normally go for. My fave course was the mussels. The Chelsea but tasted a bit old/stale.
Wine - we got the wine flight but they are quite stingy with the pours and the first cocktail doesn't come until the third course so recommend you only get one flight between two and then get another drink a la carte to supplement.
I would give this 3.5* but Google only allows 3 or 4!

Awesome place for roast in Angel! The 42 days aged beef was simply to die for and so were all the trimmings that came with it (especially the beef shin which was a nice addition). Staff is super attentive and service is really fast. A bit pricy but you definitely pay for quality.
