Amazing food and great service! My fiancé and I shared a few hot starters and had the house mixed grill each. Very delicious. Andy is a friendly server who left a smile on our faces. Really great meal here today. The staff were extremely friendly, especially our waiter Andy. I had the meze platter and was very impressed by the cold platter to start - so many dishes to eat! The hot starter that followed was okay and the main platter of meats was good. Some meats incredible others okay. Overall though, a tasty meal in a small, welcoming, well decorated Greek restaurant! I would definitely visit again and try some of the fish dishes as they looked great.

Huge value for the money! Discovered this place by searching around on different restaurants and this one peaked my interest, and I have to say... I'm not disappointed! Very cozy place little bit outside of London center, but definitely worth the trip wherever you are staying in London and looking for Greek food. The staff is super nice and the food is just as good. Loved staying there and eat. And to be honest, we also needed to bag some food, since we got waaaay to much. Will definitely come back. Remember to finish with the baklava dessert.

This is my second week in a row coming to this restaurant. I went first time with my boss and it was amazing how great were were treated and the food was incredibly tasty and yummy. The portions, quality, experience and price were just perfect. So I have to try again with friends I think what makes this place even more special is Vassilis, he is just great, we had some much fun with him, he really knows how to make people feel confortable and enjoy the food even more. I will definately come back with other bunch of friends. I just feel everyone I know has to try this place. Vassilis surprised me with a nice birthday dessert with candles and song, which was unexpected and amazing thing to do. I have tried many Greek restaurants in London and this is by far my favourite one!

Top quality Greek food. I regret that I didn't take the photos to share, but the food is sooo good. Probably the best octopus I have ever eaten in London, so soft, generous portion and so tasty. Meatballs to die for and the rest should be on your last meal list as that's how delicious it is. Prices are super friendly as well.

The best Greek food we have ever had! We have been here for few times already though it is regretful that we didn't take photos before eating, because their food is way too good that photos can’t even justify! We love the starters! Tzantziki, houmous, fetta cheese with bread..... best!!! Soup is a must order every time! Seafood is so fresh: octopus, seabass, prawn, highly recommended! So welcoming on a cold Saturday afternoon at the end of a long walk, the quality of food and hospitality at Alexander’s restaurant were a delight . The wonderfully astute Vasillis, a listener as well as a talker, soon had our chilled wine to the table and then delivered our own mezze choices: kalimari rings, houmus, spanakopita and vegan dolmades. All of these are staples in most Greek restaurants, but they were distinguished by the quality of their ingredients and the skill of their flavouring. Each was as good of their type as we have ever enjoyed anywhere previously. The complementary baklava and limoncellos left a modt favourable impression of a warm and generous place that will very much deserve our next visit. The efficient attention and personal kindness of Vassilis had made our time especially a memorable pleasure.

The service was rushed and food is overrated. We went for the mixed meze for 2 which supposedly should come with a combination of cold and hot mezes, some fish dishes and the final grilled meat platter. While some of the cold mezes were good, the hot meze was merely a few pieces of hallloumi cheese on ham. Both fish dishes were not impressive either, very soggy and lack seasoning. After a good 20-30 mins of wait, we were finally served our main course which was the biggest disappointment of all. The grilled lamb looked like some leftover off cuts that were hastily chucked onto the plate, a rather unpleasant tasting and smelly piece of meat. Both grilled pork and chicken were dry, rubbery and lacking in seasoning. Not to mentioned that these came with a sad looking salad which is again under-seasoned. Finally, the dessert kataifi, though served warm, had by far the most overwhelming spice tang I've ever had - not a tad enjoyable. Overall, the most pleasant part of the meal was the decor and the dinning ambience. Food was quite a disappointment as well as the repeated music selection. I won't be coming back, nor will I recommend this to my friends/family.

Really friendly staff. Nice wine. Fish of the day lovely, fresh. Everything else average or below average. Way too little pita breads served for the dips. Dry, overcooked meat. But the worst and most appalling was Greek salad. I could easily say this was the worst Greek salad ever served to me by actual Greek cooks, problem is though, that wasn't even Greek salad. No olives (shocking), no green peppers, one paper thin feta slice and... Lettuce. Lettuce doesn't belong to Greek salad. Absolute joke. 3 stars because you get A LOT of food for the price and service is good. I personally wouldn't come back and I'm kinda shocked with food praising reviews.

Me and my lovely girlfriend were eyeing up this establishment for a couple of weeks and finally decided to go in here for a date. It was clean, warm, and aesthetically pleasing with the pure essence of a traditional Greek taverna, it was my first time trying a Greek styled Moussaka and I must say, what a first time it was! The food was tasty, the ingredients were fresh and cooked to perfection! Ilona the waitress was very warm, kind, professional and even offered us a drink and baklava on the house. I would recommend this restaurant for traditional home made Greek food, and food in general!

I moved to the area few weeks ago and decided to try this little place with my boyfriend because it always looks busy and the smell is amazing. It has the warm atmosphere of a Greek taverna. The food was great but the service was disappointing, we had a couple of issues that seem easily avoidable, it would seem that there are multiple items on the menu that have the same name - a vegetarian in our group ordered a moussaka whilst pointing to the dish labelled moussaka in the vegetarian section of the menu, when her meal arrived she ate some and was certain it had meat in it so we asked and were told yes it did and the waiter rather aggressively took it away before coming back and accusing her of not ordering correctly at which point she explained she had been pointing and he said he wasn't looking - whilst understandable from the waiters point this feels very avoidable if the dish had simply been called "vegetarian Moussaka" or something rather than having the same name and relying on the customer reading the entire menu, spotting there was a meat meal named the same and then adding the clarification herself. Our second issue was similar, I myself ordered "grilled sardines" which was a main, when it came I was rather disappointed by the size but are my meal and went on with it, when the bill came it became apparent that the waiter had instead ordered me the starter named "sardines" despite it being the only thing I had for my meal. I believe we were simply unlucky with our waiter as the other staff seemed absolutely lovely and the atmosphere and food (when correct) was delicious but the one waiter was grumpy initially and then rude rather than apologetic when he made mistakes which put rather a dampener on our meal :( .

A wonderful Greek restaurant in Camden Town! Don’t get discouraged by it’s neighbours – it looks like the Japanese restaurant next to it didn’t survive the pandemic. Just step inside (or take a seat at the table on the terrace) and enjoy the Greek atmosphere of this place, wide variety of delicious food, and impeccable service. A few curious gold fish in the aquarium next to our table made the evening even more memorable 😊

Excellent food, but even better service! Our server was Michael, and he absolutely provided the best service I have had in a restaurant in a long time. When we arrived the first floor of the restaurant was full, so they sent us downstairs. We were the only group down there for some time, but the servers kept checking in on us. Not once did we feel abandoned. We ordered the halloumi cheese, hummus, roasted sea bream, kleftico, and sheftalia. All of it was fabulous. Portions are large, so don't order so much. But it is hard not to, considering how tasty the items look on the menu.

The assistance was amazingly impolite and pointless. They didn't tune in at all when I was getting some information about the menu. At the point when I came I initially told that I'm veggie lover and might want to have something not very slick. I requested vegetable kebab with salad. Fantastic Greek Food. The wife and I traveled clear across the "pond" to eat at Alexander the Great restaurant. We enjoyed the quaint atmosphere. We arrived early and had the entire restaurant to ourselves. We were catered to by the Greek owner and servers. I really wanted to like this restaurant, especially given the reviews. The price was great but not the food. Whilst the decor was good and staff were friendly enough, they appeared to be rushed. Made evident through slamming plates down and no we're not talking about plate smashing here. Perhaps the highlight of service was the waiter exclaiming he had "already told us that he didn't have octupus". We had the mixed meze (probably the best to get a feel for a greek restaurant as you get a wide selection of dishes). First came the cold meze which was good overall except the token carrots and random potatoes... The hot meze was not really what you'd expect as it consisted of two dishes, some mediocre whitebait and fried squid. Honestly if you want to advertise as hot mezze then actually put some of the great hot meze dishes in the meal. A real shame as a non Greek would be missing out. The mains. A selection of grilled meats (chicken, pork and lamb). In two words. Unseasoned overgrilled. I had to lick moisture into the meats! Presentation was poor. Accompanied by a greek salad. Minor point but there was no lemon wedge. Imagine that... A Greek salad with no lemon! At this point I made the executive decision to order dessert. The selection was a near footnote on the menu and tastebuds. Given a choice of classic ice cream, fresh fruit, fresh fruit in season (awaiting an explanation of the difference with bated breath) and kataifi (basically noodle cake with honey, nuts and some sweet spices). We went with the noodle cake. It was the most overseasoned kataifi I've ever had. At which point I was gasping for water, but alas we were never offered any. Not even tap water. So overall, my very own Greek Odyssey which played out loudly to the same songs on loop.

This Greek restaurant is a hidden gem in London. That is not to say it lacked business - it is so brilliant, it just deserves much more widespread recognition! The food was spectacular but also not at all overpriced, and the service was friendly and warm. The staff clearly worked well together and cared for each other, which makes for a much warmer experience. Highly recommended, not the usual impartial in-and-out you get in London restaurants. The beautiful authentic decor and attention to detail (even down to the lighting and music played) makes it feel like a magical summer night in Greece. He went through the menu with us and was very knowledgeable about what food would and won't suit our dietary restrictions. Delicious meal with large portions. Took the family and ordered grilled salmon expecting the normal single fillet. But not here. Got 2 fillets per plate and struggled to eat them. Wonderful service as well.

My heart sank when the customer I'd promised to take out to lunch showed up with three colleagues, then chose the venue. Turns out I needn't have worried; the fixed price lunch menu (£5.50 for a starter and a meat main, £6.50 for starter and fish main) is incredible value for money. Portion sizes aren't huge, but I for one don't want a huge lunch in the middle of the working day. My halloumi followed by calamari was delicious, and clearly freshly cooked. The Sea bass & the meatballs looked very good too. Combined with a very attentive and friendly waitress, I don't have a bad word to say!

Family was visiting in london and had the best meal in this restaurant! Dad claimed that this is THE place he’ll bring his friends to and we all agreed. The lamb specialty (slow cooked for 4h we were told!) dish was the star with meat so tender it falls right off the bone. The grilled fish is also a must try! An entire fish deboned and sizzled to perfection, what more can you ask for? The Mezze Platter was a great sharing dish with all sorts of meat pack full of flavour. A special mention to Andy who was the most welcoming host you’d ever meet and made our visit ever more wonderful. Give that man a promotion!

Cozy outdoor seating area overlooking a run down council estate. The food ok but it's hardly going to offer any new exciting experiences or sensations. The waiting staff we're slightly awkward and seemed disorganised although they were plenty. The Hot and Cold meze as shared starter for two was also plentiful and I had little appetite left for the charcoal grilled (or charred) sardines. It was fairly large meal again although rather bland. I might revisit with and just have the meze and wine and watch the life in Camden council estate. We even witnessed a hit and run so free entertainment counts as a plus.

Earlier in the night we went for a few drinks and couldn’t decide where we wanted to eat, Luckily the bartender recommended Alexander the Great as it wasn’t far from where we was. Want your fix of Greek? This place will do nicely. The place makes an effort to create the atmosphere of a Greek Tavern for tourists with stone pillars, fish tank and a vine climbing up the walls around the ceiling. It isn't unpleasant at all, but it more interesting then others in the area. The staff are Greek/Cypriot and have the same charming attitude that you would expect in a Greek Tavern. Again, adds to the atmosphere. The meze was good, lots if small dishes and the meat was decent, probably the better meze courses in Camden both in quality, quantity and variety. Will go back again for sure...

I pre booked a table in this restaurant and much to my delight upon walking inside I marvelled at the authentic Greek décor and setting that i was welcomed by the place is a true mix of cosiness combined with the splash of opulence. Candle lit tables, vines draped across the ceilings, beautiful aquariums with orange large fish swimming inside. I ordered a number of starters just to sample the variety of light biting's which included vines leaves feta and spinach pastries , sumptuous charred octopus, and magnificently smooth, wholesome, deeply flavoursome fresh hummus with a side of piping hot soft fluffy pitta bread. For a main dish i went with the Greek meat platter, where I was presented with a delectable selection of meats, including herbed pork, charcoaled cooked lamb cutlets and chops and palatable chicken cooked to perfection. All in all my friend and had a brilliant tFriday night dining experience. The service was outstanding and the waitress was a divine, friendly person who didn't falter once during our service.
