I’ve been eating at this restaurant for over 15years and I will do so for another 15 years. This place has the best Iranian Chef. They use the highest quality ingredients and I’ve been told by the owner that if the meat quality doesn’t meet their standards, they send it back. Their portion size is spot on and it’s great to see customers plates empty as it heads to the kitchen. I’ve been to other Iranian restaurants and the portion sizes are a lot which results in high waste. If they provide a better quality rather then quantity I think they can benefit more. Aloonak starters - I can’t pick a favourite. They are all unique and taste great. Mirza ghasemi slightly leads the way. Main course - Barg with rice is the one I choose on a regular basis. Home food I’ll go with Baghali polo Desert - saffron ice cream is the icing on the cake. Staff - Chef Mr M, kind and generous man. Owner a down to earth guy which really cares and enjoy what he does. Thank you very much Aloonak.

Alounak is a decent Persian restaurant. Best part is you can bring your own drinks meaning the bill at the end isn’t so large. Place is cosy, staff are pleasant but food is average at best. Recommend not sitting by the bread oven as it can get really warm they side of the restaurant.

I ordered jouje-koubide with rice as of my mail dish, and a mixed saffron ice-cream and faloudei afterwards. Here are the given scores out of 10: jouje-koubideh: jouje 8 / koubideh 10 mixed ice-cream faloude: ice-cream 10 / faloude 9 When I entered the restaurant, I was welcomed by a waitress. All the staff look welcoming. When I asked for extra lemon, they brought more than enough. The food is also reasonably priced. Overall and compared to all Iranian restaurants in Kensington area in London, here is the only place I am giving the 5 scores out of 5. Highly recommended.

Loved the food and service very much. I must say the food is absolutely brilliant. The staff are absolutely helpful in helping you with choosing the right dish. One thing that really made me upset and to write this review was the fact they charge customers service charge which is normal and it goes to the staff usually, but not this place. The service charge goes to the owners. Service charge is not mandatory and Can be removed if you are not happy with the service. But in this case the staff don’t see any of it and all that money goes to the owners. So I must say shame to the owners for being greedy. And I would recommend everyone to ask the staff to remove the service change and to tip them separately.

I've been coming here for years, a week established Persian restaurant that has been doing the same good thing for years. Only thing is I am now vegan, they could revamp the vegan main course dish. Great place though. And would happily just eat the vegan starters and lovely bread.

I love Alounak. I have been to the Bayswater restaurant as well as Russel Gardens many many times. The food is cheap, tastes amazing and the portions are big. I loved the mixed starters and the fresh breads, which they bake in a clay oven at the front of the restaurant. Service can be inconsistent at times, depending on how busy they are, and the Alounak branch don't take table bookings, so you may need to queue to get in. I would highly recommend trying this place, and also have the Iranian tea at the end, it is splendid.

The food is delicious and portions are generous, fresh flat bread is baked on the premises and you can order everything in starter sized portions to get a variety of dishes. However, the decor can do with an upgrade and the service leaves a lot to be desired, even on a lazy saturday afternoon with no customers.

After 8 years I went to Alounak and was pleasantly surprised and impressed at the quality of food a d service. Makhsous was excellent and the ghorme sabzi delicious. Great Iranian food in central London. Highly recommend the food here. I've been coming here and when it was a caravan/portocabin in a near by car park for over 25 years. Recommend the joujeh kebab and of course the chelo kebab soltani and the minced lamb koobideh.

I love Persian food, and I haven’t had better than this in London. If I’m there on a Saturday, I’ll always have the Baghali Polo (lamb shank with dill and broad bean rice). Otherwise I’ll get the Joojeh Kabob Makhsoos - 1 grilled skewer of chicken and 1 of minced lamb. Always get bread and a dip to start, my favourites are mast-o-moosir, boorani or mirza ghasemi.

Excellent food. Fantastic service. Try the number 21. Lamb prepared in two ways: one minced kebab and one sliced charged slab. With a side of white rice and chopped slad. They give you a shaker of dried pomegranate powder; make sure to sprinkle that on everything. Have some chai as a digestive. You will leave happy.

An old time classic which still promises to deliver good sod Iranian food. Houmous and Mirza Ghassemi are excellent starters with the traditional fresh bread. Koobideh are traditional and well made and delightful to eat. Chicken kebab if I am honest is a little dry and blah so wouldn't recommend. Makhsous is nice if you enjoy type meat, though it can be a little tough at times. For me the go to dish is the koobideh with rice and you can't go wrong with that. Staff is a bit hit and miss but doesn't really matter in this type of restaurant.

Visited last night (Saturday) after looking for a good Persian restaurant in the Kensington area. We arrived at around 8:30 and only had to wait a couple of minutes for a table for two after we initially thought it would be too busy to get a table. At the front of the restaurant is a tandoori oven where they make the naan breads. So it's not all bad if you're waiting for table as the warmth and smell from the oven is quite satisfying! As with most Persian restaurants, the décor inside is traditional and that's something we enjoyed inside Alounak. Including the homeware. We ordered a starter each, Halim Bademjan, Boorani and a bread each. Both were tasty and filling. For main course we both ordered the Joojeh kebab (a skewer of chicken breast marinated in saffron & garlic served with rice). The portions were very generous and we found that again to be filling. Though that's a slight on Alounak. Personally I think it's a good thing. We were then treated with a mint tea and a few sugar coated sweets. I think on the menu they are called "Special Iranian sweet" but can't be sure of that. We both enjoyed the mint tea. It was refreshing after the meal. We were also pleasantly surprised by the bill. For what we ordered (in terms of quality and quantity) was good value. We enjoyed Alounak and will definitely be going back at some point.
