Reviews of Applebee's Fish
B. S.
The seafood platter for two was excellent. Really enjoyed the flavours and was cooked perfectly. They supply the tools to crack open the lobster claws, however it seemed to be cracked already making it easy to open and get the meat out, which was great. There is allot of fish meat from the scallops to prawns that also seemed to be semi peeled. So eating this meal was not messy and very enjoyable and made the experience even more enjoyable. The service was good and would highly recommend.

Decided to give this place a try while looking for a decent fish and chips near Borough Market. The menu is changing daily which is quite a good sign. I was very impressed by the menu and will definitely need to come back to try the rest. We settled for the scallops with pulled pork for starters, as well as the tiger prawns. The scallops were perfectly cooked. Preferred the scallops over the prawns. Regarding the main, we went for the fish and chips. It was good. The batter was tasty, not too oily, and the fish tasted really fresh. I'm usually not a big fan of mushy peas but loved them. Compared to Rock and Sole Plaice, personal preference would be for the later, but Applebee's is definitely a good option, and I would come back.

Had a wonderful dinner here! The staff was absolutely professional and friendly, food is fresh and delicious too. The price can be slightly more affordable (hence 4 stars), but will come back for another meal to test out the menu.
S. B.
Fantastic! The small team at Applebee’s work really hard and we had a superb meal and drinks here enjoying the pleasant ambiance.
Food was delicious - tasty, well cooked and high standard in quality of fish. Great margarita too!
Definitely recommend. We ate at 6pm on a Saturday and the place was just getting nicely busy.
C. U.
The food was absolutely delicious well presented with knowledgeable staff who knew what each dish consisted of with recommendations from their personal experiences. Was seated promptly even though we was late but still in our 15min grace period of our booking. We shall return in the near future
N.
A lovely place to eat fresh seafood.
The oysters were absolutely delicious, so fresh I was able to devour 4 in a row! The flesh was buttery and refreshing.
Prices are slightly dear, however this is what you need to expect location wise, and to be honest.. I would rather pay more for higher quality seafood. I was told they were caught that morning from Ireland, to me that's a real treat!
There is also a lot of competition due to the seafood in Borough market.
Well done team at Stoney Street! Will certainly return.

Best Seafood place in London!! Everything is so delicious! And great outdoor seating with brilliant heaters for pandemic times. The tables inside are also separated by a clear partition.
Everything from the food we ordered, wine, pudding to service was excellent. I ordered a wild turbot which was fantastic and my support bubble friend ordered grilled fish and chorizo skewers and they were both extremely well presented, flavoured and cooked.
Will definitely go again.
Since this first review I've been to Applebee's four times in 6 months. Every time it doesn't disappoint!
♥️ Loved and would recommend:
- The oysters (super fresh)
- Scallop starter
- Crab Croquettes
- Wild Turbot
- Tuna Steak
- Seabass main
- Moules Marinières (best in London)
- the Crème Brûlée
- the Chocolate & Hazelnut cheesecake

When we first were looking for somewhere to eat ,we had to queue outside and as it was raining,I thought the staff could have let us in restaurant…
Once seated, very nice waitress and everything was perfect..food very good…
Shields in between customers…

Second time visit after a few years…… this time we tried the restaurant itself (not then food stand). Love it! The tuna tartare was amazing, mussels were very fresh, and we really like the pasta :) they also offer smaller sized fish and chips for the children, it was just perfect :)
H. P.
It's good to be dining in restaurants again. However it is of course currently outdoor only at the moment. There is a canopy and heaters. The food is beautifully presented and tastes just as good. Even though it is a fish restaurant, the dish that really stood out for me was the chocolate cheesecake with a hazelnut granola topping. It a perfect mixture of sweet and creamy, soft and nutty. One thing to be alert to is a few items on the menu includes pork so there are not as many pescaterian choices as you might think.
F. F.
Good seafood as always. Moules Frites was really enjoyable- mussels were plump and sauce is rich. Prawns were really good, easily the best I've had in London. Originally came for the seafood platter but it had gone up in price and didn't feel like good value for money which is a shame.
V. M.
Update** been to this restaurant again since a year ago and it still does not disappoint. There outdoor areas is partly covered and heated which is a welcomed addition. Service was ace. Food still as good as I remember it and the price was certainly affordable for such great value.
We had been to this place before and after a visit to the Tate it was a perfect Saturday evening setting. We sat at the bar and from the get go had attentive and animated service. We had the white bait and octopus to start which was presented so nicely but it was too tempted to not dive in. For mains,' sole, sea-bass and veg to accompany. All of the dishes had a wonderful lightness to them, the white bait with its crunchy and citrusy taste, my sea-bass dish was well balanced and the crispness of the white wine brought out the herbal, silky and fresh taste of the dish. I adored my time here.
M. A.
Food was great. The fish was cooked to perfection. Staff were courteous and had in-depth knowledge about the menu.
K. S.
Delicious food and excellent service. Highly recommend 👌🏻
L.
Had the most wonderful meal for a special occasion. Every dish our party ordered was beautifully presented and delicious, with really high quality ingredients. Staff were friendly and attentive, without being ever present, and the whole atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Prices were also really reasonable considering the location and quality of the experience. Will definitely be back. Thank you.
G. S.
Great food and very good customer service. The only negative thing is that we were waiting for 35 minutes to eat. Hopefully it was not something that happens often!
K. M.
As ever absolutely fab food and atmosphere. The service is impeccable and the place has a vibrancy only really found in London establishments. The seafood always tastes and looks fresh.
J. K.
We were lucky to get an outside table - and had an exceptional meal. Some fantastic crab croquettes and then some turbot cooked simply in lemon, butter, capers etc. and some potatoes. Delicious and some great wines by the glass also.
R. S.
This place is my favourite for seafood dinner in weekdays. Everything was cooked with passion! 😍
My favourite was their Clams Spaghetti. It's just sooo perfect. 😍
The mussels sauce was also super delish! The fish were cooked perfectly, but still to me the Clams Spaghetti was the winner! 😍😍😍
L. G.
Definitely worthwhile paying a visit for this lovely restaurant right in the middle of Borough Market. Quality and speed of service, food and ambient deserve 5*
T. k.
Had a epic evening! Thankyou so much to Daisy and karolina, I was very picky and they were still so so lovely! They recommended some great dishes.
And was ever so nice, will definately be coming here again x
S. p.
Authentic and brilliantly located in borough market. They've mastered every single dish on the menu. We love the seafood pasta. The fish is fresh and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend.
O. S.
Showed up with no booking at around 630pm and were lucky to have a table by the heater on the market side. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Service was very quick despite all tables were busy. Food was fresh and very tasty, definitely recommend mussels and lobster arancini (a bit pricey for 1 arancini - 8 pounds). Great market atmosphere. Prices are slightly high, but worth of spending in case of a special night, as food won't dissapoint you. Still would recomend to have reservation as Borough Market gets very busy nearly everyday.
A. F.
Very good. Friendly staff. Loved the scallops.
E. W.
What an amazing restaurant. The seafood is amazingly fresh and the ambiance is bustling. The open kitchen adds to the experience especially if you sit at the bar like we did. The surrounding area is cool with a number of boisterous bars and a mixed diverse crowd. The ceviche and crudo was delicious, and the risotto was very rich and creamy. The next time we’re in town, we’ll be sure to hit up Applebees Fish again.
B. ..
I don’t usually write review but I just had one of the most memorable seafood today! The Sole and Hake were fresh and really well seasoned. I would also recommend the tuna tartare and oysters. The staffs and chefs were lovely and really attentive. They even gave me some free appetiser as I was waiting for my brother. It was an exquisite experience. You won’t be disappointed!
J. K.
Very nicely done. Taste are beauty. Portions can be rather small and pricy, especially for the fish dishes, but the focus is on the presentation and the balance.
L. H.
What does a fish restaurant needs to do to get 5 stars? Serve good fish. Have nice staff. That's about it, and Applebee's does just that. Does it get busy on a Friday evening? Yes. It's it the cheapest place around? Not at all. Did we leave happy? Absolutely.
a. m.
An excellent fish meal, beautifully presented and cooked perfectly.
A little on the expensive side but well worth the money. The service was good if a little slow.
C. E. B.
Amazing place with fresh fish. The food was very tasty and the staff extremely friendly. Special thanks to Carole for arranging the birthday cake. I definitely recommend.
J. F. d. S.
Good seafood, straight from the nearby market. We went in as a big group with no reservation and they were very accomodating. Wines are a bit on the pricy side and the restroom facilities a bit dirty, but we had a good meal nonetheless. I would recommend the octopus and mussel starters in particular.
J. Z.
The turbot was soooo good! yes a little bit expensive than other fish...but turbot is not promised everyday so I just don’t want to miss it!!! Definitely return some other day!
N. F.
Great healthy seafood at reasonable prices. The Applebee’s stall in borough market serves fresh seafood wrap grilled in front of you! The mixed fish and prawn wrap was very good. They used salmon, tuna and other white fish. You can also choose to have prawn only which is also amazing.
M. T.
Expensive but totally worth it. Huge portion of seafood. We struggled to go through it but it was cooked to perfection
J. R.
This is clearly a great joint. I've been once on a turbo visit to town from the Toon; Newcastle. My grub tasted supreme in every way. From that perspective it's definitely a five star rating. The four stars perhaps is tough but it's not so cheap (spot the North Easterner?) and don't go there hungry because you'll potentially leave hungry as the portions were not overly generous. I appreciate not everyone is a greedy as me perhaps, so you'll leave absolutely satisfied. I could have done my courses five times over and probably the rest. The staff were spot on friendly though, and the place was absolutely stacked out with punters this Wednesday teatime. I would recommend it wholeheartedly still.
A. K.
A great restaurant for seafood fans. Quick, friendly service with a fresh menu
S.
Very nice food! Had the fish & chips and squid. Attentive service too.
J. L.
The seafood platter in this restaurant is amazing... Highly recommended. Service was great.
A. C. C.
A good place to eat fish in London, and dessert was tasty too. Friendly staff. A bit too noisy for my taste, but overall nice atmosphere.
My second visit confirmed my initial opinion.
C. C.
Had the £65 takeaway platter for 2 which you finish off at home.
My presentation skills leave a lot to be desired but the lobster, scallops, prawns in chilli garlic butter was amazing. The mussels were tasty too.
Felt like pretty good value for some fresh shellfish, will be back! And also thanks for the bonus xl Madagascar prawns, delicious!
J. m.
Great food. The seafood platter for two really hit the spot. The service was a little slow and i think they were sulking because we arrived early but I cannot fault the kitchen. Recommended if you are in London Bridge
H. W.
This restaurant is my favorite site. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to visit this place. when I I need a delicious dinner, this place comes instantly to my mind. splendid and all sorts of food and a rich menu.great staff members, and agreeable ambience. Not less important, the cost is fair. I recommend this spot with pleasure.
박.
Foods taste good but quantities are not enough.
P. R.
Went here recently. Nice place, good service. Food was average though, the fish n chips, the batter was soggy, not crispy at all, that was poor. Linguini was ok, lacking flavour, and not enough prawns in the dish, cut in half. Oysters and salmon v good. Overall ok.
Y. O.
Quite decent place next to the Borough market. They use fresh ingredients. Their service was pretty good - we were quite demanding but they accommodated us seamlessly.
My friend had “today’s special” and it was so good. My tuna was also delicious. Highly recommend it.
Photo: tuna steak (not today’s special)

This place is amazing, went there yesterday 13th Oct, it was my daughter’s 30th. We were in heaven, the food, staff and location were perfect in every way. We had the platter, wine , water and the desert was to die for. Highly recommend this place and we will deffo be back after I’ve saved a bit more cash. Thank you all at this restaurant for making our stay memorable.
B. L.
I had the moules marinere. V good standard. But the bread was v stale. Also no wine in it. And with chips it was 20 quid. GF had fish and chips. She said the best she's had in London. Will be back.
B. O.
Cost and portion was great. Good covid measures.
Food could have been seasoned more. I asked for garlic sauce which tasted a little watery.
r.
Went here for my husbands birthday brunch and the food was delicious! Staff even put a candle in his cheesecake and sang him happy birthday. Will definitely be returning
A. D.
Great tuna, amazing service. Really enjoyed my dinner here
V. B.
Yummy food and faultless attentive staff, all of them! Lovely, accomodating and fast. The tiger prawns were soooo good! Fish and chips also very good.
S. J.
Only reason this isnt 1 star is because my waiter, Brian (atleast that is the name on the bill, I hope its him!), was lovely.
I ordered the king prawn appetizer. For £14, you get a starter portion consisting of 3 king prawns. The cooking wasnt that well done; one of the prawns was mushy, the garlic seemed off and the garlic butter sauce tasted of water and neither much garlic nor butter. Based on that, I would rate this establishment a 'tourist trap' / 5.
S. M.
Great seafood restaurant. Had oysters and line caught tuna steak. Sat outside at atmosphere of borough market was great apart from the beggar's that were passing outside.
Y. C. L. (.
Nice staffs, delicious seafood, great atmosphere!
L. M.
Visited on a busy Friday night so the only available tables were at the back of the resturant. It was hot and stuffy but the waiter had been kind enough to warn us of this beforehand.
We chose to sit at the bar tables in front of the open kitchen, so could see the food being prepared. The only thing about this is resisting the urge to make conversation with the chefs, as they are at eye level and relatively close. Good spot for picking up culinary tips, not so much for intimate chats!
Our drink orders were taken quickly, although they took a little while to arrive. The kiwi cooler was underwhelming and tasted more like a soft drink than a cocktail. However all was forgiven when the food arrived. The fish was very fresh and the chefs are clearly very skilled. Our whitebait starter couldn't be faulted and the tuna steak main was cooked to absolute perfection. My husband ordered the monkfish and chorizo kebab and was equally impressed with his meal.
I suspect this was the first of many future visits!
W.
Fantastic fresh fish cooked with a deft touch! Today I had the Halibut special which was a dish of simple deliciousness, the fish was fresh and the potatoes perfectly cooked. The addition of the red cabbage was a surprising positive revelation. Thank you for a wonderful meal served by friendly staff.
J. C.
Great food and service. Prices good too.
H. C.
Had the mixed grill and cheese board for dessert. Mixed grill had a good variety of fish, tuna was a little overcooked, but generally all okay. Cheese board had a good selection of cheeses, crackers were abit disappointing as nothing special.
J. B.
Food was decent enough. Best thing about the establishment are the staff. Our waitress, Carla, was charming and attentive. Forgot to leave a tip to her which was definitely well deserved.
The surrounding area of Borough market is great and there's a very cool atmosphere.
E. B.
Very good food. We ate Crostini Salmon, Crab and Avo, Monkfish, Tuna, Panacotta and Tiramisu.
M. M.
Excellent seafood, friendly and attentive staff, and a great location close to Borough Market. Thank you for our handsome Berber waiter for a great night out.
A. A.
Great food and service if not a little overpriced
b. b. M.
If you need a lesson in how to run a restaurant then go visit Applebee's... from the first minute you are greeted by the guy at front of house to the moment you leave, all staff here make you feel comfortable and welcome.
The food is sublime, from the sourdough and olives appetizers to the sea bass main with creamed spinach, everything is delicious and cooked to perfection, my only complaint is I wanted more because it was so delightful.
The waiters and waitresses are so on the ball they remember every order by memory with no pen or paper and you are never left waiting for food or drinks at any point of the night but you don't feel like they are rushing you either.
Even the pale ale was really nice which is unusual for many restaurants.
How I managed to get a booking here last minute was anyone's guess as nearly everywhere in London bridge was fully booked, and boy was it my lucky day....full respect to all the employees here for making such an effort to set up a restaurant outside in half an hour and make it such a perfect night for their guests.
Its not often I give a perfect score to a night out but Applebee's fish gets a perfect 10/10.
K. H.
Absolutely amazing! Everything was cooked to perfection and the flavour was impeccably matched. The music, lighting, service and the energy of the place is unlike any other I’ve experienced. I came here on my birthday, alone after a night out for a treat and some solitude. One of the waiters (I’d know his face in an instant but I’m not so great with names) noticed me sitting alone and asked me what I was up to; the minute he found out it was my birthday I was greeted with a glass of Malbec, which was outstanding, and a birthday dessert on the house!
If I would recommend anywhere in London for an amazing experience and exceptional food, it would definitely be here.
M. H.
Super fish restaurant, high quality dishes, chilled out atmosphere
N. l.
Food was absolutely delicious... superb. I will definitely dine here again
R. R.
Best seafood restaurant in the market. Gets lively here in summer. My personal favourites are the tuna steak, the creole salad and of course the fish and chips. A lot of the white fishes they do are too buttery for my liking.
T. K.
Lovely seafood, massive portion of muscles with well designed interior and prompt service.
r. p.
The best fish and chips 😋
D. S.
Best Sea Food platter I've tasted and the biggest scallops I've ever seen. Amazing food and wine selection. X
H. D.
Excellent food. I had fish and chips and my partner had mussels. Both delicious and could not be faulted. Will visit again when we can.
J. H.
Tasty seafood for a high price. If you take the shared platter be aware of the large amount of garlic (which was nice but some people might find it too much).
G.
Don’t usually leave reviews, but the food and service was 10/10. Thanks to the waiter who managed the outside area and really went out of his way for us when we couldn’t decide on a wine!
I. K.
Great food and good ambience. Always buzzing and gives you the best vibes around the borough market.
J. S.
Nice staff and lovely food. Would definitely go again
T. L.
The seabass was delicios!
S. H.
Fantastic. Called in for a quick bite. Loved the King prawns and scallops followed by a huge fish and chips. Definitely worth a visit.
L. L.
My favourite seafood wrap! Loaded with juicy tender prawns and variety of fish. Absolutely a must-try at Borough market.
L. A.
Absolutely delicious! Well worth the money. They even threw in a complimentary dessert for my boyfriend's birthday. Really good dining experience.
N. D. (.
Food was amazing however got cold quick
Tables too small for a platter .
Told the manager its raining and chair was in the rain he scoffed and really didn't do anything about it .
Service was good very good better than the manager wouldn't go again just the fact the manager was not up to standard to what he is ment to do and how he treats the customers. What a shame looked forward to coming here for so long and very disappointed 😞 the 4stars are for the waitresses thank you .
B. B.
We treated ourselves to the luxury seafood platter which was mentioned in The Telegraph a week or so before Valentines. I can’t praise it enough!!!
The box was delivered when said and was well packaged. The meal for 2 was extremely generous. We ate the moules mariniere one evening and the rest the next. The instructions were simple and it was straightforward to reheat. But....it tasted amazing and I will use again and would highly recommend even at £100. As we haven’t been anywhere for months it was worth every penny and a real pick-me up!
E. M.
The service was amazing! Lovely waitstaff, prompt and caring. We only had nibbles but they were great. Advice when ordering was thoughtful and considerate. They brought us a heater and checked in regularly. We randomly chose this place and were so pleasantly surprised. Sat outside and looked at the shard. Delightful night. Thank you!
J.
Tasty food, clean place, friendly staff, fish’s dishes
C. P.
Entirely deserved high-score for a hard-working team front and back of house, excellent food and considered/curated drinks menu. We arrived quite late 945pm, party of four walk-up. Maitre'd Billel (from Algeria) was friendly and made real effort (shifting tables etc) to squeeze us in this busy spot in heart of Borough Market. There was a bit of a chilly breeze and Billel noticed we were not comfortable, offering us another table by the open kitchen which became available within 15 minutes. Great! Drinks, Food, Service all Great in a buzzy atmosphere. Highly recommend and will go again, ideal for couples and small groups.
M. B.
The lobster ravioli was lovely however I don't think £25 for 5 pieces of pasta is justifiable even in Borough Market. Staff were friendly and chatty yet professional once we were inside however didn't greet us at all while we waited for 5-10 minutes outside. Would have liked to have been acknowledged even if they'd have told us it would be a short wait until a table was ready.
A.
Fantastic place, courteous staff, good food and surprisingly good value for money
O. A.
Great seafood and service but 12.5% discreet service fee which I usually tip 20% so it's a savings for me. Fish was really fresh..
B. K.
Busy resturaunt and clear to see why.
Great menu, superb food backed up with friendly staff. When the bill arrived I was pleasantly sursprised too.
What's not to like??
M. R.
Mediocre food at higher than needed price.
But hey, it's central London baby, i.e. location saved the evening.
L. T.
Cant fault the good old fashioned customer service, unfortunately my fish was over cooked but the staff handled it immediately and i had a replacement, would I could back OH YES the platter made me drool when I saw it presented on other tables, which was polished off very quickly!
T. W.
Really good food. Portions are bigger than you’d expect.
C. B.
Great food and wine topped off with excellent service. Not the cheapest but thoroughly enjoyed it and will return.
Thanks Melanie 👍
J. C.
I can see that all not so great reviews here are mostly price related. I went to the restaurant last night, had checked the menu before we went and found the prices absolutely normal for London. Once we actually tried the food I felt that the price was perfectly justifiable: dishes were extremely flavorsome, very well thought through, just melting in the mouth... I'm Russian and my boyfriend is Italian, we are fussy when it comes to food and food was exceptional indeed in Applebee's... I just don't know how we didn't discover this place earlier... You can't get fish any fresher and juicier than here... Enjoy!
S. M.
This is a 5 star plus plus restaurant, we have visited a few times and always had an outstanding meal, due to Covid this year we were unable to dine in the restaurant so instead had the Valentines takeaway meal of Lobster, Scallops, Mussels, Prawns, Creamed Spinach and Mash - wow wee it was fantastic. The instructions on how to heat were so easy to follow and Peter and I had the most fantastic, romantic (at home) valentines meal. Thankyou Applebees - Peter & Shu Malone

Supper amazing food and fantastic service. Highly recommended for dinner.
C. D.
Visited too survey for new beer pumps but found them cooking marinated salmon and prawns in a wrap/taco outside, the smell was fantastic. Going to take the other half when not on duty.
F. K.
The mrs dragged me along, said it will be cute (which it was) saw the menu and i saw crab claws, automatically i said ighttt let me grab that…. I had to order the same thing twice😋
big up the chefs for making lovely food, HOLD TIGHT DAISY AND KAROLINA FOR THE BANGING SERVICE dunknoo <3
Highly recommended! 🥰🤟🏽🎺
E. G.
Food is nice but not worth the money at all.
£5 for 1 piece of langoustine ravioli is a joke
Paying £70 per head for the amount of food, it’s quality and overall experience- not worth it since for that much money you can get much better deal elsewhere. Hope this gets improved or the price should be lower to reflect the service and food ✌🏼
F. F.
Went there Sat evening. All three courses were delicious! Very flavoursome perfectly cooked and well presented. Staff were also very polite and attentive. I would definitely go back and recommended this fish restaurants.
R. G.
We came early for dinner to eat at 6pm on a Saturday night but we did find the service rather slow, it took over 20 mins for our “nibbles” of crostini you arrive. The fish is obviously excellent here but the overall meal was let down by the potatoes! The grilled fish says it comes with “roasted potatoes” but these turned about to be small wedges which had barely been introduced to an oven. I had the Halibut fillet which was cooked perfectly but the potato rosti fell apart into mush under the massive dollop of pesto which was smothered over the fish which ruined the overall dish and made everything very oily - for £27 it was a bit disappointing. They did replace the “roasted potatoes” with chips so all was not lost!
N. R.
Loved it ! Fresh fish and friendly staff made the experience a great one 🙂
M. C.
I came here during my visit to borough market, I got the truffled scallops which was just perfectly executed, all the flavors tied together and complimented each other very well . Also ordered the salmon trio, simple but flavorsome .. fish was really fresh, also very kind waiters ! Highly recommend if you enjoy seafood.
C. C.
Fantastic food experience. Had the lobster arancini and the fish and chips and were both delicious, while the service really nice and friendly. One of the best fish meals I have had in London!
A. B.
This restaurant is my preferable restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to this restaurant. Whenever I feel like having a delicious dinner, this is the place that comes immediately to my head. splendid and food and a large list of dishes.trained staff members, and great spirit. In addition to that, the cost is reasonable. I recommend this place with no doubt.
A. C.
A great family restaurant, the meal was perfect & a good price too. All the staff are very nice & friendly, will definitely be going back.
C. E. L.
Casual fish restaurant, really nice atmosphere. Real food cooked in front of you! We had food at the bar table overlooking the chefs.
Oysters were delicious.
For me is it only a 4 because wine list was poor.
Overall very pleasant experience. Recommend.
L. C.
Only came for oysters with my dad but so glad we did. They were absolutely delicious, really fresh and served beautifully. Staff were exemplary: attentive, warm and efficient. Would like to come back for a proper meal.
F. W.
Excellent service. Great food!
m. m.
Top notch restaurant in Borough Market. The food is delicious, and the staff are pleasant, courteous and attentive. I have eaten here on many occasions, and the food has always been consistently excellent. It's also pretty reasonably priced, especially for Borough Market where prices are typically higher than elsewhere. Yesterdays meal for two with wine and beer came in at less than £100. If you enjoy fish, then this place is definitely worth a visit.
S. K.
Good service, had traditional fish and chips.
Recommend
L. N.
Good quality fish, taste quite bland so needs added salt and pepper and I also left hungry ! for 2 people starter and main course £50 but if your leaving hungry what's the point
a. j.
Had a superb meal here today with lovely service. Highly recommended the monkfish and chorizo skewer and a bottle of rose' to help it down

Delicious fish for a quite fair price (not saying it is cheap, but it's really well spent money). They also have some really good french wine (Chablis FTW), great desserts and... wait for it... drunken cheeseboard. I say no more but if you're into fancy cheeses and alcohol you're gonna enjoy your meal.
R. A.
Really enjoyed this place and the food was delicious albeit lacking in quantity.
C. W.
Really wholesome fresh seafood expertly prepared and presented at a reasonable price.
Rather noisy and cramped but immersive.
A. A.
Appetizer main course and desert were all very good.
J. P.
Lobed the king prawns, crab croquette and creme brûlée. Fish & Chips was yum too
M. H.
Great location, tasty food and good wine. Prices are okay as well. Only drawback during our visit was a bit slow service as the waiting times were rather long but could be related to size of our group - 10 people. Reservations are recommended as well.
P.
A great restaurant matched by the quality of the food and the service. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere and superb food. Visited with family and young grandchildren, who had choice from the main menu but served in smaller, but ample portions on the occasion of my wife's birthday. Whitebait, scallops with pork belly, monkfish with chorizo, lobster risotto, mixed fish platter, sea bass and not to forget fish and chips for one of the children, all beautifully prepared. Quite superb. Thanks of course also to the excellent staff.
E. M.
We were visiting Borough Market and wanted to have a sit-down meal for lunch. We happened upon Applebee's Fish and were rewarded with an excellent meal. We shared their daily special of halibut with a red pepper couli and smashed potatoes. The fish was perfectly cooked and the sauce complemented the flavor and texture of the fish and potatoes. We also enjoyed their hand-cut fries. With a beer and a couple glasses of wine, we accomplished our mission of having an excellent meal for our last day in London. Highly recommend this restaurant for seafood while in London.
W. R.
This place was amazing. The fish stew was a hearty filling soup with generous helpings of fish, mussels, calamari and a prawn. The mixed grill was incredible, every different fish was cooked to perfection. Would definitely return here.
J. “. L.
I have eaten their fish and chips before aswell as seabass and on both occasions the flavours freshness and quality is really excellent . Today I had a Cajun mixed fish wrap with some simple salad , absolutely divine , I can’t recommend this place enough ..... well done guys !!!
D. O.
we loved the fish and chips here. One is enough for a couple! try the cranberry juice.
N. K.
It's a little pricey but probably because their fish is very fresh
G. L.
I would have given five stars but found our particular server to be quite rude and the restaurant family unfriendly. The lobster risotto was delicious but a little heavy on the salt. Given how busy the weekends are at the Market, and how much they charge for food, it would have been nice to see smaller portions or a kids menu.
L. F. &. T. &. W.
Seafood is fresh. Food is tasty and love the prawn wrap which is selling during lunch hour.
Desert is a surprise to us. Very nice place 🥰
L. M. P.
Great fish ans chips!!! We loved the service, the atmosphere, the place itself :) However, do beware of the area, is not very safe. While We were eating, someone ran by and tried to take the purse of someone seating outside. Good thing everyone reacted pretty quick.
Y. C.
Tried the wrap outside restaurant, around £6 a wrap, always quequing.
light seasoning , fresh prawns and fish
G. A.
My wife and I eat here regularly and have done for a few years now. It always serves fish at its best with very knowledgeable fronting house staff serving with a smile ensuring your experience is at its best. The chef and his team put together fresh fish served at its best minus the over the top chefy details which spoils the true fish experience.
If you love fish here's the place!
S. H.
Looked like a small portion but it was just right and very good.
C. W.
Ni e good. Sit at the counter. Service, a bit slow but no need to rush. Busy. Buzzy. Pricey
h. j.
Lovely food and ambiance. We could sit outside and were still lovely and warm. Service was attentive. Very pleasant experience
P.
Nice selection of fish dishes. Italian chefs and French waiters, interestingly. I did notice that some things were precooked and being slipped into the microwave. Otherwise fine.
H. J.
Enjoyable lunch dog friendly always great to visit Borough Market if you love fish you will enjoy
G. F.
Fab little place, amazing food. Will definately be back.
Y. W.
Pretty good place with fresh food
b. s.
Lovely restaurant, food and service 5 star since my initial visit more thn 10 yrs ago
T. R.
Wonderful, simply wonderful! Three of us ate, five different dishes, all of which were excellent. You have to like fish because there isn't much else. Very friendly waitress. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
A. Y.
If you are around Borough Market during lunchtime, definitely visit this place for their fresh and delicious seafood wraps. (warning: there might be a queue) The prawn wrap is succulent and tastes heavenly. I have been here for dinner once with family friends and although it is slightly pricey, you should definitely come here for the seafood which is fresh and prepared nicely.
k.
Well, I can’t really say too much about this place other than the food stall they have facing Borough Market… and there’s only one item on the menu there… ;-)
But that ONE is enough! It’s a mixed seafood and fish wrap with sour cream and sweet chili sauce and it rocks! One of the tastiest things I’ve ever tried around Borough Market!
C. W.
Really delicious fish (I had the tuna). Large portions. Friendly service. Would recommend
A. M.
Super amazing food. Highly recommended. The lobster porridge taste fantastic.
A good place have a relaxing with friends. Good for a drink or dinner.
J. F.
Best food I've ever tasted amazing hospitality best restaurant I've been to in London (and I've been to quite a few) amazing.
P. A.
My second visit to Applebee's . The fish and chips were as the last time superb! Book or go earlish. I when on a Tuesday and there were queues. People happy to wait in the cold for a seat. It is really that good!!
K. V. I.
Delicious. We got the Cajun fish wrap. Absolutely mouth watering. Fast service and fresh food.
T. M.
Stunning, my girlfriend and I have vowed to eat more fish (less red meat) and Applebees was outstanding. I had the sashimi duo for a starter and the lobster and asparagus linguine as a main - both sooooo good. A good wine list at affordable prices. Service was first class and friendly. Set in a magic part of London, a really enjoyable experience. Very highly recommended ++++++
D. W.
Outside table watching people walk past borough market. Not cheap restaurant, maybe we picked expensive items, but lovely food and a nice place to be. We love our fish and the choice and quality here is excellent
B. B.
Fanstatic, I don't even want to eat fish and chips anywhere else. It might ruin it for me
A. 1.
First visit yesterday...and what a lovely experience...waiting staff were nice & very attentive, without being too pushy! Food was excellent also. Had the seabass along with a creole salad (I think it was!). Would definitely dine here again!
A. K.
Quality food for moderate price, recommended.
We had nice experience: booked table online, appreciated atmosphere. Service was good and quick. Food was fresh and very well prepared.
They can do with a bit more choice, but perhaps it's hard for place this small. Still, we quite enjoyed it.
J. S.
Felt incredibly welcome when we first walked in. Drinks were taken promptly, scallops were sensational and the wife loved her vegetarian rissotto. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a romantic evening.
L. S.
Always great and fresh seafood here
y.
Can’t speak for the restaurant but the stall they have open during lunch is where I go when I’m in the mood to indulge but short for time. £6 will get you jumbo prawns, salmon, tuna, halibut and whatever (top quality) offcuts the restaurant have, sizzled in Cajun sauce with some crunchy lettuce and a squirt of sweet chili mayo - wrapped and ready to go
K. G.
Recommendation: Tuna! Absolutely decadent flavours worked well!
Service: Slow but friendly
Atmosphere: Felt like I was on holiday in the mediterranean! But potentially because it was a rare sunny day in London.
Other food: Reasonable but nothing special
R.
I went in the other day for dinner and I have to say it is a nice place to go but service is just not good... they keep you waiting for too long. Another thing don’t like (which does not relate to food but Not less important) why the need of putting two plastic straws in each drink ? No environmentally friendly they should be paper ones which are biodegradable.
M. K.
The fish is fresh and drinks menu interesting. I had a great elderflower Gin and tonic with grilled cod. Dessert was fig tart with amaretto ice cream. What a great meal! Easy to find location too.
J. H.
The quality of the fresh fish is amazing. So fresh. The takeaway they run outside is also beautiful. The prawn wrap is amazing well worth the que! The service is fast for the takeaway and so friendly when you buy fresh produce. Would recommend applebees to anybody and everybody.
C. L.
Wonderful ambiance for its location, very friendly employees. Food was just okay, though - I think I'm used to saltier fish from America, and the sauce was too strong 😝. Chips were yummy though!
P. C.
A good fishmonger with nice fresh fish during the day, with some restaurant seating. In the evening the fish shelves are covered and the whole place becomes a restaurant. They have nice fresh fish. If you eat there, I recommend sitting at the bar.
J. R.
Happy to talk fish. Often little understood for me but now I am converted. The mixed grill was beautiful and we were able to enjoy an early meal before getting home. The salmon in the grill was really moist and tasty. Thanks for the tour of your display and with the traditional outfits, wellies and all!
M. F.
Good food, incredible service
E. M.
Been here a few times and the food has always delicious! the staff really helpful and personable and owner Jack makes you feel welcome and really knows his wines! highly reccomend
J. H.
Service was slow despite not being very busy. Food was excellent.
A. (.
Excellent food but waiter seemed a bit too keen and kept wanting to tidy up - felt he was wanting us to pack up and go even though we kept ordering more wine!
R. B.
Always rated this place highly so disappointed today to find the nice chips have been replaced by bog standard catering pack ones.
Sort it out guys!
Short sighted cost cutting in your food always means you are at the start of the restaurant death cycle....falling revenue (restaurant only half full on a sunny day) leads to cost cutting, the loss of quality means customers don't come back or recommend, which means you look for more cost cutting, which leads to.....
Take a hit - up your quality and you business will build again...otherwise you'll end up like Fish!
C.
nice location and awesome food. the service was perfect too. prices seems to be not so high. you can see in the kitchen and watch the chefs at work
C. T.
Decided to eat here after looking at other places. There were plenty of people eating outside and inside. Nice atmosphere, staff were exactly what you wanted. Nothing too much trouble for them.
O. A.
Fantastic well cooked sea food. Very tasty
Y. L.
Fresh food and lovely service x
P. M.
Amazing seafood great service
M. D.
Delicious fresh oysters and fish, plus the service is friendly and prompt! A+
D. W.
Excellent fish dishes! We savour halibut, haddock, cod and seabass, all are fresh and delicious. Lobster Risotto is also not to be missed.
J. H.
Friendly service, albeit a bit slow. Food mostly delicious, albeit fish to batter ratio had too much batter. There are places that represent better value for money.
S. V.
Omg I miss this place ,food is so good a big plate yummy, I had fish and chips with mushy peas and a coffee x
A. M.
Get here for the cajun fried fish wrap outside for a fiver. If you do want to eat in, the mixed fish grill is epic but will cost you almost 20 squids (money not fish) but is worth it. Book a table since they get filled up fast.
J. W.
Nothing fancy but wonderfully fresh seafood cooked to perfection. Great service. Can't ask for more.
k. e.
Love the restaurant. V tasty.
M. C.
Everything we had was delicious... Its a bit pricey, but worth it for an occasional nice fish craving!
F. M.
Had fish and chips and they were ok. Batter was a little thick and soggy for me, chips ok. The bread and butter were very tasty.
R. C.
Very good food. Seafood linguine was excellent.
N. H.
It was beautiful experience. Just found the food a little bit bland.
C.
really expensive place. wasabi mayo sauce was really good. scallops were nice too. the pork belly in the scallops dish was kinda meh. creme brulee was very very good. i would return for the creme brulee and wasabi mayo
A. R.
Great scallops and excellent location with fantastic service!
S. D.
Busy but outside area to sit in. Bit cold last ngt, but as usual the food and service was excellent.
L. C.
Yesterday we both had fish and chips and I have never had batter that was so bad even the worst fish and chip shop could have done better. The waiter said the reason for the poor batter was because the fish (cod) was a watery fish??? the lady in the next table watched in horror as I tried to cut through the dence casing and encouraged me to send it back, which i did, appologies from the waiter not a sign of the inept chief. He came back with another plate of equally badly cooked fish but this time it was plaice and the watier said Plaice was not a wet fish so it would be fine??? I ate it this time but the batter was still wrong. The men on the next table as they were leaving said to me this place does nice food but they just can't do fish and chips. My husband is convinced that the fish was frozen accounting for the wet fish which created steam that sent the batter flat and tough.. the men said give them another chance but unfortunatly I would not go back there ever again and I would not recommend it to any one else... sorry Applebee's a big failure and a waste of money. The waiter was professional and did not charge me for my meal, we did tip him for his service (poor bloke) Oh the Lady who watched in horror said I was brave sending my fish back said unlike your Husband! what can I say....
W. P.
My mother and I just had a wonderful lunch there. The staff very friendly and the food excellent and hot. The fish soup and whitebait appetisers hit the spot!!
S. A.
Love the food. The best fish place in the area 🙌🏻
K. M.
Great tasting, superbly fresh fish.
S. D.
Mr. Applebee has been int he market for over 10 years and has gone from a simple local fishmonger to becoming one of the best providers of fish and the assortment surrounding it in the area. Worth the Saturday night booking for a wonderful meal.
P. D.
Very good and for London, reasonably priced dishes.Mainly sea food ,recommend Portuguese white wine.Good service and handy for nearby foodie market.
G. J.
Absolute belter of a night.
I had the lobster risotto which was outstanding and worked perfectly with the bottle of Chablis.
I cannot wait to go back to this place, would recommend to all.
C. M.
Good food but I’m not a fan of high tables and chairs, doesn’t give that fine dining vibe
H. R.
Clean good service great food
p. g.
One of the best fish restaurants in London, and I have eaten in a number including the likes of Scotts More casual, certainly but food and service first class
D. P.
Excellent food in a great location :)
D. L.
It's a small space, but the food is all so good it's the sort of place where 2 hours can go by without you realising! Also has a decent wine list.
L. C.

Really enjoyable, lovely food. Service a little blunt but I’ll put that down to a busy night. Will return again soon
A. W.
Average fish place. The food was just OK and the service was good. You are better served at Wright Bros down the street for good quality fish cooked well.
D. F. R. G.
Great selection of fish and seafood dishes with great quality and ok price for the zone (which is expensive...)
Been here 3 times so far and will probably be back.
M. A.
The seafood wrap is mouth watering delicious. Always a queue when I go there for the wrap. Service is good and fast.

I. &. L. S.
Wonderful meal and service on Saturday night. Only the second time we have been, but next time we are in London we will definitely be going back
P. G.
Make a reservation if you dont want to be given a time limit on how long you are allowed to stay.. so annoying. But the food is very good.

Food is okay but a bit oily. Also overpriced, both food and wines.
B. O.

Beware the 'mushy peas' - a curious sweet-tasting purée of garden peas rather than being made properly from reconstituted dried marrowfat peas.
