Reviews of Bar + Block Steakhouse Kings Cross

Yummy yummy yummy yummy yummy! We had lunch and the steaks were really nice! Mine was marinated in garlic and parsley for 24 hrs, super tender and packed with flavours! Perfectly located, close to king cross train station, nice large space inside with a lovely waitress. She was polite and prompt with the service. Would happily go back.

Now this served a burger and a 3 fish taster board. A beautiful restaurant just out side kings cross station. Fabulous food well cooked and tasty. Only a couple of ipa on offer but one was local Camden brewed so a nice touch (it was a fab beer too - Camden Hell) . You can see the grills clearly if in that section. A nice touch at the bar stool area is mains plugs and USB sockets for laptops & mobile phones etc. There are booths and large upper dining area. It's part of the hotel.
Really good food, nicely furnished too. Well recommended

good steak great chips. loved the sickly melted chocolate sphere although i wish it had more ice cream inside and less sauce. was a bit slow service at around 3pm but generally fine.

A beautiful location, the staff speaks nicely and offers quality. I recommend this restaurant & Bar 🍴🍻🇬🇧😜

Alot of the menu was missing. Would have been nice to know as we booked in advanced so they could have warned us over the phone. But the food we had was great. Although we had a long hair in our starter which I got told it was part of the food until I pulled it out then they immediately exchanged the food.

Very were nice place.
Food was amazing. Smoky BBQ beans were Lush.. 😙

A good value steakhouse beside the Premier Inn in York Way. If you are staying in the hotel, there will be a discount voucher in your room.

I booked Bar and Block for a work Christmas Party and I cannot recommend them enough for anyone who is looking to book for a large group. Staff were very helpful and accommodating from the outset, as this was a last minute booking, but they very kindly found space for us. The pre-ordering was really easy and efficient. There was a wide variety of options on the menu, so something for everyone, and really good value too.
Food arrived quickly and we all received our meals at the same time, which was a massive bonus as this rarely happens for mass catered events.
Drinks arrived promptly and staff were really diligent and accommodating.
My only criticism is that the restaurant require you to pay a deposit in person for large group booking, which is inconvenient. It would be much better if you could pay online.

Delicious food! And decent size portions. Amazing service by Sergiu C he was friendly and attentive.
S. T. G. “.
The bartender was not in the mood yesterday. He has mixed up my order and had to redo them, oh he was not impressed by it. Generally the restaurant looks nice, the cocktails were ok, and the service was poor. We drank our drinks and moved on. We didn't feel like spending our money there on food after the below average service at the bar.

All you can eat breakfast for £10.50 in central London, need I say more?

Took mum out for lunch to Bar + Block a couple of weeks ago and she has not stopped talking about the steak ! The service was wonderful, staff are so friendly and have a smile on their face so it definitely made the experience 10x better. The food was amazing, great presentation and cooked to perfection. Have already told all my friends about it!
Highly recommend their squid as a starter as well as the cocktails :)

Located just to the side of Kingscross Station....
The atmosphere was very nice. And the, staff at the beginning of service were very helpful... But as the evening progressed at it started getting busy. We found it had a knock on affect with are service..
The starters great selection and the complementary beef dripping popcorn went down. A treat... I had the mushroom starter with pancakes. But sorry to say the mushrooms were deep fried in batter and were very very small and lacking in any flavour bar the oil... The mussels were good as so was the squid. Just felt a little bit let down with the mushrooms..
Main was very good the steaks had loads of flavour. And cooked to perfection... As were the accompanying side dishes.
We did not have dessert.
But all in all for a central London steak house it was very sensibly priced. And a nice feel to the place. Did not feel rushed at any point and we had a good evening
Would recommend.

We didn't eat here, popped in for a drink with a group of work colleagues, booking the tables were easy and we were accommodated nicely space wise. There are plenty of tables in the restaurant but being as this is attached to a hotel and so close to the station I'd recommend pre booking. The whole place seemed quite clean and tidy however it isn't somewhere I feel I'd chose to go back to over any other establishment.

Lovely place, really big & airy, was late November so beautiful Christmas decs up too. Food was nice & service was good. Very well priced for London. Lunchtime menu £8 for a main course

All you can eat breakfast done nicely in a Central London (Kings X) location.
Scrambled eggs fluffy and yellow. The fried eggs not over fried and runny. Also you can choose poached egg made fresh to order.
The hashbrowns Mushrooms Tomatoes and baked beans taste like they are not the usual cheap stuff standard Cafes use.
Then you have your selection of cereals From Corn Flakes, Coco Pops, to Weetabix and museli. Choice of yoghurt and a basic fruit fresh fruit salad.
The croissant, pancake and Pan Au Chocolate is made fresh and goes perfectly with the jams honey and chocolate spread on offer.
All topped of with decent selection of coffee, teas and juices (not top end but also not cheap bottom end).
Internal decor and seating provides comfort and relaxation.
You literally cannot go wrong for £10.50 all you eat.
Highly recommended.

Great place for eating out. Located a stone throw away from St. Pancras Station its easily accessible and easy to find. The atmosphere when you go inside makes you feel welcome and you're greeted by the ever so kind personnel working there. The menu is full of options for the meat lovers out there as well as the vegetarian. We ended up having a fillet and a dish with fish as well as dessert. All of it tasted magnificent and the presentation was amazing. Highly recommended. Prices were sensible and the food tasted way better than it had any right too considering the prices. Top notch place.

Lovely food, friendly helpful staff. The staff were amazing, there was alot of us and the staff couldn't do enough to make sure we were all comfortable. Lovely relaxed atmosphere.

Spent a few nights in London at the attached premier inn and ate here on their deal. Main meals are limited but if you know that before coming it’s fine. Typical burgers and grills type meals - if that’s not your thing then probably best to look elsewhere. It was real busy on our first night with a lack of staff - some customers were getting peeved but the staff coped well and still had smiles on there faces when serving us which was remarkable. My daughter loved the Indian style burger which had a whole onion bhaji on it hence the thumbs up!
R. G.
The service did not match the actual meal. The place was busy, but I would not say over busy for a Saturday evening. It took over an hour, after being seated, for someone to take our oder. Being passed off with "in a minute" every time we tried to get someone's attention.. So for that a 1*.. In contrast, the actual meals, including the starters were delicious!! So for them a 5*

Overall: decent food with affordable price, not so sure about the customer serivces toward foreigners.
Reserved a table for 8:00pm, arrived there on time, waited 20 minutes of server just to bring a bottle of water, I ended up asking politely to bring a bottle of water to the table.
Then we ordered two main courses, two drinks. One is 10 oz. ribeye steak and the other is salmon. Starter was tasty but felt like I spent £1.5 for each scallops. After finishing starter in 10 min, Waited another 40 miniutes of main dishes to arrive. Only one main (the steak) arrived and for the other main (fish) the order did not go through. The steak however was perfectly cooked as medium except the fact I ordered medium rare. The photo with uncut steak is the one I returned back to the kitchen. Both waited another 25-30 minutes when the server said it would take roughly 5-10 minites.
So we had our main meal at 9:30 after 1hr and 30 minutes of waiting. The food was great with such price, but it was quite questionable if they discriminate people over look. I certainly don’t have a British accent, but I do speak English fluent enough to attend the research meetings and have an active conversations with others.
We, a friend of mind and I, were looking for a nice steak for me and vegetarian menu for my friend. As seen in pictures, the food itself is great. The server nor the manager wasn’t sorry nor thanking for waiting such long time, they worried more of other important things which you could clearly see and hear as well.
The bar was moody, cozy, and more welcoming than the restaurant booth. Ordered “something I cannot taste the alcohol, not too strong but strong enough to enjoy the summer night” and i got “americano martini” which was great! It perfectly fits with the descriptions. Skipped the desserts as we both were full.
m. s.
We started with the gnocchi and scallops. Both were delicious but very small portions. We ordered the burger and fish and chips. Both were good. Server was friendly and attentive. Great music playing in the restaurant!
S. B.
The steak was great, the beer was great, the dessert was great. The atmosphere was quiete unique in that area and very modern and well styled.
Unfortantely the service wasn't. The Waiter threw the receipt at the floor, after I refused to tip. After the male waiter walked away aggressively.
Edited pr. 28/04/2021.
The above comment is due to conflicts of different cultures. In DK most servers are paid monthly and are getting bonus from tips - this is not the common practise of London in general, thus one have had been too offended without reason. Which is why the score has been changed from 1 star to 4. And sorry for the dear waiter not getting paid for his excellent service of 20 people!
L. C.
We visited last night. The food was good and our server done an amazing job especially given how busy the restaurant was and that they appeared to be understaffed. Our only real issue was the reduced choice of white wines - only 2. That all said we would visit again when in London.
K. M.
It was OK. Acceptable fish & chips, efficient if not particularly friendly staff and a very pleasant glass of Viognier. Lots missing from menu and wine list, I'm guessing because of the current delivery issues. Just felt a bit soulless
L. H.
Fantastically friendly staff with good service. Food is great with an excellent menu available. The beef flavour popcorn given to you for free is lovely - can’t get enough of it. Will definitely go back.

Food was very nice and the atmosphere was very comfortable.

Decided to pop in to escape from the cold outside, but it turned out to be good. Had a good breakfast here! The toasts and steak were fantastic! The steak especially were cooked to a nice medium! Pricing was decent too. There’s a buffet that u can have for less than £11, but we didn’t ordered that cos it was too much for us. Overall 👍🏻
V. W.
This is such a lovely and reasonably priced steakhouse in London, by King's Cross station. You get given popcorn as a starter, which is not uncommon at steak houses now. The best thing about is that the popcorn is somehow steak flavoured. We literally could not stop ourselves from eating this.
I had an 8oz ribeye which only cost £17 including some chunky chips. I'd definitely recommend this place and go there again when I'm next in London.
T. L.
Yeah, great bar with friendly staff, no loud sports or music (Apart from the odd city suited a-hole who just HAS to watch football on his phone without headphones) so you don't have to "scream" at each other across the table. One MAJOR criticism, do NOT expect your table to be cleared of empties. It ain't gonna happen, even after the table behind us had left 2 hours earlier. That includes dirty plates cups and cutlery and wasted food. And they wonder why they get vagrants in begging and stealing what's left. Not very nice when you wanna sit down
K. D.
We were going to an event at Kings Place, and ended up stopping here (unplanned) for dinner before the show. My partner loves a steak but I'm really fussy so usually eat veggie. Luckily the menu had a fantastic sounding veggie burger which lived up the the promise! (Courgette/halloumi/fritter thing, absolutely delicious.) And my partner's steak was cooked perfectly, he was very pleased with his food too. The server we had was excellent, very attentive and welcoming. And free beef popcorn! Bewilderment quickly switched to happiness - it shouldn't work but it does. It only took about 10/15 minutes from ordering to have our food on the table, which was great since we only had an our to get seated, eat, and get to the venue.
Drinks and food both very reasonably priced (2 meals and a pint each for about £35) and we were pleased on all counts. Would absolutely recommend this place, and props to the staff who are doing a great job :)

4 of us came here on a Sunday evening.
We shared some starters including the Salt & Pepper Squid (£6.50). The batter was very loose & crumby but overall it was quite nice with the red chilli. Not sure if the tiny portion is worth £6.50 though.
I had the Halloumi Courgette Burger w/ fries (£10.95). A lot of places serve Halloumi Burgers with tomato, lettuce, mayo and relish, others with mushroom/aubergine and hummus but this one was absolutely covered in Tzatziki, which is a first for me. On top of that, there was a courgette & feta fritter inside so it was double cheese. All I could taste was feta & yogurt and couldn’t taste the Halloumi at all...
The Tiki Mocki Mocktail (£3.50) was very nice.
The food took quite a long time to arrive, even though it wasn’t that busy.
The staff were nice. Ambience was pleasant and not too loud.
I wouldn’t say it was an experience to bring me back again but it’s quite convenient if you’re getting a train from Kings X and want a bite to eat.
V. A.
Food was ok. Would definitely return for the Middle Eastern King Prawns. That dish was the highlight of the evening and we would have been happy with just that. It was simply superb!
A. S.
Lots of menu choices for meat eaters with a couple of veg options too. Happy hour is good though cocktails could do with a bit of sprucing up.
Food is pretty good. Steaks can be cut to your weigh requirements.
Nice environment with a touch of up market feel to it. Mix of regular punters and post-office drinks/meals.
Colleague ordered blue steak but served as more on the medium side. Staff were very accommodating and replaced it without a fuss.

Came across this place on Facebook, I think.
Suggested to a friend that for a catch up we should grab breakfast here, and we were not disappointed. They have a buffet breakfast with everything you’d expect in a full English brekky but also continental breakfast & tea, coffee + juice was included in the price too! My friend and I stayed a good while and they didn’t hassle us like at some places, we ordered a couple of drinks and they were fine with us. I’d definitely return again!
K. C.
Actually the best steak I've had from the butchers block (featured/special/guest dish). Professional service; A mistake was made with our drinks, but spotted and rectified by our waiter without prompt. Reasonably priced when you consider it's quality steak, in London, next to a major transport hub. The beef popcorn was a quality touch.
T. B.
The express menu is delicious! The steak sandwich is proper good, very decent size and the service was excellent as well. You can have a pint of beer or a glass of wine for £1! Definitely will go back.
C. A.
Loved the food, love the service, love the atmosphere...I was a visitor in london and I stumble across this beauty of a restuarant.
Definitely my favorite place!
M. T.
You almost know to expect good food however as a table for one, i was a bit overlooked/forgotten about by the staff. Nice steak, slightly under cooked but still good.
S. M.
So my 12 year old daughter picked tonight and I was not disappointed. I really like my food. I literally eat everything apart from cauliflower. We had a lovely popcorn pot put on our table when we entered. Beautiful touch. I had the surf and turf. Medium. The Steak was gorgeous, as I would have hoped, the restaurant being a steak house. The lobster, not 100%. The po* canal was still attached. Which kind of turned my tummy. Anyway everything else was yum. The desserts. I had pavlova. Amazing. Just wow. Perfect balance of sweet and sour. Alex had the pasta and triple choc brownie. Both really really tasty.
N. G.
Friendly staff and lovely food.
B. G.
Brilliant food, was very busy so had to wait longer between courses than we liked but didn't spoil our evening
Only one sergestion please look at serving normal bread and butter to go with your fish and chips
Thanks for a lovely evening
R. B.
Didn't get here till quarter to close, fantastic service. Some of the best food I have eaten in a hotel restaurant. Cannot recommend enough ❤️
P. W.
Tried the full English breakfast while staying upstairs at the Premier Inn. Brekkie was tasty, good value and better than the chain cafes nearby and in the station. Didn't try dinner but it looked and smelled good when I passed by in the evening. Recommended.
B. D.
Enjoyable food, good service, good space and 2 minutes away from King's cross. Would have their breakfast again with pleasure, beans were good, beef hash pleasant and I managed to get a sausage to avocado swap. Coffee seems to be Costa license.
R. H.
Really enjoyed eating here. Fillet steak was excellent, as was the fish and chips. Who would have thought that beef flavoured popcorn existed - every day is a school day!
G.
Great food and a decent price! The steak was lovely and the half price cocktails were great too. Would definitely come again.
D. D. R.
Cosy atmosphere, decent food and drinks, plus extremely friendly staff. Can get busy at it is close to the station.

I took a random breakfast in London before visiting British Museum. They offer a-le-cart or branch buffet. I picked a set breakfast as I would like to save my time for museum. Nice food and warm place. As a Hongkonger, I would be more appreciate if the breakfast included a cup of coffee or tea.
This restaurant is inside a hotel so some of the customers lived there.
D. F. W.
Randomly stopped my adventures for a quick bite. The open club sandwich sounded good, looked wonderful, but ive no idea how they intend for people to eat it. Finally decided on knife and fork and it was quite good. A veriety of textures and tastes but the paper under it got soaked with avocado and whatever sauce and egg goo.
All in all tasty.
The mac n cheese bites where wonderful!
G. A.
Delicious meal and quick service!

Great breakfast whilst staying at the Premier Inn. Pancakes off the menu one day which was a shame for my kids.
T. L.
Best meal we had in London couldn't fault it top service food great very happy
M. V.
Friendly staff and fast service! I expected the sirloin to be a lot more tender and therefore it wasn't really 100% worth the price to me.
V. S.
Slow service, average quality of meat but the pairing of the meat, sides, and sauces is decent. Salad was ok.
F. A.
Excellent food great service highly recommend the steaks are amazing

We had looked on-line at the menu before booking, unfortunately what we fancied was not available when we arrived ( delivery problems ).
What we had was very nice but its a bit of a let down when you fancy something in particular.

good menu , plenty to choose from good service , great value

Friendly staff, comfortable. Arrived too late for the food, but did sit down for a drink.
Selections on tap are rather limited, but should be something there for most tastes.

Feels like a Wetherspoons, its quite pricey for mediocre food nevertheless very popular for travellers

Great steak, good value for money but restaurant lacks atmosphere!

Really good food but table service could be faster with basic reactions ☺️ anyways anyways all experience and prices was good 🙂defo can recommend this place

Went with a buddy for a late birthday lunch. Great spacing for social distancing and really comfortable.
Had the nachos and Korean ribs to share as a starter. Nachos a mixture of soft and crispy which was really nice, had a really nice kick. The ribs were just banging! Fell right off the bone!
We both had a 16oz sirloin and it was the best cooked steak I've had - even at much higher price points! Perfect all the way through for my medium rare and same for his medium. Sauces were nice and served on the side so you know the meat was good. We had the chips and mash (shut it!) and the chips are something special.
We had an Old Fashioned (cocktail) each with which they definitely werent shy on the Bourbon! And 2 draught pints
They price is very reasonable for both food and drinks and if you have blue light card you get 33% off!!!!
Thank you very much Bar+Block for a great afternoon!
A. D.
We had great food and good service. Meat was good and the staff welcoming and cheerful. Recommended!

Great good. Great service. 10 pound lunch!

Went on a Monday afternoon.
As you would expect the place was empty, so no issue with being able to social distance.
Ordered the Steak sandwich with Chunky Chips which the waiter specifically asked if I wanted. So far so good.
The glass of red wine came in a dirty lipstick covered glass.
The sandwich came cold with French Fries and not the Chunky Chips.
There should have been no excuse for this shoddy service given how empty the place was.
W. I.
Delicious food but unfriendly staff, alcohol is overpriced
V.
Good steak. Friendly service. Good value.
N. &. J. B.
Undercooked steak, went back to be recooked, came back and still wasn't right. Apart from that, all good.
M. S.
I have been there twice order the 10mins menu and the two times took them more than 45 minutes to serve me, last time not even an aplogy... outrageous...
L. P. E.
Great food, supee friendly service, very chilled place and quite busy...only negative is they ran out of draft and bottled beet
M. F.
Great food and fantastic staff. Loved it. Great surf n turf too.
L. C.
I have take one beer in this bar! Recommended! The Barman Raffaele is a very good boy!
M. F.
Just an OK experience
Pastries are not hand made,
Meats from cooked breakfast weren't that fresh and there was no fruits on the continental breakfast section.
S. L.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated. However, we spent about 5mins waiting at an empty host area waiting to be seated. The waiter we eventually had was pleasant. I would not recommend the flattened chicken salad. It would be nice if they did smaller sized steaks too. Smallest they do is 8 oz.
S. F.
Great food, attentive staff and fantastic value! Will be back
R. T.
Excellent food and excellent service would definitely come again
C. S.
Waiting staff were great and very apologetic as being served was super slow. I wasn't in a hurry at all but it was very slow. This was clearly not the fault of the waiting staff at all (or should I say waiter) but of the management. There just was not any staff on the floor. As we were leaving at 4pm, two more staff appeared on shift. Food was great though. Loved the steak and the value was excellent. They just need to work on their staffing levels.
N. L.
Excellent customer although very short staffed. Food was average
S. M.
This place is quite convenient and s great meeting place. Sharing platter is good, burger is good and so is the sirloin. It's quite busy in here but probably because the food is of a consistent standard and you know what you're gonna get. Much better than other restaurants attached to premier Inn. Would definitely go back.
K. C.
Had breakfast here very good and reasonable
J. P.
Very good steak and friendly staff. Didn't need to wait even though it was packed.
J. M.
Lovely place to eat. Had breakfast there. £9-99 for full English and unlimited refills of coffee and tea
n. w.
Great quality burgers and so close to King's Cross and The Premier Inn where i tends to stay a lot these days!
L. O.
Food was tasty but don’t order a salad unless you want to pay for practically no food on your plate, had to send it back to get more leaves on it as there was hardly anything to it, poor value for money.
The sandwiches looked hearty and yummy. The waitress was friendly and fixed the problem with the small salad but I felt like the whole restaurant knew and wasn’t very discreet.
I’d eat here again but maybe not if I was hungry!
That said it’s nice to have somewhere to go to eat in Sutton that’s a bit more upmarket.
l. k.
Good food even, better drinks, great mojitos.
C. M.
Good food for premier inn friendly service no complaints.
S. R.
Went on a 50mins journey to get here with the family. Food was good but I didn't really feel the service, as though we were being rushed, we booked a table of 5 for 9.15pm with the kitchen closing at 10 so maybe that's why?!
Ordered the spiral ribeye which was great and my wife the Wellington which she wasn't too keen on the pastry.
Kids seemed to enjoy their burgers.
Free Popcorn on table were nasty and pointless.
Overall a decent place with a decent meat selection and good value for money.
G. M.
Fantastic food, great service. Good selection of kids sized meals that were are popular with the 3 kids (aged 6-9) in our group when we dined. We didn't book our table and fortunately it wasn't too busy so they were able to accommodate us (7 people).
Google recommended it to us for a family friendly night out, just be aware that although it's definately family friendly, it's not a cheap meal but we felt it was worth it in quality and service.

A little bit pricey but attached to hotel and caters to expense account crowd. Self payers should opt for bar food, or modest burgers or sign up to receive vouchers. At full price, it's pricey. Service always great and unfussy ambiance and pub drinks still make it a great venue.

We booked at last minute. Was brought the popcorn nibbles and bottle of water without having to ask. Complimentary nibbles before a well cooked steak and fries followed by lemon cheesecake. Beautiful meal. Well priced and the staff were excellent, attentive and very friendly. Would recommend highly.
S. H. T.
The location is clean and the staff was great. We didnt like the crispy beef appetizer, it was too sweet and had a bad texture. But the steaks we got were great and cooked perfectly. Both my husband and I really liked the peppercorn sauce.
S. R.
Bar visitors are very loud and there is no barrier so you hear all the noise while eating in the restaurant.
Food is quite tasty. Personnel could be more friendly and also more mindful about empty plates and glasses.
I got a soup soon for desert and have too ask for an smaller spoon. That shouldn’t happen in that class of restaurant.
J. K.
Good service, large portions, good for a business lunch or meeting friends. Baby change in need of a little TLC but not a deal breaker.
J. B.
I'm honestly surpirsed the reviews are so good.
The food was pretty good, both my friend and myself enjoyed the steaks we'd ordered, but I wouldn't say they were anything special.
The service was really slow, and the host was clearly out of her depth.
We had a nice enough time, but I wouldn't come back or recommend it.
P. W.
The Filet Steak is the Best I've had...well cooked and thick
P. F.
Beautiful restaurant and very well cooked steaks... Did NYE here with my family and loved it... Nice prices too.
M. C.
Mixed grill was excellent and the staff were fantastic
S. A.
Best steak, friendly service, comfortable seating. I would definitely recommend this place. They are really busy so dont forget to book. Not the place for quite and calm dinners as very crowded, but good for groups. Give it a try. Affordable prices when you compare with other places.

Went a couple weeks ago and the Sunday roast beef was mouth watering just from the smell
R. M.
Food was mostly amazing apart from shredded beef noodles which were cold compared to the rest of the food. We went for lots of small dishesnand they were great. Cocktails are amazing I went for the candyfloss martini and you get real delicious candy floss! Took a while to be served and have card machine brought over when done despite it being quiet and in the middle of the day.
Over all a good experience
冠.
Very nice steak and fish n chips
A. S.
Great place for a group catch up drink
Y. C.
Went there yesterday with my friend absolutely amazing food and staff. Thanks Ben and demitry(team leader I think that’s his name)
J. L.
Came here with a friend one night who had to travel late from kings cross. The food was pretty decent, not the best steak house, more in line with other chains but it was really good value. We shared 5 of the starter plates , had a main each and a few sides and a couple of drinks and the bill was about £100. I thought that was really reasonable considering proximity to the station.
I probably wouldn't plan on coming here for a meal but if I an in kings cross and hungry or have time to kill before catching a train I would definitely pop back in. The staff were all really friendly and it's quite chill in there, sometimes I find steak house a bit stuffy but this spot had a really calm vibe.

Great food. Hannah was amazing. 👏
Z. F.
I love this place! They serve high quality meals, their menu is large, The chief cook in that restaurant is a real pro, I love a lot trying all their dishes. The food is always fresh, the attitude towards the customers is friendly. I visit often this place and I not even once was unhappy. I recommend it to all.
J. D.
So the food is nice, but the place itself felt a bit chilly. The children's menu is good value when the burgers themselves having a very home made taste to them. Yum. Beware of the dressing, some kids don't like anything other than ketchup!
p. n.
We have been here several times, breakfasts are amazing, great value. Evening meals are good, I would like more choice on the menu but you wouldn't expect to eat in one restaurant every night and I've given 5*'s. Worth going.
H. W.
What the f is this POPCORN?! It's bloody amazing. It tastes like BEEF!
Can't fault any of the food; steak, sharing platters, squid, burgers all good.
Service was friendly and competent.
Bathroom impeccable.
I will return.
c. b.
What a place to go and eat. Beautiful food and ambience. A varied menu, I've eaten here on many occasions. Trust me the Sunday roast option is the bee's knees. Visit and you will not be disappointed
S. H.
The food was lovely. Slightly over priced for portion size for a steakhouse but exquisitely tasty
V.
So, this place although attached to the Premier Inn and the in-house restaurant for guests is strong enough to be a good eatery in its own right.
I chose the fish and chips and as is usually the case with restaurant served fish and chips, it was well presented although the mushy peas were sweeter and pureed not mushy as I expected them to be. My partners food was equally well presented sufficiently tasty and in all good value. We did have a mix up with a desert, their idea of vanilla ice cream isn't mine but I'll say that was an abboration, nothing more. If you enjoy steaks then give it a try,.
The staff were friendly and the facilities clean and overall layout and setting was very good.

Great food, sharing portions and fare price

Stayed at Kings cross premier Inn last night with my husband, and we also paid for the meal deal. We went down for dinner and were seen to straight away. After being seated we were handed our menus and our waiter, Andrei, brought us a bottle of water and some beef flavoured popcorn (free). We both had a main and a sweet, and also " nibbles". The food was delicious and 5* quality. I highly recommend this place, it is wheelchair accessible and friendly, affordable, and though you don't need a reservation you really should book a table as it gets full very quickly. The service is excellent and Andrei was on top form.
J. C.
Really nice food and attentive staff. Well priced compared to the restaurants on the canal up the road. Large choice of steaks, sharing plates and tapas grill dishes. A main and two drinks will cost approx £30
L. L.
Juicy steak. Not cheap but cooked very well. We were a party of 10 and all the guests said there food was tasty and well presented.
I had Tira de Ancho as my main. Cooked rare and to perfection. Delicious sauce with tender, fatty beef with a good portion size. Engaging, friendly staff who couldn't be more accommodating with the surprise birthday party.
Thanks for a great day.
L. G.
Went there for breakfast and it was delicious, pretty expensice for a relatively small portion tho
D. L.
Nice food, pleasant staff
L. S.
A really great atmosphere & vibes at my recent visit to Bar+Block. Surprisingly chilled for being so near to the mania of Kings Cross station. I thought the complimentary popcorn to start was a really nice touch!
I ordered the veggie burger (without any brie). Despite getting my order wrong initially, when the burger came it was really delicious.
Would thoroughly recommend this place if you’re in the area!

Excellent food fantastic staff lovely atmosphere, food was delicious highly recommend
S. B.
My wife and I enjoyed our meMy wife and I had a meal here on a busy Saturday night (we had previously booked a table). We really enjoyed the experience and can point to more positives than negatives. Once you are seated the service is excellent, the staff are very fast and you seem to have multiple staff looking after you at once but it's very well co-ordinated which impressed us. The prices are very reasonable, you aren't paying London prices, you are paying beefeater prices. The place has a very nice ambience and the staff all seem very pleasant, professional and it's nice to go to a place that actually employ enough table staff. The only things that stop me giving it 5 stars are that my wife's rump steak was slightly overcooked, she asked for medium but it was more on the well done side. Also it gets very busy on a Saturday night but there is only one person at the desk who greets customers, this means that a long queue forms, they have so many staff at the tables but only one at the desk, they need two when it's busy. I would definitely go back here, but if you are going at the weekend definitely book a table first.
J. G.
The steak was lovely and for a good price too. Got a table with ease on a Saturday night which was surprising. Beer was cheap also considering it is London and a restaurant. Was about £4.50 for a pint of Corona. Would recommend
-.
Had snacks and drinks after a gig. Great service and food. Can highly recommend!
B. H.
Fantastic steak that was cooked to perfection. My daughter is celiac so the staff were knowledgeable and a good selection was available. We came back for the buffet breakfast which catered really well for celiac.
A. C.
Very pleased with my meal here last night! The beef popcorn nibbles were amazing, staff attentive but unintrusive and prices very reasonable. I'm a little picky at times but there was more than enough variety to choose from. Crispy gnocchi and salt beef salad are both recommended!
R. G.
The 3* is for the staff and their enthusiasm to try and do a good job...but...there are some things lacking. This review is just about the bar and not the restaurant. Firstly, if your going to serve cocktails, have enough staff around so that your other customers are not waiting on occasion over 15 minutes for just a pint please. Second, teach your staff how to pull a pint. I've lost count of the number of times I've sat and watched bar staff throw almost a full pint of froth away, and then still leave me with a beer that my 4 year old granddaughter could do better at pulling. Could be a great bar, with just a little bit better leadership.
p.
I love this place. The food and drinks are reasonably priced for the area. It’s clean, warm and cosy inside, but what makes this place so special is the people working there. It’s a very international team and everyone is so nice and friendly. I live in the area and come here quite often for a quick drink and a light snack. I’ve never had a bad experience.
g. h.
Great steaks at reasonable prices..nuff said..😋👌
L. M.
Really great steak! I got the surf and turf which is an 8 ounce steak and a huge prawn on top. It was meant to be cooked in garlic butter but couldn't taste it and the prawn was on the smaller side but the thick chips and great steak made up for it! My brother ordered medium rare steak and it came borderline rare that was edible. However I think he got a bad batch because there was a lot of nerve but he asked if he could possibly get another one as he couldn't eat it and wasn't cooked enough. The waiter was very helpful and bought the next steak without hesitation! The waiters are exceptional.... really attentive and never took too long with anything. Timing was perfect! I would definitely recommend to visit.
J. W.
Pleasant staff and a nice and clean restaurant. Good news it that as a steakhouse, it does provide tasty steak. three of us shared three sauces, all of which were lovely. Steaks come with a small pot of chips that were fine/not great, but probably enough, and samphire, there were a few strands when we had expected it as a more substantial vegetable side/accompaniment. £16.50 for 8oz Ribeye and chips and I think it would be worth it if it came with more veg. Sides are vastly overpriced, £4.50 for a bowl of about no more than 8 onion rings.
G. B.
Amazing experience while in London for the week. It was easy to find and had some amazing offers. Only a short walk from King's Cross. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the staff were really engaging. It turns out we have a bar and block at home and has become a regular place to visit because of this visit. Would rate it Higher if possible
A. K.
Stayed at the associated Premier Inn. Restaurant was busy for a Weds night when I checked in, so I left it for an hour and half to see if it would calm down / the after work crowd had moved on. A fair wait to be seated for dinner, longer to be asked for my order. Although the waiter did apologise for the wait, it would have been courteous for his colleague to mention when showing me to a table that someone would be over at some point, as I was left wondering whether I'd been forgotten about. If you're a single traveller and it's busy, prepare to have minimal levels of service. (The breakfast service was better). Food was good, but not good value.
Updated 23.04.19 Better service second time around by eating earlier.
D. S.
If first impressions would be all that mattered, this restaurant would receive much less than 4 stars. When I walked through the door and sat down at the bar, the bartender rudely greeted me with "Yes?". When I indicated that I would like some food, they pointed me toward the hostess in the middle of the restaurant. This person was clearly stressed and, thus his greeting was polite but strained; he made every effort to convey that he wanted my business and asked that I wait a very brief time. Given that I had already walked a long while to find this place, I consented. From the moment he was able to find a table for me, my experience was nothing but positive. The steak was cooked to perfection and the house salad was delicious. My server was attentive to my needs throughout the meal and promptly returned with the items I ordered.
It's very difficult being a solo diner in London - not every place is happy to see your face and some are more direct about their displeasure than others. I'm glad I persevered through the initial disappointment at this restaurant and was rewarded with a delicious meal.
N. W.
Expensive for portion size but atmosphere nice.
D. H.
The beaf was a little bit overcooked. But the atmosphere in restaurant was awesome.
E. P.
Lively and great food. A real surprise in kkings Cross.
T. F.
Amazing food, great service, child friendly, 100% would recommend!
O. S.
Great food, great staff. Maybe being a bit harsh in dropping a star but the table for two we had was tiny and seemed in the way so this really took away from the dining experience which was otherwise excellent!
H. J. H. (.
A great range of delicious food with vegetarian options, whether you're wanting breakfast, dinner, or just some bar snacks with some drinks. Good service polite and helpful. Mostly speedy service however we did wait a while on two occasions for our bill and again to then pay for the meal. Other than that a wonderful place with a great atmosphere, also conveniently linked straight onto the Premier Inn.
S. B.
My wife and I went to the one in Aldgate yesterday for Sunday lunch and it was fabulous. They don't just serve roast beef - it's more like tender steak, and there's plenty of it, and of veg, cauliflower cheese and roasties. The best thing about our experience was that when the beef came, it was a bit overcooked, but before we could say anything, the waiter came over with some perfectly cooked meat. He had noticed it wasn't quite right at first and decided to fix it without us having to say word. Fantastic service. The Yorkshire pud was a bit disappointing but my guess is they'll fix it soon. There's a decent wine list too, at prices lower than most restaurants in the area. I'd totally recommend this place.
S. W.
Just wanted to say thanks for the outstanding service. We were originally 10, then 12, then 8 on the booking (people dropping in and out) then finally 7 plus 1 for drinks not dinner. We got to to B&B and the booking said for 6 people as our last minute order was missed (completely understandable), but the staff quickly put a table for 8 together (asking a very nice couple if they could move for us, which they did so thank you to them as well). Our pre-order was pre-checked with us and there was 1 main in error which was again very quickly fixed. Thereafter we enjoyed a lovely meal with attentive staff who managed a rag tag bunch with patience and good service. Food was great too. Thanks again. It was a lovely night and I really appreciated the quality service.
J. W.
This is situated within the Premier Inn complex adjacent to King's Cross Station. We ate in here Friday , Saturday and Sunday evenings. It was packed out on both Friday and Saturday. A bit quieter on the Sunday. The food we had was excellent and the choice was good. I cannot comment on the Bar aspect as we were staying within the hotel and did not use the bar. Cons. Music playing in competition with the noise of people talking, I thought the music was unnecessary.
R. B.
Steak here was great, beer was good too. The starters I found disappointing.
Steak was tender and prepared as I had asked for. The quality of the meat and the flavour were good. The fries were hot and crispy. Salad was fresh etc...
The starters were indifferent at best, burnt ends were chewy and appears to have been rolled around in fat from the bottom of a roasting tin. Calamari was bland and a bit chewy.
L. H.
Staff accommodated us during a busy period with no booking. Very friendly. Nice atmosphere. Lovely food. Very reasonably priced.
Special thanks to Aliha's service on the night
T. L.
One of the best steaks I have had! Very reasonable prices as well!
D. K.
Generally OK, but the food was underwhelming for the price.
F. S.
i love this place SO much! The burger was the best burger i've ever had in my life. the service was great, the decor was cool, and everything was clean. when i go back london, i will be sure to come back her at least twice!
B.
Good burger and fries. Friendly staff
D. W.
Lovely food, excellent wine...and they do an express menu where your dish arrives in under 10 mins! They even put a timer on your table! Obviously this is only for certain dishes but the choice is still good.
They also have the most amazing bbq flavoured popcorn, that you get for free! 👌😜😆
S. 4.
Really lovely restaurant with a great menu and very friendly staff. Served a little pot of popcorn and tap water on the table which was such a nice touch. Food was really really delicious but thought the price was a little too high. Would recommend. Good location as it is about 5 mins from kings cross.
F. B.
Breakfast buffet was pretty decent, there were hot and cold foods to choose from. Had dinner there once and it was o.k. The best thing there though was their desserts. Or group we had kept wanting to go back here for desserts each night. The big brownie and the churro with ice cream seemed to be a favorite.
K. K.
Rather conveniently located.
The setup of the restaurant is somewhat nonreflective of the prices charged since the table seating is directly next to a rather loud bar.
Certainly a mix of trying to serve two crouds in one open-plan area is not a good idea. The business likely does well due to location alone.
The service was intermittent and rushed - reflective of the standard I would be expecting at the bar, but not the restaurant.
On the plus side, the 10oz ribeye which I had was cooked perfectly, and was indeed a great cut. (Not all too rare in London...)
In conclusion; conveniently located and decent food, but won't be going back in a hurry.
T. H.
Nice place, let down by the staff and aims of the dishes. I had a lovely 12oz fillet cooked rare, but my friend ordered a medium well done steak, and it was also rare. IT system failed, but no one told us, so we were waiting 45mins for our meal, and about 20mins for drinks. Definitely better steak houses in London.
J. B.
Excellent food, great steak menu, pretty good selection of beer on tap but the service is what really sells this place. All of that and the prices are pretty reasonable for a super popular steakhouse in London. If you visit London then this place should be on your short list.
E. D.
The food was great and the drinks were good. My only issue is that the cups were dirty, had finger print stains and watermarks and the plates had watermarks too but other then that a good place but a bit over priced for socially acceptable food and beverages.
S. A.
Not ready for guests at 12noon - overall good food, friendly staff.
J. H.
Fair restaurant but nothing special, steaks are good and well cooked. Portions are healthy, I also tried the chicken which was tender but a tad dry. Quite a busy bar with local hotel guests and businesses making use of it.
c. b.
Excellent steak. Amazing quality
D. M.
A relatively predictable bar and grill attached to a hotel. It was clean and bustling. The service was a little bit slow. The holumi fries were amazing.. seriously I would go back just for those! And the fish and chips were average at best.
D. L.
Excellent value
D. b.
Absolutely amazing enjoyed every momentof it. Could not fault them in anyway the chef even cut the steak up for me as I am disabled person with the use of only one arm so a big thank you too you and even the waitress was great and really help full and will certainly be coming back
N. F.
Good value! Had a great dinner with a bottle of wine and some good steaks. Perfect atmosphere for talking with friends in a not-too-busy setting on a weekday night.
T. S.
Good steaks available in almost any size you think you can handle. Cooked well for a decent price. Staff weren't great but did a decent job. Would return for the food more than the service.
J. C.
Tasty steak and convenient location- went back 2 days in a row.
S. B.
Wonderful food and wonderful staff. Highly recommend.
A. H.
Nice food, and the waitress simona was great👍.
A. B.
Took my girlfriend here for her birthday the other day and wasn't disappointed!!! The service as soon as you walk in is amazing and everyones smiling... The food was way beyond what we was expecting (I would recommend the brownie dessert!!) this is my new go to place :)
M. G.
Ok but nothing special. £40 for olives, 10oz ribeye steak and fries, three balls of ice-cream and a pint of Aspalls. Steak tasted good but had fair line of tendon through it. Gluten free items not marked on menu. Waitress first brought me a complex ring binder of ingredients to try and make sense of; when I complained, the manageress came over to try and explain what might be gluten free, but without being too clear. And one of the few gluten free starters (tandoori wings) was out of stock. So not a marvellous experience.
E. M.
First time here. Staff were lovely and very friendly. Very good with my young daughter. Service was excellent and cleanliness standards were very high. Thank you
T. G.
Quiet, no queues, good food, relaxing atmosphere.
A. L.
Restaurant was very good enjoyed evening meal and breakfast
P. R.
Food is good, grill and burger stuff, you know, and big steaks. No real cooking skills involved. Space is neutral and ample. Good for casual biz lunches.
P. Q.
Nice place with good food. Perfect place for a drink with friends.
K. B.
Excellent food, friendly staff, very clean premises, varied menu if food and drinks, the cocktails looked amazing too, I was given a free dessert as it was my birthday! Nice touch, thankyou
F. L.
Good food and great happy hour between 5 and 7 but poor service especially if you order food at the bar. We ordered a cheese board that was very generous, but then they brought only 5 crackers with it, we had to ask twice for knives and got forks instead...and so on.
K. H.
Very reasonable prices for good quality steaks. The food is cooked well and very tasty. Limited cider choices. This bar also serves as the restaurant for the hotel next door.
A. D. (.
Good food, slow service. We attended as a group of four, waited around 10 minutes 'after' we ordered drinks to even arrive .......
The food came out, tasted great which was the saving grace for this place - so not sure what happened when we ordered drinks initially.
Would return, if I was in the area - but wouldn't go out of my way.
O. F.
The steak was cooked to perfection and the fiery black sauce was amazing. Possibly Q little overpowering for some. For me it was an excellent meal and a nice atmosphere.
L. S.
The food is amazing the service is kinda average we had about 4 people serve us. Noone was in a rush to take our order they were all just chilling out next to the dumb waiter next to our table. But I would say after observing how they treated other guests we were just that one off table.
R. S.
Restaurant has a really clean, simple, minimalistic and laid-back vibe. You feel at home right away. We ordered a third plate of steak, delicious!!
C. O.
went after looking everywhere for food and we had to pick our cases up from the hotel nearby got a good recomendation so decided to try the resteraunt . We both had the 12 oz rump medium the flavour ws amazing and decent price at 12.99 would recomend
S. M.
Good service and even better food.
R. A.
Had the short beef rib most excellent food, cocktails are average, only worth it during happy hour. Waiting service again alright, too many different people served to make an accurate description on how good it was
H.
Good value, slow service over breakfast but otherwise good
T. C.
Fabulous food, lovely staff. Will definitely return 😁
S. B.
Very good food, primarily steak, at a fair price for the area. Service okay but could be a little better. Also cocktail list is limited
K. S. k.
Hi visit with my friends steaks was wander full. Top quality steak. My waiter was shah , he is wonderful great service polite good knowledgeable about menu, we will definitely coming back again
O.
Brilliant steaks, reasonable prices for London and good service
N.
Visited for a few drinks, quick service and staff were friendly. Sat down at a table which had old drinks and food on which hadn't been cleaned up. Took a while for staff to tidy it up, but not a major problem for us. If I'm around Kings X again waiting for a train, I'll be sure to pop back!
C. M.
Great food and a nice slightly more upmarket experience than a lot of other places around KK.... steak was really good and staff were friendly and attentive.... will definitely be back!
C. B.
Went for a catch up with friends. Nice atmosphere - service was good - food was excellent. Been there before - it could become a regular for the group.
J. E.
The food was good and fairly priced. Despite being incredibly busy the staff were polite and very helpful. An enjoyable dining experience
T. O.
Food very nice, service attentive and quick. Tables slightly too close together for my liking, but it wasn't over crowded.
O. J.
Great quality steaks for the price point. Starters and desserts good too. One improvement is that I wish they had bigger sharing steaks e.g. porterhouse, otherwise really good
M. L.
Unexpectedly nice inside and great service. They have a cheap, quick lunch menu and the bar has a lot of space. Would definitely come back!
J. P.
Food was great we enjoyed it
B. M.
The food here is really good. We had steaks and burgers. The service is friendly with out being in your dinner. We've gone back a few times. Close to Kings Cross and St Pancus
B.
Delicious food. A touch more expensive for what it was, and a fairly crowded restaurant meant it was a bit noisy for spending time with friends. Food makes it, however - the steak I had was excellent!
R. R.
Express menu is awesome food delivered in 10mins, really great lunching place with a varied menu, well recommended. They even knocked the drinks off our bill.
J. G.
Fantastic service and great value for money steak was brilliant cooked to perfection! can not recommended enough,
I. P.
The bar part does not sell crisps or nuts and the beer options are limited. Restaurant side was OK. Service was variable. Food was pretty good and about right on the value for money scale.
J. J.
Lovely food, great service, well priced...and a great atmosphere...you will not be disappointed.. fantastic range of meal choices for you...go and enjoy..
I. C.
Lovely steak but last time I went the portions where a bit small I could have eaten 2 plates 😂 other than that excellent service and great food
G. S.
Lovely steaks and really friendly staff
J. L.
Service here is decent, food is actually very tast as are the drinks! Nice spot for a drink and food especially if you dont wish to leave the hotel.
E. M.
It was excellent...good price for central London, especially the beer prices. Goof and service very good!!!! They give you water and popcorn when you arrive...the popcorn is absolutely wonderful!!!!
M. W.
Lovely pub and lovely staff they are so friendly food great
B. S.
This is a fun spacious bar with a restaurant at the back, I have never tried the food but the bar had a good atmosphere and professional staff. It can get busy on Friday nights!
e. t.
I went there with my husband daughter and grand son for my birthday...the food was nice the place is clean, service good, good menu there's a lot of choice on main menu and they also have an express menu which is cheaper.
A. W.
Christmas meal with work colleagues. Atmosphere was buzzing, staff were very friendly and food was excellent.
OMG - The mince pie cheesecake was sublime and totally unexpected.
C. M.
Not bad but not great. Brunch is not bottomless like other places...they take the glasses from you once you finished it and get new ones...it takes quite awhile for this to happen. Food was good but it wasn't a terribly lively place.
J. G.
The steak was the best I've ever tasted and the staff were at the correct level of attention, not constantly hovering but immediately there if needed
C. D.
Really great place for catching up with friends. The atmosphere was relaxed and staff were lovely. Really nice to go somewhere where you don't feel like you're being hurried.
A. S.
Stopped in after meeting for light lunch. Really clean and spacious pub with good food and good prices for somewhere next to Kings Cross. Hard to fault.
E. B.
Didn't eat here but drink prices were great for central London and the staff were friendly. Paid £5.45 for a double Bathtub gin and lemonade.
P. M.
Good steaks here cooked here you want it. Been here before where they did a Tomahawk steak which they did not do this time round. Maybe due to menu change so will come back and check it out.
U. K.
Food very tasty, affordable prices. Delay in service as only 1 person to serve around 24 people when we were there.
R. H.
Wasn't sure what to think of this place as it is attached to a Premier Inn, but I thought it was great in both value and quality. I had ribeye steak with halloumi fries and a fab churros sundae.
B. D.
Delicious food, definitely recommend the mushroom halloumi burger 👌
M. C.
Part of the premier inn hotel really nice atmosphere, next time i should try the steak only we ate earlier so didn't try it out...bar was lovely though.
C. Q.
Great place walking distance from Kings Cross Station.
Good food, quick service, reasonably priced, warm ambience of the place.
I would recommend this place for dates or any group gathering for mates.
S. M.
Everything was above expectations and the service was excellent. A few interesting twists on the normal fare. Steak was so flavourful. 🤗
L. W.
Really nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The food isn't anything special, some of it was quite greasy. Left with an upset stomach.
T. S. G.
The steak is nice and juicy. Ambience is nice too.
B. P.
Delicious food and fantastic customer service
G. R.
Came late on a Friday. Food was pretty tasty but they were setting up for breakfast so felt a little hotely. Nice friendly staff.
N. W.
Amazing place with amazing steak and you can request any size cut to order!! Absolutely banging 🔥
L. L.
Lovely food for meat eaters and non-meat eaters. There are veggie and vegan diners among us and we can all enjoy dining here!
C. A.
Lovely place to have dinner. The french fries and chicken wings were delicious! Also easy to reach with public transport. And friendly and helpful staff!
C. B.
I go here to meet friends and chat. Good prices on the cocktails, decent beer (not amazing, but well kept). This place looks super pricey and exclusive, but it isn't.
M. B.
Have always loved this place, food is excellent every time.
And they even support the blue light card scheme 10/10
P. E.
With a better béarnaise it would be nearly a four. A bit to sour for me. The meat was a tend to dry even when it was medium rare. But overall a good place
