Reviews of Barge East Restaurant

We had the Saturday 3 step dinner. The starter was a scallop which I did not find great. The portion was quite small and it needed more seasoning. The mandarin was very mild so the citrus flavour was missing. The main was venison which had great flavour but again it was in the small side. The best dish of the meal was the sticky toffee pudding with milk ice cream. It was very good but the ice cream was a bit icy and not as creamy as it should have been.

A local gem! I hosted my 30th birthday in the canopy at Barge East and it was perfect.
The venue, decor and setting was amazing, the food was delicious and so reasonably priced and the service was outstanding. Despite being a large group of 27 people, the whole evening was faultless and I cannot thank the staff enough for such an amazing evening.
Fraiser was an absolute pleasure to meet, his service was excellent and he really went the extra mile all evening. Ian was also wonderful, he was so responsive in the lead up to the meal, which really helped to make the evening run so smoothly. I'm sad I didn't get the names of everyone that served us but they were all wonderful and really helped to make the evening special - thank you.
I'd really recommend this venue to everyone and we will definitely be paying another visit soon!

My favorite restaurant in London with the beautiful river view and juicy lamb. I enjoy the best service and spend the wonderful time with my friends here. Lovely restaurant, very recommend.

Came here for my partner’s birthday, dinner was delicious and the atmosphere is just really special:) maybe a bit pricey and hot down there but I would definitely go again for my own birthday!

Wonderful staff, really authentic environment, quick and professional service.
The food is exactly what you pay for, exceptional quality and amazing flavour.
Fully recommended for a premium experience

The restaurant is a gem. The food is very good and service friendly overall. I loved the pork dish; I was expecting that to be dry but it wasn't. It was beautifully-cooked and paired well with the sauce. The fish I ordered, on the other hand, was dry and overcooked. The oyster mushrooms were bland so a pointless addition to the plate. The chanterelles did work well with the dish. The alcoholic drink my partner ordered tasted like a non-alcoholic, herbal drink. Similarly, my espresso martini didn't live up to expectations. I would go back for a vegan or meat dish and non-alcoholic drinks as I feel that the restaurant would excel there.

A great spot: rain, hail or shine. A fantastic spot to hang out with friends- highly recommend the chips 🥳

Amazing setting for our work party on a sunny February afternoon. The food was simply delicious, every mouthful had a surprise to it. Staff were attentive and genuine. We had a lovely time. Thanks : )

Ate here for a friends birthday in the captains cabin. The food was delicious and the staff were super. Just need to watch for the low ceilings.. there is no give in a metal boat. I managed to crack my head which resulted in a fair amount of blood the staff were awesome and made sure I was OK. Which I was twas but a flesh wound.

We ate on the bank in one of the little huts. The heaters weren't working but the staff were really lovely offering blankets and hot water bottles (obviously get one!). The food was delicious, most of us had the buttermilk fried chicken. My Bloody Mary was top notch.
After brunch we moved up on deck of the boat and a functioning heater. Again everyone was very friendly and helpful.
I would 100% recommend Barge East and we'll be back to enjoy the main menu on board.

My friends and I had a Saturday set lunch at Barge East. The food was great and we had a room on the boat to ourselves, which was ideal. Our main waitress had a good sense of humour, as did the other staff that we interacted with. The only thing to be aware of is that the portion sizes are not huge and for our set menu there was no carb with the lunch. Thanks very much!

A great little Dutch barge with an amazing butter milk chicken burger on the menu. Outdoor seating with a parasol so bring a jumper or jacket depending on weather. Food is highly recommended and the view is worth a journey. Great for drinks with mates!

If making a reservation on internet, just a warning they ask for £50 deposit. Not a problem for us.
Relaxed ambiance, attentive service, excellent food and fantastic presentation, good selection of food and beverages.
A real treat to be able to see the chef from our table preparing our dishes.
Will deffo come back and deffo recommend.

It was lovely to get out and about and great to see they were able to cater for a big group (split between tables) but next ti each other. I was delighted with the food though the gnt in a van wasn’t so great. Didn’t taste much. Would come back.
R. J.
Fantastic Sunday lunch. Food was great from a menu several notches more interesting than normal, great atmosphere and super friendly staff. Have already recommended to friends
M. X.
We went for a Christmas dinner for our department. To be fair, the food tastes amazing. But the portion for the main is the smallest one I have ever had in my life. (Three tiny pieces of duck breast) I wouldn't recommend to pay 39 pounds for a three-course taster menu.
L. W.
This place produces the most amazing cuisine! The staff is very friendly and the boat itself is very cute. It was not disappointing to come here for lunch - it was as unbelievable as the comments. Recommend to all your friends and you will be back soon!
E. N.
From the service, to the environment, to the food - this was really special. The boat is unique, quirky and cosy. We had the four course menu for £35 and this felt like excellent value. The produce was really fresh and the dishes were inventive. We will definitely be visiting Barge East again and would recommend that others do too!
H. G.
We rented the Upper deck space for a birthday party. The food was great and service was fantastic. Such a good location with views of the river and we didn't feel the cold with heaters and blankets. Thanks for a great evening
T. B.
Got a lot of time for these guys they have done so well in creating something special. The green house booths are great as is the service and food
A. G.
Best meal out in a very long time. Marvelous setting & atmosphere, superb service from the entire staff and fantastic and interesting food. Worth a trip.
K. B.
The food was really delicious and the staff even printed out a special menu for me where everything was adapted to my allergies. All staff brought a great vibe. Magical place will definitely be back.
S. C.
Nice atmosphere and heaters at each outside table. Everything is ordered through the app which worked fine. Drinks were quick but 1 of us out of the 4 waited 35min for her food, hence minus 1 star. The food itself was yummy, i had a chicken burger with the chickpea chips.
J. G.
Whole experience is something special. The food is excellent and £35 for four courses is great value (the pork main is a highlight). Everything is well thought out, service is excellent, being on a boat is novel, the whole and the whole area teams with life. Deserves all the hype, we’re already thinking about going back for the Sunday roast!
B. H.
What a great bunch of people. So accommodating and the food was really really great- that’s coming from those of our group who know how to do food. We hired the canopy upstairs area on the barge for my wife’s 40th. Perfect intimate space and we were allowed to spill outside onto the table, which with twenty three guests was such a bonus. There’s a lot of freedom to dress the table the way you want it. The area is vibrant and the atmosphere was everything could have hoped for. Prebooking the food meant everything ran smoothly on the night and the staff were really patient with me messing up a couple of orders- their attention to detail really appreciated. I would highly recommend this venue for groups 20 to 25.
Thank you Barge East
P. S.
Great food and even better service. Their pulled beef sandwich, chickpea fries, and n’duja scotch egg are all outstanding. The scotch egg I had during one of my recent visits is the best I’ve ever had. We’ve been there a few times, and after having a little issue during one of our visits, the team went above and beyond to make up for it. It’s the kind of amazing service that turns locals into regulars.
E. H.
Lovely food and atmosphere! Went for a friends birthday and they gave her a cocktail and a little cake and looked after us really well - great service! Such a nice spot up on the deck, highly recommend
D. A.
Simply amazing! Had the best beef brisket burger ever with surprisingly delicious chickpea fries topped with cashew cheese. It is a must try!
J.
Fraser was the perfect host, made us feel welcome straight away and set the standard for the evening. Special setting to have dinner with friends and the food was fantastic too! Highly recommend a visit!
J. O.
Had recent family reunion on the barge .
Excellent experience . Food was exceptional .
Service was friendly and attentive without being irritating .
Setting is very novel . Well done to all staff working in the confined space .
Well done particularly to the chefs delivering superb food in what is essentially a galley kitchen .
Definitely recommend this experience .
M. D.
A great location. Good food and great beer. Very friendly staff.
Worth a visit any time of year rain or shine

What a surprise! I visited the Barge East with some work colleagues and had a great experience. The food was great especially the pork belly main :) staff were great and super attentive. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to others. Not what it seems from the outside either!
S. W.
We had a delicious meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive ( and also very helpful with some booking changes pre visit) and the surroundings lovely. First visit but will come back
C. S.
Gorgeous food! Sadly we were downstairs, virtually on our own, staring at the toilet queue whilst all the atmosphere was upstairs - that's definitely where it was happenin! Perhaps in the winter months the atmosphere downstairs improves but if you visit in the summer, book to sit on the deck upstairs!
E. H.
Fantastic meal. Perfectly cooked cod. Great service, would warmly recommend
Y. C. L. (.
We had a nice afternoon here! Staffs were so nice, we didn't book a reservation in advance but still got a table for awhile. The atmosphere was really great!
C. L.
AMAZING EVERYTHING!
Barge East were so accommodating to our large group of ten. Our waiter Dan couldn't of done enough for us and was also so much fun! The food was incredible and we were very lucky to be sat at the back of the barge in the sunshine. Cannot wait to return!
J. G.
Love this place! Introduced brother and sister-in-law this weekend and they loved it too! Thank you for talking us into having dessert - even though we were sure we were stuffed we would have missed out on the amazing celery leaf parfait!! The honey diplomat was awesome too but we were all dubious about the parfait but it was delish!!
B. G.
We try to dine at Barge East every couple of months and every single time is an amazing experience. The staff is the friendliest in all of London, the set menus have loads of diversity and are always a feast. Simply one of the best in East London.
C. L.
Service was excellent really nice and polite, is great the the is service charge because they truly deserve it. Food was amazing really good chefs we had a brunch, the chickpeas fries were my top 1. You have to try them. We will be coming back for sure. But remember if you go for lunch or dinner on weekends book in advance.
K. W.
Beautiful meal in a unique setting in East London!
When living in London you can eat a lot of good food but this was something special!
Every dish and sides where 10/10!!
Great service too, would highly recommend!
G. F. M.
Wonderfully atmospheric as soon as you approach especially in the evening with the festoon lights twinkling.
Inside has a warm, conspiratorial vibe.
Service was excellent, food innovative and delicious. We came
For the set Sunday menu ,
Jerusalem artichoke tart, venison pitivier ,
And prochetta with amazing cauliflower purée & Roast potatoes were among our favorites.
C. L.
Delicious food, fabulous drinks and super friendly staff who made us feel so welcome whilst on board. They went above and beyond in making my friend feel special on her 30th birthday and we can’t wait to come back soon!
L. P.
This is a small and well run restaurant, also prices are very reasonable. The quality of the food is amazing especially as the kitchen is very small. The staff are very kind and provide just the right amount of care and service which isn't annoying. It's warm and cosy as they use a wood fire in the winter. Last point, try to book before attending as it's very popular.
C. S.
Food was delicious, we were sat by the pass and could see the care and attention taken by the chef, that translated to beautiful tasty dishes. Freya looked after us all night, and the venue itself is something special. We had a fabulous night, I would highly recommend.
J. C.
Celebrated my birthday recently and have to say a HUGE thank you to the team, we had an absolute blast. The service was incredible (huge, huge, huge thank you to Alice) they all went above and beyond to make the afternoon stellar. Food and booze was spot on. 10 stars.
P. Z.
We were on the 5th of July, just after the lift of quarantine restrictions. We had a nice experience, came for the Sunday roast, we had the duck (today special) and the lamb. The staff was really friendly and we have appreciated being on the upper deck, it was very very windy, nice to be inside but still with a pleasant view of the canal. The starter, chicken liver paté was delicious, the potatoes could have been less dry but still good, the desserts very good as well as the drinks. Maybe slightly expensive, but i guess you also pay the unusual location.
A. W.
Wrap up warm if you're on deck, be ready for a treat!
Delicious and surprising three course meal with an excellent drinks menu. Craig David, long deserving a cocktail named after him, has a truely classic serve.
The staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
Will return. Hope all the team battern down the hatches for lockdown 2. See you the other side!
T. K. W.
Atmosphere, staff, food (chickpea fries), beer .. All amazing.
M. M.
Cannot fault this place at all. Had a bottomless brunch in the upper tier of the boat. Had the room to ourselves in a lovely setting. Food was excellent and I quite possibly have not had better service anywhere before. The staff are incredible. Could not recommend more.
J. W.
We had a fabulous evening birthday party at this unique venue. Brilliant atmosphere, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the food and drinks were excellent. Thanks!
V. G.
We celebrated our birthdays there last night and not only was the food and the place great but the staff was super friendly and very nice. A place I am definitely going back to and which I will keep as “favourite” in London.
D. G.
The barge is very pretty and fulll of atmosphere. service is friendly and eager. The menu is small - but imaginitive, really well executed, full of flavour. It is great fun being there so everything is tip-top.
M. M.
Great decor and love the rugged nautical theme throughout. Food and beers top notch and great vibes from all the staff. Be sure to check out the recently-renovated captain's quarters for small groups. Nice and cosy for the winter weather on the horizon.
E. L. G.
Three childhood friends bought a 114 year old Dutch Barge transforming it into a beautiful restaurant and bar in Hackney Wick.
Below deck has a homely and warm atmosphere and the terrace is great for drinks. Barge East also looks so pretty at night with fairy lights reflecting on the river.
We stopped by for an Aperol Spritz and Rhubarb gin and tonic (£9 each) and sat outside on a calm bright evening. It is great that they use local suppliers including East London Gin and local craft beer.
Barge East offers a British fusion menu which Head Chef Ryan Craig developed from his extensive time cooking aboard some of the world’s most luxurious private yachts. We can’t wait to return to sample the menu!
Barge East is a great bar in Hackney Wick for drinks and dining. Take a walk down the canal and pop in!
D. C.
One of the local places that saved me during Covid. Summer vibes on the canal. A great new outdoor spot, takeaways (lockdown) and lovely snacks.
Whenever I’m not walking past, I really want to just pull up a chair and take it all in. That sounds very corny but it’s a lovely spot.
Recommended for friends, couples and your dog. 😂
C. B.
We had the best time on the barge. Frazer and the team looked after us perfectly, the setting was cosy and festive and the food was delicious.
E. D.
This place is one of our top5 to relax and scape from the london rush enviroment.
Book in advance to prevent waiting time, most of the time they are busy..
Congrats to the chefs!
Food: 10/10
I wish it could be more restaurants like this in hackney wick canal.
K. L.
Lovely place, staff are really friendly. Set menu was great, lots of drinking options.
K. B.
The staff were attentive and friendly and the new menu is amazing especially the lost bread!! Unique location unlike anything in London which made a really special evening. Thank you!!
Y. B.
Great place to chill with some good food and drinks. Love the terrace and garden areas. Their panisses (chick peas friends) were the best I’ve had so far! Friendly staff as well. Definitely coming back again
R. C.
One of the best places to eat between East Village, Stratford and Hackney Wick. The food is simply amazing. Strongly advise a visit. There's limited space so make sure to book.
R. D.
chorizo scotch egg was perfect - runny in the middle with tasty aioli and pea cress, followed by melt in the mouth short rib on the smoothest parsnip puree with the most amazing sauce and spicy accompaniment. All washed down with a very reasonable Malbec
Service was wonderful and we were made to feel very welcome - we'll definitely visiting London again.
S. M.
We have chosen the perfect day to visit Barge East for the first time: sunny and dry! What started well got better and better after each delicious course. The ambience is fantastic, the food is to die for and beautifully presented, and the staff is really lovely. It was a memorable experience, best Sunday Roast in a long time! Well done guys!
H. H.
Great place to eat especially in nice weather. Great Atmosphere, right by the canal, lots of drinks options, food options are a little limited but what they have is great. Try the flat breads and the chicken burger
P. H.
Supper on Saturday night. Interesting menu. Everything I ordered was delicious. Would recommend but book downstairs (inside) now it's getting cooler.
S. R.
Only went for drinks so can't comment on food. Staff was professional and attentive. Great setting alongside river. Recommended for a sunny day/eve. You don't have to be a hipster (im far too old) but there's penty of that crowd there, spilling over from nearby Hackney Wick

Barge East rocks!
This lovely indoor-outdoor space is East London Food&Drink’s flagship. Whether you choose to sit in the magical garden or floating restaurant, your time there will be great.
Not sure what to pick from the extensive menu? We’ll, I get it, one is spoilt for choice! From delicious and impressive burgers to succulent Sunday Roast and bottomless brunches, you won’t be disappointed. And, of course, the finest selection of wines, bubbles, cocktails and beers.
Located on the canal, close to the Queen Elizabeth Park and the finest East London breweries, Barge East is the perfect spot for either a proper lunch/dinner, a quick but rich brunch, or a fresh local pint. Then a relaxing walk in the lively area is the cherry on top!
E. S.
Our favourite place! Both casual dining and more fine dining restaurant are both amazing, great value also. Big love to Barge East xx
C. B.
We had a fantastic evening. All the staff were so helpful and polite and went above and beyond. They really took care of us and made us feel safe and very welcome. We were in the garden area surrounded by beautiful herbs and vegetables. Everyone was so efficient and helpful.
A special thanks to "Gary" and the lovely blonde lady who assisted us with our booking and to our 2 waitresses! 5 stars!!

Saw it from across the river when I was at a birthday party on Friday. Quickly popped in and was so impressed that I went back with friends on Saturday! Really good vibe and selection of beers. Can’t beat that on a sunny day. Amazing staff as well.
M. L.
This place is full of life, people sitting everywhere, there are a lot of place for take away food and drinks. Amazing
V. M.
Great atmosphere and service. Heaters were great too! Lamb shoulder flat bread with the yum yum sauce was AMAZING! Philly cheesecake burger was great too. Cocktails aren't cheap but they taste great! I would recommend this place as a great local place to come back to often.
I. C.
Bandito Burgers great for a breakfast roll on the way to the London Stadium #COYI⚒

Amazing food, great atmosphere, staff were really friendly. Definitely recommend

I was there the 2de day they open. On the day they yearly anniversary. This place is a gem and the 3 owners (friends) i wish you more success. As this place is so warm and welcoming. Please keep it as it is.
N. B.
Had a 3 course meal with the Roast Chicken and Roast Beef. Delicious! Just the right balance of Industrial boat and cosy restaurant. Great atmosphere with attentive service. Will go there again for a treat!
L. B.
Absolutely loved this place!! I can't stop telling people what a good time we had. The bottomless Brunch was awesome...food was amazing, service was great! We were so impressed with everything!
We will definitely return...thank you for an amazing afternoon!
S. T.
Great spot by the canal. We managed to still eat outside despite some pretty heavy rain thanks to tables set up with greenhouse shelters!
The menu is a little limited unless you're a fan of burgers, but the quality of food is great.
Their ordering system is via a QR code/mobile site which works pretty well. However I'd put a note on my order to remove an ingredient which was followed, but the server did not point out which plate was modified when bringing over to the table, so a friend ended up with my meal until we realised and had to swap...
D. G.
Really lovely place to sit, have a drink and watch the world go buy. Particularly like the tables amongst the vegetable garden. The food is excellent too! Can't recommend this place enough.
G. C. K.
Went here for a drink and couldn't leave. We sat up on the terrace with a large table for 6 of us. The app for table service was so easy to use . Staff were really helpful with our food orders and each dish seemed like it had a unique Barge East twist to it. It's not our local area but I will definitely be back.
As a side note there are also a few market stalls by the barge which sell amazing cheeses and sourdough breads.
E. E.
The staff are the gem of this restaurant. They read our group perfectly - we had booked a table for dinner and the barge was full of football supporters having a drink after a match. We were taken to the private captain’s cabin where we could speak easily and even put on our own (questionable) music. We did not get forgotten in there, in fact the service was wonderful and the two people that served us were really friendly. The house red wine was good, and the food is EXCELLENT. The panisses are a must-try and the chocolate tart is simply amazing. I went on the recommendation of friends and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others!
L. M.
Amazing food, really cool and quirky east London location. Would highly recommend the lamb!
S. R.
Food was awesome as were cocktails. Setting lovely too, all round a great experience.
C. M.
Great atmosphere, busy but not crowded with a lovely warm stove. And was offered a choice of milk to go with my decaf coffee. Ie Almond, Oat or diary. Felt well looked after. 🤩☕🍺

I've been a secret fan of these guys since they opened; watching them slowly expands their operation, and pivot their business in troublesome Covid times, has been an education, in how businesses should be run. The boat is impressive, and the garden they've designed and built to supply their kitchen is amazing. We had a lovely table on top of the boat, watching fluffy young water birds swim next to their parents whilst the summer sun slowly set behind us. I'm always impressed when good restaurants aren't pretentious; the staff here are fun and down-to-earth, whilst also knowledgeable about their food and drink. The food was excellent; depending on your palate, you can go subtle, vegan, or - in my case - full on; a nice lamb terrine for starters, delicious and well-prepared pork loins for mains; dessert smashed it too, but my most memorable moment of the meal was the appetiser; a 'cigar' made with tomato leather, which was so succulent, sweet and meaty that my Italian wife mistook it for salami! Great job all round and will definitely keep bringing these guys my custom
M. L.
This place serves the most amazing food, can't recommend it highly enough. The staff is so friendly and service minded, and the music they play is absolutely top-notch, Steely Dan, Doobies, Carole King, you name it.
C. B. L.
Great food, location and atmosphere. Butterfly chicken burger and painsee fries are perfectly cooked. Staff are very welcoming.
C. H.
Awesome food. A bit more than pub prices but well worth it.
G. C.
Such a lovely meal, great service and really friendly staff. Thanks for a great lunch!
J. K.
Hired out the captains cabin for birthday brunch and it went down a treat. Our server was warm, the food and drinks were all delicious and the ambience was perfect. Our top reccomendations: the sausage roll, the burrata with sourdough toast and the delightful caramel tart. To drink the Bow Bells Pale Ale.
If you're wanting to hire the cabin, I'd reccomend booking well in advance. However the main dining area is wonderful and cosy with a new wood burning fireplace. Perfect for the recent nippy weather.
We will be back soon with our friends.
F. A.
Great little spot by the canal. Wonderful friendly staff. Good food. Aperol spritz was great. Have had better mojitos, but all in all had a great evening there and would go back again.
C. R.
The Negatives:
-We sat outside on the terrace and to start out they were not taking orders because the kitchen was too full and we had to wait to order burgers ( there were flatbreads available that looked nice but we did not really fancy them so we waited.
- The Burgers (with fries) on the menu were on the pricier side ( £15) and looked the part with pretty paper and they looked juicy but they both( the chicken and the steak burgers) tasted pretty awful, reminicisent of bar food or something you would expect at a sports bar. I have had wetherspoons burgers better than what I received.
-The burgers came with 4 chunky fries but they were overseasoned and just not what we wanted when we were expecting a burger and fries.
-The toilets we were directed to were so disgusting my friends ended up peeing in a nearby bush.
-No smoking area so we were banished to smoke on a field by a security guard
The positives
- The beer was pretty amazing
- Nice Atmosphere
-Canalside view is pretty nice
Would I visit again? For drinks - most definitely!
H. H.
What a wonderful surprise! Walking along the canal, the cocktail menu caught my eye. We ducked into the. Wonderful wooden, low lit barge and enjoyed the excellent service, cozy vibe and excellent cocktails. Looking forward to returning for food.

Such an awesome place to have a more intimate wedding. I photographed a wedding there recently and loved it!
J. B. (.
Had an absolutely fabulous time here last night. The food was incredible and the staff, particularly the great guy who served us, were so friendly. Highly recommended this gem in East London!

Amazing food and nice location. Best food we ate during our London visit.
V.
Went to the restaurant for set dinner (£35 per person). Great service and environment especially if its sunny (which it was).
Starter of burrata and main course of pork loin were great. Pork loin was tender and juicy. The dessert however (chocolate mousse) was nice but the portion size was EXTREMELY small. Could have eaten in 1 large bite. Don't understand the stinginess here. If portions were bigger it would have been perfect. Also my friend had aubergine starter which was small, and was still hungry afterwards so had to get a burger somewhere else.
Also haven't tried the street food which seems more generous and reasonably priced - might come back for this. Overall still a great experience though and would recommend.
S. K.
Tasty food and every single member of staff was super attentive and chatty making the whole experience worth coming back for.
N. H.
Just had a lovley meal in the shaded, sunshine. Sitting in the barge you can choose from a set menu, well worth it. Lovley staff who seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs. Above all the food was delicious, creative and well worth a revisit. We will be back
M. L.
Staff were genuinely welcoming and warm. We were there for a weekday lunch with our dog. Staff was respecting hygiene and social distancing as required currently. Service was quick. The Burger was, of course, fantastico!
J. F.
So often places don’t meet expectation but this exceed it. The service was prompt and friendly, the food was divine and the chef is to be commended. Would recommended for a date night or a dinner with friends. I will definitely be back!!
C. M.
Amazingly good food for s decent price was really blown away by the set menu!
K. B.
Had the most delicious meal. Tantalised my tastebuds and the ambience was amazing. We had Alice and Dan serving us and they really made our lunch special. Thank you for a lovely lunch
P. P.
My whole experience was fantastic - great location but most importantly , the staff were absolutely lovely and super attentive which makes all the difference. I was really impressed! (and the chicken burger was really good too)

Lovely place, great location and friendly staff. Food was good, we had panisse for the first time and it was great. Will look for that again.
Great place to chill, speak in the atmosphere and of course drink and eat.
C. K.
Great place to meet in a airy space observing the eased lockdown measures. Had a good selection of places for drinks at sundown.

Super nice chill up with couple or friends restaurant, love it.
H. H.
Really great vibe, all the staff were super kind and welcoming. Foods okay - what you’d expect for quick easy food! Loved the frozen margaritas and strawberry daiquiris!
F. R.
It's sunny, your on the river, pints are great and food is some of the best in East London. What's not to love?
O. A.
Sweet spot next to the canal. Food was awesome, especially the scotch eggs. Even the toilet or ... Engine Room ... Was pretty spesh. Definitely sit outside of you can and catch some sun.
S. L.
Nice location and friendly staff. Had the street food menu on the EOTHO offer. Buttermilk fried chicken burger was nice and filling. Chickpea fries was good but not my fave. Needed a bit of salt and pepper. Prices quite high if wasn't for the offer.
E. A.
Came here for the first time and was looked after by Alice. She made you feel welcome and ensured you had everything you needed. Service was great and ensured you were well looked after.
K. S.
Excellent food, staff incredibly friendly and accommodating, great atmosphere - even on a rainy August evening! Would highly recommend.
T. S.
Brilliant food, lovely and friendly service.
I.
I visited under Tier2 resrtrictions, and got a table on the terrace. The burgers from the truck were very very good, atmosphere great, heating delightful, and distancing between tables was good (because it wasn't full). Also got a delivery roast dinner for 1 during lockdown and it didn't disappoint!
A. B.
Cozy setting inside and phenomenal food. The burnt honey desert was amazing.
D. E.
Beautiful little place in an amazing location, awesome food and drinks, staff are lovely.
Highly recommended!
N. B.
Fantastic and original food at a super reasonable price. This is very clearly Barge East's focus. They have not let themselves be distracted by the fact that it is served up on a boat. Warm and cosy though we were below deck on a well-distanced table, all the creativity, love and attention went into what was on our plates. Fabulous skate, onglet, amazing panisses and incredible deserts. A really special place. Not just a great addition to Hackney Wick, but London. We had a great time. Believe all the superlatives.
E. P.
Service and food are excellent! highly recommended if you want to go for REAL FOOD !
V. M.
The new digital menu isn’t the easiest to order from, but the views and ambiance are totally worth it!
E. W.
Brilliant location for outdoor eating - most of the tables have big umbrellas you can shelter under if there is a shower! We ate on the terrace, from the street food menu - high quality burgers, basically. Food, atmosphere and waterside location were perfect, and the barge itself is magnificent.
T. K.
We all had an absolutely joyous time on the barge for a birthday party lunch with bottomless Prosecco. The venue, staff, food and drinks were all absolutely exceptional. I would have no concern recommending barge east to friends, colleagues and family for a truly fantastic experience.
J.
Great experience! Dutch barge brought over and converted into restaurant. Lovely food, and being gluten free consideration was made for us especially. The staff was knowledgeable and caring. We thought it was a relaxed atmosphere and had a lovely evening.
s. w.
Loved the Sunday roast, Super snug setting on a boat, Staff are super friendly, very attentive wonderful people. We were super lucky to visit just before lockdown. This is a must visit restaurant. I cant wait to come back. Thanks barge east for a lovely experience :)
M. A.
Great space. Can get busy. Order was incorrect, but was quickly rectified. Food was really good, so definitely would recommend.
R. B.
Great for a quick beer before a game, prices are okay as well
M. V.
An unique venue! It is a really good option to get some beers and feel like your are outside the city. The hummus was delicious and the service really nice! I would definitely come back to try some of the burgers!
M. S.
Great little hidden gem. We stumbled across this on a walk. Stopped for a drink. Great vibe and easy to order.
D. M.
Nice vibe on the canal, as usual. Great way to spend a sunny day! There are lots of parks and, green spaces nearby for a stroll too.
S. P.
We bought a voucher to support this wonderful restaurant at the start of the first Lockdown as we had such a great time on our first visit and this return visit was even better. The excitement builds before you even step on board as the boat is lit up beautifully on the river where you're greeted warmly ahead of being taken through the thorough, but non-invasive, safety procedures.
We were then taken to our table that was very well spaced on one side and with a completely discreet and low-key perspective divide on the other. The menu was enthusiastically explained with clear knowledge from our waiter who demonstrated real passion on what we were about to enjoy eating.
My girlfriend had the rich and creamy burrata for starters whereas I had the delightfully fresh cured mackerel and vibrant tomato salad. We followed this up with what I was reliably informed was a cooked to perfection onglet with roasted carrots, gnocchi and black garlic with myself having the most perfectly roasted skate wing in capers and brown butter that just fell apart as I ate it. The panisses were an excellent accompaniment to both dishes.
I went for the cheese board and my girlfriend went for the rich frozen chocolate parfait that was all seen off with a "Craig David" house cocktail and a very brilliant Espresso Martini respectively.
Our visit to Barge East was easily one of our highlights of an often difficult year and illustrated how vitally important it is to keep establishments like this quite literally afloat. It makes us sad that we'll have to wait at least another month before we go back now, but the moment that we can we will be back immediately.
Finally, one of the best things about Barge East (other than the food, the service and the drinks) is that the setting of a boat is never used as a gimmick and unlike other boat-based restaurants, the cosy nature and low lighting quickly removes the idea of being anywhere other than just that - a super cosy and vibey restaurant.
God bless Barge East and all who eat on her!
C.
Amazing place. Delicious food and great service in a beautiful surroundings.
H. O.
Great food and friendly, helpful staff. Good range of drinks in a wonderful setting on the canal. Backdrop is Olympic Stadium one side and the city skyline the other. Cozy inside in the winter and the best spot on deck in the summer if you can wrangle yourself a table. Can't recommend enough.
W. B.
We were in the outside area just had drinks. Good location but service could be better. Still recommend though.
D. R.
Didn't eat there, but the staff let me use the toilets which was real cool of him.
Cheers dude!
M. S.
I went a couple of weekends ago to relax on the grass area next to the river. I ordered from their street food kitchen using the website - got a missed call when the food was ready to collect. It was a busy lockdown day and took less then the estimated time on the website.
Chicken burger with panisses was delicious. Iced coffee was also good. Will definitely be returning.
S.
A little bit of confusion at the start as to wheree we were seated due to people being at our table already but once all sorted we had a lovely time with excellent service and friendly staff, from the waiters to the bouncer by the loo's.
We were able to stay at our table a bit longer than our boking and when the next people areoved they let us stand down the other end to finish our drinks.
Great night out drinking amongst the veges growing!
K. D.
Great Sunday roast in the Captain's cabin. Staff were really accommodating and food was excellent. Definitely would come back!
J. D. W.
Great place we had a large group there. Strawberry daiquiris were a particular hit.
A. M. G.
The setting is amazing, really romantic and cosy. The food is really good and service was outstanding. The kitchen doesn’t look particularly clean but its not meant to be a michelin star. The pumpkin with buckwheat and pickled walnut dish could be improved but everything else was a five star!
J. D.
The best staff. Efficient and friendly service. No request is too much. Excellent food and drink. A fantastic space, highly recommend.
M. N.
Nice view and highly recommend the Scottish Egg 🏴
A. M.
Me and lady went on the hottest day of the year had a nice lunch and few drinks. Unfortunately my lady fainted and took a bad fall. But the staffs quick response was amazing and helped to make the situation more comfortable. She was offered a cold drink, space and taxi. There was a doctor onsite so he took care of any potential injuries. Again thank you Ian for emaling me to see if my lady was OK and extended thanks to the team. This place couldn't be highly more recommended.
p. s.
Had an impromptu meal here when stumbled across this restaurant boat. ( I was cycling along the tow path) It was a very enjoyable experience. Staff were helpful and friendly. Menu was interesting with a good variation of dishes and the meal was well prepared and tasty. I would recommend the restaurant to anyone.
G. C.
This place is a real diamond - fabulous staff on an old barge - its quirky (in the best use of the word) and has fab food - I had belly of pork - but my vegan friend found plenty to choose from. This is definitely worth booking. We booked for upstairs to be able to see the views - but rain meant we moved down below - which was definitely worth it - it's a magical place!
J. H.
Best bottomless brunch I’ve ever had I think. We were in the cosiest of rooms with a speaker. The flat iron breakfast was delicious, especially the tiny tater tots. Customer service was 10/10 we never felt neglected even though we were on the end of the barge. Will definitely be returning
A. K.
I was trying to think if there is a reason to only give this restaurant four stars but I can't. It's a lovely atmosphere and great service. The food is freshly cooked by the chef even down to the desserts. The atmosphere is busy but you still have enough intimacy for a conversation. The food quality is up there with some of the best restaurants. The service is polite. The price is very reasonable. I advise booking ahead.
M. S.
Lovely meet up spot for a drink or coffee. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The only minus would be you have to order through app and the food choices are limited. It woud be lovely to be able to have the sunday roast available in the outside gardens.
K. D.
What a fun experience! The food is memorable, thanks to Chef Stefano and team. The service is top notch but friendly and laid back. And the atmosphere and view are wonderful. Highly recommended.
M. H.
Came for an afternoon drink. Staff were very welcoming, nice atmosphere, good COVID-19 system in place (order via an app, table service, alcohol...). Will come back to try the food which sounds delicious.
S. S.
Underhyped, underrated picturesque and rustic. Every dish is ingeniously and meticulously put together down to the last detail. Quality food with a great drink selection. Lovely atmosphere and dedicated staff. Loved the fact that they are committed to minimal wastage from utilising every last bit of produce to using dried flowers for decor. A must visit. Do book ahead.
D. B.
Had drinks and food in the gardens, staff are all brilliant, lovely service. Food was top notch, it's not inexpensive but is high quality.
T. G.
A very nice surprise. Food was interesting and delicious. Managed to cater for vegans, a vegetarian and two omnivores. Service was friendly and a comfortable interesting environment. Easy walk across Olympic Park from our hotel.
D. K.
Amazing food and service. Waiting staff and the chef team are super friendly and proffesional. Location and the whole boat experience is fantastic. One particular surprise was the coffee, probably one of the best coffees in the whole UK.
H. H.
Been here a few times now and it just never disappoints. Incredible food, great beer selection and brilliant cocktails. Such an excellent idea converting an old barge. Really enjoyed booking out the Captain's Cabin as well for our group of 8. Highly recommend.
C. S.
Great experience. They deep cleaned our table and food and drinks are delivered to your table after ordering by phone using an app. We had the vegan burger and it was superb.
J. O.
The experience at Barge East in my opinion is unique to anywhere else you can eat in London. We ate on the outside deck on a sunny evening and everyone in our group of 10 people agreed the setting, food and cocktails were sensational. A special mention has to go out to every member of staff who went above and beyond to make sure our party was perfect - from time of booking until the moment we left. Already looking forward to coming back on a Sunday and dining inside!
h. h.
Delicious food, equal love and care given to both meat and vegan options. Lovely outdoor setting so you can stay out in the fresh air even as winter sets in.
v. p.
Book a table and go! Staff, service and food are great. The set up has space between tables and precautions in place to keep things safe. Great atmosphere and really fun day out. Thank you, Barge East!
C. C.
Great setting, so lovely sitting amongst the fruit trees. Service was good, as was the food. Will return.
P. A.
An absolute wonderful place to dine and drink! On a windy February afternoon we came across what i would have to say is one of my now favourite places to eat! This place has it all!! The food, location the wonderful staff. I defy anyone not to want to return! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon and evening! I look forward to a summer drink on the bank.
E. T.
Where do we start!! Celebrated a birthday with a large group last night and just wow. Rarely bother reviewing places but had to get online today. The friendliest bar staff (recommend the Roller IPA it’s yum). The most incredible, delicious, devine food we’ve had in ages!! We had lots of small plates and I can honestly say every dish was superb and to have food arrive seamlessly for a group of circa 25 is impressive. We stayed for drinks after dinner too and the atmosphere is just perfect. An evening well spent with friends, suitable for all ages and even better dog friendly - will be back!
P. C.
Very quick and friendly service even when busy, very nice food, prices could be a little lower but are still not bad. Really nice place to eat by the canal.
D. D.
Pretty outdoor restaurant with lovely staff. Good service and presentation, they upcycled some materials which was a nice touch. The food was great - try the chickpea chips and the burgers are very good too.
I. S.
Welcoming & friendly staff. Decent selection of drinks, including some craft ales. Reasonably priced. Nicely set up bar & restaurant inside with warm wooden decor & unusual tables. More seating is available on the deck upstairs. Really cool spot for a drink with friends 😁
a. d.
Great spot for lunch! The food was so much better than we had expected! They have a really cool kitchen garden next to the boat where you can also sit to eat your food.
T. W.
Mind blowingly good! Meet every expectation from London's no. 2 restuarant on Tripadviser!
a.
Such a welcoming and warm atmosphere! My tired pooch was sweetly looked after as well as my taste buds with their interesting, seasonal and varied menu. If I'm in the area again, this independent and intelligent venture is where I'll be looking to have my pit stop at. Thanks for a fabulous lunch in a fabulous setting!
A. P.
You have got to try this restaurant!! On the river in a large boat. Some of the best food I have eaten, with a really great relaxed atmosphere! You will not be disappointed. The menu is not highly extensive but well selected and extremely good. Highly recommended!!
C. D. V.
Excellent, thoughtful, tasty food. Lovely staff and wine, relaxed atmosphere. Stand out dishes were Szechuan aubergine with cashew cream, and the rice pudding with chervil and blood orange. Vegan friendly.
H. W.
The staff is very friendly and the boat itself is very cute. It was not disappointing to come here for lunch - it was as unbelievable as the comments. Recommend to all your friends and you will be back soon!
T. Q.
Went to the terrace during the day. Very limited options, as a veggie, it was falafel for start, falafel for mains. Nice staff and lovely venue
C. A.
We held a Christmas party here for clients. Took over the whole place! And the emails from clients are still coming in saying that it was the best venue and the best party they've been to for a long time.
The barge is cosy yet not small. It's comfortable with enough seating for those who wanted/needed to sit. There's an upstairs deck which I didn't visit myself but I was told it was roomy and warm.
Food was great! Imaginative and delicious canapes were going all evening and the great range of beers and wines behind the bar meant that nobody went without. They even had mocktails and other alcohol free alternatives for those who wanted.
I'm happy to say I was somewhat suspect about the barge as a venue when it was first mooted but I'm delighted to say that it utterly blew my expectations out of the water (no pun intended). So much so that I'm making plans to come back here with friends so that they can experience the Barge for themselves!
T. H.
Get yourself out for a nice long walk and meet a few mates for a socially distanced spot of food and drink at one of the many outdoor tables on the barge, on their terrace or in the garden with home grown veg. If you time it right you can soak up the last of the sunshine too. We didn't eat, but the burgers looked baaaannngggiinnggg.
J. M.
Utterly fantastic, can't recommend highly enough
C. B. H.
Incredible food, great cocktails and awesome staff- really knowledgeable about the menu, really helpful and attentive. They were also brill at helping with my gluten free needs!
J. H.
This is such a great place to chill and have drinks with friends. And the food is AMAZING. I’m vegan and they easily adjusted the menu items to suit me - vegan flatbread, chickpea fries (these are so good I could eat them everyday) and the coconut tapioca were all delicious! Will definitely come here again.
K. a. W.
Barge East has really stepped up to the challenge and adapted quickly to create an atmospheric space to enjoy this wonderful summer we are having. With an open air setting, there are different options to choose from (food, drink, bookings, no bookings) with something to suit everyone! There's something truly special about Hackney Wick and Barge East is a must visit!
A. B.
I had my birthday meal for 23 people last night at the Barge and it was great. Delicious food, lovely staff and the cabin was gorgeous in the summer evening light. Customer service was great leading up to the booking. Thanks guys!
J. H.
We celebrated my partner's 40th birthday at Barge East and it was a fantastic night. The staff were super friendly and attentive and the food was outstanding (even though we were a large, 30+ group!). I would highly recommend Barge East to anyone looking for a venue in East London. Thanks for a great and memorable night :)

We went for a Sunday brunch, and all four of us were in love with everything about this place from the moment we sat down until we left. Food, drinks, service, atmosphere - everything was absolute perfection! This will be an difficult brunch experience to top!
R. W.
Well, that was so disappointing.
Been looking forward to it for ages, really hard to book a table, needed to give a credit card to secure.
No. 3 TripAdvisor in London, No.2 Eater ‘Best Roasts in London’. Well, don’t believe the hype.
Seriously, if you want to be on these lists you need to raise your game. Average food and less than average service. The short rib beef was dry and the chicken was bland. And no Yorkshires. And poor Roast potatoes.
I’m not sure if there is a law against that, but there should be.
If you think you are so good that the ‘communal roast potatoes’ fulfils the Roast description then seriously, you need to take a good look at yourselves.
And nothing like the reservation for the next table being plonked in front of you while you are eating, just to re-enforce that feeling that they just want you out of there after taking your cash.
Seriously, I love the “3 friends buying a barge in Holland and opening a restaurant” story, but you need to at least try and meet expectations.
C. D.
Their corona app was awful, got charged 3 times for one order, got one refund automatically but had to call them for the second. If you can’t run an app based service don’t bother, the third payment I insisted was via card machine and an actual waitress and was fine.
M.
A great place to go for dinner! The upper deck has a beautiful view on the river, stadium and London skyline. The food is delicious and the staff are really friendly and accommodating
B. S.
Food was fine but there were almost no vegan options (just one starter, one main, one dessert) and the lights kept going off. The group I was with did say their meat food was great but all agreed it was a pretty bum deal if you're veggie!
m. s.
We had a wonderful meal on the deck of Barge East in the sunshine.
My wife is Gluten free and enjoyed her meal very much.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We will certainly be going back next time we are in London.
C. P.
Delicious food and the staff are all so lovely; we had a fabulous time and will definitely be back
R.
Nice location and very friendly staff. Managed to fit us in in their outdoor seating following the current restrictions. Great beer!
h. h.
Very friendly staff and great location but the vegan panisse were too oily and the burgers are pricey.
L. P.
The food looked great, will most certainly return to actually have a full meal. Thanks to the very friendly, beautiful Czech waitress to get the chef to make us just a bowl of roasties, (which were perfect by the way) even though she couldn't understand a word that came out of my cockney mouth!
B. M.
Good atmosphere and lovely staff, but the flatbread was really really disappointing and overpriced. Will come back to try the roast some day, as this is what they’re famous for
C. J.
A super nice place for some drinks and food! The staff if amazing and the place incredible. A place to repeat!
J. M.
Came on Saturday for a friend's birthday party and we all had the best time sitting in the sunshine on the top deck, then continued the party dancing below deck when the sun went down. Great bar, great people and great food! Thanks for having us xxx

⭐️⭐️⭐️: Only Go If Someone Else Made The Plans
Really cool setting an vibe, however the food wasn’t anything to write home about. There was too much focus on complexity versus quality which resulted in coming across as a fine dining wannabe
M. E.
Lovely little restaurant with great staff, very good food and a scenic setting. Nice walk down canal. Only downside is the cocktails are rather pricey for the size!
B. C.
Had an amazing afternoon at Barge East, we sat on top deck and the food was amazing especially the pork and chorizo scotch egg, chickpea fries, courgette flowers, kofta flatbread, pork belly...actually I could list the whole menu because everything was delicious!! There were a number of different dietary requirements within our large group which were all catered for brilliantly - definitely worth a visit. Oh and great local beers too!
j. e.
Had burgers on their terrace. Glad we booked as it was busy, with a lovely atmosphere - heaters and pretty fairy lights - but felt safe:)
N. L.
Really good food, venue, service and atmosphere. Despite the food being good, the only downsize was there was just not enough of it! The food portion sizes were too small
J. B.
Fantastic meal, and great to be back! The food really is special, and sitting up in the Captain's Cabin was a surprise bonus.
S.
It's good you can bring pets there but there is food being served...so maybe not so pleasant if you are eating and the person's dog on the next table decides to defecate!
M. J.
First ever vegan food, delish. Had plenty of mojitos before but this was one of the best. Friendl vibes, , great on a sunny day
C. L.
A bit pricey, but sooo delicious! Gluten Free and Vegan options available!
S. L.
Amazing food and great service.
A. B.
Very cozy little bar and restaurant. I went innon a cold January afternoon and the warm fire and friendly staff made it all the better. The food smelt amazing and the beers from Truman's brewery were very well kept and tasty
R. C.
Nice place for a drink and something to eat by the canal
J. D.
Wonderful to sit outside and be served excellent food. Loved the buttermilk chicken
J. M.
Lovely place, awesome vibe and great coffee.
S. P. (.
Lovely canalside venue. Menu was limited but maybe due to time we were there (lunch)
R. S.
Always a wonderful experience. Amazing food and every member of staff was friendly and helpful. Love this place. Can't wait to go back.
J. K.
One of the best places I've eaten in ages. The service was perfect. The food was delicious. It's a great atmosphere on board Barge East. Hope to be back very soon.
r. s.
Quirky and pretty. Love the concept of natural surroundings and fab for a summer evening to relax with a drink. Menu is restricted, so a few more choices of bar snacks would be good
A. L.
LOVE Barge East! Such a great spot, nowhere better in London when the weather is nice. The food is outstanding and great range of drinks. Loved the quirky features of being on a boat!
T. O.
Lovely ambiance, went here with my girlfriend and she also absolutely loved the food and environment... takes you out of the four walls of London city vibe to a more rustic vibe just by the river side .. absolutely love it.
a. L.
Really nice venue and now the outside area is up and running it's really fun. They also do eat out to help out so works out nice and cheap. Make sure you book though.
M.
Went for the Sunday roast and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere and service is perfect. The food was amazing especially the dessert. Highly recommend it for those looking for a chilled Sunday roast.
F. O.
Totally magic and awesome place. Warm welcome, great selection of veers, with possibility of tasting before making a choice. Lovely dining area. Just 10/10
R. P.
Fantastic evening. First night out after lockdown and what a fantastic choice we made. Service and foods were great.
G. V. V.
Went to the barge east around the time they first opened their cabin doors to the people. I went with 2 friends for an evening meal. we ordered a lot of different items to share amongst us. starters was the sausage roll- this was not your ordinary sausage roll, this was a chunky piece of sausage with a delightful chilli jam. the jam we actually saved for our main too. also had the artichoke soup (veloute) which was delicious and very fluffy, and was accompanied by a deep friend duck egg-- which went amazingly well together. I chose the beef short rib for my main- so succulent and tasty. now lets get to the dessert- best dessert i have ever had- and this was even when i was full. the chocolate tart went very well with the orange creme, and there was a very crispy cacao wafer like sheet sticking out. so much flavour, i would come back just for the dessert alone. ryan (chef) and blandy had a lovely chat with us too after as we were sat next to the kitchen, and seemed genuine and nice. will definitely return here for sure
T. O.
Burrata was mixed with ricotta which was disappointing. Panisse was pretty tasteless. Shame as ain't been out in a while!
G. G.
The Covid precautions here were excellent. Ordered via the app but felt that the staff were really helpful and available too. Lovely spot to sit out and relax.
L. S.
Everything about this place is great, we visited for Sunday dinner having seen the reviews and it didn't disappoint - the food and the service were excellent and the music created a great atmosphere. I can't wait to come back.
N. I.
DO NOT TRUST THE DEMON DISGUISED AS A CHEF!!
I do not really write many reviews but I feel its my duty to warn you. I called her a demon and I will tell you why....You will not be able to resist her chants....do not make eye contact....we made this mistake. We did not want dessert as we are fitness buffs, but "somehow" we ended up ordering Salted caramel chocolate tart....oohhh god! that tart! I mean, we knew it was wrong but we just couldn't stop! Spoon after spoon of this delicately assembled rich delicious awesomeness went into our mouths....and with every spoonful was a sigh of relief....as if the time it took to load up the spoon and travel to my mouth was an eternity. I am pretty sure we were possessed! You have been warned!!
But please....if you do end up in the same predicament, manage to have a moment of clarity and question whether you should have it, please call me! I will happily sacrifice myself for you!
PS: Apart from the evil chef(mentioned above), I love this place...the hosts are amazing super friendly and helpful! The venue is nothing short of unique, with a unmistakable nautical feel, munis the sea sickness. My also dog loves being there(obviously dog friendly) and hanging with Molly the lovely K9 host.
The food....well I will be back...again and again! I mean I am not a big fan of hummus but I polished off the whole Spiced red pepper hummus dish and then asked for more! We decided to have 3 mains, best idea ever, the sea bass with...damn that the risotto was a banging combination!, Burratta (rich!! mmmm!!!) and the.....oooohh! the pork belly....that pork belly! perfectly cooked and melts in your mouth!! As for dessert.....well please read above...we didn't really have a choice....I swear! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu! Cannot wait to go back!!
F. E.
Great location and service was super friendly. Jaoe has been amazing in explaining everything 🥰
L. C.
Stumbled across this place by accident and so glad we did! Lovely cocktails and staff. Looking forward to going back to try some food!
D. E.
UPDATED: visited the restaurant and can confirm, it is absolutely delicious, cosy and a little romantic. Strongly recommend a visit here. Though if you go willy nilly with the drinks and the food (which we did) you will end up with a hefty bill at the end. Totally worth it though.
We stopped in here on a Sunday evening and it had a really fun end of weekend vibe.
It was the first post-Covid weekend so we were happy to forgive the long wait time for our drinks. Seems a really nice spot to get a drink. We'll be back for food at some point...
S. L.
Lovely, relaxed spot on the river Lea. Good Covid-19 social distancing/hygiene measures in place too. Super friendly staff and speedy service for drinks and food.
D. K.
Amazing food in a unique setting.
D. F. F.
Hi Barge East its a lovely place to enjoy and it's happy place nice people around
Many thanks
K. G.
Fantastic food and excellent service (especially Ivy who was our waitress). We were here for a birthday party and sat in the captain's room which is a private area and great for a special occasion.
P. R.
Fantastic restaurant with amazing food! Staff were lovely and we had a lovely evening, thank you!
M. A.
Had wonderful evening staff super welcoming, friendly.
r. j.
A real gem. Nestled on the canal by the Olympic Stadium this barge come resturant is fabulous. Welcoming, tasty food and great service. A hidden gem that needs to be discovered and enjoyed. A must visit.
R. H. (.
Great place to go for a drink, especially when the weather is good. Far less crowded than the others in the area. They also sell Gluten Free beer and its family friendly.
a. d.
Lovely, cozy environment to dine
Top class service from staff
Scrumptious food made with a lot of care and passion
Fine dining at a very reasonable rate
Good local Ales like the Roller IPA
Perfect location away from the hustle bustle of the city on a canal
Highly recommended, especially for a quite date night or a relaxed evening outing.
E. A.
The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. Love the venue and the view. A must visit in London!
D. S.
A thoroughly enjoyable experience, enhanced by friendly owners and staff. Wish we'd visited earlier in the year when they first moored on the River Lea back in May 2018. Looking forward to repeat visits and dining.
L. C.
Great food, great staff. Chef and waitresses were attentive. Definitely would fine again.
S. B.
I can’t thank everyone at Barge East enough for making my 70th birthday lunch with 22 friends a memorable party. The food was absolutely delicious and it all went to make an amazing party which I won’t forget in a hurry. Thank you!
O. A.
Fantastic restaurant, everything was perfect, food, service, location, ambiance, decor, etc. The garden is gorgeous for a bite and drinks, the barge is perfect for dinner.
S. A.
Delicious, thoughtfully prepared food paired with yummy wine... while sitting canal side! Can't lose. We'll definitely be back.
G. S.
Nice vibe, good staff, amazing food! Best combination to enjoy a great time out! Highly recommend!
H. C.
Had a delicious meal (and drink) on Sunday. Obviously the venue is unique, but so is the food. Nothing similar in the area. Lovely people too.

It's a boat on the River at the back of the Olympic/London Stadium. Serves nibbles & a selection of drinks including craft beers. Great for a couple of drinks & a wee sharing dish.

We were a group of 10 in the captains room last night for a Christmas meal and what a fab time we had! The food, staff, atmosphere, setting were all great - highly recommend!

Favourite bar in London. Such character and the food is banging. Own veg garden etc. It’s dreamy
S. S.
More a summer venue, drinks choice limited, if they are to cater for fans going to the game they nerd to aquire a more run of the mill lager, comfortable and relaxing in general, they do promotions for free drinks etc, but they are not displayed prominently
W. B.
Fabulous food and great service at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this restaurant - superb!

1/2 portion of fries is a grand total of 3 fries. A full portion is £6.50 for 6 fries... Other than that it's alright
