Reviews of Bombay Brasserie

Great food. Experienced the best Indian food in London. Amazing service. Each and every dish are distinctive and flavourful. We also enjoyed the ambience, the environment and beautiful designs.
Will definitely come back to experience more.
P. P.
Food and ambiance was amazing.
Delicious and cooked to perfection.
Attended my nephew's wedding.
H. G.
Delicious and food with flavours which reminds us few indian states food. 😋. Try weekend brunch 🤩 and our all time fav pomegranate juice
S. P.
Enjoyed a Sunday Brunch with table service due to COVID restrictions.
Good variety of starters, mains and desserts. Bit restricted for Gluten Free choices though alternatives offered.
Ordered extra helping of chicken tikka which never arrived. But overall a pleasant outing with family at a reasonable price of £45.
Some nice exotic cocktails.
Beware no NHS Test and Trace check in performed on arrival.

Tried the taster menu as part of our post wedding reception dinner with friends. Food was ok, but pretty much standard Indian food, not a lot of creativity put into the dishes and menu itself. For the price we paid I would expect a slightly higher level of service and consistency.
Hosts/servers were great to speak with and very accommodating.
V. M.
We were in a large group so mandatorily had to go for the Taster menu... It was good but the large amount of tasters meant that we could not complete everything and there was a lot of food untouched even by the large group... Not a very efficient setup. Food was good in terms of options and taste but nothing really stood out as a signature or speciality dish.

Superb
We had our dinner in the middle of September 2020 just before the 10pm restriction. That was my firs time dining at Bombay Brasserie and definitely I’ll be back. Before we went there I read few of the recent reviews and I was a bit sceptical as people were not very happy with the service but I must say our night was absolutely fabulous, special the service. We were straggling with the parking space and one of the waiters were very helpful and he give us advice where to park the car. Food was delicious and we have been looked after very well.
One more thing, the interior design is absolutely fabulous.

Beautiful setting and very good service. Tried their tasting menu. Starters were good but the mains were lack of flavours. Disappointed with the dal and the curry was lack of spices. Naan breads were the highlight but chicken was dry. Dessert was delicious. Perhaps trying their à la carte menu next time.

Great experience as usual. This restaurant is a part of the renowned Indian Taj Group of Hotels.
Offers an authentic premium taste of West Indian cuisine.
During the lockdown, there was a set menu on offer which is somewhat similar to its sister restaurant, Quilon in Westminster.
Must come shrine of Indian cuisine.
S. B.
Quite pricy.. much better alternatives at this price point in terms of food. Starters were good, main course very average and Desserts are too sugary and very boringly prepared and presented. At these price points, you expect lot more thoughtfulness in mixing textures and presentation. Cocktails are just about OK.. alchemist is much better at lower price points.
H. K.
Fabulous decor and exquisite food. Great atmosphere and service too!

We went here for Sunday dinner, around 8.. the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The food was excellent, authentic Indian, hot and spicy. The ambience of the place was very classy and tasteful. A reservation is recommended before your visit, as the place was quite packed. We ordered a starter, 1 curry, 3 bowls of rice and 3 drinks and the price came to about 115£. The money is definitely worth it! 😊

An apsolute beautiful experience.
I went here aith my fiance and we had a lovely vegetarian meal.
Being indian, our expectations are always extremely high as we are used to excellent home cooking.
However i can honestly say we were introduced to tastes we had never experienced before.
The customer service was fabulous, the decor was up to date.
I would definately recommend this place
A. J.
Authentic Indian food, with great service! Had a amazing time, savouring indian delicaies with a nice presentation! Staff was truly friendly and shared their experience and advice to have good memorable experience!! 👏 👍 👍

Based in a prime location of central London, it’s easy to get to either by tube or road. As it is a part of the renowned Indian Taj Group of Hotels, expectations were very high and please to say they most definitely surpassed them!
It offers an authentic premium taste of Indian cuisine. Whether you go for set menu or à la carte you honestly can’t go wrong.
Complimentary papad with fresh mango chutney was such a treat! Great portion sizes for both starters and main courses. Would certainly recommend!
A. A.
Very nice interiors. Very good food and would go back, although wouldn’t say its best Indian food in London (compared to the Michelin starred Indian restaurants). Unlimited food on the weekend brunch is amazing value for money given the standard of the food
C. K.
Lovely restaurant serving Indian food! We loved the decor, the menu & the very nice waitress who served our table. We came here on a Monday night and it was not too busy nor loud. It’s perfect for a date night or business dinner as you don’t sit too close to the next table.
A. B.
Portions of food was way too expensive! Bottle of still water £4, four triangle pieces of naan £4.00 each, grill kebab platter £30 (for only a few pieces of meat) which was ridiculous! Strawberry mocktail tasted nice but costed me £9!!! Wow... my husband also ordered chicken biryani, he asked the waiter to make it spicy the biryani was tasteless no authentic taste at all! i visited here after reading good reviews. The service was first class, interior was beautiful, atmosphere was dead quite (maybe because i visited on a sunday evening) however, i tried better tasting food than this place for much cheaper. Overall; very disappointed on the taste and portions of the food spent £100 in total damn.
S. M.
Brilliant food ! Great service! Must visit and enjoy 😊

Beautiful meal in a stunning restaurant with plenty of space between tables. Attentive staff and great atmosphere. Whilst the food portions aren't large, the food is incredibly tasty. It is very pricey though. 》Please like helpful reviews《

Opened in 1982, this Indian restaurant in Kensington has been a fixture of the dining scene for nearly four decades. Comprising of bar, restaurant and conservatory area Bombay Brasserie serves a fusion of Goan, Bengali, Parsi & Gujerati cuisine. We visited to try their weekend buffet brunch.
The door to the restaurant opens directly into the dimly lit and classically decorated Bombay bar. As our eyes adjusted, the sound of classical Indian music truly transported us away from the London hustle and bustle we had just stepped in from. Our coats were taken as we admired the bar and lounge area and we were led into the dining room – a vast space decorated with sparkling chandeliers, greenery and vintage Indian photographs. The buffet itself is located in the light and bright conservatory with separate stations for each course and you can top up your plate as often as you please.
The starters station has a “live chaat counter” with spiced chicken and prawns (not too spicy), spinach and potato cakes, bhel, sev puri and paani puri (the king of Indian street food in my opinion) prepped on the spot for you by the in-house chefs. A range of delicious chaat options are available to add.
There is a huge variety of main dishes from chilli pepper fried fish, a South Indian tilapia speciality that was gorgeously flaky and crunchy in breadcrumbs, lamb biryani, tinda coconut masala, murg ajmeri (a creamy chicken thigh and cashew nut curry), aloo suwa (baby potato & dill), kathal palak (saag like spinach and jackfruit dish) and paneer bhurjee which were amongst our favourites.
Vegetarians, there is a great variety for you and for meat eaters the lamb and chicken options plus the meaty jackfruit kathal palak are on point. The dishes range in their spice levels with some hitting the spicier end of the spectrum – but fear not, there is a raita station at hand with a range of plain or spiced yogurt accompaniments plus chutneys to temper the heat. There is also an impressive pickle selection (mango & ginger were our favourites) plus basmati rice and some beautifully presented watermelon/feta and bean salads.
If you have space (if you don’t, make room!) head to the dessert station for a range of fresh fruit, zingy, moist lemon cake, halwa, melt in the mouth and sugary sweet Indian fave gulab jaman, gulab jaman cheesecake (sadly, we didn’t get to try this as it was very popular!) kulfi (mango & coconut Indian ice cream) and kheer which was perfectly cooked and topped with pretty dried rose petals. There is a great selection and we would advise getting a little of everything as they are handily served in mini sizes.
Tea/coffee is included with the weekend brunch but we additionally ordered a fresh orange juice and a mango lassi which was sweet and yoghurt-y and served in a huge glass (as any good lassi should be!).
Bombay Brasserie restaurant in Kensington is a great spot for weekend brunch: expect an exciting variety of food, crisp white table linens, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful interiors and attentive service (and a live pianist to boot!). At £37pp it is on the pricier side so perhaps better for a special occasion.

This last visit was a bit disappointing considering the prices! Butter chicken, nans, okra, kali daal, paneer tikka starter were good. Service was excellent but the lamb curry was a bit disappointing - tasted as if the chef had just chucked in pieces of lamb into a pre-prepared curry sauce! Needs improving there. Service is excellent and the restaurant is owned by a pedigree company so I'm sure this was a one-off! Def worth going to though - lovely atmosphere and decor!

Had dinner this week.
Best Indian i have ever had!!
Unbeatable.
Food so fresh and tasty
A must if in West London

Had the Sunday brunch.
Everything was served at the table.
Nice selection of dishes and dessert.Very filling.
Good service.

Tasty and well presented weekend buffet in a cosy atrium including starters and desserts. Some of the staff are a bit stiff. Clean toilets to freshen up before & after a meal.
N. D.
Excellent place with very posh Indian meal. The decor is more of old English club, with a beautiful chandelier gracing the centre. Service was excellent and you feel pampered all the way. Also its just next to the underground station.
A. J.
Love this restaurant. The friendly welcome, the piano player tinkling away and creating a wonderful atmosphere and the general ambiance. I can recommend the griddled prawns and the Adraki lamb chops. The naans and roti are delicious too. All in all I highly recommend it.
H. C.
Quite a fancy place, helpful and attentive staff, simple and easy menu. Delicious food, and desert even better. Loved everything I ordered and ate all of it 👍🏼👌🏼 highly recommend the smoked aubergine and seasonal veggies 😋
K. B.
Owned by Taj Mahal hotel, India & glorified ably by Executive Chef, Prahlad Hegde. PDR, Bar, amazing Indian food. London visit not complete without this Gloucester road icon, next to Millennium Hotel!
V. K.
Starters were a bit spicy.main food was little bland and not tasty.
Overall had good experience
S. K.
The food was quite nice, but the servers were a bit too cool! The mango sorbet was unexpectedly good except that I find the vermicelli a bit strange.
M. C.
Great Indian food, the atmosphere is great and the food is sublime. Very well priced for the quality. Well worth a visit.

Good ambiance, great service, comfortable seating. Food: great Indian taste, nice selection of chats. Food serviced during the lunch buffet is quite normal, I won’t say ordinary: over all great place. They make your occasion special with nice little cake cutting ceremony.
N. J.
Good ambience and service but very ordinary food quality.
C. P.
Celebrated my Birthday here.. The staff is amazing and the food was delicious.. Loved the ambience of this place..
J. G.
Elegant, spacious and comfortable Indian restaurant. Good food and service. Close to Gloucester Road tube station and the nearby hotels.

The service was great. They were very friendly and helpful. The food was okay I wasn't blown away and I was really disappointed with the dessert. The venue is pretty and it's definitely worth trying once.

This randomly picked restaurant become surprisingly pleasant experience.
I was accompanying group of friends visiting from India and while looking for an Indian restaurant near their hotel, able to accommodate group of 7 people in dinner time without a reservation, we found this brasserie.
We had to wait a bit for the table, so we sat on a sofa in the bar area and were quickly attended by the bartender.
I was surprised by the interesting interior - old photographs of the Taj family, animal statues, grand chandeliers and live piano music.
We were sat at a large round table under one of the chandeliers in the centre of the restaurant, which felt quite grand.
We ordered & shared number of different vegetarian dishes so I had a tasted of everything.
The waiting for the main course took a bit longer, but we got plenty of complimentary snacks and mini mushroom soup.
We spent over 2 hours and witness two fireworks at surrounding tables.
When we got the bill - they have no tip policy.
There was only £1 donation for a children's charity.
In total I would recommend this restaurant for groups or special occasions.

Celebrated Eid at Bombay Brassiere this evening. Had a family dinner with 12 people! First large dinner party since lockdown and Bombay Brassiere was the perfect choice! Had such a splendid evening with outstanding service!!
- Staff we’re very attentive and on point. Never had to ask for something twice. Fast and on the ball! Everyone had a great attitude!
- Special shout out to the manager who even opened the restaurant early today just for our booking, he was so nice, polite, hands on, and extremely accommodating. He just made the entire evening, from ordering A LOT of food to settling the bill very no-fuss and effortless.
- Portions on the starters were very generous - very much worth the price. Everything we got was amazing and we practically got everything!
- Food Presentation was no-fuss and elegant, not the typical ‘insta-craze’ decor and plating, which I appreciated.
- Ambience was chilled and we felt free to move around and be comfortable! (not an overly dark or loud restaurant!)
Overall everything was spot on. Great vibe, beautiful decor, delicious food and excellent service!
P. K.
A nice, upscale, retro-themed, one of the oldest Indian cuisine restaurant in London. The food, and ambience is great to enjoy at leisure.
J. P.
Top place for fine Indian dining. Basically order anything from the menu and you will not be disapointed. Decent wine list as well. Highest marks for the service from the excellent staff. Perfect place for bigger events ( weddings, birthdays and so on...).
I. J.
We went for a wedding here and it was amazing. Had such a good time if you looking for a venue one of the best right here.
M. S.
Good food, good atmosphere and plenty of 'social space' around the diners. Chef was willing to cook everyone's meal exactly how they wanted it (quite rare to find this). Also easy to get to due to its location next to the tube station (Gloucester Road)

Dined at Bombay Brasserie on the 12th August for an anniversary celebration. We were greeted by a smile and quickly shown to our table. Dining room being quite nice, spacious from other tables and comfortable.
Chose one of every mocktail on the menu and an added Virgin mojito as we were thoroughly impressed on how good these were. Complimentary Papads were a nice touch with a really nice Mango Chutney. We then proceeded to choose 3 starters, Green Carfreal, Seekh Kebab and Tikka which all were amazing. Packed with flavor, Punch stronger than that of any boxer and soft as can get, so tender. 3 main courses then followed; Chicken Makhani, Mangolorean Chicken and Biryani accompanied by Naan, Egg Paratha and Raita. Chicken Makhani was really nice and creamy, Mangalorean chicken a little bit of a let down but that could be due to being use to a different kind at other restaurants and Biryani and Breads being good too, not exceptional. Main highlights were the drinks and starters. Portions sizes are what is expected from Restaurants at this price point too, so nothing wrong there.
Service was good, standard service, non intrusive and followed a certain service protocol but not beyond expectation either for a restaurant with the name as big as this one.
Overall, we enjoyed the evening and have come to a conclusion that the drinks and starters are well worth a visit for
T.
Fancy spot, good table service and pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, for me, the food we had was nothing out of the ordinary.
N.
Stunningly good, from the moment you set foot inside that delightfully-inviting candle-lit foyer, to the cavernous restaurant (SO MANY waiters!) and its amazingly-comprehensive menu.
V. D.
Warm and welcoming ambience.
Authentic and delicious food.
Good service
Overall a nice experience

Upscale Indian restaurant. Nice ambient atmosphere. Food and service were great.

So we turned up at around 7pm on Father’s Day without booking and the manager was kind enough to seat us as long as we finished by 8:30 which we agreed to do. It was our first visit here and we decided to come as the ambiance was inviting when we popped our head through the restaurant door. The fact that circa 90 pc of the patrons were well heeled Asians didn’t pass us by and we considered that a good sign. The service was friendly and quick. The food, fresh and delicious. The palak paneer was just perfect, not too mild or spicy. The chicken tikka masala curry had a lovely smoky flavour through it. The portions were remarkably a good size. We opted for naan with our meal and it was so light and fluffy yet filling. However the best was yet to come, the desert of choice was the gulab jam on rose cheesecake. This has to be one of the best cheese cakes I’ve ever had. So velvety and smooth and aromatic…… muah! Yes it is in on a little pricy side but well within the range of that part of London and in line with similar restaurants such as Zaika. When we received the bill it said they had a no tipping policy which we would never have guessed from the wonderful attentive service we received. 100 pc recommend.

Excellent service and outstanding food.
S. A.
hands down, THE best indian restaurant I have ever eaten at. highly recommended 👍🏻 the waiter Seraj was outstanding

We hosted a small celebration party and I cannot express the impeccable service provided. All the staff were extremely accommodating and attended to all our needs. A special credit to the restaurant manager Benny who was absolutely brilliant. He is a real credit to Bombay Basserie. The food was well presented and served fresh and hot.
I would highly recommend their venue for a celebration party !!
N. N. J.
Brilliant Indian Taste. Very upscale. Only through appointments. All you eat buffet on weekends. Not very cheap but worth every penny
J. P.
Perfect service, food is nice but the choices are very standard for vegetarians.

Great food and dining experience. Boss paid the bill so it was all good :-)
A. C.
Amazing food and staff.great place to have authentic dishes Beautifully presented and fresh as it comes.Worth a visit!
S. R.
Relaxing and safe environment. Flavours were refined and cooked to perfection. Service was exceptional. Halibut starter is recommended and the freshly made Malabar Paratha are light, crispy, and the perfect accompaniment to some great main courses. Will be returning again!

The chicken biriyani 🥘 is a nice dish to eat. So is the tandoori salmon 🐟. I have also enjoyed their naan bread. Given the area the price is fairly understandable. However, I would not order from this place regularly as it is expensive and my order on UberEats took ages.
R. A.
Positives - the rooms are beautiful, shame they didn't have any seating in the kind of conservatory area, but understandable at the moment
The food was good, not amazing but good
Negatives - service wasn't good, brusque and hurried, maybe again a sign of the times and wanting to turn tables, but it's expensive even for the area so that didn't sit right with us
It IS expensive, I think I would say overpriced actually, I have eaten better for a lot less, perhaps paying for the lovely room as opposed to the service and food, I don't think I would return.
3 stars are for the setting and one waiter who was ok, shame he didn't serve us all the way through.
G. R.
Must admit, I am partial and have a extra fondness for Sriram (exec chef) and his restaurants incl his michelin star Quilon. The Bombay Brassiere has not lost it edge despite the pandemic. Celebrated my Son's 21st birthday and enjoyed every stage of our course and a hospitality that is truly..... Wah Taj!!!
B. H.
Great Indian food in colonial Indian atmosphere of the Taj London hotel.
R. L.
Beautiful place with tasteful decoration. Food is good and well presented. Table server are attentive and courteous. It was a good dinner. Price wise it's on a upper range, it was expected so no surprise here.

Went in for Sunday Lunch.
Cost: £41 per person.
Good:
+ It is filling, decent quantity and well presented.
+ Not part of London Congestion Zone.
+ Awesome ambiance.
+ COVID-19 distancing and precautions are good.
+ Clean toilets.
Bad:
- We did not enjoy all items in the meal, in fact only 4 items out of about 20.
- Seems due to COVID-19 there are less staff, this does not necessarily affect the service but Benares, Gymkhana and Tamarind has better trained staffs overall.
- I love Koftas, and the Malai Kofta here was not good.
- Other not good items: Saffron Shrikhand (the Chef needs to relook at the recipe, I have had Shrikhand since I was born and it should not tasted like that).
- Indian Filter Coffee is not in traditional way but it is made like Western Filter Coffee.
Overall:
- Did not enjoy the food as much as I wished I would. Quilon would be a better choice than Bombay Brasserie which is from the same Chef and Group, however Quilon's menu seems to fit the Chef's abilities right. Bombay Brasserie menu feels like the Chef was asked to make things Gujarati / Parsi / Bombay way - but fails at most angle.
C. T.
Easily the best Indian food I had in years. The staff was really attentive and the recommendations were fantastic. The food's seasoning was pure perfection, each of the spices was exactly the right amount for a fine, yet distinct taste. Wine was great as well. I will definitely come back as soon as I can. I do not regret a single pound spent here.
H. M.
Large, fairly calm, though still filled to capacity restaurant. It's great, if you want to talk to each other at a bigger table. The place was pretty. I only give four stars, because there also wasn't anything special about the place. The food was good, but not outstanding, the restaurant pretty, but missed the WOW factor. So, if you are around, definitely worth a visit, but if you look for something special to try, I would go somewhere else.
M. M.
The best Indian I’ve ever visited. The food was excellent, as was the service and the ambiance. There was even a live pianist.
It also tastes healthy and doesn’t sit too heavy on the stomach. The servers know about the food and can recommend options based on your taste. All in all, a fantastic night here. Will definitely be visiting again in the future!
J.
Ok, it's expensive but so tasty. They have a small distinct menu where every dish is identifiably different (not like a normal Indian restaurant). The venison was especially good. Being part of the adjoining hotel building provides high ceilings and the decor is excellent.
R. J.
High class Indian food with a varied menu, good for vegetarians.
The outdoor area is very well sheltered.
Quite expensive, especially for the beer
H. K.
Great food, lovely ambience and excellent service
R. J.
Excellent food, extraordinary ambience and perfect blend of spices and flavours. Not too hot so everyone including kids can enjoy food.
B.
The service was incredible and the atmosphere was great. They catered brilliantly for our large group, but they only had one or two vegan options. The vegan options were the same price as the meat options which is a bit frustrating as they were far more simple. Despite this we had a lovely evening and I would definitely recommend. 🍃🌱
G. H.
Bombay Brasserie was alright. I had the Venison with Cucumber Salad and Bread. It was very good. I enjoyed a couple of drinks from the bar and they were quality as well. The service could have been a little better, but didn't bother me. Very nice location and would recommend for a date night or business meeting.
E.
High end Indian spot, up there with other solid restaurants (Zaika, Jamavar, dishoom), butter chicken was heavenly! Presentation here is much better here than any other Indian restaurant I’ve ever been, overall a very good experience, staff are very professional too! 10/10 recommend, top 5 Indian restaurant in London for me!
K. P.
Very attentive staff. Food good and unlike many Indian restaurants each dish discernible by look and taste from the others selected. Far too often a base curry paste that gets a little adjustment. Here much better. Only area for improvement a little long between courses would be preferable.
R. R. R.
Very very good dining experience! Right from the location to the ambience, the quality of the food, the drinks list and to the service it's a 5 on 5. Portion size seems a bit small at first, but it's quite sufficient. Fantastic for large groups as well - ask to get seated in the conservatory if possible; ita an absolute delight. Definitely recommend for special occassions.
D. V.
Excellent place for Indian food when in London and superb ambiance
A. D.
Great Michelin style Indian food. Also lots of vegan options
r. b.
I discovered this gem today the first time. It should not be anything less than 5 star because of 3 things : best ambience, best food, best service. We were there for a casual lunch n visited it the first time so did not have very high expectations. But after visiting it, it is certainly raised my expectations n the bar. I cant wait to visit it again.
A. P. M.
Atmosphere was nice, not too crowded. Service was fantastic. Good parking on a Sunday, but may be difficult on other days. Dress code seems to be smart casual. The food (Sunday lunch buffet) was nice, nothing special. The starters were better than the mains, but still all round a nice meal. Not worth the price in my opinion though.
m. t.
If budget is no problem, this is the best restaurant to go to for top quality Indian food. The portions are not generous but WOW! They don't compromise on flavour. Outside of the sub continent, this is the most authentic Indian food I have tasted. Truly wonderful.
O. P. (.
I loved it. Always have. One of my Top 3 high standard indian restaurants in the capital. You can't touch its excellence.
L. S.
Attended a wedding reception here on Saturday. As my baby is allergic to dairy and eggs I also have an egg and dairy free diet. None of the canapés were safe for me to eat but when my partner mentioned this to a staff member the chef made a small assortment of beautiful dishes especially for me. Most of the main dishes were fine, and really tasty and when I asked if some plain rice would be possible it was brought to me with a smile.. so accommodating and genuine! Thank you all so much ... a lovely wedding and dining experience.
F. K.
We enjoy Indian food a lot even though we are no experts. We really liked the dishes, particularly the sea bass was excellent. The dining room is very large and there is sufficient privacy to have a private dinner conversation. Service could be a little forthcoming but we appreciated the long-enough pauses between courses. While this place is less fancy and modern than Amaya, we will come back to have great Indian food in a spacious setting.
s. s.
Very good restaurant serving food with Western Indian influenced flavours. It is a great value for money restaurant with fine dine experience. Courteous staff. Starve before heading to this restaurant and enjoy the tasting menu.
A. T.
Simply AMAZING!

About as good as it gets for curry in London. Excellent location, really beautiful decor. Excellent service. Very subtle but professional. Food was delicious. Absolutely outstanding. Huge portions of excellent quality. I didn't visit the bar but from what I understand it can get quite busy. Overall an outstanding restaurant.
M. F.
Outstanding restaurant. Absolutely amazing food 🤤 & fantastic service. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great Indian food. Easily the best Indian restaurant we have visited. 😁
C. B.
Really great food, loved the authenticity of the restaurant. The dining area out in the conservatory part of the restaurant is beautiful and I would definitely recommend asking for a table in that section rather than the main restaurant. Good for groups/families as you can get lots of dishes and share from the centre of the table. Felt the service was a little slow. Had an empty glass more times than I would have liked.
S. G.
Great brunch menu. Remember you can ask for repeats.
V. R.
Nice ambience, great service and good food
A group friends went to bowling at Acocks Green bowl and wanted to have dinner at a place nearby. This was the closest and the menu looked appropriate for our liking.
Booking process was hassle free.
Ambience was very nice and inviting.
Staff were excellent and service was great. Were keen to help with additional detail and also kept checking if everything was alright.
I would rate food as good because it was fresh and served hot for a table of 9 and all at the same time. Taste was ok for my liking. Lamb starter was a little chewy but the rest of the dishes were good. Desi lamb curry was delicious.
Pricing is reasonable for the portion size.
Definitely recommend for a nice Indian dinner.
R. C.
Amazing food and service as always
F. M.
I am starting my review saying that the food was very delicious. However I am giving 3 stars because of the service received by the waiters. Food is served on the table but no one tells you what is it (even if you order the experience menu). No one comes to serve you the wine - consider we had our in the cold basket next to our table and every time someone had to stand up. A waiter literally grabbed from friend’s hands the menu while she was still reading because everybody - a part from her - agreed to take the experience menu. First of all, we were 4 of us in total. 3 wanted the experience menu while 1 have an order a la carte - and apparently this is not possible. I mean, fine. But at least ask if you can take something - specially if it is being used!
J. P.
The brunch is a fun and busy affair. We had a fairly big group which was nice and with almost a fully private area it was really quite comfortable. The down side were the long queues for the food and we often had to wait for food to be replenished. They seemed very under staffed as drinks took ages to order and receive, so we didn't really get to order half of what we wanted, but luckily we had water on the table to stop us really getting parched.
Overall it was a nice meal for the price and the atmosphere is really nice with a very open and well designed interior to make it feel like a nice grand venue. Just would like to see better staffing and a much better level of attention to diners from the staff that are allocated to each table.
P.s. collecting our coats and umbrellas on the way out was awful. They weren't organised and they didn't have any help coming even when a long queue formed and tags hadn't been put on items properly. Shockingly poor management on this side.

Wonderful food and surroundings. Friends from Wales found the food here better than in top hotels in India. Shailesh and team -great well trained staff, knowledgable about suitable wines to go with our meals. Wonderful desserts - just fabulous!! Don't bother to go anywhere else!
V.
Lovely ambience and building. Good and attentive service. Buffet variety and quality appear to have gone down over the last few years. Starting to feel like it's not worth the price anymore. Please bring back the old buffet!
K. U.
A very nice restaurant, looks a bit like an old English gentlemen's club. Tables in the restaurant are nicely spread out, not packed like sardines in a tin.
The food was definitely a step up from our local curry houses. Dishes were recognisable, but more refined.
We drunk beer with the meal and they have a very interesting selection of craft beers, though slightly overpriced at 8-10 pounds per 330ml bottle.
The staff was friendly and efficient, and there when you needed them (except the lady at the reception desk when we were leaving, she ignored us when we were clearly looking for our coats)

I hadn't visited the Bombay Brasserie in a long time but nothing has changed. An elegant dining area with a sumptuous Indian buffet. As a very fussy vegetarian I am critical of most places but the Bombay Brasserie does not disappoint. I highly recommend it for both vegetarian cuisine and meat dishes. Excellent value for money too and the staff are very attentive. In particular Yemi, Sharuk and the assistant manager Bernado Pires, many thanks for making my husbands Father's Day meal truly memorable.
I. P.
Food was not as great as i have had before but as my Daughter said I expect a lot , yet still as good as you will get in any top place in the UK .Class service just as good as In India . Very professionally run but then that's what I would expect from a place connected to the Taj. four stars since the spinach was not up to standard as in other Taj Restaurants
K. A.
Must visit for an authentic Indian food though pricing is on a upper scale. But wont regret.
T. A.
Visited last month, nice decor and conservatory. Fits perfectly in the area it is. It was fairly busy but as it is large never felt loud or busy.
The food was delicious as you can imagine for a michelin stat restaurant and service impecabble.
There was a family from abroad whom seemed to be regulars so goes to show it is popular with foreigners aswell as locals.
M. L.
Not for those looking for a cheap meal. Entrance is very grand and have ample of spaces to hold big groups. Be warned they disclose if you have kids under 4 and that cry is asked to be taken outside to not disturb other patrons (fair, full disclosure). Food was in point and fairly fast for fresh made naan and prakora (may have spelt this incorrectly). Do not miss out on the starters as I believe they were the best on the menu. We did 7 vegetarian dishes to start and all was delicious and well seasoned and have just enough heat. This place is not recommended for young guests who can not handle spice as even the prawns dish still carried some heat. The service was very prompt and most times on queue.
A. S.
If you're looking for a superior Indian dining experience, this gorgeous restaurant ticks all the boxes. Ambient and beautiful, the service and decor is equal to the food - absolutely magnificent. Perfect for a special meal for two.
S. A.
This is by far the best Indian restaurant I have ever dined at. We were there dining last night and have enjoyed a lovely meal. Although limited menu, but reasonable portion. The interior decor is amazingly beautiful and very good attentive service.
V. V.
Very good Indian food.
Ambience is fantastic, and ideal for families or groups. I am going to go here for sure more often. Beware of biriyani spice level, default can kick you up a knotch.
Perfect if you are hitting royal Albert Hall for music.
A. M.
Definitely a top contender amongst some of the renown fine dining Indian restaurants. Very impressive starters. I would most certainly recommend a booth, as I detest the idea of sitting too close with other guests.
M. H.
We experienced an absolutely fantastic meal, great atmosphere and excellent service. Above all the food was very fresh, fragrant and delicious, certainly fine Indian cuisine and attention to detail.
T. C.
Great & reasonably expensive restaurant. Will be easily £50 for two people. Authentic Indian food. Starters are the best. Highly recommend it if you want some good time.
M. J.
London is full of Indian fine dining restaurants, but this place is very special. The most authentic and tasty food you can find in this city. It's expensive sure, but an absolutely brilliant experience of perfect dining.
Will surely visit again.
K. J.
We ordered almost each vegetarian dish in the menu (we were a party of 7). We found food to be quite disappointing to be honest given all the good reviews. Gobhi edamame was so stiff because wasn't cooked fully. Paneer was just bland - no flavour, no seasoning, nothing. Overall pretty low quality food in my opinion. Only the ambience is something really good, and if course the staff was nice too.
C. B.
Literally PERFECTION without exaggeration!! The restaurant itself is stunning the Piano Room and the conservatory. We went for the buffet brunch on Saturday and The place was filled, which was great to see, The food was a 10/10, fresh, flavoursome and to be honest a real surprise- when you think buffet you somehow lower expectations, however the food was FANTASTIC!!!The staff were attentive but not too much so, again they were also great. I live in London and would definitely come under the "foodie" category.Like most Londoners I tend to dine out on average 2/3 times a week wanting... trying to make my way through all these great restaurants we have here on our doorstep from street food to Fine Dining...I have to say that my brunch at Bombay Brasserie is in my top 3 for dining experiences!!! I would even be tempted to go back for brunch again today, one day on!!! Thank you BB for a great experience on what was a very special day for both myself and my Parents. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
m.
Went there for Sunday Brunch ...attended a celebration ...50th wedding anniversary of my elder sister and her husband...a lot guests attended ...informal setting for this particular gathering and the food was all laid out in various arrays salads, meat and vegetable based recipies alongside rice dishes ..and alongside indian sweets and ice cream (kulfi). You queued up and filled your plate according to which particular food type affected your taste buds. Well presented Indian food recipies from various corners of India...and the food was clean and tasty..Ate a bit too much ...it was difficult to control yourself....but Indian food tends to do that to me...it is very tasty...and Bombay Brasserie did not disappoint. We had a very lovely get together
F. L.
Very nice restaurant with great decor. Service was really good but food was quite slow in coming. Food was hit and miss. Some of the dishes were amazing but others were very average. I would recommend the Soft shell crab, Chicken Makhani main and Tandoori Roti.
V. S.
This is very near a tube station so not difficult to get to it is part of the Taj Group and serves Indian food. It has a nice bar so caters for anyone who just wants a drink. It also does private parties which is what I went for. On the whole good food and atmosphere
م. ب. س. آ. م.
Excellent food, and an excellent ambience in the restaurant. The ability to have old wooden interior or the more modern glass ceiling is an extra bonus, and lunch in a week day is a great get away opportunity in London.
G. M.
Excellent food. I was very impressed by the seafood. Particularly the crabs and by the super soft seabass. Service is also very good and the place is very elegant. Definitely a very different experience from the many other Indian restaurants.
A. M.
Brilliant food outstanding serviceTrue Mumbai taste. The chat section is to die for...great interiors. Huge variety. Situated in the heart of the city, u can not and should not miss eating here..
S. S.
Good food, good size portions, nice menu. Too quite a place if travelling with infants/toddlers. Need to maintain the decorum which sometimes can be tough with a toddler. It's perfect for business meetings and romantic outings!
M. S.
Food is delicious and service is good, can’t wait o go back for real Sunday brunch and not set menu.
S. M.
Delicious food, full of subtle, delicate, haunting flavours; delightful, attentive staff; attractive, spacious and airy: definitely one of the very best Indian restaurants in London, which has the added advantage of being only seconds from Gloucester Road tube.
D. T.
You can expect beautiful ambience and nice service in this fine-dining Indian restaurant. The food though could have been better.... Their glass-roof dining area with tropical plants hanging around looks really good.
B. M.
A very nice upscale Indian restaurant. Limited menu (compared to other Indian restaurants), but very good. Attentive and gracious staff. If you are looking for a classy Indian meal, this is the place.
A. B.
One of the best meals I’ve had. I will be back.
B. L.
Service and Food is absolutely superb .
Beautifully authentic and elegant decor .
Prices surprisingly reasonable
We hve travelled to India and there is no better fine Indian cuisine in three continents .
A. G.
Excellent service, great food and beautiful interiors. The menu is not particularly inventive, but it's well-executed. I'd recommend this place over some of the Michelin-starred restaurants in London, which often sacrifice execution for the sake of being "different"
m. a.
Great Indian restaurant with top quality food in a pleasant and smart ambiance. The staff were attentive and the service is excellent. Food served fresh and warm. Highly recommended.
T. W.
The food in this restaurant is second to none and I always eat here 3 times a year on special occasions as that is all I can afford.
The service has gone stale and is getting worse year by year. The staff are inattentive considering the price tag.
The best thing about the food here is that each dish has its own flavour and does not share the same spices combination of different dishes.
Highly recommended as long as you are looking for great food only.
K. P.
I went with family for the weekend buffet brunch/lunch. We all enjoyed it and there was plenty of choice for vegetarians, as you would expect! We sat in the conservatory which was really nice and bright. It was also a really hot day so it was a bit uncomfortable. I enjoyed the food, especially the starters. There was pani puri, sev puri, bhel puri and an aloo chat. From previous experience they normally always have this. The mains were ok nothing to rave about. In the desserts I liked the coconut and pistachio kulfis. Price wise it's 37 per person. With drinks we paid 50 each. It's not cheap but once in a while is fine. Although I would come back I would wait for over a year.
R. B.
Went for birthday brunch on Sunday. They take good care of you but when it comes to the most important bit, the food itself, it is not the best value. Still worth a visit. Have your coffee or masala tea in the nicely done up bar area after.
B. P.
Lovely ambience, great food and service. Buffet was pretty decent as got to try a variety of items tho desserts were a disappointing anticlimax. Wish they would improve desserts to same standard as rest of the menu!!! And also make proper masala chai...
N. A.
Unassuming place, with very friendly, unobtrusive staff. The food is outstanding. Probably the best Indian restaurant in London. Have eaten there more than 5 times in less than two weeks
p. s.
5/5 ... food , drinks , service all Good. I came to London for Holidays. All food items we ordered were perfect. Well served, no excess oil, enough quantity and Delicious in taste .
Fab treat to every Indian here .. :) Yummy for Tummy !!
S.
Fabulous atmosphere. Very attentive staff. Very high quality food. Not cheap, but you are in London and it's very high quality. You get what you pay for. It is five star and worth every penny.
N. D.
Lunch buffet at the weekend is amazing. If I was rating just this, then it would get 5 stars.
Evening meals are nice, but nothing special and expensive for what it is. Had better at my local Indian restaurant. The Tikka Makalani (sorry if I got this wrong ) is like chicken in heinz tomato soup. Very bland and very disappointing.
My advice is go to the Lunch buffet and you'll be more than happy with the food.
J. B.
Most beautiful restaurant with the loveliest of staff. Food was good though a little too spicy for some. This place makes an amazing venue for a wedding lunch
T. C.
Fantastic service and food, we picked our own taster meal and the food was amazing, the starters were amazingly tasty, the main courses were good sized portions and all distinctly different in their own perfect way. The food was just fantastic, looking forward to go again.
G. F.
Absolutely great staff, food and ambience. Loved it. I have to go back and work my way through their wonderful menu. I was a tad disappointed with my wine selection of the Napa Valley Merlot 2012 - bit too light for the subject matter :-)
A. C.
Good Indian food, owned by Tata's. Went with a friend who was craving for Indian food after spending few months away from India. He enjoyed the food. Costwise on a higher side. No regret going there.
S. K.
Went for celebrating a birthday. Great food and service. Prices are also not very high. They also gave a complementary dessert on the occasion of the birthday. Highly recommended.
K. P.
The very first time I went, and I was highly impressed
L. M.
Lovely staff. Warm and hospitable. We had the tasting menu. Excellent. Not a cheap place but a wonderful treat for a special occasion..
A. R.
Really amazing service and decoration in the restaurant but the food is extraordinarily expensive for Indian food, and I've definitely had better and paid much less for it. A little disappointing really, considering everything else was so nice.
C. J. A. C.
fantastic food and service - slightly bizarre (not quite right) cocktails from the bar tender though! but we were there for food and it was very very good especially the almond green pea cakes - WOW!
M. K.
Wonderful! Impeccable service and the food was amazing. The best Indian food I have ever had! Thank you Bombay Brassiere!
A. B.
Fine Indian dining experience. Make sure to try the cocktails before you get seated. Excellent service.
R. C.
Really good decor and layout, friendly service but the food is not worth the price.
I'm an Indian food chef with 20 years experience, I have traditional and fusion cooking experience but this is neither.
Very disappointed by the food quality
S. G.
Lovely place. Staff accommodating definitely recommend it
Y. P.
Fantastic food with ambience and service.
A. M.
Excellent experience at BB, we attended the brunch on Sunday with a party of 10, and the hosts on the day were very welcoming, and catered to our every need! It is a little more on the expensive side, but totally worth the price.
O. M.
Nice and spacious hall, testy, spicy, well served food and dessert, well chosen live piano music. Teas aren't on a sufficient level.
E. A.
Incredible food, lovely, calming atmosphere which is a delight with friends or on a date night. Staff were very friendly and helpful which made the experience even better
V.
Great bar, great ambience, food is good but room to improve. Very good choice if you'd are local, the most authentic Indian in the area. Upscale
V. S.
Beautiful restaurant. Food amazing and staff really friendly and attentive. Restaurant dining room and conservatory really beautiful. Just happened to be passing restaurant and d coded to give it a try - how lucky were we!!!!
D. M.
Very few restaurants can get you the authentic indian taste. This one is one of them. My favourite is baingan bharta and dal makhani here with garlic naan. Must try ..
P. G.
The Sunday Brunch buffet concept of being served did not work. The lamb and chicken dishes were not up to the usual high standard.
R. M.
Excellent Saturday brunch buffet, so many tempting delicious dishes to choose from, every dish is distinctly flavoursome, great décor, friendly courteous service, great cocktails, very well stocked bar, just wish would have been able to taste all the dishes!
N. A.
Very nice ambiance, very friendly service and great Indian food.Mango lassi is superb and all dishes non vegetarian and vegetarian come in genuine quantities. A must visit.
E. T.
Food was good but we are not used to Indian restaurant, so no reference point. However, the service was distant to say the least. Large wine selection, but expensive.
T. T.
The food on offer at BB is second to none! It has lost a little of its sparkle over the years though for genuinely great contemporary Indian food, this place is fantastic. The price is sometimes eye watering though worth it.
D. S.
Excellent Indian restaurant. Beautiful decor. Very clean and tidy. The food is delicious, well presented and very well served.
C. P.
Yummy Indian food, with an atmosphere of old traditional style. Beware, some dishes are quite spicy the way the locals like them.
A. S.
Great Ambience, fast service
S. S.
Had my birthday celebration at Bombay Brasserie. Great ambience and service, wonderful staff, delicious food. Will go back 😊
m. s.
Excellent service. Very good food. Highly recommended.

Stunning setting in an old school raj way. . Fantastic food and excellent drinks. Definitely worth a visit for a posh but relaxed Indian meal.
M. K.
Great Indian restaurant catered to allergies well
K. D.
Leaving this world without dinning at the Bombay Brasserie is like leaving this world without seeing Sun and Moon.
I have been dinning at the Bombay Brasserie since 1996 and every time it is a unique experience. When in London, I simply can't eat anywhere else
T.
Great experience! The food was yummy and the stuff was so friendly and helpful. Beautiful ambience and live piano music.
S. S.
Amazing experience 5*. Only thing the vegetable biriyani wasn't great according to my taste buds. Otherwise everything else was amazing👌
A. C.
I love this restaurant. Whenever I have a special occasion, this is always my first choice - the place is classy, a bit expensive but definitely worth it, with delicious food and modestly friendly staff.
A. G.
This rating is for Veggie food. Not sure abt non-veg. I don't like the taste. But the spinach starter was very good.
R. P.
I normally do no eat Indian food and I was dragged here by a friend. Loved it! Now I am a true India food fan. Great dishes.
A. L.
Food was delicious, service impeccable, just a bit on the pricey side. A lovely environment for a special occasion.
J. A.
Food and service both were excellent, the service especially was exceptional. I would highly recommend Bombay Brasserie for their brunch on a weekend.
S. P.
Amazing and authentic Indian food!

By far the best Indian food in London (along with Roti chai and Dishoom). I would seriously recommend this to anyone who wants to have authentic Indian food.
H. P.
Given it operates under Taj brand, part of the Tata Group, the food quality and service was below average. No desire to go back to this restaurant.
R. W.
Food is First Class. The Manager Shailesh ,his Staff and the Chef
are a Credit to the Bombay Brasserie and the Taj Group
Excellent Restaurant,Spacious and Elegant Decor
A. G.
Good Indian food unlike most so called Indian restaurants in London. Buffet brunch could be better
B. K.
I have eaten at the Bombay Brasserie for about ten years now and enjoy it especially because I know what to expect: the best Indian dishes time and again.
H. A.
Great ambience , Brilliant food and service . Ask for the speciality as they are truly special
And end it with their Cobra coffee :)
D. A.
Fine Indian cuisine at its best. Beautiful setting great service and above all amazing curry. Try the Nalli Roganjosh.
P. L.
Now that was a tasty curry! Each dish unique, quantities just right, flavours amazing. What a treat.
B. C.
top notch cuisine, great setting, nice vibe. small but excellent selection of starters, mains and desserts.
A. E.
Good food, but pretty expensive and formal for my tastes. You're paying for the interior and service, not the food, which although good is not exceptional.
S. M.
Great lunch, very modern venue. This was my fist visit here and the food and the service was professional. Definitely recommend visiting.
B.
Food was pretty good but honestly I sort of struggled to understand what made it so expensive, it seemed good but not outstanding, the theme was done very well but I cant help but dock a point as I struggle to justify how they can charge so much for what they offer.
S. S.
This is a really beautiful venue and the food is top notch. Parking is within close proximity.
J. S.
Beautiful place, excellent food n display, and t assistance was very warm n cordial. Happy to visit.
K. S.
Nice Indian food with classy and modern-authentic decor. A bit pricey.

I like this hotel... Because I'm indian

Really smart place with excellent service. There is no undenying the quality of the cuisine here either. However, personally, I found the menu limited and quite inflexible for an Indian Restaurant. It was a good meal but given the price hike over a traditional "curry house" I came away questioning the value proposition of Bombay Brasserie and concluded it was slightly pretentious.
In summary, if a sense of occasion and ambiance are a priority, you won't be disappointed. But if you're looking for the best curry in town, look elsewhere.

This place had really good service, gorgeous setting- lovely big chandeliers and very good food. I wasn't a fan of the almond halwa and don't think saffron rice worked very well with the Indian food but, otherwise, was lovely.

Beatiful restaurant, spaciuous and elegantly decorated. The food is excellent and surprisingly, not very spicy.
The service is superb, the wine, beer and drinks selection is spectacular. All in all a very nice experience.
