Reviews of Bonfire
J. F.
Beautiful American-style restaurant with a gorgeous outdoor patio overlooking the barbican plaza. The milkshakes were very traditional, refreshing and creamy but not overly thick. The beef brisket croquette was absolutely perfect with the garlic aioli. Both burgers were slightly underwhelming, with the buns being dry and stale and lacking a distinctive flavor. The salad was refreshing, but also needed a bit more personality to make it stand out.

Usually tend to go post theatre/ gallery for dinner if ever at the Barbican Centre. They need more choice at the Barbican to be honest. Service is alright but could be better in terms of pace. It’s a rustic lovely restaurant with American vibes which sells burgers and chips mostly. Wine is decent. Best to buy the wine bottle if more than one as glasses work out a bit more expensive. It’s nice in the summer out in the terrace. You also get membership discount if you are a member.

Went in for an early lunch, weather was amazing so of course I sat on the terrace. Staff where all very friendly and the view is incredible. Burger tasted good but was very firm, this meant the bun gave up the ghost and I ended up eating with a knife and fork. Overall pretty good and not insane price, but would like the option of how I would like my burger cooked.

Interesting burger place right inside the Barbican. Very convenient if you've got plans to see something there. Staff was really friendly and drinks were good. Burgers were good, but we ordered them with different ingredients inside and the waiter couldn't tell us which one was what. I would expect the burgers to come with (at least some) fries... Most places do that, right? Outside area was closed because it was raining, but friends have a great time there.

Burger was OK, service was OK, the desert was awful... Very convenient if you're off to a show at the Barbican but otherwise head elsewhere.

The burger selection is great and the service is fab! Thanks team - so good to see this place has remained open post Covid! Also, my mate (northern) had a craving for a pot of gravy for his chips which was a pre - Covid offering and the staff were able to accommodate even though it was off menu! Made my mate’s day!

Food, staff and service is amazing. I had the jalapeño burger and it was one of the best I've had.
My grandaughter left her precious toy there and they went above and beyond to track it down after we left and are keeping it safe till we return for it.

Tasty good, generous portions - will come back

Tasty, casual fare. The Virgin mojito cocktail was a hit!

Nice burger restaurant on the first floor of Barbican centre. Friendly staff and modern interiors. The views to Barbican lake are excellent. Regarding food and prices, it is on average scoring. Good for a quick lunch or diner pre or after your day's performance of excibition visit.
M. G.
Really good restaurant, remarkable burger this place is really good especially if you are going to the theatre.

Once you find it, it is a great little place. We stumbled upon it by accident. Fresh and friendly, I have paid a lot more money for a lot lesser quality, well presented, as well as tasty.

Surprisingly nice place
Located inside the barbican with a terrace
The food is ok (not bad not good)
Tried the nachos
The service is ok
Perfect to wait before a show

Visited the place on two occasions. The food is all right for what it is, burgers and fries - you shouldn't really be able to mess that up. Decent drinks, decent service; apply your City discount if you have it, it makes a difference.
The staff members should be trained to not start talking in their mother tongue as soon as they leave the customer's table as that can make people feel a bit uncomfortable. If it rains, the outdoor area is closed. You also cannot have parties larger than 5 outside due to the Barbican residents' possible complaints.

A great place to go for burger! It's my second time visiting this place and is definitely a great choice for post Cinema option in Barbican.
The food looks good and it's tasty. Really good burger patties and good quality meat. The only thing I would change though is that the burger is not coming with fries.
Last time I visited my fries didn't meet my expectations so I spoke to the staff. They understood my complain and they offered me great customer service. Oualid served us and was more than happy to deal with my complain.

First and foremost, the food was really good, I had the chickpea based burger and my friend had the halloumi one. Both were excellent, top notch, as were the sweet potato chips, just the right amount of seasoning.
The service was really friendly and prompt, special regards to Oualid and also the others who's names I did not get.
General ambience was pleasant and background noise level surprisingly quiet, the tables are not crammed together.
Value, considering the location, was also pretty reasonable, we had a pint of good pale ale each, the burgers, fries and one side of slaw, then a nice pineapple and ice-cream dessert each. The bill was around £57 all up.
Overall a very good experience.

Good spot if you like burgers. Despite being very busy, the staff was jolly and entertaining. The lady manager was great, running around from a table to another, trying to keep everyone happy. The cheeseburger I had was well cooked and presented and the red tempranillo wine was great.
J. M.
4 stars and its because of the staff. They're good, friendly, polite, efficient - really liked them.
I just went for the burger. It was nice, the meat was good. Apparently they don't do medium, only well done. Secondly too much sauces there which makes the burger soggy. Third the buns meh also buns were cold at arrival.
All in all its a nice place, good enough if you're gonna see a play and have little time. Decor is good, staff is perfect, but far from my perfect burguer experience.
Obviously it's only my point of view so you'll probably have a better experience food wise.
J.
Excellent service. Place felt a bit like a canteen. Cajun fries excellent. Although burgers contained good quality beef they were too hard pressed. Would try Ching wing next time. They were proper buffalo wings and looked very meaty.
P. K.
Amazing place if you are a burger lover, good management and stuff that delivers the best, reasonable prices and good atmosphere.
Highly recommended!
M. A.
We went there as a group of about 20 people. The service was great considering the amount of people they had to cope with. The burgers were good, no complaints from anyone in the group. Cajun fries were a nice touch too.
M. K.
Very nice tasty Shakespeare tower burger, delicious , good service but unfortunately only beefeater gin!

Love this hidden gem, after only discovering Bonfire 2 weeks ago I can not recommend the experience enough. The food is simple, clean and tasty and the quality is superb. Sitting outside on the beautiful, sunny Barbican terrace is a wonderful experience in the heart of the city.
The staff are just gorgeous and even when busy can’t do enough for you.
I am a huge fan and will be returning often.
Thank you
J. L.
Once you have navigated your way through the barbican centre to find the restaurant you are greeted by some friendly staff, lots of space and some very colourful menus. The food here is very nice and the menu is varied to cater for most people's tastes. You should definitely book to make sure you get a table as this place can get busy before a show or event.

Half filled milkshake and a spicy burger that wasn't that spicy. However, what was there of my Peanut Butter Ice Cream and Strawberry milkshake was delicious - just wish there was! And at £4.95 I think there should be. The 6oz Spicy Pig Burger was well cooked too. Just a few tweaks here and there and Bonfire would be a place to eat other than just because you're spending an evening at the Barbican Centre. Nice place, nice atmosphere.
Unfortunately, I ordered the nachos.
Never in my life have I experienced such poor and minimal effort gone into restaurant nachos.
No cheese. No sour cream. No guacamole.
Just some cardboard-textured tortilla chips served with a mean portion of salsa, which ran out about a quarter of the way through the nachos anyway.
At least the milkshake I ordered (Chocolate Fudge PBJ) was up to standard. Honestly delicious.

Always enjoyed this venue for a pre theatre drink and a snack and sometimes a meal. Staff always friendly and attentive and an uncomplicated menu that is perfectly done. Never had a problem with service but then I know not to get to a pre theatre restaurant 30 mins before curtain up. And it has a delightful balcony when the weather allows.

Today was the 5th time I visited this place prior to a show at the Barbican. The service was again very good and the burger was again good quality. I was again amazed by the young lady that I have always seen there as she had a great smile, good attitude and yet another outfit as my previous 4 visits :)
T. R.
Nice food at a reasonable price although milkshakes were quite small and thin-textured for London standards! Great decor and views, comfortable seats. Attentive staff although at 12pm on a Sunday we were the only ones there!

Me and my friend popped in for a quick lunch on my birthday and I couldn't have been happier with my experience. The food was lovely and we had quick service. The waiter was very kind and brought out a slice of cake and a card from all the staff when they found out it was my birthday. Thank you all again!
A. B.
We visited Bonfire yesterday for lunch before our daughter’s graduation . The staff were really helpful and served us well even though they were rushed off their feet. Food was amazing and we even had a 15% student discount . Would definitely go again if I’m the area .
M. R.
Cons, Very limited vegetarian menu. Chairs uncomfortable. Toilets stinking with dirty urine soaked floor.
Neutrals, Food served on boards not plates. Music playing fairly loud. Trendy type of place.
Pros, Prices reasonable, good selection of bottled beer and party style milkshakes. Friendly staff. Plenty of family sized tables.
I. L.
I really like their vegan beetroot burger, full of flavours, today was particularly spicy.
They have a great terrace overlooking the lake at the Barbican.
F. A.
Nice place, too bad the terrace was closed. tried the chicken burger and were tasty and good priced.
It would have been better if they included chips in the serving instead of having them as side.
O. D.
Good burgers, amazing staff. Mimi and Ellen are amazing, they can make your day. Also, the terrace is a great spot on a sunny day.
A. M.
Nice place to get away from the madness of the city. We were a party of 8 and all had burgers which were nice enough but not special. One of the orders was messed up twice. For the price we paid I would expect chips to be included.
S. R.
Came here after a tour of the center. Very happy with the quality of the meal and service. Cool place to dine in as well. Definitely coming back for more.
P. B.
Great food and they served our group of 10-12 brilliantly. The venue was comfortable with the option of eating outside overlooking the lake area. Definitely a move in the right direction for this new management.
J. S.
Great burger joint. And the cheesy chips 😵 too too too good. They also have a good kids menu - our little man was kept happy!
D. K.
Very nice vegan options for the burgers, recommend the beetroot! Nachos also great to you can do cheese.
O. B.
Burgers, milkshakes, and chicken at a reasonable price in the beautiful surrounds of the Barbican. Authentic original coffered ceilings, doors and bathroom fixtures.
D. B.
The half chicken was simply amazing. Came here for a quick work lunch catch up and will be back soon with the wife for date night. Highly recommended.
N. S.
Good burgers and service. Prices are a little high but location overlooking the Barbican is great.
J. L.
Good burger, great fries
E. L.
One of the best burgers in London!
R. H.
Terrific burgers and sweet potato fries, shame the beer selection was limited with no IPA or bitter
C. V.
The staff are friendly and helpful and you could get very good tasty hamburger.
F.
Great burgers and chicken at a good price for the City. Service was quick and waiting staff friendly.
H. D.
Friendly service but food can be hit or miss. Toilets need to be updated as they are scruffy, although clean.
J. H.
Excellent place for burgers and groups in the heart of the Barbican. Fast and friendly service.
S. O.
Lovely and helpful staff and very tasty burgers. Look forward to a return visit!
L. D.
Great location, staff friendly and burgers are pretty good specialy the halloumi one.
O. H.
Great balcony to have a drink and some lunch. Service was good and the food matched.
P. R.
Just OK, not great. Best is the space itself. The Barbican needs better eateries on site...
M. D.
Handy for eating at the Barbican. Good food like burgers and chicken. Good craft beer selection.
A.
A pleasant location, spot on service, and must be one of the top cheeseburgers in the city.
P. M.
Good and varied food selection. The tables and windows were quite disgusting though.
S. P.
Had the vegan burger, very nice food.
L. W.
Food was okay, got my order wrong and chips were a bit undercooked.
E. C.
Nice for cocktails but music can be a bit loud for a quiet catch-up with friends
M. M.
Hmmm nice food, slowish service for a pre-theatre restaurant.
T. M.
Quite empty which is good for a chat, careful of the service charge when you go up and get the beer yourself 🤷
P. P.
Lovely smiley staff, great drinks, especially milkshakes!
S. B.
It's grand if limited. Good for a quick bite before a show.
L. M.
Great food, lovely atmosphere, will definitely be back.

(Translated) Fabulous place, too bad that the terrace was closed during the week. The staff is nice and the burgers are good, I would only improve the excess fat absorbed by the bread during the heating on the plate. 4 stars only because the staff is very nice and helpful
(Original)
