Reviews of Bread Street Kitchen & Bar - Southwark

Best wellington I ever had with an awesome desert and not to forget it is from the one and only Gordon Ramsey.
The only shame was that we specifically asked the staff if the wellington was £49 one person or for two. They clearly mentioned for two so we assumed that was going to be our price only to see a £98 charge for the wellington on our bill.
A bit sad because we might have still considered it for that price but it kind of felt like we were scammed. If this would not have happened we would rate it a big fat 5 stars. Simply because the food was indeed amazing and well... Gordon Ramsey is quiet the living legend 😎

Myself and my partner had our anniversary meal at the Bread Street Kitchen and it is a 10 out of 10 for the both of us! Our meals was great and service was very professional. Me and my partner was welcomed to a glass of prosecco each on the house and they even made us a surprise dessert to celebrate as shown below! We would also like to show our appreciation to two particular staff members who served us. Christian and Robyn! They provided great hospitality and were extremely friendly and very professional! Me and my partner will definitely be returning in the near future.
S. J.
The service was great and the team was very warm welcoming as always
The food was very nice as always, to a good high standard. Quality and taste are kept high and same.
Being in Ramsey’s restaurants few times, the dishes are great but just need a bit of wow I think.
R. B.
Expensive with very slow service. Duck starter was very tough. The sea bream on a bed of leeks for my main was very tasty so top marks for that, and the three cheeses on the cheese board for dessert were uninspired – I had expected something at least a _little_ bit above the ordinary of cheddar, stilton and a goat's milk cheese for £14+ (inc. tip).

If you want a private party but also want the vibe of a busy well know restaurant, then booking the mezzanine table will do the trick nicely. Our waitress was super attentive and ensured each course was delivered at just the right time, and made sure no glasses were empty. Good job BSK 👏👏👏

We love this place. Been here for couple times and always had a very good experience. Food is tasty and service is very professional. We tried steak and lasagna. Both were very tasty.
Prices are good too. Very reasonable.
They surprised me with a birthday dessert once which was very nice. The staff is very friendly and smiley all the time! Ioanela is our favourite. She spoils us all the time. She is great. Thanks to everyone for their great hospitality.
M. P.
Great place with delicious food but my expectations were higher. Fine selection of drinks including cocktails, wine and craft beer. Delicious food (I loved fish) and good service.
I. H.
We paid a visit early Saturday evening expecting the super high standards that you see Gordon demand in his shows. Firstly the customer service provided was on point as we actually arrived at the wrong restaurant, so the restaurant manager switched our reservation and sat us down with minimal fuss. I had the spicy tuna starter which was not very spicy and the chicken curry which was Bland. My girlfriend had a fish main which looked and tasted lovely. I went to the toilet and on my return I had the bill sat waiting for me. That was a real shame as the night was young and we fancied a couple of cocktails. I did express my annoyance with the manager who apologises and offered a glass of prossecco. We didn't take the offer but did appreciate it. An OK visit which lacked the wow factor.
A. P.
We had a meal purchased for us at this lovely restaurant via buy a gift and we where very thankful for the gift. Interesting surroundings beautiful food lovely wine followed up by brilliant and knowledgeable staff. We will definitely be back next time we are in London

Expected exceptional food from a restaurant named after Chef Ramsay, however the food was not disappointing neither was it upto mark for the prices. All in all it was a good experience!
C. B.
Really lovely food and atmosphere!! I have to say for me the shining light was Robyn (our waitress) really friendly, knowledgeable and went over and above to make our anniversary very special. All the waiters / waitresses were fantastic . THANK YOU!! Really recommend going to The Bread Street kitchen for a special occasion or just because you want a nice treat. Best customer service I’ve had in the UK!

OMG...what a wonderful evening this was at Bread street kitchen. Totally amazing Beef Wellington experience, with starters and desserts to match the quality of the main course. Staff were attentive, professional and a credit to Gordon Ramsay. Would totally recommend.
D. M.
My partner was super excited to try the so famous Beef Wellington.
I prefer vegetarian dishes, but as he was so eager to try it out, and the price seemed reasonable, we gave it a go.
It was unclear on the menu if the price was for one or two people.
We made sure to ask, and the waitress said that it was 49£ for 2 people.
Therefore we assumed that we would only pay 49£. Right?
When we got the bill we noticed that the 49 was charged twice e.k.a 98£ in total.
That ruined the experience for us.
If I knew that it would have been this price I'd have eaten a vegetarian dish instead as I don't think that the price was worth the meal. At least for me.
We asked the waitress about it and she said that many other people were also confused with the menu.
We made sure to ask her in advance and I hoped she had made it clearer that was 49£x2
Specially when so many other people had the same doubt.
We got there excited as Gordon's Ramsay's fan and left disappointed with the feeling that we were scammed.

Amazing food, their beef wellington is just wow... "literally melts in my mouth"
My friend ate a Sunday roast and said that was the best ever.
O. D.
Unfortunately, no pictures to show as we were keen to eat the food ASAP.
Service was prompt and efficient. Food was amazing and perfectly cooked. The fish & chips and the steak are definitely recommended. Warm bread basket was also lovely as a side.
We were also given our drinks for free due to a "delay" with food (We didn't find any issue with how long the food took). Very attentive and would 100% return.
A. H.
Flat fee all you can eat pizza hangout. They had some great Vege pizza slices. Very filling! Nice place to chill, nice vibe. Toilets were smart and clean. Yeah a great place to be.
A. C.
Great place and service. For the beef wellington we expected more. The liver pate was very strong and because of this, we didn't feel the beef flavour, that is the most important part of the recipe. But very well prepared and served.
A. B.
Awesome food and amazing service. We were greeted by a welcoming host who took our coats and made us feel very comfortable from the start. It was expensive to eat here, but the food was exceptional. We had four courses and they were paired with the wine. The waiter was really passionate about wines and told us everything about the wines and why it was a perfect match for the food we were being served. The atmosphere of the place was relaxed and would be a nice setting for a date or a business meeting. One of the nicest meals ever.
A. T.
Went there last minute as we were around the area. We didn’t make a reservation was grateful that they managed to get us a table for 6. Our food were good, from risotto, pasta to fish. I had the courgette - yummy! But we love the desserts especially Baba & Pannacotta. Simply delicious.

Visited here for the first time to try the Beef Wellington together with my wife.
After seeing the posts on Instagram from Gordon Ramsey himself, I knew I had to try this dish.
It certainly lived up to its expectation. The taste and quality was amazing, with friendly and helpful staff too.
Ionela, our waitress was especially lovely and made the evening even more pleasant for us.
Highly recommended!

Very mixed feelings. Cocktails and starters (tuna tartare & stracciatella) were good, but the mains (burger and chicken curry) were below average for London standard, not to mention Gordon's standard. Def not worth the price tag. Service was polite but very slow, so was the kitchen. We were there on a quiet night — only 6 other customers in the entire restaurant — and we had to wait ages for our food to arrive. Missing the Union Street crew, food and service.
N. M.
Tasty food and attentive staff. Food was served in good time and potion sizes were filling.
K. C.
Excellent food, mostly good service, but shocking bathrooms. In fairness, we visited on a Saturday night which probably contributed to how messy they were. The ladies stalls were dark (I had to rely on my phone's torch to see), and the toilets and floor looked dirty. All-in-all a wonderful visit, but was surprised at the lack of attention paid to bathroom cleanliness.
A. H.
Nice place and fantastic food. 15% service charge is a bit steep for the UK. I honestly felt the service was below average, we were ignored and had to keep asking for the wine list.
B. L. W.
I photographed a wedding reception at Union Street Cafe recently and would highly recommend it. Beautiful, stylish interiors, professional and attentive staff and most importantly the food! It was absolutely delicious from starters to desserts. Will definitely visit again with the family for more culinary delight!

I expected more I guess.
The food looked and tasted good bjt but expected it to attempt to blow my mind. Went for lunch, it wad quiet. The service was good. The decor is simple and nice except for an odd disco ball hanging very randomly...
Good wine list.
Ordered glazed aubergine which turned out be very spicy (no warning a that one menu) luckily i can handle and enjoy my spicy food. Nevertheless, it got too overpowering and I didnt finish the whole thing in the end.
My companion ordered a burger and said it was ok but nothing special.

Loved the beef Wellington. It could have served 4. Apps were delicious. Favorite was the wings and a cold beef with mustard. Tuna tartare was room temp which is not my preference. Desserts were also wonderful. Would return.

Arrived for lunch in the week. Surprisingly the restaurant was nearly empty, which made it possible to hold a conversation without shouting. Great!
Friendly staff. We were served by a lady called Robbie/Robin. She was very informative, eager to serve and cater to our needs whilst keeping the service in measure so as not to be overbearing. Another plus.
The food was lovely, well prepared and full of strong and subtle flavours. Service was quick which explains why this restaurant caters to lunch foods. Either way to me, it was great food.
I highly recommend giving this restaurant a go. Service was great, food was fantastic and the cocktails were delicious!

Can't fault food (well not too much, there was only one roast option on the Sunday we visited, but it was very good - as was the cod)
But the service was no better than a Beefeater if honest - and it wasn't very busy, just not attentive
In no rush to revisit when other GR franchises give a better experience
A. B.
Great cocktails, the bartender went out his way to prepare a classic that was not listed
N. P.
The main reason we chose to ate here was because of the kids eat free offer. However this is far from a kid-friendly restaurant and I can't really understand why they are chasing the family market. It's a swanky restaurant, and I'm not sure the groups of lads and girls on a night out will have appreciated our kids and baby wandering between the tables. It feels like BSK need to just choose one market or the other. The food was fine but not great, and the menu was uninspiring. Drinks are extremely pricey. We probably wouldn't come again, even without kids.

Overall, our visit here was very good. My only constructive criticism is that the lamb that I wanted was not available. The service was excellent and very personalized. The quality of the food was excellent. The ambiance of the restaurant was just right.

First time in this place ..and I already love it!!Great location ,lovely atmosphere and amazing staff(so friendly and nice)...and the food...well the food was unbelievable ..all this flavours and contrasts in a simple dish cooked to perfection !!!!Can't wait to come back again
J. G.
Nice place with a lot of room between tables. Good Italian food however overpriced. Some excellent wines.
R. F.
I've enjoyed two meals here and a master class cocktail lesson. It's always a pleasure to drop in, even if just for a splendid drink—and the waiter downstairs even remembered my wife and I on the second visit. The food is always good (in terms of selection and flavour) and the service personable and excellent. It's a special dinning experience.
J. D.
Bloody love it here. I have been eating here for almost 2 years and in that time I have always had consistently exceptional customer service.
The majority of the staff are still the same which in itself says A LOT.
The food is great and the waiters are always great at recommending dishes if you can't decide.
Can't recommend enough!
L. O.
Me and my freind was the Bread kitchen last the food was amazing the staff was fab and atmosphere was great there made you felling welcoming
G. S.
Thank you for the wonderful hospitality shown to our team yesterday evening. First class service and the food was outstanding. A fantastic night out!!
H. H.
Brown leather and urban chique. Attentive waiting staff. Food was good, delicious : was last here a few years ago and nothing much changed. Pricey but nothing unexpected. Nice bar downstairs, extensive wine list and good cocktails.
H. H.
I had the best (no doubt) anniversary with my husband Joe in this Italian restaurant on August 28,2019! We didn’t expect to be there but surprisingly be invited into the kitchen and bar, experienced as part of the chef team and bar team! Thank you all staff from Union Street Cafe! You were like my family! Thank you everyone for all the life-record memory!
We will definitely visit again!
T. K.
Just had a lovely lunch here today, with hubby and my 9 year old. Food was delicious. The seafood pasta, though was too salty but they changed it instantly, no fuss. We really enjoyed ourselves. Service was absolutely excellent. I will definitely return. They were extra nice to my son and gave him a free Brownie and Panettone to take home. He also got to see the kitchen and meet the Head Chef. He's already asking to go back. Thank you Marco and the wonderful staff!

My expectations of Gordon Ramsay restaurant were high. The food I got was ok, asked for a steak medium rare but was quite rare.
F. S.
Absolutely fantastic experience!
Food was simply amazing, I really reccomend the beef Wellington.
Drinks: well done to the bartender, properly done!
Service was simply amazing and really big Thanks to Robin which made our day!
Will definetely come back!

Here is a long overdue review of my visit. Went there about two weeks ago for birthday dinner with a friend. I arrived early so the host suggested a drink at the bar - very glad I took his suggestion.
Met two awesome bartenders there, Dario and Davide, who are both professionals and very hospitable. They made killer cocktails (that's a given) and we had some great conversation about classic cocktails. They even gave me suggestions for other venues they like in London which I really appreciate. Both are chilled and fun guys to talk to, I would totally go back there, maybe with a date!
Btw, food is delicious.
D. P.
Down from Bath with the kids for a few days and ate here last night - outstanding from start to finish! Staff & service were superb. Robyn looked after us really well. We'll be back :)
s. h. s.
Really amazing meal at the revamped bread st kitchen tonight! We were very well looked after by our amazingly passionate waiter - Florian.
Mario & the team were also amazing, every detail was on point and the food was extremely tasty. Who knew the downstairs had free to use darts/foosball tables etc!
J. S.
We came yesterday and Carlo was our host! Perfect gentlemen! Excellent service and brilliant food! Would recommend this for any occasion, casual lunch, office functions, birthday parties and hen parties!
Thanks again!
A. R.
Union Street has a old school decor but doesn't come across as striking. Good perhaps for conversations where you don't need the decor to be distracting.
Food was excellent. I wanted chicken and despite not being on the menu, the chef obliged and didn't disappoint. My guest was equally happy with the ox head.
Tiramisu was standard fare, nothing to complain. Service was reasonably quick call too.
O. R.
Quality of service was brilliant.
Pizza keeps coming and doesn't stop, hats off to the chef
G. F.
If Gordon Ramsay's restaurants feel too formal for you, the laid-back attitude of Union Street Cafe might be for you. It has the vibe of an Italian trattoria, with seasonal produce from Borough Market down the road.
Dishes are unpretentious, light and satisfying. But don't let that fool you into thinking they are without craft. Each element is picked over and plated exceptionally. Staff are very friendly and happy to advise. The kitchen staff were some of the happiest I've ever met. Really good value for money and I recommend it pre-theatre or for a fun night out.
I. S.
A fun and vibrant place with excellent food, took my mom there on a Friday night. The menu changes every day. I recommend the Tagliolini - surprising home made pasta with pork chunks and pea sauce - excellent dish. Highlight of the meal was no doubt the Panna Cotta - a combination of tradition and creativity. Great place for a night out. Be aware it can get loud. Enjoy!
A. B.
Great cocktails, the bartender went out his way to prepare a classic that was not listed
G.
Great place with good food. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Bit pricey but like all restaurants on this level so not overpriced. Will come back.
L. S.
Excellent, great service, loved the baked cod and grilled sweet and sour cabbage..
L. M.
Excellent food and service made even more special in the private dining room.
P. Z.
Eating at one of Chef Gordon Ramsey's restaurants was a real treat, and all high expectations were met. Exceptionally tasting food with delicate presentation. Attention to every detail was felt. Environment and decor also filled with character. Overall wonderful experience.
D. k.
Fish and chip was crispy. It is the restaurant to taste UK style food near the bankside.
T. L.
I popped in for lunch with my partner before Christmas. We had a lovely lunch. The menu is wonderful and the dishes thoughtfully constructed with great ingredients. I loved it so much that I wrote a feature for my blog. We ordered vegetarian dishes including pasta and the tiramisu which was fantastic. The interiors are very nice. I'd definitely go back again. It's a bit expensive but worth it.
I. A.
Not brilliant this time, had to send beef wellington back as pastry raw, second a little tough and Mac and cheese dry couldn't eat it
I. H.
Hip and trendy. But backed up by good service and food. Plus 5min from tube station and opposite a pub.
J. Y.
Definitely worth a detour just to eat here
Had the Wellington
It's crazy how they managed to make the beef feels as soft as sashimi tuna, everything on the dish was so flavourful it's overwhelming if you didn't order a side to go with it. The cream they used for the creamy spinach is top notch. And then there's the dessert, which is simply PERFECT.
Starter - Baccala
Main - Wellington
Dessert - Torta

Lovely experience with extra bonus of Kitchen tour.
The restaurant atmosphere was on point. With a modern and unfinished architecture and with a olive tree inside was the picture perfect.
We booked a table for 2 and get the 3 courses plus italian sangria on arrival.
The food was delicious from the antipasti, secondi and dolci. I had the watermelon granita that unfortunately didn't convince me but the carrot, nuts and chocolate cake was delicious.
For antipasti I definitely recommend the poached Italian eggs.
I had the risotto but I definitely recommend the pork rib eye, absolutely out of this world.
The white wine was very good as well.
In the end we were invited to have a kitchen tour which we accepted. We were guided through it and welcomed from everyone.
We try the gnocchi and the liquorice homemade ice cream. Superb.
We're gonna definitely come back to try the rest of the menu.
Staff was outstanding too.
K. M.
Great food, great service, great drinks, great atmosphere. Gordon has it down to a science...

Not often you come away from a restaurant that serves you the wrong food and still give it 5 stars. Excellent quality food. Excellent service. We ordered pork but were served chicken. I tasted it and it was superb so despite the waiter being so apologetic we decided to stay with it. Glad we did. Offered, and accepted, a glass of prosecco as an apology and reduced the bill. Well done all.
K. P.
Impeccable and fast service. Upbeat and hip atmosphere and vibe. The food was delicious and fancy, and portion size was good enough to feel full but not disgusting. Saved space for dessert!
H. M.
Very good food, great service with attentive helpful staff. Menu is well balanced and refreshed often. Good cocktails, can recommend the old fashioned!
S. O.
Had an amazing evening, great dinner for my love's birthday. The staff were the best part. The food was a good as expected.
J. T.
A really first class meal as always in a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. The staff were attentive, friendly and very professional especially Robyn. A great experience.
P. G. S.
Good pub for chatting.
Good selection of beers. Staff was friendly
p.
Good Italian food, surprisingly good food and service but a bit creative Italian spin menu.
S. K.
We booked a table 2 months ago with high expectation and it doesn't fail us.
The food sreved is so fresh and delicious ( I ordered the seabass). Waiter/waitress here are very friendly and professtional. The tiramisu is a must try here. We ordered 3 kind of desserts and number 1 is the tiramisu. Definitely will visit again. Cheers!
D. R.
Amazing food, very nice staff. Being first ones to eat in after reopening following covid restrictions we received a drink on house. Definitely will be returning.
j. r.
Service good and staff very polite. Set menu was ok but nothing to shout about. Ambiance was nice with funky music.
R. T.
Absolutely fabulous food. Excellent service.

I have been here a few times now and I love the way the menu changes with the season. Every dish I have had has been amazing, it doesn't seem to matter what you order the food is always great. Usually the sommelier is also very good, we were a little let down on this aspect on the recent visit as he didn't seem to know a great deal about the wines and wasn't very forthcoming with recommendations (but this is normally very good so he may have just been new) saying that the staff in the olive grove bar downstairs, where we had a welcome cocktail, were amazing. This is such a great restaurant and the price point is spot on.
L. O.
We visited this restaurant earlier this month with a friend and had an amazing experience. Reception was very welcoming with a big smile. The service was super friendly they were keep checking on us.. it felt like we are at home. The food was delicious you can tell it’s all homemade and fresh. I had the best Tiramisu in this place. If you like Italian food and you would like to have a great night I can highly recommend Union Street Cafe.
J. A.
Went in as I liked the look of the menu outside but they said they were only serving at 5 and it was4.30 so would I like to sit at the bar. I ordered a coffee and sat in the empty restaurant for half an hour and when I asked if I could sit down at one of the empty tables as it’s now 5pm they asked me 3 times if I’d made a reservation and seemed shocked I was even there. I feel really special now. Eventually they seat me and don’t even hand me a menu...I have to ask for one. Then say they’re not doing the proper menu till 6. All I wanted was pasta but the only pasta they were doing before 6 was £39. Forget it! I paid for my coffee and left. Terrible service. Snooty staff they forget you immediately...unless you’re a man wearing a suit.
C. E.
Amazing pizza great atmosphere, definitely worth going
J. G.
A really nice venue split over two floors. Owned by Ford and Ramsey it has three separate areas, including a private garden area "Olive Grove" in the basement.
The drinks menu is impressive and boast twists on Italian classics such as negroni and aperol spritz. The bar tender is also happy to make drinks off menu as well.
I went for an evening to showcase the restaurant. The chocolate truffles were delicious and they also have nice bar snacks such as olives and salami. They are also flexible in relation to dietary requirements such as vegetarian / vegan.
S. k.
Can't fault. The food is tasty and offers different flavours from what you might expect. Drinks at the Olive Garden downstairs prior to our meal was like a Mediterranean holiday. Staff are polite, friendly, attentive. Service was a little slow at times as one of our orders didn't get through, but we didn't mind. Went with our 6 and 8 year olds and they enjoyed their kids meals which were free.
G. S.
Very good! The big ravioli and the tiramisu were especially good. Good selection and quality wine. The ambience is elegant but makes you feel comfortable at the same time.
V. B.
Nice industrial style bistro, and yet cozy and warm. Food was nice, presentation can get better.
Service is good, could get a little bit more attention to details (asked for bread and butter and I got a spoon to eat...). In general the place has a good potential, can be improved and become a glamorous place to be.
M. A.
The food was excellent, every dish was perfect. The service was faultless, and the tables weren't closely placed, which meant a much nicer experience :)
C. C.
Lamb leg with salsa verde, roasted peppers and olives.7/10. £16 with the Government's offer; would I have paid full price? The lamb melts in your mouth, but no, probably not. The risotto is also very good, and the decor and staff are very pleasant. The wine list is alright.
S. M.
It was a pleasant experience at the restaurant. We were served very well and the ambience was great as well.
E. M.
We wanted to review this because we had a great time, but it must be noted that our experience might be atypical. We attended a Cocktail Masterclass bought for me as a gift, and had a great time. We did not eat. We sat downstairs in the bar, a floral affair feeling like an Italian courtyard despite being in London and indoors. At the bar we were made a succession of cocktails by Marco, the fellow in charge, as well as constructing a couple ourselves. Said cocktails were surprisingly good, especially the one featuring olive oil; to the extent that we stayed for long enough afterwards to work through the menu (eight drinks total). Again, this is just the cocktails and just in the bar, but we were very well looked after despite staff shortages and enjoyed our day very much.
I. P.
Went here 2 years ago and the food and staff was exceptionally good. This time round both the standards of the food and staff have dropped dramatically portions a lot smaller and food was flavouruss and cooked with no heart or pride.
R. k.
One of best places in London for quality food, cocktails, desserts and coffee too😀💯❤️
T. O.
I made a booking for 2 people at 12 - the reception was warm and lovely, and the service was great. I had the three course meal - and whilst the rigatoni and guinea fowl was delicious, I do admit it wasn't as amazing as I had expected. The dessert was yoghurt mousse and hazelnut cake. The mousse was delicious, like tangy greek yoghurt. Overall, lovely experience but might try other restaurants next time.
R. L.
Honestly, it's definitely worth going back. The service is good, the food is great and the atmosphere/ venue is outstanding. Portion sizes are perfect and the price is just right. I wish I could say this more often about restaurants in London.
Highly recommended. Thank you for a pleasant time.
E. D.
LOVE this place! The food and atmosphere are great as are the drinks. But the staff are the best! The Manager saw my husband taking a photo of me and whisked me into the kitchen to capture some very special photos at the passe, plating up with the chef! Memories are made like this. Will definitely be returning.
L. P.
They gave alot of options though we had booked for a certain meal menu but all our menus differed so we ended up choosing from different menus. Good food puddings delicious especially the ameretto pudding. Toilets could have been kept a little tidier. All in all though great service tour of the kitchen was informative and great to see how pastas etc where made on site
N. H.
Great service and some of the tastiest and best food I've ever eaten
J. W.
Lovely, from start to finish.
Lovely staff, very attentive and so welcoming.
Lovely food, a nice varied menu beautifully balanced flavours and excellent presentation.
Lovely chefs, had a tour of the kitchen just as they were cleaning down, gave time for a bit of a chat.
Lovely atmosphere will definitely go again, very soon.
M.
The food is fresh, The menu change almost every day but it's always really tasting. I have been here few time and I've never been disappointed! Service is friendly, attentive and talkative. My husband and I love come here for dinner or even just for a drink at the Olive Grove downstairs!
N. D.
Visited this restaurant while I was in London for vacation and I am so happy I had the chance to visit Union Street Cafe! I walked in the restaurant with my mom about 15 minutes before opening so the staff directed us to its downstairs olive garden area and it was gorgeous! They transformed the room into this gorgeous secret garden. Whilst waiting, I enjoyed one of their delicious cocktails and atmosphere. The staff were so friendly and pleasant to talk to. Unfortunately, we were not able to actually dine because of other commitments however, the restaurant manager was sweet enough to give us a tour of the kitchen! I cannot wait until I visit London again to try their fresh pasta! Overall, great customer service, and good quality ingredients!
R. Z.
One of the best dinner out of my life .
Staff very friendly and nice ... I had a pleasure to meet chef Giovanni and have a little tour in the kitchen ; never seen a place more clean in London 🖤
My favourite dish was venison ragù tagliolini but everything was absolutely lovely ! Good advice for the wine .
Highly recommend for a romantic date or a meeting with friends!
R. F.
Food was great, well priced, staff was friendly and attentive and their downstairs bar had a superb selection of cocktails. To top it off manager let us tour the kitchen and gave us an extra bite there (where the kitchen was in pristine condition as one would expect from a GR restaurant). Definitely will be coming back here if I ever find myself in London again.
K. G.
Live music, great chicken wings, and really strong service!
B. P. C.
Amazing service , the staff was lovely and very kind. Will come here again to eat, the food was delicious and the presentation was amazing.
E. B.
Very spacious, relaxed! Great choice of Italian wines!
T. N.
Food is good, a bit pricey. Great service.
S.
Delicious Italian (modern) dishes. Cool/relaxed vibe in the restaurant. Best to book to get a full sitting. The basement bar does live music sometimes but not as nice as Mark's Bar nearby.
B. B.
We ordered tomato soup and this vegan bbq glazed aubergine was very sweet and do not match with the tomato soup as it has 90%of salad with aubergine, tomato soup was great that’s why I gave 3 stars.and cocktails and mock tails also were ok.
A.
Good food, with vegetarian options. Menu brings some problem to understand but when they would change font will be cool 😉 Trufles are awesome!
F. a. B.
We had the pleasure of DJing here last Friday for a wedding and it was amazing from start to finish. The staff were friendly, the food was lush, and the layout was literally perfect for a big event or wedding. The downstairs bar works brilliantly and creates a really great atmosphere.
We hope to DJ here again soon.
Many thanks

Great food and drinks! We went to the Olive Bar first and the staff were attentive and friendly. The food in the restaurant was delicious and they were happy to accommodate our needs to share everything. The waiter also recommended very good red wine!
J. E.
I Have been here a couple of times with my girlfriend for our anniversary. The cocktails were great and the food is spectacular. But portions are small so you will need to order more than a couple dishes. It is also expensive as expected.
V. M.
Ok, some feedback first: I never complain about this but please change the font. It was extremely difficult to read especially since the vernacular of the menu was not exactly plain English (which is fine, however do recommend first time visitors to take a quick scan of the menu first).
Secondly, my seafood pasta was far too salty! It was noticeable on first bite and as all over salted things go, only got worse with each succeeding forkful! Delicious and clearly fresh but please go easy on the salt!!
Pasta and seafood full and flavoursome and fresh as you’d expect! Reasonably priced, check their website as the menus change according to seasonal stock as well as special holidays, etc. Sommelier was attentive and helpful though he kept the bottle of wine so we couldn’t pour ourselves. Didn’t mind as we never had to wait but not sure if this is always the case.
The portions of pasta is not large if you’re a big eater or can consume a heap of pasta! I’m not so I actually couldn’t finish mine and boyfriend found the size just perfect. Not family style portions for sure, though! Maybe I couldn’t finish my pasta because of how salty it was haha (after reading other reviews, seems I’m not the only one. I wouldn’t be afraid to send it back next time though!).
S. P.
Nice atmosphere, talented bar, waitering service a bit slow but other than that a good experience.
I. E.
We were there for a wedding. The facilities are still on line for a refurb but the food and staff could not have been better.
D. K.
One of the few restaurants in London that does not give you the feeling of a sardine in a can. Yes, there is space between tables.
Industrial interior design, with an aesthetically much nicer part downstairs. Nice ambiance, music's just at a right level so you can hear the conversation at your table, another plus!
Very nice service, they smile, they crack jokes, they exchange little pleasantries with you.
We very torn between the negatives and positives of the food though.
Our drinks arrived after first course which should not really happen!
The arancini were way too hot to eat, which also should not happen. Serving temperature affects the way food tastes and we were surprised Union Street does not know this.
Bruschetta was too hard to chew.
Vova was very nice though, so was the truffle risotto.
If you are a seafood fan, do not order the octopus, it was wayyy too salty.
In conclusion, Skye Gyngell's Spring in Somerset House (and many, many other restaurants) is a much better bet than Gordon Ramsay's Union Street Cafe.
On the positive side, Union offers a divine selection of wine so if your food is so-so like ours was, good wine can always save the day/night.

What can I say
This place is well worth a visit.
The food was fantastic,
The staff make you feel very welcome.
Stayed on after the meal and went for a drink with the Chef and some of the staff in the cellar bar afterwards.
Great evening, been back since,
And will be back again.
All in all
Well worth visiting.
O. J. L.
I went here for my girlfriend's birthday.
The food and the service were excellent. We booked a table at 7 PM on a Saturday and arrived on time. But we were not rushed to the table, to be served as soon as possible. Moreover, they offered us to first sit down in their bar downstairs and relax with a few cocktails (which were quite special and very good as well).
Afterwards, we headed for the dinner, which was great in taste. Though, you must go for a starter, first and second plate (we did not eat dessert) to not be hungry anymore. But the price for the very good dinner was also not cheap, but also not overly expensive. You need to think of about 50 to 60 GBP per person for a dinner as explained above.
Would do it again.
A. C.
Excellent service and price. Food was exceptional but as this is the 4th Gordon Ramsay Restaurant I've visited I'm not surprised. Unique setting and I would definitely recommend
I. D.
The menu is certainly unusual and varied. Love the decor and ambiance. My starter was delicious. However just some minor negative points :
- a great assortment of waiters and other men in grey suits kept coming to ask if everything was ok - was a little bit over the top.
- main course of tagliarini just tasted odd - I thought it tasted strongly of blue cheese but both my friend, who had the same, and the waiter insisted that was not the case. It was described as having courgette flowers - think we found one each, plus lots of actual courgette.
- the toilets are extremely dimly lit
- air conditioning too cold
However I think I would go back!!
R. I.
Went there on Saturday night. Food was ok but, as expected expensive.
If you go, be careful on the wine. The prices they quote are for some 500ml. When you get the bill because you've ordered a bottle, the price is 50% more than you expect. It was labelled when I looked at the menu but it left me with a sour taste. Can't imagine I'll be going back.
M. C.
We had a great time here, the ambience is perfect for large groups. Food was OK, but not much choice and some options were a bit samey, e.g. there were 3 starters and 4 mains to choose from, and 3 of them had truffles in them. The menu, weirdly, just lists ingredients without saying much about how the food is prepared and presented, so a bit of guesswork is involved. Portion size is spot on, enough to fill you up but still room for dessert. Overall it was a good meal, but I had hoped for something more exciting.
G. C.
Food & service, both excellent. Moreover, very good value for money. 5 stars for this fantastic restaurant!
D. W.
We were in London celebrating my belated birthday, and this was the best meal and dining experience we had over the five days. The staff (from initial greeting right through, including chefs and Nicolo) were exceptional, and Orlando went above and beyond to cater for our 8yr old son Alexander who has a dairy allergy, but who is still – two weeks on - talking about how the chef taught him how to serve his own sorbet! The food (and wine) was amazing, and with a summer deal was very reasonably priced compared to other evening meals we had; and we left feeling full and happy!
It was a beautiful experience for many reasons, and when we return to London we will definitely be going to Union Street Café again.
Would very highly recommend.
i. v.
Me and my partner walked in this place randomly as we were looking for the place to have nice dinner. This was amazing choice. The food is outstanding we had starters and mains plus dessert and two drinks each, overall bill was £100 including service charge. We will definitely come back as this is the place to enjoy fine dining.
J. H.
The service is great, the guys deserve 5 stars, but the food is mediocre except cheeses, they are super delicious. We had a portion of gnocchi, its texture was very good and it melted in your mouth but it was blunt and the sauce was bitter and blend. I expected to have a much more mouth-watering experience at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant and a wider vegetarian selection.
Desserts are also nothing special.
Y. S.
It is the best restaurant I have ever eaten in London.
C.
Not what you would expect from a GR restaurant. Very basic food, nothing special. Overpriced for what it is. But waiters are friendly.
D.
Positives - good decor, close to a tube, private dining available and perhaps, above all, reasonable prices. Negatives - the starter portion size for the porchetta was wildly variable. The sides arrived 7.5 mins after the mains which meant you were eating food at two different temperatures. Ordered a desert (chocolate bubino) only to be told that they had run out. Overall the service was average. When you have curved back chairs which struggle to hold coats the waiters should make it known their is a cloak room. The service was overly attentive at the start but slipped as the evening went on. I had to request a wish to order deserts on two occasions.
The website described the restaurant as 'lively'. A more accurate description would be noisy. Knowing this why would the designers choose circular tables for 4/5 that are unnecessarily big. In practice it means you spend most of the evening shouting.
J. S.
Food is just ok, very good service and staff, but there are far better places for the money.
C. M.
Wow,wow, wow. I have never laughed or cried so hard. Here is amazing. All the staff made my birthday one I will never forget. From the outstanding meal, the excellent service to the staff sing happy birthday to me. You really made our night. To see the kitchen and where all the magic happens was just out of this world. And the menu well I will be returning to try the rest. Thank you xx
R. v. L.
The staff is amazing. Helpful, funny and fast.
The food was great as well, low priced options available too, but not compromising on taste!
Excellent dinner.
C. H.
I had the finest dining experience of my life in this restaurant. Our server, Sylvia, was extraordinary in every way. She saw my enthusiasm for the food and the way it was cooked and arranged for me to go into the kitchen which is an experience I'll never forget as long as I live! The risotto was a life changing experience, and the service was beyond reproach.
k. k.
Went there for my birthday. Great restaurant and amazing staffs. They do everything to make it perfect. The service was great and humble. I would highly recommend GR restaurants to everyone. Never let me down until now. 5/5 , keep it up
B. B.
Fancy and slightly expensive.
It's OK food, but more of a name and noatalgia of going to a Ramsey restaurant than the food bringing me back.
The waiters were nice.
The food was OK.
The drinks were fine.
It did take over 2 hours from entry to exit, so it was a little slow with lots of waiting inbetween.
A. L.
Came here for a very long and informal business lunch and been back a couple of times for cocktails in the basement bar downstairs.
Love the upstairs decor, the staff and the drinks - in addition, Gordon was there and he looks really fit in person (but he knows it too)!
The food though... Honestly, it was not presented well. The vegetarian options probably looked the best. My meat eating friends' plates all looked like slop - I'm not even joking. One of the guys didn't even finish his main - not because he was full - he just didn't like it.
Dessert - can't comment as not at all memorable.
Drinks upstairs are great but the drinks menu upstairs is different to the one downstairs - tried a few times and they were always disappointing. It's so quiet down there and far too dark! They need to change it up! Too much competition around not to!
A. C.
The food was quite good actually but sadly the service was terrible. The waiting staff clearly didn’t care and we struggled to get any attention to order or pay or for anything. Gave the impression we were a hinderance and most responses and interactions were pretty surly. The only thing slightly worse than the service was the female toilets. Gordon needs to do better quality control for venues using his name. Three stars only due to the food. 1 star for the service.
R. W.
Amazing service tonight. This is an excellent restaurant. Amalfi coast cocktail was great, service in the bar was friendly and fun. Food in the restaurant as good as you would expect with the added benefit of attentive staff and great advice from the sommelier.
Nice to find top quality without being pretentious.
R.
Welcomed by the head sommelier, Amazing staff, scrumptious and greatly presented food/dishes. Service was just impeccable, ambient very special for any occasion and the tour of the kitchen is just the cherry on top of the cake
M. R.
Great place with great staff, always taking care of us! Thank you for the experience.
S. F.
I haven't eaten here, so can't comment on the tastiness of the food, but in the basement you'll find an awesome cocktail bar. At 9pm on a Saturday night, it was almost empty, the service was fantastic, and the cocktails were to die for. The decor of the room is brilliantly retro, and there's even a photo booth should the mood take you. I'll be back.
B. F.
I was blown away! The hostess wasn't impressed with the arrival of the five of us after a long day checking out the sites of London, but she was the only one who wasn't pleasant. In her defense we weren't dressed for dinner in such a fine restaurant, but we weren't slovenly either. I've never had better gnocchi. Seriously! I thought about making the two and a half hour trip back to London to eat here one more time.
P. M.
High expectations but didn't wow us. We were met by Marco the barman who was inspirational and a breath of fresh air when compared to other bar persons. Learned lots about his life and he enquired about ours. A real good touch. However for 1 and half drinks each it cost us almost £40 which was unnecessary considering two were tasters. Although his colleagues were pleasant there was nothing that wowed us. The menu was fancy with prices to match and not much excitement to choose from. The restaurant is ok but not real atmosphere. Overall £250 for the two of us to travel to London for an okay experience - not something we'll be doing again in a hurry!
A. K.
Decent Italian Pasta, good selection of wines and great service. My Fiancée adored the duck pasta, I just felt for £20 I had high expectations of the Spaghetti I had and it was just 'okay'. Still very worth going.
M. B.
The staff are absolutely amazing they literally cannot do enough for you the service is outstanding and every staff member has a smile on there face. The food was just ok it wasn’t as fantastic as I imagined I felt like it lacked flavour it was all edible and looked good but it was just missing flavour and taste I would not go back as it wasn’t for me but the service was defiantly a 5*.
S. H.
Food was delicious and the 3 course cocktail pre/post theatre menu was great. The staff are fantastic and made my 3year old very welcome with a great children's colouring and sticker pack, the child's meal was more than adequate and I had a taste and it taste fantastic The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because my wife's pasta dish was so overpowered with cheese the dish was lost well worth a visit
J. K.
Amazingly delicious food. Go for the homemade pasta. It will rock your Italian gastronomic world. Don’t miss its homemade bread as well. The only thing critic is...the price. £30 for lunch is not for every day, but definitely worth try.
j. w.
Great experience, duck salad was lovely! Excellent service from Robyn and Ionela. Would recommend!
R. B.
Fantastic food and service... absolutely as expected. Great drinks and desserts as well! The only thing that could have made it any better, is if Gordon Ramsey himself had served us!!!
n. v.
15% service charge but very nice. One dish is a bit too salty. Poor hygiene as you are have the previous customer’s coffee.
S. B.
I was a little sceptical that this would be a celebrity chef rip off but the whole experience was excellent. Good location just behind the south bank, excellent attentive service and the food was an excellent slightly different take on Italian food, very well cooked and presented.
My only slight quibble was that the wine was a little pricey compared to similar restaurant prices.
E. T.
Food is very nice but seems to be lacking an atmosphere and identity. There are better, more authentic places to go in London for the price. The Monkfish was nice but quite small and underwhelming. The starter, tapas style dishes are probably the best bet. Make sure to try their champagne and bloody mary's. Staff were very helpful. Probably more of a mid week place as it is a bit out of the way at weekends.
N. M.
Delicious food. Attentive polite staff. Very well priced. Was surprised at how forgiving the bill was after a 3 course meal and many drinks. There is also a nice bar downstairs where we were treated to some live jazz in the evening. Will be back!
D. J.
Food was good, and so was the service, contrary to what people have written here. May be because we were a large group.
The basement seating area is beautiful, though watch out for your head, so many low hanging tree branches
A. l.
The place is welcoming, nicely laid out and spacious - all you might want from a restaurant in Central London. I really like the fact that the kitchen and the chefs are visible from the dining area, so you can see what actually is going on there. The food is good, the wine selection is super extensive and the staff is always friendly.
5 stars for Union Street Cafe.
C. C.
I'm a stickler for good customer service and was more than impressed when we entered the restaurant. The food was amazing and the wine was a great compliment to the experience. Definitely glad we made a point to visit during our London visit.
N. M.
Ramsey's recipe definitely bring out the real flavour of the main ingredients .. so order food that you like.. for instance i tried the sardines and realised I'm not really a sardine lover .. the prices tally too so be careful with that.. but all in all a very nice experience
S. P.
Good food, very nice staff, spacious and fairly pricey. Not quite large portions. Drinks are quite lovely too. The atmosphere is lovely and the ambience and interior decor & plants is beautiful.
B. S.
I only realised a couple of hours later that I’d actually had a vegetarian meal. Service is not 5 star, but the food is incredible, perhaps save for the superfluous truffle.
Order a lot of antipasti and a lot of wine. Both are great, especially the mozzeralla knots.
J. M.
Went here for a friend's birthday. We were a group of 20+ people and the service was ok, understandably it took a lot of time to prepare and serve. Food was good, had the 3-course menu for £35; I would have preferred bigger servings however it's Gordon Ramsay's so you pay for the name. I wouldn't go here hungry.
c. p.
I went here for fathers day having their set menu. The wine list was extortionate (the cheapest was £35) and for the location, the food in general was overpriced. Our waitress was great and gave us a tour of the kitchens which was very informative.
D. C.
I took my two nephews from California, one 12 and one 15, who is a fan of GR: nightmare kitchens. I was worried that I had made a mistake. How wrong I was. During our two day trip to London from Manchester, this was the absolute highlight. The boys and I thoroughly enjoyed the food. Small tasting bruchettas and cooked parmesan were presented gratis. The boys liked them so much, the waiter brought more. Washed down with sublime mocktails. My sangria was fabulous and generous in measure. Excellent and beautifully presented main course and starters. Limited choice on the £26 PP deal, but something to tempt each of us. Sweets were beautifully presented and delightful. I have never tasted Granita before. I dont think i want to again for fear that level of gastronomic ecstacy couldn't be matched. All three of us, two of whom have hearty appetites, were sated with the portion sizes. I wasn't overstuffed, but certainly satisfied. The overwhelming element of the experience was the kind attentiveness of the staff, who went out of their way to make our meal a special occasion. They made the boys feel very special. They will definitely be nagging their parents to use GRs restaurants in the USA. I hope they will take me when I next visit LA. I will definitely return if I visit London in the future. The bill came to £110 over the anticipated £78 for three specials. We ordered two large bottles of San Pellegrino and the accompaniments to the main dishes were pricey, although very generous. I would have expected accompinaments to have been included in a menu. The staff kindly boxed up the left overs for my nephew, who enjoyed his breakfast of sandy potatoes and saffron fried courgettes.
A. G. R.
Excellent food, herbal tea and service
M. Z.
Cozy environment, good appetizers, great dishes, but the stand apart are the desserts. Hat's off to the pâtissière, a vanilla cream so light it was almost a gas. Very worth the visit.
B. W.
All of the food and wine at this restaurant was great. Every dish tasted amazing, worthy of 5 stars. I give the restaurant only 4 stars, however, because our service was sub-par. Service was slow, and our waiter was not the best.
A. S.
A little loud as there weren't many soft furnishings. The only ale they had was off and the waiter was trying really hard to push the wheat beer. There was an al a carte and a set menu, but both were written in a font that was v hard to read. Sadly the same font is used on the website, so there's no point trying to read it on your phone. The food was good, some nice flavours, but it was expensive for what we had. All in all it was OK, but there was no wow factor, so I wouldn't be keen to go back.
j. b.
Unfortunately we waited over 1 hour for food it wasn't really busy, my chunky chips weren't cooked all the way through and burger was rather tasteless & bland .I guess there rusty after lockdown
k. w.
Amazing food, great atmosphere! It was me and my partners first time to eat here and the receptionist were so welcoming! Loved it!
A. F.
Hesitantly...not so great. Minuscule portions. Very snooty servers. They for 2 items ordered.
On the positive, the picked up the check...can't complain about that.
Avoid the bruschetta. The topping is a bit like jellied tomato barf.
R. M.
From 27th Dec: Came to London to try this gordon ramsey restaurant and was very disappointing. Menu font very hard to read and almost illegible in the dark light, sausage starter was mush and quite favourless , service had multiples moments of no contact for over 15 minutes particularly when requesting the bill (12.5% service charge included doesn't entice good service by the waiters), dessert and "matching" espresso martini and irish coffee arrived 10 minutes a part, mains and wine were good but for the price we had a much better Italian at a fraction of the price at cichetti. Regretably would not recommend as I am great fan of Gordon's recipe and style.
E. R.
Came for my mum's birthday dinner. The service was fantastic but the food was nothing special. Good for a standard dinner in the area but much better in London.
J. P.
I told them it was for my wedding anniversary when we booked. They said they would do something and they forgot and sat us under a cold air-conditioning vent that had to be shut off.
The mackerel starter was nothing special.
The main was nice, well cooked and good quality but that's all.
The desert was boring.
The wine was lovely but should be for £50
The cocktails were nice.
The service was good.
Over-all, nothing wrong but I expected a lot more for £150 or £100 if you take off the wine. Nothing really stood out or floated my boat.
I have spent £150 in other places and got much better value for £££ and had a nicer time e.g. the St Pancras Hotel or Langan's..
c. c.
Nice decor, but the crab antipasto starter lacked dimension, and the pork loin was the hardest, chewiest restaurant meat over $5 I've ever eaten. Steak knife could barely get through this.
Hard pass for recommendations and revisits.
L.
Best customer service at a restaurant I've ever had thank you to Brie and Christian for their friendliness definitely worth a visit
m. s.
Expected alot more from the food, shockingly average, and to top it off they put balsamic vinegar on a chocolate tart!! Was told it was to 'riose' the flavour, tasted horrible. Service was OK, underground bar was great! Fantastic drinks, service at the bar was phenomenal, they honestly couldn't do enough for you
B. B.
Love this place! Great decor and a very central location, 10 minutes walk from Waterloo.
The food was delicious! My favourite was the stuffed zucchini flower followed by the pea risotto. But surely the baccalà, the ricotta bruschetta and the ravioli were very good too.
Don’t get fooled by the photos, portions are small! Service is good. Prices are high.
Definitely a place to go.
d. r.
Ok! We were booked in on a meal and cocktail deal but choice was so uninspiring we went a la carte. It is neither particularly great or reasonably priced compared with a "proper" Italian ( sorry Gordon!)
B. H.
Good meat but average pastas and poor buffala. Far from an ideal quality/price balance. Careless service, alterning over presence with absolute absence.
Overall, ok but pricey for what it is. Gordon should come more often to make some blunt comments as he likes them!
M. T.
Excellent food and very good service. Our family very much enjoyed the atmosphere and the quality service received. Both the fish and beef secondis were excellent. Our children very much enjoyed the pasta as well.
S. T.
My mother and I were on holiday in London, we come from Perth Australia. She loves watching Gordon Ramsay's shows, so I took her for lunch at Union Street Café. The hospitality that Orlando shown to my mother was beyond my belief, first class service. He treated her like one of his own family and It is incredibly hard to find such a good service in a big city nowadays. The experience I had today, is making our holiday in London so enjoyable. My mother hasn't stopped talking about it today as if I wasn't there, and as you can see in this photo she was really happy.
Thank you Union Street Café for making our day today and please continue to produce delicious food and excellent customer service, special thank you for Orlando and Nicollo, my mother will never forget how you made her feel, she has a good memory.
A. A. Q.
It’s one of the most delicious restaurants I’ve been in London.
The starter was diced meat and ptarmigan pasta and they all tasted delicious.
For main course we had steak, lobster and sea bass and they all tasted great.
H. J.
I can see why it has a good rating f on others. Great atmosphere, very well presented, nice , neat restaurant. Good service and attentive staffs. Down rate as i thought it is little bit pricy (relatively) and cost-performance could be better (portion, quality, menu choices etc).
D. P.
It was okay. Music a bit too loud and the food was okay…
U. S.
Superb restaurant. Excellent menu choices. superb decor and service. The desserts were amazing. Staff were welcoming and friendly and very helpful.
D. S.
I thought it was very nice but a little pricey for what it was. The staff were extremely good.
A. S.
Such a cozy place with excellent food. You can't miss it
H. M.
Superb!!!! Excellent welcome and top service from charming staff who worked brilliantly and efficiently as a team, all with genuine smiles! STAR DEAL menu is excellent value with high quality ingredients, very generous servings and plenty of choice.
We also enjoyed the kitchen tour and a taster of 'out of this world' fresh mint choc chip ice cream straight from the freezer. Nice end to a faultless meal experience. Must have the ice cream for dessert next visit!! Just wish we still lived in Southwark so we could come more often, but we'll be back soon on our next trip.
GRAZIE MILLE to the whole Friday evening team! ☆☆☆☆☆:-)
R. d.
Brilliant night on our 24 wedding anniversary made us feel so special all the staff were amazing thank you 😊😊
A. C.
Was there on a Monday night, lively and busy spot even on the first business day of the week. If you're a Harry Potter fan, you'd enjoy the walk there as you pass by some quite interesting locations you could catch a dementor lurking in. Starter was a fresh sardine dish, followed by Paccheri, followed by GuineaFowl followed by Panna Cotta. Was a great meal end to end. The menu definitely leans more towards seafood and there's a great emphasis on seasoning, it is authentic Italian, the Chef Ramsay way.
F. G.
I had a fantastic time in Bread Street Kitchen, must try bottlemless pizza.
L. H.
From the food (the tastiest i have ever eaten) to the service (relaxed and friendly yet uber chic) to the surroundings (modern, industrial) this is possibly now my favorite restaurant in London. We were overwhelmed by the whole experience and will most definitely be back again.
C. C. L.
Visited there with good deal. The staffs are friendly and bubbling. Beautiful eating environment with relax vibe. The food is amazing as well. I wouldn't mind to pay full set price.
E. D.
Nice food although some things are not really "Italian". However the service was good the food very nice. If you happen to be in the area it's definetly an option for a good dinner.
E. J.
The waitresses were friendly but they do business with pushing you to order things you don’t want to , the eggs with truffle were tasty but overpriced (19£)
Pasta with tuna was not that good, tasted weird
Stay away from the dessert !!!
How Gordon Ramsay used to say “it’s disgusting ”
m. d.
Excellent customer service, food and venue!
C. R.
Had a Sunday lunch there with my boyfriend. A nice experience, though the first thing that displeased was a very "uncosy" arrangement of tables and chairs. As all tables by the windows are for 4+ people it is practically impossible to enjoy the street view being a couple. Tables for two also offer some nice view, although you have to sit in the way of the waiters and other clients. Personally I had to change the position of my chair radically to be opposite my friend and look at the street without blocking anyone's way. When my efforts were noticed we were offered a table much further in the depth of the restaurant on a bench or so - people, I understand it is not a top-formal fine dining outlet but still - not a pub! We remained where we are and were offered water and given menus. Despite we did not want any water (too hungry at the moment we were longing for something more substantial), we got it - not by our waiter, but by some other higher member of the staff who obviously did not take into account that we might simply not want it! The menus... my partner speaks English, French, Russian and Arabic. I, in my turn, am rather good at English, French, Russian, German, Ukrainian, moreover some bits of knowledge of Spanish and Italian are still with me... Nevertheless, the menus are almost unreadable: first, they were in Italian, but not too simple so to say. Two well educated people with some insight into European languages and former experiences in Italian restaurants could not understand it normally. A little bit of English won't be too much, we're in England in the end! Another thing - the font resembled of a handwriting in blue, slightly faded ink... They must be laughing their heads off behind the scene watching people trying to understand those inscriptions in Italian... Little bit of simplicity would make ordering much more pleasant and effective. Do all their clients have to use their smart-phones to translate the menu?!!! The food: nice but not exceptional. Tagliatelle were a bit too tomato and oregano overflavoured, fatty... One starter stated smth traditional in Roman style containing anchovies and celeriac... well, celeriac it was! Much less anchovies than expected. Another starter - some kind of mackerel carpaccio - was sooo bland.. Though, probably that's how it was supposed to be. The fish (cod) was good, light with crusty skin. Nice desserts, not a bad wine. Service was also good but nothing exceptional. However, almost a 100 pounds for a lunch!!! A little bit too expensive, I'd say.... All in all, this place may be given a second chance, probably as a bar. Or on a special occasion... So far not very impressive.

Had a good night out with the Gloster family
D. A.
Tacky. A barman told us they sell a £65 cognac and that a customer had ordered a double and mixed it with coke, which I think tells you everything you need to know about the place. Having said that the cocktails are excellent.
S. L.
The Shepherd’s pie was THE bee’s knees, cat’s whiskers and dog’s doodahs!
A. R.
Really delicious food and great service. We were there for a Christmas dinner every item served was delicious. Primi was the Ruisotto which was very tasty and then for secondi had the Guinea fowl which was moist and tender. The desert was the perfect size to finish of a delicious meal all round.
J. O.
I really enjoyed being here. Especially after having watched Gordon on TV so many times I had to. Heck on his cuisine. This restaurant is especialized in italian food so it was particularly yummy.
S. C.
Great food great atmosphere staff and service second to none attention to detail superb knowledgeable staff head cocktail barman knowledgeable as he was entertaining we had cocktails before dinner in the olive grove and went back for more after dinner. All in all great evening and will definitely return
A. V.
Food in the main restaurant is woefully average. Service is good they try hard, just let down by a very basic menu. Downstairs lounge bar is worth a trip though good range of drinks and staff who know how to work them.
D. H.
Delicious food/drink as well as impeccable service, they change their menu often and all the items were seasonal and well put together. Definitely will be visiting again.
S. A.
I don't usually bother to write reviews, but we went out for the Sunday Prosecco Pranzo and it was outstanding. The food was excellent, the ambiance great, and the waiting staff friendly considerate and patient. It was a lovely experience.
L. P.
Great staff, friendly service. charming menu options, yes it is a little pricey but well worth it. I work around the corner, also in hospitality and really appreciate how lovely The USC is.
L. F.
One of the most friendly restaurants I've been to. The food is fantastic and desserts are to die for. Well worth a visit!
C. L.
It’s hard not to give this a 5 star review. The Wellington alone deserves that. I liked the flavour and presentation every single dish I ordered. The staff is super accommodating. I will definitely come again for more Beef Wellington.
J.
Excellent food and service! I'm not a fine diner, but this was really a great experience. Great seasoning of the courses and great choice of wine from the sommelier. Thank you, hope to see you again.
D. J.
Beautiful food. Perfectly seasoned and catered for my fiancées dairy intolerance perfectly. Nothing was too much for them and I will always love that place. Will go back once a year until the day I die
E. A.
What a great experience! We went there for a dinner during London Restaurant Festival. For £26 we got a three course dish and a kitchen tour - an absolute highlight of the evening! The food was fresh and very tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful :) I will definitely be back!
F. P.
If the place is called cafe then it shouldn't be a problem just to sit there and have a coffee without being looked at you like I don't know where I am by the staff. Loose sugar for the coffee? It doesn't look to fancy, comfy place, don't be afraid to go in, don't be intimidated by the name or/and the staff.
f. m.
Lucky enough to go to a private party in the olive grove downstairs and will be returning for dinner asap as the canapes were morsels of pure pleasure; the simplest of ingredients like tomato and mozzarella tasting like nothing I'd had before. Amazing!
R. H.
I attended venue for a wedding and found the whole experience excellent. Food/drink and service all top class and they couldn't do more for you. Great location and highly recommended.
J. B.
Good food excellent service bit pricey.
S. I.
The staff are very welcoming and the vegan dishes were OK but too expensive and way too "light". I had to order two mains to feel somehow fed. The artichoke starter was tasteless and on paper it looked more complex than sliced artichokes on a bed of rucola. The polenta dish was very good and the onion dish was also lovely. The banana dessert with peanuts was extremely bad and it looked average. I would have put all my money on the dessert actually. Overall not bad but too expensive and the dessert menu needs more imagination.
P. Q.
I attended venue for a wedding and found the whole experience excellent. Food/drink and service all top class and they couldn't do more for you. Great location and highly recommended.*****
N. C.
Staff is attentive and friendly but not enough. They were really running and it took over 30' for each course to arrive. The food is ok but nothing that would make me visit again.
l. s.
Lovely evening for my partner's birthday
A. B.
My reason for the lower star rating was due to the lack of vegetarian options for each course. The food I did eat was delicious however, but left the restaurant still a bit hungry.
G. V.
I went there for a Saturday lunch and was pleased with the refined Italian plates in a quiet and relaxed environment. The staff was attentive and welcoming. Only mishap was the slow service despite the relatively low attendance on that day.
N. R.
Great meals but the menu are extremely limited possibly due to the fact that the food is seasonal. The portions are not filling but certainly delicious
E. R.
Meditation bistro with a varied menu and high quality execution. Good set menus. Warehouse ambience and Great service. Not cheap, but reasonable value..Will be back.
J. L.
Great spot in Southwark. Reasonably priced for the high quality of the food, have been twice now and would go again. Staff all so friendly and attentive. The downstairs "Olive Grove" room is gorgeous and would be great for a private party
K. T.
Excellent food and staff. The food was very well prepared. 4 stars because the menu selection could have had more unique items.
M. A.
The Italian food is very well prepared and delicious, although to be honest not very traditional. I loved the atmosphere, the service is high quality and the wine was excellent.
O. K.
Great and professional staff. The duck was simply exquisite, as was "Il Bacio", an utterly delicious dessert. Even though a bit pricey, I chose great venue for St.Valentine's dinner.
K. R.
perhaps because it was the last day before lockdown but service was poor, my food was very good but I was with a group of vegetarians who left disappointed
T. R.
Went to the pre-opening so glad to go back and find everything still as good Given a host of tasting dishes all fresh, inspirational and exciting. Great team well done
S. K.
A good restaurant for pizza lovers
V. J.
Even if Gordon Ramsay is supoosed to be behind this place, the experience, food and location don't give you the sense of the price you are paying for. They have an open kitchen on a mezzanine with a very bright light that is very annoying if you are facing that way. More of a fast to go feeling that a £40-50 pp restaurant
P. O.
A bit empty. The antipasti was good and the main course barely ok. First experience with Gordon Ramsay and no waouh factor. Will still would try one more just to see if it confirmed
D. P.
Had a lovely lunch in the restaurant earlier in the week. The food was extremely tasty and the staff very attentive. Will definitely go again.
T. R.
Food was OK quality but overpriced for what it was. My main chicken dish was lacking in flavour and the spinach was not cooked well. Ambience and service were good but I'm not sure it was worth the £20 service charge.
L. Z.
I've just tried Gordon Ramsies Pizza before thay reopen, BEST PIZZA I'VE EVER HAD.
P. L.
Food was OK, but a bit on the salty side. I guess maybe it's Gordon restaurant and I have a high expectations. Not to mention, we had a party of 9, and 1 of us didn't get the main course until everyone's was almost done eating (20mins later)
A. A.
Overpriced for the experience. Quality of food and service were not what I expected, especially for the price
Overall, I enjoyed the food, however it didn't leave enough of an impact to warrant the Ramsay namesake.
If you're in the area for a show, you're better off going to another shop. Or simply try another Ramsay restaurant
S. C.
The staff and food are just amazing.❤❤❤
Went here for my sister's 40th birthday and all of the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The eggs are seriously good and you must try the coriander ice cream . The restaurant itself is a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Definitely will be going back for seconds ....thirds .
C. S.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in London. The food is always fresh and delicious, great red wines and amazing waiting staff.
Real Italian in London!
J. “. C.
This place is well worth the money and the name. We had the pre-theatre menu. The choices are slim but that means the food no matter what you have will be out of this world.
E. A.
I enjoyed the soup very much but the fish could have been better. Great cocktails. Very nice decor and friendly service.
A. S.
Food was lovely, and the staff were friendly. But, of course, as a single person, they seated me at the bar. I just get sick of that sometimes.
W.
What a wonderful warm Italian welcome in this stylish cafe that is in fact a restaurant. The food was excellent, with the finest ingredients cooked with flair and delicacy by Giovani and his team. The front of house team were brilliant with Mario and Giovani (not related to the chef) taking great care of our dining experience. Thank you so much.
G.
Great food, friendly staff that helped explain the menu and made my birthday special. Amazing service.
O. K.
Excellent all around, some of the best in London. Highly recommended.
S. A.
Amazing Valentine's menu!
J.
Excellent food and service! I'm not a fine diner, but this was really a great experience. Great seasoning of the courses and great choice of wine from the sommelier. Thank you, hope to see you again.
E. Z.
Good use of the basement, nice idea. Good selection of cocktails. Our cocktail man was intense though.
D. J.
Beautiful food. Perfectly seasoned and catered for my fiancées dairy intolerance perfectly. Nothing was too much for them and I will always love that place. Will go back once a year until the day I die
F. F.
Great food. Great with kids - not only is there a kids activities box with crayons etc, but staff really engaged with my son throughout and organised a scoop of ice cream and candle for his birthday at the end of the meal. Will be back
E.
Great service and what I loved most is that they do listen to customers feedback and take actions. Well done.
D. J.
Great bar and staff! The selected menu was not my taste. But as I was invited I did not choose!
J. B.
Great lunch. Set menu was really good value.
R. N.
Very good food and service, staff is amazing all the family loves it very good building and service well done Ramsay for the impeccable food and service.
G. C.
The quality of the food is very good. Staff is very polite and helpful. Not so expensive.
X. J. R.
Great atmosphere and better service, as well as really tasty and varied food. Will definitely come back, highly recommend.
A. S.
Very good food and service, although it is a little bit overpriced given the size of the servings.
J.
Overall was a decent experience. Food served had deep flavours that suit my taste. Although pricy , it was worth it. My only complaint was the serving and refills of the bread without knowing it would be charged. As a tourist i wasn’t aware of it.
P. M.
Friendly and prompt service - Thank you Mara. Excellent food - The grilled octopus was perfectly prepared. And to top it all off we really enjoyed the dessert and wine pairings.
F. F.
Great food. Great with kids - not only is there a kids activities box with crayons etc, but staff really engaged with my son throughout and organised a scoop of ice cream and candle for his birthday at the end of the meal. Will be back
S. D.
Great dinner and thoughtful attentive service.
M. H.
Excellent Italian food and friendly staff. Lovely restaurant and basement bar. Easily copes with food allergies. Not cheap and not too much food.
n. t.
Just brilliant lovely staff great food loved it. Well done even my birthday plate nice touch team xx
V. B.
Love the Olive Grove experience, it is fascinating! And the food is extraordinary. Transforms you back to Italy I swear. Amazing! I do recommend and will be back soon.
M. S.
slightly less than i’d expect from a gordon ramsey restaurant. the main course was incredible but the dessert was unimpressive. the service was great tho, so was the decoration!
S. H.
Food was ok but by no means exceptional. A catalogue of errors.. The cocktail making was excellent. I did expect more to be frank.
1. N. V. T.
Was amazing Dinner one of the my favourite Italian restaurant in London. The service amazing staff friendly helpful and professional... I'll definitely be back...
N. M. S.
Excellent food and service!
W. J. (. W.
Tasty pizza and great sides.
J. N.
It does the job. A nice atmosphere and layout with helpful staff. Food is not exciting but then is not super expensive either.
S. T.
Doing a bit of carb loading with all this Italian lately. The menu isn't easy on the eye with the scripted font and the dishes didn't jump out at me. The waiter was good and explained everything to us. Food was also good, mine seasoned a bit too well and portions were quite small. It was ok... But I think £27 each for a small plate of pasta and a soft drink is a bit steep for lunch.
Wheelchair access: there's a bit of a steep ramp to get up at the entrance which is fine, but you couldn't open the door and get in at the same time without some help. Staff assures me there were toilets, but as this was a quick lunch break, I didn't get a chance to check it out
B. G.
Staff were amazing and the food was good too.
Highly recommended.
Literally a straight two minute walk from Southwark tube station.
s. z.
Nothing special. Ok food and service but you should really expect more in London. Had four people for supper and the whole experience was average. What a shame.
J. S.
Soo is good place some special food will be there also
P. S.
An upmarket Italian restaurant, book for a table or you may be disappointed. The food is modern and not large portions but extremely well presented and full of flavour.
M. W.
Very friendly staff with very salty dishes...
Ordered the set pre theater menu and really not much to choose from for me as I don't like fish and beef :(
Starter looks good but a bit salty.
Main looks good too, but also a bit salty.
Dessert... Dam...2 scoops of mint choc “gelato” that taste like £2 box ice cream from Tesco :)
But all the stars have to go to the friendly waiters and waitresses...
D. D.
Good service. Atmosphere was relaxing. Food was excellent, a credit to Gordon R.
S. P.
They got the bill wrong but corrected it quickly and gave us a free kitchen tour. Overall, a very fun experience and obviously the food and service was great.
D. W.
Service was great. Atmosphere and charm was ok and the food was okay but probably not very memorable.
P. M.
Food was ok, not sure everyone enjoyed their meal. Check menu before visiting as a little bit limited for fussy eaters.
A. A.
The food is great, the cocktail bar not so much. It's tiny and can get crowded after work hours.
K. S.
Great venue, nice atmosphere and a short walk from. Southwark station. Downstairs they have a private venue you can hire called the Olive Grove, lovely space, great cocktails and reasonable hire costs.
K. W.
Good food, poor service, though it may just have been an off day. Far better service on subsequent occasion. Well worth a visit.
J. W.
Billed as an urban warehouse with a daily changing Italian menu, this venue might be better suited to the gentrified streets of #Shoreditch rather than #Bankside. However, as a new local resident it's a welcome addition to the strip. Head Chef Davide Degiovanni's dishes hone in on seasonal ingredients sourced from areas of the Mediterranean. "Small batches" = high on flavour, I particularly enjoyed the linguine and Ligurian pesto (a stable at home with la mia Italian family) and a dolci of home-made sorbetto (which does translate well!) Attentive and welcoming staff, my only concern was around the voraciously blowing air-conditioning unit and lack of offers to appease the modern, deal-hungry wallet.
A. R.
Excellent food accompanied by nice wine and friendly service. Nice decor. Good price for set menu.
D. G.
Really good pre theatre menu, £25 for three courses with a cocktail. Food was amazing, especially the pork chop on polenta
R. W.
Very disappointing effort for a GR-branded restaurant. Everything was under-seasoned when we dined for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Service was attentive, but not friendly. Expensive lunch for food that wasn't that great.
C. D.
Great server with lots of helpful suggestions and very friendly. Great choice of food and drinks which were all lovely
K. H.
The food was above average. Staff were OK. Nothing special to be honest. Overall, don't think we'll be coming back.
C. G.
Food was awesome, atmosphere, staff and down stairs bar were exceptional! Will be back on next trip to the UK in October.
J. B.
Food was ok. Portions are small. Staff nice, but felt the waiters to be a little like robots.
D. S.
Setting is lovely. The service attentive and un rushed. Food- didn't have that much, but olives for about £6? They have to be more than about 8 in a dish.
L. L.
I do not normally like Italian restaurants unless they are really good. This restaurant can be highly recommended. Their chocolate cake at the end was really impressive!
L. C.
Lovely food, great atmosphere and nice staff. Good for larger groups.
J. A.
Very nice restaurant, so if you are into fancy dining go here, its just that im not :) so probably 5 stars if you are.
M. H.
Very good food, friendly attentive staff without constantly hovering around you, relaxed layout that feels open and airy.
M. L.
Nice food and service at reasonable prices. One star off as music was overly loud for a half full restaurant on a Tuesday night.
J. Z.
I was so excited to eat at a Gordon Ramsay Restaurant. The food was amazing and the waiters were very nice. I took the parmesan menue and I loved it.
D. J.
Great bar and staff! The selected menu was not my taste. But as I was invited I did not choose!
P.
Outstanding service, fine food.
P. S.
Amazing food, small portions, acceptable service, too much noise, comfortable chairs/seats, good ambiance.
J. R.
Good food, service, and good promotion in January. PRobably wouldn’t go out of my way to dine there but had a decent solid meal.
A. G.
Delicious food, great cocktails, although the food was a little late coming. Cool atmosphere - especially the downstairs bar.
R. N.
Very good food and service, staff is amazing all the family loves it very good building and service well done Ramsay for the impeccable food and service.
N. S.
Had a good evening there in the olive tree room. The food was good but I somehow expected more from this place, much better Italians in London.
P.
Downstairs cocktail bar is pleasantly un-crammed on a Friday night. Cocktails are good but staff are a bit variable.
T. K.
One of the best Italians I have ever been to, really good food and great service - it's obvious Ramsay has an influence over this place.
A. L.
Was glad the restaurant wasn't super pack, it's not all hype. The food was bloody brilliant.
J. L.
Great restaurant. Sublime dishes. Wonderful customer service.
C. T.
Amazing food!
N. A.
Good and friendly service in general. Always can be better.
T. M.
Nice food. They have daily set menus that change every day. Worth a try.
G. V. (. G.
very good food, specific choice, friendly service and for the end .. free lunch for children, such a surprise I did not expect ..
R. M.
I came here expecting an overpriced food with not much taste, and boy how I was wrong. I had the 3 course meal and was delicious, specially the dessert was incredible (a kind of deconstructed mille-feuille, see picture). Top it all off with the friendly and serviceable staff and you'll get a great experience. Definitely would come back!
D. V.
Amazing service, friendly staff, tasty food. You may pay a bit higher but we'll worth it for a stress free delicious meal..
S.
Great food and service! Lovely January deal menu and great place for a celebration!!
K. L.
Really lovely place and right by my office. But the food is not that special and the portions small. Presentation is great and service very attentive.
w. w.
The food is not bad but it is lacking in character. Nothing special or exciting. And dishes are overpriced.
S. L. L.
A warm place with surprised Mediterranean food style.. the restaurant manager knew we were from HK and recommended us visit their restaurant there with a special treat :)
T. S.
Have eaten here scores of times. 10 out of 10 for service. The food is always delicious with menus updated as the season's pass.
R. N.
Not insanely expensive and the ox cheeks were outstanding. Busy, young trendy crowd - decent amount of background noise. Would go again.
D. L.
Very nice smaller dishes. Friendly staff and good value. A bit rough interior, but works. Good toilets.
D. I.
The food is just okay I'm afraid and the service wasn't that great either. There are much better restaurants in London.
R. H.
Fabulous food and service. One of the best restaurants I’ve eaten in for a while.
H. W.
Busy restaurant in the city with an excellent value set lunch for £15 during July and August. Make sure you book.
M. H.
Lovely birthday lunch. The food and the hospitality was amazing. They even charged our phones. Recommended.
p. g.
Food was amazing and desert couldn't ask for any thing more staff were great. Maid you feel very welcome
S. H.
Lovely atmosphere and location. Food was nicely presented but a little bland.
D. S.
Right for the price, but nothing spectacular. Simple food done very well
A. G.
We deserve something like this in SE1, good food, and great service stands out. Despite appearance is very casual. Becoming a regular for us now...
M. B.
Brilliant staff and brilliant food had a brilliant aniversary
K. P.
First time of visiting this amazing restaurant and The food was absolutely amazing, and the staff where very friendly 👌❤️
A. C.
Good Italian cuisine restaurant. Food was really tasty, generous and well cooked. Not the cheapest, but I'd go back
P. L.
We went for a bday dinner. The food was excellent and the atmosphere fantastic.
R. M.
Lovely variety of food. Reasonably priced. The basement bar is nice for a pre dinner drink,
F. T.
Their tiramisu is to die for. Their mains are okay, nothing special in my opinion. But the quality is still there, and the staff are friendly.
L. H.
Lovely food but need a translator to dumb down the menu so I actually know what I'm about to order
J. J.
Fantastic bar tender, cute space with unique cocktails in the Olive Grove downstairs, amazing food. Worth the cash!
L. S. G.
Divine cocktails, delicious food and excellent service. Loved it. And I'm not easy to please!
C. G.
Great food, I had the gnocchi and a pork chop, great flavor, fresh ingredients. Great service
K. L.
Food is horribly when wrong and we finished it . Is awesome foods but seriously the service is no good.
N. B.
Sophisticated menu, great desserts
C. R.
The food was very well cooked and the service exceptional. It's also a very nice space.
