Reviews of Browns Covent Garden
M. S.
I had a lovely lunch here with a friend. The staff were bustling but attentive. If you prefer plant-based/vegetarian or vegan, just ask for their separate menu. There are some great options. The cocktails and homemade juice creations were fabulous.

I've visited other branch's of Brown's previously and have also thought it was in line with the price point.
However today's experience was amazing! I visited for mother's day and shared the Chateaubriand with my wife; the presentation was great and the flavour was superb.
My children also enjoyed their choices and the service was very good.
There is no doubt I will be returning to this restaurant

Sunday lunch was very tasty but service and quality control were lacking.
Our meals came quickly which was nice but neither had roast potatoes. We waited a moment in case they were coming in a separate bowl - they weren't - before then flagging a waiter who had some get brought over but without any particular apology. We saw another table have the same issue during our stay. The staff are polite and the experience went generally well, but it did feel a bit like the kitchen was letting the front of house down. For this reason we asked for the service charge to be taken off, which it was without issue.
Toilets are down a stone spiral staircase, not sure if they have an accessible toilet. Lots of the tables require traversing steps to be seated at.
A lot of good #alcoholfree options on the menu including a lovely lychee soda.

Visited the Covent garden site for my daughter's 16th birthday. Service was good, food was lovely, a few things were unavailable, but didn't detract from a fantastic time, staff were friendly, all sang happy. Our server was Maria and she was brilliant. Would definitely go again.
S. M.
The website allowed me to book afternoon tea at 1 pm but when we showed up they told us they only served afternoon tea after 3pm. That was a bit weird but we stayed and had the vegetarian Nut Sunday Roast - as meats were not halal.
But food was great and so was service. No complaints except wish they would make it clear on website when reserving that afternoon tea is only open certain times.
J. W.
Lovely atmosphere, great food and service! Visited twice within the last month and both times thoroughly enjoyed it!

I went to Brown's for the 1st time yesterday and the service I received was amazing. I got served by an amazing waiter called Jon, who was very friendly and professional, and helped to make it very enjoyable experience. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the food so much that I'm looking to go again.
L. C.
The waiters were very nice but considering it wasn't very busy, they weren't particularly attentive. Our drinks came out a long time after our food arrived which I've never experienced before. We wanted to have dessert but after our plates were cleared we were ignored so eventually we got the bill and left. Food was good but nothing special. Virgin cocktails were really good, just a shame about the wait.
P. B.
Dined her on a Friday evening, before seeing a show nearby.
The service was on the slow side, the food was not hot (luke-warm at best) - which did affect our eating experience. The setting felt a little crowded. However, the dessert and drinks were good.
Given the slow service and food (not hot) the price does seem on the high side.

A good meal at Brown's. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was tasty. It was busy with a nice atmosphere and buzz. Only giving four stars as one of my colleagues was vegetarian, there wasn't much choice for him and he didn't enjoy his meal. More choice of lower fat and vegetarian options would be a great idea.

We love visiting Browns as a special treat when we are in London to see a show. This visit was not as good as we have encountered at previous visits. Service was slow and didn't feel staff were very attentive. We were there two hours and in that time only had a main meal. Took ages to arrive. We didn't have time for dessert as we wouldn't have made it to our show on time. The bill came quickly though! Food generally was good, if a little pricey.
M. G.
Lovely food & wine. We ordered a bottle of Shiraz which was decent, and I had the pork belly which was spot on 👌 really nice waitress who had good banter too! A great place to visit for an early-doors meal before catching a show at the theatre.
P. M.
Fabulous place. Lovely service, clean and welcoming environment and absolutely amazing food!
J. B.
It was okay. Let start with the positives about this place, the food was delicious and they portions were generous. I love a chocolate dessert and theirs didn't disappoint.
Now the negative was the serves was very slow, they missed out of my girls dessert. After making the staff aware, We wait for another 15 minutes and still no dessert. They did off my friend a free complimentary drink for not being given her dessert.
Also, if you are asked to put down a deposit make sure you check that they have taken off your bill as they didn't for me. They also didn't have it on the system so make sure you have your email from them hand. Just incase you been to prove it to them.
J. C.
I always enjoy a visit to Browns St Martins Lane. Classy place, but reasonable prices. Ask for the allergen menu at the reception desk if you need one to save a bit of time. Good choice of gluten free dishes. Smart service.
T. D.
Went there for afternoon tea with friends visiting London - wonderful service, very central location and impressive interior. Amazing selection of cocktails. We were a pretty complicated table - only 1 person had no dietary requirements or allergies and they dealt with everything superbly.
l. C.
NYE six course meal for £60. The food was lovely. We couldn’t manage the cheese and biscuits at the end. Brilliant value for money and in a beautiful setting. Thank you to all the hard working staff.
J. E.
The greeting host was very attentive and must have noticed me point to the "coeliac approved" sticker outside, as he handed me the gluten free menu before I had a chance to ask. The omelette came with a small amount of watercress and no bread, which was initially disappointing... however I would not have been able to eat anything else as it was so rich! A delicious way to start the day!
M. H.
Had a great lunch here on Mother's day.
The branch is a former Court building so there is a lot of space with unusual angles, nooks and crannies.
Service is very good, everyone is very helpful. Brown's are rightly known for their steaks. My wife and I enjoyed a fillet steak and a ribeye steak - both were delicious!
If steak is not your thing, Brown's do a wide range of fish, vegetarian and lobster dishes. Oh, and they do a number of roast dinners with Yorkshire pudding!
Everything you could possibly want.
J. B.
We made a fairly last minute booking and when we arrived felt like we had been put in the ‘cheap seats’. A tiny table with really uncomfortable chairs near a fire exit.
It was my birthday and it kind of took the shine off what was supposed to be a lovely treat from my daughter and sister.
The service wasn’t especially attentive and we had to wait a while for menu’s etc.
The food however was lovely and we enjoyed that very much.
I had been to the Ivy at Tower Bridge the weekend before and it was so warm and friendly, unfortunately I can’t say the same for my visit to Browns. It almost felt like we were being looked down on. Disappointing.
S. H.
Managed to get a table easy before going to the theatre. The restaurant is very large, lots of staff and has a good vibe. Food portions weren't great, and the mushroom Wellington was very dry,had to ask for gravy so was a little disappointed with the food
R. B.
Great place and location, wonderful and friendly staff and most of all very good selection of scrumptious food and drinks to match.
J. M.
A jolly, lively restaurant in St Martin's Lane. Good for pre-theatre dinner. Nice ambience, nice staff, good menu.
L. s.
Had a very tasty and filling meal last night. I had the beef and ale pie and mash which was delicious and for pudding had sticky toffee pudding with ginger ice-cream, absolutely amazing, I thoroughly enjoyed it as did all our little group. Would absolutely recommend and remember this place for the next time I visit London.
P. M.
Always excellent for a bottle of fizz before the theatre. I can never understand how bringing a bottle to a table, opening it and pouring a half-glass of champagne can cost nearly £6.00 on top of the cost of the champagne! Always enjoy the atmosphere though and the staff are always lovely.
T. G.
Really enjoyed Browns for my first visit. All food we ordered was superb & good value for centre of London.
Would have had 5 stars if we didn’t have to wait as long for first drink & also Bill was a bit wrong.
J. B.
We visited Browns in Covent Garden for my birthday Sunday lunch, the roast dinner was die for and the service was 5 star. We eat out a lot and it’s safe to say that Rico, is the best waiter you could ever ask for! He was so attentive and knew exactly what we needed before we even asked!!! I would come back here just for the service.
Thank you Rico!
G. Q.
Book ahead if you want any chance of having a meal. Can still have an impromptu cocktail at the bar even if you don't get a table. Recommend the espresso martini.
Update: tried to go back today, couldn't even get past the doorman. Happy to try again.
B. b.
Went for a quick drink but took longer to get served than drink it! Staff need to have better communication and sort out a more sufficient cocktail serving area to avoid customers been confused where to stand at the bar. Lovely place and would have given 5 stars, but due to the bar set up only a four for me.
j. d.
Great evening ! Great atmosphere! Love the music ! The staff were very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble! Food & wine good ! Excellent value for money ! Will be back !!
H. S.
Nice place with good atmosphere. However it was a bit cold and portion size was not great.
I. S.
Great environment for dining and people watching.
All the starters are wonderful.. especially the scallops!!!
S. C.
My wife and I came to Browns for my birthday lunch, and we weren’t disappointed from start to finish. We were greeted by Jason on arrival, and he showed us to our table. We were then looked after by Matthew and Ladine as our waiter and waitress. The food was excellent. But the experience was made exceptional, by the warm and friendly service from Ladine and Matthew. Thanks to you both, as you’re a credit to your restaurant. Sammy and Joanne.
J. N.
One of the best fish and chips money can buy. The service was exceptional.
A. P.
Absolutely beautiful. The service was okay. They seemed very busy so it was quite hard to order a refill of tea. But overall the food was amazing. Would recommend
J. B.
Sadly not the experience I had 3 weeks ago when I went with another group of friends. Almost felt like you were an inconvenience on this occasion. No checking food was OK. Had to ask for sauces etc. Table dirty, dessert menus given but no-one came back for around 2o mins. Was then told if you want dessert you will have to move table. We did....to another restaurant. Have been to and recommended Brown's on so many occasions. This time felt that there was very little interest and infact felt a very complacent attitude. Food was average not the standard it was on last visit. Thrown on the plate. Disappointed and hope that I can go back another day for a better experience.
D. K.
Excellent food, great gluten free options and good service. Portion sizes are a bit small and it could have been a bit quieter for our taste. Would definitely still return.
K. J.
Lovely friendly service. Didn’t love the calories next to the meals and wondered whether you could have a menu without calories (but you probably can’t). Delicious seasonal cocktails. Lovely!
P. H. (. m.
Ate here with friends for brunch. A fairly limited menu but chose the full English breakfast. Unfortunately it was mediocre at best. For the price I would have expected a little better quality and a bigger portion size. Nice tasting sausage though!...staff were I am afraid a little disappointing. One of the waitresses came across as fairly rude and when she got our drinks order wrong was clearly not happy when we told her. You need to have great customer service and I have been to other Browns restaurants before for lunch and dinner and had a good experience. This time I am afraid I was let down. Don't let this put you off visiting as it is a nice venue, just don't go for brunch and hopefully you will have a happy waitress!
S. H.
Your team are fantastic, everyone went out of their way (again) to make it an enjoyable experience. The food and drink selection is great and tastes delicious. Perfect special occasion for everyone. We will be back again
O. M.
Went down for brunch and had the best time. There was so much traffic so we called ahead and they held our table. The staff were courteous and very accommodating while the food was just amazing; across a party of 7 we had Omelettes, Vegetarian breakfast, and scrambled eggs with Salmon. I would definitely recommend a visit hence the 5 stars
J. A.
Had a Sunday dinner here, wasn't busy on arrival around 12 but certainly picked up so booking advisable. Food was good as was portion size, a bit more on the expensive side (about £20 for a roast)but it's to be expected based on location. Service was good, although became a little hectic as it got busier.
m. a.
Here I had a very lovely time with one of my close friend. Really chill place, sometimes difficult to catch staff's eye but that's because it was very busy. We made some good memories. Go with your besties!!
S. H.
Great waiting staff. Very attentive when needed. We didnt feel we were being rushed. We had drinks beforehand and the bar was a bit disorganised. Took a while to get served. Everyone seemed to be doing drinks for those at dinner. Someone needs to focus on bar customers and cleaning thectables in the bar area.
C. G.
Chose to eat at Browns as they have a gluten free menu. Was surprised by just how big this restaurant is. Opted for scallop starter followed by prawn and Devon crab rigatoni with a nice glass of Gavi. The pasta was pleasant but disappointing. The crab was so finely shredded I was thinking it was tinned rather than whole crab white meat, which rather spoilt the dish. I am aware that many restaurants are struggling staffewise after Covid, but service was very slow considering the restaurant was probably a third full and I felt staff were somewhat unattentive.
S. B.
Great food, prices and service.
The staff there were lovely and gave great recommendations. Will be coming back again.
k. g.
Food was good, most staff were really friendly and couldnt do enough for you.
M. G.
Had the GF breakfast, very nice, shame they didn't have sausages on it. Also ordered steak and eggs with straw fries and watercress salad...arrived without the fries and watercress...was told the fries weren't available...wasn't offered a substitute...but asked for GF toast which was provided. Toilets are downstairs, so if you have a mobility problem, you'll need to cross your legs! Ambiance was lovely, beautiful old building but service left a lot to be desired.
A. D.
Brown's drinks and cocktails are getting quite expensive. The staff keep pushing for table service which takes a while for your drinks to arrive rather than going to the bar. Browns is still a good place but the atmosphere here is more quiet and customers are more older than pre-covid19 lockdown. There is no longer any Happy Hour there too making it an relatively expensive place to drink. Avoid this place if you can find somewhere cheaper to eat and drink.
s. h.
Great service, helpful enthusiastic staff and excellent food.
L. W.
Great kerb appeal, helpful & happy staff, good vibes & ambience, brilliant range of great tasting cocktails & food. I chose Brown's because of my food intolerances & you didn't disappoint. I felt safe to order/eat knowing you are Coeliac accredited. My son told you it waa my birthday & the gluten free surprise pud was delightful as was several staff singing 'Happy Birthday' too. Everywhere was clean & welcoming. Keep doing what you're doing 👌
J. R.
I've dithered on this one - the beer is well-priced, the food is not expensive, and the rooms are laid out well. Only one barman is ridiculous, the wait to be served annoying. NO CASH ACCEPTED HERE!! If you plastered that loud on your website, it would make so much more sense. Don't want my money, that's okay, I won't return.
J. F.
Delightful waitress. All staff friendly. Food good. Served quickly as we had theatre tickets. Felt classy and efficient
F. P.
Clearly we didn’t opt for the traditional Christmas dinner, however what we had was British at it’s best. The chef did an absolutely splendid job in the kitchen and gave a classy meal to all who frequented Browns on Christmas Day.
Our waiter Alex he was exceptionally professional and attentive, but not in an overbearing way at all. He went the extra mile to make sure we were happy and contented.
Would most certainly recommend this venue for any event.
Always love Covent Garden as there is just so much to do in that area of West End and a nice point to take a brisk walk to other parts of West End if your so inclined.
S. B.
Recommend you book but lovely atmosphere friendly staff an good food
A. W.
Lovely lunch ... drinks and dessert a little pricey. Staff are happy, professional and welcoming. The environment is cheerful.
C. M.
Very nice ambience, service was poor though and as a adult family of 5 seated us possibly in the most uncomfortable table to dine at they had even though we booked online in advance.
The chicken & avocado salad had chicken bones in it and the chicken schnitzel was over cooked, mesls overall didn't stand up to the reviews we had read before booking.
Great location though.
B. B.
So it was our first time going to this restaurant and let me just say I was pretty impressed. Booked a table and we waited only 1 minute for the table to be prepared. We all loved the food as well as the dessert and I would love to thank the host and the rest of the staff for singing happy birthday for my mum. It was super sweet.
One little critcism wish my fish was cooked a little more (had fish and chips), however overall the experience was pretty good. Definitely recommend
E. C.
A bit too upmarket for my liking, where appearances matter more than taste. It was nice for our waitress to refill water without asking and checking on us. They were also very patient as we waited for more members of our party to arrive.
E. H.
The Menu and Wine options were superb, Browns is a brilliantly located and well presented brasserie, the staff were attentive and friendly, overall a brilliant dining experience.
T. B.
Dinner before a show, usual great choice from the menu. Swift and efficient service and our waitress Sadie was superb.
J. C.
Good service from Maria, took care of ournfood allergy/intolerance....checked and double checked (excellent). Good nice, good presentation. We had the Pork Belly, great little savoury apple pie....and Chicken Snitzel !! Good location just off Covent Garden
L. T.
Great service. Lovely roast dinner, great presentation. Fab cocktails. Highly recommend.
K. W.
The food was OK very expensive for some things. Waiter got the order wrong twice and upsold some food. Not a great vegetarian/ vegan option.
T. H.
Always a great place to pop in for a few and a bite to eat. Great atmosphere, food and drinks are very reasonable for the location.
S. A.
A posh pub in the heart of Covent Garden, table service with chefs taking note of how you’d like your dish to be cooked. A pleasant experience over Christmas. Booking during busy times is absolutely essential.
R. K.
Nice food and a large variety. Service was excellent. I loved the brownee desert
M. H.
Limited gluten free breakfast menu, took about 40 minutes for breakfast to arrive even with the place being empty.
M. L.
Liked it very much indeed, fantastic food, great service and excellent atmosphere 👌 😀 👍 👏
J. T.
Lovely food and staff, also really recommend the sour dough bread!
C. A.
Food was on point and service with a smile. Did not wait too long either considering it was packed. I had the Devon crab for starters which was nice and fresh and mains I chose lobster which was £30 very reasonable. I expected it to be small for that price but it wasn't it was a good size and succulent and it came with a garlic dressing! Def recommend. Finishes off with their home made profiteroles solo nice!
S. R.
Great food, great service, you just can't go wrong with Brown's. They consistently do a good job in all areas. My only trouble is with their online reservation site, they require a local English telephone number to make the reservation, not exactly tourist friendly.
B. F.
Risotto was very oily. Why must chefs use so much oil these days? Staff were excellent.
S. A.
Good food and excellent service
S. G.
Amazing service and great atmosphere. 2nd time visiting a Brown's restaurant and still pleased to have experienced the same level of great standard across both visits. Staff were great, attentive and so friendly and food was incredible. Will definitely be back again!
I.
Thanks to the whole team.
I've been to Browns many times and will go back very often.
I celebrated my birthday there in May.
It was a fantastic evening.
We loved the service, the food, the cocktails, the beer and the atmosphere.
A special thanks to our waitress, she did a great job.
Greetings to London, André sends from Germany.
I will see you again in December.
P. W.
We had a pre theatre meal at Browns before our show at the Noel Coward theatre which is just next door. We shared the baked Camembert which was delicious with the warmed bread. I had the fish and chips which were very nice and my fiancee has the prawn linguine which she enjoyed very much which was washed down with an excellent New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. The best however where the salted caramel profiteroles, they were to die for and quite frankly one of the best deserts I have eaten. Sorry there is no photo, there want time to eat these, we were enjoying ourselves too much. We didn't order from the theatre menu, but they have one if this is something you would like to have, with 2 or 3 course options. We decided the main menu gave us the choice we wanted and we were not disappointed. It was quite busy when we went so I would suggest booking, as with many places in theatreland, otherwise you could be watching your show hungry. Would go back again.
B. T. H.
The food was fresh and awesome. Then we also had dessert and that was really good as well. Great atmosphere with really nice people.
K. B.
Great place for lunch - the waitress was so helpful, and suggested cocktails we may enjoy, including a watermelon margarita which wasn't on the menu, but was delicious, to the extent we had two each! Will return when next in the area.
a. k.
All the staff were so lovely & really made the night. The reason for 3 stars is due to the food. It just wasn't very tasty, unfortunately. As the place is nice & was covid secure etc.
c. g.
Had Christmas dinner here . Our server was Maria. Lovely girl the service perfect. The food is incredible and the venue amazing. One visit not enough see you again soon .
B. N.
The delay for receiving the food was quite bad especially when we had pre theatre but the food eventually arrived and it was cooked nicely and waiting staff did their bit to get the service going. Due to the delay, we didn’t have enough time to enjoy the food but the food quality and the staff (with limited number of staff) did try the hardest.
G. J.
Great place, had afternoon tea as a family of 6. Lovely food not overly expensive though £6.50 for a lemonade was a bit steep!
J. M.
The waitress Maria was brilliant. Hard working and very helpful. Food was a bit slow but it was busy. But was lovely.
M. H.
Service wasn't great, but the food was good.
You don't hold out much hope for a place when the waiter starts writing your order on a napkin.
Mushroom starter on GF menu is not vegan, mushroom starter on the main menu is vegan so it's a bit confusing. They told our GF/dairy free friend that the mushrooms were cooked in cream, therefore not vegan... Eventually our friend got her starter as everyone else got there mains.
c. D.
Friendly staff, lively atmosphere and delicious food
I came in with my friends who were just visiting London and we all had an amazing experience. Its great for an evening with friends and family
M. B.
Not the best dining experience. I went with work friends and the restaurant was very busy. We ordered but after a longish wait, 5 meals arrived, but no sign of the other two. We had to ask and one meal arrived at after about 5 or 6 minutes, but the last one took at least another 10 minutes. Everyone else had finished by then, so overall, not much of a dining experience. We didn't feel disposed to order anything else.. After we complained, the service charge and the final delayed meal was removed from the bill. I don't think We will be rushing back to Browns based on this experience.
h. w.
The venue is lovely visually but it was loud & hard to hear each other (music and lots of hard surfaces). The service was unobtrusive and friendly enough.
We both ordered from the gluten free menu which we were impressed to see.
Unfortunately both our meals were disappointing. My pasta was tasty but simultaneously undercooked and claggy, very hard to swallow. My friend's chicken & burger were both very dry. Chefs need to understand that gluten free bread & pasta are naturally very dry & absorbent and need careful cooking, extra moist cuts of meat and extra sauce or oil.
If you can't adapt recipes to gluten free, maybe it's better not to offer it and we can make our own choice of naturally gluten free dishes
J.
Don’t let the grand facade set your expectations. The now dated venue, with cheap furniture and decor hasn’t aged well.
A basic and generic menu, with a chaotic service, makes this a less than memorable choice. It seemed to be filled with one time tourists, not knowing better.
S. W.
Very busy and very noisy. The food was nice, if you chose the right thing! My daughter and I did but my husband didn't. The puddings are overpriced for what you get.
D. C.
Comedy club upstairs. Excellent. Maisie Adams and Hal Cruttenden. Excellent.
Vibe Excellent. Pint of cider and a jack and coke £17.60. Comedy bar prices too
D. L.
Food was excellent - roast beef as Sunday roasts available. However, very busy as Rememberance Sunday so took 25 minutes before we got our drinks and 40 minutes for food with no warning. Staff really friendly and prices reasonable for London.
E. M.
Lovely old restaurant. Had the bacon and chicken club sandwich. It was very good, came with great fries. It's not cheap. Service was very good
E. O.
Browns is a safe option. I had a salad which was supposed to have avocado. It was there but not much. The salad was over dressed and the side I ordered never arrived. Wasn’t charged for the side so not a major issue more just an annoyance. Someone in my group had the fish pie and was very pleased with that. I’d stick to British staples if eating here. I’m sure they do the basics right.
P. P.
Always go here when staying in Covent Garden, excellent food and good range of drinks, cocktails excellent
N. R.
Great service and good value food and drink. Got very busy so recommend booking in advance. Eni did a great job accommodating our changing requirements, as we had booked for afternoon tea, which then became an early dinner, as everyone was hungry !
P. B.
Nice food at a reasonable price (for central London) and good service
E. M.
Good food and wine and not nearly as pricey as I'd anticipated. Service polite and friendly. However, the loo cubicles needed a thoroughly decent clean as there was dust everywhere.
K. M.
Perfect from start to finish, great staff, food and atmosphere! Very friendly towards our toddler too. Love this place!
s. o.
Nice decor, good location. Service good. Food okay. Portions tiny for the price (grilled salmon)
J. L.
Dinner at 5:30pm. I booked a table for six few days before and upon arrival I was greeted and they found my booking and was shown to a lovely quiet table at the back. Lovely view and interior. However I found the service was slow and it wasn’t too busy Sunday evening and having four different staff pass by I had to ask we ordered drinks about 15mins ago. Cocktails are amazing. By 6:30pm the place got busy which is likely what caused the food to come out pretty late? though good portion, not the best presentation, taste ok but didn’t wow me. This doesn’t stop me coming to Browns in the future as I had really good experience with Browns in Bath so maybe it was just the day and time this round.
R. W.
Excellent food and well worth the wait at busy times. Hospitable staff and booking well organised. Rather noisy on Saturday evening from the customers at the bar and other diners talking over the loud music
Q. S.
Brown's is a really lovely place if you're looking for a more posh bar night with friends over a spread of next level bar food and a pretty exhaustive drink menu to find your way through.
we had a group of six and were able to walk right in and be seated in a bar booth on a friday night without reservations. you will have to approach the bar to place your order for food and drinks but you'll have waiter service for clearing the table at the appropriate times.
the atmosphere is jovial with the perfect ambiance for spirited conversation over delicious food. the wings were my favorite and the fresh garlic on the fries have been on my mind in the days that followed.
if you're in covent garden on a bank holiday weekend with a large group of friends you won't be sorry to have spent the evening at Browns. the prices are very reasonable and the food is top notch, for sure leagues above standard bar food.
we had wine, cocktails, soft drinks and water. all were to our liking.
N. C.
Lovely place, servers were pleasant and attentive. Food was delicious.
P. R. (.
Visited this place to enjoy one of the 99 club's comedy events, so I can only really comment on the bar, which was great. A wide variety of drinks at reasonable enough (for London standards anyway) prices. Staff were friendly and happy to point us in the right direction, although I assume they are well used to confused northerners by now!
The comedy event was in a function room upstairs which was a lovely room perfectly suited for it!
G. D.
Had an amazing Sunday roast here. Food was great. Good atmosphere and moderately priced. Would recommend.
r. h.
Excellent food, 5 star service. Victor and Leo provided excellent service and made our visit truly special.
P. D.
One vegan option in 2022. Starter was bland but main was nice (you'd hope considering there was one). In general the whole place needs a revamp, it feels very dated.
S. K.
I used to come often few years ago,so I was expecting same great Service and food.
Service was ok
Food was average and portion small.
Cocktails were great like before.
So to sum up a disappointment!
K. W.
A favourite. Reliably good food. Delicious cocktails. Nice buzz, if a bit noisy.
R. B.
Great respite from the ubiquitous chain stops in Covent Garden. Standard British fare, including steaks, sandwiches, pies, and decent starters. Everything was prepared quickly and well, at a reasonable price.
Service was friendly and attentive. Good spot for a date or a meet-up with friends.
M. L.
Upscale chain, big portions and better than average quality food. Service is good and ambience not too crazy for a West End venue.
C. D.
Fabulous service and they accommodated a large group of us. They were able to provide decent vegan options and we had a great evening.
G. E.
Capital city branch. I expected a quality experience and got it. It is a chain so no 5 stars
C. B.
Great staff, good food, very busy so good atmosphere and very unhurried, which was how we wanted it. Thank you.
S. A.
Really tasty pre-theatre dinner. The beet salad was good, baked salmon delicious, and the chocolate bomb amazing! Very busy.
M. R.
My family and I went to Browns Covent Garden for fathers day. The food and service was amazing every step of the way! We got bread and olives to start which were very good. I opted for the Guinness Steak Pie which was to die for ! My Father got the pork belly which he said was the best pork belly dish he has ever had ! The waiter catered to our every need and we had a lot of fun with him. He suggested an awesome red wine for us. Would highly highly reccomend Browns Covent Garden.
C. F.
Saturday evening meal for 2: great atmosphere, buzzing and attentive efficient staff! Meal OK.
J. S.
Food was OK. But for me overpriced. Very noisy, disappointing not to have any vinegar in the place!
S. C.
Good points - decent maitre d', fairly attentive waiter service (although clearly more excited by larger tables...), food generally OK
Less good:
Cartilage in the chicken breast
When I mentioned this to the waiter he said he would speak to the kitchen. He came back and said basically it's impossible that there was. I wasn't too fussed but disappointed by the response
r. *.
Awful customer service from some of waiters but 2 waiters were good, some items missing during afternoon tea and when requested missing items like sugar staff seemed put out
C. G.
Fantastic! Great ambience, great food and very reasonably priced, would definitely recommend
C. N.
Love brown's only downside they didn't accept cash . Some do some don't they need to get back to normal.
A. E. Y.
Had a lovely meal with friends here. The food is good and so are the drinks. But what makes it super? The people at Browns. Did I also mention that the pricing is competitive?
P. E.
Leo was excellent amazing food great service, quality from start to finish. Thank you
K. P.
Good location in St Martin's Lane near to Leicester Square. The service was excellent and food and drink good quality and value for money. Nice decor and atmosphere - a very enjoyable evening
l. b.
Had a smashing pre-theatre meal. Meals were really tasty and well presented, lovely service from lady that took our drinks order. An equally cheery but professional Albanian head waiter added to the enjoyment of the occasion . Bravo Browns and thank you.
M. J.
Spent a lovely afternoon with a friend catching up on girlie gossip and enjoying the sunshine.
The fish and chips were lovely - was a bit weary when our meals arrived and the batter looked really dark/burnt, but it was fine, accompanied by a nice glass of wine 😊.
Got a reply this morning (24/9/2021) from owners regarding food, just to confirm, the batter looked very dark, but was fine (as stated in my original post), so no problem at all 😊. Will definitely go back.
M. P.
Super service and nice selection of classic dishes to suit everyone.
M. H.
Service was very good, food was very nice and not overly expensive
A. M.
Great experience. 5 or even 6 stars for our server Eva, huge knowledge and skills, she perfectly recommended wines for our lunch. It's a real pleasure to be served in such an extremely professional and courteous manner. Thank you Eva! I highly recommend
D. H.
Overall we were a litlle disappointed having seen good reviews.
Firstly we had booked well in advance with a soecific request for a table at the edge of ghe dining area. While I appreciate that it is stated requests cannot always be fulfilled it was a shame with such notification that this request was not met or even acknowledged.
The wine we chose was not available so we chose an alternative but when we asked for a second bottle this was no longer available!
The starters while incredibly tasty were luke warm and not hot as expected. We had lobster as a main course and this was exceptional.
Unfortunately wd can leave no comment on deserts as by ghe time we had caught the waiters attention it was time to go to ghe theatre!
Finally would add that several waiters were walking around with food not knowing who had ordered it.
Overall a little disappointing with the service needing to be sharper.
R. M.
WoW, simply WoW
Service was superb (thanks to Maria, she was off the chart), food was amazing (pork belly 😋), I cannot recommend highly enough ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
L. M.
Great food
Clean and comfortable restaurant
Lovely friendly staff
C. C.
Lovely friendly place. Service is outstanding and food was just amazing.
D. C.
Upon being seated we noted that all of the glasses on our table were not particularly clean, we therefore expected the meal to also be a let down but we were pleasantly surprised. The service was also very good.
V. P.
Staff were very helpful, lovely menu just for gluten free diners.
J. B.
Food quite good, service OK. Not a great experience but really not bad. Won't rush back. With the amount of restaurants in the area not special enough.
m. w.
Love Brown's, always come here when in London. Food excellent, great venue and not too hard on the wallet
A. N.
One of my favourite placed to eat when in London. Great menu, excellent drinks and always fantastic service.
D. M.
Brilliant night in Brown's. Food was fantastic and our waiter was really helpful and charming. Despite several items being sold out, we all (there were 9 of us) were well looked after and had great food and service.
J. J.
Had a very lovely Afternoon Tea, on my latest visit - good tasty food again!
I. B.
Was recommended this place for great Sunday roast, but sadly didn't live up to hype......... one slice of thick cut beef a little chewy, some roast just warm and Yorkshire pudding lacked any seasoning to be fair it was packed and staff although very good were rushed off feet
V. F.
I popped in on the off chance and had a great experience. Rico was attentive but non-intrusive- a perfect balance of service. The food was good & a reasonable choice on the wine list. A lovely experience & would highly recommend it on my experience there.
J. B.
Absolutely fantastic, good gluten free menu, great food and helpful and polite staff. Thank you.
S. C.
Enjoyable Pre-theater atmosphere. Diverse menu, lovely drinks, and tables where you and your guests can enjoy lively private conversations.
s. m.
Great food and drink. Professional service. Sensible prices
A. W.
A couple of items on the set menu were unavailable - disappointing as we weren't eating late
P. K.
Grest food. Very good service and comfortable surroundings.
D. P.
Great food and very good service,

I will be back !

I attended an event here. Very lovely room and the service was brilliant. I had afternoon Tea and although the scones were a bit hard the res velvet cake was heavenly
l. C.
Always nice to go back to Browns. Tasty and reasonable priced cocktails.👍
A. D.
No English mustard to go with the pork crab had no taste my 4th time at this resturant only bad experience
N. S.
Service not really up to normal standard adult food good child burger not great.
W. H.
Lovely atmosphere
Great food
Excellent service
S.
Went before going to the theatre fantastic meal as always. We love the salted caramel profiteroles it's just a shame they don't do the large shard of caramel on top like they used to.
S. S.
Great to be back in Browns. Apart from a bit of confusion re our groups booking (which got sorted) everything was spot on. Thanks Browns
J. R.
Maria served us and was a star. Lots of personality and very attentive. Her cousin also made us feel very welcome! Well done ladies well deserved very positive feedback for you, the service and food.
n. R.
Very good service a gluten free menu
P. i. K.
Nice atmosphere. Good food at reasonable prices.
C. G.
Not a huge amount of veggie mains, but what they do have is always really nice! Good service & food
l. b.
Awesome food and excellent service. Great place to grab a bite to eat before enjoying a show at nearby theaters.
R. F.
Efficient friendly service with a reasonable food range and good range of drinks. Very knowledgeable and interesting South African waiter on last visit. Great conversations.
D.
Beautiful tea room / restaurant! It's got a nice setting, the staff is friendly, the afternoon tea is delicious and affordable. Would definitely recommend!
S. W.
No fuss to seat us outside which is a rarity in this age of any excuse to not serve food or drink. Decent atmosphere and good location. Only had drinks, there was a good selection of beers and wines.
L. T.
Family get together very enjoyable meal and great service
D. S.
Nice food, but really slow service
T. R.
The food was a little too cool by the time it got to our table, however, our waiter was fantastic
J. B.
Welcoming, subtle lighting ambience, nice staff. Good food and drinks
H. H.
We came for a pre-theatre birthday meal and had a great time. The food was top notch and the service from Angela and Oli was excellent. Would definitely recommend to others!
E. W.
Thank you Amera! Lovely food, drinks, and service!
s. s.
Good food and great service. Warm and friendly atmosphere.
P. H.
We hadn't booked but there was plenty of room for our lunchtime visit. Staff very helpful and attentive. We opted for starters only which were ample and delicious.
D. M.
Fabulous breakfast to start the day. Excellent friendly staff. Good value for money and will definitely return next time we're in London.
R. C.
Set in the old law courts this restaurant has a heap of character and reasonably priced (and very tasty) food. Perfect for pre theatre dinner or a catch up with friends or family.
P. H.
The service was very good however the food was not as good as it has been in the past a bit of a let down this visit.
M. D.
Good food, good service, nice atmosphere
A. A.
Great food and dessert. Nice place to get together with your friends.
A. M.
Fantastic restaurant and fantastic staff!
With a great and varied menu, plus the beautiful surroundings and relaxing atmosphere this restaurant is surely a must!
My daughter took me for lunch before the theatre last week as a birthday treat, and our food was delicious.
From the moment we were shown to our table, all the staff were friendly, welcoming and very polite.
Extra special thanks to Carina from the Management Team and the staff responsible for posting some items we left behind, and realised just as we were about to catch our train home!
We phoned the restaurant and despite being very busy the staff found time to locate the items and returned them to us.
Excellent customer care!
T. W.
Food was lovely, great atmosohere and the staff were lovely ,really enjoyed it
T. S.
Great place to look down on the hustle and bustle of the market with a relaxing drink on a busy Saturday
T. C.
Visited as a large group for a Christmas meal after a Saturday matinee show. We were early and were directed towards the bar area which was HEAVING so this wasn't the best idea for our group and if you value your personal space this isn't for you It was also very loud Were seated earlier than planned. Plenty of waiting staff who were attentive enough. Food was tasty and the arrival of the dishes went pretty smoothly. Toilets are down stairs so not very accessible, and one of the door locks wasnt working.
Overall a great evening out, and I would go back
R. B.
fantastic vibe, excellent cocktails and food served by a great team that are friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable
x. -.
Had an extremely elegant and delicious dinner at this restaurant. The staff were excellent and presented good humour. Definitely will be back !
T. G.
Went here on recommendation from a work colleague. We were not disappointed exceptional service and breakfast.
D. S.
Bit noisy, not particularly welcoming on arrival and cocktails were weak and expensive - London for you!
M. M.
Fantastic venue, great food and drinks. Service was spectacular, friendly, courteous, everything you could want when popping in on the odd chance on a busy Saturday afternoon.
M. M.
Friendly service, but getting a bit slow as the evening went on. Food was good, but not outstanding.
S. H.
Lovely atmosphere and the food was great, very helpful and friendly staff, will visit again
T. B.
Amazing food! Also the cocktails are divine. Lovely calm atmosphere and the staff were very friendly
M. B.
Very good Restaurant in Covent Garden/Leicester Square. Good food choice and reasonable prices (for London). Good service also.
P. B.
Very friendly place with an excellent waiter.
C. C.
Only had a lunchtime drink but sat for a while before anyone asked us to place an order.
L. M. (.
Nice, friendly staff. Nice ambiance. However, the food is something to be desired
F. K.
Unfortunately the service wasn't the usual high standard I've come to expect from Browns, my group of friends were disappointed. They weren't that busy either.
M. P.
Lovely restaurant with delicious food and impeccable service
T. D.
Amazing service and food
M. B.
My boyfriend and I visited 12 July and had an excellent experience. We were hosted by a lovely Ghanaian lady called Angela. She was very patient amd knowledgeable about the menu choices and very attentive.
By the way- the food was awesome too!!
R. D.
Food is great and good value. Mel our main waitress was so nice. Will definitely be back.
M. D.
Fab food Went on a theatre deal Good value Food was fab
M. H.
I love Brown's. The menu is just large enough to give choice without becoming overwhelming. The quality of the food itself is really very good. Even the coffee is good. Service is excellent. Only drawback with this particular branch is that it does get extremely loud whereas other venues I have been to manage to limit the volume.
A. S. C.
Nice place. I like the decor and layout of this venue. They've made an old courtroom look quite stylish and classy. The staff and food also compliment the place fairly well.
Note: If you have trouble with stairs you can ask to be seated at a table on the ground floor if available, otherwise there is a lift that many don't seem to notice.
J. B.
Disappointed on our latest visit. Food was not up to usual standards, and service slow despite making it clear to staff we had a theatre booking.
F. W.
Matteo was fantastic. Will definitely come back
M. V.
Nice drinks. Service was a bit slow
A. M.
Good food at reasonable prices but the service was a bit slow.
G. H.
Nice afternoon tea, not too pricey. Great value and friendly staff.
J. C.
It was incredibly busy, and the service started a bit average. But the food was better than expected and the waiter really opened up when we forced him to talk.
It's medium priced, but the food is worth the price.
Prices range from approx £12 - £17 for standard mains, or you can go for steaks which go for £25+.
I had the steak and Guinness pie. The steak was awesome, but I would have like a better pie topping - although the actual visual on the topping was awesome.
D. J.
This is a lively cocktail bar and bistro.
There are numerous tables for dining although on my visit I didn't eat so cannot comment on the quality of the food nor range of the menu. However, all the tables seemed to be full and this was at 7 pm.
Although the bar is quite long the standing space is somewhat limited, but there are tables near the bar. However, these were all full when I arrived.
The bar staff are pretty efficient, and the range of cocktails on offer is impressive. The actual mixing of the cocktails is something of a show in itself. Very entertaining.
There is also a limited range of bottled craft beers as well as usual suspects on draft.
Price wise about standard fir central London.
I enjoyed my visit and would return.
S. P. O. D.
We've photographed some events at this venue - love the space, love the atmosphere, love the interior design. Highly recommend it!
L. O.
Breakfast at Browns is a great start to the day! The food was excellent along with the service. We arrived early so it was nice and quiet. Our waitress was really lovely and attentive. We often visit the Covent Garden restaurant and we're never disappointed. Thanks!
K. a. P.
My husband and I had a lovely meal. The service was wonderful, lovely staff!
We would definitely recommend this place the food was very tasty. The menu was vast but not over complicated and the general layout was very comfortable.
C. K.
Fantastic food great place to enjoy traditional British food . I had sirloin steak and chunky chips with pepper corn sauce , with truffle oil and parmesan cheese on the chips . Delicious 😋
S. B.
Fantastic venue for food and drinks. Staff are friendly, service was fantastic and the food was lovely!
e. 1.
Always a great time had and convienient for theatre.
S. D.
Really great food and aesthetic and staff. Our waitress was really helpful. We had melted camembert for starters which was divine. I had a salmon and prawn fish pie for main and my wife had the fish and chips. Both were fantastic and piping hot and the service was quick. Really recommend.
R. B.
Not overly impressed. The service was basically non existent. It took us awhile before anyone saw us waiting to come in. I had a privilege card (which at the event I was at, was advided it would have £20) on it. I asked the girl who was seating us could we check and make sure as well as it being in date. I was advised they don't go out of date that this would be fine. The food was average and I'm pretty sure my pancakes had a garlic taste to it. Then time to pay and I was advised I needed to set up my card (why I was not told at the press event I'm not sure) and that it wouldn't have the amount I thought and it would take 24hrs to come through. Overall it was a waste of our money. Not worth it.
I. F.
I was suppose to be there for a friends birthday lunch but my companions were so late I had to make do with drinks. That and being entertained by a very theatrical bartender so I was quite happy. I particularly enjoyed the alcohol lite g&t. They came three flavours my favourite was the ginger and orange which sounds awful but turned out rather tasty. Maybe next time I will get to enjoy the food.
G. M.
Food and service excellent, but the whole evening it was very chilly, we moved tables three times to be near the heating which at times seemed to blow cold air, this did spoil our dining experience i am sorry to say. I have dined here many times and not had this problem.
D. G.
Had the lobster risotto. The rice was under cooked. Lacked any real flavour. Dessert was very nice on the other hand. Mojito was average. Good attentive service. Wouldn't go back. The other 3 in my party had similar thoughts on their food. Main course lacking, dessert very good.
H. U.
A pleasant meal, service was very slow taking over 30 minutes to take our order but was speedily delivered after then.
C. L. b.
Came for lunch with my mother and niece, Angela, our server was incredibly professional and friendly, was careful to ask about allergies and made us feel very welcome. The food was out of this world as was the price!! Would definitely recommend. :)
k. G.
The atmosphere was nice and lively when we got there (6pm), which undoubtedly included many who were on their way to the theatre.
The food was good and reasonably priced considering that it was in the heart of the West End.
The staff were friendly and helpful. All in all a very good place to go and would like to go again.
G.
Quick friendly good value good atmosphere good food nice setting.
F. C.
Lunch before the theatre. Lovely historic building, good menu range, lovely team serving. Would recommend
i. M.
Absolutely love Brown's, always try to book a table when we're in Town
C. F.
Lovely food and good service.
Portion size ok the vegetarian roast was much smaller than the meat equivalent
M. M.
Nice menu but a little overpriced for quality. We enjoyed our meal but not quite cooked to perfection. I've had better elsewhere for less. Enormous restaurant with diners squeezed into every possible space which meant getting bumped into even by the staff. A nice evening but won't be rushing back.
A. F. P.
Beautiful restaurant. Super busy. Dairy free option wasn't great, just ok. Had my meal without sauce ( it contained dairy) but no replacement was offered, not even olive oil. Additionally some ingredient was missing on my plate.
My plate was delivered few minutes after ALL my friends were already eating.
C. B.
Lovely little pre gig bite to eat at bar. Lovely staff. Poor selection of white wines.
P. H.
Great service and friendly attentive staff, a good mix of food available and able to accommodate a large group of 12 with no problem. One member of our group wasn't eating and they had no problem with this. Looks classy but relaxed inside. The food was well presented and tasty.
K. Y.
Nice restaurant with good food. Staff was very friendly, though seemed stressed. Amazingly, our server said that this wasn't even the busy season. Our server forgot to bring dessert, so we just skipped it, as the staff stress level already seemed high. Understaffed and stressed employees seem to be the MO of UK restaurants.
A. B.
EDITED: Previous post was wrong place (oops!). This restaurant was lovely. Chilled yet sophisticated atmosphere. The service could have been a bit quicker, however there were some very challenging customers who were very rude to staff so we did not mind waiting. Definitely recommend for everything from family meal to romantic date ;)
V. B.
Excellent place to eat and lovely staff
J. S.
The food was lovely. I had the crab linguine which was smooth and creamy as I'd like it. The waiter was very helpful, especially when I knocked over a glass of beer like a numpty. The house wine in a large glass was waaaay too expensive though. I suppose I should've asked first so keep your ears out on the prices of the wines.
J. B.
Reliable and large menu. Great if you're vegetarian. Slow service both at the bar and table but overall a great place to come in central London. Beer is predictably expensive and not much on tap.
S. I.
Very busy restaurant for good reason; reasonable prices, varied menu, pleasant 1920s style surroundings. Whilst busy, the eating arrangements make it reasonably intimate (rather than a food hall). The excellent waiters are well trained and make the visit very pleasant. This establishment clearly understands hospitality and that a hard earned reputation can easily be lost if standards are allowed to slip. Trip to the loo has steep steps (unless there are others).
C. H.
Had a lovely meal last night, the service was fantastic Maria was lovely couldn't do enough for us definitely come back
S.
Small portions and linguine was watery, tasted quite bland. Nice place but the food didn't meet my expectations.
M. J.
I enjoy the ambiance and the food is usually good. Will often pop into Browns if I'm in the area with friends and we fancy a quick bite, the menu has something for everyone although on the day we visited the vegetarian menu was not available which was a pain as one of our party was a veggie.
G. O.
Came here with my wife on our anniversary before we went to the theatre. Food was delicious, duck liver pate for starters followed by Browns burger. Service was excellent. Would definitely recommend and come back.
G. H.
Lovely place superb food and perfect service.
D. H.
Greg was such a great waiter, I believe he was the only one by the looks of it. Greg was very attentive and also a lady who looked like the manager was a great host. Covid secure, I will be back soon xx
N. K.
We have just had breakfast here this morning and what a fantastic breakfast it was. Also the waitress was so lovely and wished my wife a happy birthday with a hug and brought out a plate with a profiterole with a candle in it with Happy birthday written on the plate. Definitely be back soon
J. S.
Very busy on a Saturday evening for pre/post theatre visits. Buzzy atmosphere, cheerful and efficient waiting staff. Our waitress was a delightful young woman. Food was predictably good. Our only complaint was that it was a bit cold and draughty. We asked to move tables, and the manager obliged, but tbh it was no better. This is an ongoing problem apparently so something for the company to sort out rather than restaurant staff! Would I go again? Yes.
C.
Great pre-theatre dinner - food and drinks were delicious (the slow-cooked pork was incredible), and fantastic service and recommendations from our waitress Maria!
R. c.
We are long standing customers and attended on 3rd August for pre theatre meal. The restaurant was extremely busy and the service was affected by this. Cutlery and glasses not being present! However the meal was fine but as we were leaving one of the front of house staff said to my wife as she tried to decend the stairs “hey you looked stuffed”. Such a comment left us both speechless and we left in disbelief. So not only was the service poor but we endured an insult as well! Not good.
L. E.
Busy, but this added to the ambience. Very efficient well oiled machine. Service is polite, quick, efficient. Food well cooked, tasty and nicely presented. You would be hard pressed to fault this place. A resounding success.
S. J.
Although I was only at the NHW seminar, I would love to come back for a meal some time. Looked like a great place to eat. Amazing surroundings and was very impressed with the presentation of the tables, a real feeling of quality!
A. S.
One of the best pub/restaurants that we visited in London. we met another couple with two little babies and the staff was so friendly! Food is also great. this establishment is located in the heart of the Covent Garden so it's really nice to go for a pint and steak after a stroll in the market itself. I would recommend this place for any visitor in this area ;) thanks for the lovely experience!
Q. Y.
Pre- theatre dining. Restaurant provides a limited menu of quickly available dishes at fixed price. Service suitably prompt. Unfortunately the Open Table reservation was not on the restaurant system; fortunately they had space. Food was well cooked and presented. Coffee was cold.
L. H.
Had a wonderful evening here 7th September, food was so tasty. Were served by Angela M who made us feel so special. Lovely lady, had Happy Birthday sung by 5 waiters/waitresses made my evening complete.
L. P.
Cocktails very nice and setting/atmosphere also lovely. Fish pie had rather fatty salmon in it and was sloppy but friends liked their risotto. Bar staff lovely but waiting staff ignored us. Also my friend saw a mouse right near our table. This place is ok but don't go for a special occasion.
N. H.
Good food and great ambience
P. H.
Service by Alex and the guy who was only on his second day was absolutely perfect (Sorian?? - sorry I asked his name but forgot). Drinks order took promptly and water offered by both. Food arrived in good time and steak was cooked exactly as requested, please pass my thanks to the chefs!
Further drinks were offered by the servers and arrived promptly, just as were the tasty desserts and obligatory after dinner espresso martinis. From booking the table through the app to paying quickly, everything was flawless and as a diner going to the theatre, this is much appreciated and noted. Highly recommended for a formal restaurant experience.
E. R.
The atmosphere was really welcoming and friendly, if a little noisy! All the waiters were keen to help you and the food tasted great. This is a brilliant place to stop off after a trip into London!
m. l.
A very London place to eat either before or after a show. Do reserve a table via their website, as it can be busy. There is a good buzz in the restaurant with lectures and talks upstairs. Food and service is good for the price. Do go, it's worth it!
L. B.
It was ok for afternoon tea. Three tiny brioche filled rolls, and no other savouries whatsoever!!! Scones were not bad but other cakes were less than average and the mousse was room temp not chilled. On the upside the venue was lovely ...apart from my broken chair ( which was kindly swapped with the table next to ours .... and was still there when we left😂😂😂) and without being told I knew as soon as I went to the loos downstairs they were used as the cells as the atmosphere was very dark and I could clearly feel spiritual activity down there!!! For me as a spiritualist it was by far the best part of the visit!!!!
J. D.
The food here is to die for.. Cooked perfectly.. The flavours were truly delicious.. I cannot tell you how much the staff made our night so special. Thank you all so very much for a very memorable evening. We can't wait until next time. 😊 XxX
M. L.
We had a decent breakfast here. The pancakes were not very good, weird and chewy, but the fish dish was very tasty, as was the pancetta that came with the pancakes. Service was good - our waiter was very hospitable.
C. M.
Met the parents here for pre-dinner drinks. Really nice ambience- great place for a catch up and a chat- plenty of seats and decent drinks. Pleasantly surprised by the cocktails- £5 on selected cocktails all day every day, wasn't really expecting much from a chain but they were strong and used high quality spirits. I'll definitely be back- might eat next time too as the menu looked delicious!
R. I.
Great atmosphere, large premises, huge selection of drinks with a good selection of cocktails, masterfully mixed while you wait. Food is also served, but I've never got past the bar!
Brown's can get very busy on Friday nights when the local workers drag themselves away from their shackles and start celebrating the weekend with a few beverages.
It's a good place to have a few drinks.
R. W.
We've eaten here in a few occasions Ms every time I'd better that the rest. The service is fantastic. The staff are switched on! Very knowledgeable and great craic. The food and drinks are awesome too. Can't recommend it enough!
L. J.
We had dinner with our daughter and son in law. We were celebrating my birthday. Had a super evening. Very nice waiting staff.
Very nice buzzy atmosphere. Very extensive menu.
Highly recommended.
A. S. W.
To begin with, could they PLEASE use toilet signs made of something other than paper. This is supposed to be a respected institution, but here we are listening to jazz adaptations of overplayed current radio hits. On the upside, their food was reasonable given the price and the prosecco was a delight. Service was on point until we were served our main course while our starters were unfinished and were taken away from us while we had to wait for cutlery after that.
Lovely ambience and classy interior architecture but can improve on service and original jazz music (not mainstream pop)...And we are 22 years old 😒 Other than that, amazing place and amazing service!
S. B.
Lovely evening here great food and atmosphere.

Enjoyed our team Christmas lunch here, the food was good, though the salmon didn't have a crisped skin and they chose to shred the sprouts. It's a characterful venue inside, not just one big square or rectangular shaped room, and there's a nice long bar. Inevitably there were annoying 'suit boyz' being a bit loud and irritating by the bar later on, but the atmosphere was good.

I enjoyed a pre-theatre dinner here. The restaurant was packed, as was the bar. The main menu is extremely varied with a good range of prices. The pre-theatre menu had enough choice to cater for any tastes. The staff are polite and efficient, the food is beautifully presented, piping hot and extremely delicious.
At no point during my visit did I feel I'd been forgotten, but equally didn't feel rushed. As I was seeing the show at the theatre next door, I didn't need to travel far, but the timing of my meal couldn't have been better.

Good food. Attentive staff who were working hard to serve all who were going to theatre.

Great food...great value. Not too crowded and tables positioned to allow conversation without listeners from neighbouring tables. Staff welcoming and sufficiently astute to identify diners who are in a rush and those like my colleague and I, who wanted a leisurely lunch...awesome...thank you. We will be back.!

We had a pre-Christmas family party (20) in the Judge's Chamber with 3 course lunch and wine etc. Could not fault the service, or food. Alcohol a little expensive, but to be expected for heart of London's West end. Bar downstairs after was busy and noisy, but just added to atmosphere. Recommend to anyone wanting to have a drink, to experience London's theatre land. Will go again.

Visited yesterday for Christmas lunch, the food was good, service efficient and staff very friendly. Only down side was the table. For such a special occasion a small round table for three was totally inadequate . More space a tablecloth and centre piece would greatly have enhanced the experience.

great place, excellent service. I once met a guy named Bruno who worked as a barback, a big-hearted guy.

For special occasions this can be the right place. The restaurant is situated in a nice area. The main chefs offer a variety of menus- . For your children there is a special set of meals too. Personally, one of my favourite meals is the perfectly-cooked lobster. It is simply delicious. My rating is not five stars, because the last time there was a delay with my order.

Went for my nieces birthday what a nice venue we all had dinner which was a amazing.
I opted for the Monk fish which was absolutely beautiful.
We all had a really nice evening.
Nice food excellent service and really nice friendly staff.

The portion sizes were huge, we pre-booked although there were tables available, good choice on main menu and kids menus, different dietary requirements within the group were all met without any problem. Would definitely recommend and visit again .

Good quality food at reasonable prices in a restaurant that looks as though it would be a lot more expensive. Profiteroles to die for.

Was a underwhelmed by the menu available on the theatre deal. Staff gave us the wrong menu. When the "theatre menu" was given it was limited, although what we had was good. We did feel rushed though. Considering it was pre-paid it still cost over £25 (4 bottles of Diet Coke, 2 sides of fries and 2 desserts). Unlikely to go again

Food was OK, unfortunately due to gas issues didn't have our main choice also staff under a lot of pressure due to current circumstances with covid

Good service and atmosphere but food lacked attention to detail. Chicken Salad was particularly dry and unappealing. Waiter very helpful. At £40 per head, needs to be better to make me come back.

Excellent service, food and ambience

The buzzing and celebratory atmosphere, full of a variety of smartly dressed people. The staff are friendly, polite and a genuine pleasure to converse with. The menu represents good value for money; the food is prepared well, tastes good and enough to fill.

It was OK but the wrong food turned up on two occasions or was very delayed and everything was a bit tepid rather than piping hot despite tasting ok. Food temperature and service doesn't really match the lovely surroundings for the price.

We had a delicious Christmas meal here on a day when the restaurant was very busy. Staff were very friendly and happy to deal with our large party, including Children, despite all the other work they obviously had to do.

I take a large group of students here every Spring, and they totally love it. The service is great and the food--especially ordered from the menu, and not as a set meal--very worthwhile. Prices are fair. It can get a bit loud and busy but you should know that going in, and you'll be fine.

Brown's is ideally placed for the West End and Covent Garden. It is an imposing building on St Martins Lane. We had a very enjoyable time there after booking online for lunch. Service is friendly and the food is very good. The menu is typical of many restaurants with classic dishes like fish and chips and steak. As well as some others. The dining areas are large with high ceilings and this is one of the best restaurants at a decent price level in this area. I will be booking again. It was a very enjoyable lunch.

Went with a large group and was treated well. Food was superb and affordable. Make sure you allow enough time as it's popular. Will definitely go again. Thanks to the manager Marque.

Nice food and friendly, efficient staff. Seeing as they have over 250 covers they do a great job getting the food out in a timely manor. They've obviously employ the correct amount of staff to make everything run smoothly. Not too expensive for London either which is always a bonus!

Great location and excellent food and service. We were here for our office Christmas dinner, unfortunately they try to squeeze too many people (14) on to a table meant for 10, so it becomes very difficult and uncomfortable trying to eat your dinner with elbows clashing. Would have rated 5 stars if they had provided adequate seating and table arrangements.

My husband and I first met at Browns in Covent Garden at the beginning of 2015. Yesterday we celebrated there our wedding with our friends. The evening was a great success. Food and drinks were excellent. Thank you so much to all Browns team and in particular to the bar manager who arranged the perfect party for us.

An unexpected surprise. Attentive Staff, yummy salads and menu choices. Will return

Cheap dinner in this part of town, reasonable quality but feels very "chain" and let down by a a few too many small details. Enjoyed the crab starter but overcooked steak and undercooked pork belly for my taste.

Good comfort food, extremely friendly and efficient staff. A nod to our youth and the Clash ;)

Good food and atmosphere. However our table was very squashed in - managed to move but then quite cold! Service was good and staff friendly.

Nice food and good service from Octaviana. Food was delivered promptly and our requests were handled efficiently. Nice atmosphere. Drinks are a little over priced.

Considering this was during the Xmas lunches madness of December, the staff was on point and the food quality stayed always good.
The layout of the restaurant could be better, but you can see they're doing the best with what they have.

The Lobster poached eggs were unusual and tasty, service was slow and inattentive, we've asked for things a few times, of a few waitresses until getting it (one example was water that we waited forever for...) The pancakes were a huge disappointment, were skinny and felt like they were reheated or sat too long under a warming lamp as it was hard on the edges and chewy, they also were supposed to be the "sweet version", by what the waitress said, however came with sour cream and sour berries and no maple syrup or something that will give it a touch of sweetness... Overall was only nice and probably won't go back. There are better brunches around...

Bustling elegant pub with offer on the house champagne on Fridays. It's central for meeting up with friends and the service has always been good when I've been there. They also have a restaurant which I havent tried yet. Sometimes hard to get seats just before the play at the next door theatre starts but you never have to wait long.

Amazing Food and Drink! Superb staff. Fabulous experience

Convenient and clean. Lots of room.
Hood bar. Reasonable prices.

Second time at this restaurant and had another great meal. Food was prompt and delicious despite busy restaurant (September 6th) and all waiters were more than helpful and friendly.

Cold food but good waiting staff

If you are looking for a leisure lunch or an official dinner, this place can be the right one for you. The restaurant is elegant, quite modern and welcoming.
I was there with some friends yesterday. We ordered some of the offered cocktails - West Indian yellow bird and the Grey goose le fizz. The second mentioned cocktail combined vodka, elderflower cordial, lime juice and soda, and I liked it a lot. I recommend visiting this restaurant as soon as possible.

Had a most excellent pre christmas meal here with 15 colleagues very good service, food and choice. Very friendly helpful staff very impressed will visit again. Good sized portions and quality food. Highly recommend. Just remember service charge if splitting the bill. 💖💖💖💖💖

Had a totally scrumptious afternoon tea. Really good service by lovely attentive staff and we were made to feel very special. Can't wait to go back for Sunday lunch.

Great food and good service (table of 13). Plenty to choose from and cater for children too

Incredibly busy as you would expect from a West End restaurant on a Saturday evening and is usually just as busy any time you visit, this only goes to show how good the place is. The food, drinks and service are not impeded and we weren't rushed out like we were part of a conveyor like some restaurants tend to do. Reasonably priced too!

I took my boyfriend here as part of his surprise birthday day out after we'd been to the theatre. The venue is beautiful, the staff are attentive without being over-bearing, and the food was really lovely. To top it all off, it's really reasonably priced too. I recommend Brown's wholeheartedly to anyone looking for something to eat in the centre of London.
