Reviews of Brumus Bar & Restaurant
J. S.
Really fantastic service, which I would rate 5 stars. The food was ok, my main course lacked seasoning and a general punch of flavour. I had sticky toffee pudding which was divine.
B. P.
For me, for the money, not worth it. Having said that the service was excellent and the steak good.

Afternoon tea review (24£)!
We booked the afternoon tea for two.
The host took our coats and was very polite and friendly.
Service was very good with explanations and asking if we were okay throughout our time there.
The sandwiches were okay, there is cucumber, salmon, egg, and ham which was weird.
The scones were warm and nice.
The sweets were delicious, especially the macaroons.
Tea was good and also my coffee.
It was a good value for the price including the fancy atmosphere.
Very good experience for typical afternoon tea in London.
Well recommended.

The government in Russia is hiding the truth from you! There is war in Russia, it is war against Ukraine and it has nothing to do with peace keeping. Putin wants to take control of Ukraine, and this is true warfare, not some Ukrainian lunatics irritating Russia. Stay strong, and stay safe, no matter what you will make it through these hard times.
K. L.
Remarkable experience, delicious dining, profesional staff and elegant decor. The food was also reasonably priced (we went with prior booking with Open Table and their set menu) but a'la carte looked sane as well. There was one issue with our food, still very tasty, and I must admit that the manager handled it extremely professionally. I was positively surprised by the quality and quantity of food. They also have some sitting outside area which must be incredible when the weather is pleasent.
It is a perfect place for a date or special celebration.
Pictures include: chicken, broccoli soup and pear-pistachio cake.
S. L.
Great food, lovely friendly staff and perfectly located for our night at the theatre across the road. We had the set menu which was really good value for money. I will recommend to family and friends.
C. A.
Had a pre-theatre dinner here with family. The meal was delicious and the restaurant had a very good ambiance. I would say trainers and ripped jeans do not go well with this sophisticated restaurant. My family had a great time and the service was great too.

Out of 10:
Service: 10
Atmosphere: 10
Architecture/Design: 10
Quality: 10
Decent price: 8
Quality/Price balance: 9
Additional comments: great service and food! Fish and chips delicious ! I was not impressed by the desserts though. The restaurant is expensive but it worth it!
N. G.
Was early for a show at the theatre next door so decided to see if it was possible to have a couple of drinks in the bar, ended up having a meal.
Delicious food, Very reasonably priced for London
R. B.
We had a brilliant meal here last night together with some lovely cocktails. Went on the spur of the moment prior to seeing Phantom of the Opera across the road. It was my 50th birthday and I was with 2 vegan friends. We all had vegan main and desert which were of the finest quality. My husband had the burger and claims it was one of the best he's ever had. To top it off just before we left the staff brought out this wonderful birthday treat. It was a shame we could not have spent longer there, although the show was good too. I would like to thank all of the staff for a wonderful experience.
S. P. (.
Lovely restaurant, the service was fantastic as was the food and reasonably priced as well, we went pre theatre and had plenty of time to eat before our show.
I can't recomend Brumus enough! If your in central London it's well worth the visit.
B. H.
We have booked the opera and dinner and only 75p/person. The food is good but salt a little bit, overall the dinner and service are brilliant.

Afternoon tea was very enjoyable. I believe it was round £25 per person and it left me very happy and full. Tea was very fragrant, food was yummy especially the buttery scones. It’s a high quality afternoon tea at a good price (most other places on this level charge high-£30 to £40 kind of prices!)
W. W.
Excellent service and meal. The pollock was perfectly cooked and the portion was good.
T. S.
I love this place! Great cocktails and amazing value small plates in the heart of London with great people watching outdoor seating. Not to mention the amazing decor.
C. P.
My parents and my husband and I (newlyweds) had our pre-theatre meal here before seeing Phantom. The food was amazing and our server was beyond phenomenal. My parents made passing mention of mine and my husband's newly married state, and with my being coeliac he was totally on game with making sure everything was separate and verifying each dish that was mine. I came out from the restroom to a GF cake slice as a "gift" as well as being given a lovely tray of mini desserts as you see in the photo on behalf of the waiter and restaurant team. Absolutely unexpected and so very sweet. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat to those who don't mind a splurge :)
M. P.
Pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant, so nice personals there, but chicken from set menus was not tasty.😣
W. C.
I loved Brummus for it's casual elegance. The service was low key but special and our afternoon tea was exceptional. We had a superb cocktail to kick start our afternoon and sat and chatted and giggled all afternoon without feeling as if we had overstayed our welcome. This was my first visit but was accompanied by a friend who had been many times and she said it is consistently good. Don't hesitate to book.
M. G.
We were sitting outside enjoying good views. The service was excellent. Food was fresh, dishes nicely presented. I would not recommend a burger, its over cooked. Waitress explained they can not cook burgers rare or medium. My wife had a cod and it was very delicious.
F. P.
Upmarket but relaxed. Attentive but not ott staff. Everything spotlessly clean. But the star of the show was the fish and chips. The best I have ever had. Chips were crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and perfectly seasoned. Fish was fresh with tasty batter.
K. B.
My daughter and myself dined at Brumus Restaurant on Saturday evening. Our dining experience was exceptional. The staff were friendly and extremely efficient. The food was cooked to perfection. The location was perfect for the theatre. Well worth a visit.
N. C.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere, the staff where really great, dropped a star as I was a little let down buy my steak, but not enough to complain, was cooked to perfection. And had an amazing texture, felt it was just not quite right, my partners meal was very good and desert was fantastic,
S. N.
Had the Festive Afternoon Tea here with a large group (8, including a toddler). The team were extremely accomodating (high chair for the toddler, also made amendments to the booking on the day). Service was excellent - attentive yet unobtrusive, with a bit of good humour from one of the younger male waiters whose name I unfortunately didn't manage to catch. Tea was £29pp - a more affordable alternative to the classic London options that are more than double the price but not twice as good as here! Decor was quirky and unique (Kit Kemper); the restaurant itself was quiet (Friday afternoon), making it suited to having conversation easily with those beside me.
T. H.
We had a very pleasant Mother's day Sunday lunch here. The service is attentive & friendly without being too obvious. We had a two hour sitting, but the service was never hurried, (unlike some places) & the staff were happy to give us time to chose (& even suggested pausing between courses). The food is good. (The staff also checked for allergies, unprompted, which was appreciated). The dining room is small, giving the place an intimate small, but at the same time, you're not pushed next to other diners. This is the first time I've dined here, and it won't be the last.
Thoroughly recommended.
A. C.
I came here for afternoon tea with my friend and the service was absolutely incredible. Everything was delicious and presented really really well. The decor is great and the restaurant itself is centrally located. Really good value and I will definitely be coming again.
A.
Perfect spot for pre Theatre Royal dinner or drinks complete with Only Fools & horses cocktail option (loved the "Cushty"!) Sea bream was exceptional as was the vegan cheesecake. Chilled ambience, fabulous decor and outstanding service. They even surprised my husband with a Happy birthday chocolate plate. Highly recommended! Thank you for making this special occasion extra special for us.
Z. R.
Beautiful place with the great service. The portions are decent considering the menu price.
P. D.
Have been here twice now, once for afternoon tea and another for a set-menu dinner. Both times the staff were friendly and attentive. Food was good and reasonably priced. The decor and atmosphere are a nice mix of contemporary yet traditionally styled which suits the building well. Have already made another booking!
T. F.
It was good, the food had an authentic taste and difference to it. It was fresh, delicious and the staff were very hospitable. I will definitely be visiting again and I like the way they have laid out the cakes by the entrance. I just want to eat them all!
S. N.
Good to get together with my friends here and not overly pretentious. Had the set menu which actually had a good variety. Soup starter very hearty but overly generous. Left enough room for the cake tray offering .
A. G.
I had a lovely time here tonight with my boyfriend. Our waiter Stratos was very upbeat, friendly and helpful and ensured we had a lovely evening. The food was also very delicious and the setting was romantic. We would definitely come again.
A. W.
We ate here "pre-theatre" and the restaurant is next door to the theatre! We arrived early at 5pm and we had a fantastic meal. The service was impeccable. Attentive and friendly - couldn't fault it. We had the 3 courses for £25 menu. The food was delicious- fresh warm artisan bread - sweet potatoe soup with pesto - pollock cooked to perfection. My husband had belly of pork and it was mostly fat - not much meat on it, the puddings were ice creams (strawberry was sublime) sorbet or a choice of cakes. I had the raspberry tart. All in all a leisuly relaxed meal in beautiful surroundings. Perfect!
S. R.
This was a lovely place. Cannot fault the staff. Firstly, the nice waitress sang happy birthday and I was given additional cake as I was celebrating my birthday with family. The fish was delicious and the presentation was lovely x
L. Y.
Used to visit quite regularly - on arrival, the waiter was quite snooty and didn't really want to offer a table at the bar for cocktails, despite plenty being available.
Service in the restaurant was friendly and attentive at first but then couldn't get anyone's attention at all after main course. Had to ask for menus for dessert and then we were forgotten about again. It wasn't at all busy and most of the other diners seemed to be Pensioners. Eventually we gave up and asked for the bill. We asked for the service charge to be taken off but when the bill arrived it had the service charge included which is outrageous. All the waiters seemed to blame each other. They clearly just wanted to get rid of us at the end after we had complained. Truly awful
J. H.
Went to see the phantom of the opera at the nearby theatre with my nan who had to rent a wheelchair for the trip. Said wheelchair developed a fault and the staff at Brumus very kindly got their maintenance staff to fix the wheelchair for us. So in conclusion, the food was excellent and the staff provided the best, and kindest service I have ever experienced. I would like to thank them for helping us out like that and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
J. N.
We ate at Brumus for the first today. I came across the restaurant on OpenTable. We has the set menu lunch. My three dishes were all very tasty and the wine was very good for the price. I would definitely eat lunch here again.
K.
My new favourite restaurant in London. Cocktails are gorgeous and different. Food amazing. Staff so friendly. Short walk from Piccadilly circus. Love it. Been a couple of times.
M. K.
Perfect as always

Went for an afternoon tea with work colleagues and the place is ultra fancy ... Definitely not casual at all ... Food was really good, and service was decent but a tad slow... And it wasn't busy so I imagine when it gets really busy it's probably going to have a problem.
Admittedly they may end up having more staff during busier times so perhaps it's not a concern. Would I go back? Perhaps for another work gathering ! On my own dime? Unlikely.
Note this is for the restaurant section... Didn't actually use the bar area.
Z. A.
Got the cheese platter, heavenly! And the bathroom was so gorgeous I wanted to live in it. Is that weird?
M. L.
a wonderful place!! staff brilliant and the food was awesome!!would recommend if you in the area give it a try!! done a fantastic pre theatre meal, excellent value.ill be back!! thanks again for the staff in making our visit to london a wonderful time
D. B.
The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. For cake or afternoon tea I think this place would be ideal, it's a lovely setting but for lunch I found it just average I'm afraid.
L. D.
Fabulous meal with my family. Was nervous about bringing my 5 year old daughter but she really enjoyed her meal and the staff were wonderful to her. Food was delicious!
R. H.
Very well looked after pre Phantom matinée. Date turned up late but excellent & friendly service & 3 courses (set menu) served within an hour. Many thanks.
L. L.
They offer vegan options but you have to request a vegan menu. The menu I received when we were seated did not have the vegan options on it. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice.
A. S.
Everything was delicious and presented really really well. The decor is great and the restaurant itself is centrally located.
A. S.
Staff were very friendly but the food I ordered had to be cooked medium well done presumably as the supplier wasn't trusted enough to allow rare. Sadly it was over done, I really wanted to love this place and it's food.
C. G.
Cozy place and nicely furnished. Tea was nice but food from the breakfast/brunch menu a bit disappointing, not much flavour and poorly presented. Staff is kind and friendly.
m. m.
lovely restaurant was there on the 28th december for my wife dads 90th birthday food good and services waiters were 100 per cent will go again and tell friends
C. K.
Tried their 3 course taster menu with prosecco for £25 - worth it! Don't miss out on the cakes - or the cocktails, they are to die for!
T. H.
Amazing place. Great atmosphere. Cocktails are fab. Staff are so so friendly and on the ball.
M. D.
Quiet place for a drink in central London. Comfortable seating and attractive decor. Good table service but not a cheap option.
U. S.
Ideal for quiet business breakfast
K. T.
Lovely food, good service and a very reasonably priced set menu
B. M.
The decor is beautiful however the service is slow and the staff not particularly pleasant.
The restaurant is not to the level of a 5-Star hotel. I would not recommend.
c. b.

Fact: my brother-in-law assaulted a waiter here years ago. Don't let that put you off though (the place that is) - it's usually a very nice place indeed.
P. V.
Good food with friendly and efficient service. Good value set menu.
K. B.
Lovely place but hay so expensive 6.50 for a cup of tea same price for 1/2 of beer plus service charge very busy inside
A. S.
After the bad experience last time, back to the restaurant again last night, the food & service were good, back to high standard.

(Translated) Never again London without afternoon tea!
Even after x visits, I've never been to Afternoon Tea, which was partly because I'm rarely hungry at this time or I wanted to take the time for it, in this fantastically interesting city. Afternoon tea is especially worthwhile in the big hotels.
After some searching we decided on the Haymarked Hotel. We had booked from home, through the site afternoontea.co.uk (top) and I strongly recommend a reservation.
In the restaurant we were greeted in the friendliest way, got a very nice place at the window and then picked our tea.
The time until everything came, I used to look at the lower premises of the hotel (dreamlike).
Usually, the cutlets and sweet snacks are served on a tiered stand.
Everything looked just wonderful and tasted excellent.
Tip: Do not pick up the best until the end, it's difficult to do anything

(Translated) I ate 24 pounds per person for an afternoon tea set. You can choose between afternoon tea and eulgray (you can change it to various other premium teas if you add 1.5) and you do not have to choose dessert separately, but the menu items come out in 3 levels. ㅋㅋㅋ ㅋㅋㅋ! There were scones on the first floor, sandwiches and meat bread on the second floor, and dessert desserts such as cupcake, macaroon and pudding pie on the third floor. Two people went to eat instead of lunch. It was smart. Do not eat. The most delicious thing was the freshly baked warm scones. Butter butter, strawberry jam, and strawberry jam (?) Are also available.
The staff members were kind, so we ate good!
