Reviews of Cafe Chula
Camden Market offers a lot of different food options and this time I tried some Mexican quesadillas at Cafe Chula. The food was delicious, service and place nice as well. My friend was expecting something more with tacos (too little for the price) but I do understand that it is the average price around the market.. Definitely a place to recommend anyway 👍🏻
Great place with lovely people and great vibes. Highly recommended if you are around Camden
All right Mexican food (have had better). Great service.
My favourite place inside the Market, friendly staff and excellent drinks
Excellent food! Not a great space, but worth a try.
Great Mexican food !!!!
Staff were polite, food was lovely but a little bit expensive.
Very nice stuff and decor, coffee could be a bit nicer.
It's pleasant&spacy, original interior. The coffee is very, very good, assembled with a little bit rum...
Great place to get in from the cold.. very cosy and warm both in style, comfort and the staff very friendly...😀
Lovely atmosphere. & Happy hour is great
Amazing food! The tacos were out of this world and the jalapeno cucumber margaritas were equally delicious. Staff were very kind and accommodating. Highly recommend!
Good food - just wish there was a bit more of it!
Fish tacos are amazing, and the cocktails are good too.
Good food and great 🍸. Nice view as well.
Very good drinks atmosphere and nachos
Great food as always. Great atmosphere
Amazing atmosphere and best tacos ever!
Great food, great staff best location.
Wonderful views and great coffee as always .
Great place to eat and drink and really nice staff..
Dead center in camden market, relaxed atmos and good coffee.
Small fun and atmospheric Mexican bar & cafe. Service was very friendly and attentive, and the waiters were always circling taking/delivering food and drinks orders, and finding seats for diners. And great music playing. A perfect Camden Lock, London weekend afternoon spot. Cocktails, wine and lunch for three was £70 incl service (well deserved!)

Great atmosphere, nice drinks and friendly staff but disgusting and dirty toilet.
Inside the Camden Market, great for taking a break and eating TexMex delicacies! Perfect quality and price. Impeccable service, informal environment. The tables outside are sheltered but at the same time immersed in the excitement of the Sunday market. A beautiful discovery! We will come back for sure. Highly recommended!
Located in the wonderful setting of Camden Market and bordered by the river! Really nice place, few seats. Absolutely recommended. Fast service, decent prices and good quality of food
Overall very good experience I highly recommend. Customer service was great, food and drinks were great
Nice for a little break when arriving at Camden Market, but be careful for big eaters, you will be disappointed, the portions are not very generous. The 2 dishes below are the main courses, but in my opinion, they tend more towards a kind of tapas, in terms of quantity.
But the taste was there and the staff were friendly!
A very good atmosphere. It's not too expensive for the area. The huevos rancheros are sublime. I also loved their cappuccino. The tacos were okay but nothing more. The staff is friendly and gives good advice. There is a beautiful view.
I tried the cochinita pibil and it is acceptable, although I would prefer the tortilla to be larger. They should also carry more beers (I only saw Pacifico and Corona), even if they are not Mexican.
Incredible coffee that exceeded my expectations, I recommend the eggs rancheros, if you are Mexican and miss the flavor this is your place. In addition to being a rich breakfast at an appropriate price
The Happy hour is very good, the coffee is very good.
Passing through Camden? This cafe is one of the best in my opinion. The price may seem high, but the food is good and not too spicy.
The setting is sublime, the decor is super pretty.
The waitresses are very friendly with tourists.
Very friendly service, delicious homemade lemonades and affordable prices.
Good food, everything was very good, place to return.
Go take a trip to Café Chula! The waiters, barmaids and cooks are friendly. The hubiscus margarita is to die for!
The meals are mostly spicy and that suits me perfectly!
Some evenings of the week, we are treated to an Afrobeat mix, just great!

I won't return, to modern Camden , good for tourists
(Translated) Latin bar, nice decor with a small outdoor terrace heated in winter, happy hour. Nice atmosphere but when we visited during the week not many people but the area is really great

Bar latino, déco sympa avec une petite terrasse extérieure chauffé en hiver, happy hour. Ambiance sympa mais à notre passage en semaine pas beaucoup de monde mais le quartier est vraiment top
Food cooked in authentic Mexican style. Good atmosphere and attention in English and Spanish. Excessive price in the additions.
Great atmosphere. Very pleasant staff and good value for money. Good food and super good Latte macchiato.
(Translated) great food, very kind staff, cute location!
we have already been 2 times, we will be back

ottimo cibo, personale gentilissimo, location carinissima !
siamo già stati 2 volte, torneremo
The micheladas are acceptable. The food is not very Mexican, but it is healthy and delicious.
High tempo, pulse but really good food and drink.
Very delicious cappuccino coffee and chamomile tea. I didn't try the food but the rest was very good, good music and normal prices.
The server was overwhelmed and we had to wait a long time before being served. But he made up for it very well by offering us one of the meals!
Tasty tacos. Friendly service. Nice location. Too bad there is only 1 toilet.
Beautiful place, very good Latin music and very delicious drinks. Ideal to spend an evening there.
Great food, great service. Very busy place in the middle of Camden Market but they still deliver great food and surprisingly pleasant service. You expect to be herded through such a busy restaurant but the servers couldn't have been more patient and polite. We had mini shrimp tacos and mole tacos. Both had very rich flavors. Would gladly visit Chula again.
Very good atmosphere! Mexican food at a good price! Very nice decoration and good staff
Excellent cuisine. If you have to order in Italian, ask the bartender...
Good food but I found it expensive. At Camden Market very entertaining
Great atmosphere, great food and unbeatable service. If you come with children it is perfect!

Die Tische könnten ab und zu mal abgewischt werden, doch die Limonade und die Location sind super.
A decent meal for French people. But we were in good company there
Typical Mexican style setting with cocktail specialties and Mexican dishes, nice..
He'll get away with it. The food is not amazing, but the service is nice and the juices are tasty.
The jalapeno margarita is a must. Be warned. It's a spicy one!
Very nice place, very warm, they serve excellent
At the top, good cocktail but too many ice cubes
Cozy and very original place in a lovely place!
A nice place, courteous staff, good Mexican cuisine
It took them a while to serve us but it was delicious
We had a drink, the girl who spoke Spanish was very nice.

The service felt like being part of a good cop bad cop movie, but with the waitresses. One friendly, and the other sour. Food was OK, not sure if they have reduced personnel due to covid, but has that sensation. They have lovely decoration and location, and maybe that increased the expectation just to be left feeling a bit disappointed by the food, margaritas and the unwelcoming waitress.

Love this little place, gives you a taste of Mexican night life and the staff are very accommodating.
24th November 2021
It's was quiet on arrival and was seated straight away which was great. However the cramped conditions meant that even with a few groups of customers my meal was disturbed by having to get out of my seat to let other customers past.
My party of three ordered three plates of tacos and a quesadilla. The food was tasty and spanking fresh however there was some issues. Firstly the heat was none existent. I love my Mexican food spicy hot, in my party my sister has lived in Mexico and her partner is Mexican and they both felt it was far too tame on the scoville scale. Also the tacos were absolutely tiny. The filling was completely acceptable in portion size but the tacos themselves we're just far too small meaning the filling could not be contained leading to a very messy meal.
Staff friendly and helpful, food was beautiful and tasty fresh but the negatives had a major impact on the overall experience.
If you like mild Mexican food this is still a great option. If you like Mexican food with a proper kick I would avoid personally.
Nice but very noisy

We were a group of four that popped in for one drink over the weekend and stayed for 3 hours!
The ambience was great - buzzing but relaxed
They were a little short on staff that evening, but they were coping great! Our pitchers of margaritas were re- filed promptly, service was friendly, fast, but not rushed.
We had the deal they are offering - nachos, platter of tacos and pitcher of margarita (followed by few more...) and it was absolutely fab!! My personal fave being pork tacos and mezcal margarita.
Great food, very unexpected as it's not the poshest of places. Good margaritas and Mexican beer. Generous portions, especially the nachos. Wow really good. We just intended to have a quick beer before going to the Roundhouse, but the food was so good, we decided to stay. Good decision as we totally loved it.
I was here with a friend and her date on Sunday and this place is just great!
The drinks and the food takes slightly longer to be served than you would expect, but there is a very good reason for that: Everything tastes amazing and fresh!
I was a bartender myself and the drinks all a nice variation of the classic one - definitely try the variation of an Old Fashioned and thank me later ;)
I had a drink with cucumber and everything was just right: Sugary edge, just the right amount of liqueur...loved it!
Foodwise we had the prawn tacos (diabolo I think), loaded nachos, BBQ beef tacos, the salsa was also really good and the quesadilla with cheese were insanely tasty!
The staff was professional and watched out that we would feel comfortable. The manager came by himself and made sure we would have a good time. I appreciate when the supervisors serve themselves - speaks for the easy atmosphere.
Even though the place is right next to the water (nice view when you look out the window) and the decoration is very ornate, the prices are quite low - so go there soon, eat and drink tasty, freshly made dishes and drink and enjoy this nice location and the view!
Full 5 stars and well deserved ;)
Great vibe fab location ..special interior ..foods great
We visited here in the middle of September on a Saturday night after a long day at Camden Lock, the staff were very accommodating and understanding of my wife being heavily pregnant.
The cafe had an excellent buzz to it and the cocktails were very nice and we enjoyed the show that was going on behind the bar as other people's cocktails were created.
The food we ordered was tasty but small in portion size.
The staff seemed tired but were very pleasant to, not just ourselves but to others popping in and out of the cafe to have a gander.
We also got to go upstairs to a small DJ night with our receipt which was very welcome just a shame we could not enjoy this for long with it being late and a baby on the way.
The food is very good, but it could improve. As Mexican, I compared the food to the one in Mexico, although it resembles the idea of the dish, some tastes weren't what I expected. Staff was friendly, and my time there was enjoyable. Great place! You should go and try the good variety of dishes they offer. Would go again.
We went on a Tuesday lunchtime and it was very nice. The tortilla chips with guacamole and dip were great (though a little too heavy for my girlfriend) and the tacos were delicious. She had the Orange chicken and I had the pork with pineapple and habenero salsa. They were absolutely stuffed and overflowing.
The waitress who served us was very friendly and attentive and our food arrived really quickly. We're definitely going again sometime
Very nice food and great staff! If you're eating in in Camden town, this is a great place! Had a perfect table inside to enjoy the views of the canal and hustle bustle outside.
Nice little Mexican themed spot in Camden Lock.
I had the chicken enchiladas which were a fair good portion. Very rich sauce but a bit acid and the chicken was a bit too dry for me.
My companions ordered the prawns and chicken tacos which come in a portion of three each that might be a little disappointing if you’re hungry. By the way the waitress told us that they’re going to make some changes to the menu and kindly offered some coffees.
Overall the atmosphere is really laid back, Camden style.
We might come back for drinks.
We enjoy to go out. Last night we came to this excellent place which friends told us about. We spent a beautiful evening there with fine dishes and an efficient team and a professional chef. We added this restaurant in our phone list and we shall surely go again very soon. We warmly recommend.
Mexican café in Camden. Nice if you want to sit and relax away from the busy lunch crowds. Be aware that the taco is a small soft disc with a tablespoon of food on each of the three you get on your plate. They sure are very tasty but if you’re very hungry Order a side of loaded nachos too. Drinks are dear. The agua Fresca was nice
The chilled Camden vibe coupled with hand made cocktails and delicious Mexican food has led me to return with friends on several occasions. The food is reasonably priced and the service always come with a smile. One of my favourites in London and looking forward to my next visit, thanks
Food is amazing but I really don't like the attitude of staff. Waitresses are overly familiar, calling us darlings, girls and making jokes. Probably because this is a mainly tourist location.
Great latino music and the food was fab (we had tacos and nachos). Service top notch.
This restaurant is my favorite. I visit plenty of restaurants but here I go the most. The team is very chummy and the cuisine they offer is so good. I would always prefer to have a nice meal here. Highly recommended.
The best place you'll find in Camden, with great people that makes the place. Excelent food and even better drinks. True mexican place is here.
Very authentic Mexican food. Having traveled to Mexico many times and being from California, I gave up hope finding decent Mexican food in the UK. But this place does great Mexican food. Delicious tacos. Good cheese, tortillas, beer and Pico dear Gallo. Just really good food.
The service was awesome. It felt like little Mexico. Brett was cool and made my friend and I feel welcome and at home during our stay. The Margaritas were amazing also!!!
Best margaritas, great canal-side setting, friendly service and authentic Mexican food. Love it so much we send our @paddleboardinglondon guests there after their SUP experience on Regent's Canal.
The food is great. They make the best Micheladas in London .
Delicious, delightful, wonderful experience to say the least. Coming from a food critic and connoisseur of delightful eats . This morning we had the pleasure to be invited for a Mother’s Day breakfast. To my surprise located in the most unexpected location is La Quinta best surprise. Do yourself a favour delight yourself in a pleasurable experience. Compliments to the chefs thank you till next time.

Really good place in Camden. Margarita was epic, tacos were good. Not feeling the not having bottles of sauce on the table like normal taquieras. I you don't realise you have to order a side of sauce, the tacos can have little kick. They should mention it during the order taking. By the time the tacos arrive its too late and takes too long. But awesome Margarita, 8/10 and I drink ALOT of margaritas.
Came here for happy hour margaritas, it was like £6 each I think but we ended up getting the £20 margarita jug to split between two, which was good value! Also split the guac and chip and they were nice :) the chips were house made I believe
Absolute Bangerr of a Cantina!
I went to Chula, because i jad to wait for a friend, not expecting much, and boy was i wrong!
The service was exquisite, a lovely woman named Rammy or Ramita and another woman called Donata looked after me, and they were amazing.
The place felt like it was my local, but it was my first time there!
They asked my name, then called me by my first name for the rest of the time!
we had shots, they had amazing drink and food recommendations.
Donata suggested that i should taste Arette tequila, and its now my favourite tequila, by far.
Ramita made up a special quesadilla for me that was maybe the best ive had in London. Shredded beef, mushrooms and mango pineapple, habanero salsa.
Looked small, but was super filling and for a good price!
When my friend finally arrived we stayed at Chula instead of going to the place we were supposed to!
I cannot recomend this place enough.
Hidden gem in Camden!
Just like a piece of Mexico in London! Mexican ingredients, Mexican soft drinks, interesting place. The owner use to have a Mexican boyfriend, so she got all the recipes and then let him go! It worths the visit
My parter and I went on 29th July for brunch and we enjoyed a lot. The food was amazing, the views lovely, the ambient with Spanish songs made it different, and the staff, specially Sara and Stelios (I hope is ok spelled, sorry if not!!) were such a kind persons that really cared of us and our experience at the restaurant. Our congratualatios to them! Will come back for sure!!!
Cafe Chula is head and shoulders above the competition when it comes to combining Mexican food with Mexican drinks, it's a must if you're looking for an authentic experience in London. It's tequila and mezcal selection is large but relevant and the margaritas are the best I've had. The staff are great, they are always friendly and helpful. Ideal for a fun dinner party with a group of friends!
Good food, friendly staff and lovely drinks to savour. Being full and the fact that we had to wait a few minutes for a table, although were impressed that they made one up especially for us, proves that many others enjoyed the experience too !
Cafe Chula is one of my favourite places in Camden to hang out. Tucked away under Lockside bar in the corner of Camden's West Yard, this haven offers great authentic Mexican food, and the best Margaritas in London especially the Hibiscus. The Fish tacos are incredibly moreish and the marinated steak, rice and beans is a show stopper! I often come here with a group of friends and on a hot day love to sit outside and watch the world go by. The staff are very welcoming and I've rediscovered tequila due to the excellent selection behind the bar.
We went their twice in one day. Once for lunch and then some evening cocktails.
Their nacho plate is amazing as are their churros with two different kinds of chocolate on it.
A recommendation for anyone looking for a quick bite or cocktails at Camden market.
Trendy little sit down brasserie selling Mexican food. Food was late due to a technical problem but all was explained to us and when we were served the food was good. Staff very pleasant and a cosy atmosphere.
Very nice people working on here. Nachos were delicious
Great ambience and vibe especially the outside seating area. Good selection of cocktails and wine. Food leaves lot to be desired though with no standout Mexican dish. Oddly, their kale salad with pomegranate was amazing. Go there for drinks and location, not for food.
Fun little Mexican restaurant in a very hip neighborhood. The margaritas were good, but the fish tacos could have been better. Still relatively good, but not quite a 5 star fish taco.
Authentic taqueria in the heart of Camden. Love the staff, the drinks & the venue. My favourite spot in town for sure and will always come back here. Another Mezcal please.
This is our new favourite Mexican place in London. Great food, atmosphere right on the canal and the service was just as positive. We’ll definitely return.
I've always liked Cafe a hula, but recently been disappointed. The atmosphere the best part on Camden Locks. Drinks are small and expensive, service is marginal and a looter slow, and the food is pretty bland. Fine Mexican, but nothing overly special.
I love this little gem. Plenty of choice of coffees/ refreshments, real mexican food and an amazing array of tequilas. The staff really know their stuff too when I ask what tequila I should have. I go back every week and I still havent tried them all. Thumbs Up
I haven't had anything yet at this little cafe that I don't at least like. Mostly I love it. Chula's a good place for me to grab a snack. I'm a snacker. The portions can be small, a few tacos, or you can make it a meal. My style. I get my coffee here in the morning and I have a legit margarita when I come at night. I'm from California, so this Mexican cafe feels like a home away from home for me. It is fabulous MX. And pretty new so not too crazy busy yet.
Amazing food. Brilliant spiced drinks. Lost one star for slow-ish service. But overall really good :-)
Amazing quesadilla!!! Nice vibe and wine☺️☺️☺️
Incredible Mexican food, salsas and happy hour margaritas were excellent. On my visit it was understaffed but waiting staff coped admirably
Great tacos and cocktails! And a nice view onto the canal. Music is a bit too loud though.
Great restaurant, lovely attentive staff and food was delicious. Took family there for my dads 75th and was given a private area in the restaurant which was great with our little one. Couldn't fault.
Great place to have a drink and chat with your friends. Especially if you like margaritas 😅 All the servers were really nice and helpful 😊 Would definitely visit again :)
Love this place! Fantastic margaritas and other drinks, chips & salsa done right, often interesting specials, great for a quick mexican snack, with super friendly staff, good decor and a brilliant view.
Stumbled on this place to try and avoid the rain. Shared the prawn tacos, chorizo quesadillas and nachos between three. All dishes were amazing, especially the nachos.
Brilliant Coffees ... Amazing Food .. Awesome Cocktails ... Great Ambiance ... Courteous Staff ... All in all on an overall basis this place is the best Mexican restaurant in the city !!
P.S. The Flautas are good enough to die for !! :)
We had a great evening of beers, tequila and tacos here. It was lovely. Occasionally too noisy but generally fun!
My favourite place in Candem so far, whenever Im here I have to pop in for a drink. Love the suprise cocktails I always order with my sister, staff is super friendly and delisious tacos with guacamole x
Wow, great food, service and drinks. Really enjoyed the quesadillas and planning to return soon to sample more of the menu.
Excellent service, price and quality of food! Gracias Nibo
Camden's little gem. Great for lunch, dinner or drinks. Amazing selection, friendly staff, good price and great vibe. Would recommend to anyone whatever occasion and whatever time of day.
Really nice place to stop while in camden, food is delicious and happy hour is also good for refreshments... Staff is super friendly and the view in the canal is nice to get the water breeze. Really recommend this place
Great night out. We had the soft tacos, Yumm! The waiting staff were very friendly. The whole atmosphere was very happy.
Great steak sandwich and bloody mary in a cool spot just off the main market. The staff are friendly and it's cool as a dinner spot prior to going out or as a brunch place on weekends.
Lovely staff, delicious food at an affordable price. I recommend the nachos but be aware that they are a little spicy.
Very nice food and great staff! If you're eating in in Camden town, this is a great place!
Vibrant Atmosphere. But not much of a cafe.
Better for alcoholic beverages and noisy atmosphere then hot drinks. Don't bother with the coffee or hot chocolate.
Perfect Mexican bar with delicious cocktails and neat Michelada (with Pacifico/Corona), plus a very nice spot to stay and watch the Camden market from the terrasse.
Food and cocktails are great
Tasty tacos! The baked nachos are good too and get a pitcher of margaritas. Worth it.
Superb service, amazing food and fantastic cocktails. Canal views. What's not to love?
The food selection is very limited, but it's a nice cosy places with friendly staff.
Nice futures across the canal too
Good Mexican food, I liked the typical Mexican drinks as well (sodas and beers you can't find anywhere else)
Staff are a five, but.
We booked online two weeks before we wanted to have lunch. We booked at 1230 on the 29th May 2021. The place was not open until 1300 and the excellent lady front of house sorted us out. It seems HQ operate the booking but does not understand the opening times.
Nice venue by the canal.
We had a Margarita jug which had a lot (massive amount) of ice which limited the margarita, and also Taco (3). Surprised how little Taco you could get for £8.50 / £9.50.
Total bill was £82 for three people.
As i say, staff were excellent (5 stars). Food was a but.....maybe one star. I give it an average 3 star result as I saw the food and was not impressed. Staff were great.
Great place, the best cocktails in Camden town. Definitely one of my favourite places to go ❤
Definitely a favourite in London town.
Amazing Food (Fish Taco's) and the best cocktails! X
Quick and friendly service! Tacos are amazing (chicken was our favourite!) Would definitely recommend!
Nice atmosphere, staff was friendly .I live around, always I bring friends to lunch here.I really recommend.
Great place with also outdoor seating.
Friendly little restaurant with great burritos and nachos. A few cheeky Mexican beers and loads of habanero sauces equals a winner
Very busy, but good food. Nice people. Portions not big, but enough
We come here as often as possible... from Nottingham!! Superb food, drink, decor, atmosphere... everything!!
Needed margharitas for lunch. Very friendly even though they were very busy. Perfect place to relax after walking the markets on a saturday.
Okay decent Mexican food, nice setting, but way to loud music for me..
Had the best service from Bartender Ashley, yesterday night. SHE was so attentive to every single customer, even though the venue was fully booked. She always asked if we needed drinks and was so friendly. She made us cocktails and they were absolutely perfect. She had a lot of product knowledge. I will definitely return and let other know about this hidden gem in camden. Next time I will try some of the food out.
Perfect place for some Mexican grub. Nice and cozy by Regent's Canal.
Nice food. Nice staff. Drinks were expensive, but that's London i guess.
Great little place with good drinks and food. And a happy hour :)
Nice place, only had coffee. Would like to try the food next time
Amazing food, really authentic
Very good food and service. The Elotes were very tasty.
This restaurant even served its fries with a homemade ketchup sauce.
Great coffee, awesome cakes, nice atmosthere and very kind service :) I really recommend this cafe!
Quaint little place for a quick snack or drink
Children friendly place. Very understanding staff! Food great too. Recommended.
I love this bar; Ideally situated right on the Canal at the Stables Market (where all the food stalls are) at Camden Market this bar offers Mexican drinks and food (as well as regular drinks and coffee's)
It has a small outdoor seating area with good heating which is much needed in the UK! Friendly staff and a welcoming trendy environment.
Great venue for meeting friends, chilling, relaxing and of course most importantly in Camden - People watching!!!
Grab a margarita and relax.
