Reviews of Cafe Mama Pho
K. C.
Kept returning for their grilled chicken thigh with rice - and if you’re feeling especially hungry you can order an extra piece too! The pho is rather nice as well, as were their banh mi.
M.
Was the best experience in food tasting in my last few years!
Lovely decor with a relaxing vibe, very friendly staff and affordable prices.
Needs to be checked out immediately 💯
M. S.
Tasty Vietnamese food. I have visited several times and it’s never disappointed. We had the beef in betel leaf, summer rolls, Bün grilled beef, and pork chop with rice. Portions are generous and reasonably priced.
H. H.
A place quite local to me, this place has blown me away, knowing that this is the first time I had Vietnamese food
My favourites were the bún tôm xào and the pho tái. The pho tái executed the flavouring of the soup and beef exquisitely. The noodles were well cooked and beef was extravagant
The bún tôm xào was my absolute personal favourite that brought a lot of flavours and textures together. The noodles and sauce slip down your throat and I loved the chewy and crunchy textures from the vegetables to the crushed nuts. It kinda reminds me of the Korean bibimbap dish in some way
Quite safe to say, I’m very pleased with my experience here with Vietnamese food. I must come back here to have eventually. If you’re looking for good Viet food in Deptford, this is worth the money to try with fair prices on their dishes
A.
The pho here is really delicious (best I have had in London) and well worth a visit. Portion is huge and good value. However I didn't particularly enjoy any of the other dishes including the starters which I felt were just average.
M. C.
Super authentic Vietnamese food been here twice and it never disappoint ! Great service, no booking needed and good athmosphere too. Totally recommend it !
A. C.
Cozy small restaurant, friendly staffs, hot food (spring roll and chicken wings were freshly fried); only comments is the pho could cook a little bit softer.
M. C. R.
Authentic Vietnamese restaurant! Food I ordered was really good and the staff were nice and accommodating. Highly recommended!
j.
Low-key place with massive generous portions, authentic flavours, all at a good price service was fast but there is no service charge added so be sure to leave a tip for the lovely servers! For the adventurous you may try the jack fruit and durian in coconut milk dessert. Didn't manage to try but the chicken wings looked great too.
K. T.
I had the Tofu Xao and it was amazing, as a meat eater nothing was missing for me.
I had Wong lo kat tea that was very delicious too
Update:
I had Spring rolls Bun served with soy sauce today, also delicious
F. A.
Authentic Vietnamese food and so delicious. Portions are quite big, really good value for money. Either eat in or take way, if you love Vietnamese food, you are going to love this.
M. P.
Definitely the best pho and vermicelli bowls I've ever had, and I've had a lot. Their spring rolls and salads are also incredible and you can't go wrong with their chicken banh mi for lunch. The atmosphere's fun, too.
C. T.
Not authentic-food is cooked for non vietnamese taste (bland). Pho broth is not rich. Bun bo hue is basically a spicy Pho broth with a different noodle.
The space is small and service is ok. Cafe sua da is pre-mixed not dripped.
H. C.
Very nice, authentic Vietnamese food. Good portion sizes too. Zero complaints.
O. i. d.
Very good authentic Vietnamese food, and very nice service. I did find it a bit too expensive for the starters and there was very annoying music playing the whole time which was a little too loud to ignore.
Will still be coming back and trying again

Went for lunch on Wednesday (with eat out help out scheme). Table been reduce due to social distancing, have to wait outside for 30 minutes.....
Had a special roll (prawn, chicken, egg, letteus, rice noodle), chicken wings, rare beef pho and mix meat pho and Vietnamese coffee.
Roll: very generous with ingredients, 4/5😋
Chicken wings: 4 full wings, crisps, tasty, very generous size 5/5😋
Phos: big portion, even small size will be enough if u having starter, beef were proper rare (make sure u take it out of the hot soup asap, or they will over cooked in seconds), soup base were great, don't think they put msg in. 4/5😋
Overall: good value for what u pay for, simple yet very nice/tasty food, fairly large portion size, 4/5😋
J. L.
Good and varied selection of starters. Staff very friendly and service always very prompt. Food is very authentic and fresh especially the mango salad. Highly recommend.
V. G.
Mama Pho is the best Vietnamese restaurant I’ve been to ! Prices are affordable for massive portions. I’ve been going for more than a year and it never disappointed me. There’s many different things on the menu (and everything is tasty !). Service is really quick as well. Highly recommend !
L. W.
Mama Pho serves delicious and authentic Vietnamese food. The bowls are very generous portions and they have a really interesting variety of dishes that truly makes me feel like I am back in Vietnam. Service was also effective and food came out pretty quickly, even though it was quite busy when we ate there. If you are visiting there, I would keep in mind that the place often has queues as the place is quite small (you check out the sister restaurant Cafe East if the wait is long!). Overall, great restaurant and definitely one of my favourite restaurants in London.
E. S. S.
Food was good. Pho portions are quite small. It’s quite a small and tight space. Seating is in the style of benches against the wall and about 3/4 tables in middle, a tiny corner for two attached to the ticket counter, and a bar seating style by the window. Seating doesn’t give you any privacy/intimate experience. It was quite busy on a Sunday at about 7pm, and it took a while to get seated. Took a little while for our food to get to us as well. Some people who arrived later than we did were served before us.
R. L.
Authentic Vietnamese Food, best so far...since my last trip to LA. There is no reservations available and is base on first come first serve basis. Arrived at 5.20pm already a long queue, limited tables (7) roughly counting so waited for 35 minutes for a table for 4. Loved the Vietnamese coffee and also N0.34 which is Che Ba Mau (3 colour drink, made of red beans, green glass jelly and coconut milk). The Pho Tai Chin (Very Large Bowl)@£13.50 and BCGTN (Small Bowl @£9.00 is vermecelli rice noodle with mixed grilled pork, spring rolls, shred cucumbers, carrots and all served with famous
fish sauce condiment. Taking advantage of the government scheme of Help to Eat Out which is a bonus as it is half price. Service is also really good and efficient as the waitress pre-orders your food whilst queuing and once seated, the food and drinks arrives at the table. Will be back for more..
P. T.
Super speedy service! Food is delicious and really reasonably priced. The spring rolls in the thit nuong were probably the best I’ve had and their Vietnamese iced coffee is ace. I had 2 in one sitting and got another to go. The caffeine and sugar crash after was worth it
R. L.
Food was very well presented, tasted great and service was quick and polite. Restaurant rather small with around 10 tables
K.
It's quite a cute cosy place. The food is served fast, staff is really friendly and the food itself is nice. I would recommend going. Fried chicken, dessert drinks and Bun Bo Xao (Medium rare beef dish) was great.
M.
Excellent! We loved it and will definitely be back. The big Pho is HUGE! For lunch, try the small one. Thanks again for the great Beef Pho :) xxx
H.
Delicious, quick and authentic Vietnamese cuisine right here! By far one of the best banc cuons, bun cha and nuoc mum in London! Being half Vietnamese myself, I am proud to say this is almost as good as mums! Would highly recommend!
Z. Y. (.
We’ve been there couple of times since a friend recommended the place weeks ago. The pho is super big size lol. Every time I ordered the one with raw beef; the meat was super tender. There was a starter of fried chicken wings with garlic butter which was also very tasty. Rice dish was good as well, the pork belly was well marinated you can tell ;)
A. H.
What a wonderful place , loved my food and service was very good. Soon as we sat down was given glass of water each. Noticed as soon as people left people arrived. Will definitely be going back.
D. C.
Eat in is awesome.. takeaway I have had mixed experiences... Last time I ordered 3 Vietnamese coffees and got one small bag of ice.. enough for one.. luckily I had some in the freezer
K. H.
Quite a long waiting time during peak hours. But definitely one of the best local eats.
S. S.
Had a huge portion of Bùn Bò Xào, delicious. Reasonably priced for the amount
S. G.
Gorgeous, delicious Vietnamese food. Very generous portions, their large pho tubs are like bathtubs full of all sorts of meat and flavourful stock - Wish I had photos to show the portions. Very good value for money, which is why I will be returning again and again despite it being a bit out of my way. Friendly service too. We were two adults, 3 loud kids and we thought it was fab. Big shiny five stars!
U. I. A. I.
The pho is possibly one of the best you can find in UK and the Vietnamese coffee is just simply amazing. Highly recommend!
J. F. F.
Excellent food. Great service. Regular visitor.
B. C.
Mama Pho is consistent. Service is good and food arrives fairly fast.
The recent renovations look fantastic and much improved.
Went for noodle salad and a rice dish today since it's quite warm, but usually will go for Pho especially during winter.
X. X.
Although i wait for nearly 2 hours, its still worth to have it. Very friendly staff and very delicious food. Highly recomended. Will come back again.
J. G.
Great food, nice service, recommended!
P. R.
Don't let the tiny exterior fool you, this place offers the best pho in town! The food tastes great and it certainly hits the spot. Price is also excellent and it's quality and freshness certainly makes it a go-to for those looking for top-notch Vietnamese cuisine. Just be patient as there will certainly be queues to get in. But trust me, what your getting is certainly worth the wait!
A. L.
We had Beef pho (one with rare beef and one with welldone beef), and we loved it. The broth was tasty with lots of flavour. We had small size, and it was enough for me. We saw a dude next to us ordered a big size and the bowl was really big! Except Pho, they have a various choice of foods, we'll def go back and try some others
I. S.
Service: 9/10
Environment: 8/10
Food: 10/10
Selection: 8/10
Value: 10/10
45/50
Staff was speedy, cleaned the tables quickly after customers left especially given how full the place was.
Very cosy, the smell of food wafts through the air, the chairs are unpadded though so you can't sit for too long.
Food is amazing, pho broth is rich yet easy to eat, the noodles were pretty good (you can tell it isn't fresh noodles but still really good!)
We got the biggest bowl of pho (no.12 at £13) and we just finished it!
The selection is all Vietnamese
The portion you get means the value for money is really good, the large is definitely a large that'll leave you just enough space for a light dessert for that sweet after taste.
Would I come again? Yes (I've been twice now)
Would I recommend it? Definitely if you like pho
D. W.
Oh my word, all
I can say the wait was worth it.
It’s quaint cosy and the food was so lovely.
The staff are so warm and welcoming.
Thanks for a great experience.
See you after the holidays. Xoxo
j. y.
The rolls were so good, but not the noodles. The staffs didn’t know how to serve when they were too busy, seem like they need a manager to manager the staffs when to do what.
Y. Y.
Very cozy and foods arrived quite fast. The large portions are big! If you don't want to wait for table, aim for their opening time, guaranteed seats available.
V. G.
It's always great finding hidden local gems like this one. Nice, small restaurant, good prices, big portions, friendly service. Great choice if you are looking for a nice hot bowl of pho.
E. R.
We go to Mama Pho all the time and it never lets us down. Great food!
A.
Authentic delicious food, keep coming back. Wish the hours don’t stop during the afternoon.
R. K.
One of the best Vietnamese places in London. They serve large sized pho which is big enough for two people!
N. R.
Had walked past a few times and always packed so decided to try at 8pm on a Sunday, guess what, packed! Had to wait 5-10mins for a seat (even just for little old me on my own). Staff very friendly and as soon as space came free ushered me in to clean seat on bench facing out the front window, perfect for single diners like moi.
Order spicy beef shin pho, extra veg (bean shoots, herbs, lime n chilli) and a jasmine tea and came to £12. Bargain. Pho came out quickly and was incredible. So spicy and tasty, each bit of beef had great flavor. My lips are on fire! Will be back and will try another pho for sure. Brilliant gem of a find.
A. C.
Very good vietnamese food with such good price. Worth to try it out! Weekend will be long wait as not a big place.
M. C.
Their Pho is delicious.
One of the best in London.
The staff is extremely kind and fast in delivering/serving your order.
I am a regular once a week and has been like this for years, now.
M. V.
One of the better place for authentic Vietnamese food compared to those I have tried in London. My favourite are the rolls. Service staff were attentive and courteous too.
S. S.
Friendly service / delicious food / decent portions. Go there regularly. Highly recommend
Z. T.
Absolutely Amazingly. First time trying Pho and honestly it didn't disappoint. The flavour is so deep and delicious. Would definitely recommend 👌🏾
M. Z.
I like this place more than cafe East, pho is super soft and tender, can’t have enough of it. Rice dishes are also well prepared
j. s.
First time eating Vietnamese food. Fantastic meal and great company.
T. W.
I become a regular after trying their Pho. Love the broth, tasty food, good portion and price.
A. A.
I do love this cafe, food is reasonable and authentic, and their bubble tea isn't overly sweetened as the high street stores nowadays
J. H.
Really like the pho here. The broth is nice and fragrant. Chicken curry was slightly disappointing but the pho is good.
N. C. L.
Great place for family, friends n small group. Nice looking cafe with some vintage light n rustic decor. Food is always top notch n staff are very friendly. Can be very busy at peak times so expect to wait.
C. W.
Mama Pho is the best! Love the pho, the rice boxes, the mango salad, the summer rolls - and the red bean dessert drink is my absolute favourite. All their food is always reliably delicious. Every time we try any other Vietnamese restaurant we always end up saying, "It's not as good as Mama Pho". It's especially nice that when they deliver pho, the noodles are separate from the soup so they don't get soggy, and the summer rolls are wrapped nicely so they don't stick together in the box. Little touches like that really demonstrate how much care they take over their amazing food!
G. Ö.
The service is always good and the pho is really delicious especially the mixed one.
M. V.
Excellent food. We arrived late just before they closed for Christmas.Amazing food and lovely staff.
K. H.
Great portions of food, home-y feel and taste.
V. B.
Small place but great vibe, food is authentic and portions are massive
B. N.
Really good pho, exactly as we remembered from exploring Vietnam a few years back. Quick friendly service and a range of other dishes and sides that were executed well.
J. V.
Lovely food!! Although since online food via app has been made available I’ve noticed that the wait for the food has been slightly longer. Cute place to catch up with a small group of friends, great menu, just be prepared to wait patiently for your food.
余.
One of the best Vietnamese I've had. Great prices for large portions and the taste was fantastic. Service was quick. Although they got one of the orders wrong, it was solved immediately. It appears to be mostly students working so I did not expect exceptional service. I was pleasantly surprised when one of the girls chatted with us when I paid the bill. Service is not included so tipping is advised for good service. I don't often recommend good eats but this one is a must. Going to stop by again before I leave London for good.
M. T.
Incredible food from a hidden gem! All dishes were delicious and freshly made. We were a party of 5 including 2 kids and everyone was incredibly happy with the dishes. There was literally nothing we didn't like. The service is also super polite and fast. Although we were there at near closing time we were not pressured at all to finish up and leave. And the cherry on top: prices are great value for dishes and dish size is also super. I always bring people who visit there and won't stop.
e. l.
An amazing Vietnamese place in London! Really friendly staff and delicious food. If you like authentic Vietnamese food, you need to go here.
s. l.
Tasty authentic Vietnamese food, go Large if you're super hungry!
K.
Good. But they mess up the order regularly, they don't seem to read the extra bites for food.
S. W.
Wonderful little vietnamese restaurant. Excellent pho and spring rolls. Vietnamese coffee is as always a go to.
L. F.
One of the best Pho I had in London.
A very nice big portion, full of flavour and plenty of meat and prawns.
I will definitely go back.
S. B.
Amazing restaurant - both eat-in and delivery. Every time I've been, we had lovely food served by very friendly staff. Last night we got a delivery and it was exactly the same quality - each dish had a particular sauce to go with it. Everything was packaged very carefully, and the food arrived hot and on time. Thank you very much.
N. R.
Authentic pho ga in London. The soup is so rich and flavorful with no hints of dryness at the end. Somehow even the South Kensington's branch falls short from this branch in Evelyn street. Would travel back just to have it again.
A. K.
Very nice place. Food is delicious. Recommend!
C. F.
This place used to be quite good but the standard has fallen so I have reduced the rating. Still looks good in pictures, though!
A. H.
The food is tasty, competitively priced and portion sizes are good. The spring rolls were slightly disappointing (not the chewy rice pastry) but other than that everything else was good.
Service is friendly and accommodating.
Parking is on the street, so no specific car park.
Overall, I would rate this a more enjoyable experience than the nearby Cafe East.
T.
Love the BUN CHA GIO THIT NUONG.
Nice and friendly atmospher:)
Y.
The food taste like home, the mother land. If you love Vietnamese food then you have come to the right place.
Y. P.
The best Pho I ever tasted in London. It used to be very cheap but not anymore. Every time they did refurbishment, the price jumped a bit. Still it doesn’t deter us. We’ve been eating there at least three or four times a month every since we moved to the area.
B. V.
Very nice Vietnamese restaurant! Big portions in low prices! I got the classic soup - pho, I found it a bit too mild, so I would suggest to you not to be afraid and try spicier dishes! We tried many appetizers which were delicious!
Tip: go for the regular size no matter what, the large one is way too big portion for one person!!
M. L.
For a pho place, this place is excellent. Broth is extremely tasty and ingredients are fresh.
Z. Z. N.
Wow the portions are Big!
Pho broth is really tasty with stronger five-spices taste to it. All other dishes were great too and again, the ‘small’ portion is bigger than most out there.
Staff seems not so up to speed but it’s okay for a neighborhood restaurant like this I guess.
Will probably go back again
M. C.
Excellent food and pleasant experience.
This is a surprisingly small venue, so be sure to book in advance, though our wait wasn't long.
The staff were helpful and the menu is extensive for a Vietnamese restaurant of this size.
It's well worth a visit. I will definitely be back.
J. K.
There is nothing I can fault about this place, the food is amazing, well presented as well. The staff was attentive and friendly. I would come back again.
G. C.
Good and casual Vietnamese food. Those garlic butter fried chicken wings were so incredible.
A. N.
Perfect Vietnamese food, delivery through delivery is very quick. They have short menu but each of these tastes awesome!
Y. L.
nice food, not too expensive, but not many seats available. So it better go somewhere else if you got more than 5 peoples wish to sit together. Or order takeaway instead.
S. M.
Amazing food!! Worth the queue outside! The crispy chicken wings are fantastic and obviously the Pho is amazing!
B. F.
Fantastic authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Dining area is a bit small but usually don't have to wait too long to get a table. The broth of the different pho's are excellent as is their grilled chicken over rice or noodles. Highly recommended. Friendly staff and quick service. October 2016 update: the interior has been redesigned, it now seats more people, you can now pay with a card, they serve beer and deliver too!
O. S.
Huge portions of Pho! Loved the mango salad with prawns. Waiting time was not more than 15minutes, they deliver too.
E. Y.
I come here quite regularly. It’s a cute small restaurant with the portion sizes! I love their prawn summer rolls and chicken pho but can never finish as I end up ordering too much food for myself.
X. L.
Probably one of best Vietnamese in London, the pho broth and the meat are full of favour unlike some restaurant in the same area. There's normally a fair sized queue outside which is a good sign, but it shouldn't be longer than 10 minutes. The service is responsive and quick, no issues there. One thing that could be improved is that perhaps the egg pancake could be less greasy. All good otherwise
C.
Mama Pho is best restaurant around Canada Water. The food is very authentic with big portion and price is affordable.
We have been going there for several years and the food has never disappointed us. Everything on the menu is tasty. Our favorites are the pork chop, beef stew & pho.
If you live or work around the area, you can order the food via their own delivery app.
r.
had an issue with a delivery app - called up and they were super helpful. food was delicious. only problem was the wait..! but well worth
B. C.
Incredibly flavoursome Pho, ridiculously generous serving sizes at cheap prices!
Y. S.
Tasty mains and very satisfying portion sizes! I'd recommend the pho and the grilled pork with vermicelli, although you should only go for the large if you're sharing with someone else. Some of the starters (spring rolls, to be specific) were a bit disappointing, but everything else was great. Friendly service as well!
M. Á. R. P.
Portions and flavour are extraordinary!!
I heard from other Vietnamese people this is the place to go for real Pho. And when you see those bowls full of food and taste them... you can tell why.
It's very tiny place and I've been queuing for a little while, which I never do, but it was worth it and I will repeat. Probably with a better planning to avoid queuing.
I hope they don't change their policy about food ever!
H.
Best Vietnamese pho around, very fresh and nicely prepared. Thank you!
C. P.
Food was great, also it was served quickly too. Definitely will come back to try more different snacks and desserts :)
T. T.
Authentic Vietnamese food in a cosy setting. The place is not big and feels a bit crammed at times (hence no 5 stars) but the good food makes up for it, which is why you are here for. Sampled the starters and the pho a couple of times and so far, have not been disappointed.
T. B.
One of the best Vietnamese I've been too. Great prices, good portions and food was fantastic. If you take a turn to Bermondsey, give this gem restaurant a go! Would not let you down!
T. D.
Still my favourite Pho in London. Went on a Friday evening, September, wait was pretty bad and staff very busy, so service a bit slow.
Totally worth the wait. Every dish, perfect. Good portion sizes, served at the right temperature.
Unfortunately they were also "sold out" of desert, shame as the Che Ba Mau is magically good. So light and sweet, but not too filling.
P. L.
Fast attentive service. Be warned, the large portion is massive. If you order that, don't get anything else. The dessert drinks were decent, one with durian was interesting but perhaps a little overrated.
Went at 12.45pm on a Saturday and although it was quite full, service was fast and there was no queue.
D. W.
Recently underwent refurbishment. Food has become more pricey now as a result. However the quality of Vietnamese cooking here is pretty good. Soup noodles are excellent! The Bun Bo Hue (spicy noodle soup) seems to have deteriorated slightly, the soup doesn't have the deep tastes it previously had.
D. K. S.
Just like the other reviews, I cannot fault this beautiful little gem! There are often queues around the corner, which speaks for itself! The food is authentic and fresh. Service is great. Just wish the place was bigger, because they could make an absolute fortune.
D. J.
Food is absolutely delicious, good portions and very reasonably priced, I will be back for sure!
C. W.
Mama Pho is and always will be our absolute favourite spot for Vietnamese! The recent renovation has also improved the restaurant's atmosphere! The food is still great and there's new introductions to the menu that we love too, chicken wings and larger portions of Pho!
A. S.
Great Vietnamese food. Lovely staff. Worth the wait if you need to queue for a table. Great value for money. Only go for the large size if extremely hungry or sharing!
E. d. l. V.
My favourite local cafe!
Honestly I go here almost every week to get my fix! Whether it's sunny or gloomy.
This little cafe is always packed so be sure to come on off peak hours if you don't want to wait long.
The place itself is nothing special and quite small and cramped BUT... don't be put off because the food really makes up for it!!
My top Fave is number 2 (buttered garlic fried chicken), 12 (grilled pork with salad and rice) and 19 (beef pho) on the menu!!!
E. L.
Just came back from Vietnam 6 months ago and could say that this shop serves pretty authentic Vietnamese pho (although nothing beats street pho in Vietnam!). It is pretty good value for the portion and price paid. The summer rolls is a must try!
K. T.
NGL, you guys rock! thanks for making my experience so memorable! I am very hard to please when it comes to my asian cuisine and I am always brutally honest with my opinion, and I think you guys tick all boxes! I highly recommend these guys! true pros! unlike some amateurs places I've been to! You won't regret eating here!
K. H.
Best pho I've had in Europe so far. Not so much because its amazing but more so because everything else kind of sucks. It's still really good though. The restaurant itself has a nice design albeit a bit cramped. Staff friendly. Pretty quick service. The place smells pretty strongly of fish sauce (a main ingredient for the soup) so you might want to pass if you're going out to mingle after this. You'll probably smell like fish sauce too.
T. F.
Lovely little cafe, best Pho in London!
A firm favourite of mine, the Pho and summer rolls are delicious and I seriously crave the Vietnamese salad.
We popped back in for Saturday lunch and couldn't fault it - staff friendly, speedy service and food great.
A Pho and a Vietnamese coffee are the perfect way to get over a big night out - all the major hangover food groups!
S. H.
Absolutely amazing Vietnamese food with incredible price! Me and my bf were very surprised to find it. We ordered chicken wing and no.3 as starter and large beef pho, beef vermicelli (no.21) for main. The large pho is so huge that we had to share in the end! But it was more fun that way. Will definitely go back again and again! Service is attentive too.
B. M.
Veg spring rolls, chicken wings and fried squid were GREAT! went here last week with my little sister! She loved it! No complaints from me :)
T. O.
Delicious Pho, best I've had. Thoroughly recommend the garlic butter chicken wings for starters. Always quite busy so there's might be a wait, but we'll worth it
H. H.
Cheap and delicious restaurant。♥
C. B.
This is the best Vietnamese restaurant in deptford/Surrey Quays by far! Foods fantastic and the service is great. Make sure you bring cash as it's cash only. It isn't too big and gets very busy, so try to plan ahead.
J. K.
Inexpensive and packed full of meats and noodles
J. S.
Worst waitress, best food! Recommended. Try the banh cuon!
R. L. L.
My go-to Vietnamese place. No fuss no 12.5% service charge big portions reasonable price and nice service. Definitely recommend the pho there (big size) and for a picky Chinese like me, I think it is much much better than any big Vietnamese chain restaurants or any of those near Hoxton. Try their starters too. The wings and the rice rolls are yummy af.
T. M.
So me and my sister make sure we go to mama pho often... it's a lovely contemporary restaraunt with the tastiest pho in town. It's super value for money and top quality food. Highly recommended that you go. It's small so can get busy and hard to get a seat but we'll worth it.
R.
Absolutely delicious pho! I love Vietnamese food and this is my favourite pho in London! Nice space to eat in and good takeaway service too.
G. x.
This is a brilliant cheap eat, for a quick casual dinner. The Pho is always perfectly cooked, well seasoned and flavoursome. There is always a queue at the peak lunch and dinner time queues but it is worth the wait!
I. G.
After a whole renovation, Mama Pho looks much better. Kind of Shoreditch full of timber place. Menu still as it was, just slightly more expensive ( this is the price to pay of the change of look). The place is not big, so expect queueing a bit in rush hours. Food is good, staff is efficient and finally they accept credit/debit cards. So, all together there are now more good reasons to visit Mama Pho.
L.
I'm vietnamese and this place has the best Pho in London. I used to come here every week just to eat Pho and nothing else. It even comes in 2 sizes, if you'd like to challenge yourself, go for the big one
S. T.
Delicious food but expect a quick turn over of custom which creates a busy atmosphere. Don't expect to seat large groups upon arrival. This place is great and would highly recommend!
L. H.
My go-to local Vietnamese place, beats the rest around. They also do large portions which other places don't do. Starters are great and taste more authentic than others I've been to. Pho and chicken wings are a must.
S. T.
My go to place whenever I want pho. And I'm usually really picky when it comes to pho but this is good. Both noodles and broth are very nice. The pork fried rice was good too, but if I had to order one thing then it's always pho tai chin. Lunch hours recommended unless you're ok waiting for over 30 min
F. B.
N°1 choice for locals. Great quality food for low price. Available for home delivery with Deliveroo. Best Asian restaurant in Canada Water - Surrey Quays. Restaurant is always busy, I recommend weekdays if you want to make sure you find a seat.
Y. N.
One of the best Vietnamese food places I've been to in London. It's very difficult to find an authentic Vietnamese restaurant and to justify paying for something that you can easily make at home or have made at home by your parents. The pho is pretty good and the bun bo hue is one of my favourites. Definitely worth trekking out of you way for.
L. G.
Great pho at reasonable price.
H. P.
Small place but the food is extraordinary, the portions are great value for the price.
J. N.
The broth was fine, but the beef in my pho was beyond dreadful, didn't realised I ordered bubble gum with my noodles, it was so chewy. I ordered the large bowl, and that is what is was just a large bowl, didn't feel like I got anything extra. The starters were alright though.

Twas a warm summers night, 5 stars a twinkled upon the lofty heavens. A sign perhaps? Maybe. I thought to myself. A long day of little productivity had drained me of my mental and physical energy, the tanks were empty. Time to refuel. My love awaited me at the hill of Herne whence a procession of two commenced. Over the half moon lane and into the glades of Dulwich we tread. The geese of goose green were nowhere to be seen this evening, only hounds and their masters. We carried on. As we approached the outpost of Peckham, tired and weary from our travels, panic struck the procession. We were low on food and water, exhausted from a day of toil and hardship. Would we make it? We considered alternative destinations, but none brought such promise in the mind's eye as that of the castle of Mama Pho. We continued on, delirious and hungry, but with a determination in our hearts that burned bright as flame. Members of the procession began to slow and give complaint, but we were too far now, and they could almost smell the beefy broth that awaited them, an incentive to proceed like no other.
Another outpost, this time of Aldi, old Kent road. Only another mile or so as the crow flies we thought, which gave us much strength. We ventured into the industrial wasteland that sat before us, a maze of pipes, chimneys and buildings who's sole purpose was to refine and manufacture valuable and essential sheets of slab. This wasteland was vast, shadows peeked from their crevices all around us, was this a trap? Animals in the procession became spooked, but with determination and the promise of beefy broth in our bellies, we emerged the other side unscathed.
We could smell it now, it was close, one vertical and one horizontal avenue navigated without a compass brought us there. The CASTLE OF MAMA PHO. The elation among the procession was unlike anything since the end of the great rains. We cheered and drank fine ale as we waited patiently for our promise of beefy broth.
Suffices to say, it was a good harvest that year. Many a calf was born and peace returned to the kingdom once more.
Great food, nice staff, I wanna try one of your banh mi, they sound amazing.
S. H.
Always great food when I come. Had the com bo kor (beef stew and rice) so so tender and amazing flavours. Popped in for a quick meal and good efficient and friendly service highly recommend
T. N.
Great place, little bit small but the Pho is extremely authentic to Pho back home in Vietnam. Staff very accommodating too.
A. C.
First Vietnamese restaurant tried in London, worth a try ! 😋
L. R.
I had to wait the WHOLE of lockdown to try Mama Pho because they don’t deliver to my home (but will to my workplace) and let me tell you it was TOTALLY worth the wait!! I’m obsessed with Vietnamese food and that was some of the best I’ve had in London so far.
M. W.
I've lost count how many times they have changed ownership in the last 10 years :) But at least the current one looks good and taste good too...
Can recommend this place to anyone who wanted authentic Vietnamese food.
S. Y.
Authentic Vietnamese cafe! Absolutely delicious and always a quick friendly service!
c. r.
The food is so fresh and tasty. You won't be disappointed.
V. M.
Really delicious chicken pho, the chicken topping is full of free range chicken flavor, and the chicken broth is very clean and flavorful. An alteration of pho if you are bored of beef pho. And there rice dishes are delicious too, highly recommend their grilled chicken rice dish, the chicken is tender, juicy and slightly grilled charcoal aromatic.
S. W.
Food is excellent as always, tasty authentic vietnamese food. The restaurant is a bit on the small side so sometimes you might have to wait for a table during busy hours.
G. K.
One of the best Pho's in town. The portions are reasonably priced - way below the average pho price in London - and the portions are humongously big! It's a must visit when you find yourself around Canada Water!
M. C.
This is the first Vietnamese restaurant I've been to in London and was completely underwhelmed. The pho was very oily and one dimensional. The meat that came with rice dishes was good but to be authentic it should have come with broken rice. The fish sauce provided was also sparse, barely enough to call it a drizzle - I want more!
M. C.
Delicious authentic Vietnamese food, served by friendly staff, and a very good value for money. Definitely recommend Pho Dac Biet (Vietnamese noodle soup with beef, chicken and prawns). They also have a great selection of starters (rolls, Vietnamese crepe), and amazing Vietnamese coffee (hot or ice-coffee).

Hugely improved after refurbishment! Muh better than Cafeast (Café East). Superb value, great atmosphere, fast service, fresh, hot and spicy quality food.
PROs
+ Great value
+ Lovely decoration and upmarket casual atmosphere, cozy
+ Wonderful for dates
+ Fast service
+ High quality food
+ Feels very new and fresh
+ Attentive staff
+ Fresh ingredients
+ Lots of healthy, vegetarian and vegan choices
CONs
- A bit far away from everything
K. K.
Great little gem. We tried one of the Pho Tai Chin and Bun Bo Xao. Both very tasteful and portions were generous. Reasonably priced too. Can’t wait to come back for more!
B. Z.
I usually go to Cafe East with my friends for pho as it is very close to home however the fact that they don't provide tap water and staff not friendly tend to put you off. We then go to a couple Vietnamese places in Hoxton until my boyfriend found this place not only have good reviews but also nearby. We went there and were very pleased with the food. Good pho and cozy environment. The only setback is that a lot of deliveroo orders took a really long time for our food to come up. They also have quite a few options for sides. You need to be really really hungry to order the big bowl. Would be suitable for two people to share. Recommend this place :)
C. M.
I frequently visit this restaurant when I am working in Lewisham. The only way to explain it is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I love the food and drinks here, especially the lemongrass pork.
I can't recommend this place enough!
e. B. i. B.
Absolute fantastic food. Large portions at a reasonable price. Incredibly tasty and healthy meal options, from pho to meat and rice options. Staff are really friendly too
I. K.
Love the place. Food is absolutely delicious. It's clean, modern, the staff are friendly, service is quick.
Probably the best Vietnamese restaurant in London.
D. G.
wow mouth watering, lush, beautiful experience, heaven like vietnamese food, the hygiene was spot on! so was the presentation! people! come here for real vietnamese food! the best in london!
L. C.
Mama Pho is a brilliant little cafe which serves delicious authentic Vietnamese food. Don't expect flashy, this is literally a little cafe on the corner but the flavours you get from the dishes here is far superior to any chain Vietnamese out in central London. The pho is delicious - particular favourite of mine is the Pho Tai Chin (flat rice noodles in broth with raw fillet and cooked tenderised beef). How they make the beef so tender and delicious I do not know. The bun dishes are also superb with the accompanying sauce making it an ideal summer dish. The rice dishes I am less a fan of but only more because if I were to go to a Vietnamese place, I'd be after noodles.
They also have good starters but sadly since most of them contain prawn I can't have them when I go with my boyfriend who is allergic to shellfish. But if you can eat shellfish they are well worth ordering. In particular the Banh Cuon is my favourite.
The portion sizes are generous - most of the time a main and a drink is more than enough to sate our appetites. Everything is such good value it is easy to have two mains and two drinks for less than £20. If you're having starters then perhaps £30.
A perfect little restaurant to go to when you want to eat out, eat some guaranteed delicious food and not spend a fortune.
H. D.
This place has soo much improved since I last visited (2years maybe) flavoursome and so much mpre better than the other Vietnamese down the road!! Will be back! Love the food and everything about this place! Yum!
A. R.
Excellent food excellent service very cosy, and the food never disappoints. 100% quality, will continue to eat here, i recommend it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
D. B.
Lovely bit of food good service. Good prices
m. s.
Food was amazing I got the noodles with the prawns and salad with peanuts honestly the best I have tasted and what made my experience even better was the very nice, polite and welcoming staff. Great atmosphere and food!
S. L.
The small cafe had a nice atmosphere however the big letdown was the food. The food was lukewarm at most and it tasted average. The price was reasonable . I’ve had better food in cheaper places.
G. W.
If you hanker after authentic Vietnamese Pho, this is absolutely a place worth going a bit out of your way for. The decor and craic may be more impressive at the much larger Cafe East, which is nearby in the Surrey Quays Leisure Park, but for my money this small cafe offers the far superior pho, made with deeply tasty stock. If there is a problem, its their lack of generosity with the tap water, which is dispensed in thimble-sized cups.
K. L.
Mama Pho - apt name as they serve up great, homely cooking.
The presentation isn't exactly expert - largish chunks of onion in the pho mean this might not be first date food material but you will be full and happy with the happy and friendly service
C. M.
Mama pho is very small, so I do not recommend coming here in large group. But the food was nice and a nice alternative if you find Cafe East is closed (like we did), since they are both not far from each other.
The menu has a range of pho and rice dishes, along with a selection of sides. As it is called Mama Pho then it must be about the pho, so I ordered the Pho Chin which had the cooked beef (or well done beef as on menu).
The soup I found was bland at first so I added some of the fish dipping which gave it a bit more flavouring. But the cooked beef itself have a lot of flavour which compliment the broth and the pho which lack flavouring.
Along with our pho we ordered the Banh Cuon (Vietnamese steamed rolls) and Cha Hue (Deep fried Vietnamese sausage) to share. Both was nice and you could have it on its own if you are not very hungry.
From the outside it might not have that look that says come in for tasty Vientamese food. But Mama Pho does serve decent Vientamese food.
J. L.
Terrific place. Good portions and great flavours. Not an amazing night out because of the ambiance but it hits the flavour spots and great to statisfy a midweek pho craving
c. m.
To be honest i could eat rice and fish sauce alone all day theres no other sauce like their fish sauce that goes with anything out there but thats beside the point, small cafe great customer service and reasonably priced cafe mama pho is a place i'd frequent to more often if it were closer to home.
their bbx and com ga noung are my favourite non pho dishes and their pho tai hue with added pickled carrots and coriander is how i like my soup.
cha chan is definitely my favourite drink.
i would highly reccomend this cafe as one of my top places to eat along with patty and bun
I. P.
Top noodles, cozy seats, friendly service - love this place!
L. O.
Not that authentic. Offers spicy version of pho with some chilli oily sheen on??? People were raving about it but it is just because of the huge portions. Taste is OK especially for the price
e. t.
Very good vietnamese restaurant. Been here twice, the beef pho was quite good. They serve alcohol and very nice juice. Service us not that good though - a bit on the rude side
V. C.
Have been getting delivery from mama pho for a while. Always delicious authentic vietnamese food at good prices.
S. O.
Always having queue, but need not to wait long because of very efficient staffs. Foods are great, especially I love Bun bo hue!!
C. V.
Nice food! Food came very quickly too
R. R.
Really nice vietnamese food with a good price.
M. P.
Average. There wasn't even any corainder in my dish! There is one vegetarian starter- spring rolls. On vegetarian main- spring rolls and noodles. I've been to Vietnam and they have more veggie options than that.
B. H.
Excellent pho experience, very large portions and very reasonable prices. Polite staff, great food. Couldn't ask for more.
K. L.
Great that they practise social distancing. Food is amazing and chicken pho is unbeatable. Also great for celiacs.
D. G.
Authentic Vietnamese cuisine at reasonable prices. If you can get passed the small overcrowded and poorly decorated place then you will most probably enjoy it!
A. C.
This place served us great authentic vietnamese food for such an affordable price :) Although we had to wait to be seated, it was definitely worth it.
E. T.
Delicious and big portions!
Y. G.
Good cheap Vietnamese food in a small cafe setup. Used to be second choice when Cafe East was too busy, but the food is now as good, a bit cheaper and still less busy then it's larger counterpart down the road
T.
Food was unreal! Service was amazing too! Completely Covid Friendly!! Cannot wait to come back to enjoy more deliciousness!
A. M.
Small restaurant, a few dishes in the menu but the food is amazing.
The chicken and noodles soup is my favourite , highly recommend it.
N. R.
Really good food. If taking away they don't do large but if you get a large it's probably enough for 2 people to share - depends on how hungry you are.
F.
Top vietnamese restaurant. Very cozy with high quality of food.
M. S.
I had been in here recently. And really like foods here! Very delicious. Would like to recommend to someone who likes Vietnamese foods in deptford area!
c. l.
Place is quite good. A bit on the small side. The dish to have here is the Bho Kho - beef stew. Do it!
H. P.
This has now become my new favourite local Vietnamese restaurant. Try their desserts out. Pho is huge portion, and taste great.
M. N.
Food is great and staff are lovely! The food is authentic and atmosphere is cosy. Would definitely come here again.
J. P. Z.
Amazing pho. Busy small place with not much room to manoeuvre and can get very warm inside. However the food more than makes up for it.
I. S.
Hands down our favourite pho spot in London. One of the best phos in London with friendly staff and vibe. Highly recommend!
F. V.
Good Vietnamese restaurant or should I say café due to its small size. Food is good and it's lively. I have been there twice and will come back.
J. P.
Great place, great food. Everything you would wish for a casual Vietnamese meal. Portions are huge and the flavours are amazing.
h. i. y. h.
one of the best pho’s I’ve had,the pho noodle itself has a unique texture with a velvety yet chewy consistency, the broth(if I believe correctly southern based) was well made and packed with flavour and spice if asked for,the condiments are divided into small plates however you’re free to ask for more if that’s tournament preference, regarding the meats(I usually order the pho dac biet) the rare beef is as should be and the brisket is extremely soft and obviously slow cooked, the prawns included also bring a sweetness to the fish, overall the food is delicious, perhaps a room for improvement could be the staff itself by just being more atttentive to customers other than that quality is 5/5
B. B.
Absolutely delicious! Me and my boyfriend keep on coming back. Great food, quick service, definitely recommend!
A. I.
Good place for a quick meal. Food quality always the same. Can get busy and noisy with the music always on high volume.
J. C.
It's a small cafe offering very nice Vietnamese snack food
A. I.
Very tasty food, but be careful of the big portions of noodle soup, especially if you're having starters. They're enormous!
G. B.
Fantastic hidden gem in South East London. Great food, nice service, clean and charming decor. Would recommend for a cheeky pho.
Z. M.
The biggest pho on the world. Great hospitality.
M.
nice staff and good food, although (unfortunately) few veggie options -but peanut tofu available is delicious!
S. S.
Long wait, but well worth it. Fair prices and absolutely amazing food. Highly recommended.
D. F.
Great pho, great atmosphere and much more personal than Cafe East. Newly refurbished. Always busy! Highly recommended +++
J. C.
Really nice little place to have some pho. Great food, service can be slow when it is really busy, but worth the wait.
L. W.
This restaurant is delicious, cheap and friendly. I absolutely love the food here and since moving out of the area have made many special trips to this place.
D. O. (.
Such delicious food,friendly staff,just amazing :)
P. Y.
Delicious pho and amazing spring rolls. Staff are super helpful. Highly recommend
J. H.
Hmmmm what to say well it's cheap and portions are MASSIVE but some what lacking in flavour had a Pho and it was a flavourless soup very disappointed
K. C.
Some fantastic pho ga, with some really great garlic butter chicken wings, and bun cuon. Everything we had was a delight and so authentic.
D. F.
First time I have eaten vietnamese food and did not disappoint. Beautiful food and the best chicken wings I have ever had.
S.
My most fav Vietnamese restaurant in London, even thou I live near Kingsland road where is full of Vietnamese restaurants. Love their Bun too much!
L. W.
Good food, nice atmosphere and family-run. Just a major lack of vegan/ vegetarian options... where’s the tofu guys?!
a. b.
The food is nice, but tonight an item was missing from the delivery we placed on uberEat and it is impossible to contact the restaurant over the phone.
A. R.
Spicy! Great taste pho. Watch out for the portions. Small is a normal size and the large is massive, couldn't finish it.
S. B.
Some of the best pho in London. The spring rolls are bloody delicious too.
M. V.
Fried squid, chicken wings and veg spring rolls were delish. Cheap and cheerful.
K. T.
Recently refurbished and looks more modern and chic now. The Pho is still below standard and sitting area is really small.
C. T.
The food is absolutely amazing! Very tasty and a nice size. Lucky I’m local 😍
A. O. G.
The food is amazing. Eat in or Take away! Service is good and relatively quick considering they are alwaus busy.
M. S.
Food was really tasty & service was good. Even though the restaurant was full & we had to wait, the waiter was very polite.

M. S.
Great value and delicious. It's not fine dining but deserves a maximum of 5 stars.
L. N.
Delicious tasting food
Not much space in side so be prepared to queue outside
K. C.
Get this a lot for lunch as I work nearby. Good price, good food. Cheap and cheerful. Not much more to say, just that its a good lunch option when theres not much else around!
A. d. P.
I always really enjoyed this place but the last few times I have been (July 2016) It has had the shutters down during normal opening hours. I feel it may have closed down?
F. S. A.
Loved this place since it opened, food is always excellent! Every time I visit Deptford it's my first choice for eating out.
D. N.
Went in there on the first day it opened after the refurbishment. A nice place. It gets really busy though where you might have to wait. You can get take out though.
M. C.
Excellent food, good service and prices are decent (not particularly cheap but the quality of the food is worth it).
E. A.
They are the best of the best. 10 +! You just need to go there and try. You are never ever going to be disappointed. Food is always fresh and delisious.

M. B.
Good food. Good portions. Dynamic staff. Nice decor. Can't ask for more really.
T. L. C.
The food is very good, but think they need a bigger restaurant to aconmodate the customer demand and have a better layout to attend ro customers.
P. G.
Really nice food and very nice small Restaurant with quick service. The size of the bowls is very good for 7£ for a main!
N. N.
Insanely delicious bowls of pho and bun bo hue, cannot wait to be back here!
C. F.
Nice place! Far better than cafe east. Not stable in quality but the worst is better than cafe east no matter in pho or starter. Only problem is cash only

S. M.
Delicious food with friendly staff and great service, Also very clean! I recommend getting Bun Tom Xao because it was delicious!

Great food but not enough seats. May have to queue ages outside the shop during peak time.
I.
It's a small local cafe with asian food. it's always full because the cuisine is brilliant. When I have the time I alway visit this place.
H. T.
Great food! Would having giving 5* but it's annoying when you can't book in advance so therefore only a 3*.
