Reviews of Café Rouge - Greenwich
D. I.
I like our local Cafe Rouge. I have had lunch there several times and the food and service have always been good! Staff is nice and friendly. I usually order the Duck Confit which tastes great. I have recently tried the burgers and they are also very good! I will be coming back in the future!

There was nothing really wrong with my visit. My first time in a Cafe Rouge and I probably wouldn't go again. But there was nothing wrong with it. Just not my vibes!
N. I.
Delicious food, and pleasant staff.2 stars down because lots items from the menu were not available, long waiting time and the place is a bit dusty. Otherwise, great for lunch.
D. C.
Been here a couple times on the weekend for lunch and can always get a table without a reservation. I usually get a set menu of two courses for £16.95. I love the chicken liver pâté and garlic mushroom on bread starters. The poulet breton (in the photo) was a good portion and my partner liked his fish (not part of the set menu. I’ve also tried other set menu mains such as the chicken Caesar salad which was average but wouldn’t recommend the black Angus burger and the sirloin steak frites which were small portions and really dry.

Lovely deco and very French. Great set meal deal and amazing veg soup and mushrooms on bread I'd say. The 7oz steak is unfortunately very burnt and tastes bitter as we'd need to have it well done for the our toddlers although the staff suggested it's better rawer. Chocolate fondant is no good at all. Staff is nice but very busy as I think it's understaff so it took longer than other restaurants to take order, bring the dishes and get us the bill. Will stick to the starters but more carefully with the main dish next time.
C. C.
Not too busy on a Monday, good service, lovely waitress, leffe on draft. It's all good. Quality food at decent price.
T. B. S.
Friendly service from the staff. The food was very tasty indeed. I'm only giving 3*, though, because of the size of the servings which, in my opinion, was small. The dish I ordered had two small pieces of chicken. It was the same with the beef bourguignon dish that my friend had. The portion was more like a generous starter.
I really like Cafe Rouge. But as Oliver Twist said, "Please, Sir, I want some more."
H. B.
We had an absolutely amazing meal with all our family. We had 2 children with us and they couldn’t have been sweeter and kept us all entertained with incredible service. Danni was an amazing waitress and because of her, we would continue to come back regularly!
P. T.
Sylvia gave me a fabulous welcome. She made sure my birthday breakfast was incredible. Also, Sylvia and her colleagues wished me Happy Birthday and presented me with birthday dessert and ice cream. it was a fabulous end to the morning. Plus the chefs did a great job in cooking my grand breakfast! Thank you Cafe Rouge Greenwich. Thank you, Sylvia. xx

Waitress was pleasant but they seemed busy so a bit of waiting around. Good food!
F. D.
Excellent French food and service every time at an affordable price. Lovely outdoor area to eat in too. We were greeted by an authentic French restaurant manager and well looked after. Highly recommended.
A. R.
Excellent prices and pretty good quality food. Quick service and the staff seemed pleasant. Only criticisms was that the cutlery and surfaces weren’t very clean.
S. B.
Warm welcome from Noel front of house also he was our waiter. Lovely meal and atmosphere. Getting back to normal. Enjoyed my birthday treat thank you
P. R.
Reasonable food. Service below average, with insufficient serving staff for the relatively few dining guests in the establishment at that time. Our waitress was run off her feet.
S. B.
omg food was amazing the cocktails were on point me and my daughter went and thoroughly enjoyed the set menu we had the manager is really friendly and attentive.
will definitely go back.
M. S.
My second home!! Whether it's just a coffee or a meal the service is always excellent by the most kind, cheerful, thoughtful staff. A really great team.
N. L. E.
Nice and efficient service. The place was quiet perfect for a casual Saturday lunch. Fair prices, food well presented, good portions and very tasty. I would definitely come back and recommend to others.
H. H.
Love the classic decor, pleasant and professional staff (Rafael and another French server) and decent set menu of this Cafe Rouge branch.
S. R. J.
It's understaffed and the food could have tasted better.
The waiters disappeared after we were served with our main course and an hour later we spotted one waiter moving about who we had to literally wave our hands to for minutes to get their attention for our dessert. The food had some really good ingredients but it came cold and really lacked taste like something was missing. The cakes were too cold and solid, straight from a cooler.
It's so understaffed that we could have walked out and no one would have noticed. The waiter apologised and said things will get better because they're going through some changes so I'm only taking out one star.
L. G.
Thank you for great service from Danni. Sad that meniu was very limited, no signature dishes available.
S. A.
Simple afternoon tea in comparison to others we have had. Very mini cheese baguette (vegetarian option), mini quiche (disliked this!), mini strawberry eclair and cute sultana scones (with jam and plenty of clotted cream). Choice of teas with refill if ordered within 1hr 30mins of initial order.
T. F.
I adore the decor, it has a beautiful vibe.
All the staff were very friendly, welcoming and fast throughout each stage of the service.
The starters is always the best every-time we go but the main I had wasn't pleasant for me, I had the beef bourguignon, I don't drink so when I taste the wine in my food it put me off, but the beef was soft and tender. The flavour wasn't for me.
But overall good experience and would come back again.
N. D.
Afternoon tea experience was a bit disappointing as everything except the ham sandwich came from the freezer. Although the price was £12.50 on the website when booking, was charged £15 per person on the day. Nice staff great service.
A. S.
Decent breakfast deal, typical pleasant interior and good service. No complaints and a good place to have Sunday breakfast. Much nicer when there's hardly anyone around, so maybe avoid busy periods during the week. Maybe we got lucky with our Sunday breakfast.
E. J.
Great food and a £17 deal that included two courses. Milk alternatives available for the generous pot of tea. Kitchen was very quick with our food but servers were a little slow cleaning up.

French Elegance
Stylish and elegant decor with a French influence.
We were offered a choice of seats & opted for a cosy corner table. Our waiter was professional, friendly and attentive. Our ice cream desserts & drinks arrived without much delay. Absolutely delicious!
A relaxed, lovely experience @ Cafe Rouge, Stratford!
P. M.
The food was not bad, and we have taken the deal from groupon, so the price was good as well
L. P.
Our family love this Cafe Rouge, the staff is always very friendly and gave adapted well to the new reality. The food is great, but a family favourite is the French Onion soup, which are absolutly delicious.
R. M.
Went to café rouge, the guy I was with asked if we could sit outside and be served he was told no. Given that COVID is still a thing I think the staff should have been ok with serving us outdoors, we went elsewhere in the end and found somewhere that was happy serving us outdoors.
My sis and I happened to be in the area and we ended up going to Cafe Rouge, we were able to eat out side and the service and the food was good.
L. M.
We recently moved to Greenwich and somehow I've never been to a cafe rouge, I thought it was just another chain with a very processed and ready meal sort of vibe. However I was mistaken, the food here was lovely as were the staff, the prices are decent (for London), and the decor and structure really did remind me of Paris. Will become our local!
N. G.
Love Café Rouge! Really enjoyed my tuna nicoise salad. As healthy as the meal was, I didn't feel like I was missing out. Everything was cooked perfectly. The service was good and the staff were very friendly. I highly recommend Café Rouge and also it's worth signing up to their newsletter as you get great offers all the time.
A. M.
Had a lovely breakfast here this morning plus lovely pot of tea great service and great staff will definitely be going again.
C. C.
Delicious food and great service. Second visit here and just as good as first visit..we will be back!!
M. M.
Very nice food, we only had breakfast, so can't comment on their other food on offer. Apart from my wife was given the wrong breakfast which the staff quickly resolved.
O. S.
I've been to a few Café Rouge locations and generally it's a pleasant experience.
On my visit to the Greenwich branch, I feel like standards are slipping slightly. Little things can make a big difference - good or bad.
When we arrived, there was nobody there to greet us. After a few minutes a waiter found us and it felt like he was walking aimlessly to find us a table. No real interaction with very few words spoken.
Once we sat down to eat, the whole setting was not relaxing. Lots of smashing and banging coming from the kitchen, and the staff at the reception managed to knock over a glass ornament which smashed and caused more commotion.
When our food arrived, the waiter consistently leaned over guests and their food to give another guest their food. It only requires a couple of steps and you can avoid leaning over anyone. This was frustrating.
I feel the above is just a bit of complacency and not a lot is needed to get these guys back up to the required standard.
The 3 stars was given because the food was good as it always is and they accepted my Taste Card so I could apply a discount.
J. J.
A party of us attended on Satruday night, opting for the set menu, which includes rump steak. We were asked to what point we would like our steak cooked, requesting medium-rare to medium. One half of the table received good chunks of medium rare steak, whereas my wife and I received thin, leathery, dry cremated meat. What made matters worse, we requested ketchup which came by the thimble-full. This essentially captures our overall experience. Some of the other food was reasonably nice.
T. G.
The food was absolutely delicious yum 😋 dani the waitress was an absolute sweetheart!! Defo coming back again :)
G. M.
Service was a little slow and food was average. A Coke ordered was flat and the replacement was not much better. Not the best Cafe Rouge we've been to.
S. G.
We stayed for 3 nights at The Ibis hotel Greenwich which gives breakfast at Cafe Rouge next door, every morning. We also ate at Cafe Rouge in the evening. I have to say the staff at Cafe Rouge are absolutely marvellous, attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and service faultless. Many thanks especially to Noelle who made our experience so delightfully French, we loved it, thank you and will definitely be returning.
n. j.
I had an offer for a free meal at Café Rouge, really nice place, it wasn't busy so the service was rapid. I enjoyed a burger and sweet potato chips which was very tasty.
L. S.
A lovely place to have a lunch date either with friends or on a date. The French manager is a joy.. A bit flustered at times but attentive. Try the bavette steak before it's taken off the menu - super juicy and with the fries too, a smorgasbord of delight. GO!!
L. C.
This French-themed restaurant provides casual food at reasonable prices. It has a range of meal deals and seasonal discounts. The decor looks a bit tired and in need of an update. The staff are friendly and keen to provide service with a tendency to upsell. The food is a mixture of French and traditional casual food. The food is decent, and the drinks are nicely varied. Overall it is a pleasant experience that is not too overpriced to give sharper criticism.
N.
Our meal was lovely, all staff nice and helpful.
S. L.
Service fine, restaurant nice, food-VERY small and quite pricey for French classics anyway e.g. minute steak is minute as in small. Probably OK burgers
J. J.
Surprisingly exceptional food. The menu did not look impressive but the food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Classic French bistro fare plus sone bar food. The big fat Steak was cooked to perfection. The beef bourgingon burger was exceptional.
Bravo

Have used a number of different Cafe Rouge locations over the years and have never had a poor experience however, a number were just ok. This trip to Greenwich on 7th Sept shows how the staff can elevate a trip to a chain restaurant to a whole different level. From the moment we arrived Alex was just excellent providing the perfect balance of humour, attention and service. When combined with good food prepared and presented well it just made for a wonderful visit. Even managed to say thank you to a smiling chef as left. Thank you all.
J. P.
Had a wonderful stay in Greenwich and went to Cafe Rouge for breakfast every day. The staff here are lovely - particularly Noel who was great company and a wonderful host. The food was amazing, beautifully cooked and always hot and fresh. Will certainly be back - highly recommended!!
C. R.
We enjoy to go out. Last night we came to this excellent restaurant which friends told us about. We spent a lovely experience there with great cooking and a nice team and a distinguished chef. We added this venue in our phone list and we shall surely go again very soon. We deeply recommend.
D. T.
My food and burger was good. Family less impressed but I enjoyed it
R. 1.
Danni looked after us impeccably! Large group with children and service was seamless. Food wonderful!
S. L.
Friendly atmosphere. Good choice of food and drinks. Every meal we've had here over the years been tasty. Though service can be super slow.
M. M.
Fantastic. Thank you Noel and Raff. Warm greeting from Noel made me feel special and very welcome. Great table service from both of these lovely gents. Delicious wine. Really tasty duck. Comfortable surroundings. Relaxing atmosphere. Give it a try. I'll be returning for sure.
A. S.
The waitress + waiters were really nice and attentive!
Breakfast was Amazing, really good prices for the area.
Only downside I'd say, the manager (i think it was, as he wasn't wearing the uniform and was telling some staff off) w came across quite rude.
M. V.
Every time so relaxed, love decor and building, always shocked by how time flies. Wonderful food too 😋
B. O.
Lovely breakfast after our morning run. Thank you Monta for being a wonderful hostess
-.
I ordered a burger and got a baguette. I didn't send it back as I was in a hurry but it was OK but salty. Staff were friendly and attentive so overall it's 3 stars.
A. N.
Lovely food with reasonable prices. Friendly staff. Cosy atmosphere. Very convenient location. Awsome student discounts. Drinks menu not very fancy but food is lovely.w
I. S.
The restaurant is not bad, although we didn't really like the food, but we were satisfied with the service, because we were served by a wonderful person named Christina, who was very friendly and polite, thanks to whom the place became very cozy and friendly, we were satisfied. Thank you Christina made us feel special and welcome.
J. R.
Though normally happy with Café Rouge, this particular branch has appalling service: 25 minutes until our orders were taken, 20 minutes from that to our starter, 40 minutes from that until our main. To add to the diappointment, the soupe à l’oignon – rather than being girlled with a layer of cheese on top – had a few token shavings of cheese but felt rather mean. Only bright spot was the delightful Lithuanian waitress; thanks to her I’m giving 3 stars as opposed to 2.
I. G.
Nice restaurant for lunch or dinner. A little bit tight if it comes to space but it has quick and friendly service. Overall I would recommend.
S. V.
We went there only for drinks. We had a lovely time and the sweet potato fries were amazing
J. M.
good terrace, great prices
terraces potable, au bon prix
I. G.
A Nice restaurant next to the hotel Ibis Greenwich. Good service and quick serving. The food is good and the menu is diverse, although it is a little pricey for the setting. But still you get good food for your money.
J. B.
What else can we say other than excellent! One of the better breakfasts we got there. Friendly staff and what a stylish design!
P. C.
Really nice Christmas dinner with the family! Great quality food at a reasonable price. C’est bon!
E. T.
Had a nice lunch at Cafe Rouge today it's been a long time. The menu is smaller and not everything was available even on the reduced menu, but the food was good and I enjoyed my garlic mushrooms (rather than pate) and fish cake.
K. R.
I visited Cafe Rouge Greenwich this morning for my 63rd birthday breakfast with wife and daugther. This is a tradition and staff are always welcoming.Covid 19 signage very clear. Menu very diverse and of a high qaulity.I had a Rouge breakfast and coffee, which was very good. I was surprised to receive a bottle of processco for my birthday .I recommend cafe rouge Greenwich for a warm welcome .great food qaulity service and value for money.
S. M.
My husband and I were given a voucher for a three course meal. I wasn't sure how this would go as we are both vegan and the French are not known for their vegetarian/vegan options!
I phoned ahead and explained. I spoke to a lovely man named Joseph. He was very understanding and said they could re jig some things on the menu to give us something to eat.
Once we arrived Joseph was then our waiter! The service he gave us was absolutely brilliant. It was our first date in a year and we felt so pleased. We were given more than enough options and the food was exceeded our expectations! I would definitely eat there again.
I. “. E.
Yummy breakfast just what I was looking for
Also wonderful service. Thank you everyone
Alvaro thank you for the recommendation
A. M.
Very nice staff was very friendly I would recommend anyone to go in there, nice place and food was fantastic
K. S.
Danni was a great waitress, food was nice and a lovely place to eat.
A. B.
Menu variety good. Wine choices a bit limited but prices favourable. Poor on noting comments when biking for particular seat but staff most accommodating and pleasant.
Г. М.
I loved this place. We went there for afternoon tea. I've gotten amazing service, even if there weren't gluten free desserts in the afternoon tea menu a chief prepared lovely gluten free sandwiches. The restaurant's administrator offered me to choose any gluten free dessert. It was super nice. I felt grateful, was treated nicely. You can notice it especially if you have some food allergies like me. It is important, because you can't eat everything and can left hungry and looking at others who are enjoying their meal. I would go there again if I had time.
P. K.
Always love a cafe Rouge. Service was a little slow on this particular occasion.
R. P.
We had the afternoon tea for two today and the service was fantastic! Joseph the manager is great - very attentive and his team are the same. Great customer service and the actual afternoon tea is delicious and very generous for the price! Welldone cafe rouge for keeping up such high standards in the current circumstances.
E. S.
The restaurant is really in Parisian style, this is something that really impressed me!
I've been there the first time for breakfast and it was superb!
Thus I decided to bring friends with me for lunch, this time it was a bit upsetting because of the slow services: 2h and 30min for lunch, a bit too much really.
However can't complain about staff, especially the manager, they were all very welcoming.
Food was okay, we had good time.
Recommend.
L. 1.
Beautiful food 😋 and such lovely staff. Raffaele thank you for your help with the 🦞 top man.
Also not having to wait long for the food which was great.
All.in all.great service
M. S.
Nice location to go for a meal or drink. Good service.
R. C.
Cafe Rouge is one of my favourites.
I have been back several times and the food and service is amazing.
Do yourself a favour and grab a buyagift voucher and eat a 3 course set menu for teo for under £30! It's a no brainer.
Highly recommend the French onion soup and beef bourguignon burger!
E. N.
Took a while to be seated however food arrived fast once we ordered.
m. s.
Outstandingly good food for the price and the venue is quite comfortable
I. D.
Excellent afternoon tea! Perfect place to sit with friends😎
D. O.
Good quality food, as you would expect from a Cafe Rouge. Mostly excellent service, but for a restaurant coupled to a hotel, service on the Sunday took an unfortunate dip, having to keep calling staff over for menus, then to order and then to chase for the food to be delivered. After we observed the manager having a stern chat with some staff it picked up again, and normal expected service resumed.
Breakfasts were particularly good, never had their breakfasts before, highly recommend these.
D. F.
Beautiful food and wine, nice setting, reasonably priced, very busy so could be a wait but gentleman 2as doing his best and very polite
J. K.
Food delicious, service outstanding, good place to go with family or alone.
K. G.
Fabulous staff . Really friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and the restaurant has a really relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

This is the first review I’m ever leaving for anything, but my experience at Café Rouge was definitely worth writing about. I’m generally a very picky person, and an even pickier eater due to both my parents being chefs and how they raised me when it comes to dining. I had an Americano as a starter, which was the perfect way to begin the journey of my taste buds. I ordered the Omelette with cheese and ham which was accompanied by a side of chips. The omelette was cooked just right, it was the perfect balance between all the flavours in it. The chips added to the meal in abundance, making it an utterly fitting dish for a Sunday brunch. For dessert, I ordered the Crème Brûlée. My oh my, was it heavenly. The caramelised custard was not burned as I find other places often do, and it brought harmony to the enriched creamy texture of the inside of the dessert, which I also often find either too milky or too sweet - not this time. The customer service was delightful and welcoming, and I definitely will be back for more. Definitely recommended.
A. P.
Just wanna say Big Thank you to Mr Joseph 🙏🏻 he have a brilliant customers service ! He was really friendly and professional! Definitely we will back ! Thanks once Again !!!
E. F.
Wonderful food, wonderful company. Pretty quiet at lunch so perfect atmosphere.
L. T.
I visited the restaurant from times to times. The food was decent but quality was not that great however it was proper cooked. The service was varied from my experience. Most of the time is pleasant.
E.
The waiter was very warm and welcoming and made us feel special. They provided Afternoon Tea last minute despite being busy which really was appreciated as it was a beautiful sunny day. The outside area is very nice to sit at and it was lovely! I would certainly recommend their delicious Afternoon Tea and will be going back there again very soon. Thank you
I. D. A.
Food was alright, but service needs alot more table attendance. Wasn't the best but wasn't the worst either.
H. M.
Very good menu, food well prepared; good choice for kids both under 2 and under 7. Good and friendly service. H
J. M.
Great restaurant. Friendly staff. Well worth a visit, even if for a coffee.
P. W.
It's standard chain fare and fairly good, but the special Leffe beer batter on my fish was unnoticeable. Seemed rather like something from a supermarket freezer, so perhaps a bit overpriced, really. They are closing branches, so they need to try a bit harder to survive.
c. m.
The meal was nice despite the fact that I went for a basic chicken roast. The rose wine was also nice and the waiters were on point. Asking show things are and generally making sure we are happy with the service which was nice.
M. B.
Nice Christmas dinner the past 2 times we've been; however, this time the food was rushed for the first 2 courses and the 3rd course (sorbet) was not served to us with no explanation as to why not - when I checked the bill, the sorbet was itemised but no charge; it would have been nice to have been advised it wasn't available. Waitress was exceptionally good. Not too sure if we'll go again next year.
J. R.
Café Rouge is good for a casual meal, I prefer their breakfast or lunch over dinner. It tries really hard to be French, but it still feels a little too much like a chain, not very genuine at times. Service was OK, a little rushed. Food and drinks were good.
W. L.
Excellent food and service, highly recommended when your in Greenwich. Mussels with the garlic and wine sauce were perfect.
Y. S.
Food, service and prices are good.
A. K.
We purchased breakfast from Ibis hotel located next door. My full English was good size and very tasty, my husband's pancakes looked very tasty but portion could be bigger. It took waiter some time before taking our orders and quite long for the order to be prepared although it was Monday and we were almost the only clients. For those few small things I have to deduct 1 star. Definitely this cafe is better than hotel next door
G. S.
Very busy when we went but we had booked in advance, unfortunately it took a very long time for both service and our food, because of it altogether we probably spent about 3 hours in the restaurant, because of how much waiting we did. Being a vegetarian I alway enjoy my meal at cafe rouge, yet every time I go with meat eaters there aren’t impressed with there meals at all and describe them as ok, edible but not amazing... Unfortunately being vegetarian I can’t try the meals to determine the problem but it is a constant flagged issue with my meat eater friends. One dish came wrong as we requested no chutney and it came with anyway, but after waiting so long my friend just scraped it off and ate some of it but as mentioned wasn’t impressed at all. The waiter was very apologetic about all our waiting time but we weren’t offered anything as compensation for our waiting times, in the future I would probably only go here with vegetarians and If it were quite on the day and not busy. I’ve had the same feedback from meat eaters and other cafe rouge restaurants so maybe it’s an overall issue at all branches ?
S. 9.
So the food was decent and nice and I didn't have to wait long, I only had a coffee and a starter. But it was quite busy with people at mid-day so I do think it is a nice place to eat I will return for Christmas Dinner and update then too.
07/12/19 - Three course dinner
Today the service was a little slow, but I guess it was because there were alot more people to attend to for the Christmas Dinner. With abit or prompting or reminding the courses we're coming. Overall the food was excellent everyone enjoyed it. I found some things abit bland such as the vegetables that came with the baked Wellington Veg for the main so I seasoned them with salt. Date and stem ginger pudding with ice cream was lovely, and a good decent size. I feel the courses I chose were the largest between my friends. So I was satisfied.

We were delighted to find Greenwich had a Cafe Rouge as our one in Nottingham closed many years ago, which we were sad about.
Greenwich was amazing, the food delicious, the staff so helpful & welcoming. And in Particular we would like to name Charlotte our waitress who gave us exceptional service.
H. D.
Went here with my sister, her partner, my niece and some friends on a Saturday lunchtime. Overall, a lovely time. Booked the table online (being the responsible uncle that I am) and the process was hassle free. They had forgotten to put the high chair out for my niece but the friendly waitress rectified this immediately. We all enjoyed our food (I had the steak frites) and the 2 course deal was great value for money. The ambience is perfect for young families and my niece had a great time. The only suggested improvement would be the baby changing facilities. The table was too high and the hand dryer made my niece cry, but apart from that it was an excellent family day out.
J. G.
Good coffee, nice style but slightly under the expectations for the coffee chain Café Rouge. I've been in a few from the same group and the atmosphere was more inviting and caring. Slightly understaffed as well and maybe the reason why the awating time was so long.
j. M.
As always in all Cafe Rouges the food was excellent. Lovely smallish restaurant. Went on a Sunday morning for brunch. Was with my guide dog puppy and they made us feel very welcome and accommodated her without any fuss (apart from fussing the dog 😁)
N. A.
We arrived late for a very busy brunch. Was sat immediately by the manager having told him we had to get a train.
Service initially was a little slow, but the Manager came over and took care of everything.
Great food. Great service. Huge thank to all the staff!
A.
We had purchased afternoon tea for 6 at the Cafe Rouge. There was a slight delay with the service in general but they were very busy and did apologise accordingly. The food was very well presented and also very nice. (all plates cleared!) Would definitely visit again if we were in the area.
L. L.
Nice friendly staff, but service can be a little slow. Food is always consistently decent and it's good value.
L. H.
A taste of France in London. What's not to like. As usual friendly helpful staff and good food. Will definately go back!
P. W.
Fairly well managed re social distancing good food.
T. T.
Such a lovely meal and fantastic service even though it was really busy! It was also lovely that we were not hurried and could take our time over our meal. The Cafe Rouge in Greenwich seems spacious even when full so we could talk and hear each other easily too.

I've been here a few times now and, while the food can be great (try the beef bourguignon, avoid the beef burger), the service can be terminally slow and inattentive. This isn't the fault of the waiters - when you see them, they do their job well - but simply of understaffing. The restaurant is on the large side (including a generous terrace), but there simply aren't enough people to cover the space. Worth checking out only if you're not in a rush!

Pretty much the same as most of the chain. The beautiful sun meant we could sit outside which really added to the atmosphere of the cafe scene with the buzz of laughter and chatting and children playing etc. Food was very good although the service was a bit slack at times. Worth a visit on a hot summers day.
F. P.
Great french bistro style restaurant, one of a chain, and the standard is uniformly very good. Excellent tasty food is well presented and nicely served by charming staff. One of my regular stops in Greenwich.
R. H.
Great breakfast and a very good host. One of the best cafe rouge restaurants i have been too.
J. H.
The staff in cafe Rouge are what make it stuck a great place to visit, they are friendly and told us honestly that they were busy and there wound be delay in service before we were seated which i think is superb. The food is incredible, all very well priced for such a nice restaurant. Friendly atmosphere. There is a ramp for those with mobility needs.

Fantastic food and service in the heart of wonderful Greenwich
G. B.
I took advantage of 25% off their à la carte menu, and didn't regret one mouthful! Being a French restaurant, I would have preferred a larger choice of wines, but what they had was good. Great ambiance, great service: I give it 5/5.
C. F.
Lovely french chain restaurant with great food. The service is usually good and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. I can recommend the french onion soup as it was delicious and the duck main! It is just round the corner from Cutty Sark and Greenwich stations so easily accessible.
F.
In the heart of Greenwich, this restaurant offers a lovely selection of French dishes.
Lovely service delivered by the French manager with blue glasses. Highly recommended for all. Bravo !
K. M.
Did the £3 wunto deal and the food was delicious I had a croque madame and my. Friend had the rouge burger so tasty!! And the soft drinks come in tall glasses so you aren't charged loads for the equivalent of a can the staff are super friendly and can't do enough for you!
M. K.
A lovely place in Greenwich yo have tea .
P. G.
Good food and generous portions

The best Burger ever , I don't usually like beef Burgers, but this one it was amazing. I recommend it. 👍👍💜

I'm having a difficult time with this review. We had a table of 10 people, most of us were just having drinks.
4 of us ordered food, the first 2 people who ordered a steak (evening set menue) and burger had an incredible thick perfect medium rare steak and great burger.... we were very satisfied.
The other 2 who ordered set menu steak about 15 mins after us recieved a fully thoroughly cooked steak that was thin, long and grey colour, and arrived very late. These 2 people had ordered a medium rare and a medium steak, both arrived well done with no signs of any pinkness.
They complained to the waiter/manager and the restaurants response was "The steaks are all different thicknesses so we can't guarantee a thick steak or a thin steak, its chefs discretion how cooked a steak is to quality as medium or well done etc". Needless to say sending a well done thin grey steak to a cordon blu trained chef was a big mistake and the response was not satisfactory either. Our friends ordered burgers instead, and thankfully the restaurant didn't charge for their initial mishap. The burgers tasted great.
I would say that the food is not consistent, and if you are ordering steak then make sure to state if you want a thick or thin steak, and make sure they understand how cooked you want it.

Fantastic location, parking can prove to be tricky, specially at weekends. Great place to bring your kids. Great outside space. Good selection of food and drinks.
Very clean. The only slight downside was the service, I think the place would benefit from having friendlier waiting employees.
S. P.
Fab delivery team. Cafe Rouge has a particular place in my memories having visited it over many years. I've eaten here with my mother, my partner and outside with my dog. All now unfortunately passed away. So it saddens me to see it much faded by the years and not in a stylish way. It's not comfortable to see ones own years reflected in a favourite eatery. Please give the place a face lift. I'll have one too.the 😉

I have 2 complaints about this restaurant. The first is the presence of an extra fee for sauces. The sauce that accompanies a steak is an integral part of the experience, it should not be viewed as an optional extra.
The second is the fact that the Tarte was probably microwaved: the inside was very hot, while the outside was cold. It did arrive suspiciously quickly.
Ignoring this palate-burning, mouth-incinerating, statistically insignificant discrepancy, the food and service were excellent.
5. P.
It was a nice one. Food good. Service very good
S. R.
Inexperienced staff, rushed service, decent meal
B. S.
I ordered the beuf bourguignon, the smash potatoes tasted as if it was almost gone bad. The meat part of it was good but the smash potatoes freshness makes you wonder how fresh everything is.
The hot chocolate was not really tasty.
T. D.
Me and my girlfriend are in London and went here for lunch. The food was okay but the volume here is very high because it's so crowded and the staff isn't very service-minded. I'm like I am and smile and say thank you so much and that was ignored, additionally we sat here for 5 minutes before anyone noticed we hadn't been served. Other than that, it was okay, the food was decent but nothing extraordinary and the wine I had was great.
C. M.
Won't win any awards but ok if desperate for some food.
a. m.
Brill. Waiter was great ,worthy of a big tip 👏 unfortunately forgot cash and it was to late to tip by card. So well done dude!!!
D. B.
The Cafe Rouge in Greenwich has never failed to provide really good food in a lovely atmosphere. I have been with one person and a coach load of people and the result has always been the same. There can sometimes be a delay on the delivery of food but if you are with interesting people what the heck. Ema a waitress from Lithuania was efficient and fun and strangely had the same name as my granddaughter Emma, who was with me, but she had only one m.
M.
A completely average place, what you would expect, although a little more expensive then it is worth. Had to argue with the manager that the toast was basically stale and cold by the time we got it, although he did give in.
M. A. H.
It was a shame that we had to sit with smokers but we were welcome with out dog. We had a lovely evening.
C. G.
We dropped by accident there. But i tell you we were lucky.since we had a fantastic dinner there.
The waiter even offered us a 50 %discount for next day lunch
But we were staying in London which is a fair way from greenich.
But i recomend it highly.
H. D.
Always okay. Nice food. Nice terrace. Nice place to take a rest.

This cafe rouge is very good. Food was great for adults and drinks suitable. --The only comment are
1) kid menu not diverse enough and kids should be able to order from "a la carte" if parents so wish.
2) carrot sticks and cucumber sticks as starters in kids menu are not appetizing at all and therefore i am not surprised kids do not eat it.
3) dauphinoise potatoes served with duck was not cooked enough in my view.
4)Finally, very little bread given: there should be automatic provision of breads with refill included.
Saying that this cafe rouge had ample space, adult food was tasty (Love the duck), the quantity of food was better than the one served in other cafe rouge and drinks with acceptable price.
Staff were friendly, helpful and professional.
I will return to this cafe rouge Greenwich.
R. T.
Not 5 star cos i had to wait 5min to be seated
M. D.
When we arrived we asked for a high chair, however after few reminders I had to go and get it myself. The food service was quick however eggs Benedict was a disappointment. The eggs were overcooked which is the key point of this dish really.
R. 1.
Loved the food, staff were really friendly, little mixup with orders but everything was easily resolved and got a 50% off mains voucher at the end of the meal, would definitely go again!
P. b.
Food was great, service great atmosphere was very nice, we were on our way to a comedy festival and we had travelled far, so Cafe Rouge was spit on
U. S.
Place is very cosy. Not very fancy. Had steaks.. sirloin steak is ok rib eye also very nice. Problems with the cooking points had to send mine back because I asked for it to be Mr it came out medium. Staff is friendly. I recommend.
F. B.
The waiter was efficient and friendly so the service was very good. We were a tad disappointed with portion size espdcially the pate starter. It all tasted fab though.
M. P.
That's a beautiful place, we're feeling comfortable, the food is very good and waiter and waitress are really nice !
T. L.
The first day out for a meal 12th April. A bit cold but excellent service. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The first of many hopefully 🤞.
E. b.
Slow service. And wrong order provided
R.
Food, good; service, slow; dessert menus, filthy; had to go up and ask for our bill due to waitress disappearing with no cover. Plate collection/busing extremely loud in the centre of the restaurant.
C. J.
The service was impeccable. Swift but not rushed, welcoming and human. Beautifully decorated with French ambience. The beof burginon looked superb as chicken in white wine sauce. We thought the crab and avocado starter was rather flavourless. The Boulibase had so much fish in it, superb although again I felt the sauce lacked something, maybe garlic and herbs. But I would go again and again because service and the people you're with is the most important aspect. Thank you Cafe Rouge Greenwich for a lovely, relaxed afternoon.
P.
Reliable food from this chain. Service is notoriously slow; not in a laid back, European way but in an "I ordered a bottle of wine 20 minutes ago" way.
Of course service isn't always slow but its surprising that this has been a issue for many years.
G. S.
Quick and pleasant service, pleasant location. Steak-frites good value.
F. B.
Quite a large restaurant. Not really a "romantic table for two" place. None-the-less good enough for an evening out for dinner. Staff are attentive. Beuf-beugnou was extremely tasty and tender. Not overly big servings.
G. S.
Very good staff and meals options were well explained. 6 at the table were all impressed with the food. Many thanks. My son's 19th birthday
M. A.
Amazing cafe! Popped in for lunch and desserts with a friend and we were both very satisfied with the service we received. The decor is pretty, the cafe itself is very clean and well maintained. Highly recommend if you're in the Cutty Sark area.
F. S.
The food is nice, but in my case it was cold, the service very slow. Restaurant was not even half full, what a shame but that's the last time you will see me here.
S. E.
Good place to eat, a lady (Sandra) made our visit a delightful one, thank you. If you plan on eating here, make sure someone knows you're there, it's easy to get missed due to how busy it gets.
B. F.
Yet another Cafe Rouge embracing the old style and performing well. The staff were friendly and happy the wine good and the food superb. Try the smoked Cod it is excellent. Very well recommended.
n. w.
We popped in here for tea and cake - scrummy :)
M. C.
Christmas family meals with 16-20 people have been excellent for a number of years. Everyday snacks and meals also good and reasonable value with friendly, polite service always.
m. f.
Stopped there for breakfast. Service was a bit slow to start as only two tables in but had to wait quite a while, food was good but be clear with the waiter as ordered extra sausage and bacon but only got the sausage.
J. H.
Food took ages to be delivered to our table. Steak was not cooked to our standards. Not a lot of choices on the menu. Overall the service otherwise was satisfactory.
I. B.
Nice food nice staff reasonably priced clean and tidy
D. P.
The basic principles still attract us; simple classic French dishes with some decent wine. Unfortunately a lot of outlets look dated and staff are inefficient, making this a below average experience most of the time.
C. B.
I have loved Cafe Rouge restaurants for 30 years for their touch of French bistro style eating and ambience. This one in Greenwich is one of the nicest, with very friendly staff and one of the nost attractive locations in London. Close to Greenwich Park, the National Maritime Museum and the Cutty Sark, and if that's not enough walk up the hill past Greenwich Theatre to the meridian line at the Royal Observatory!!!!
A well planned day out to enjoy Maritime Greenwich could see you having breakfast, lunch and dinner at this Cafe Rouge :)
K. V. B.
Efficient service... food delivered promptly and was excellent. Recommend this place
J. B.
Came here with some friends for lunch mid week. Easy to get a table. Clean and efficent service. My boeuf bourguignon was nice enough, and the others reported similarly for their dishes (mushroom risotto and fish and chips).
T. E.
Delicious food and good atmosphere
M. S.
My friend and I think of ourselves as regulars here. Whatever time of the day the food is good, the staff are cheerful and go the extra mile and treat us like old friends. Always a pleasure to go there!
S. B. (.
You know what you're getting at Cafe Rouge - relatively simple food for a reasonable price.
Went there with my four-year-old daughter at slightly after noon on a Tuesday. The place was practically deserted, with just a few other diners - mostly other parents with their kids.
Food was as expected, and my daughter enjoyed her "menu pour les enfants" sausages, despite the unadvertised presence of peas and sweetcorn ;-)
Service was very slow. It took more than an hour between arriving and leaving, despite me ordering from the "Plats Rapide" section of the menu - GYAC, Cafe Rouge, chicken in a baguette should only take as long as the chicken takes to cook .. 10 minutes? Maybe something was lost in translation. In any case, we were pretty much ignored between courses and had to resort to waving for attention. And this was with the restaurant at less than 10% of its capacity - ghod help you when it's full.
Location is good - just a few feet away from the cinema (which is why we were in Greenwich and trying to finish our meal before our film started), and the centre of Greenwich.
Oh, and a note for the staff - you're not fooling anybody with those obviously fake French accents. Least of all the French customer on the table next to mine who struggled to make himself understood while you kept telling him you didn't understand .. with your French accent. Priceless entertainment.
G. W.
I had low expectations but was pleasantly surprised by the quality and value at this "chain" bistro. You could do a lot worse for a lot more around here. The Prix Fixe menu is recommended for a good value. Try the Vol au Vent as a starter. It pains me to say it, but the best I've ever had.
M. S.
Great food and atmosphere. The service was good at the beginning but sadly went down hill. I think they were changing staff but the food was lovely
P. W.
A treat after the winter lockdown. I enjoyed the steak and chips. Service from Noel and Joseph was friendly.
Z. I.
Very good choice of food, good prices, service and location
J. S.
The staff is very friendly and the food is terrific. Highly recomend.
L. D.
Location, outdoor seats and cold drinks are the only good things here. Food is avrage and quite expensive and service is non existent. Non of the staff will check on you and you need a miracle to get their attention if you would like to make an order or get the bill.
c. m.
Oh my days! The food was awesome! I had a crevette starters and a tarte tatin. It can get quite noisy inside though due to the layout, but there is also space outside.
I recommend this place.
B. J.
Great to be back inside Cafe Rouge..staff attentive, food excellent, not too many customers but good atmosphere..😁
J. C.
Waitress was delightful. Good atmosphere but food (salmon) tasted odd (may have been hanging around a bit?).
A. F.
We had the Soufflé followed by the Lamb Shank on the specials and Bouef Bourguignon served with mashed potatoes. Hot and delicious food. Cooked excellently. Friendly waitress and waiter with good service.
P. G.
Great food.3 starters. 3main, 2 deserts.4 drinks just short of £100.
K. S.
Very attentive service for me and my family. We all enjoyed our starters and main courses were cooked as we requested. Nice warm decor and atmosphere!
C. D.
Quality has diminished. Service without a smile and slow, disappointing.
D. i.
Very welcoming staff but unfortunately the table service was extremely slow. After 20 minutes of waiting for our drinks, one of our drinks came out with ice that had nearly melted in it.
F. U.
Enjoyed a nice breakfast here, sausages were sublime and great customer service
Thanks guys
A. A.
SImply put, the customer service is good, their coffee and deserts are very good but their mains were mediocre and definitely not worth their price.
I was also disappointed with the coldness with my pulled beef burger...
S. P.
I love a cafe rouge
But very pricey and the Greenwich one is really dirty!
From the decor and the fixtures and fittings to the tableware plates glasses etc..
They need to give it a good spring clean
N. K.
Delicious, lots of choices and quick service
J. P.
Poor, surprisingly inattentive - food OK, drinks after breakfast arrived - all of it barely hot, coffee too - if I didn't ask, nothing happened ! No water, no ketchup - still no "anything else" or even the bill, after clearing 15 mins ago.. ..up and down asking for everything !
K. H.
Tasty breakfast in a convenient location with great waiting staff
J. F.
Good food at reasonable prices.
L. G.
One of my favourite cafes in Greenwich. Lovely breakfast option with indoor and outdoor seating. Very cute place!
E. F.
The food was up to a good standard after a cold day. Warm welcome, but due to demand service was very slow
v.
Excellent cucumber and watermelon G&T. Chicken was good too. Steak could use some work but the fries (aka chips) were great.
S. M.
Noel our waiter was very good. New menu lovely.
P. H.
These guys offers the best coffee in the area. I visit them every morning before I go to work. The staff is great, they always server my coffee and breakfast with smile, which helps for better start of the day.
S. F.
Great, went with friends and had my own vegan menu- lovely to be catered for without having to scrabble through a menu looking for a vg....staff were friendly, didn't feel rushed and not overpriced! 😁
J.
Lovely people and service they really deserve the best👌
T. S.
Always finish our Saturday morning walk here with the newspaper and a plate of sausage for the hound. We sit outdoors of course but we are always made to feel very welcome and are well looked after (there’s always a bowl of water for the boy!)
G. B.
Great welcome for our coach party yesterday.. Attentive and quick service.. Many thanks👍
e. h.
Had Christmas lunch but wasn't the best
N. m.
Decided to try it on a limb... i was amazed by the professionalism and food quality and presentation... every thing we ordered was accordingly with our request and tasted heavenly... from fish to prawns... perfect
A. P.
The food and service were good, but the portions are fairly small for their price (the beef bourguignon at least)
M. C. S.
Excellent food. The staff is polite and friendly. The place could be less noisy, but apart from that it is really good. It is a cosy place.
D. C.
Decent French themed grand cafe with long wait times (despite many open tables, in order to create a line outside and the perception that it's in demand). The food is far too basic and expensive to justify another visit.
A. S.
Excellent hotel staff very friendly. Food very good. Rooms superb. The only hotel we stay when coming up to London.
A. B.
I had the chicken & it was very dry! Mum had duck, she said it was tasty but not very hot!
K. H.
Great taste, buzzing atmosphere, good service
A. M.
This was my first experience and it didn't disappoint. Excellent service very good food and wine. Highly recommend 👍
J. I.
Lovely atmosphere. Food always very good. Nice place to visit either for a lunch or an evening meal. Service always very good.
C. G. (.
Dropped in just for an ice icream. It took time to be served. The waiter said ' Perfection takes time' and the desert was indeed perfect
E. J. M.
Lovely coffee and dessert choices. The service is very slow though and it's hard to get the staffs attention, even when it's not busy.
j. k.
Excellent breakfast and a good evening meal. Staff are lovely and efficient and a nice atmosphere. Well done to you all!!
R. S.
Great Staff They Were Very Attentive. This Is A Lovely Place
T. S.
Great food. Reasonably priced. Esp when using a gourmet card and getting 25% of the total bill. Staff very helpful, friendly and kind.
f. s.
I didn't like the beetroot starter much nor the lemon dessert (too much pastry and sugar for my ke- togenic vegetarian diet) but the general service was good
C. P.
A lovely place to meet friends outside rain or shine. Friendly service and good food.
C. W.
Lovely place to sit outdoors in Greenwich. Such reliable good food.
H. S.
My husband had a starter : oignon soup which was very very good! After we all had mussels which was ok...not so excited about those... And the staff was not very friendly
T. G.
Nice outside seating area and the food was great!
P. O.
Good food and atmosphere, quite busy on weekend evening so service was a bit a slow. Staff helpful and friendly.
s. c.
Loved it, good food and pleasent staff and very helpful x
N. M.
Good service and food 👌
s. a.
Great food but had to wait quite while before being asked for drinks and even longer to order the food, not good.
N. F.
We waited an hour to receive our food but 🤷🏻♀️. Despite the speed, the service was still good and the food was bangin'!
D. W.
Same quality of food you'd expect at Cafe Rouge, but music unnecessarily loud and waiting staff not as attentive as other Cafe Rouge restaurants I've eaten at.
B. N.
Had a warm welcome from the staff and very good service.
Had a lovely breakfast. A nice place to hang.
M. S.
Great food, excellent service. Used a voucher for 50% off mains on their website so was a great price as well.
A. S.
Great food which reminded me of home, a little pricey however definitely recommend!!
D. S.
Always looked after by the staff. Been to a few Cafe Rouge, but this was my first visit to their Greenwich restaurant, and the service was great.
N. T.
Fair taste of the desserts...
a. d.
Very relaxed, no booking necessary. Exelent staff and food. reasonable price. One of my favourite places.
X. L.
Not my favorite chain to be honest. Had a lunch there with a soup as it was crowded and I didn't have enough time either.
T. V.
Enjoyed a lunch with my daughter. She is a student and cafe gives 40% discount for students. Very nice!
M. H. W.
Had nice moules frites, accompanied by a pint of Leffe Blonde, and a very nice cheese platter to follow. Service was friendly and quick
C. N.
Great atmosphere and our waiter Ersin was friendly attentive and efficient. The service and food were excellent
A. C.
A bit hit and miss with service but no denying the food is good. Don't order house wine, it's sour.
a. b.
Nice meals and nice staff
r. w.
I had the White Bait. Duck. Tasted great. Attentive staff and lovely atmosphere. Nice evening had by all.
A. H.
The food was good however we found the service to be slow but friendly when we eventually were attended to .
A. D.
Excellent food and service. One of my favourite places of all time
L. S.
Food and service was good .
The head waiter was very nice and ensured that we were all happy
