Service is always good. Menu is great. Vegan options are tasty. There is a really good salad selection for lunch. The avo + chocolate vegan cake bangs! Had the mushroom on toast for lunch, was really tasty and the tamarind sauce was delish but on the whole a little too salty

Great hummus, but we didn't feel like the vegan jackfruit shawarma had that much flavour, and half of the dish is made up of plain rice, which was a bit boring. It was someone's birthday in our group, and it was nice to be offered a shot on the house. After splitting and paying our bill, we were about to leave when we were told we had underpaid by £25. Upon checking, the staff member realised their colleague hadn't added a bottle of wine to the bill, which we then paid for before leaving. It would have been better for them to double check the bill before accusing us of under paying.

Wow, this place is awesome! Such a fantastic venue for enjoying the sunshine and amazingly healthy dishes. I ordered the pulled pork with two salad choice and it blew my mind! The salads are so diverse and delicious, I tried the carrot and aubergine salads but they all looked great. Meals start at around 10 pounds, that’s 10 pounds well invested in my opinion! I’ll be back to small their breakfast next time. #BeatTheGrind

We keep coming back to Route for the food - particularly breakfast and brunch as the portions are huge and the food is super fresh. Everything is tasty, well cooked and arrives in a flash! I would love it if there were one or two smaller, lighter brunch/breakfast options available too, as I often don’t manage to eat more than half a portion, which feels wasteful. My boyfriend appreciates how generous everything is, though! Folk at Route, your coffee needs an upgrade: we always skip coffee here and go elsewhere before or afterwards. Good service - polite, friendly, and accommodating.

Great booking practice; everyone was friendly. When we attended the staff were friendly but half way through our meal they took the plates from under us to end the night early - this was while we were eating and our spoons were in the food. I was mid-mouthful when they reached to take my plate. Quite rude and off putting, making us leave straight after. Recommend booking very early in the evening to avoid disappointment.

I am a regular at cafe Route. I get my morning coffee there every day. The team is absolutely amazing they all know my order so all I have to do is tap my card. Wow, most likely had the best brunch ever in London. I asked for the Mediterranean breakfast and it was sooo tasty. My girlfriend was also delighted with her food. It's Christmas time and I want to go somewhere with great food and better central heating. Due to cafe route good ratings I found myself at this joint. The food is fresh, the staff are friendly and the atomsphere is even warmer. Thumbs up by me.

Edit.: I have to lower their rating since in couple of my latest visits, the main dishes have been incredible overloaded with oil and greasy. Previous review: Delicious food, huge portions. Everything is fresh and high quality ingredients. People are nice. Only minus is that the food has also sometimes, not always but too often, much more oil than is necessary. If they would use less oil, everything would be perfect!

Soothingly muffled even when crowded, thanks to high ceilings and wooden surfaces, this gem of a place is sporting fast service and even faster WiFi at ~75Mbit. Enjoyed my smooth oat cappuccino powder-topped with brown sugar. Lots of light and life inside.

AMAZING ! Only popped in for a quick takeaway bite, so ordered 'The Hangover' which is scrambled egg and cheese in a soft tortilla wrap with Chorizo on top. . . OMFG it was divine ! At first glance it looked a bit wet as it was in a cardboard box for a bit before I ate it, but I was soooo wrong. The Chorizo was fantastic, the egg, cheese and wrap combo was full of flavour and perfectly cooked. Well played Cafe Route !!

Have a coffee from here most days. Very friendly staff, soya and almond milk as dairy free options. Cafe/deli with small wine shop. Excellent coffee and good intolerance menu. Good amount of options for various dietary requirements. Always packed at the weekends, lovely staff - always a pleasure (very rarely give 5 stars) Wine sold by the bottle to take away as well as local bottled beers. Good for last minute alcohol gifts.

Nice place. Pretty expensive - especially cause our coffees were not great (no crema on top and cold when arrived to the table). Service charge added automatically. Our waitress was great, it was windy and she saw us struggling and moved us inside.

Edit: Many months later, Cafe Route has gotten much better. I wouldn't call it attentive service, but the experience is solid. And the food is just as good as ever. Upgrade to 4 stars. The food here is really good, but the staff can't handle many customers. I've been here twice in the last several weeks where, despite having many empty seats, the staff couldn't even acknowledge me standing at the entrance hoping to be seated. After several minutes, I just left. Today I was actually seated and then ignored while the staff ran around seating other people, taking orders randomly rather than sequentially. Pretty frustrating. Overall, Cafe Route is still a great space with solid coffee and good food. The experience is hit or miss, but when it's good, it's really good.

A fantastic cafe in a great location, right next to Dalston Junction. Plenty of sun or moonlight comes in from the windows. The dishes on the menu are excellent and healthy and include many veg options. The drinks selection and coffee is also great. Overall, a great cafe to go to for any meal or to have a coffee or a drink. Staff are also very friendly.

If you live in Hackney (and if you don't) you should pop into Cafe Route and chill out in there. For years I've been looking for a place where I can meet up with a friend or two and chill and have something to eat or have a coffee. The staff in there are so awesome I wish I could take them home and they go above and beyond.

We had a fabulous experience at Cafe Route. We were having a birthday breakfast for my partner's close friend and we baked a cake for her without letting her know. The manager was really kind, personable and attentive - the restaurant delivered a perfect surprise for the birthday girl and it was a really touching moment. What's more touching is he even packed a little hamper bag for her. I have never experienced a restaurant goes extra miles for a guest like this, especially that all of us are new to this place. Eggs royale and Mediterranean breakfast are brilliant although vegetarian breakfast was on the less interesting side.

This place is very very good! Located in Dalston's heart, especially in summer, you can enjoy an amazing brunch outside while watching all the activities in the lively Dalston Square. The food is not expensive and the quality is awesome! I recommend to take one of their homemade cakes!!

The portions, I have to agree with other reviewers, are on the small side - especially when a lot of places in the local areas offer the same stuff at lower prices. The cafe is in a nice quiet spot in the square though set away from the carnage and pollution of the high street which I imagine is why its such a popular spot. The coffee however, is excellent.

What a great find - we happened upon this deli when staying in Dalston and were wandering around looking for somewhere to get breakfast. It was so good we went two days running! I go here for weekend hangover cures. It is very popular and the food explains why. Sadly it seems eggs benedict has been removed from menu which is was my favourite. Plenty of choice, but watch out for busy times if you are on your own as you may be staring awkwardly into a stranger. I've been asked to move a couple of times to accomodate a table, which is a big no for me...at least give me my coffee or something. In short great food, but maybe not the place for relaxing personal space.

A great cosy feeling, bustling cafe to go to if you are in Dalston. Good for brunch, lunch, dinner or for working in with your laptop. Absolutely amazing. Whatever you want - Coffee and cake, brunch, lunch or dinner and a bottle of wine. All the food here is top class and such a friendly atmosphere. Brunch - don't miss the smashed avocado with bacon. The veggy breakfast is also delicious (and I'm a meat eater). Beautiful Monmouth coffee to go alongside. Lunch - their homemade salads are healthy and delicious - not in the way that people say that rabbit food is delicious - it genuinely tastes amazing. the sweet potato salad is my fave. Don't miss it! Dinner - the lamb is to die for! Have it alongside salads and the sea bass ceviche. The Spanish wine they have on the specials menu is the one to go for. To top it all off the staff are great! Speedy, polite and informal - its perfect if parents are in town and you need somewhere relaxed and delicious. Can't fault it.
