Reviews of Chinese Overseas Sichuan restaurant
F. Z.
Actually a bit of a let down as I've been looking forward to try this place for a long time due to difficulties in parking. Their authentic Sichuan dishes were only average and the portions size were pretty small for the price. But I guess if you are going for the usual Cantonese dishes then the experience might be tad bit better.
S. L.
Purchased two meals from this restaurant. My partners noodles were good. My special fried rice was passable it was very dark with loads of either soya or brown food colouring. This I believed was to cover up the fact that there was barely any meat in the rice. I only ordered from here because Yans Kitchen was closed. I will not be buying from here again
J. M.
This is a regional cuisine Chinese restaurant, as such I wouldn't bother ordering standard takeaway items. Be brave and try the Sichuan items, it's a whole new experience.
The only thing they could improve on is the decor and ambience. Otherwise the food speaks for themselves.
A. A.
This is an outstanding restaurant, though small but very clean environment and the meal is very tasty and reasonably priced with good and cautious staff.
C. S.
Wonderful food nice and relaxing staff very helpful going back again for my sons birthday 5 star rating.
S. T.
Only had take out, friendly, very fast and yum yum good...highly recommended
A. A.
My friends and I had a great time. The meal, service and cost were all good. Will visit again.
H. H.
This is the best Chinese restaurant in London.
Cheap value and friendly service, have eaten too many times。👍👍👍
T. M.
Generally our experience of the food from this restaurant is excellent though on our most recent visit, Chicken balls were oily and appeared to be double fried. Going to that that as a one off as usually very good.
Recommended and will be back again

I have been here twice. Staff are friendly and taste are good also. I love chow mien here.
D. B.
Very enjoyable dine-in experience. Food was hot, fresh and delicious and good portion sizes for the price. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return!
S. J.
Simple basic layout with reasonably cheap prices. The food is OK. If you want a classic Chinese meal with a drink for just over a tenner then this does the job.
S. B.
Me and my Mrs go here for a meal after every West Ham game we go to, absolutely lovely food and service
A. P.
really great and fresh food and the service is excellent and professional
R. T.
Ordered takeaway food was quite good plenty of customers eating in would revisit 8/10
S. A.
The food is really nice however the customer service is terrible, the manager guy will keep coming next to your table and looking at your food again and again. Its wierd. I go there because the food is unbeatable I just wish they had better trained staff.
L. P.
Food was good and the lady who served us was so lovely 😍 wish to go back again 👍
N.
Very surprised by the reviews, especially the people saying that the waiters are racist. I am Polish and have been going there with my partner for 3 and a half years. The service is amazing and the people are really lovely. The food is one of a kind especially with the cheap prices. This is my go to place for any occasion. There is no other Chinese place like this one in London.
N. B.
Lovely food. Friendly staff
S. B.
One of the best Chinese restaurants in London. Great food and staff (that's ONLY when sitting in).
BUT....the take away food is absolutely revolting! I don't know what they use for "chicken", but it's not fresh chicken, that's for sure. It's that goey rubbish that cheap places use. I have NO idea why they have 2 different standards for eat-in and take-away. They should have more respect for their customers. The first and last take-away I got there was curry chicken, there was NO curry sauce and instead was just clear oil/liquid. Revolting! I threw it in the rubbish and demanded my money back.

Always pop in here at lunchtime if I'm in Stratford before 1.30. A good quality no frills Chinese just outside the Broadway busy area. Does a special set lunch for £7 - £7.50. Does a reasonably priced evening meal which I've yet to try. Reminds me of what Chinese restaurants were like in the 70's and that's a big compliment.
Surprisingly, serves brown rice which is much preferred.
M. H.
Ok food. Not sure if there is a true vegan option beyond boiled rice. Reasonably clean, though the toilet was a little unpleasant. Prices are not all high. Accepted card payment with no fuss.

Take-away was ok - not the best - was disappointed because I do recall having a meal there some years ago and was overwhelmed by the quality of the food I ordered. I highly recommended this restaurant to a friend who was not over impressed. Staff were reasonably polite and the layout of the restaurant is simple and welcoming.

We visited this restaurant last night and were saddened that the previous owner Lee has now retired. This could only have happened very recently, because we were there only 5 weeks ago and there was no indication then that Lee was leaving. We were pleased to see that Ivy, the lovely longstanding waitress is still there. The new owner was sitting in the restaurant, so we were introduced. He seemed ok. Unfortunately, there has been a bit of a price hike and our bill had gone up by £6.00! We feel disappointed that the new owner has done this so quickly, but has not improved the look of the place. It is still very much a cafeteria style, so the place needs to match the prices. The toilets are cold and not very nice and the place needs to be improved a lot. The food is good, but the house wine is overpriced at £15.00 a bottle.
J. l.
All good .staff polite and all wearing masks
J. M.
I've only ever had a takeaway but this is the 3rd or 4th time and I must say it is probably the best old style Chinese I've had for a long time. We stick to basics such as ribs, special rice, Singapore rice and Singapore noodles, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong, beef in black bean, but this time we had the Peking duck and pancakes which I usually avoided as don't think it travels well. It was excellent. Portions are sizeable and prices pretty decent.

We always order from her is we are craving for authentic Chinese food. It's 3mjn from our place so we are guaranteed we will get hot food. Portions are good. £11 minimum for delivery. The menu is well split between seafood and protein. The box meal is also a good option. Frequent eater at this place and recommend people to try if missing Chinese palate....
D. C. S.
Overall the food was very nice but we had this problem at the restaurant : Initially they gave us some soft noodle with chicken that was tasting like burn but luckily they change it after a complaint.
we asked for a dessert, i took a Ferrero Rocher ice cream and they gave me a Cadburry ice cream, i complained again about it and they change it with the right one that unfortunately was looking old and completely frozen since i don't know how years.

I don't often like eating takeaway Chinese food but for some reason I like this one. The food here is probably the best Chinese takeaway food along the Stratford High Street. Most others don't look very hygienic. I like their egg fried rice with black bean sauce, though I feel they have too many options on their menu which makes it confusing and often puts me off ordering when I go there. Sometimes a simple menu is best. Though it is predominantly a takeaway restaurant, you can also sit down in there to eat, they offer a table service.
T. B.
Not the best Chinese restaurants in the area. Found the rice to be too dry and the spicy food not hot enough despite requesting it to be extra hot.
M. A.
The Chinese Overseas Resturant is the best place to eat or order to takeaway. The staffs are very friendly, professional and helpful. Their food is amazing 😉. Just I want to say in quality and quantity you can trust . Highly recommended to you .
D. L.
Lovely place I found near westfield shopping center in stratford e15 this is a great place which I didn’t know before existed. I enjoyed a great time there with my friends from university with delicious food. We highly recommend.
J. M.
Great service and friendly staff especially the woman who always have a warm welcome and smile. Never disappointed for their food and that always a home taste by the way. 😋
The price is worth it for their taste and suitable for groups.
S. B.
I've driven past this restaurant a number of times, but happenstance took me past here looking for a place to eat one Sunday afternoon.
I was extremely delighted at not only the reasonable of the set menu, but the sheer size of the portions! The food was authentic and quickly delivered (and devoured!) Will definitely be returning!
F. W.
Service is amazing. Staff are kind and the food is great.
a. m.
Chinese takeaway and restaurant, to be found on the Broadway at Stratford, it is lively busy place for both dinners and takeaway customers alike, the restaurant also has a delivery service. Mainly Chinese cuisine with a mix of Asian too. The staff are very helpful, pleasant, and friendly, it is not very wheelchair friendly, with the toilets being at the top of a flight of stairs.
R. G.
Was so amazed by the quality of the food in comparison to the price. The food is so authentic if you know what you're ordering that is. They don't even charge service fee unlike all the ones in Leicester square. Highly recommend this place!
L. H.
WENT on a sunday lunch time. to be fair it was early 12. noon - however although the place was clean and tidy it was freezing. ordered and it was a good 20 minutes before anything arrived. ordered soup which came before the prawn chow mein and pancake roll.
have been going here for years when lee ran it. now to food
wonton soup - the wontons were good with a good meat flavour but the broth lack a deep flavour which you usually get.
prawn chow mein - good and the prawns tasted fresh - decent size portion.
pancake roll - one of the best i have eaten and i have eaten thousands.
good equal selection of crispy veg inside including mushrooms and equal amounts of pork - chicken - prawns. flavour very good and no grease.
i think the chefs are capable of good food but the place needs to be heated especially in feb 2017. all in all good food at a good price.

So good that I came back the next night. Very ethnic Chinese so you can expect a great meal. Live dangerously and ask what the Chinese families are eating for a really exciting experience. Forget sweet & sour. I had salt chilly crab mmmmmmh. Yummy.
D. L. S.
Once again a chinese restaurant which is rather a delivery service than a real restaurant, you wouldn't want to spend the evening there. But the take away is tasteful, of normal quality, the price is a accordingly and there is nothing one can complain about. YACTA (Yet Another Chinese Take Away)
V. E.
First time having take away from this place today, but defo not the last!
Great price and really good food. Best chineese in east london so far!
Waiting time was quite long, but it was worth it!
V. R.
I love this place. You can try really authentic Chinese food. It's the best in Stratford 😋🦐
T. L.
Good quality food. Terrible at special requests. I.e no vegetables. Multiple times I've had to return the food because they've got it wrong or gave me pork instead of beef
C. B.
Clean, staff helpfull, food best I've had in a local Chinese restaurant for years. Definitely be making it a regular and very reasonably priced.
M. D.
Authentic food. Massive portions. I love the Beef & Noodle soup. Beware its a large bowl and a full hearty dinner for one.
C. G.
Lovely have used this restaurant on and off for years. Still good even with new owners and reasonably priced.
a. d.
The food is good. Hard to find good Chinese food in London. Normally order take away, and they've never failed to disappoint me
H. B. (.
A good selection of tasty Chinese favourites as well as a selection of real authentic Chinese food. The prices are very reasonable. One of our local favourite places to eat.
E. S.
Absolutely reccomended! The ingredients are very tasty and fresh, I had vegetables chow main, it was delicious! Its not the cheapest place, but surerly will order again!
K. K.
Loved it, food was great, vast menu, really cheap also. Would recommend...
Nice place to eat in with your asian girl.
A. S.
Its ok for the price you can't expect the best Chinese food ever. No major complaints on its quality. Good location not too far from Westfield Stratford.
S. R.
Decent 2 course set lunch for £9. Surly staff but that's not uncommon in central London Chinese restaurants, in my experience.
R.
Good choice of food, good friendly service, reasonable prices, basic but clean restaurant area, busy with takeaway orders, popular with local chinese community.
P. “. P. R.
Smells amazing when you walk in then the food takes next to no time to arrive to your table. Service is good
L. H.
Ordered through deliveroo. Really tasty Chinese, came hot, will be ordering again
G. S.
Nice small restaurant, good food and drinks for litle money
j.
this restaurant has extraordinary food which is a delicacy. Although they told me they will deliver to me at 60 min, they normally deliver quicker.😀😀
Q. Z.
Lovely chinese food and family friendly. Kids love the tofu soup.
J. G.
The food is delicious especially the chow mein...I love this place...great staff and menu choices...I recommend this place to all Chinese food lovers
D. C.
Not the best I'm afraid, had chicken balls and rice, 10 quid, balls were alright, sweet and sour sauce was not edible as was really salty
I. W.
Food was great and a good price. Wine was overpriced and almost none of what was on the list. Service was good.

Servers cater to whatever is ordered.
Quality is good ( not the best but good)
You need to tell them not to use the carcinogenic substantial MSG in Chinese food like most restaurants do ( wonder why the government does not ban it's use in the UK) - and they do whatever you want, other Chinese restaurants use the dangerous chemical substance MSG and even if requested do not adhere to your request.
People should petition the government to stop the import or manufacture of the cancer causing substance MSG , maybe that's the reason so many people are dying of cancer as even in non Chinese food this dangerous chemical is being used.
