Reviews of Chokhi Dhani

My first visit to Choki Dhani. What an amazing ambiance. Service is great. Love everything they setup to create this place super but
Unfortunately quality of food was below average. Don’t know why they create spectacular image. I have tried many places for Indian food but this one wasn’t near to them.

Visited this place for lunch. Good ambience right from the imposing elephant 🐘 at the front, carrying thru into the rest of the restaurant. Service was very warm and welcoming. In fact I was very pleasantly happy as the waiters including the manager make you feel welcome and have no airs unlike some high end restaurants.
Ordered some cocktails as they have a decent selection of unusual cocktails. We tried the Spice Jungle, Jaipur Fizz, White Elephant and Wild Storm. All really good, and would recommend them.
While we waited for the mains, the unique feature of this restaurant came to the fore. They had a collection of traditional Indian articles and jewellery which not only made for a nice display, but you could also buy them. This definitely got our table and some of the other customers excited and engaged. A truly fantastic concept, often popular with Rajasthani themed restaurant villages in India.
Choice of mains was made simple as they have a thali, an assortment of veg dishes - the Maharani thali or and assortment with meat dishes included - the Maharaja thali. Both were excellent. The staff very attentive, asking if we needed any second helpings for any of the dishes in the thali. The Lal Maas was the best, as was the Dal bati. We also ordered a lamb biryani which was very yummy, but made in a Rajasthani style. I would have preferred a different sweet dish in the thali though.
The manager was very courteous and took the time to come to the table to chat with us about the restaurant and it's concept, giving us an honestly refreshing perspective. I truly admire his dedication to his job and customers
Overall a great time, with decent food, good cocktails and superior ambience, concept and service.

We are glad we spotted this place as we were walking by... We ordered biryani, the Maharaja thali it was awesome ...the ambiance, the service, the food, the staff, the interiors is simply awesome and I can go on ... The staff by name Aliston was very nice, helpful and he was the one who suggested us to try few dishes like prawn balchao, the sweet dish ... also explained us the Rajasthani authentic dishes ... The golden jungle is a must try cocktail ...I bet you won't regret it ... A place you can be with your friends, family. Do visit this place

Loved the experience. The ambience and service was really good and unexpected. We ordered maharaja and maharani Thali along with the starters and the highlights were : Laal Maas, samosa chat, saag and kadhi pakora. The taste was authentic. Rajeev (staff member) was so kind that as a surprise he brought some little brownies and candle for our 2nd anniversary. Having good food is another thing but when you get that kind of service it really makes your day. Recommended !

This was the first visit to Chokhi Dhani, after checking amazing reviews. The ambience & staff is really nice. However, the food is below average, it lacks authentic rajasthani taste specifically the thali and the dal kachori. The plates looked really tempting with good presentation but the taste didn’t meet expectations. (The third star is for the staff & the ambience)

Great food and décor.
We averaged per head £41 which was very reasonably priced compared to the other west end Indian restaurants which we paid more than double per head for.
Food portions were good and plated well.
Service was prompt and good, only criticism is service staff could have spent a little more time explaining the dishes when ordering and delivering them to the table, this was done however felt it was a little rushed but maybe I'm just being picky.
Great décor really authentic, looks like they have taken a lot of time and effort to make it unique.
Parking was made easy by looking at the video provided as its a little complicated without, this was also free which was great, overall the entire evening was well worth the journey south of the river

This was our first visit to Chokhi Dhani. We ordered almost all of the vegetarian dishes from their menu between 9 of us.
Decor and ambience of the restaurant is great. Some of the food items were very good as well. However some of the authentic Rajasthani dishes lacked flavour.
Maharani thali has everything if you are looking to taste different vegetables and curries .
Sarson ka saag , missi roti, bajre ki roti were one of the best on the menu.
Dal kachori and moong dal pakodi were undercooked and had no flavour.
Food is bit on a pricy side but overall good experience.
I will recommend this place.
P. N.
Ordered the non veg Thali...loved the daal bati churma, laal maaas but that's it .the rest dishes were just ok.Thali was missing a sweet dish.ambience is nice, staff is good but won't go again for Thali..perhaps for other items in menu.

Got to know about this place through a friend. Visited the place to celebrate both wife snd daughter’s birthday. Great ambience and delicious food. We had the Maharaja thali which was very tasty and too filling. They also serve some very unique cocktails (Golden Jungle is a must try). The complimentary brownies and birthday candle was a very nice gesture. Slightly on the expensive side but worth the visit.

It was a very pleasant visit to chokhi Dhani, I must say the food was so on point and the service was so great, the manager Rajiv was so nice and kind and had accommodated us according to our requirements, it was hubbies birthday, so I did make reservation and they completely lived up above and beyond my expectations. The interior and the decor is just something else .. before you walk into the resturant there's a massive elephant such a beautiful piece of art which makes you feel that you are not in London but in rajasthan .. except the weather, there's parking under ground and all you have to do is follow their instructions which is on their website.
We had plenty of starters and a veg thali and we was not disappointed, the taste texture and presentation was on point, its on the pricey side but its well worth a visit. It also has jewelleries displayed as part of decor and purchase and they are all hand crafted and so well displayed. My hubby was gifted a beautiful handmade book which he can write on and I felt it was so nice of Rajiv to gift this, he is such a asset to the company, keep up the great work and thank you ever so much for such a beautiful evening. Glad we picked this place! We sure will be visiting again.

We came here to celebrate Diwali with friends, the evening was spectacular. We had 4 thalis that were simply delicious, the ambience was beautiful and the large tables made us feel comfortable while we were there

Great place for authentic North Indian / Rajasthani food. Amazing ambience and excellent hospitality by Rajiv.
Strongly recommended.

Found this place just walking past and being drawn in by the lovely smells. It did not disappoint! Our new favourite thali place. Ticks all the boxes: ambience, service, value, but mostly, fabulous flavourful food.
T. C.
I am glad that i found this place. Completely fulfilled my thirst of food from home. We ordered the Maharaja Thali and i finished that before dropping a breath. Best was Kadhi and Gatte out of the whole lot. The manager was friendly and welcoming. However i feel their prices are overrated. So it will make me think before visiting Chokhi Dhani frequently.
K. J.
Great food and great decor. Friendly staff.
We ordered starters and then thalis - don't do that! Thalis are huge, can be replenished if you want, and contain a good variety of items. So, if you plan to order a thali skip the starters to really enjoy the thali.
There wasn't any dish that was disappointing. Cocktails were 'tasty' but I guess were mostly non-alcoholic juices as is the case at most of such places.

Went for my friend's birthday dinner. Lovely ambience and great selection of Rajasthani cuisine, loved the dal bati churma, we were a group of 8 people including 1 toddler and a 10 day old baby girl and the staff went all out to take care of our comfort. Loved our visit and would recommend it to friends and family.

Amazing experience!! Thank you Rajiv and all his staff for making our special day more special and memorable by delivering the best service. Really enjoyed the variety of Rajasthani cuisines there. It's hard to find the taste of India in London and we were having such a traditional dining experience right upon Thames River!! Interior, atmosphere, Food, staff &service everything is spot on!!
S. L.
This is a heaven for Indians! The food was perfect, the décor of the restaurant was wonderful. Made me really miss home, but it felt like I'm home at the same time. Was beautiful. Loved it!
D. N. K.
Ambience is good, but a restaurant is a place to eat and food quality, taste and service determines the efficiency. Food was just average. Not very good. I have lived in Jodhpur and had real authentic Rajasthani food, this is not even close.

Even before you take your seat, whether that be outside on the terrace overlooking a gorgeous view of the River Thames or indoors, fine dining restaurant Chokhi Dhani is certain to impress with its sheer size, grandeur and style.
The Indian cuisine is refined, the atmosphere warm, the surroundings opulent, and the service impeccable.
Whether you're after a quick snack courtesy of their thoughtfully conceived and executed Street Food menu, or something more substantial, there's enough here to impress almost all diners and taste buds.
And, of course, how many restaurants do you know of that have gone out of their way to source Halal rabbit?
Chokhi Dhani is in the middle of also creating a portable menu for home delivery, so keep a look out for that.
Menu Recommendation
Drinks - Bagicha
Starter - Murgh Joshila
Main - Telangana Chappa Koora
Dessert - Rose Crème Brûlée
HALAL STATUS: Halal chicken, lamb & rabbit (prepped & cooked separately) • Alcohol served

Its a nice place for some fine dine experience of rajasthani cuisine. The have an extensive a la carte menu for both food and drinks, but I would specifically recommend the Maharani and Maharaja thali for veg and non-veg respectively. It's a collection of most of the things on the menu and can be quite filling. If you are one with large appetite, order a snack/starter from the menu as none of those items are a part of thali. The place is a little expensive, so I guess would be a good pick for special occasions which you might choose to celebrate with a glimpse of Indian royalty.

Beautiful new restaurant with excellent food and cocktails. I’ve had two dinners here since it opened, and found the food both elegant and satisfying. The cocktails are fantastic too—so many great flavors! And they really went all out on the interior design; I particularly like the spacious downstairs lounge. Super friendly service also. Such a great addition to the area!

Amazing place if you want to have authentic Rajasthani food. The place was great and the ambience was beautiful. We went for a date night and was very romantic. You can sit near the windows and get a nice view of the river. We ordered our cultural dish called as “ Dal Batti” . It’s a vegetarian dish filled with flavors. If you are going to this place, you should try this dish whatsoever. The food was good and tasty in all but I think it was a bit pricey. Since I have not seen any other Rajasthani cuisine restaurants, I guess it’s given in terms of the price. The staff and the service was good.
Recommend everyone to visit this place and even we will be going again soon.

Amazing food!! If you like Rajisthani Indian food you should definitely visit this place!!

The whole experience was just fantastic!!! I was really enjoyed the food and the service is really good, very helping and friendly staff. I went with my husband and we had several food including meat and vegetarian and each dish was just delicious! We also had desert which was mouth watering. Completely fresh food and everything cooked with very less oil which I liked the most. I have tried so many Indian restaurant here but this is THE BEST. You will never say that Indian food is oily after having meal here. Delicious and Healthy at same time. Bingo!!
I definitely give this a five star rating based on my experience. I recommend to try this once, you'll never stop yourself to try this again. I am going soon here with my friends.

Chokhi Dhani is a new quirky kid around town, by the waterfront in vauxhall, and still secluded from the madness of the city. The food is generally quite good, my favourites were Biryani, Sliders and Seekh Kebab. Sadly, thought Murgh Makhan was a bit sweet for my liking and Amritsari Fish could have used more salt..The drinks are absolutely smashing. I had the Blueberry Muffin, which was a hug in a cup! The service was amazing! Ambience is great and you can purchase one of their decoration pieces too! I bought the leather bound notebook with lock & key ... I'd definitely go back, but this time for the dinner menu!

Absolutely Fantastic place overall! Will highly recommend who like Rajasthani food.
Starting with ambience and decors, they reflect authenticity and culture. Welcoming and very clean!
The location is pretty good but getting to the place from outside london, if you are planning to take the tube is bit tricky, but not a biggy!
Food was amazing, lots of vegetarians options. Perhaps slightly overpriced but considering the location, the refill option and quality of food i think prices can certainly be overlooked. We tried some starters and Thali, i cannot fault anything. If i have to make some minor suggestions, the Ker and sangri were missing on the plate (this was mentioned in the menu), this was replaced by Sarson ka saag which was amazing. The block of paneer tikka could be smaller, more marinated (it was very dry and bland) and probably adding a mint chutney would be icing on cake, otherwise the Bati and Gatte ki subzi was perfect.
The staff was brilliant, welcoming and very professional.

This Indian is from Rajasthan (think Jaipur, palaces, desert!) For a South Indian like me, food was good and for my british-acclimatised palate, Chokhi Dhani food felt authentic. Enjoyed the vegetarian Thali (tapas). Paneer was exquisite. Couldn't resist stealing from wife's non veg Thali and I should say Lal Mas (curried lamb) and chicken fry was super. Enjoyed the cocktail 🍹 too. Can recommend the Marwar cocktail Gin based. Didn't have space for desserts but I am told it's a must, so plan ahead and pace it well. It's a marathon not a sprint.
B. G.
Great food. Lal Maas here is the highlight (as a famous Rajasthani cuisine) but will look a bit overrated if you are familiar with normal Indian mutton curry. Same for jodhpuri murg. Chicken curry it is. Staff was friendly and very strictly following Covid regulations. The restaurant is located by the river, and is an easy and beautiful walk to vauxhall station through the Riverside.

You enter choki dhani for its aesthetic décor, you leave it with lip smacking authentic flavours.
The maharani(vegetarian) Thali deserves all the praises one can give. It's impressive how they nail each and every dish on the Thali. I only visit choki dhani for its Thali. Highly recommended

People looking for good authentic Indian food n flavors - here’s your go to place! Go for the food, the service, the ambience and the on top add on of Indian/Bollywood music. That really makes it special to set the mood. The thali is a must try.
A. U.
We went on my birthday. It was special day for me. As according to my expectation it was not. We order the starter which has chickpeas in every item plus it was very less in quantity. Although it has good taste.
We had good dinner which is okey with quality and quantity. But place is very good to take pictures and shisha as well.
Although thanks to chokhi Dhani to make my day memorable.
A. R.
The service was quick and efficient. We had their speciality - the Thali, which was excellent. Unless you're ravenous, I think it's large enough for 2 ppl to split. Appreciate that at billing they offered an ongoing promotion without me having to ask for it.
S. I.
High end Indian cuisine. I think the surroundings / real estate dictates the price rather than the chefs special or quality of dishes on offer.
Overpriced Shisha at £40+
P. S.
Been living in the area for 6y and now I just think why I haven't tried it before. Place is amazing, staff super welcoming and helpful. A BIG thanks to Rajeev, for making us feel very welcome there. We can't recommend this place enough. *****

I came to this beautiful restaurant with a friend on a Saturday evening. Loved the tastefully done decor. We had the Maharaja and Maharani thali. Good flavours, felt very authentic. The thali's portion size is huge, yet it's made bottomless! The food was matched if not beaten by the service. Observant, polite, truly caring service staff - reminded me of my 5 star dining experiences in India.
Prices are not exactly cheap, but the value provided justifies it. I will definitely return! Well done team :)
P. G.
We had maharaja and maharani thalis
I would say the good points first it was tasty.it was filling .
The things I didnt like was the slow service of the restaurant. We asked for tea afterwards and it was served cold. Thali price was a little more. We ended up paying 230 pounds for a meal for 4 people with one drink each. It's over priced and in this much money we could have gone to any other fine dining .
A. M.
Amazing authentic Rajasthani thali. Veg n non both good. Good masala chai as well. Would have really guven 5 star except for the service which was not up to the mark. Rest ambience, decor, food, location, drinks are excellent
L. B.
As a Rajasthani, I am honoured to write the review on this newly opened restaurant which is part of chain Chokhi Dhani, however quite premium and fine dine restaurant compare to India.Expect £40 pp. Portion sizes are smaller than anticipated. No Thali in afternoon but they are working on it. I ordered crispy MOMO chat which is quite similar to tokri chat except one MOMO on top. Laal Maans did its magic on taste buds so overall happy with quality and taste of food. The ambiance on first floor is much better than ground floor. Service was excellent.
s. m.
It is the best authentic traditional Rajasthani food , if you're real foody please be here , the atmosphere is amazing , staff was so good, will definitely recommend to anyone .
S. A.
The place is a real taste of India in Nine Elms. The good is refined and delicious and the atmosphere is stunning. We went Friday and the restaurants was full but the service was still very good. There is also a display of indian jewellery you can buy! Amazing! We will definitely go back.
I. B.
First time visited in London as previously visited same name in Jaipur India many yrs ago and stayed there.
Authentic Rajasthani dishes. Place very clean. Good decor. Food tasty. Bit pricy
R. L.
Used to live in embassy and this Indian restaurant was my favourite despite the ratings I believe food quality was good and the staff are very polite/friendly, take care guys! And hopefully I’ll visit you again soon.
T. M.
Fantastic service, amazing food and super friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended as this is my favourite Indian restaurant in London. Thanks guys
B. N. S.
Absolutely delicious food. We had the Thali and the variety of dishes in it were lovely. The restaurant is following all govt guidelines regarding distancing.
R. G.
Aesthetics are wonderfully woven together. Food is good too but the price leaves you with a slightly bitter after taste. I'd requested the manager/reservation specialist to send over a little 'welcome back, (special occasion)' treat to the table, but it was forgotten and not only that but over the course of my time spent there I had to remind them multiple times to bring that over to out table. There's a lot of service refinement and service innovation required here. Not sure I can ascribe these to teething issues if you've been in operation for over 15 months. Not just the price but service needs to be tempered and brought to pace parity for it all to seem congruent.
J. M.
Authentic Rajasthani food at its finest. Leave your mundane korma or tikka masala orders at home and immerse yourself in one of their complete thalis.
G. H.
Exceptional service and a unique layout made lunch here a very pleasurable experience.
The staff were attentive, polite and pleasingly chatty - always nice to have a brief conversation!
The presentation of the food was wonderful - as well as the taste. Recommend this place without hesitation.

Chokhi Dhani is a great addition to the Nine Elms area. The food was delicious and service was outstanding. I can't wait for the street food section to open (on the ground floor) to see what they will offer.
We went during the 'soft' opening and in comparison to others; they were already up and running with the timing of the food and training of the staff.
S. S.
We shared the business lunch (£12 each) with seekh kebabs, fish, daal, roti, and sabji. We also had the kulfi (supplement) with mango jelly and mango caviar with crumb. Food was exceptional for the price, view (of Riverside quay) and location. A la carte value remains to be seen.
A. I.
Wonderful place to go to.. Very royal and you feel quite nice to be in that place. The food is authentic Rajasthani food and gives a great insight into the culture. Overlooking the river, wonderful location.
J. F.
I had a wonderful evening with my partner tonight.
Being just down the road this is our ‘local’ and despite the changes we both had a fabulous evening.
The reduced menu is just a matter of life, but you aren't spoilt for choice and we took time to eventually decide on a Thali and Lamb Biryani with breads.
The service was swift, both drinks and food arrived quickly and service was COVID safe and well executed with all the staff being great and showed they truly cared about our safety.
The COVID precautions are spot on, including details, temperature checks and spacoing, and whilst obvious that gives you a sense of safety even if they don't just blend into the ‘traditional’ theme, but we both felt that gave a real sense that this has been thought through with the same care as the original thought into the place. It shows the great team here has really everything in hand and it had really been thought through.
Just one example of this is paper menus that you ''tick' and then they are disposed through recycling. It isn't some fancy app but that adds to the enjoyment as you can have a shared menu experience with your partner debating what you will have though the extensive drinks menu and (whilst reduced) still great food menu.
You must be commended, and feel free to publish my comments as you really deserve to succeed because the thought and care you have taken over the creation of such a wonderful place we enjoyed before COVID-19 has shone through and makes it once again our ‘go to’ place for evening, both as a lovely treat with friends but also just our local place to pop into during the week.
Totally and utterly recommended. If there was 6* this place, in a COVID-19 world, deserves it!
P. J.
Beautiful dining experience. My husband and I ordered their thali which has an amazing array of curries to wake your tastebuds. Love it!
M. G.
I think one of the very few places in London which serve Rajasthani food. The food quality and service has been consistently of outstanding quality. I highly recommend trying the thali, which has all major dishes from Rajasthani cuisine. One thali is generally sufficient for 2 people. My husband and I just order more naan separately to finish off the thali. Would also recommend having lamb (laal Maas). Starters, however, are bit pricey and have quite small portion size.
S. S.
Really freshly crushed spice you can smell. Best authintic Indian food out of India. Thoroughly recommended but book first.
h. p.
One of the best restaurant. Thank you for great service. Highly recommended.
S. P.
Really lovely restaurant. Great and unusual mix of comfortable and calm lounging areas and a fine dining restaurant.
Andreas served us and he was extremely helpful, warm and charming.
The food is wonderful. Between us we didn’t taste a dish that failed to make us say wow. Even full I forced myself into dessert and wasn’t disappointed.
For unexpected extras, they have the most charming entertainment I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant setting. They had a magician called Magic Junior, who left us completely baffled by how he did his tricks, was also great company. Also a complimentary henna artist who has some beautifully delicate designs. On other nights they also have a tarot reader.
On top of it all, you’re by the river, with comfortable outside seating away from the main road, and the pricing is very reasonable.
Everything is well judged. Worth travelling through London for.

This was THE BEST South Asian restaurant I've ever been to in London so far. The environment is amazing (feels like stepping into a jewelry store!), the waiter seeing us was super nice and warm, and the food.. it was SO GOOD!! My partner and I had the butter chicken (murgh mak'han), this fantastic lamb dish (mohan maas), some creamy dal, and paratha bread. The dal was not as good as the other dishes (lacking some flavour) so I won't be ordering it again, but everything else was amazing. I am coming back!!
P. B.
My wife comes here quite often the food is untouchable, the chef Mr Henasha always looks after us with extra spicy food! We are always eager to come back dine here,
From myself and all the residents in embassy, thank you!
J. T.
We went there with a couple of families for a get together thali lunch. The ambiance is good, service is courteous. The food quality and taste was hit and miss so the cost was not justified.
j. m.
Went there recently. The service and the decor of the restaurant is excellent without any doubt. The starters and drinks were nice too. But a bit disappointed with thali. The curries were a bit bland and lacked flavour.
P. M.
Food tastes good if you are looking for authenticity but the portions are every small. We ordered a Thali and it was not very filling for the price.
A. M.
Keeping the Indian Tradition alive in London. Nice place and a Very courteous staff. Great food. Superb.
J. A.
It’s sad because this place is great but they’ve priced themselves out of the market, practically empty every night in a great location because their food is so expensive. I wish they’d drop their prices slightly and create a good atmosphere by not having a empty restaurant.
R. S.
Good place but still not on par with the chain in India. Lots can be improved. The foremost starting with menu they should include the sweet and buttermilk as part of their thali ( You can't have a Rajasthani thali without those two)
D. N.
The area is nice. The food just about okay - not quite for the price though. The chairs could be more comfortable.
C. B.
A treat of a restaurant. A high quality venue in the heart of the Nine Elms district in London. We hadn't booked but we're welcomed and shown to an ideal table upstairs but all the time offered others tables if we wished.
Having been seated we were shown the menu and offered advice by a very professional but friendly waiter. Together we chose Punjabi Karachi Murgh, lamb Laal Maas, pilau rice, matcha green tea paratha, along with poppadoms and chutneys. The lamb and the paratha were winners. I rate these among the best foods I have ever had. We chose the house white.
For dessert we chose the chocolate sphere. Another outstanding dish of pistachio, mild coffee ice cream in a white chocolate bombe.
The price including coffee and service came to £97
I. R. C.
Amazing service and classic indian flavors

Beautifully decorated restaurant with gorgeous Rajasthani food on the banks of the river. The service was excellent, the staff were exceptionally friendly and the food came out very quickly. Shall be recommending this to my friends and family - I'll definitely be back!

Heard about this place from our Airbnb hostess so I tried it out. Had a yummy 'Thali' meal with many different varieties of curries. Everything tasted very good and the service was excellent too!

Lovely place, so delicious food and friendly staff. I really recommend to try the Dal Bati Churma 😊

Amazing food and awesome taste . First time rajasthani food experience 👍
T. B.
Food good but overpriced. Not busy last night when we dined but service a bit patchy. Had to ask for ice and lemon in G and T, water wasn't topped up regularly. Only hot drink available at meal end was matcha tea as nothing else available. They did provide birthday 'petit fours' at the end which was nice.

We visited this restaurant for lunch on a weekend. The experience is a mixed one!
The restaurant is superb on the below parameter:
- Ambience is great
- Staff is attentive and make you feel comfortable.
- Some of the dishes served in the veg & non veg thali are good and offer you an authentic Rajasthani flavour.
Where our experience missed the mark is as below:
- limited non veg options in the Thali.
- costing of the Thali doesn’t really do justice as there
many Indian restaurants providing a much better
experience at similar pricing!
- No sweet dish in Thali - I was really expecting a nice
flavourful sweet dish to be complete the Rajasthani
food experience. But was disappointed as it did not
offer any.
Would I go here again - Yes “BUT” not for the Thali!
A. G.
Superb location just by the river and a lovely walk from Vauxhall station. The ambience and decor are exceptional and service was exemplary. Special mention for the girl who served us, she was knowledgeable and gave us good advice on what to order. We ordered 2 Thalis, and we were hoping for a flavour extravaganza but we were let down a little. While the food is decent, it is nowhere close to the original chokhi dhani.
B.
We decided to go somewhere different and thought the restaurant looked visually really beautiful. Amazing decor. From parking your car in Riverlight Quay and the short walk to the restaurant, it was really pleasant. My wife enjoyed her meal, dal bati , which she thought was authentic rajestani but the other chicken dishes were a bit disappointing. Found the 'butter chicken' dish very dry. My wife did remind me 'it's not punjabi food' so bear this in mind. If you're expecting a normal chicken curry type dish then you will be very disappointed! Others maybe will like this type of fancy restaurant, but we unfortunately did not.
P. A.
This might be an unfair review, because I have had authentic marwari food, belonging to that community.
The food is decent, but lacks the true punch of flavours that Rajasthani cuisine usually has. I guess this is done to cater to a more western clientele.
Nothing we ordered was bad or had anything to complain about... But for someone like me craving the punchy fiesty Ker sangri , it was a bit of a let down. An expensive meal for average fare .

My favourite restaurant, amazing regal decor and the food was beautiful. Will definitely visit again.

Great food and service. Shared most of the vegan options on the menu - very tasty!
(Photo of the vegan samosas)

Superb decor, excellent food and attentive service. Bit on the expensive side.
N. K.
Great ambience. Good cocktails. Average and definitely not authentic Rajasthani food.
B. G.
They got really good rajasthani decor. And the food was so good, me and my husband had there thali i had veg and my husband had non-veg both were really tasty . Really good place to have Birthday dinner or family dinner. Their service was also excellent me and my hunband is very pleased. And at the end they gave me birthday gift which is indian earring it was so beautiful. Thanku so much for good service and gift.

Ambiance was very good. Clean and maintain hygiene. We ordered maharani Thali that taste was ok ok and quantity is more than enough. Main course was good but dessert was not good as we thought. Overall it's a good place to visit with family sometimes.
v.
The best of the best. Was surprised it was not more busy. My friends were super impressed by the quality of food, and its a rare place to get rajasthani food. Couldnt recommend it more.
M.
Authentic Indian cuisine without the English influence. Fantastic regional dishes
V. C.
Just opened so not very busy. Parking is a little difficult to find. Great food and attentive service.
J. B.
A very pleasant restaurant and Indian accessory shop. We visited largely to buy desserts and we were disappointed to learn they had none. But we enjoyed a cool glass of Kingfisher beer each anyway. We will visit again when we know the dessert chef is working again. Although if the restaurant was mine, I would buy in top quality desserts until normal service resumed.
T. S.
The whole interior is very nice and Food is yummy too. Food is bit pricy.
A. U.
Had a fantastic time here when we went for my Mrs birthday, our visit was over a year ago but yet here I am writing this review. Me and the wife got talking and we remembered how brilliant the service and food was. The chef even came out to have a nice chat it was really amazing. The tiger prawns and chops are out of this world. We can’t wait to visit again.
S. C.
Food was good - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service was excellent - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Value for money, not worth for a thaali - ⭐️
Ambience - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Chokhi Dhani is a fantastic restaurant that gave me and a friend a lovely birthday dinner. The food was delicious and the service very friendly without being obtrusive (a real art). It was not cheap but worth every penny. There was live Indian music which made a very pleasant change from the piped music that you usually get although sometimes it was a bit loud. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. Book now!
V. M.
Good Rajasthani high end restaurant! Well run by the management. Food could have been more spicy(personal taste) and no reflection on how good the food was otherwise
P. J.
Visited for a business lunch, extremely tasty and well presented food. Excellent service from the manager.
Will visit regularly from now on.
J. S.
Fantastic food and service. Simply faultless.
K. M.
Great food and friendly staff. We have ordered 1 thali and Kadi and gatte were too good in taste. Loved the food. It is little expensive but taste is good.
S. F.
The place has some awesome authentic Rajasthani decor. A must see place for a lovely time with family or friends. The food was spot on and packed with nostalgic flavours. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Have been here a couple of times, and I must say it was a totally pleasurable experience. Being from West London where I'm used to asian mixed grills as a night out, this 'fine dining' was such a refreshing change. This place has 2 floors. The ground floor ambience due to the fantastic traditional (with a twist) decor made it a nice chill out zone to enjoy my cocktail from the bar. A nice lounge area to relax before moving on upstairs for our evening dinner. Once upstairs it was hard to ignore the amazing decor and surroundings. Even once sat down on our table we spent the next few minutes ignoring the menu and taking in the unusually brilliant interior. Anyways, my starter came, tandoori salmon. Beautifully presented, and it tasted divine. I really did think it was a bit of a dainty portion at first but you could instantly taste the high quality ingredients in the dish, and it was surprisingly filling for a starter. After admiring more of the decor, we moved onto mains. I just went for my usual safe option chicken, and it was honestly so delicious. Again the naan seemed smaller than what I'm used to but again it was surprisingly enough. Unlike many Indian restaurants, this place doesn't encourage you to stuff yourself, more appreciate the dish, and you will be satisfied. All in all a great experience, not one I would have on a regular basis due to the fact that I've been here twice now, and the location of the restaurant to where I live....but will probably try to enjoy drinks there, out the back by the river next time, hopefully at some point this summer.
S. H.
Probably my favourite Indian restaurant in London. Chicken biryani is superb. Lal maas and nan excellent. Did not have my favourite starters (lamb chops and momo chaat), but samosa chaat and tikka pretty good. Kiwi Rico and Lal Qila mocktails both refreshing and v tasty.
Pricey, but worth it for superior quality of food and for the lovely riverside setting.
L. M.
Great ambience: good live classical music, good view from above, and friendly customer service. The food had a traditional Rajasthan touch to it. The biryani was more british-indian fusion than traditional Indian., but I quite liked it. The papad ki sabzi was decent, so was the dal makhani. Their starters are tasty, we tried 4 of the veg ones. Lastly, their desserts were really good. I dont recall the name, but the one w loads of different Indian sweets on the plate was truly delicious! A but pricey, but worth it once in a while
S. B.
Where do I start... Parking wasn't very easy to find but restaurant has provided video on parking that very reason.
It's bit expensive for a rajasthani Thali and there isn't much to choose from otherwise. Ambience was great however the air conditioning wasn't working when we visited and it became a very uncomfortable to enjoy the dinner after on a hot summer's evening.
Some of the authentic rajasthani dishes were really really good.
I've mixed feelings about this place but I guess it worth visiting once. Hence 3 stars.
V. D. M.
Delicious feed, clean and customer orientated services.
h. S.
Visited today with the family. Fantastic atmosphere, excellent service. Portions were small. Excellent culinary. Deserts were really lovely and the lamb lass was sumptuous.Only if the portions were a little more would have been perfect for a five star review.

I have been to the restaurant with my family. And the first impression was that the interior is beautiful. The food was very good but not spicy enough for indian food. The dssert was amazing-the miniature of every dessert on the menu- it was delicious.
S. C.
This is by far the nicest Indian restaurant we have ever been 2,the staff were extremely attentive and surprised my husband with a birthday cake and candles. We would highly recommend this place
T.
So month 3 and we're on 'C'!
The free basement parking was a little tricky to find - you need a different postcode - then you need to get out the car, let the concierge know you need to get in, go back to your car and remember where you were told to park! Then walk down the road to the restaurant...which looks really impressive inside and out. We were shown to our seats straightaway and were in awe of the decor and the jewellery that was in the tables, protected by glass.
Drinks all night were rather slow but we were entertained by Majic Junior who was AMAZING! He is a really funny guy with an impressive set of tricks.
The cocktails were some of the best we had tasted and the food was extremely nice. The flavours were great and portions were on point.
The staff are so nice, making recommendations and talking to us every now and then. Really friendly and relaxing atmosphere. There is also an outside terrace but we didn't sit out there.
The prices (and parking) let us down. It is so far the most expensive place we have been to but I guess it is due to location as Nine Elms is undergoing a major transformation. We agreed that we would return here if someone else was paying!! This restaurant ranks #2 in our challenge so far.
R. M.
Elegant, traditionally decorated two-floor restaurant overlooking the Thames, serving authentic home-style dishes focussing on the region of Rajastan. Whilst the downstairs offers a bar and casual dining, the centre piece of the restaurant is the open space upstairs for larger party sizes. From the ornate furnishings to the streams of fairy lights hanging outside the wall-to-ceiling windows, there is an immediate feeling of warmth and comfort as you take your seat. The tables are well spaced out giving an intimate feel albeit still in an open restaurant setting. As far as drinks are concerned, there is an eclectic choice of cocktails and mocktails - all with a sub-continental edge - and the wine list (both new and old world) is very reasonably priced. The a la carte menu is deep, showcasing wonderful variety - staple starters like aloo tikki are nestled with the more menu shy kargosh (slow pulled rabbit). The murgh makhmali kebab is standout in tenderness and grilling perfection. The mains are offered in good portions and both the punjabi karahi murgh and laal maas bring out genuine fire and spice. Alternatively, you can opt for the unlimited thali giving you a small portion taste across the menu - a wise choice if you are struggling to decide! The service is welcoming, attentive and friendly - we visited as a large group for a special occasion and were very well looked after :-) The only drawback is the location - public transport links are not ideal nor close by and the Nine Elms area is yet to create its own identity and vibrancy. However, there is free secure underground parking for visitors of the restaurant which certainly helps. Overall though, fantastic quality at very good value in a relaxed and beautifully designed space!
R. ‘. H.
Fantastic food. One of, if not the best Indian meals I can honest say that I have ever had. Service was fantastic, warm, friendly & very professional. Tiger Prawns a must. All the table dishes were delicious. Congratulations
r. s.
One of the best Indian restaurant in London. Food was excellent, very friendly staff, the best interior decor. 10 out of 10.
s. g.
The decor was outstanding, service was not up to par. They really need to employ better trained staff that have some charisma and care for their customers. They seemed to be robotic- going through the motions. We ordered the Rajasthani maharaja thali and had a certain level of expectation about the authenticity given that this joint is run by the same family that founded the original choukh ki dhani in Jaipur which we have experienced. The waiteress did'nt bother to explain or introduce the various dishes on the plate which was untraditional for the thali experience. The food was at best mediocre for the high price tag. It didn't come with a customary sweet dish like malpua which we received in Jaipur and other Rajasthani thali restaurant in India. Nor did it come with a drink. For two thalis and two lassis and a bottle of water we paid almost a whopping £100 bill. On the plus side, they have made a lot of effort on the decor and glitz factor with live musicians and performers. Alas, more effort on the food would have been be a better idea. As they say all that glitters is not gold... we sadly won't be coming back in a hurry.

I visit Choki Dhani whenever I am in and around the area and recently dined again! Love the restaurant! The food and ambiance gives the feeling that you are sitting at a restaurant in Rajasthan! I have had their Rajasthani thali a couple of times (veg option) and it is an wholesome experience. The taste and spices are authentic and rich. Their dal bati churma is the signature dish and don’t forget to try the gatte ki sabzi. Dal makhani is one of our regular dishes along with the cauliflower starter. A must visit restaurant if you want to experience the traditional rajasthani cuisine!
S. I.
Ambience was very good. Food is average and quantity is less.
A. G.
Great ambience with Rajasthani interior - absolutely loved it. Amazing cocktails (Kaala Saya was my favourite). Authentic taste of Rajasthani food (also serves non-veg). I had the Maharaja thali and there were so many items on the silver plate that you need a very big appetite to finish it all. Great service!! Will recommend and visit again.
A. R.
This newly opened restaurant is truly an asset to Londons fine dining scene. It has been made easy to find, just look for the life size bronze statue of an elephant by the front door! The decor inside is spectacular and makes for a great experience even before the meal. There is a 12 plate tasting dish on the meal which is supposed to be a main course dish but we orders as a starter to share, all 12 dishes were delicious. There are vegetarian options on the menu. Between us we ordered a paneer dish and a lamb. Both dishes were full of great flavours, the lamb was good quality and was cooked perfectly. There are just 3 dessert option on the menu but all 3 option I can personally recommend, my personal favourite is the rose crème brûlée. Service is fantastic. We could not have asked for more.
A. K. (.
What an ambience.. lovely.. elephant and all unique all over UK...
Starter - very nice but quantity was very small.
Main course - No, No, No ... nothing like good food .. palak paneer served a piece of paneer and green chutney around it
Service - .. staff really nice and very well spoken and behaved ..
Suggestion -
.. if you are an indian restaurant then serve like one...
You have not copied anyone for your ambience.. then why for your food ..
Dont try to copy ..
be authentic..
be indian and
be daring ...
A. V.
I've never had Rajasthani food so was looking forward to a new experience. We all ordered the thali (mine was the Maharani vegetarian option, the rest of the table the maharaja meat option). I expected a bit more masala /flavour in each of the dishes--could be due to my inexperience in eating rajasthani cuisine (I normally eat punjabi or South Indian) , but there were a few highlight dishes. There were unlimited refills which was great. The masala Chai we ordered at the end of the meal was a bit disappointing, lacked flavour. Thought the meal overall was a bit expensive for the serving portions and the flavour palette, but very nicely fitted out restaurant with attentive staff.
T. K. D.
Certainly good Indian food. Not quite sure about some of the decoration or the fact they use the restaurant to sell items (loses a bit of class for me) but maybe that’s down to taste. Friendly and quick service. I would eat here again.
A. F.
So good! Customer service was great and the food was magnificent
N. B.
Was on the pricey side, but the the atmosphere was lovely
N. M.
Bit on the pricy side. Magic show was good, my girls loved it!
M. F.
I had to wait 20 mins for a table even though I had booked beforehand.
I was expecting fine dining but saw people turning up in trainers and tracksuits.
The food was very good but the desert was awful. The gulab jamin was cold.
R. D.
Amazing service, enticing ambience, sumptuous food, for the price its value for money. We will be there again - every month.
K. D.
Very nice, professional service, great food. Music not too loud. Comfortable lighting.
G. S.
Wonderful, cheerful, courteous General Manager Mr Rajeev Jha.
Throughly enjoyed the dinner. Authentic Indian feel and excellent decor.
T. H.
Chokhidhani deserves a small round of applause for pulling off very good subcontinent cuisine in the heart of London...especially when it appeals to a South-Asian.
The name #chokhidhani is supposed to be a dead ringer for the small village in Rajasthan and the restaurant is expected to mimic the food belonging to the red-soiled state of India.
My 4 star's reflect excellent customer service, enchanting ambience, outstanding starters, very good mains and a grand finale of very impressive dessert.
Prelude to the starters included a variety of complimentary mini poppadoms. The chutney accompaniments were good fusions and we got a taste of sweet, sour and hot.
Starters
Vegetable samosa chaat: I chose this as a safe starter and although it was very well done, it was a bit more moist than my liking. Yet, the yogurt coating was aesthetically done and once you break into it it's actually quite the treat.
Jumbo Jhinga Balchao: This starter is a no-brainer favourite. When they refer to tiger prawns, they aren't lying. The prawns are grilled to perfection that they require no additional oil. It feels like a cross between some butter and prawn...absolutely mouthwatering.
Mains
Dal 'Kabir Das': This was a slight let down and it could have been a bit creamier.
Murgh Makhan: Similar to butter chicken but I'd say it has more character: if I am honest, a bit too much character as the fenugreek leaves weighed in too heavily. My suggestion would be to reduce the fenugreek leaves so that the aroma and taste leaves the client wondering what that herb is.
Mini missi Roti: So, this roti requires some work. It had a bit too much gram flour for my liking, but it might have a lot to do with how much gram flour I like anyway. Maybe a brush of extras ghee would have worked wonders.
Dessert
Chokhi Dhani Medley Platter: This was a pleasant little surprise but I was initially too scared to disturb it...until I realised that pretty things like that Platter are meant to be disturbed. A small mix of sweets...the best part of which is the quantity: not too much, not too little, 'just perfect'.
My verdict is: Choki Dhani is actually a very good Indian restaurant and surpasses most of the standards I have for South Asian cusine.
Service: Excellent and refined. Great entertainment. We loved that the chef from Chennai came to speak to us and ask about the food.
Value for money? A bit pricey but totally worth the experience.
Would I go again? Indeed I would.
N. P.
Great Thali with fantastic mixture of dishes, proper authentic Rajesthani.
Recommend it
S. P.
Good Rajasthani food. The other items on the menu are okay. Service is good and the ambience is nice, although the piped music doesn’t go with the Rajasthani/Indian theme!
M. B.
Great ambience and wonderfully decorated with authentic rajasthani ornaments. The food is traditional rajasthani although I found ut to be slightly lacking in salt but that might be a one off and hence a 1 star off. Definitely a must go if you are a fan of traditional Indian cuisine
A. G.
Had the maharani thali. If you've eaten Rajasthani food before, this is an average place. It not value for money anyways. Several things are lacking - there's no Indian desert with the thali, the drink is missing as well. Overall average.
V. W.
We had lunch and it was fab. The waiter was attentive and the ambience was simply amazing. But the best part was the food. Every dish was exquisitely prepared. Laal Maas was a bit disappointing. Being a rajput I know my Rajasthani cuisine. Dessert were beautiful. Must visit.
C. E.
Wonderful food. Sea Bass is extremely flavorful...like nothing else I've ever tasted. The lamb in a tomato based sauce was excellent...savory!!! Will try to visit again before we leave this area!
J. V.
Great food and great service. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a good Indian. Prices are higher than your usual but the food was well worth it.
G. G.
Super nice restaurant - indian fine dining, with nice ambiance and great service. The guy helping us (Fletcher?) was super helpful and quick. Our dishes were delicious and very different. I will certainly come back!!
C. M.
Phenomenal service, delicious food and wine. Went to explore this little gem and was extremely pleasantly surprised with how great it was. Food was delicious and prompt and they had a lovey wine selection to choose from. The magician (therealmagicjunior) was the absolute highlight of our evening. Thank you!
p. d.
A bit disappointing. Mayfair prices but not the ethos or style. Portions minuscule,
though tasty. Service etiquette lacking, although friendly.
On that afternoon at lunchtime there were only 2 tables occupied, including
mine. There were 4 waiters loitering but no one approached our table for
15 mins and when I caught someone's attention, he motioned to someone else
who came to us a few mins. later. The joy of serving was lacking.
Extraordinary location and setting, but no desire to capitalise.
Will we go there again? The consensus was "No".
A. K.
Amazing food and good service. Thali is as good as original restaurant.
Super hot as we went in on super sunny day and AC was not working. Had just two fans for 10 odd tables.
K. V.
I had a classic, the chicken biryani. The rice was fragrant but the meat could've been slightly more cooked for a biriyani. For pedants, A mirchi ka salan was missing but the overall taste of the biriyani is conveyed well for an English restuarant
L. L.
Great food and very friendly staff :)
R. K.
Great ambiance, lovely food and good service.
C. S.
We had the best valentines dinner and the food was absolutely delicious! The waiter explained the menu and the service was impeccable. I can’t wait to go back!
V. G.
Delicious food! Great service! Truly authentic experience!
h. e.
Good naan, rice, drinks and service.
Bad curry. Watery and little flavour.
W. S.
Pros :Nice relaxed settings great decor and good place to dine good waiter service
Cons:very pricey ..the non alcoholic drinks not to tasty and pricey nan was really pricey and biryani was £21 for a small pot mmmm.
Service charge was £21 ....discretionary removed that and paid waiter a £10 tip I mean that's cheeky when restaurants do that ...make us feel guilty that we should be paying waiters ...do they not get a wage ...I don't see doctors receiving a service charge when they save people life's.
Anyway overall 65 to 70 percent good
Lower your prices plz and don't charge extornaite money for pieces of bread most restaurants do this as complimentary.
Would I recommend yes
Oh parkings a bit dodgy as they don't have no basement parking as stated on web page and watch the ticket people as they putting tickets on peoples car where they say if you park away from this lampost then you get a ticket.
No signs to say that so how would you know ask a traffic warden before parking
W.
Great Ambience, great food and fantastic staff!!Had a great evening with my family.Mr.Aliston( the Manager)was very helpful and very accommodating, not to forget the staff named Percy,Dinni and Chef Mathew were amazing.Top class customer service and very customer oriented staff in Chokhi Dhani.Must visit place for lunch or dinner, hand picked Indian custom made thalis, wall hanging, jewellery and tables are being showcased for the customer view which adds up an extra authentic Indian culture to the ambience and surely food which is fit for a King to enjoy!!😊😊😊👍Must visit place!!Thank you for your wonderful service Mr.Aliston and team.😊Will definitely visit you again!!!
P. U.
Food was good. I mean don’t compare what your mom food taste like because I am from Rajasthan and I know how exactly every dish should taste like. I will give 3 starts max.
u. g.
Authentic indian cuisine. I tried their maharani thali and it reminded me of India :) only downside is parking is a bit of an issue. You can park in Waitrose or Sainsbury's for a while and walk to this place but otherwise it's difficult to find any parking nearby.
D. A.
Amazing food, great interiors and undiluted crowd. Some portion sizes could be disappointing given the price of the dish.
B. B.
Fabulous! The food is very tasty, the atmosphere is beautiful, and the service was excellent. I've known about this place for over a year but went in for the first time and was very impressed. Will be back!

(Translated) The restaurant is very interested in the decor and the design is very beautiful
The food they have is somewhat good, but it does not rise because it is special
If you revolve around Indian food and you are not interested in decoration, there are better options
(Original)
