Reviews of El Ganso Cafe
K. L.
Fairly average tapas in terms of taste. Portions aren't big enough to share between more than 4 people unless ordering many dishes. Quite disappointed in the padron peppers and squid ink paella. The atmosphere is quite lively and the waiter was a super nice guy, just let down by the food quality and portion size.
S. P.
We've had really yummy food here a few times. The staff are friendly, it's a great location especially on a sunny afternoon and the food is good. It's not exactly reasonable but neither expensive as tends to be the case with tapas but its definitely worth a try.
O. M.
Great seasoning! From the starters to desserts this place has it all! Excellent service and a cozy atmosphere. Definitely a good restaurant to enjoy around london fields! 👏🏽👏🏽
D. N. W.
Foid was delicious, everything we got we loved! Scallop tacos, octopus, vegan paella, halibut...all amazing, tasty and fresh! Lovely bottle of Gavi and of course some sangria to wash everything down, it was delightful!
E. O.
I loved this place. Nice decor and a lovely location. Everyone was so chilled out in the area it definitely wasn't a shoes sort of a place, very hip.
The staff were friendly. And the food was delicious. You can't beat a good tapas. I would definitely come again.
j. d.
I'd say the best tapas place which has fried courgette flower on the menu in London. all other tapas menus are also amazing and staff members are friendly especially Umit!
definitely will pop in again for paella next time!
K. H.
Excellent Tapas, Great Cocktails and Friendly Service.
J. C.
A great little restaurant. Popped in for a light meal/ brunch & had ham croquettes, bean soup & calamari tapas, all of which were delicious. The coffee was great, too. Staff were friendly & prompt & the prices reasonable, highly recommend.
R. M.
Visited here in May 21 for the first time and the whole experience was fantastic. Brilliant service, food and wine. The tapas portion sizes are good, you don't feel hard done by with anything. Would recommend the croquettes and octopus in particular. Will definitely be returning
N. P.
love this place! Had my birthday there and they could not do enough for me, the food is also awesome! the lamb and cod tapas were divine and the tortilla the best I have had outside of Madrid!
K. W.
Great tapas with really interesting flavours. The service is amazing too - we loved the pulpo and the buñuelos de bacalao
R. S.
Such great food… the Bloody Mary is fantastic! The service was the best I’ve had in England :D they even offered for us to take our drinks in a take away cup!
k. D.
Highly recommend this place, it has a relaxed atmosphere, the staff are super friendly and the food is excellent! Great small tapas plates to share with your family and friends for any occasion
L. A.
The most delicious food! Staff and atmosphere. We had the pork belly / sweet potato special and it was incredible. Can’t wait to come back
G. N.
Amazing food and friendly staff. The music was a bit off but ok. Our booking confirmation stated that it is for 2h, which is fair enough. After 2h and 3 min a staff member approached me while my friend was in the toilet and said that the next booking has arrived. I explained that my friend was in the toilet and soon will be leaving, he said that’s ok and when she is back make sure you leave by making a gesture of putting on your coats and leave. We left 6 minutes after the end of our booking. It’s a shame really, because we had a lovely night, lovely food and this staff member left us a bit disappointed.
C. D.
I've been here a few times over the past few years and have NEVER been disappointed; each time I come I don't think the quality of the food can be improved......how wrong am I!
This evening I not only enjoyed THE best Tortilla in London but also two wonderful specials; belly of Pork & an Apple Tart.......just to die for! If I could give more stars I would; Full & every credit to tonight's Chef: Clodia...
A. Z.
Came here for churros but they were not available. Huge disappointment. Food and coffee were alright but not impressive.
H. C.
Amazing tapas! It's sometimes hard to find a place that cooks spanish tapas is a special, flavourful and fresh way. I can't recommend this place enough. If you want to enjoy super fresh and delicious food, come here. The restaurant is small but lively and the staff are super friendly. Good place to bring kids as well.
F. S.
I hope they appreciated that I showed politeness and restraint not eating the plate as well.
G. C.
I think I’m going to say it. Am I? Should I? Erm... ok I am. Here we go...
This is the best breakfast I have had in London!
It was incredible and I’m not over egging this. Everything was delicious and served with speed and friendliness. And price wise it isn’t that expensive (English Breakfast £10 smashed Avo on sourdough with salmon £9) and you get a fabulous plateful so I say it rates high on value for money.
Will return. And return
V. M.
Fantastic tapas. Just order the entire menu and you’re onto a winner. The courgette flowers and cheeseboard were standout classics, and the patron peppers and Gambas
A.
Great vibe everyday. Super ncie tapas and hardworking staff. Highly recomment all of their roce-based dishes.
V. I.
Loved the place - all tapas we tried were excellent. There's just 2 beer types offered, but their wine list is very rich - you'll definitely find something to your taste. There's a lot of buzz and the staff really takes the extra mile to keep you happy. Highly recommended for a nice brunch, just keep in mind you need to get there by bike / foot, as there's no parking in the area.
M. C.
Super tasty brunch with interesting twists on traditional brunch dishes. Great produce and really friendly, helpful staff.
A.
Absolutely delicious avocado on toast with poached egg and don't even get me started on the patatas bravas! It was hard to make a decision on what to get as the menu is filled with amazing sounding food which means I'll definitely be returning and taking friends there ! Regular iced latte was a tad bit small but still good. Other than that, lovely interior and super friendly staff and vibrant atmosphere.
A. C.
Really great food, nice atmosphere, good staff and decent prices (not too expensive).
R. P.
Lovely Spanish café with delicious brunch options. Staff were super friendly and helped me adjust a meal to be gluten free with no hassle or confusion. Overall, loved it and would definitely go back!
E. T.
Such a lovely Spanish restaurant on broadway market. Gets very busy at dinner time at the weekend. We were a group of 5 and waited about 15mins. We were treated with sangria whilst waiting. Tapas were lovely, small portions sharing plates which means we can all have a taste of everything. We had a vegetarian in our group and there are a fair number of vegetarian options. Good value for money. We will come back for the churros
J. J.
Been here many times and always excellent food. Reasonable price especially for the quality. The only disappointment this time is they don’t do the octopus ink risotto anymore which is a favourite! Please bring it back.
L. A. W.
Very nice place with very friendly staff and good food! Would love to go again.
O. R.
Not great for vegan breakfast but great overall. I've been to El Ganso a few times since it's local to me. They are very accomodating as I managed to order avocado on toast even though it's not on the menu for breakfast. Breakfast menu is mostly eggs. For dining after 12 they do tapas which has a lot more options. I'd recommend it for non-vegan breakfasts and for afternoon dining. Lovely people will definitely take care of you.
M. M.
We decided to come here as a family and were pleased that we did. They offer a nice range of drinks and an amazing array of delicious Spanish food. We opted for a lovely bottle of Spanish wine to accompany our selection of Tapas. The Tapas that arrived were delicious and were presented beautifully. Rounding off this lovely experience were friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended!
a. n.
I expected it to be wow but it was just okay. The potatoes with the different sauce was my favourite followed by the amazing croquettes and the rest I would have preferred to skip
D. J.
Everything we've ordered we loved, octopus, black ink rice with squid, croquettes and tomatoe salad, all absolutely delicious. The squid in the rice was very tender, octopus likewise. Just two little criticism: the prawn on the rice was a bit overcooked and the olives on the side are not the best olives, they reminded me too much of the cheapest olives you can get in Spain with a taste of anchovies in the brine. Still can't wait to go back and have them all over again. Oh also lovely staff, good service!
Ps. The photo doesn't do a justice to the taste of the rice but putting it up anyway!
R. E.
Best Tapas in Town! Effe and the rest of the staff make it very welcoming and create a lovely atmosphere. We ended up spending over 3 hours trying most of their dishes and chatting to the staff. The food is simply delicious. Make sure to try the Courgette Flower;)
A. A.
Lovely place for breakfast, food was fantastic first visit will be back again.
W. W.
Fantastic food and good service. Great place to sit out in the sun and watch the life go by on Broadway Market. The price is definitely a bit high on certain dishes, but everything else made up for it.
A. M. H.
Really nice place for breakfast, providing you like eggs. Every meal was egg based appart from the granola, that being said it was very tastey. Also the drinks came staggered through our meal and one was forgotten about, we had you ask twice if it.
E. W.
Really lovely restaurant. Amazing atmosphere and lovely staff. Food was really well priced for portion sizes (note: generous portions so order appropriately). Very very tasty and balanced menu between meat, fish and veggies. Alcohol a little on the expensive side, but understand that this is probably where restaurants have to recover costs. Would definitely recommend for a lively dinner out.
M. M.
Great food. Nice staff. Great Location. Very happy indeed.
A.
Good breakfast choices, food was tasty. If it’s really busy very noisy. Nice location especially on a Saturday with the market outside. Had the Full English and Turkish Breakfast. Will be back for Tapas.
A. D.
10/10 for food, service and drinks! Honestly have never been so well looked after in any other restaurant before. The team are just brilliant, so smiley and friendly. The layout of the cafe is perfect, plenty of space and comfy. The food was outstanding, so authentic. I'm bringing my mum back here next month for her birthday. Can't fault a single thing! Thank you :)
A. L.
Friendly staff. Decent tapas. (Not a fan of the olives but that’s really personal preference.) For quality of food, slightly pricey (I’ve had better tapas more reasonably priced) but maybe you’re paying for location here. Great location especially for people watching! Good atmosphere - place has a nice vibe.
T.
Amazing food. They really know how to cook delicious Spanish dishes. Friendly staff 👏🏻
H. M.
Tasty. Quick. Friendly staff. Groovy ambience. Again very tasty. Good value, and above all tasty.
G.
CRACKING tapas. My favourite tapas place to go. Open all year round no matter the holiday!! I love this place.
M. F.
Amazing food and very pretty location. A bit on the expensive side but 100% worth it!
J. P.
Always ive gone had good food quality isnt the best, but is good if you wanna experience tapas style, I really recommended prices are a little high for the portions, but service is incredible amazing!!
M. M.
The food is good and the staff is friendly. On weekends is too busy.
M. C. D. S. C.
I found it good, a bit expensive for the size of the dishes and the menu description was not that clear, but even though I liked everything I had.
A. O.
Had a great 4 cheese pizza here. Staff were bit slow, but we were hidden behind the bar!
Still great atmosphere and great food.
k. h.
Great Spanish food and tapas, nice and helpful staff
R. M.
Always great. I have been many times and have never felt ripped off by the portions. Not like most other small sharing dish trendy restaurants popping up around London where you end up spending a fortune to feel full. Great service and location too, right next to a great Jazz bar!
G. P.
Nice atmosphere, Delicious Spanish food with a twist, Friendly Service
A. B.
Best brunch in Broadway market, such a great spot, always manages to have room.
H. M.
Best tapas bar in London.. highly recommended..
thanks el ganso team
K.
Amazing place, nice music and the food is mind blowing! 😊
J. M.
Very expensive for, at best, average quality food and I'm probably being generous. However, the service was good.
S. G.
Had a brilliant experience.
Even though we walked up on a warm Saturday night we were able to get a table for two and prompt service throughout our meal.
Our waitress was friendly and helpful which made the meal even better.
Highly recommended for tasty food on the market.
J. A.
Popped in on a sunny Sunday lunchtime and was blown away! Almost went back later for dinner… the black rice paella is pure flames
K. R.
Delicious food. Portions might look small but are quite filling. Suid ink aiolii was particularly delicious with the calamari.
L. Y.
The food is delicious and at very reasonable prices, but the extra star is for their staff. Every time we've been there they've been super attentive
S. A.
Had the most brilliant tapas. So tasty. Absolutely delicious. Service amazing too.
A great place to celebrate a Birthday.
Highly recommended.
A.
Staff were brilliant and food was delicious. Top restaurant!
G. F.
This is one of my favourite places to eat in London! Every time, every dish is absolutely brilliant. I went 4 times and it never let me down! Friendly staff and lovely area for a walk. Huevos Rotos and Croquetas de Setas are my absolute favourite ❤️🔥
H. M.
Amazing customer service. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food tasted okay. Portions are small!
H. S. (.
Booked for 9 people yesterday. We had a really great time. The food is delicious and well presented, being 9 we could try a large choice of tapas and all of them where tasty. The team we had was friendly, well-organised and our waiter was really cool, speaking French, Spanish and English to suit to our international table. That was really kind.
Had a great time. Going back for sure.
S. S.
We came for the first time yesterday and cannot recommend it highly enough. The food was incredible (I'm still thinking about the courgette flower) and the staff went above and beyond. They made my partners birthday so wonderful when he had been a little down about not being able to have a big group due to the new rules. The staff were so accommodating (especially as we certainly weren't the quietest group!) and really made our night. We will def be back, thank you!
F. L.
Great Tapas and Service, Friendly Staff and good Vibes !
L. C.
Absolutely wonderful food the best all the staff were so helpful
L. F.
Absolutely LOVE this place. The staff are lovely, atmosphere is great, amazing wine and the food is phenomenal. I go to a lot of tapas restaurants and this is by far the best for me. It's not over the top, super relaxed and chill. My friends and I love nothing more than sitting at one of their outdoor tables in the summer drinking their epic sangria and having a long and leisurely lunch/dinner. Highly recommend it 👌
N. M.
My boyfriend and i love this place! I've spent a long time hunting for good tapas in London and it's certainly difficult to find but El Ganso absolutely nails it. Love the food, the service, the music, the margaritas. We have a great experience every time we visit
N. N.
Lovely food, atmosphere and staff. Good value and exquisite presentation.
Ż. M.
One of the best breakfast or brunch places. Delicious eggs on toast... Avocado mush... Beautiful menu. Options with a twist and vegan or veg friendly. Yumyyyyyy
V. T.
Great place for Spanish brunch, nice ambience and lovely service
G. H.
Delicious food! And staff were very friendly too
N. F.
Had the most delicious breakfast. Staff was lovely and attentive.
J. G.
Insane value for money! The best tapas i had outside Spain, and even for spain it is high up! Very nice atmosphere and neighbourhood, totally great
T. W.
Great atmosphere and food. The only disappointment was that the creme brulee was off the menu. A super meal. Thank you.
c. h.
Super tasty, lovely staff, just fab
E. P.
Lovely Spanish food and great cocktails, they let us stay on even though I was running late and it was worth it. Really really like the pork paella. I always look forward to paella and never enjoy it, but this time was different!
R. W.
It used to be my favorite restaurant.
But since a couple of months the food took a different direction...
And not quite sure if a better one.
Service is still lovely. The place itself is still charming...
But I don't feel like it's a Spanish restaurant anymore.
Burritos, some turkish platters and some bits of spanish tapas; a very strange combination where the quality of the food is not there as it used to be.
No idea if they have changed the owner or the chef, I have no clue... But there is a massive difference on the menu and the outcome of the dishes.
I really hope they come back to the tracks.
T. B.
My boyfriend and I went in search of tapas lst night as a pre birthday treat. El Ganso didn't appear 1st im my search but we was very lucky to have stumbled across it.
Apon sitting down we was immediately given glasses of ice tap water witch on such a hot evening was very appreciated.
Tho busy it was very easy to catch the attention of the staff as they moved around the tables, this team provided some of the best services I have ever had.
The food.
Every we had was soo delicious, and came to the table at a really good pase. A fantastic example of simple and classic tapas done to an extent standard!
It was very busy and if you are precious about the social distancing rules you may feel uncomfortable.
Not only will I be retuning to this restaurant I'm am both excited and looking forward to doing so.
Well done El Ganso, we had a great evening with you for my pr birthday.
J. L.
Highly recommend.
Really relaxed vibe with knowledgable and smiley staff.
Delicious tapas at decent (london) prices
Pedro ximenez to end the meal is necessary!
Also if your a fan of meat, the lamb chops are to DIE FOR. But thankfully, a baby sheep already died for it so you’re in the clear.
We’ll be bringing our friends back here- there’s even a flamenco night every second Wednesday
M. R.
Very small and cozy cafe/ restaurant. Very nice staff, polite and helpful when it came to ordering. Nice clean toilets, some seating outside with a good quality canopy so you could sit outside during the colder weather. The mozzarella is top quality, as is the sourdough bread, the coffee is good too. I have not eaten here at night, only for lunch, but it has been highly recommended by my friends. Saturday's would probably be quite busy as the market is on, so bare that in mind if you decide to visit .
M. N.
Delicious tapas food, loads of vegetarian options. Friendly staff. Solid choice for lunch and dinner.
N. F.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in London, so I’ve been several times.
The food has been brilliant every time. I’ve not had a bad dish. The socials change all the time and are just as good, if not better, than the regular menu.
The wine options are excellent.
The service is good and friendly, particularly for such a busy place.
D. K.
Delicious food. Menu is fill of options and good prices
f. b.
The most delicious tapas - all our dishes were amazing- and really friendly helpful staff too. Highly recommended
M. C.
I love this place. Went for breakfast for the second time and the food and coffee just gets better. They also serve a great Cava. You'll need to book as it's a small sized cafe. They have outdoor seating too, just wrap up!
A. S.
Bit expensive. But great food and service. Enjoyed our visit
E. F.
Our party had Shakshuka, Turkish Eggs and an English breakfast. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the coffees and juices were lovely too!
J. 1.
Good food and good vibes ! Been here a few times and have had the best tapas around, Their grilled chorizo, Octopus tapas and charcuterie selection are really good. Great Service, Highly Recommended
S. J.
Great food, great staff and a great atmosphere.
B. S.
I've been looking for a place like this for a while now and I finally found it today. Excellent food, great atmosphere and really friendly staff. Will definitely be going back!
J. B.
Super tasty brunch! Probably the best option on Broadway Market for an eggy type brunch / brrakfast
S. D.
friendly environment smile, ing face delicious food excellent service and affordable price
D.
Incredible breakfast - lots of options and all looked great. The Shakshuka was phenomenal
S. C.
10/10. Great atmosphere & staff. Food was delicious, actually best tapas I had in London for a while. Smooth service, only waited 5 minutes to be seated (being a walk-in). They even brought us the wine outside to smoothen up the wait. That’s how you do hospitality! Keep up the great work and energy!
N. W.
I love this restaurant. Food and drinks are all delicious, good atmosphere and when we went it was my birthday and they made it so much fun. Highly recommend for breakfast too.
C. F.
Amazing food and super friendly staff. Highly recommend! Will make it a regular
M. M.
Really nice food , and fresh tasting beer
T. H.
Such a great little Spanish place on Broadway Market. Come here for a long slow lunch with friends, ordering well portioned tapas and wine as you go. The staff are all incredibly attentive and the food is consistently great quality.
J. B.
Simply excellent! Great breakfast/brunch with cocktails. Very attentive staff. Highly recommend.
F. M.
A great dining experience.
J.
Happen to stumble into this great cafe during Storm Ciara and what a great find it was! The staff were so friendly, welcoming and incredibly smiley. We really enjoyed the choice on the brunch menu and the food did not disappoint. Thanks for a great time!
M. A.
One of my favourite restaurants to go to. Menu changes seasonally and this place is a must. Great food, great vibe and always look forward to go back. The courgette flowers are a must if they are on the menu!
F. M.
Great food great service great atmosphere. Anna was also taking great care of us.
b. s.
Pleasant and helpful staff. Unpretentious good food at a reasonable price for this area of London.
S. A.
Good food and a wide selection of tapas and drinks. Accepts walk ins.
C.
Great tapas restaurant! Super fresh and tasty food!
T. L. M.
Boquerones, *beautiful* Cinco Jotas jamon, and a lovely glass of sherry. I'd come back for that once a week if I lived in London
S. S.
We came for the first time yesterday and cannot recommend it highly enough. The food was incredible (I'm still thinking about the courgette flower) and the staff went above and beyond. They made my partners birthday so wonderful when he had …
M. C.
Loved the food. Wine was nice too.
S. R.
Reasonably priced and delicious. On a greasy side of the things.
M. M.
Can’t tell about the food. Coffee is good enough and you won’t struggle too much to get a table for breakfast
K. A.
Superb food and amazing staff. Highly recommend!
Ż. M.
One of the best breakfast or brunch places. Delicious eggs on toast... Avocado mush... Beautiful menu. Options with a twist and vegan or veg friendly. Yumyyyyyy
J. F.
Tapas menu variable but not all dishes are saviourable.
Try salmon, black rice, mushroom tapas.
Some cocktails need extras adding.
T. L. M.
Boquerones, *beautiful* Cinco Jotas jamon, and a lovely glass of sherry. I'd come back for that once a week if I lived in London
S. S.
The place was one of my favourite restaurants in the whole of London and I used to come here for breakfasts long before I moved to Hackney. Breakfast options have a very wide variety, are incredibly delicious and beautifully served. Post-breakfast tapas dishes are nice, with moderate sized portions. Service is top notch, with a middle aged guy who seems to be the manager or owner being incredibly nice and positive all the time.
S. P. B.
Umit was delightful. Delicious food too 💚💚💚
d. t.
Consistently great breakfast/brunch and good service despite being bustling. Interesting choices as well as better than normal classics. Heard dinner is good too. Only criticism was the coffee that was a bit sour for my taste but need to try again in case it was a one off.
S. H.
10/10 always come for brunch - scrambled egg, pan con tomate, manchego cheese! Or poached eggs!
Great tapas in the evenings/ nights too.
Caravan Coffee used, juices and cocktails are always great.
Beautiful in warm weather as all the doors are opened up for inside outside dining.
Staff are so friendly, and same familiar faces eager to get you seated.
Couldn’t recommend more, constantly returning.
G. H.
Amazing service and fantastic staff. Umit was incredible
N. H.
The food is incredible and the staff lovely. Always guaranteed to be a great atmosphere and to have an enjoyable evening. It is a little on the pricey side - but then I haven't been a Londoner long so I'm not used to the extortion :P. Highly recommended!
R. R.
Great food and wonderful atmosphere
C. L.
We went on a Saturday evening at around 9, not having booked, and it was packed but luckily people were leaving and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Almost walked into next door Bella Vita which was just as busy (but bigger).
The place has a lively but down to earth atmosphere. Food was excellent, you might be mistaken for the price vs portion size (on the small side) but it was definitely worth it. Pulpo and scallops were very fresh and perfectly cooked, truffle croquetas were simply heaven. There was enough choice for us pescatarians. Good wine list too. It was my first visit having had good recommendation and won’t be my last!
I. Y.
Not without fault, but the food, atmosphere, and staff were all excellent.
Compares favourably with the same dishes in Barcelona.
One dish was overcooked, but there was no fuss with sending it back and chef offered to make a fresh one, but we were stuffed anyway.
J. H.
Great little Spanish tapas spot. By the time the dishes start arriving we always wish we had a third or fourth person to share it with as we always order too much and are always surprised by the quantity of food. The service is attentive and friendly.
m. z. a.
Delicious food, great vibe, friendly and also very professional staff. Goat cheese stuffed flower is a must if you are lucky enough.
S.
Not a big fan of Spanish tapas unless I am in Spain, however I liked every single plate was ordered.
I've been a Wed: nice atmosphere, nice people, the road is quiet. I would definitely recommend to try
J. H.
Lovely place with really solid food. Staff were excellent in looking after our very large group and managing the restaurant around us as our needs changed. I left with a very happy team and not too light a wallet given how much we ate and drank.
B. W.
Incredible breakfast/brunch in a gorgeous atmosphere. The staff are really friendly, and there's always a good buzz about the place. When we have guests staying from overseas we like to take them here along Regents Canal.
S. B.
Probably my favourite restaurant in the area. Food is good but not too expensive, it's usually busy and the staff are good. There can be a wait on popular nights (a warm Saturday evening) but it's worth it. They open the front up so even if you're not outside it's nice in there. And the wine was nice.
M. F.
Tasty tapas on broadway market. Staff are great and the food is pretty good. Only comment is that perhaps it’s a bit inconsistent. Sone of the dishes are genuinely spectacular but some are disappointingly bland and average. That said, when the suns out this is a great spot!
A. M.
Was a little disappointed, given the current reviews. Perhaps we ended up choosing the wrong dishes but our of the prawns, artichoke, octopus and pan con tomate only the octopus was genuinely tasty. The rest was quite bland and not so cheap. It was very crowded when we went.
C. R.
Cute tapas bar on Broadway Market. The courgette flower, huevos rotos and brownie were amazing, with the pulpo tasting a bit meh. Overall, a pleasant experience though!
K. M.
Great location in the market, wine and food were lovely and the service was fantastic! 2/3 dishes per person is more than enough, even for a fatty like me!
K. V.
Absolutely loved this place! It was a hot busy day but me and my dad got a table next to the window immediately!!! Food was amazing and super quick! Very friendly staff! Definitely coming back soon!
D. M.
Fabulous atmosphere, fantastic food, friendly staff, great menu. If you're in the area and want the best tapas this is the place to go. Thanks for a wonderful lunch today.
J. R.
I was invited for an evening out for tapas, so was expecting traditional Spanish dishes. This was a more modern gastro-pub version of tapas. Sad not to see gizapacho on the menu as it would have been refreshing in the heat, but it was a good meal none the less. On the pricier side, but a nice vibe and great service.
D. C.
Very mixed. The place was heaving on a Saturday lunchtime. Waited for about 25 minutes before order was taken and had to beckon someone over. Food was OK but several of the dishes were luke warm and they were served in dribs and drabs. The stuffed courgette flower was great and the huevos rotos were good. We ordered the bacalao and it was cool, without the promised pine nuts and drenched in alioli which was supposed to be the gratin. It also had loads of raw sliced garlic in it. I wondered whether they had just forgotten to put it under the grill. There was a lovely warm atmosphere but I am afraid the food was a disappointment. They forgot about our drinks too . . .
S. T.
Really enjoyed the brunch here - very tasty, friendly and swift service and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. The other dishes looked really good too and am keen to return to sample more!
A. M.
A bit on the expensive side (or so my friends think), but the experience is totally worth it. I have never had food at El Ganso that wasn't amazing. The breakfast options are to die for!
A. L.
What a nice place and staff! We were very pleasantly surprised! Food is really lovely, the staff are all very attentive and polite and they went out of their way to make sure that our dogs felt comfortable! Great place!
P. A.
Good tapas! (The octopus and the pan con tomate are amazing)
B. C.
Made a visit on a lovely sunny Friday eve. They were fully booked but took my mob no and called when there was a cancellation. Great food, great service. Shame we were in a rush and couldn't stay longer .
E. c.
Pretty decent tapas! Thier Jamon and tomato bread are really good and they have ever changing specials! Lovely staff. Cute and cosy little resturant - definitely worth booking Thurs-Sun as it gets very busy.
T. G.
Best eggs benedict I had in London. I was moaning as I ate. I hate when ppl do that. Absolutely lovely staff. Quick service. Perfect.
D. M.
We have ordered 8 dishes on blind. 5 were good and 3 bad. This means 3 stars. And the prices are bit high. But at that location all the restaurants are like that. So - as always go to the pub across the street. Or order something you know. But again - it's all about the location.
P. A.
A great tapas restaurant. We go here a lot and have never been let down. The food is excellent and the service staff polite and accommodating.
M. S.
Such a lovely dining experience. Every dish was delicious. If you're a meat eater, definitely get the Chorizo a la Sidra. Nice selection of wines. And if they suggest the churros at the end - just go for it!
R. S.
Great little Spanish tapas restaurant! Luckily, on a busy Sunday morning we were able to get a seat fast and with a welcoming smile from the servers. They were knowledgable about the food and were helpful. The food was simple, but really flavorful. I had the duck egg breakfast benedict-like meal and my wife had the pancakes, which came with fresh fruit and yogurt. The portions weren't so big that I felt really full afterwards, but it was just enough food. We definitely enjoyed ourselves at El Ganso.
J. R.
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was top drawer. Great little spot
R. R.
One of my favourite places to eat in London that I take family and friends to regularly. Yes, it's small and it gets packed but that should tell you something. One thing you need to know is to have the octopus, always have the octopus!
J. W.
LOVE this restaurant - the staff are incredible, food is delicious, great location on Broadway Market. Brought my family here for my mum's birthday and they made it so special. Thanks guys x
T. R.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great cocktails. 5 stars.
L. F.
Delicious arroz verde but very salty!
D. A.
This is a nice Spanish spot, not the best in London but possibly the best in the area if you're looking for Spanish tapas and wines. I would recommend the tortilla, it's quite fresh and express cooked. Croquettes were excellent even though a bit overpriced (as usual). Courgette flowers were disappointing but I reckon it mustn't be easy finding fresh courgette flowers in London, any time of the year.
M. C.
I like this place and haven't had a bad meal, the staff are friendly and efficient and the specials are interesting. My one minor gripe is that the food comes a little quick, if you ask to slow down, especially with tapas..then it should be a little more leisurely.
A.
Great food, good value for money and a very lively ambiance. Definitely book this place beforehand as it was very busy and I don't expect them to have a lot of space for walk-ins.
S. G.
Food and atmosphere was amazing! Cocktails took a little while to arrive but tasted great! Worth the wait in my opinion
S. A.
Good food and a wide selection of tapas and drinks. Accepts walk ins.
M. C.
Great food...Some of the best tapas I've had. Great atmosphere and the owner and staff are extremely welcoming. Couldn't recommend this place more. Never disappoints.
S. E.
Don’t listen to Jen Ji. You guys are doing great! If you don’t want to make the squid ink risotto anymore that’s ok, you rock with all your other dishes. I’m a regular here and you never disappoint!
N.
Lovely cosy little cafe to complement the buzzing Saturday market just outside. Decent size portions and delicious food combined with fast service make this a recommended one for tasty brunch in good company.
A. S. K.
As much as I like this place's atmosphere and the staff working there, I must say I was a little disappointed when I saw the gambas dish containing four non edible prawn heads, giant but still - not edible and two little prawn bodies that I could eat for my dinner. Take away seemed like it was much worse than what you get when you stay in.
J. D.
Charming little cafe/restaurant with delicious tapas/larger dishes and excellent coffee blend. Lovely people and great service. Highly recommended!
D.
Nice meal. Good price. Service for food was slow for my meal, as my friend ate his main before mine arrived. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.
P. B.
Favourite restaurant in Hackney by a long way. Delicious food, staff that love and know their food, great wines, plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Always a pleasure to come here.
V. C.
Very pleasant cafe.Great coffee ,tempting baking( which we unfortunately had to decline e as booked elsewhere for lunch!!)
P. B.
Great Spanish restaurant friendly staff, great atmosphere well worth a visit
G. L.
Very good service. Food is not served in a traditional way, but rather trying to fit British expectations, but still good if you are up to try new things. Pricey.
C. I.
Really positive surprise! Wide selection of authentic tapas; good wine and even at busy times always super-friendly service - will return!
A. M.
Really enjoyed this place, good tapas and wines and it's also pet friendly.
I would recommend booking a table before going there for dinner, because it gets busy especially during weekend.
M. “. P.
The food and wine was delicious. Well located and the staff were very helpful when it came to dealing with dietary requirements.
Would recommend.
I. S.
The food. O M G! Literally every single tapas we has tonight was amazing! Staff is super friendly and nice as well! Cannot wait to go back there again! A little gem in London!
C.
Great tapas restaurant! Super fresh and tasty food!
T. B.
Great tapas & friendly service. We go there on a regular basis, and can't get enough of it. The octopus & artichoke are usually just amazing.
A. C.
Great place to enjoy the market and people watch. Lively and not too loud with fast service. Food is good, coffee not amazing but if you're not fussy it's more than fine!
A. T.
Great food, well executed flavours and super fresh ingredients. Service is friendly and warm. Lots of classic tapas and good wine.
P. B.
Fantastic food, great service. Really nice and interesting tapas - probably the best I've had in London.
E. S.
Been going regularly during lockdown. Always great service with a smile and personality. Highly recommend their breakfast burrito.
D. S.
Located on the increasingly popular Broadway market - great people watching so get a stool at the window. Brunch was brunch with a Spanish twists in the ingredients, and there were a few interesting small dishes coming out of the kitchen, that will have me coming back to try.
A. G.
We love this place, we visit at least once a month and always bring guests. Great food and service. Best brunch on Broadway Market!
C. M.
We ate at El Ganso to check out in real life out beloved take away staple. It was unsurprisingly delicious, but the smiling and helpful waiters and waitresses were a lovely addition to our sunday dinner.
C. D.
Decent tapas - not just the standard selection. Drinks are good too. Always a good atmosphere
B. F.
Pricey but delicious. Perfectly poached duck eggs, and the fried cheese sandwich was like french onion soup in a bun. Well worth the stop!
a. a.
First visit here, had breakfast with friends. The menu was extensive & the food was lovely. I highly recommend you pay a visit. :-)
D.
This is my goto place when I want a coffee. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
K. A.
Superb food and amazing staff. Highly recommend!
S.
Small but lovely place, right in the heart of the market on Saturdays where you can people watch and souk up the atmosphere. The churros and cocktails were delicious.
J. C.
Waiters are great fun and food is really really good, good for a date or for when the family visit London. Would recommed the pork belly. Cheers!
M. V.
Incredibly quick service and tasty food. We booked a table and had the table ready when we got there, really enjoyable experience.
k. z.
TRULY OUTSTANDING! Feels like being on holiday this place is truly incredible fresh delicious ingredients a current and wonderful menu and strong lush alcohol! My new favourite a must visit!
B. M.
Fabulous and delicious Tapas provided by smiling and friendly staff in a relaxed and cosy environment with the occasional theme nights, the flamenco to be recommended in particular.
R. R.
If you need to sit down and take a break from the madness at Broadway Market, this tapas place is quite right! Nice terrace, friendly Spanish waitress and very decent tapas.
S. H.
My friend and I ordered everything on the vegetarian section of the menu, and it was fabulous. The ricotta-stuffed courgette flowers drizzled in honey are to die for.
h. g.
Food nice staff nice service great best restaurant of Broadway market
R. A.
Strong recommendation for breakfast and lunch. Always take the chorizo, one of Londons best for Spanish influenced food. Great Cortado.
S. M.
Really nice place and great food, staff seemed a bit unprepared for the amount of people on a Sunday morning, but we were happy overall by the quality of food and location.
B. Ö.
Every time I am in London, I come here to have breakfast. English Breakfast and Pancakes are amazing!
C. D. G.
Very good Spanish tapas. Also good atmosphere. You will very likely find it busy so always best to try and book a table.
M. P.
Everything was lovely, especially the pulpo and tuna tataki. I am very particular about the way I like tortilla and I found this one a bit bland. Overall I would recommend this place.
G. N.
Excellent service, great food and fantastic ambiance!
S. A.
Great food, buzzing ambience and really nice staff. All in the heart of a lively Broadway Market. Loved it!
L. C.
The food is just SO GOOD, and the staff are always super friendly and helpful, one of my favourite food places around London.
M. V. C.
Really Tasty! Not too expensive either. We really enjoyed all the food without exceptions. The tuna tataki really surprised us as well as the Secreto Iberico. I really recommend this place.
S. H.
I think possibly the best churros I’ve ever had. Brunches were all a slight twist on the standard, and delicious.

Cosy atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food. Tried the toast Royale and some fresh made juice, all made do perfection.
T. M.
Most plates are good. Over priced though, and most tapas are very much on the small side. Bread should be free.
M. H.
Delicious tapas and reassuringly busy. The jamon croquettes were excellent, as was the squid ink (squink?) risotto.
P. G.
El Ganso never fails to serve the most delicious tapas, we love the brunch menu too, and the staff are always lovely !
