Reviews of El Pirata of Mayfair - Tapas Bar Español
G. O. T.
The food was tasty enough, but portions were so small for the price!! Also service was a bit slow. It was strange the cheese plate came with no bread…..you had to buy that separately….
However, I like the food overall! Wouldn’t say it’s amazing but definitely good.
The ambiance is nice, love the art on the walls, and a nice location
S.
Food: ☆☆☆
The tapas and the fruity white wine were great. But the taste of Paella could still be improved as it tasted differently from the authentic Spanish ones. Also, you're required to wait 40 mins for the Paella to be ready.
Price: £££
The price is a little pricy compared to the portion of the food.
Hospitality: ☆☆☆☆☆
Great services from the waiter and waitress.
T. G.
The Iberian pork is very delicious and the paella is very authentic. But the amount of other dishes was indeed a bit small, and five people ate it quickly.
S. X.
Had a lovely dinner in one of the cave sections. Staff were great and food was amazing! Would definitely recommend.
R. C.
Restaurant near to green park, good place to have some tapas from Spain. The food has been served very quickly, normal quality and good variety of dishes and wines/drinks. The price is not too expensive but aligned with the area. Service was good enough but the place looks a little bit older. Mini burger is the best choice and the other dishes are good to feel like you are in Spain.
N. P.
We tried a variety of dishes, but were all below average. Patatas bravas, octopus, seafood paella, croquetas de jamon and crema catalana were below average. The only nice dish was the dessert tarta Santiago. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend
T. B.
Cannot agree with the recent average reviews for this place. We have just visited for the first time and will be back. A lovely old style tapas bar in a great location on a Mayfair sidestreet. We had the sharing tapas which at £58 for 2 people with 9 dishes was great value especially considering the location. Wine also reasonably priced. Each dish was high quality and presented in stages without any rush between dishes. More than enough food on each dish and with a good variety. Service excellent prompt and unobtrusive. Highly recommended.
R. T.
Staff were really friendly and efficient, hence the 3 stars, but I would rate the food 2 stars overall. The seafood paella did not taste good, and the seafood was far from fresh. The other dishes we ordered were just okay, but we felt they were pricey given the small portions.
L. C.
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in Mayfair. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths... especially the croquettes. Absolutely the best meal we had while in Mayfair. Highly recommend!
M. U.
The tapas are delicious and so well presented. Cocktails are good and staff are attentive and polite. Prices are decent for the location .
Recommend booking a table ahead.

This octopus was amazing we have experienced this in many countries but this was WOW experience. Staff attentive friendly great. Chef was lovely, Great fab menu. A must visit venue, visiting again later this month.

So central and so convenient!
Staff is incredible, super focus and very kind with guests. Our reservation didn't go through and even on a super busy evening, the guys did manage to make our table for us. Food is authentic and very very tasty. My favourite was the pulpo with potatoes and the black rice. I'll definitely go back there! Thanks x
L. S.
Very good experience and good tapas. Cocktails were also very good. I was a bit disappointed by the jamon but the croquetas were delicious. The staff is very friendly and this really allows to enjoy the full Spanish experience! Def recommend it for a dinner with friends! Very good vegetarian options as well!
S. C.
Great food, great service, great drinks....great! I would definitely return. This place had a great buzz to it and our little 'cave' table was very sweet and also good for those with poor hearing! You must try the margaritas!
G. M.
Lovely Tapas in the heart of Mayfair, Excellent variety of dishes and good value.Friendly attentive staff can't wait to go back.
E. S. P.
We visited for the first time, tried the tapas tasting menu (which offers a whole variety of tapas to share for 25£/person) and had a great experience. Service was very quick (which was good, though sometimes it felt slightly rushed as we love "taking our time" when dining!). Food was nicely prepared and presented, and drinks/wines were lovely! So, overall great first experience and we will definitely be back. I would recommend visiting, when around Mayfair area!
H. M.
I had a lovely evening. The food was great, the menu was uncomplicated and the service was delivered with a smile and in a very timely manner. I would definitely return and recommend this gem to friends.
H. L. F.
Paella is the good but I wouldn’t recommend other dishes 🤷🏼♂️
K. K.
This place is ok for people who don’t know tapas and are fine with average and plain food. If you have been to Spain and have an expectation of tapas flavours and above average quality standard, I would not recommend this restaurant.
We ordered the following:
1. Ham croquettes - cheese filling split and was a bit grainy, didn’t have enough ham running through it to infuse it with flavour
2. Pan con tomate - instead of rubbing garlic, oil and tomato on the bread, they simply layered a pre-made tomato sauce and too much salt on the top.
3. Chorizo in red wine reduction - not flavoursome and tasted pre-cooked, dry and for some reason had carrots, why not with peppers, onions?
4. Cod cheeks - very nice, best thing we had!
5. Iberian ham - nice, some of the slices were a bit too thick
6. Salad (side) - ok
Nobody asked us whether we like the food (even though they could see we didn’t finish the dishes and didn’t order more). I gave them some feedback on the food and they removed dishes 1-3 from the bill which was very kind (added one star back for customer service). Still the bill came to £60 (£9 for sparkling water, we had no alcohol). We left hungry and had dinner at home.
L. M. S.
Delicious Spanish tapas and amazing staff!
Y. C.
A great place for dinner. Nice dishes and service. We ordered paella and two sides for two. But since it’s a bit noisy, you have to shout loud to be heard.
D. W.
Not having been to London for 3 years, went back to a place we had really liked. But the tapas menu was very limited in comparison, what we had was nice but if had been an evening meal we would have been disappointed with the lack of choice.
M. D.
Lovely place, nice atmosphere, great food, friendly staff. Mayfair prices, though I wasn't paying! I would definitely recommend.
S. M.
Buzzy atmosphere and great tapas plates make for an authentic Spanish experience. Staff are friendly, and service fast and attentive. Looking forward to making a return! Theluxereview.com

A vibrant place for Spanish Tapas. I really wanted to give it 5 stars however, I felt the Tapa’s we ordered were missing the zing and also flavour. I’m not overly picky but I do love my food. The service was okay but I felt they were rushing me even thought it wasn’t overly busy.
v.
Great service, lovely little Spanish tapas place, feels like I’m back in Barcelona. The portion sizes are not big but the food is authentic and really liked the octopus. Also saw Fred from First Dates here sat on the table next to us, apparently he’s a regular here!
P. H.
A lovely restaurant with contemporary decorations. They have quite an extensive menu. There are multiple paella options for w people to share. There are also a lot of tapas options. It does feel like a complete Spanish cuisine in one place
J. V.
Fantastic Spanish restaurant. Food was so tasty, great variety of tapas and wines, big portions, nice and friendly staff...everything placed in a beautiful and cosy environment.
We can't wait to go again and again.
M. D.
Nice food, good service. Always happy to be here..
R. M.
Nice place to have tapas in Mayfair. The service is really nice and friendly and the selection of tapas is great. You can choose different menus, that differ on the amount of tapas, so that you can find the one that suits your stomach. It is a great value for money in a part of London that is not cheap. You can walk from Hyde Park Corner or Green Park. Parking is close to impossible.
k.
Deliscous tapas! Good service, would definitely recommend and visit again.
Don't be fooled by the name, their rum selection is lacking.
T. B.
Personal service, great food, lovely interiors inside and out and welcoming. Great prices. Will be back.
K. “. j. T.
Everything is good as usual. But one thing I noticed was Paella we ordered the other day was a bit sticky. I prefer dry one but it would be dependant on personal preference. Thanks for delicious foods!
J. B.
The feeling of Spanish authenticity is everywhere in El Pirata and it feels like you are sitting in Spain. I visited on my own when in London and was looking forward to the meal from the moment I walked through the door. The service was excellent, and the waiter helped my build a dinner that matched my appetite. I started with pan con tomate, and this was as good as I’ve had. I paired this with padron peppers from Galicia and jamón serrano for the perfect start to the meal.
For main course, I opted for a trio that felt like they would compliment each other. They absolutely did – the chuletitas de cordero, carrillera and uevos rotos especiales were made for each other! Each was cooked with skill and care. I didn’t want the mains to end, as I tucked into each of these. The carrillera was just perfect, as it carried all of the flavours – it makes me smile just writing about it now.
To finish I went for the repe de chocolate, which is a pancake filled with chocolate sauce, flaked almonds & served with vanilla ice cream. It tasted as good as it sounds, and I would come back to El Pirata for this alone. I recommend the restaurant for anyone. From the service to the décor and on to the food, it was a delight in every single way. If you ever near Mayfair, then this is worth visiting.
N. M.
Great for bottomless brunch! Not enough vegetarian/seafood options on the brunch menu, but the main menu has a lot of variety.
F. T.
Visited for dinner on a Thursday evening and the place looked quite packed (Thursday is the new Friday!)
The staff were really friendly and we were seated quickly. The food was all ready nice, my favourite were the Langostinos al chef (big juicy prawns in a delicious sauce!) and the Chuletitas de cordero (grilled lamb cutlets). The black rice and squid which is one of their popular signature dishes was also tasty.
Fun and relaxing ambience, a hidden gem in the middle of Mayfair :)

I was staying at the Hilton close by and this restaurant was recommended to me. I did not have a reservation but they accommodated me. Great food and portions, nice selection of wine and excellent service! I always seek out Tapas when traveling and was not disappointed. Can't wait to make it back here again!
A. R.
Great food, friendly service and a nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

First time to a tapas restaurant and it was sooooo good! The group loved everything about this restaurant. The atmosphere, the food and drinks. You need to come and join the fun!

Excellent food and a good location. All we ordered was very tasty. Also, a beautiful venue and was nicely decorated for Christmas. Highly recommended!
E. L. C.
What a place! Booked for 6 people for a birthday dinner and it was perfect! Food was so delicious, the wine we had (both white wine and red wine sangria) were lovely. I would recommend getting the tapas sharing menu, we had it between the 6 and a seafood paella and that was more than enough. I would also recommend the desserts, particularly the cake!
The staff were amazing, so attentive, accommodating and friendly.
Regarding the ambiance, both upstairs and downstairs are lovely. The mood is more dark and cosy downstairs but we sat by the window upstairs which was lovely as we got to see day turn to dusk.
Definitely coming back and would highly recommend!

We had lunch based on Spanish tapas.... We had chorizo, croquetas, Spanish omelette (can be improved), patatas bravas, excellent boquerones, in general very but very good.
Bit best of all, the service
L.
Tasted the following:
- patatas bravas (sauce indifferent and potatoes precooked)
- octopus (sauce nice but octopus was tasteless)
- jamon croquettes (not bad)
- seafood paella (seafood wasn't tasty at all but rice was nice)
- crema Catalan (it was cold and nothing special)
- tarta Santiago (probably the most decent dish)
Overall below expectations!
S. A.
Amazing food, cocktails and sangria! We had paella, chorizo, prawns and olives and the table service was amazing. Very romantic and lovely decor
D. A.
Service, fantastic. Food, phenomenal. Atmosphere, perfect. You can tell why this place has stood the test of time...they did not miss a beat all night it was like watching a perfectly performed ballet! Made for an amazing anniversary meal. Thank you to all the staff we'll definitely be back to this hidden gem.

El Pirata is usually on our menu when we visit London. Vibrant and busy, huge menu packed with typical Spanish dishes, cooked perfectly and arriving quickly.
W. T.
Good service and nice ambience. Food wise, fair.
G. N.
Great ambiance, beautiful bar, excellent cocktails, exquisite food and fantastic service!
R. F.
Great atmosphere and service. You won't walk away hungry!

👍🏻 Very delicious
👎🏻noise, waiting and small place
Overall great restaurant for people who like Spanish food
For me one time is enough
M. D.
Fantastic tapas, nice and relaxed, with a great selection of dishes and reasonably priced, considering the location.
Service was a little on the sluggish side, though as they have just reopened, that can be forgiven.
Beer selection was limited, but the draft they did have was fairly quaffable.
Highly recommended.
H. A.
Gorgeous food, very friendly attentive staff and the art takes you on a Spanish journey.
Z. B.
Had the sharing platter and mini burgers. Incredibly good!
Great price for hight quality dishes. Lovely service as well. Came without a booking and there were extremely kind and making room for a table.
L. G.
Excellent food and brilliant customer service. We had dinner here on a Friday evening. The food is authentic and delicious. Attentive and friendly staff who care about customer service. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening.
G. M.
Great food. Service was good. They seated us on a Friday night without reservations. Too many good options.

We really enjoyed the food here spend almost 2hrs eating this Delicious Spanish food , seafood paella was the best , shrimp aioli , chilli , and many more but I couldn’t take all the picture but manage to have few for the people to review for more details u can check my Instagram account eat_right_food_recipie .. can’t wait to be back in London soon and have my meal again at el pirata restaurant it is on a very prime location ….. ambience is very calming and sparkling ✨ one must definitely visit this place thank you
S. C.
Very good tapas with reasonabe prices and drinks are good on the upper floor, just make sure you stay on the top floor as the bottom floor is where the toilets are and the smell of bleach and not only is very irritating.
L. G. C.
Absolutely delicious food, perfect sangria, impeccable service... couldn't have asked for more. The pan con tomate, croquettas and solomillo was out of this world. The rest of the food was so good, too, but these were stand out dishes. Service was amazing, someone there whenever you needed them but left to chat all night with no bother. Could have been twice the price and still good value!
S. K.
Really good tapas! Sangria was also great!
C. B.
Wonderful tapas and such a great atmosphere! We really enjoyed our time here.
T. F.
This was our first time at El Pirata but we have eaten at many tapas restaurants and we have to say that this is the best. The restaurant is quite upmarket, service was efficient but un-obtrusive and friendly, extensive range of tapas, wine was also extensive and prices very good on the wine and food considering the location and portion size. Food was fresh and was full of flavour. Special mention too Karina who served us as she was excellent. Highly recommend and cannot wait to go again.
G. N.
Great ambiance, beautiful bar, excellent cocktails, exquisite food and fantastic service!
B. H.
Cosy, friendly place. Good wine, good tapas, good service. Interesting authentic dishes. The iberico ham is very good.
Y. N. T. V.
I really wish I could give them more than five stars. I went there last night to celebrate my birthday with my partner and I certainly was very impressed by their food and service.
I suffer from really bad IBS so I have a very restrictive diet which makes me pretty much unable to eat out. However, the staff were extremely helpful, listened to all my requirements and helped me their best to adjust the menu so that I could enjoy my birthday dinner and it was truly amazing! It was the first time I ate out in months due to this issue and I was a bit scared but the food was brilliant, and I am not sick!!!
I can't recommend this place enough - hygiene standards, food quality, product knowledge from the chef and the waiting staff, staff were polite, attentive and extremely nice. I am over the moon and I have already recommended this restaurant to several friends. We will 100% be returning.
Thank you so much for such a great night!
P. R.
A nice spot in Mayfair. Food quality was good but for the extra star they need to sharpen up a bit on the food quality. The environment is great, staff was very warm and welcoming.
S. M. B.
This is a great place to have excellent food. The Manager is great, some of the staff are really unwelcoming. I always come back for the quality of the food at a fair price
V. D.
Tried the tasting menu. Unfortunately something came up where I had to leave a few dishes in. The manager downstairs dealt with it very well. Food up to that point was great. Am looking forward to coming again soon to finish the tasting menu this time.
M. H.
Best Tapas in London, awesome place with excellent food and service. Have visited this place a few times now after finding this place and every visit has been great.
R. F.
Great atmosphere and service. You won't walk away hungry!
R. V.
Nice staff, disappointing food. Super greasy and not tasty.
J. G.
Lovely place to eat and chat on a works night out. Friendly staff
Y. R.
Delicious food, Shame it had to be in a rush, we had to leave within 2 hours. Expected a much better customer service at the entrance. I believe it needs improvement but the tapas pack is a great idea.
J. P.
Service was excellent, food was amazing!

Excellent quality food, attentive & responsive staff, thank you.

Splendid dishes served by a welcoming staff.
M. K.
Wow absolutely over delivered, quiet side road with a Gem of a Tapas Restaurant and Bar. Friendly polite service, wonderful wine selection, and very tasty dishes. Highly recommend.
N. S.
Great Tapas place, warm and friendly whilst hidden away in Mayfair
B. D.
Charming little place oozing with Iberian authenticity. Lovely staff and delish dishes, including some good veg selections. If you're in the area for lunch, you're in luck, they usually have a sweet afternoon deal to sample a few tapas plates and wine. I've not visited in the evening but hope to swing by and post another excited review soon.
M. S.
Best tapas in London. The food it’s superb! Very friendly staff, nice and cozy environment. If you want typical Spanish tapas with amazing flavor, this is your place. The black ink rice, croquettes and hams are just awesome. Highly recommend this place!
W. T.
Good service and nice ambience. Food wise, fair.
G. K.
Food was okay and so was the ambience. A bit hyped publicity!
C. N. F.
Cozy location for very good food and drink but the portions are too small. Staff members were absolutely friendly! 👍🏻
J. S.
Great food, atmosphere, and service. Timing of dishes perfect. Tapas are authentic. Paella great. Our server Marcos was excellent in taking care of our large party. Bravo! Would definitely come again. Highly recommended.
A.
Great tapas. Excellent service
S.
So this was my first experience of Tapas and it was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable and the food was delicious. I wish I could remember what I had, loads of different dishes on the table and it was all delicious. Service was fantastic, they were very attentive. Had a great time.
P. K.
Pleasant experience. Nothing mind blowing or special but food was nice and service polite. Everything was fresh and well cooked but flavors were very plain. Portions are very small so you must have many to have a proper meal. But no any big complaints.
P. G.
Can't say enough good things have been eating here for nearly 20 years and every meal is as good as the first one great team and friendly staff it is like coming home each time.
S. A.
Would 100% Recommend this restaurant. Changed my booking from 3 people to 5 20 minutes b4 we were due to arrive. The food was great and service was very good. Only reason it gets a 4 instead of 5 star is I felt the portion size was a bit smaller than other Tapas I have been to. Definitely go here again.
T. J.
Excellent table service, good food.
Felt extremely welcome and the staff couldn't do enough for me and my partner. Often coming over to the tables to check if we needed anything; not to the point that it got annoying though.
The food was good, but nothing particularly special and the pricing felt very reasonable to me.
Would definitely consider visiting again.
R. M.
Absolutely loved a recent visit here - was completely packed on a Tuesday night with a super atmosphere and ambience. Glowing golden lights, happy chatter all around, and the perfect date spot or place to get some delicious tapas with friends. Staff are really knowledgeable about the menu and the wine selection is great. Definitely go for the prawns - we were recommended them and loved them!
M. F.
Absolutely gorgeous tapas and excellent attentive service.
H. H.
A London institution - always delicious food, a warm welcome and excellent unfussy service. It's also a bargain.
J. W.
Excellent tapas bar with great value bottomless brunch for the area
The meatballs were fantastic
Friendly staff and good location

Super restaurant. Delicious food. Friendly staff. Went there for my daughter's birthday and had a great time.

Very busy and noisy
Staff polite and helpful
Nice food plenty variety
Basement probably best place to seat and eat
T. O.
Brilliant place! Like walking into a local restaurant in Spain. Impeccable service (with lots of smiles) and best tapas ever.
F. P.
Went there years ago and then again this this week. The place has not changed a bit. My 2 friends and I went for the "tapas discovery" menu which was awesome. A great combination of cured meats, fish and meat tapas. There was enough food for all of us. They also have a quite extensive list of Spanish wine, a bit on the pricey side but worth exploring to discover some lesser known Iberian wines. El Pirata is one of the best tapas place I have been too and would recommend it to anyone.
N. C.
Excellent location tucked away in a back street but v close to the action. Food was good as was service. Had the tapas taster menu (saved choosing separate dishes and was better vfm) which was plenty of dishes. For location the menu was reasonably priced. Would go back again
L. F.
Ordered the tapas set menu and a paella. Best to make a reservation. Staff is friendly and the food arrived quickly. Since its in mayfair it's on the pricey. However, the food lacked flavor. Didn't meet my expectations considering the price.
A. K.
We thought it was really average food wise. We added salt to everything and we have never done that anywhere else. Service was not great either. We had the prawns, croquettes, bravas, calamari, mushrooms and tortilla. Wouldn't return I'm afraid. Restaurant was busy and had a nice atmosphere though.
A. G.
The food was very good, everything was fairly reasonably priced and the cocktails were great. However, the automatically added gratuity for staff that didn't smile once the whole evening takes a star off. Also, wouldn't recommend for a one-on-one conversation/date as the atmosphere is pretty lively, but great for groups.
J. L.
Excellent tapas restaurant close to Green Park. Delicious and excellent value too! There are a few tables outside which are nice for summer days.
R. W.
Popped in here for lunch with the in-laws whilst visiting London and was seriously impressed with the quality and value. The staff were lovely and food came out quickly. Currently have a set menu lunch which was fantastic value at £10.25 each and every single dish was divine, highly recommended.
N. B.
My wife and I came here at 7:30 on a Friday with no reservations (we didn't realize it was so popular). The host made a genuine effort to seat us, but they were booked. We sipped great wine by the bar and the bartender gave us a heads up when someone at the bar asked for their tab. We felt like the staff were "on our side" for sure. The bartender (a woman from Lisbon) was great - good humor, good service, and excellent wine recommendations. The food was excellent. We especially enjoyed the fried sardines and roasted potatoes - a true Portugese combo, we were told! While not super cheap (nothing decent in London is) the prices are fair. The ambiance is warm. I recommend this place.
J. S.
Best Tapas restaurant in London!
Nothing is too much for the staff they go above and beyond to help, the food is so tasty and definitely good value for money!
Well done El Pirata, im very impressed and will back!
B. N.
Most of the food was good to great.... Jamon was very good, as was the calamari and croquettes. There was a few sub par dishes though, including the omelette, which was dry and flavourless and the lemon sorbet was just terrible. I've had far better sorbets from the supermarket, with it tasting like someone's first attempt to make it... Gooey and barely tasting of lemon.
Some service issues as well however they were quickly rectified.
W. G.
The last meal I had there was pretty disappointing. I've been going to El Pirata for close to 10 years now and would always go with family and my partner for special occasions (I've been to El Pirata for pretty much all my Valentine Days and anniversaries for the past decade), but now it seems to have gone downhill.
The new menu has lost a few of it's best dishes (namely the monkfish) and there seems to be a focus on getting 'influencers' in and making it more 'Mayfair'. Which is a shame as what was really endearing about El Pirata is how unpretentious it was despite its surroundings.
Something definitely seems to have changed and without doubt it's not been for the better.
M. T.
Very attentive service and the food was top notch. We ordered around 8 different plates of tapas and they all arrived at roughly the same time and was piping hot. Good selection of wines on the menu and if you can get there early enough or request it you can get a table outside which is a bonus during the summer.
They also have a set introduction to Tapas menu which although I didn't try did have my slightly intrigued so another visit may be in order
J. H.
Really enjoyed most of the tapas we had here, and thought the service was really good too - our waitress was a bit of a character. Of particular note were the tortilla (how do they make it so thick?) and the padron peppers. Seemed pretty reasonably priced as well - less than £30 a head, and we filled the table with tapas twice over. Maybe not the best place to go if you're looking for a quiet chat, but if you're looking for a very lively atmosphere this would be a good choice.
M. M.
Excellent staff and very helpful. Was there yesterday for a dinner with friends and one of my friends had unfortunately forgotten the lock to the bicycle and the staff were incredibly helpful in finding a solution which meant it was not the end of the evening for us. The wine and olives were great and the rest of the tapas were just the standard stuff. The only reason I have not put the last star is due to the very spoilt taste I have in Tapas and this was just normal good Tapas. Still, I would highly recommend this very friendly, comfortable and good food establishment for anyone looking for a great dinner out with friends.
D. S.
Just love this place!
Right in the heart of Mayfair and a (slightly) hidden gem! Dark wood cosy interior over two floors.
Great tapas and wine - at a very affordable price for the area. Professional yet friendly staff and a lovely ambiance.
Highly recommended!!!

Very friendly and attentive staff. Food was very good in general except the iberico pork chop. Nice atmosphere and pretty busy. Mid-priced but relatively cheap in this part of town. Manager gave us a discount because of a small incident. Good place overall!
M. G.
Excellent Tapa restaurant with a good authentic range of dishes. A little expensive, but that goes with the location. I've been here a number of times for dinners with colleagues and I chose to have my work leaving do here. I'd highly recommend.
M. O.
The atmosphere was nice, and the service was ok. Very expensive for what it is though - there are way better Tapas places in London at a lower price point.
M. H.
Very good Spanish tapas place. Tapas size was reasonable as were the prices. However, the most of the dishes were not salty enough - where all the Spanish tapas need to be rather salty.
B. S.
Best Tapas in London, we have been eating here for well over 20 years! Great food & lovely staff🥰
T. L.
The best tapas bar in London, hidden down one of the back streets of Mayfair. Has the best stocked bar you will ever see. At least 10 different whiskeys and an extensive variety of spirits and many different wines from Spain. You can either sit down at a table or sit at the bar and eat. There are 2 floors with the upstairs been the main area and where the bar is too. Very popular so can get busy during peak lunch hours. Best to reserve a table if you're in a large group.
H. C.
This place is absolutely amazing. Great service and incredible menu. The introduction tapas menu was fantastic. I wasn't keen on the omelette because it was dry but the rest of the menu was exquisite. The wine recommended by the waiter (francisco) was AMAZING and the dessert too. I had the profiteroles with Bailey's and although I don't usually like Bailey's. This dessert was out of this world. Loved this place and will definitely be returning xxxxx
Ps francisco was an amazing waiter. Thank you for a great experience x
A. H.
Cant go wrong with this place. Excellent food and reasonably priced. Upstairs definitely much better ambience than downstairs. A regular spot for my family and I.
D. R.
Great service, delicious food, air conditioning, good wine choice and guidance. Friendly ,helpful and polite staff.
E. H.
Very impressed with the place. Lovely tapas the lamb chops just melts in your mouth. The wine is soooo smooth and have at the same volume an very deep taste
P. A.
Lovers of Spanish Tapas must make a visit to El Piata. Authentic tapas served by welcoming, friendly waiters. Great atmosphere and fantastic surroundings. The restaurant is normally quite busy and when is can be quite noisy, which for some can only add to the authenticity. 10 out of 10 guys!
S. S.
Amazing food and even better service, little gem in the middle of Mayfair - all the quality of Mayfair dining without the big bill. Will definitely be returning.
R. C.
Nice decor, fast service, friendly staff.
A. K.
Great food, great menu, amazing service, fast and reliable. Best to book in advance as it gets busy.
d. s.
Nice!
w. l.
We had a great meal here, one of the nicest meals out for a long time and the best Tapas I've had in a long long time. I highly recommend El Pirate and I'm sure we will be back. We had the set menu, £25 each with min 2 sharing so £50. We added Patatas Bravas, meat balls and bread with tomato. The set menu come with quite a lot but i couldn't say no to the potatoes and meat balls. All in all it was a delicious meal. Friendly helpful staff too. Thanks everyone!!!
S.
Brilliant place - tastiest Spanish food - lovely, friendly service. A real gem.
P. A.
Excellent food, amazing staff and what a top class service ;) I recommend booking a table downstairs as its absolutely stunning. Great place for a date :)
K. L.
Best place for Spanish bar food in London, and best value lunch in Mayfair, hands down! Come for the ham, stay (and come back) for the amazing service!
G. W.
Fantastic meal and great service.
R. O.
Delicious Spanish food. Atmosphere is very cozy and pleasant, feels like you're in Spain. Service was really good as well.
k. m.
Lovely selection of tapas. really tasty and fresh , calamari, monkfish, prawns, meatballs..... excellent and good value. Good service and clean loos too!!
I. C.
The food is good, although it wouldn't blow your mind. Also, the portions are fair, but if I'd go here and I'd be really hungry, I wouldn't feel saturated. The atmosphere is vibrant and I think that's a Plus.
V. P.
Visited El Pirata on our anniversary this year... The welcome we received was lovely, the restaurant nice with Picaso scattered everywhere.
The manager took care of the flowers I had bought my girlfriend and our bags quickly.
The tables were a little close together but it was OK, everyone was friendly, we felt relaxed and not rushed to order asap.
Overall, I'd definitely come back. This time for lunch sitting outside.
M. D. V.
Just wonderful. Book ahead or go early to get a seat upstairs, which is so much nicer than the basement. Either way, food and wine are both excellent and surprisingly good value. Definitely will return.
D. M.
Odd to read some of these reviews - I've been eating there for about 10 years, and never had any problems. Great staff, excellent food and for Mayfair, not expensive. You will need to book though as it is vv popular. Good 'set menu' as well as excellent a la carte. Affordable wines - esp Rioja!
And as for the comment re 'no function room' - if you want to seat 60 guys then ElP will set up the basement room for that - we've done that for Staff leaving events etc.
A. M.
Wide choice of quality fairly priced tapas and interesting wine list. Impressed with the Muga Reserva, not widely found in the UK. Good service and pleasant stmosphere. Looking forward to my next visit.
B. N.
One of the best services I've been offered in central London without the fakeness of wanting a tip.
Great tapa set meals and amazing wine list. A hidden gem in Mayfair and well worth the visit.
N. T.
Very nice food and a great atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful. Our waiter provided us with a selection of food to meet our groups various preferences. Tasty food and good value for money
P. H.
Very good value for the lunch special. A bit hectic but overall a pretty decent quick lunch option in Mayfair with top wine list of spanish wines. Nice atmosphere
C. P.
Had the lunch special...food incredible...service like lightning...and a bargain.
Also had an octopus dish that was great.
The food is genuine and very good, and the relative low cost makes it incredible value for London.
E. S.
Lovely meal, good atmosphere
K. A.
Our driver recommended this Spanish tapas place, and it was a welcome break from the ubiquitous fish and chips. A really interesting building with multiple levels and several tiny rooms with tables crammed together and a wide variety of small plates. A diverse crowd, from the young an hip, to the businessmen all seemed to be having a great time.
M. H.
The food was very good here, a great selection of tapas. Next to this, the service was really nice as well, very friendly, topped up the wine every time. I would definetely recommend this one.
h. f.
I loved the huevos rotos con jamón, just amazing I wanted more and more. Good calamares a la romana but the pimientos and vuelta de carne were not amazing. I could have taken something else. A bit loud inside but apart from that lovely place!
K. O.
I dine here at least once a trip to London, really good tapas, nice wine selection, seating in main level or downstairs, always busy and full of energy here, really good service too. On a side street in Mayfair, well worth going and enjoying.
J. B.
Best tapas in London, maybe The world.
M. D.
Very nice restaurant in the centre of mayfair, one of the most exclusive places in London. The staff is polite and helpful although very busy and they give you good advice. The food is lovely, I loved the patatas bravas and the pulp and the dessert. I would recommend it
S. k.
Did not like the service much. The staff seemed confused. They missed an order and took a while to get the correct one. Also the fruit juices were full of artificial flavor to the extent that I could not complete the drink. Quit crowded and a small place, they try fitting in as many people as possible.
J. W.
A break from the pretentiousness and over pricing of Mayfair. Great food and wine in a cosy, authentic setting. If you go once you will go again
E. P.
Amazing!
F. A.
Had the bottomless brunch. Food was tasty, they kept topping up our sangria and were generally a lovely bunch.
S. S.
Outstanding tapas
Best we've ever had.
D. P.
Excellent service, wine and food with charming atmosphere. Would definitely return again to try the other tapas menu items that we just didn't have enough space for.
C. P.
Superb authentic Spanish Tapas. Definitely the best tasting food, ambiance, service and value for money restaurant in the Mayfair area. Be sure to book to avoid disappointment.
c. w.
Lovely restaurant. Lush wine (very strong wine list). I would avoid the fixed tapas menu next time and go a-la-Carte as I think there were much better options.
R. L.
One of if not my favourite place to eat in London, amazing staff and food. Great choice of wine. A must for anyone into Tapas.
I. W.
Food was good. Nice atmosphere. BUT £1.30 per head for bread and mayo????!!!! Not clearly stated on the menu! Just be aware of the fact price on menu is per head and not per portion.
M. B.
Lovely well balanced menu, excellent service and the food was delicious. Recommend the pan fried steak tapas the red pepper risotto. Torte for dessert was to die for! Highly recommended
J. B.
Lovely local spot - excellent value for money given the surroundings in Mayfair, and one my favourite Spanish spots in London!
L. C.
El Pirata is probably one of the best restaurants in London - the food is delicious - the staff are super friendly and genuine -and the price is very reasonable. The most tasty and authentic Spanish cuisine you can enjoy outside of the Iberia.
C. F.
Fantastic food, great service and lovely experience. Would highly recommend!
P. P.
Good food and wine, excellent service!good for parties and dinner!
Thank you!
C. H.
Excellent quality food and very attentive waiting staff. Very happy with the service.
L. M.
Great little place tucked away in Mayfair. Nice wine, a homely feel and good service. Lots of little dishes with great variety - the asparagus and fried peppers were particularly good.
V. A.
A tad on the pricey side, but really great food. Would definitely come back. Service was great too!
S. G.
Impressive selection of Spanish tapas 🇪🇸
M. S.
Pretty much what you would expect from a Tapas bar - staff were helpful, but not exceptional, atmosphere was nice and welcoming! a little bit more expensive than you would expect to pay, but I suppose it is the Mayfair premium - would definitely go again.
S. C.
Amazing tasting and fairly authenticate
M. M.
Paella was incredibile, fresh fish and excellent cook. Not too formal and I've love sangria. The service was simple and perfect.
g. f.
Great evening, great food and fantastic service. Rather hot downstairs but not uncomfortably and our table in one of the two cubby holes worked well for us, felt private but not excluded.
N. B.
Great place to eat,. Off the tourist trail, great wines, good service £££££
J. K.
Have had many lovely evenings here with family and friends. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding. Always looked after here.
P. g.
Very tasty Spanish tapas for a reasonable price. The staff is always very friendly and will give you excellent recommendation on tapas and wine. I would definitely recommend this place
E. C.
Had a fantastic meal here, everything really good, , loved every dish, but the giant prawns are to die for. Finishing an excellent Saturday night with a very good sherry in a lovely ambience.
D. G.
We got the party menu and it was really generous servings for £25 a head - the restaurant itself could do with a lick of paint as it felt quite tired for somewhere in the centre of mayfair.
K. P.
Amazing tapas collection! Enjoyed the set menu which was reasonably priced! The beer was chilled and the service excellent!
C. A. M.
Great place, food & service.
R. C.
Amazing food, great service. Had the perfect dinner date, we will be coming back soon!
a. s.

d. s.
Very good place, food is delicious. And service was very friendly, we were very hungry and food came fast and perfect! Enjoyable day Wednesday afternoon 👌
L. R.
After a week in Seville we were taken to this restaurant. It is 100% authentic Spanish cuisine with very nice staff. One to return to
N. Y.
Excellent foods and I always have a super-cool evening here. I don\t know why but they have a lot of asian fans here. ( and I AM one of them!) Fresh seafood dishes are hight recommended.
P. C.
Great service, great venue, quality of food is better than average but nothing exciting, price is a bit expensive, probably because of the location. Underwhelming experience overall
C. K.
Good menu and ok food
E. S.
Didn't meet my expectations. Service was good but good was 3/5. Missing spices. Quite plain and too simple. Tbh La Tasca was better than this.
F. K.
Good Tapas Restaurant. We went there because the waiting time at the Hard Rock Cafe was 1h30 😀. The introduction into Tapas was quite good.
R. C.
One of the best tapas places I've found in London. Delicious, fresh food and very generous portions. Friendly service too.
G. B.
id simply say get the set course number 2, it's 25 minutes of bread and garlic butter, prawns, calamari, monkfish, stuffed peppers, big shrimps, then it was beef medallions, chickens wings and by christ the lamb ribs that fell off the bone, all for 20 bucks a skull.
service was spot on, not too keen but always kept your wine glass topped up
B. D.
Out for dinner with prospective clients and despite a number of late changes they were very accommodating. Food and service were excellent and it was a very enjoyable evening.
J. W.
Didn't expect to find something delicious, affordable, and not booked for weeks in advance in this district, but here it was. Service and food both delightful!
S.
Food is not authentic ...paella was overcooked ...Sangria taste of flavoured water ..pulpo was a bit gummy .Very disappointed cause I chose this restaurant for spent my birthday!!!!
m. m.
The best tapas in London and Valencia 's wine! Great, amazing food. I will go back .
E. S.
Great food, great atmosphere, exceptional service. The flavors were intense, the presentation imaginative. Ten out of ten for the day.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. Food delicious. Ambience calm and relaxed. Couldn't ask for a better lunch time experience.
B. S.
Staff were very helpful and it has a good atmosphere, good value, but some dishes don't pack as much flavour as they could.
j. a.
Great food & excellent service
D. T.
The Spanish tapas was average, the staff is very friendly and helpful though. Hence that’s why I’m raring them a 4 star.
N. H.
All the usual wonderful range of Tapas, well presented, generous portions, friendly and informed service. As good as it gets. But very noisy.
T. J. N.
There are better Spanish restaurant in London but would say this is still a quality restaurant. Love the atmosphere but food quality was inconsistent in various visits.
T. F.
Food fab, great service, coped with GF needs; did I mantion the great food?
U. U.
I went here with my friends. It is good for family and all ages. The food is so nice. We could have typical spanish foods in London.

Casual and tasty Spanish place. In Mayfair, a reasonable priced, quality place like this is rare. Would recommend if you are looking for something near by.
J. P. M.
Nice atmosphere, well-priced, nice decor and choice of gins. Food decent enough but nothing special, good service.
S. B.
Superb food .. great service. Must have dishes... chicken livers.. padron peppers.. green asparagus, prawns in chilli oil... again... super service... thank you.
r. g.
Good option for Spanish food at pricey Mayfair. I recommend seating downstairs rather than the upper level - provides a bit more Spanish feel.
T. N.
Yummy tapas, however not great for those who aren't a fan of fish. It seems slightly overpriced to me, but I enjoyed my meal there all the same.
G. G.
Great food, great ambiance!
J. Y.
A bit off the beaten track with great food, service, wine etc. and reasonable prices
L. C.

Good ....but some how ....that special felling...." Atmosphere" just not right.
I suppose being in Mayfair ....if you dress 'rich' they fall allover you .... wired !!!!!
K. K.
It's wonderful, bit had lost its edge when it comes to amazing Tapas. Everything is very good, but no longer spectacular.
