Reviews of Elliot’s - Hackney
A. G.
Very nice space and location.
I really liked their pizza, Italian style dough , chewy, toppings were good as well.
The clams were over-cooked , their chips were a bit disappointing - some chips were very tangy . The pork chop was good ( as it should be - as they charged £35 for 500gr ).
John Dory cooked well and fresh.
Helpful staff.
Extensive wine list which will please all tastes.
I’d happily seat here again for a glass of wine and some pizza.

A punchy menu, with a mixture of snacks, small plates and larger mains that are all great for sharing with wine. We had the cheese puffs (a fried cheese croquette concept), lamb ragu and the sirloin steak. Desserts are not to be missed too! Would definitely recommend and come back

A full page of the drinks menu dedicated to orange wine. My kinda place! Great dishes, all very tasty. Fabulous presentation and overall ambiance 👌🏻 Might I add that staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, gave us enough space and time to decide what we wanted but we're always on hand to give reccos and have a laugh. Really adds to the experience!

DELICIOUS
Popped by Elliot’s in Hackney last week for lunch, I have visited the Borough Market one a few times, always love it and have been really excited to try the Hackney site.
The space was bright and welcoming. I wanted to try everything on the menu, Alex really helped out with giving us explanations to the food and wine in a fun and genuine manner. It was all so fresh and delicious, and the menu has something for anyone and everyone!
Thanks to the whole Elliot’s team for a fabulously delicious experience, cannot wait to return!

overall: every dish is exquisite & hearty. tempted to try their other shop in Borough. perfect place for friends & family to hangout as dishes are good for sharing.
cheese puffs 🧀: thin layer of crispy batter wrapped with gooey rich cheese filling.
trout roe, potato flatbread 🐟: deep sea saltiness from roe & aromatic saltiness from chive butter, balanced elegantly by light sour cream. the roe gives an extra popping sensation in the mouth.
veal tartare 🐮: contrasting textures of chewiness from the veal & crispiness from crisps. love the tangy sauce as well.
taleggio, sage & brown butter pizza 🍕: extremely light airy sourdough crust that can be a dish on itself. cheese has arather pungent smell & is on the saltier side. personally would prefer a bit of sweetness or veggies as it’s a bit plain overall.
grilled hispi cabbage 🥬: smoky crunchy edges yet still moist inside.
basque cheesecake 🍰: luxurious flavour & creamy smooth texture. rhubarb has an interesting candy-like texture w/ a natural sweetness.
tiramisu ☕️: thought the ladyfinger biscuit can be soaked a bit more, the coffee flavour is very prominent. the mascarpone is rich & silky as well.

**Edit: I gave Elliot’s another try for dessert, and service was actually really great this time! The cheesecake was absolutely lovely. ***
I wanted to like this place, I live so nearby, but it was disappointing on all levels.
Food was good at best, but what really stood out was how terrible the service was! (The basque cheesecake was actually amazing- that was the best part).
Our bill was over 250 pounds and we were treated really rudely by various staff members - there are plenty of better places nearby to be honest

Absolutely divine! Left the restaurant holding our bellies… the cheese puffs were so delicious! The scallops were perfection and the meat… oh my god. Melted in my mouth with that Gorgonzola butter:) also don’t forget the leave space for the cheesecake (if you can) it’s so worth it I forgot to take a picture!

Where to start…we had a lovely lunch there on Saturday. We sat outside and it was still warm enough not to need the heaters.
The food is incredibly good. It’s difficult to decide which one was our favourite, but we enjoyed all of our choices. The wine list is really very good, and their fresh juices exceptional.
The service was outstanding as well (warm and friendly). We’re definitely going to head this way again.

Finally made it over to the new Hackney Elliot’s. I mean if I could copy and paste my old review again I would.
Brilliant team and also a brilliant FOH. Friendly, welcoming and full of energy. Sat at the bar (which as always is the best seat in the house) and helped myself to the usual delights on the menu.
The roasted peppers came with added aubergine which was a welcome addition to the usual fired party. But the real hero were the clams with the suggested side of focaccia, we didn’t touch the olive oil that came with it as it was used to mop up every single drop of the clam dish.
The roe flat bread was an old friend and never disappoints. Rich, tangy, and salty.
A great wine recommendation too, a Lamoresca Rosso 2019. Paired especially well with the prosciutto to start. Which I do recommend eating before the anchovy toast (which you will obviously order) as it’s such a delicate taste that just melts in your mouth.
Can’t wait to come back.

Really rated our time here! The anchovy toasts were out of this world.
We felt our wing rib steak was a bit fattier than you might expect, and the staff replaced it with an amazing sirloin, and threw in a side of greens.
Felt really looked after, and very full.

Absolutely loved my first visit to Elliot's today.
The cheese puffs were delicious, as was the trout roe with potato flatbread and the scallop crudo.
Affogato for dessert was perfect.
Really nice space and lovely staff, highly recommended

Good food, somewhat limited options. Definitely check the menu online before you go. The tiramisu was v. good though. Pizza and dessert, came to about £20 each.

Already a big fan to the mother restaurant in London Bridge, the Hackney offspring is living up to the expectations! Mind blowing doughy goodies and sublime wines to go with!

Have lived in Hackney for 12 years and this is the best restaurant yet. Reliably original and divine tasting food and wine, beautiful decor, fun atmosphere and attentive yet informal service. Have enjoyed both lunch and dinner. I will be a repeat customer!

FINALLY Elliot’s comes north of the river! The best place to eat + drink in the neighbourhood.
The cheese puffs are iconic, you gotta get the taleggio, sage + brown butter sourdough pizza and honestly ANYTHING coming out of the wood grill tastes amazing. perfect natty wine selection too. Go go go - but don’t tell *too* many people, I wanna still get a reservation !!

I have no idea what the other reviews that suggest poor service are going on about. Perhaps a bad day, a grumpy reviewer. Anyways, we had a great lunch on Sunday, shared some arancini, for nibbles, then some tuna carpaccio and some other fancy salad. Followed by a sharing a nice sourdough pizza. Both accompanied by some very good wines and all helped down with some friendly and attentive service. Excellent quality all round. Would recommend.
E. R.
My absolute favourite, every dish is outstanding and their menu is constantly evolving with really unique combinations of flavours. Their wine list is also excellent and they have a great selection of orange wines!
S. E.
We booked at 6:45 and got seats at the bar for 7:30. Enjoyed the cheese puffs with truffles, the talleggio sage pizza, the olive oil ice cream (very unusual) and the Basque cheesecake. Staff were friendly and attentive, but the place got very noisy. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Does it live up to the hype? No. Would I come again? Probably.

Went to Elliot with one purpose only, get my hands on the Porchetta Sando! And hell it was good !
Treat yourself and go get this delicious pizza crust bread stuffed with crispy and juicy Porchetta slices finely combined with fennel slaw and rosemary oil red.
Well done guys ! Can’t wait to try the pizza !
Also to be mentioned nice welcome from the staffs !

We had our small wedding in their private room. The team was incredible and so accommodating. The wine selection and food was amazing as well.

Straight into my shortlist of favourites. Interesting menu, good value for money, absolutely delicious food, and engaging, friendly and knowledgeable service. What’s not to love?
To start we had: tuna tartare, sourdough focaccia, courgette salad and cod. Would do it all again but courgette and tuna particularly good. 2 sourdough pizzas for mains (beef ragu and octopus, capers and wild garlic). Same story. Ricotta gelato with dolce de leche for dessert.
5*. Highly recommend

A British interpretation of Italian food. Picked a few “trendy” Italian dishes and smashed them randomly together in a menu with no concept nor criteria. Mediocre quality, really not impressed.
J. C.
Top drawer. Very very good quality, flavours textures and service! Knowledgable friendly people serving up an extensive but simple menu where everything just flows and tastes delicious!! Certainly will be back, wish I had gone sooner and look forward to them possibly serving lunch service in the spring!
I. R.
Wow! Everything we had was delicious, to the point where we came back after the comedy show we saw after dinner to make sure we had dessert too. Would love to come back, make sure to book as it was very busy!
H. S.
Great service, and massive wine list. Small plates are amazing
S. N.
Great local, food never disappoints! From the wine selection to those cheese puffs, never had a bad time here. Love it!

Stunning place, food is divine and the staff are amazing. New fave in London Fields area. The drinks menu is 5*! Can’t wait to come back!

Incredible food and wonderfully welcoming staff - you immediately feel at home at Elliot's. The cheese puffs are delicious, and the ragu pizza is as amazing as it sounds. Highly recommended, will definitely be back!!

Great place, very friendly and helpful stuff. Interesting crowd. The food was fresh and amazing. We close our meal with the cheesecake, was divine!!!!
R. K.
Great food...the anchovy toasts are delish. All washed with a yummy Rosé.
R. S.
Amazing food, some of the best I've had in London. Fresh, original and matched with a strong wine list

Tbh r croquets with truffle were amazing but I didn't take a photo sadly...

Went to the pre-opening this Sunday lunchtime with two adults and four (yes, ouch) children.
And delighted to say that this is a smashing addition to the already brilliant stock of local Hackney restaurants.
It’s got a nice location opposite Mare St Market/ Bright and the interior is spacious and airy. I guess the outside bit could do with a bit of protection from the main road, but I’m sure that will evolve in time.
The food was all excellent! A nice choice of interesting pizzas, which the restaurant were very kind to simplify for one or two of the smaller, fussier members of our party.
The rest of us focussed on the small plates, which were all completely banging. Really interesting selection and all done with care and attention. All very fresh, light and delicious.
We went pretty light on desserts, but the tiramisu I had was awesome.
Also didn’t delve too far into the wine list, which I gather is either all or mainly natural, which can be a bit of a pitfall in my experience. We settled on a very drinkable bottle of pink fizz though and it was very quaffable without being outrageously expensive - so I was happy!
It was a great place for a family Sunday lunch and I can really see it being a great buzzing place in the evening for a good night out with mates.
All in all, highly recommended!!

Had the set menu and the food was superb. Definitely recommend the monkfish.
Special mention to our server Katrina who made our night all the best!
J. P.
Wow! Hackney is home to some amazing barista’s and coffee houses but Elliot’s rule the roost. Cannot recommend their coffee enough - can only assume their pizza is also incredible.
L. G.
Incredible small plates and very attentive staff. The organic wine is absolutely amazing.

Spot on food, interesting wine list (if served too cold) and great staff.
T. M.
The ambiance of this place was amazing, the decor, staff and lighting all add to the feel.
I had the duck which was divine! Well presented and incredibly expertly cooked, it was the best duck dish I've ever eaten.
K. M.
Popped in on a Sunday night and delighted to see 2 other local restaurant owners dining in as that's always a good sign. Food was pretty good but the service was a bit inattentive. Will go back but maybe try sitting within sight of the bar next time.
T. W.
Brilliant service, incredible food and great selection of wine. Faultless
E. H.
Fantastic food, great vibe and some delicious drinks. The watermelon margarita was 10/10. Already recommended to many friends 😍

We ordered a heat at home meal kit from Elliots and it was great! Really delicious food that you want to eat, sourced locally, good portions and travelled well/super easy to put together. Can’t wait to visit properly when lockdowns over! Also banging negronis.
