I cannot recommend this place enough. This is a very lovely, small, locally owned restaurant named after the great revolutionary Frida Carlo. If that isn't enough of an enticement, Gabriella, the waitress, was an absolute delight. She helped us to decide from the extensive and delicious menu (with impeccable results) and kept us smiling throughout the visit. She really gave the food a run for the highlight of the visit. She even helped with my Spanish! The chocolate cake will set your heart alight and the churros are fried to perfection. Come along for some nibbles from the starter menu or chow down on the mains. It's all reasonably priced and I'll definitely be back with more friends! The cocktails are delicious too! Salud!

Found this beautiful cafe while having a walk. The staff members were so lovely and gave us recommendations on which food to eat and the coffee was incredible with very generous portions! First of all, the food is deliciouso and the place is so cute and cozy. If you are looking for an authentic mexican food - i recommend going to Cafe Mexicana! The staff are so polite and they looked after me and my family. The portions are big and its worth more than what you've paid for. The staff also surprised my baby sister with a birthday song and a cake with candle for her to blow 👌

It's a nice little café in the Camden Street with a limited seating capacity. Walls of the café are artistically decorated and overall, it has a nice ambiance. We ordered three different types of Mexican breakfast and found all of them well cooked. The service was prompt and efficient. The scrambled eggs and mushrooms were really nice. Size of the serving is quite generous. We enjoyed have a nicely brewed cup of coffee after the breakfast. Depending on the order, it will cost to £ 8-12 per head for breakfast.

Everything about Frida was so good. We received a nice welcome and the service was excellent throughout. All the food was amazing, however the King prawns in salsa starter deserves a particular mention. The baileys bananas cocktail also deserves a mention. It would be easy to walk past this restaurant but don't... it is definitely worth a visit.

This a very cute locally owned restaurant. I would happily return back again and again for the food and the service! I had a mexican breakfast this morning. It arrived quickly and was packed with flavour. Presentation was not very skillful but the all-important taste was very much in place. The portion could have fed a small family! Service was excellent, as was the delicious coffee and price was very very reasonable, for such a taste explosion. This is a brilliant authentic Mexican restaurant within Camden. I ordered the chicken quesadilla, the portion size was extremely impressive. The guacamole and potato chips were great in taste and the salad was all fresh! I liked the red chilli jalapeño which added a spice twist! Only recommendation is the olives to be pitted, as it made it that much harder to eat.

The staff are very friendly and smiley and they even managed to squeeze us when we didn’t book (during eat out to help out). It’s a shame because the quesadilla was reaaaalllyyyy soggy and just didn’t taste nice. I actually couldn’t eat it it was that bad. Went with my brother for his birthday and he is a meat eater and ordered vegetarian and as a vegetarian myself we both gave this place 5+ stars! The food was delicious, the cocktails were amazing (also had the most delicious shot I had ever had in my life), the music great which created a lovely atmosphere and the staff friendly and attentive who go above and beyond. I would 100/10 recommend and can not wait to go again.

I have to say That i was very blown away by the service I received at Mexicana. The chef was very kind to alter my friends meal as she couldn't eat onions. The food was also very tasty with great size portions. The decor and seating and surroundings are also very nice. We visited here early morning on a Saturday. It’s not a usual place I would try for breakfast but I’m glad we did. The food was amazing. I had eggs benedict and although there was a little too much guacamole for me it didn’t take away from the perfect sauce and eggs. My husband had a full English and it was delicious. Chips on it too!! The coffee was fresh and hot too. Definitely worth a breakfast visit so imagine it must be amazing of an evening too

Cute little place that serves reliably tasty Mexican food with generous portions of guacamole, tomatoes and sour cream. Most of the dishes are not very spicy by default so ask for that if you want it. It's small enough that there is only ever one waitress on duty and the service is still great. Good prices and not much else to say really.

Amazing food, excellent service, great value for money. The Posh Margarita on the rocks pitcher was a true Posh Margarita pitcher, not the weak, watered down stuff you get in some venues. We visited on a whim while walking from Camden to Mornington Crescent without having been there before but we thoroughly enjoyed it!

Really good food. They have a vegan option but it's not really vegan, they just take everything out that not vegan and you are left with vegetables, literally. So I was a bit disappointed when they served me my food, but after tasting it I didn't care! It still tasted amazing. Delicious seasoning made up for what was lost. Also friendly staff.

Cafe Mexicana is a quaint little cafe / restaurant with a decent coffee and huge-portioned, decent food. The price tag is also confusingly low for the amount of decent food that you receive, but that’s not exactly something to complain about. The breakfast burrito is HUGE, so you are forewarned.

When my fiancee had a itch for Nachos - her whims best known to herself - I was all too happy to use it as an excuse to visit this lovely cafe. We came in when it was empty save for the staff - bit of a late lunch - and the service was lovely. Sat wherever we wanted, though we got a bit unlucky with a wobbly table - though the waitress was attentive enough to then try and fix the issue with some well placed folded up menus. Decided we didn't want to go too heavy so we order 3 tapas plates and a side and shared it. The Nachos Grande is easily my new favourite example of a plate of nachos: Onions, BBQ sauce, guacamole, sour cream, cheese galore and plenty of jalapenos and bell pepper slices. Add in the meatballs which were large and succulent, lovely prawns in garlic and coriander (my fiancee loves shellfish and coriander) plus some nice spanish rice. Plus I had a slice of their tangy sweet but not sour passion fruit cheesecake served with little delicious strawberry slices to the side. A lovely meal full of variety which is always one of my favourite things. I'll have to come back another time and try their breakfast options or maybe some sandwiches for lunch. The drinks are amazingly up to scratch as well - as a bartender I appreciated their well stocked back bar full of all sorts which fuels a huge cocktail menu - we found one called the Chiquito which is the same name as my fiancees dog. We went for their non-alcoholic cocktails - a virgin colada which had a lovely chocolate sauce decoration inside the glass, and a strawberry / passionfruit blended ice drink for myself. Oh so sweet. Classic margaritas, caipirinha, pina coladas, other spanish classics with a range of tequilas. Small and cosy, if you can get in a little later or earlier than a usual meal time, then you're in for a lovely experience in this tightly packed room of tasty food.

Visited cafe Mexicana a few times, their food is quite good and service quite fast unless they get busy. Under normal circumstances, I'd recommend it, if you see it being full and you're in a hurry, then might be best to look elsewhere.

We found this place by accident as we were walking in Camden to find somewhere to eat. Best Mexican/Spanish food ever! What a cute little place. Truly local restaurant. The atmosphere is so warm and cosy, the interior is so beautiful - somebody painted all the pictures in there and it's so unique. The service was so friendly and the food was so delicious and the portions were extremely generous! Loved that they have sangria and very interesting cocktails choice! Thank you so much for having us!

Such a great place, the coffee is great and the breakfast is wonderful, the staff are very nice and polite and as for the boss he’s brilliant at what he does I have had some great chats with him, he’s a good man to talk to and very helpful.
