Food was great! Me and my partner really enjoyed our little brunch there! The chef came to talk to us and he was really friendly! They also smoke their butter in house which was a delicious experience for us!

Very lucky to find a hidden gem. Everything is delicious, staff are natural and friendly. Were surprised by every dish, chicken liver is the most delicious one I ever had.

Amazing experience! Will certainly come back. The customer service is excellent and the decoration and detail is beautiful. They used protective masks throughout, and appropriately, which for me is reassuring. We have picked the super tasting menu, and everything was absolutely a delight! Not to mention the perfection of the cocktails served. Five stars, for sure.

An absolutely wonderful restaurant!! This was my first time at Gilvic, and I will be coming back without a doubt. My friends and I had such a lovely evening. The food was delicious. Each dish was at the same time something familiar, but surprising and totally unique at the same time. It was the perfect balance of comfort and originality. Our waitress was lovely, and gave us great advice as to which foods and wines to choose, which I am beyond happy to have followed. It really was quite a unique experience. It is rare to be able to eat such surprising food in such a cozy and intimate environment. I really could not recommend it enough!

AMAZING food, I can’t believe this restaurant exists in London, let alone Hackney. What a hidden gem. They serve some of the highest quality food I have had in London, at shockingly low prices. The menu is always changing, and the dishes are inventive and well balanced. The portion size is also ideal. They even smoke their own butter! Lovely staff and beautiful setting (they have a ceramics gallery display in the background). Once you visit this restaurant, I guarantee you will come back, it is ridiculously good in every way.

First meal at Gilvic today, found it by chance whilst showing a friend round the area. Really delicious food and friendly service. Had a starter salad of kohlrabi, pear, radicchio and walnut accompanied by warm bread and smoked butter (which is amazing).. followed by roast cod with Jerusalem artichoke, samphire and sea purslane... fantastic food, will definitely go again.

This place is absolutely amazing and a really unique experience in London. The food is so good, tasteful, original. We started with only a few meals but ordered again because it was so good. The chef(s) do everything themselves, and the service is extremely nice (big up to the waitress Noémie who received us with her cute french accent). The atmosphere in itself is worth seeing, super homely and intimate, with only a few tables. 100% recommend without a doubt

I have visited Gilvic a few times since it opened in September and am so happy they opened. What a hidden gem. They seem to provide top restaurant quality in a relaxed and more down to earth environment. The owners are friendly and have explained that it had been a life long dream to have their own restaurant. Both so passionate and you can tell when you bite into their food. I managed to pop in and get some delicious options to take home in lockdown and what a treat it was. And their coffee is great by the way. Here are a few pictures from various visits, the dishes are from their taster menu. I couldn’t recommend it enough.

We had a fabulous lockdown Thanksgiving dinner thanks to Gilvic, it could not have been better! Everything is homemade, the quantity are very generous. Excellent quality food and cocktail super tasty (I wish I asked for more!) Every detail was thoughtful: flowers, cinnamon stick, several sauces for the main course, personalised cards, fortune teller, nice note to help us to prepare the dinner!! From starter to dessert it was a flawless dinner. We were so sad to not be able to go back home to the US this year, this dinner was a real success, best experience we could have for Thanksgiving in London. We look forward to coming when lockdown is done! Thank you! PS: Pecan pie was so delicious that we had eaten it all before taking a picture!!

A hole-in-the-wall, hidden gem. Blink and you might miss it. Sparse and relaxed atmosphere, excellent French-inspired cuisine (though the duck confit was a bit too salty), and easygoing friendly service.

More than just a meal, more an experience. From arriving, to being taken through the menu with our server and being recommended a variety of wines and cocktails, we felt at home and welcome straight away. The food, all cooked by ONE person was some of the best I’ve ever eaten. The chicken starter and chocolate fondant deserve a special shout out. I truly couldn’t recommend Gilvic enough and I’m excited to visit again soon!

Great coffee, tasty goodies and friendly service. I've been a regular here since they opened at the end of last year. It's always a great experience walking in here. You are greeted with a smile, with nice funky music playing in the background. The coffee is great. The jams and bakes are are very tasty. I can't wait until they open for table service again to have dinner here. This place is a gem and I hope it gets the popularity it deserves.

Reviewing the fabulous Gilvic Restaurant as the take out it currently is: We’re lucky to have the lovely team of Gilvic almost as neighbours! Whether it’s their home made bread, pork rillette, maccaroons, pickles, jam, cinnamon swirls, smoked salmon.... okay, l guess you get an idea - EVERYTHING they do is so so yummy. There’s also fresh vegg every day. The take out meals are diverse, everything is fresh and to such a high standard, seriously, l higly recommend checking them out, even if it’s just for a cheeky coffee. They usually share the daily menue on insta.

Forget the over subscribed eateries along the canal. Veer slightly off the beaten path for some beautifully articulated weekend brunch at this hidden gem. Fresh, delicious and elegantly presented. There is also an a la carte menu for lunch and dinner. Watch out for the sign outside the door marking the entrance to the restaurant, or you could miss it.
